I know there’s a lot of turmoil in the Horizon fandom right now  but I just wanted to say that you remain one of the coolest people I have ever known in this fandom. You make amazing content and support so many WLW ships. You’re always up for crazy Theories and headcanons, and are kind to anonymous commenters,  even when they badly jumble their words and sound like they’re being mean, which I’ve definitely done by mistake but you understood my true intent, even before I clarified. You know what? Usually I reply to these kinds of asks with a hilariously zany meme and some earnest capslocked gratitude. But I want to be super, super serious and genuine with my appreciation for this one. It's so flattering and fulfilling to hear you say this. Honestly, tearing up a little. I do wanna talk about the current unsteadiness in the fandom. No matter what, Burning Shores has shown us one very, very important thing: Horus terrifying protect Gildun with our lives Aloy is beautifully, canonically, fantastically queer. This is the central takeaway and something to fuckin' celebrate, everyone. Representation matters--and for sure, unabashed representation like this is so absolutely crucial in today's world. Guerrilla has done an incredible thing and it's an utter amazement to have received it.

But beyond that: nothing else has changed. We absolutely do not need to be engaging in bickering and discourse. Everyone is still entitled to their headcanons and (respectfully-stated!) opinions. No ships have been sunk. There is a place in this fandom for everyone. I don't want to start having to avoid bitterness in this space that's given me such solace and joy and community over the last few years. That's no way for a group of people to share in the enjoyment of something.

Everything is still SO fresh and new, but it’s high time to begin evaluating our responses—especially with GG's quiet announcement of the third game being in development. I’m so mad that Louis didn’t just answer Lestat properly during their fight and say whether or not he still loved Lestat. “Let me go,” felt like such a cruel response because it neither freed Lestat nor gave him hope for their relationship. Moondrop eats the dead.

Moondrop’s corpse-eating addiction started many many years ago when the isles were mostly bare. Moon would save all the food for Sunrise so he could eat on the many weeks they’d go starving, but eventually was forced eat a human body when the circumstances came about.

Then it just kept happening - he’d keep his hunger at bay until he was forced to save himself, and that loop kept going until eventually he started getting a taste for it. By the time food was bountiful, he didn’t care for it as much.

Sunrise finds this a little morbid/disturbing, but not overly bad, more of just something to work on. He won’t intervene unless Moondrop wants him to, and so far, there are no signs.

It comes to him in hunger pangs, or at least what he interprets as hunger. In reality, it’s more of a physical anxiety response the same way humans experience headaches and stomach-aches from stress. In an attempt to end the pain he just keeps eating and eating until it goes away, so he just thinks it’s the flesh soothing it.

Does he feel guilty? Oh, it tears him up from the inside, but he’s gotten so good at lying about it he’s fooled even himself.

The two of them find no issue in dragging sailors to their watery graves or coaxing an islander to jump to their death. It’s their territory, and they can do whatever they want in it. That’s how it’s been, that’s how it always will be.

But… Moondrop can’t help but feel a little sick about actually eating the corpses. It’s not necessarily that he sees it as wrong, he just doesn’t like it. Something about how easily they tear apart, how they no longer writhe on the sea floor, how they look so much like their living counterparts up above who have a fighting chance.

They’re dead, it’s not like they’re using their bodies anymore. He’ll threaten and flirt about how much he loves the taste of flesh and bone, despite it all. He’s a predator, believes he’s a predator, and is gonna act like a predator. The guilt haunts his nightmares and his guts in hunger pangs, but he’ll still laugh when someone’s bleeding out because of him.

Lan Zhan's been very busy. The Lan enterprise is opening another branch, but they ran into some rather disastrous difficulties and fixing it takes all of Lan Zhan's time. Wei Ying understands.
