NEW ARTICLE: VANITY FAIR
After almost two years of fiery romance, pop singer Y/N and F1 driver Lando Norris split after cheating rumors
Rising pop sensation Y/N had temporarily put her music career on hold to accompany her new boyfriend, F1 rookie Lando Norris, on his journey to dominance. The couple's public debut was in Monaco, following Norris's first Formula One win last year. After being photographed together several times after that, the pair finally decided to be more public with their relationship, with Y/N attending every Grand Prix at Norris’s side.
The media was ablaze with chatter about their fairytale romance, causing fans of both stars to swoon and declare them the next "it" couple. For nearly two years, Norris and y/l/n were inseparable, gracing every magazine cover and dominating headlines. But suddenly, everything changed. Rumors began circulating that Norris had been secretly seeing a stunning model for the past three months, sending shockwaves through the fandom. Soon, the once inseparable pair stopped appearing in public together, leaving fans to speculate if their relationship had met its bitter end. Now, all eyes are on Y/N as she prepares for her highly anticipated next album. Will she address the rumors and set the record straight, or will we all be left in the dark?

I TRULY am my icon this week thanks to Mr. Naked Time and Ms. Our Grandkids. I CAN’T KEEP UP AND MY EMOTIONS ARE WHOA. 5x08/5x09 was my first time watching The Rookie live (I know, I know) but then we had the winter break so I got to dip my toe into the feels. HOW DOES ONE COPE with getting SO FED with 5x10 one week, and then already having 5x11 on the horizon, then 5x12 the following week, etc etc. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE as I buzz with the same frenetic energy as Elizabeth James preparing to see Nick Parker after 11 years.

The rookie 5x16
I don’t even know where to begin. I’m flying on such a high right now 😂that episode was SO Good and we were fed SO well
First of all, the episode opened with Tim and Lucy IN BED ?! I’m literally melted to the ground, I had to revive myself. Tim’s head was basically snuggled into Lucy’s chest! And I guarantee he was holding her stomach or some other part of her body 😭
The way Tim got up so fast when Lucy said she needs to go undercover ‘I’m backing you up’ 😭my loves.
Jealous Tim. I don’t care what he says, he was jealous, and I loved it.
Lucy sticking up for herself when Tim was annoyed about the metro thing. As she should. good for you girl !!!
All the other couples having some sort of argument 😂
The necklace !!! I still want to know what it is ! I swear it just looked like a circle but i want it to be cute and meaningful 😂
Lucy getting turned on the MOMENT Tim put the necklace on her- iconic
‘Fuel for later’ !!!!!!! 😍😍😭😭🥹😍🥰🫡
Their smiles !!!
The package Elijah sent ! 😰I’m worried again
How am I alive still

BTS TV and Web Series: Where to Begin Watching
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
If you’re anything like the rest of the planet, then you’ve fallen hard for BTS. And, like any ARMY who hasn’t been with the band since the early days, you have a lot of content to catch up on. It’s an awesome task—and a potentially overwhelming one. While much of BTS’ content is, of course, music videos and performances, the Korean band has also produced a plethora of additional content in the form of web series and TV shows.
While BTS has appeared on dozens if not hundreds of TV shows both in Korea and abroad since their debut eight years ago, we’re solely focusing on the BTS-centric series rather than the ongoing shows in which BTS has appeared as featured guests. Whether you’re a new ARMY looking to learn more about the K-pop band or simply can’t get “Butter” and/or “Permission to Dance” out of your head and are curious about the seven members behind the summer hits, check out one of the following series to learn more about Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
Rookie King (2013)
How many episodes: 8 Where to watch: Viki
BTS debuted in 2013, and Rookie King was their first proper series. The variety show format is super popular in Korea, and many of BTS’ series use it. Rookie King is a variety show that features the members attempting different Korean TV program formats. In the show, BTS takes on different roles, including news anchors, bowlers, and basketball players. Early variety show BTS is truly a place where anything can happen. Rookie King would also give us our first proper example of BTS taking on cooking challenges, which continues to be a running (and hilarious) theme in BTS’ variety show presence today.
American Hustle Life (2014)
How many episodes: 8
This BTS reality show that sees the members traveling to L.A. for two weeks to learn from hip-hop tutors like Coolio and Warren G, can be tough to watch, as the series is nowhere near prepared to engage with K-pop’s history and present of Black American cultural appropriation. But discomfort is not always a bad thing, and American Hustle Life can be a good jumping off point for non-Black BTS fans in particular to engage with the difficult topic of cultural appropriation in K-pop ourselves. I recommend watching this in conjunction with analysis from Black BTS/K-pop critics, such as Stitch of Stitch’s Media Mix, who has written extensively not only about BTS, but about cultural appropriation in the age of K-pop.
GO! BTS (2014)
How many episodes: 1
It’s a bit of a stretch to call this one a series, as there is only one episode, but if you’re looking for more content from BTS’ early years, then Go! BTS is a good option. The 45-minute episode follows BTS on their trip to L.A. for KCON 2014. In addition to including some performance footage, the special gives us some of that variety program energy by sending the members on three missions around Laguna Beach.
BTS Gayo (2015-2017)
How many episodes: 15 Where to watch: VLive
BTS Gayo is another BTS variety show, in which the members play games that are specifically related to K-pop. For example, in the first episode, they have to guess iconic K-pop girl group songs based solely on dance clues from other members. BTS hasn’t released an episode of Gayo in a while, probably because the wider umbrella of Run BTS (see the next entry on the list) covers the sorts of K-pop-centric challenges BTS Gayo centers. Basically, Run BTS swallowed BTS Gayo.
Run BTS! (2015-today)
How many episodes: 143 (and counting) Where to watch: VLive
The ultimate BTS variety show, Run BTS has been, um, running since 2015. The show features the members competing in a variety of games, from zombie escape the room challenges to foot volleyball to your classic game of mafia. If they win, they get a reward. If they lose, they get a punishment. Variety show games like this are only as effective as the degree to which the competitors take them seriously, and let me tell you: BTS is all in. These global pop stars may be millionaires, but they will throw down for a coupon like their lives depend on it. Early episodes of Run BTS include the members visiting many an amusement park, while later episodes have gotten both more contained and creative in the challenges. Rest assured, there is something here for everyone—just beware the spies and plot twists.
Bon Voyage (2016-today)
How many episodes: 32 episodes, across 4 seasons Where to watch: VLive (Seasons 1-3), Weverse* (Season 4)
Bon Voyage is a travel reality show that follows BTS on various trips around the world, including northern Europe in Season 1, Hawaii in Season 2, Malta in Season 3, and New Zealand in Season 4. It’s interesting to see the members out and about in the world, having fun together and on a relative break. (This is still work, but they are not actively promoting or touring.) Over the course of Bon Voyage‘s four seasons, you will see many a camper van adventure; many a games of rock, paper, scissors; and realize just how central Yoon-gi is to keeping these members fed when they are left on their own. Especially in a time when travel has been largely impossible, bopping around the world with BTS can be a nice escape.
*For Weverse content, purchase via the “media” section in the Weverse Shop app, then watch via Weverse via the app or online
Burn the Stage (2018)
How many episodes: 8 Where to watch: YouTube Premium
Burn the Stage is an eight-part series that tells the story of BTS’ massive 300-day The Wings Tour, which took up most of 2017 for the members. Including interviews and show footage, Burn the Stage follows a pretty standard concert film format, giving insight into BTS’ first major world tour. The series would later be turned into a movie, also called Burn the Stage, which was released later in 2018.
Bring the Soul (2019)
How many episodes: 6 Where to watch: Weverse
Similar to Burn the Stage, Bring the Soul is another glimpse into what BTS’ tour life is like. This six-part series follows the seven members of BTS during the Love Yourself World Tour, through the end of the tour’s third, European leg, which concluded in October 2019. It was also released in a more condensed movie format in Bring the Soul: The Movie.
BT21 (2019-today)
How many episodes: 17 main story shorts, plus additional mini-stories Where to watch: YouTube
If you’re looking for some animated BTS content, check out the universe of BT21, a collaboration between Line Friends and BTS that you can see chronicled here. The members helped create the concepts for the BT21 characters, who are all adorable. From there, the animators began telling the story of Prince Tata, who hails from Planet BT, as he dreams about spreading love across the galaxy. Tata and guardian robot Van travel to Earth to begin the mission, where they meet Koya, RJ, Shooky, Mang, Chimmy, and Cooky, who band together with the ambition to become the most influential pop culture sensation in the galaxy. You can check out the members’ reaction to the initial storyline of shorts here.
Break the Silence (2020)
How many episodes: 7 Where to watch: Weverse
You didn’t think BTS was going to leave you hanging on the final leg of their Love Yourself World Tour, did you? The Break the Silence docu-series picks up where Bring the Soul leaves off, bringing fans on the final, Asian leg of the Love Yourself World Tour and into the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself extension of the tour, which extended the tour through October 2019. As you may have guessed, there is also a movie format version of Break the Silence.
In the Soop (2020)
How many episodes: 8 Where to watch: Weverse
BTS has given us many gifts during the COVID-19 pandemic, but In the Soop may be the greatest. The series follows the seven members as they take a break from their work schedules to pursue hobbies, hang out, and watch Jin kill fish. Unlike BTS’ variety series, In the Soop has a much looser structure, allowing the members to relax a bit more. Each member made a list of activities they would like to try out while in the titular “soop” (“forest,” in Korean), but there is no reward or punishment for completing or not. Instead, the members can choose to spend their time as they wish, whether that be building Lego or racing remote control boats. In the Soop is honestly the gift that keeps on giving, and ARMY is crossing our fingers for a second season. (If you like In the Soop, don’t forget to check out the eight, shorter behind-the-scenes episodes, also available to watch via Weverse.)
What is your favorite BTS series? Let us know in the comments below.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });

He’s lived for 18 years with the pride of being the leader of his family, and now everything has collapsed!
Lee Do-hyun (as Go Woo-young)

Dae-young, who is now 18 years old, changes his name to Woo-young to achieve his dream of becoming a basketball player again. Before his divorce from Da-jung, he was filled with spite. But after finding out why she divorced him, he has been in constant sorrow. He can only look from a distance and take care of her. But Da-jung now has a new man and the children have also opened up to him. After he becomes upset, sad and jealous, he finally accepts reality. Then, Woo-young can’t hide his feelings towards Da-jung and ends up kissing her as a high school student.

if that ask was asking why weki meki dont chart as well and arent as popular though, then... well... man... i wish i knew :(
i mean i have a pretty good idea of why... but it sucks. i think the answer is just... money. you know? their songs are good, they release them consistently, their fans are always being fed with new content, they have members who are pretty famous... but the company doesnt have as much money as companies like jyp, sm, big hit, and others do. that means their production value isnt as high, they arent promoted as prominently, they dont get to appear on as many shows or film as many reality shows as other groups (they do have a reality show, but it was filmed from like december 2017 to february or march 2018... soon after their debut, so they were still riding the initial post-IOI hype, and its been a while since that show now... and it’s not looking like they’ll do another anytime soon)...
it’s money. i’m not saying that rich companies buy their way to the top of the charts (though... it wouldnt surprise me too much...) but they can afford to place their songs in front of more people, and get more people listening. imagine there’s a really good song, the best song ever written, and it was released by a group like twice. it would be huge. it would break every record in history lmao. but if the same exact song was released by weki meki, it might get them a first win and be a lot of people’s favorite song, but it wouldnt break records like that. why not? because on some level, how successful a song is and how successful a group is... has nothing to do with how good the song and group are. it has to do with how many people listen to it. now, a good song will get people to listen to it, so that definitely is still important and still helps a group’s success a lot! but if the company cant afford to make that song be promoted everywhere, and get people familiar with the group via show appearances and things like that, then it doesnt matter how good the song is if not that many people even know it exists. you know what i mean?
and i dont have anything against twice or other big groups from big companies, by the way. twice deserve to be as successful as they are, theyre one of the most iconic groups in kpop history at this point, with some of the best written and catchiest singles. i just wish every group had the same opportunities lol, cause there are plenty of “best written and catchiest singles” that i love from smaller groups that arent nearly as successful as a twice comeback. sometimes theyre even written by the same people lmao. red velvet’s rookie and weki meki’s picky picky have the same producers, and yet... it just comes down to money. sigh.

Homesick
https://zaheela.tumblr.com/post/184554879691/ezmodos-request-of-a-lancaster-themed-picture
We're barely outside of the kingdom. Why is there no stinking signal?!
Ruby balanced near the end of the thickest branch she could find, leaning out dangerously as she held her scroll aloft.
“Miss Rose?” a voice called from somewhere down below.
Ruby moved further out on the branch, holding her scroll to the east this time. Still no signal.
“Miss Rose?” the voice called again, louder this time.
She wasn't technically a “Miss” or a “Rose” anymore, but she'd let it slide.
“Yeeeaaaah?” she responded, practically on her tip toes now as she waved her scroll to and fro to try to find any amount of reception. I need a bigger tree...
“Do you see any, um, Nevermore?” the girl asked, her voice closer than before.
Nevermore? What Nevermooooh crap, Ruby realized suddenly. That was the fib she fed the student before climbing up here however long ago, wasn't it.
Ruby peered down through the foliage and spotted the girl, a mouse Faunus diligently making her way up the tree. One of the students she'd been tasked to lead on their first field assignment, alongside...
The tree shook violently, wood snapping and cracking at its base. The mouse girl squeaked and hugged the trunk for dear life while Ruby balanced among the upper branches.
“Whatcha doin' up there, sis?” Yang shouted up, sweet voice dripping with restrained anger.
“R-Recon?” she offered, trying to keep the guilt out of her voice. “We were just about to head back to camp!”
“Good, good,” Yang said happily, cracking her knuckles. The student had climbed hastily back down and now stood a fair distance away from the brawler. “Because the rest of us were wondering what our leader was doing up in a tree for the LAST!”
Crack! Another powerful blow rocked the tree.
“HALF!”
Boom!
“HOUR!”
Ruby gulped. Busted. She tucked her scroll away and leapt from the tree, letting her semblance carry her quickly and safely to the ground. Going wide around her sister, Ruby landed next to her younger charge.
The girl had a finger pressed to a communicator in her ear, speaking softly to her team on the other end. “No, no Grimm. All clear here. We'll be back soon.”
Ruby offered her best smile as she brushed rose petals from the girl's shoulder. “Back to camp?”
The mouse Faunus' eyes darted nervously past Ruby's shoulder before offering a brisk nod and scurrying away back towards camp. Before Ruby could make her own escape, Yang's arm snaked around her shoulder and pulled her into a bone-breaking side hug.
“Look, Rubes, I get it,” Yang murmured compassionately, iron grip loosening. “They'll be fine. She'll be fine, you know that. But we need you here. These girls busted their asses so they could go on a mission with the Ruby Rose, you know?”
“I know.” Ruby let out a long sigh, hand resting on her hidden scroll.
They wanted Ruby Rose, but they had gotten Ruby Arc.
---
Ruby sat on the edge of camp, back resting against a stout tree as she stared at the contact on her scroll. Still no signal. She'd have to give up for tonight and hope for better luck tomorrow. They were only about half a day's walk away from their mission area, a small town on the edge of the forest. Maybe the village will have a range extender...
Clicking her tongue at the grayed out 'call' icon, Ruby expanded the photo she'd chosen for Jaune's contact. She'd taken it just two days ago, the day before she left with Yang and Team STRW. Ruby had spent the morning at Beacon meeting with Professor Goodwitch to go over mission specifics and expectations the headmistress had for the rookie team. Ruby called home afterwards to check in and Jaune had told her that they had just cleaned up and were about to start dinner.
She came home to her living room destroyed, a minefield of toys she had to navigate to make it to the couch where her two most favorite people rested. Her husband, dopey as ever, still had his scroll in hand with her contact pulled up. Cleaned up, huh, Ruby thought wryly, smirking at the trail of drool that leaked from the corner of his mouth.
On his chest, rising and falling with her father's steady breathing, slept her sweet little Primrose. Pumpkin Pete was clutched in her tiny fist, her constant companion for nap time. Her hair, gold like Jaune's (and equally unruly), was tinged with Ruby's own red. The girl looked so much like her father when she slept, but when awake you'd see her mother's silver eyes, bright and inquisitive, staring back at you.
Ruby found herself sighing for the umpteenth time that trip as she studied the picture of her family. Was it always going to be this hard? Jaune had gone on a few missions since Prim was born and he got teary every time he came home. He'd been a softie for years now and, sweet as it was, she teased him thoroughly for his tears. Now, though, she wasn't so sure she wouldn't do the same.
It's not like she was worried. They were back home on Patch, Prim probably already snug in her crib for the night. She just missed them. She missed tucking Prim in. She missed feeding her and burping her after. She missed reading her stories the baby didn't understand, she missed singing to her, she even missed changing her.
This was her first mission since Prim was born six months ago and only her second day away from home. Ruby already felt like she was losing it.
“Scootch over, mom.”
Ruby looked up to find Yang smiling down at her. She scooted over as requested, letting her big sister join her under the tree. Yang tousled her sister's hair on the way down and came to rest at Ruby's side, shoulder pressed to shoulder.
They sat there quietly as they watched two members of Team STRW build a fire. Tara, a fiery redhead, had their back to them. She gossiped endlessly at her partner. Sophie, the mouse Faunus who followed Ruby earlier, worked quietly, occasionally offering a mumbled response whenever the redhead paused to breathe. Ruby failed to notice the girl peering quietly at her through pale yellow bangs. The other two members of the team (whom Ruby, to her shame, didn't remember the names of) were making a sweep of the surrounding area for Grimm.
“Was Mom like this too?” Ruby murmured, stroking the face of her child on the screen.
Yang shrugged. “Probably. I'm pretty sure all moms are crazy at the start. It'll get better.”
“Mm.” Ruby didn't feel like it would.
“Really though,” Yang said, turning to her sister. “Prim's with Jaune. And Dad's not even thirty minutes away if there's anything Jaune can't handle. I meant it earlier when I said we need you here.”
“Goodwitch told you, right? They earned the right to be out here with us.” Nodding towards the two students ahead of them, Yang continued. “They were ranked near the bottom of their year until they found out the top scoring team of the semester would have their first mission with you as their lead.”
Ruby chewed her lip. Way to disappoint, Ruby.
“And they did it. Worked through every weekend, came in first in academics and just barely second in combat,” Yang said. She continued, a bit more quietly, “I've got a fangirl, you know? Ol' Red there, Tara. It's kind of cute. She just talks and talks and talks, told me aaaalllll about it. Twice.”
“You've got one too, you know,” Yang said, nudging her little sister. Ruby finally looked up from her scroll and met eyes with Sophie. The timid girl quickly looked away, busying herself with the fire.
“Tara told me all about that, too,” Yang said with an exasperated sigh. “You didn't notice, right? She has a rose embossed on the stock of her rifle and everything.”
Shame burned in Ruby's gut as she watched the mousy leader of Team STRW work. “I...”
“But that's why I'm here, sis,” Yang said, climbing to her feet and extending a hand down to Ruby. “To keep you in line. Let's go say hi.”
Ruby smiled up at her sister and reached up to take her proffered hand. Yang, however, didn't move to grab her.
“Nuh uh. Scroll. Hand it over.”
“But-”
Yang rolled her eyes. “But nothing. I promise I'll give it back once we reach town or if anything comes through. These girls know that being distracted can get you killed, they don't need to see it.”
Ruby relented and passed her scroll up. Her sister was right, she needed to get her head in the game. Yang smiled brightly and offered her other hand to help her sister to her feet before leading her towards the still unfinished fire.
“You girls struggling? I brought an expert camper to show you how it's done,” Yang joked. “Ruby here walked across two continents like a dumb ass and camped out nearly every night.”
Ruby glowered at her sister for that as she joined the two students at the fire. “We were keeping a low profile.”
“Suuuure you were. Over half a year on the road with some guy who you just happened to end up marrying later? 'Low profile', sure.”
“Yang, it wasn't-”
“Really, Miss Rose?” Sophie cut in suddenly. “You walked that far? Why?”
“There was an attack coming to Haven and I kinda sorta had to run away from home to protect it,” Ruby laughed uneasily. “And Sophie?”
The mouse girl perked up, probably because Ruby had remembered her name.
“It's Arc. Ruby works for me, though,” she told the girl, smiling.
“O-O-Okay Miss Ruby!”
Ruby shot Yang a glare when her sister snorted at that.
---
Ruby spent the rest of the evening chatting with Sophie, giving the girl tips on everything from setting a camp to weapon maintenance while out in the field. The girl listened raptly and Ruby wasn't entirely surprised when Sophie produced a small notepad to take notes.
Yang had the other three members of STRW with her on the other side of the fire, sharing battle stories. Yang had the girls eating up every word as she weaved stories of destroying Grimm, routing the White Fang, and all around kicking butts. Tara especially was enraptured, gasping and laughing at every major point.
“Let's take a break,” Yang finally said, stretching for the sky. She pulled out Ruby's scroll and shook it at her from across the fire. “Hey Rubes, got any new pictures? Mind if we take a look?”
“Go for it,” Ruby responded before turning back to Sophie. Ruby had the girl's rifle laid across her lap.
The other three girls crowded closer around Yang as she started going through Ruby's scroll. They ooh'd and aah'd at all the right points even if they were probably only being nice. What teenage girl cared about babies? Ruby hadn't at all until she had one of her own.
She didn't notice when exactly the group went quiet but something about the silence bugged her. Looking up from Sophie's rifle (named Silver Rose, much to Ruby's embarrassment), Yang's had a wide grin as she pointed out something on the scroll, holding it up closer for the girls to inspect. Their faces were painted red by the fire, flames shining in their wide eyes.
“Cute butt,” Yang said casually.
Ruby smiled and went back to inspecting the rifle. “Prim has a cute everything.”
“...I guess she got the butt from her dad...” Tara added quietly.
That was a...weird conclusion to draw, Ruby thought.
Yang chuckled. “Never knew dudes could pull off the whole naked apron thing, but dayum Vomit Boy.”
Ruby's head snapped up so quickly that rose petals fluttered down on her shoulders.
Yang was staring her down from across the fire, smug grin plastered on her face, and she realized that the other girls' faces weren't red from just the fire. Ruby couldn't see it clearly through the back of the scroll, but she could just make out her bright red apron and the blond wearing it (and nothing else) posing saucily in front of the bathroom mirror. Ruby delicately handed Sophie's rifle back to the girl and immediately sprung to her feet, making a mad dive for the scroll.
“T-T-Those are private!” she squawked as Yang danced away, holding the scroll high out of her sister's reach.
Yang laughed heartily as she continued to evade her sister's desperate grabs, leading her all over the campsite. Their leader Sophie looked thoroughly confused while the rest of her team giggled and elbowed each other.
After several minutes of chaos, Yang finally put her mortified younger sister in a friendly headlock until she petered out.
“Yaaaaang,” Ruby whined, trying to wrestle her way out of the hold. She'd never been so embarrassed in her life, and that was saying something. “Please give it back.”
“You have got to learn how to use private folders, Rubes,” Yang admonished. “What if I had been Dad?”
Ruby covered her eyes in shame, shuddering at the thought. Teenage girls ogling her husband was bad enough, she didn't need Dad seeing that side (literally) of Jaune. Thank the gods they stopped at the apron... Ruby thought. That was just the tip of the iceberg.
“So!” Yang announced, turning towards Team STRW with a defeated Ruby still firmly held in a headlock. “What did we learn from crazy mom-slash-wife Ruby Arc today?”
“Hide your porn?” one girl put forward, getting laughs from her friends.
“Find a guy with a nice butt,” another posited, getting even more laughs.
Ruby let out a withering sigh. This is one way to finally get away from the “perfect savior of Remnant” label, I guess.
“There's more to being a huntress than what we learn in class,” Sophie offered
Ruby nodded sagely at the girl's wisdom. That's my fangirl, she thought proudly.
Yang nodded along. “Solid answers all. What about you, Tara?”
The redhead tapped her lip in silent thought for a moment before answering.
“Never get married or have kids?”
“Nailed it!” Yang laughed, Team STRW (sans Sophie) laughing along with her.
I wanna go home... Ruby thought grumpily.
---
Sophie stood a little bit taller as the bullhead descended towards Beacon's landing pad. It was a successful mission through and through. A week out in the field, no casualties, no major injuries, and a thoroughly satisfied client. Miss Ro-...Miss Ar-...Ruby hadn't even had to help with the fighting, while her sister only joined in once to show off her skills for the team.
A week with her hero was like something out of a dream. Ruby was so different but so much better than what she had expected. She was nice, and awkward, and kind of a dork, but still an immensely competent and skilled leader. Everything Sophie hoped she could be one day. Ruby had even said she wanted to help her tinker with her rifle once they were back at Beacon!
Puffing out her chest in pride, she looked over to Ruby to thank her for everything she had done. The silver-eyed huntress met her gaze with a smile, but as soon as the bullhead doors started to open she disappeared in an explosion of flower petals that left the group staggering. Yang just laughed and offered the team her apologies as they followed the trail of petals towards Beacon's main entrance.
They found Ruby standing before the statue in the courtyard, an impressive mass of stone featuring a proud ponytailed huntress raising her spear high in victory. With her were Professor Goodwitch and a man that could only be Jaune Arc. And in Ruby's arms was Primrose, the daughter she had heard too much about.
The baby girl squealed in delight as her mother raised her high over her head over and over, each time bringing the girl down to her face to blow exaggerated raspberries into her stomach. The headmistress watched the spectacle with a soft smile, something Sophie had never seen on the stern woman's face before. Ruby's husband stood just off to the side, sniffling a little. Was he crying?
Noticing the group, Professor Goodwitch turned and faced them with her usual critical eye. Sophie swallowed heavily and stepped forward.
“Team STRW reporting in. The mission was successful with no major injuries sustained,” she reported smartly. “I have a preliminary debrief ready now, unless you would prefer to wait for the detailed report.”
The professor nodded firmly. “Good work. Mrs. Arc here has spoken quite highly of you all. I believe you've earned a rest. Enjoy your extended weekend and deliver your report first thing Monday morning.”
“Ma'am!” Sophie responded in the affirmative, squaring her shoulders. Ruby must have spoken highly of them indeed if the famously strict Professor Goodwitch was being so lenient.
“Thanks for watching out for Ruby for me. I really appreciate it.”
Jaune approached, hand extended. “Oh, uh, Jaune, by the way,” he added quickly.
Sophie heard a quiet “oh, we know” from Tara behind her, followed by a burst of giggling. What were they on about?
Jaune went from girl to girl for introductions. Sophie accepted the handshake proudly, but her teammates were red-faced and giggling during their turns. How could they be so rude to Ruby's husband?
“Hey Professor?” Yang asked suddenly. “Mind if I take STRW here out for dinner? I wanna hear about Beacon.”
Sophie watched her partner practically vibrate in place as she waited for the answer.
“No wrecked nightclubs,” was all Professor Goodwitch said before turning away and leaving the group.
“Awwww yeeeeaaah, par-tay!” Tara cheered, giving an excited high five to Yang.
Ruby and Jaune, hand resting around his wife's shoulder, approached the group as they chatted excitedly about their upcoming night on the town.
“You guys did really well,” Ruby said, favoring each girl with a smile. “You're all welcome to come by Patch anytime, we'd love to have you.”
“Definitely,” Jaune added. “I wanna hear about your mission. Ruby always glosses over stuff.”
Ruby affectionately headbutted her husband's chest at that.
“Really though, come by this weekend. I'll make lunch, whatever you guys like. I'll have you know,” Jaune added proudly, “I'm a pretty crack chef.”
A quiet snort was all Sophie heard before Yang and the rest of Team STRW burst into laughter.
(Thanks again to the fantastically talented @zaheela for the art. Make sure to throw money at them. Happy 9 Days of Lancaster!)

HMB: Seven
Original Publishing Date: April 6th, 2018
Going into this movie, I knew two things; the serial killer was inspired by the seven deadly sins and the now famous "what's in the box" scene at the end. Thankfully neither ruined the film for me, and I thought this was good. I have a few problems, but Hell, that's what this blog is for. So like I said, Seven is about a serial killer who themed himself after the seven deadly sins. It's up to rookie detective Brad Bitt and soon-to-be retired detective Morgan Freeman to solve the case. My main issue with the movie is that there's a lot of talking. Now, I'm not saying every bit of exposition should be spoon fed to me, but film is a visual medium, and I would have liked it if there wasn't so many talking scenes. Now, some of these talking scenes were great. Others were boring. Mainly anything having to do with the serial killer was interesting, while anything having to do with B-plots bored me to tears. Of coarse, everything adds up in the end and it's not like the B-plots are just there for filler, but at the same time, I couldn't care less that Brad Pitt's wife didn't like the new city life. Thankfully though there was great visuals in the film, at least, when you can see it. I don't know if it was my dirty computer monitor or the movie really is that dark, but I was finding it hard to see throughout the film. Now, it's a film noir, so it seems dumb complaining that the movie is hard to see; and to be fair, I love dark visuals, it's just that, you know, maybe brighten it up a little bit? Whatever, time to get into spoilers. So this movie felt like it was building up to one great reveal, which I guess it kind of did, but not what you were expecting. The killer's identity wasn't a shocking reveal, he just showed up at the police station in the end. The "twist", if you can even call it that, is why the killer turned himself in. I thought the reason why he did so was pretty clever, however, I saw it coming as soon as connected the "what's in the box" scene. Speaking of which, let's talk about this scene, and why is it so iconic? Is it because it's how it was acted? Actually yes, that's exactly why it's memorable. Holy shit that was bad. In fact, it kind of pissed me off it was so bad. There was this perfect build up to the reveal. My hands were sweating, I was glued to the screen, I guessed what was going to happen, but I was still unsure. And then Brad Bitt acted. I didn't have a problem with him throughout the film, though I found him hard to understand sometimes due to his mumbling, but here it was just unforgivable. So yeah, the reason why the "what's in the box" scene is so iconic is because everyone's making fun of Brad Pitt's bad acting. It has nothing to do with the fact it was a shocking twist. But despite the ending, do I still recommend it? Kind of. It does get boring at some points, but once it gets back into the serial killer stuff, it's fantastic.

✦*⋆ RKPLAYLIST: JEON WONWOO !   — ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK
PART ONE — HARD TIMES !   * AKA CHILDHOOD !
HARD TIMES ♡ PARAMORE ! ( hard times; gonna make you wonder why you even try. hard times; gonna take you down and laugh when you cry. these lives; and I still don't know how I even survive. hard times, hard times. ) TW ABUSE // it only takes one glance at won to know that he doesn’t have a lot. it takes a slightly closer look to notice the bruising barely covered by the rags he often wears as clothes, the scar above his right eye, the flinch of his body whenever someone comes at him too fast— life, 'family’, haven’t been too good to won over the years. the only difference? won knows how he survived — because of who.
LUKA ♡ SUZANNE VEGA ! ( TW ABUSE // yes, I think I'm okay. I walked into the door again. well, if you ask that's what I'll say, and it's not your business anyway. I guess I'd like to be alone, with nothing broken, nothing thrown. just don't ask me how I am. ) TW ABUSE, NEGLECT // he can’t remember when the abuse from his brothers started — since forever, he’d say if asked (and comfortable enough to admit it). his parents, the same, in a way he doesn’t realise until later. feeding him scraps, leftovers instead of meals, giving him a few thousand won for his birthday and throwing seungwoo a party, locking him in his room when they don’t want to deal with him. even now, he makes excuses to hide the truth of it, lying easy after years of practice, because he doesn’t know how to help himself.
EMBARRASSMENT ♡ MADNESS ! ( how can you show your face, when you're a disgrace to the human race? ) TW ABUSE, HOMOPHOBIA // the words he’s reminded of every opportunity. if it’s not his parents recalling how much it costs to keep him fed and housed at their home, how he should be grateful, it’s any and everyone explaining the shame he brings to the family — that he’s a disgrace, disgusting because of who he loves.
LISTEN TO THIS SONG ♡ ROY KIM ! ( hey you, sitting over there. hey you, with your head down low. when it feels like the world will crash down, listen to this song. ) when he had nothing else that could offload the stress, the pain, he learnt to dance. he sang and moved until his legs gave out and he felt better, if only for long enough to keep going.
MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL PERSON ♡ BOWLING FOR SOUP ! ( and you don't feel so lucky, but I've seen so many things in you. believe me, I know just what you're going through. so stand up and take a bow, hold your head high. don't ever let them get you down. ) it took a long time for won to realise that said treatment he got from his family and fellow students is not what he deserves. he was easily convinced that he was the scum of the earth — how could he not have been with so many people telling him so? but his time would come, and it did. now he knows he’s, at best, the scum of his neighbourhood. that much, he can live with.
PART TWO — BRIGHTER !   * AKA PRESENT !
BRIGHTER ♡ PATENT PENDING ! ( maybe I'm crazy, yeah, a little naive, but the light at the end is brighter than it used to be. got a long way to go, but I know, I believe that the light at the end is brighter than it used to be. ) with mingyu and his family’s help, won has slowly grown to realise that he not only deserves better, but can be better — that the sun is still shining on endless possibilities for him if he works hard enough. judgement and limited resources might stop him from doing a lot of things, but it won’t stop him from trying.
LAST HOPE ♡ PARAMORE ! ( and the salt in my wounds isn't burning anymore than it used to. it's not that I don't feel the pain, it's just I'm not afraid of hurting anymore. ) TW HOMOPHOBIA // truthfully, after a few years, with a thicker skin in his later teens, hearing the same slurs and insults day in, day out, gets old. the hatred in their eyes still hits him just as hard, but he won’t hide anymore. he’s proud to be who he is, no matter what. he’s not afraid to be himself anymore. not for the most part, anyway.
WHO YOU ARE ♡ JESSIE J ! ( it's okay not to be okay. sometimes it's hard to follow your heart, but tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising; there's nothing wrong with who you are. ) another thing he’s come to realise with age is that it’s okay to admit things aren’t right; that talking about the hardships he’s been through and accepting the support mingyu and his family give him doesn’t make him any less strong — stronger, really. he’s still learning to allow them in — of course, it’s a long road — but he’s making significant progress.
THIS WILL BE THE DAY ♡ JEFF WILLIAMS & CASEY LEE WILLIAMS ! ( they see you as small and helpless, they see you as just a child. surprise when they find out that a warrior will soon run wild. ) he has no fantastical ideas of revenge towards his biological family, but he doesn’t intend to let them feel as if the suffering they’ve caused him over the years has left any imprint on him. he is instead passionate about making something of himself, living healthily and normally — his own victory; he won’t let them control him forever.
SUPERHEROES ♡ THE SCRIPT ! ( all his life he's been told he'll be nothing when he's old. all the kicks and all the blows, he won't ever let it show 'cause he's stronger than you know; a heart of steel starts to grow. ) he’s growing still. he’s growing into a strong, passionate young man, and he’ll prove to everyone that he can survive, thrive, even if all the odds are against him. he will.
BONUS TRACKS — BE THE LIGHT !   * AKA INSPIRATION !
BE THE LIGHT ♡ ONE OK ROCK ! ( some days just pass by and some days are unforgettable. we can’t choose the reason why, but we can choose what to do from the day after. so with that hope, with that determination, let’s make tomorrow a brighter and better day. ) written in honour of the survivors of the tohoku earthquake in japan two years on, ‘be the light’ aims to bring hope and strength to anyone around the world suffering. messages like these, that give those who are struggling the courage to keep pushing on, that help heal and unite people, are what won wants to convey in many of his own songs. it’s a topic, though not specific to natural disasters, that hits close to home for him, and he wants to help as many people as possible to remember that they are never alone — that there is always hope.
THE WHISKEY, THE LIAR, THE THIEF ♡ PATENT PENDING ! ( she bats her eyes and lies about her ring, he used the coin he stole to buy the drinks. never thought they'd find love drowning sorrows at the pub, the whiskey, the Liar, the thief! ) that being said, won also wants to write more light-hearted songs, too. he wants to write lyrics that you can sing along to as you drive down the street with the windows wide open. in regards to this track, won wants to write lyrics that tell stories. having always loved to read so he could lose himself in another world, won wants to paint a picture with the words he’s writing, have listeners fall in love with the characters introduced to them in only four or five minutes. and well, why not make it a little different? pirates, thieves, liars, villains... the bad guys have stories to tell, too.
MIROTIC ♡ DBSK ! ( I got you under my skin. ) won is, after all, a dancer any day over a vocalist, and the cherry on the cake would be to be part of a performance as a whole that becomes even slightly as iconic as this. it doesn’t have to be anything overly complicated, or as topless preferably, but nothing sounds as rewarding and fulfilling as being the original of a song future rookies will cover as a tradition and a honour. ( BONUS FOOTAGE ! )

CHOOSE YOUR FRANCHISE By Philip Rolz  Nov 7, 2017
I was lucky enough to go to a couple of Orlando Magic games back in the 90′s and 2000′s and fell in love. But living almost 2,000 miles away from the nearest NBA city made it hard for me to really root for a team, a city, a franchise. But like a drunken, low self esteem college girl with daddy issues I gave myself to the first one that wooed me... a Shaquille O’Neal and Penny Hardaway led expansion team in Florida. I’ve stuck with them ever since.
But it got me thinking, how do you choose a team? Are some teams more likely to be a fan favorite than others? What’s their fan-ability? Before I make my case I gotta tell you what I took into consideration making this list: how cool or uncool the city is, how good-looking their uniforms are, GM decisions over the years, iconic players, fan base, the culture of the organization, overall success or lack there of, team history. OK, here’s my list:
Atlanta Hawks
You can’t NOT love a place people refer to as “The dirty south”, I mean it sounds fun and rappers made it cool to root for Atlanta based teams (specially the Hawks and Falcons).
Dominique Wilkins and Spud Webb were the first real iconic players that put the Hawks on the map with their amazing athletic abilities. The rivalry with Jordan and the Bulls was real (both in real games and in dunk contests at All-Star Weekends) and people noticed them. They were fun to watch.
Ever since the “Dominique era” the franchise has been kind of a letdown though. Always underachieving and kinda disappearing in the clutch. 2014-2015 was a clear example of a roster that made a lot of noise but crapped their pants when it got real in the playoffs.
Currently they’re probably one on the top teams looking to tank this season to get a franchise defining rookie in this apparent “loaded” draft, so the Hawks aren’t really a team you root for this year but they have been fun to watch largely in part of high flying young players like John Collins and Taurean Prince.
Fan-ability: B-
  Boston Celtics
Tumblr media
The Celtics are one of the most successful franchises in sports. Their fan base is extremely loyal, somewhat violent and friggin’ loud. They might be responsible for starting the whole “superteams” trend some seem to hate, but when it comes down to it, it’s just good management and recruiting. Then there’s the legendary Celtic players from oldies Bill Russell and Larry Bird to not so oldies Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. These guys are deified by the hardcore Boston fans and man have they come through with epic playoff performances and hard nosed triumphs.  Nowadays they seem to expect a LOT from the young roster GM Danny Ainge put together majestically and guess what? They are they fun to watch. Kyrie Irving has the most insane handles in the league and I haven’t seen a small guard finish as efficiently in the paint since Tony Parker’s best days. The Celtics are also very similar to the Spurs when it comes to drafting well which is a big thing for fans looking for franchises to root for when there’s youth and potential. Will Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown be the NBA’s next studs? Will Markelle Fultz be a complete bust? (therefore making the Celtics even smarter)  The Celtics are NBA Elite and that makes them either really loved or really hated.  Fan-ability: B+
Brooklyn Nets
Tumblr media
Brooklyn, New York. Home of everything cool in the world, right? Wrong! The Brooklyn Nets seem to be a forced fed team (notice the cheesy SI cover above) completely divorced with the whole swagger of this New York borough. Nobody wants to be associated with failure, and the Nets have been failures in so many ways during the last years it’s embarrassing. They basically gave away all their draft picks, they over-hyped a Deron Williams that was arguably one of the biggest free agent busts of all time. Their iconic players? Dr J? Jason Kidd? Kerry Kittles (just kidding)? Kinda feels weird picking guys who did play for the Nets, just not the Brooklyn Nets. I feel bad for them though, playing in one of the biggest markets in the country and not being known for enticing big name free agents, not even with Jay-Z helping them out for a little while. I’m pretty certain HOVA wanted out before the stink rubbed off on him.  They haven’t drafted well, they’re not fun to watch, they’ve become synonymous with losing. The only good thing they have going for them is the fact that Brooklyn is a tourist destination and there’s a chance some tourist will buy a Nets ticket before a Knicks ticket.
Fan-ability: D+
Charlotte Hornets
Remember those big flashy Starter Jackets with the Charlotte Hornets logo plastered all over them? Those were the days! The Hornets used to be good and/or fun. An Alonzo Mourning team alongside Larry “Grandmama” Johnson, Muggsy Bogues and Steph Curry’s dad (who apparently could shoot very well, too) was a fun thing to watch.
Several years later it all went straight to hell with the Bobcats. Let’s face it, when you think of the Bobcats you think of a bunch of scrubs and Adam Morrison. Good God!
Now they’re back to being the Hornets, although, they’re still not that fun. They don’t have Zo they have Dwight Howard, one of the least likeable players out there. They don’t have LJ, they have Frank Kaminsky (crickets chirping). They don’t have Muggsy they have Kemba Walker... ok that’s better. And instead of Dell Curry they have a rookie who I’m really rooting for: Malik Monk.
They’re ok. They’re not super exciting but they have some star power. Hopefully this year the young guards can do some damage down the stretch and maybe be a sneaky team in the playoffs.
Fan-ability: B+
Chicago Bulls
Tumblr media
You think Bulls, you think MJ, his Airness, the G.O.A.T.
For younger fans you think D.Rose being drafted by his hometown team and making them a force to be reckoned with in the East and dethroning the King with a 2010-2011 MVP award.
But it’s 2017 now. The face of the franchise is a blonde kid from Finland named Lauri Markkanen and the face of Nikola Mirotic was obliterated by fellow teammate Bobby Portis. Well maybe not obliterated, but I hear it was a heck of a knockout.
It really doesn’t matter how bad GM Gar Foreman and owner Jerry Reinsdorf have been, because what Michael Jordan did for the NBA he did for this NBA franchise as well. Fans crave for the second coming of Michael and until that day comes (I’m pretty sure it’ll never happen) the first thing you’ll think of when you see a red Bulls jersey is #23.
Fan-ability: A-
Cleveland Cavaliers
Tumblr media
I’ve never been to Cleveland. I don’t think I’ll ever go there. Not really a bucket list destination.  But I have to admit, LeBron James made Cleveland relevant since the day he was drafted by his hometown team. He was the chosen one entering the league and did not disappoint. He carried a really weak team to an NBA Finals versus a really strong San Antonio Spurs team (and lost). Took his talents to South Beach making everybody in the league feel sorry for the Cavs. As soon as he ditched Miami to go back to “The Land” they were legit once more. LBJ is no MJ however. Some people seem to dislike his demeanor, question his clutch gene and doubt his leadership. He is a little whiny sometimes. Yet no one has denied that LeBron is still the best player on the planet and has been for the better part of his career. I mean it feel like its been 30 straight NBA Finals for him.  He’s great. He made Cleveland great. Even if he leaves this upcoming season, Cleveland should be forever grateful for everything King James has done. And because people enjoy experiencing greatness the Cavaliers are a fan favorite. (Me personally, not really a fan) Fan-ability: A
Dallas Mavericks
Tumblr media
A lanky slow-ish blonde forward from Würzburg, Germany made the Dallas Mavericks NBA champions against, non other than, the chosen one (or as Skip Bayless likes to call him “the frozen one”). But aside from being lany, kinda slow and uh... blonde, Dirk Nowitzki is one of the top 20 greatest players of all time, one of my personal favorite players and proud owner of one of the sweetest fade away jumpers ever. 2010-2011 was the Mavericks championship season and man was it a well constructed team that no matter if you love or hate outspoken owner Mark Cuban, you gotta hand it to him. Combining veteran leaders like Jason Kidd and Jason Terry with defensive anchor Tyson Chandler and freaks of nature like Shawn Marion was the recipe for success under the brilliant mind of one of the most underrated coaches, Rick Carlisle. You felt glad they were champions. It wasn’t a “super team” but it was really really good and they were underdogs against a Miami team that promised not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, etc. championships. After the ‘chip they remained relevant until maybe last season. Dirk is rapidly aging and this really seems like it’s gonna be his last season. To be honest I’ve stopped watching Mavericks games because this is not the Dirk I want to remember. I do watch a lot of highlights though, mostly because of rookie Dennis Smith, Jr. Holy cow! That kid looks like he was made with the same stuff Russell Westbrook was made from. DSJr is another rookie I’m really rooting for, specially because he’s in great hands with old man Dirk to guide him and Rick Carlisle to coach him and get the best out of him. It’s a winning franchise in a hip warm weather city, with a wild celebrity owner, an iconic international player and champion, with a lot of young talent. Nuff said. Fan-ability: A-
Denver Nuggets
I think the Nuggets’ greatest moment in franchise history was the improbable win against the #1 seeded Sonics in 1994. Big whoop. There were other highlights in franchise history like drafing Melo (who later demanded a trade outta there). They did have Allen Iverson on their team, but then they traded him to Detroit because he wasn’t the 76ers Allen Iverson of old.    And this is the part where I want to talk about Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf. He was a muslim player (duh!) and was unbelievably good. But he was a muslim. Many compare his game to Steph Curry’s. But he was a muslim. He had crazy handles, the highest basketball IQ and one sweet jumpshot. But he was a muslim, and he started the whole Colin Kaepernick thing where he protested during anthems. Oh boy. Can you imagine a guy named Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf protesting in front of thousands of proud americans back in the 90′s? Yeah, that was the end of that. It’s really sad to wonder how good he would’ve been. At least Ice Cube gave him a shot in the BIG3. Anyway, back to the Denver Nuggets franchise comprised of young exciting talent but not a clear cut superstar. Nikola Jokic is really entertaining but is enough to make the Nuggets relevant? Millsap just joined them, but let’s face it he’s a really good boring player. Garry Harris was supposed to have a breakout year and it’s still early but he’s been a little too quiet for my taste. Jamal Murray, Emmanuel Mudiay seem a long way from being relevant and Kenneth Faried hasn’t been traded after 1,864,227 times it’s been rumored. The biggest indicator the Nuggets are in trouble is the fact that their own fans don’t show up as they finished last in attendance last season. Yikes! Fan-ability: F
Detroit Pistons
Tumblr media
Personally I can’t really talk about the Bad Boy Pistons from the 80′s because I didn’t really get into the NBA until a little later. But from what I’ve heard and read, I really dig it. An uber-defensive team that wasn’t scared of anything or anyone. Hard nosed defenders, clutch shooting, trash talking and an iconic coach kinda sound like... hey! The 2004 champion Pistons! The comparison just goes to show that a culture within a franchise can go a long way.  The 2004 Pistons were tough, smart and had the winning mentality that I’m sure legendary coach Larry Brown implemented in the locker room. Big Ben was scary big even though he wasn’t as tall as your traditional center. ‘Sheed was a bad man with a sick jumper and a f*ck you attitude. Rip and Chauncey were the smart and offensively skilled guard combo. Okur, Tayshaun and McDyess played their roles just right. To this day I can’t believe they beat Kobe, Shaq and another “superteam”.  The Pistons of 2017 however lack some of that old school attitude. It’s well coached (shout out to Stan Van G) but no very well managed (sorry Stan Van G). Drummond is a huge piece of human who can block shots, dunk over anyone and has kind of improved the free throw issues of the past. Reggie Jackson seems to be a conflictive dude lacking the leadership of a Chauncey Billups. Tobias Harris who’s good but would’ve been better in a different era. Today’s NBA doesn’t really work for a guy like him. It’s not a roster you can nip and tuck and turn into a legitimate force in the NBA, to me it feels like it’s either this group of guys to maybe get past the first round of the playoffs or blow it all up and tank away to get younger and better. Can we send Avery Bradley to the Celtics, please?  Overall, it’s a city with a lot of heart and a franchise with a lot of history but right now who knows what they are? Fan-ability: B-
Golden State Warriors
My first memory of the Golden State Warriors is Chris Mullin’s hair and short shorts. Tim Hardaway’s crossovers. Latrell Sprewell’s angry two handed dunks (also angry head coach chokings) and an underachieving Chris Webber. But that’s all in the past. Even the good stuff like the Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson Warriors that made a lot of noise in the 2006 playoffs. That’s all irrelevant now because things changed in the bay area. Mark Jackson started coaching a young group of really promising guys and started a style of play that later Steve Kerr, who replaced him as head coach, perfected and made history. I don’t need to talk about how good Steph Curry is and how he revolutionized the game or how good of a shooter/defender/heat check guy Klay is. Or how Draymond is the new villain and best defender in the NBA or how Durant made this team virtually invincible... because everybody knows it. The only thing that worried me was if I would ever get bored of this team; short answer: NO. Again, people like greatness and the bar set by these basketball juggernauts is so high it’s become ridiculous. People call them “bandwagon fans” but it’s really just a matter of wanting to feel part of something as special as this group of future hall of famers... that and they’re totally bandwagon fans. Bandwagon fan-bility: A+
Houston Rockets
Tumblr media
Probably not gonna be on the same page as a lot of people here but I’ve always found Rockets players kind of douchey. Maybe not the championship Rockets Olajuwon, Drexler, Horry or Cassell. More like Steve Francis, the worst version of Dwight Howard, and now James Harden AND Chris Paul. Yes, I said it. James Harden is a douchebag. He gets a lot of points, has become an elite point guard but his game isn’t really that exciting... and he’s a whiny flopper.
They have a lot of history and a bunch of iconic players but ever since the championship years in the mid 90′s we haven’t gotten a dominant conference shifting team. Today’s roster is a poor man’s Golden State Warriors and they’ll eventually find out (the hard way) that in a 7 game series you won’t outshoot or outscore the Dubs. OK, I’ve really bashed the Rockets here, but don’t get me wrong I have to give credit where credit is due: James Harden is an MVP caliber player and Chris Paul is the point God but nobody likes ‘em. Indiana Pacers
Back in the day the Pacers of Reggie Miller, Mark Jackson, Rik Smits, Derrick McKey and Antonio & Dale Davis were for real. They had shooting, rebounding, star power, coaching ...they had it all! It’s a shame that Michael Jordan and the Kobe/Shaq combo never let Reggie and the Pacers win a championship. A decade later the Pacers found themselves with a very strong group of talented players that made LeBron and the Heatles a little nervous. Paul George the emerging superstar along Lance Stephenson, Roy Hibbert and company were battling LeBron down to the last second but eventually falling short. Paul George broke his leg got better and basically told everyone in Indiana to go screw themselves because he would leave them for his hometown Lakers. Now he’s in OKC as a rental and Indiana has highly motivated Victor Oladipo (fan favorite in Indiana) Arvydas Sabonis’ son and what’s left of Lance Stephenson. They should be tanking this year but they’re not in large part because of phenom Myles Turner and a rejuvenated Thad Young. So, what are they? Good? Mediocre? Bad? At this point, we don’t really know.  It’s a small market team with no real superstar anymore and a lot of young talent that could either shine or implode. Fan-ability: D
L.A. Clippers
Tumblr media
CP3 leaving means the Clippers are now terrible, right? Nope. Point Blake is for real, DeAndre looks like he’s having fun again and all the role players seem engaged. Oh! And this guy with the scruffy beard is their 30 year old rookie point guard who’s soooo fun to watch. What about the history of the franchise? Well, it’s no pretty. The Clippers were synonymous with failure for a long time. They were terrible at attracting free agents, terrible at drafting (i.e. Michael Olowakandi) until they put together what would become Lob City. It was fun but not very successful.  Los Angeles is sexy and cool but you don’t really think Clippers, you think Lakers, even when the Clippers have clearly been the better basketball team for the last 3 or 4 years now. With the Lakers making a comeback it’s becoming more obvious that the the Clippers should just move north and become the beloved Seattle Sonics.  Fan-ability: C+
L.A. Lakers
Tumblr media
Showtime is back in L.A.! Not particularly because of their style of play but because of all the buzz the young players have caused and the circus surrounding Lonzo Ball, who in his first month playing in the NBA looks... different from what Lavar promised. It’s okay, nobody really expected Lonzo to be better than LeBron, Steph and God in his first games. The bottom line is Lonzo not bad and could become really good! Ingram is looking pretty good (just needs an extra 50 lbs) and I’m predicting he could become a Greek Freak type of superstar. But enough about the Baby Lakers, who we know are gonna be alright eventually, let’s talk about the incredibly successful franchise throughout the years. Ugh! Can’t believe I just said something nice about the Lakers. Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and of course Kobe Bryant are one of the biggest names in the history of the league and they’re all Lakers (shout out to Nick Van Exel, one of my favorite players ever). I was blessed to witness the early 2000′s reign of Shaq and Kobe (even though I kept thinking what would’ve happened if Shaq stayed in Orlando) and their epic battles with the Spurs.  Let’s face it, the Lakers are the Yankees of basketball. People love the city of Los Angeles and they root for what the Lakers were and what they could eventually become once again. Fan-ability: A+
Memphis Grizzlies
They’ve come a long way from those Vancouver days when their best player was Bryant “Big Country” Reeves. They established a culture of hard work reminiscent of the city they play for. They created “Grit and Grind” and should be very proud of it. The history of the franchise is a little iffy since they were really bad for a really long time (normal for an expansion team in small markets).  Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Tony Allen and Z-Bo put the league on notice and transformed a joke of a franchise to a legitimate contender. The roster has been almost completely revamped but Gasol and Conley are keeping the “Grit and Grind” very much alive. For how long? Only time will tell (hopefully as long as possible). Fan-ability: C+
Miami Heat
Fun fact: Did you know the Miami Heat won a championship without LeBron James? Yup!  Here’s another one for you: Did you know the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks hated each other and had a bunch of epic playoff battles back in the 90′s and early 2000′s? Hell yeah! My point is Miami has had a lot history before the LeBron and Heatles “superteam” nonsense. Pat Riley is largely responsible for all of it. And this post LeBron phase hasn’t been as terrible as you’d expect because this well oiled machine of a franchise keeps drafting, signing and getting all the right pieces to be contenders in a very weak Eastern Conference. They’re still a couple of moves away from being the top dogs so don’t be surprised if they make some moves during this season or once the season is over. The city of Miami is fun and sexy and so are the Heat fans. As long as Pat Riley is there they’re gonna be relevant and in the conversation. Fan-ability: B+
New Orleans Pelicans
As Tony Montana famously once said: “Manny, look at the pelican fly. Come on, pelican!” refering to some flamingos he was watching on TV. I kind of feel that way when I’m watching these guys play... I think I’m watching two of the best big men in the game along with some decent role players but I’m really just watching a franchise with no idea of what they’ll do when they inevitably lose both their big men (AD & Boogie) and return to being bad (worse). My second thing about this franchise: how are we supposed to root for a team called the Pelicans?! Wait... their arena is called the “Smoothie King Center”? OK, I’m done.
Weird to not root for a team that has 2 of the top 15 players in the league. Fan-ability: F
New York Knicks
Tumblr media
New York IS basketball. When you walk around this magnificent city you breathe basketball. Some of the best street ballers are New Yorkers. Yet, the Knicks haven’t been as great as Knicks fan expect them to be (not in the last 3 or 4 seasons anyway). Owner James Dolan is not exactly a fan favorite, Phil Jackson left without accomplishing what he was hired to accomplish, Charles Oakley has been banned from MSG (yes, the former Knicks legend) and the Melo-drama of last year(s) was quite frankly very annoying. So yeah, it’s been pretty brutal. It’s seems like a very long time because their last championship was in 1973 but there have been some really interesting, talented and semi-successful Knicks teams since Bernard King’s epic finals performance. One of the most sought after rookies landed in MSG and had a really good career (Patrick Ewing) and the aforementioned Charles Oakley along with John Starks, Anthony Mason and Doug Christie among others were talented, feisty, tough and relentless enough to reach the finals against a really loaded Rockets team. Then there’s Van Gundy’s squad with Ewing, Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell, Larry Johnson and Marcus Camby who played the role of the underdog from day 1 until they reached the finals which they once again lost, this time against a dynastic Spurs. As of today the Knicks, minus Carmelo Anthony, have been quite surprising and own of the most precious assets in basketball: a unicorn. Kristaps Porzingis has won the heart of every single Knicks fan because of the dog in him, something very important to a city that values hard work. His stellar numbers and the potential of becoming a very unique type of player (hence the nickname “unicorn”) might be that x-factor that brings the championship back to the mecca. All they have to do is be patient, avoid the drama (hard to do with the New York media) and draft well... let’s hope Frankie Smokes is the perfect compliment to KP’s amazing talent. Oh, and please pray to the basketball gods... no injuries, please! Fan-ability: A-
Oklahoma City Thunder
You know what helps building a fan base when your not the coolest city in the world? Superstars! Oklahoma City has had some of the biggest names in the NBA play for them: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Serge Ibaka. More unbelievable? They played together! Just goes to show what a great GM (Sam Presti) and great scouts will do to a franchise. Even with all these amazing atheletes on their team they really never got to win it all. KD and Russ were an unbelievable duo but many wondered if they didn’t really compliment eachother... maybe KD needed more of a playmaker, maybe Russ needed more of a role player and shine on his own. Well KD left to join the ridiculously talented Dubs (and won the title) and Russ won the MVP averaging a triple double.  Now they have even more star power adding hoodie Melo and Paul George to the mix and hoping this trio will knock down the reign of the all mighty Warriors (highly unlikely).  Superstars aside, OKC really has had an uphill battle developing a fan base in such a small market and have done so beautifully.  Fan-ability: B+
Orlando Magic
Whoa! This is hard for me. I’m probably gonna bash the franchise I first loved (and still do for some strange reason). My best memories as a kid are in Orlando when me and my whole family went to Disney World, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, so I’m a little bias. Imagine a kid from Guatemala city going to a basketball game in a jam packed arena where Shaquille O’Neal and Penny Hardaway put on a show. Done deal! I’m a Magic fan for life.  Orlando somehow managed to lose Shaq by lowballing him in an almost  offensive way comparing him to other players in the league and criticizing his rebounding and defense in an attempt to “negotiate” a deal that wouldn’t mean breaking the bank for Shaq. But guess what? For Shaq, you DO break the bank and by not doing so they broke the heart of every Orlando Magic fan. So Shaq left and it took a long time to recover. 13 years later Dwight Howard somehow managed to go to an NBA Finals with a very weird and well coached Magic team that seemed content to just get there, and let’s face it, didn’t really have a shot against the Lakers.  Then, Rob Hennigan happened. Bad draft picks, horrible free agent signings and head scratching trades were the norm under this guy. Even though he’s still no longer with the team the stench of his horrible decisions still linger over the very bizarre roster today’s Magic have assembled. Granted the beginning of this season has been a very pleasant surprise many people feel it’s just a phase in which a lot of “bad teams” started hot and will eventually fall back down to earth. I’m just trying to believe they might snatch the East’s 8th spot and finally be back in the playoff picture, but... why? Shouldn’t they just tank and hope to get ANOTHER draft pick? Who knows? All I know is Aaron Gordon is finally playing some decent basketball and I have really high expectations from rookie Jonathan Isaac and might eventually become a steal in the draft.  Fan-ability: D
Philadelphia 76ers
Tumblr media
Oh God! The Process. The day they win a championship I’ll tolerate the Process. I feel awful for the Philly fans that had to endure such a long run of shameless, utter failure while being the laughing stock of the whole league. Having the commissioner actually getting involved in the team’s plan to continue sucking has got to be embarrassing. But 76ers fans have shown they always trusted the process and are now celebrating as if Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons are the next best thing since sliced bread, but I have to remind every Sixer fan once in a while that they drafted Michael Carter-Williams and traded him for nothing, Nerlens Noel and traded him for nothing and Jahlil Okafor, who’ll be traded for nothing... so let’s not get too excited just yet. We still have to find out what Markelle Fultz becomes. The level of incompetence they endured for so long actually made us all root for them making them the most lovable underdog in history and thus captivating a new fan base of people rooting for the eternal losers to finally get a break. They used to be good though. Real good. Mostly because they had Allen Iverson, the best pound for pound player ever. Those A.I. teams were surrounded by a bunch of scrubs, role players and stiffs that watched “The Answer” in awe as he dismantled every opponent they faced. The team had a superstar and a lot of heart that would eventually take the finals against another almost invincible Lakers team, that for a second, crapped their pants when Allen Iverson tore them apart in Game 1. Eventually L.A. won 4 straight and the series was over. Philadelphia was praised for valiantly battling a star studded team with a minuscule scorer along with a bunch of unknowns (so yeah, they’ve always been the lovable underdogs). In a very “Rocky” way, Philadelphia always seems to be forced against the ropes and fighting back the best way they can.  Fan-ability: B
Phoenix Suns
It’s hard to imagine a time where the Phoenix Suns were a great Western Conference team. They were. My first memories of good Suns teams was the Barkley, KJ and Majerle led team. Then there’s the Nash-Stoudemire era where the battles against their Western Conference nemesis were pretty epic. It’s seems like its been forever since the glory days for the Suns. They had a nice little run not long ago with a trio of guards that are really good (Eric Bledsoe, Goran Dragic and Isaiah Thomas) but seemed like they handled it very poorly only ending the very brief run with some questionable GM decisions. Overall the Suns are franchise that hasn’t really clicked and found a clear path to becoming a fun team to watch. The Suns are very young and do have a great-to-be shooting guard in Devin Booker, but they’re probably 4 years from being competitive again and some young players like Bender, Marquese Chriss and Josh Jackson have to prove their worth in the next upcoming seasons. Trading Bledsoe seems like it could be a fresh start and open up some very important playing time for the younger talent. So brace yourselves, it’s not gonna be pretty. Fan-ability: C-
Portland Trailblazers
Tumblr media
Hispters rejoice! There’s no doubt that rooting for the Blazers is the cool thing to do since nobody really trusts their backcourt defense, bench or bother to give Dame Dolla (a.k.a. Damien Lillard) an All-Star nod.  CJ McCollum and Damien Lillard think they’re the best backcourt in the NBA and it’s a legitimate claim since they score at will against any and every defender. When it comes to clutch shooting... you know it’s Dame Time! I personally find the Blazers a really fun team to watch and when you think about it, it’s been the case for a very long time. Awesome Blazer players throughout the years: Clifford Robinson (headband included), Jerome Kersey, Rod Strickland, Arvydas Sabonis, Rasheed Wallace, Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge are just some of the names that made this cool-ass city much much cooler. They’ve been relevant but haven’t really won a championship but at least they’ve been to one. Even if they’ve lost more than they’ve won they are definitly a cool team. Fan-ability: B+
Sacramento Kings
Before owner Vivek Ranadivé thought Nik Stauskas was the next best thing, before they drafted every single big while having arguably the best center in the league in Boogie Cousins and confusing everybody with every single poor decision the Kings were exciting.
Can it be argued that Jason “White Chocolate” Williams was the most entertaining point guard of the last 25 years? I certainly think so. He put the Kings on the map along with a very productive Chris Webber, the shooter extraordinaire of Peja Stojakovic and a bunch of really good role players. They kind of underachieved but looking back on that team, they might have been a little too young and flashy. The only time they made the NBA Finals was unfortunately in the movie “How to lose a guy in 10 days”. They lost those fake finals to the Knicks, how about that?
They might be making a comeback, though. The fun team they used to be could once again excite us basketball fans with rookie phenom De'Aaron Fox, second year shooting guard Buddy Hield, big man Willy Cauley-Stein and the rest of the young core. After all the DeMarcus Cousins drama they dealt with I sincerely hope they find their way with this young squad and make the Kings games a must watch. Fan-ability: C
San Antonio Spurs
Tumblr media
You know how some organizations are so good they become kind of annoying and after a while they stop being annoying again because you’re in awe of how well they do everything? That’s the San Antonio Spurs.
Only the Spurs can reach the playoffs a record setting 20 consecutive years (also the longest active playoff streak in any major North American sports league as of 2017) and keep drafting really good under the radar rookies, who eventually turn out to be really good. You can’t talk about the Spurs without talking about Tim Duncan or Gregg Popovich, and even though there have been a lot of other amazing Spurs players (David Robinson, Manu, Tony Parker, Sean Elliott, now Kawhi, etc.) it’s Pop and Timmy’s dynasty. And is it just me or was Gregg Popovich really unlikable back when we didn’t really know him? He seemed like a real a**hole but now people want him to be the next President.
They are an iconic dynasty that will be a trademark of greatness for years and years to come. Watching Timmy retire was hard, I can’t imagine what’ll be like when Pop calls it quits.

Toronto Raptors
Tumblr media
All Star Weekends aren’t really important. I was always a fan of these long, flashy, ceremonious events, but not really. It’s like it’s supposed to happen and it’s kinda like the mid-season awards in a way but it’s definitely not a big deal. In the year 2000 (shout out to Conan) though, it mattered, mainly because of the Canada’s basketball ambassador unbelievable display of amazingness and athletic dunk display that became, and still is, the single best dunk contest in the history basketball. Vince Carter was “Air Canada” but eventually it became a messy divorce with the franchise and once again became a sub par team. Nowadays they a decent top 3 team in the Leastern Conference, but I don’t expect them to go further than the second round of the playoffs, even though Masai Ujiri managed to assemble a nice roster that inlcudes the Big Medium 3 of: Lowry, DeRozan and Ibaka. The Raptors have always been ok and cool to root for (they are the only non U.S. team in the league, and that might be a plus) and the list of iconic players is actually pretty decent: Vince, T-Mac, Damon “Mighty Mouse” Stoudamire, Marcus Camby and Skip to my Lou (Rafer Alston). The most notable Raptors fan nowadays is Toronto’s rapper Drake (see also: Nav Bhatia) which really boosts popularity for the franchise, even when we know LeBron will have his way with the Raps come playoff time. Fan-ability: B+
Utah Jazz
Ok, first things first... let me just say that the biggest oxymoron is this franchise’s name. Has there ever been actual jazz played in the Mormon state? (shout out to Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the hilarious “Book of Mormon” musical) Now that I got that out of the way, let’s go ahead and analyze the franchise. They’ve been a really well coached team for the most part (Jerry Sloan and now Quin Snyder) and even when they’re lacking star power they seem to be that team you don’t want to face. They’re really good at drafting and developing young talent and that translates into really feisty hard working potential all-stars... that eventually leave via free agency, probably because Utah isn’t the sexiest place in the world. Deron Williams was on his way of becoming the best point guard in the league and almost overnight became an expendable bench player. Gordon Hayward was the big white hope but opted to join forces with his former Butler head coach in Boston and got injured 5 minutes into his Celtic debut... wait is this a “Leave Utah curse” theory? Nah. Hayward will be alright... I hope. The 90′s and 2000′s were different though, Utah was a star studded franchise always representing the west come playoff time mainly because of the one the best duos of all time: Karl Malone and John Stockton. Although they never got to win the championship they’ll always be remembered as a legit force in the league. As for now, let’s just hope Rudy Gobert keeps developing into the best dang Center in the league... he certainly has the potential. Rodney Hood (awesome name by the way) needs to become an offensive force and most importantly be consistent. Dante Exum sadly, hasn’t really lived up to the hype and I believe has reached his ceiling. They are what all Jazz teams are, gritty and tough. Fan-ability: C+
Washington Wizards
Tumblr media
DC’s team is and has always been a conundrum. Wizards teams have been pretty good on paper but none of them, including a Michael Jordan led team, could really make them relevant (granted MJ was getting pretty old and wasn’t in the best shape). It seems the current team is the best the franchise has had in a long time, yet they’re not close to being a Conference favorite. Do the Wizards have big names? Yup, John Wall is in the prime of a stellar career. Bradley Beal has proven he can stay healthy and stay productive. Otto Porter got paid All-Star money and should become one for this team to really go further. Are they well coached? Debatable, but I believe Scott Brooks is a huge improvement over several of the last coaches in Washington. Now the big question is can they actually dethrone Cleveland? The other big question is whether this roster is built for the future like Boston is. Sadly, my answer for both these questions is no. They had their share of bad draft picks (Kwame Brown most notably), players gone bad (Gilbert Arenas, Juwan Howard) iconic players that never really transcended or carried the franchise (MJ, Chris Webber), but the bottom line is they’re a cool franchise to root for (used to be cooler when they were the “Bullets”) in a cool city. Hopefully one day they’ll become a legitimate championship contending team. Maybe if they figure out how to get Boogie Cousins that’ll happend sooner rather than later. Fan-ability: B-
