Hydration Powder Drink - Why You Should Use It
Rehydration powders are the drinks of choice when you need to replenish fluids lost through sweat or illness. And they're essential after diarrhea, blood loss, or vomiting to replace the salts and minerals lost through these processes. But there are many more reasons to use rehydration powders, including lowering your risk of dehydration during exercise, preventing dehydration in children suffering from diarrhea, or fighting nausea caused by stomach viruses or chemotherapy drugs. If you want to learn more about why you should be using rehydration powders in your everyday life, read on!
It's Instant
When you're sick or don't feel well, for that matter, you can't wait. You want instant relief from your symptoms, and that's exactly what rehydration powders provide. Mix it up with a glass of water and get back to feeling good in minutes! No other cure on earthworks as fast as hydration powder drink. However, once you start drinking water regularly again, your body flushes out any liquids it doesn't need through urination or bowel movements, so it doesn't stay in your system long enough to help with hydration. But what if there was a way to get nutrients directly into our systems where they could be absorbed quickly? This is where dehydration powders come in handy.
It's Portable
Rehydration powders are designed to dissolve easily in water, meaning they're easy to carry and can provide hydration on the go. Rehydration powders may be a good option for athletes looking for a replacement for sugary energy drinks and who don't want (or need) to stop for an electrolyte drink during a workout. Rehydrating after exercise is important too; it helps your body repair muscles you broke down while exercising, but sometimes water just doesn't cut it. If you're dehydrated, drinking plain water may leave you feeling more tired than before—and then you're probably not going to want to start your next workout with 100% effort.
It's Lightweight And Compact
A good thing about rehydration powders is that they are lightweight and compact, making them extremely portable. Since they come in a dehydrated state, you don't have to worry about carrying a ton of extra weight with you on your adventures! Whether you're climbing mountains or going camping for a few days, it's really convenient to be able to pull out a small pouch of powder rather than heavy bottles.
You Can Fill Multiple Containers
The great thing about these products is that you can use them to fill several different types of containers. You don't have to just use one and move on; you can purchase multiple sizes and switch them out as necessary. This is perfect for athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone else who finds themselves drinking a lot of fluids throughout their day. Instead of constantly buying new bottles, simply buy a larger container and be good to go.
You Can Refill And Replenish
Keeping your body hydrated is important, especially when training. When you know you're going to be sweating, keep a shaker bottle filled with an electrolyte replacement drink so that you can refill and replenish quickly after your workout. You may even want to have more than one shaker on hand! A good rule of thumb is to consume 0.5 ounces of fluids for every pound lost during exercise, so if you lose two pounds while working out, drink one full liter of water over the next 24 hours. This will help get your body back into balance after intense physical activity or exercise—which means faster recovery times.

Can Dogs Eat Dill Pickles? What Are The Risk?
New Post has been published on https://www.petculiars.com/can-dogs-eat-dill-pickles/
Can Dogs Eat Dill Pickles? What Are The Risk?
You should try to avoid giving your dog dill pickles, even in small bites, as treats. It’s not the dill that is considered poisonous or toxic for the dogs, but the ingredients that will be used to make the pickle. Those are the ones that are considered problematic for a lot of pets, including dogs.
Why are dill pickles bad for dogs?
Let’s go over some of the ingredients that are used when making a dill pickle. And these are used for other pickles as well. Most of the time, while going through the normal pickling process, ingredients like sea salt, sugar, mustard seeds, garlic, and vinegar are commonly used. Two of the ingredients from this list are considered a no-no for dogs.
Due to the compound called thiosulfate, garlic is very toxic to dogs. It can lead to anemia or other long-lasting health issues.
Salt is the second ingredient considered problematic for dogs. Eating too many dill pickles or other salty foods can lead to sodium poisoning in dogs. Keep in mind that just 100 grams of dill pickle can contain up to 1,200 mg of sodium, according to USDA. This is close to 50% of the daily recommended sodium intake for a full-grown adult human, so imagine just how nocive the same amount would be for dogs.
This same risk would also apply to other foods that are based on pickled ingredients, like dill pickle juice, dill pickle relish, and even dill pickle chips. This is why it is very important for you to keep these types of foods away from your pet.
What to do if your dog eats a dill pickle
Even if you don’t feed your dog dill pickles, this creature is smart and sneaky enough to grab a bite of on when you aren’t looking. If this happens to you, then the first thing you should understand is that although not all that good for dogs, one pickle won’t be lethal. Unless your pet eats a whole jar, you usually have nothing to worry about.
You might also like my articles on whether dogs can eat Twizzlers, yogurt, and chocolate.
Even though nothing bad is likely to happen from a bite, there are a few steps I recommend you take. First off, give your dog plenty of fresh water. Dill pickles are likely to make your pet feel thirsty. As a second step, make sure you watch your dog for any side effects for the next couple of days. You should get in touch with your vet if you notice any signs of sickness or unrest in your dog. If you have a pup, you shouldn’t wait for severe side effects. Instead, call the vet as soon as you can, because these dogs are usually more prone to getting sick after eating these kinds of foods.
Another important step you should take is to check the ingredient label in the case of store-bought dill pickles because these products are often made with other ingredients that can put the life of your pet in danger.  An example is store brands of dill pickles that contain a considerably high concentration of onion or garlic, which makes them a lot more dangerous to dogs.
Side effects for dogs that eat too many pickles
There are several factors that will influence the overall health consequences of dogs ingesting pickles. The worst-case scenario would be a dog ingesting too much sodium, which might lead to some very severe symptoms. Among these symptoms, the most common are body tremors, vomiting, and diarrhea.
When the issue is ingestion of too much garlic or onion content, the effects would be lethargy and salivation.

Tumblr media
It took no less than 10 minutes for me to see and understand why Eunmi is as whipped for Gayoon as she is. See, when you’re five, adults seem so cool, so serious, so grown up. Parents are parents, even if they are cool, they are simply not cool enough. If there is an adult in the mix that is old enough for it to be WOW to a five year old and also doesn’t have the responsibility of being the parent – jackpot.
Eunmi was acting like she and Gayoon are attached by the hip and Gayoon just played along with it. Even when Eunmi wanted to show her every single toy she has, even when she took her by the hand and dragged her away to show her every possible corner of the apartment. What would normally at some point become annoying to anyone, even me as her father, Gayoon took like a champ and not only played along, but actually seem interested. Hell, she even asked Eunmi questions.
She’s a natural and I can see why she’s Eunmi’s favorite teacher. I’m also suddenly very glad Yuki insisted that we pay an insane tuition for Eunmi to go to a private kindergarten.
And the little one did not hold back – she clung onto Gayoon like a koala. So much so that I got a heavy case of second hand embarrassment with how clingy she was being. I’m just glad she’s five – no matter what she does, ‘she’s five’ is always an excuse to get us out of any mess.
Two hours from the moment we stepped into the apartment and one impromptu tea party with stuffed animals, Eunmi managed to doze off, despite the excitement she had been feeling the entire day. Her words were dragged and her eyelids were barely open but she still refused to nap – until her head fell down onto Gayoon’s lap, her lips open and eyes shut.
“Let me help you with that,” I smile at Gayoon, keeping my voice low and my hands gentle as I pick Eunmi up, very careful not to move her around in my arms too much. She normally sleeps like a log but I can’t risk it – if she wakes up not only will she be cranky but she will probably refuse to sleep again. Not that it would do her much good, seeing as her eyes simply refused to stay open.
“Wait, let me help you,” Gayoon whispers as she gets up from the couch, walking in front of me to open the door of Eunmi’s room for me to walk through. I put Eunmi down on the bad, smiling when I notice her signature nose scrunch – for a second, I freeze, scared that she will wake but it turns out to be a false alarm. Very gently, I tuck her in and put her favorite teddy bear underneath her arm. Gayoon closes the door after me, smiling at Eunmi. “She is beyond cute.”
“I know,” I smile stupidly, unable to ignore the urge to gush about how adorable Eunmi actually is. “She is a little cutie but she already has a temper,” I add.
“No,” she laughs and shakes her head as we make our way back to the couch. “I don’t think she does. I suppose she can be a bit tricky but you have no idea how bad the other kids can be,” she tells me, giving me a pointed look as she reaches for her cup of hot chocolate – hot chocolate she had to help me with because I nearly burnt it. “There’s a reason Eunmi is one of my favorites.”
“Is she good to others?” I ask, making Gayoon look at me in confusion. “I mean, I’ve never heard anything about her fighting with other kids but… is it really like that or do teachers just say that to make parents relax and don’t ask stupid questions?”
“Oh boy,” she chuckles, smiling at me. Yeah, that’s the kind of smile that makes me swallow a lump when it’s directed at me. “It’s really like that. We wouldn’t lie, at least I wouldn’t. It’s important for parents to know what their kid is actually like, even if that means that they sometimes hear something they’d rather not know of. You have no reason to worry, though. Eunmi is a proper sweetheart and she’s nice to everyone. She’s also not a pushover, so don’t worry – she would hold her ground if need be.”
“Good,” I breathe a sigh of relief. “You’d think that after five years, I’d be sure of myself and of what I’m doing but most days… I swear I’m more like a headless chicken than a fully functioning adult,” I admit.
“Oh come on, we all have our headless chicken moments,” she reassures me, a smile still plastered on her face. “She’s your only child, it’s not like you have experience of raising one. I’d say both you and her mother are doing a good job. Both in general and in your circumstances.”
“What circumstances?” I ask, noticing that she suddenly looks uncomfortable. She’s looking away and her face is the face of someone who said something they shouldn’t have said. “If you’re referring to us being young, we’re well aware of that,” I laugh.
“It’s not that,” she shakes her head. “You’re young, of course you know that. But it’s one thing to have a teacher of your daughter point it out in a way that might sound condescending, even though it isn’t.”
“Don’t worry, I truly didn’t take it that way,” I tell her. And I mean it. “I was just confused as to which circumstance you’re referring to, us being young or separated, because both are quite specific circumstances and both are very much true.”
“Age can mean something, in my opinion, but it’s definitely not a rule,” she tells me. “Like I’ve said before, we can all be headless chickens every now and then. And as for the two of you being separated, I will let you know that my mother raised Jimin and myself all on her own, since Jimin was three and I a baby. So yeah, circumstances be damned.”
“That’s quite impressive,” I nod. I never knew that Mrs. Park was a single mom but then again, I had no clue Jimin was her son either, and I just recently saw Gayoon for the first time, so I probably shouldn’t be surprised how little I know about Mrs. Park’s family tree. “You’re one of the few people that actually don’t appear all judgy and mighty. I’ve gotten used to it by now – half the parents of Eunmi’s classmates look at me like I’m a high schooler or something.”
“Jeongguk… more often than not, you or Eunmi’s mother pick her up from kindergarten before other parents do. You both pick her up early to try and spend more time with her. Some of those kids stay in the kindergarten until five, six PM. I understand that many of those parents have jobs and obligations but so do you. And yet you still do it. If I were you, I wouldn’t worry too much about what they think.”
“Has anyone ever told you that you are just a nice person?” I ask.
Fuck, verbal diarrhea. Why did I say that? It is true, I’m not denying that but why did I say it? I could have just said thank you or something like that. Well, at least I didn’t say that she’s the nicest person on the planet – it could have been worse.
“I’m not gonna lie, I have heard it before,” she laughs. “But it’s always a good thing to hear. And you seem pretty nice too.”
“Even with a daughter that clings onto you like a koala?” Jesus Christ, Jeon Jeongguk, shut the fuck up!
“Well, if you don’t mind me being honest, she’s the best part,” I laugh at her comment. She’s not wrong – Eunmi is the best part of me. She’s the best thing I’ve ever done and pretty much the only thing in my life I am genuinely and completely proud of. If someone thinks she’s the best thing about me, I’ll gladly take it.
“I’m sorry we kidnapped you for the whole of Christmas Day,” I tell her, feeling guilt rise again. I’m pretty sure she wasn’t expecting to stay at our place for three hours and counting. “I’m sorry if we ruined some plans for you. I’m an idiot who forgets his wallet everywhere he goes and Eunmi didn’t want to let go of you.”
“No, it’s okay,” she shakes her head, smiling with that adorable, small smile that makes me swoon and want to punch something at the same time. “I was literally working back at the kindergarten. We had a family lunch and we all went our separate ways. The only plan I had was Netflix and food. I got cake, Super Mario and a tea party, so I would say the day was quite fruitful.”
“Would you like to add some wine into the mix too? Eunmi seemed pretty knocked out, we can be adults until she wakes up?” I suggested.
Perfect, you fucking fucktard idiot person! You are literally asking your daughter’s kindergarten teacher to get drunk with you in your apartment while your daughter is sleeping in the next room. Are you absolutely out of your mind? She’ll run and probably get Eunmi expelled or something.
“That sounds like a great idea,” she surprisingly agrees. “I’ll just call Jimin to let him know he should take a taxi when he leaves for home so that he can drive me and my car back home.”
“Perfect.”
Tumblr media
For a usually quiet person, I realize that I am surprisingly chatty with her. In the little I’ve known Gayoon, she always seemed like a good listener. She would listen carefully, nodding along and looking directly at you, asking you questions when you pause for a breath. We had red wine and talked just about anything and everything until Eunmi woke up. Before we ended up playing Super Mario, we talked about her, about how difficult it is to raise kids, how difficult it is to work with kids, how I never thought I’d end up being an office worker and how Gayoon was positive she would end up opening a bakery.
Hours passed in good fun and before we knew it, it was Eunmi’s bedtime and of course, my daughter had to backstab me and refuse my offer to read her a story and saying she’d rather have Gayoon read it for her. I got a pat on the back from Gayoon, probably because I looked and felt like a kicked puppy, before she agreed to read her a story.
I was leaned on the door, listening to the two of them talk about princess and mermaids, because not a single page could go by without Eunmi asking both related and unrelated questions.
The teacher in Gayoon was present – well, either that or the fact that she actually does seem like a genuinely good person. She clicked with Eunmi so well, I could feel my heart swell.
I have only ever seen Yuki acting this way with her. Perhaps Byulyi and Hyejin, occasionally, but never anyone else. She… she seemed almost motherly. After having random girls run from me because I’m a father, run from me as if I am the plague itself, it’s quite shocking to see someone not doing the same thing. Of course, the context is different – Gayoon hasn’t shown a particular interest to get into my pants, nor have I shown interest to get into hers, at least I don’t think so. The context is different but it still feels so damn nice to see someone being so good with Eunmi.
I don’t move from my place until Gayoon does, moving gently to tuck Eunmi in and smiling up at me as I turn off the lights and make my way back to the living room. She closes the door carefully, quietly and smiles at me again. “I hope this wasn’t too much – I just can’t say no to her.”
“Of course it wasn’t,” I shake my head immediately. “Thank you. Thank you for doing that. Whenever she’s not with Yuki, I feel as if I’m not… you know, doing it well.”
“Please,” she rolls her eyes. “You’re much better at this than I am. Being a teacher and nice to kids is nothing more than my job – this is the role of your lifetime and you’re playing it perfectly, from what I’ve seen so far.”
“It’s almost sickening how nice you are.”
She bursts into laughter, quickly covering her mouth, not wanting to wake the little one up. I was wrong when I thought her smile is the most charming thing about her – now that I heard genuine, surprised and uncontrolled laughter, even if for a second, I know this one takes the cake.
For someone her age, our age, she sure does have a childlike laughter. And I’m pretty sure I’m staring at her now. Good work, Don Juan! How very smooth of you!
“I’m not that nice,” she shakes her head. “But I do have to say that… Oh!” she hurries to answer her phone, pulling it out of her pocket in the speed of light before the ringtone manages to wake Eunmi up. I even manage to recognize the ringtone. I pull the song out from the old, forgotten, punk brain of mine – The Ramones, ‘She talks to rainbows’. Of all the songs I expected to hear coming from her phone, this was not the one. “Yeah. Yeah. I’ll be down,” she ends the call. “Jimin’s waiting for me.”
“Oh. Okay. Well, thank you for bringing me my wallet. And staying with us. And playing with Eunmi. And talking to me. And reading her a story. Yeah, thank you for everything, I guess.”
Nice work, Romeo. Smooth talker, that’s what you are. Smooth fucking criminal.
“Stop thanking me,” she laughs as she moves towards the hallway, grabbing her purse and jacket from where I hanged them earlier. “I had fun. It’s safe to say we’re friends now – and friends do spend time with each other and their kids. And they give each other cake and bring each other lost wallets, so stop thanking me so much.”
“In that case, thank you for a lovely day.”
Okay, that actually was smooth.
“Hmm,” she narrows her eyes at me. “I’ll take that one.”
Before I could say anything or think about the position of my hands, she hugs me. I am completely frozen for a moment, before I realize that I have less than a second to react before she pulls away and this turns more awkward than it already is. So I hug her back, tapping her shoulder with my hand. She smiles as she pulls away and my face is probably nothing more than a painful grimace.
“I’ll see you around,” she smiles. “If you ever need a babysitter, you know my number.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” I chuckle. “Merry Christmas Gayoon.”
“Merry Christmas Jeongguk.”
I stand at the door as she walks down the hallway, waving like a complete idiot even though she doesn’t turn around – I’m waving and she doesn’t even see it. I shake my head, snapping out of it and closing the door before she has a chance to see me standing here like a complete idiot.
I close the door, lock it and bang my head on it, hard enough for it to be painful, faint enough to keep Eunmi asleep and Gayoon unaware.
I think I’m in the beginning stage of having a crush on my daughter’s kindergarten teacher.
Tumblr media
“Could you at least try to pretend like you’re having a good time?”
The problem is, I did. For a good half hour, I looked like the very gif of The Office’s Michael Scoot gritting his teeth and looking as awkward as possible. For half an hour I did my very best to look as if I am having the time of my life.
The truth is, I don’t remember the last time I felt as uncomfortable as I do now. Seokjin insisted that I should not be alone on New Year’s Eve, which is exactly why I ended up following him to what he called the hottest club in town. Him and six of his best mates, most of whom I’ve known for years, but in passing, as I never really wanted to be a part of their sausage fest. Which is exactly what I am now.
Seven men and me, as bored and as uncomfortable as I could possibly be.
They come here with a goal – get drunk and get laid. And I just want to be home, in my sweatpants, eating ramen and playing Super Mario or finally catching up with Black Mirror. Literally, every possible scenario that includes me staying at home is better than the current situation.
My brain is one generic EDM song away from turning into pudding and my stomach is one fruity drink away from giving up on everything. I’m a stay-at-home, beer-drinking kind of guy. This is not my place.
So, to answer Seokjin’s question – no, I can no longer even try to pretend like I’m having a good time.
“I’m sorry,” I sigh, watching him shake his head in disappointment. While I know he’s joking, I also know that my mood is affecting his and the last thing I want to do is ruin his night – New Year’s Eve, of all nights. I don’t want to be that person, I hate to be that person but I can’t fight it. “It’s just not my scene.”
“You always adapted before. This isn’t your first rodeo,” he tells me and honestly, he’s right. I used to go out with him before and while it was never my favorite thing to do, I could handle it.
“I don’t know, I think I just have too much on my mind,” I yell, in order to overpower the bass.
“You’re thinking about your girl?” Seokjin yells back at me.
“No,” I shake my head. “I mean, I always think about her but it’s the way it is – I had her for Christmas, Yuki has her for New Year’s Eve. It’s the fairest deal possible.”
“I’m not talking about Eunmi,” Seokjin laughs. “I’m talking about her teacher. You know, the girl you’re crushing on?”
I don’t know why I thought it was a good idea to tell Seokjin about it. I guess I expected advice, seeing as he’s my big brother and a ladies man extraordinaire. Instead of a good, solid piece of advice or even a rude wakeup call while reminding me that she is my daughter’s teacher, I just got laughed at. I called him the same night Gayoon left my apartment, and since then, not a day has passed without him mentioning it in a way that could appear humorous to anyone but me.
“Seokjin, I’ve told you, I am not crushing on her.”
“No, you just like her,” he corrects me and leans over to yell directly into my ear. “Look, you are making questionable choices because you can’t even remember the last time you had anything with any woman. You’re over Yuki and you’re not ready for commitment again but you need to get yourself out there and do something because crushing on your daughter’s teacher is not a common storyline. Find someone else to crush on before you and your ex need to change your daughter’s kindergarten!”
God, he’s right. Yuki will kill me if we have to change Eunmi’s kindergarten and judging by the way Eunmi seems to be attached to her friends and even Gayoon herself, she’d kill me to. I’d rather wait for her teenage years before I hear the first “I hate you” from her.
“Or, if you’re really hung up on her, ask her out,” Seokjin completely changes his story. “Just pick a side. Either grow a pair or take your pick,” he waves his hand around, as if he’s showing me all that the club has to offer. Outside the sausage fest we are in, the club really is full of girls our age, most of them in a pack with other girls, very probably looking for a hook up, the same way all of Seokjin’s friends know that if all goes according to plan, not a single one of them will be going home alone.
It’s like watching National Geographic or something. Two packs of opposite genders eyeing each other from different sides of the club, picking their pray and getting all hyped up before they strike. Words of encouragement shared, pats on the shoulders, a few giggles here and there and the plan is set in motion. Of course, not all is a hunting field – there are packs that are here just to have fun. I can see a group of laughing and dancing people who are…
“Holy shit, that’s her!” I all but yell, pointing to the dance floor.
“Her who?” Seokjin looks around.
“Gayoon, Eunmi’s teacher.”
For a second, I am sure that I am imagining things but as I watch her throw her head back while laughing, I am positive that it is Gayoon – it’s just not the Gayoon I saw a few days ago. This Gayoon has fairly shorter and curly hair – she had pretty long hair the other day. And this Gayoon is definitely not wearing the casual clothes Gayoon from the other day was wearing – unless a tight, black dress can count as casual. I’m a guy – what do I know?
“Wait, which girl are you talking about?” Seokjin asks as he leans into me, wanting a better view.
“Shoulder length hair, black dress.”
“Holy shit!” he yells and for a second, I forget we’re in a night club and my blood freezes, thinking that Gayoon must have heard him. “That’s Eunmi’s teacher?! No wonder you’re dying to live out a teacher kink!”
“She’s not MY teacher, you idiot!” I smack him on the shoulder, making him laugh out loud. I’m not laughing – this is becoming too much. “It’s not like that.”
“Looking at her, it should be like that,” Seokjin comments.
“You don’t get it,” I shake my head – of course Seokjin would not get it. He’s been in love once and after that particular train wreck, he hasn’t bothered looking for anything other than easy sex. “Yeah, she’s pretty and yeah she’s hot but she’s actually nice and friendly and most importantly, good with Eunmi.”
“You don’t know what you want,” Seokjin shakes his head.
“Yeah, because I can’t develop a proper interest into someone after like… a few hours spent with them! Just as I don’t want to have a one night stand with my daughter’s teacher! Of course I don’t know what I want – I might not even want anything and am just confused! I don’t know what I want and it would be very weird if I did!” I yell over the music.
“Well, I think she knows what she wants,” he nods his head and when I look back to Gayoon, I can see what he means – she’s definitely closer to one of the guys in her group than she was just seconds ago. They are dancing together, they’re bodies almost completely pressed together, his hands on her hips as they sway together, much too slow for the beat that’s threatening to make my brain explode.
“Oh.”
“Yeah, oh,” Seokjin rolls his eyes. “Go there! Say hi! Talk to her! Dance with her! Get to her before he does!” he tries to push me away from our booth but I stay frozen, shaking my head.
“Nah, I just told you. I don’t know what I want and judging by that,” I wave my hand to her and the guy she is dancing with. “It’s a bit too late anyways.”
I have no right to sulk, I know that very well. Not once did Gayoon show any signs of being interested in me in any way other than a teacher-parent one, perhaps a friendly one too. She did not flirt, she did not say anything that would make me wonder if it has a double meaning and let’s not forget about the crushed mistletoe. Not to mention that I haven’t done anything either – of course I didn’t, I just think I might kind of like her.
I have no right to sulk at the sight of her expressing interest in another man and even though I try to fight it, I know I end up pouting, sitting in the booth and glaring towards them, sipping on the shitty cocktail Seokjin insisted on buying for me.
“You’re a complete idiot,” is Seokjin’s conclusion he reaches while looking at me in disappointment.
“Maybe I am.”
Tumblr media
15 minutes after the clock strikes midnight and the whole club drunkenly yells New Year’s greetings – that’s the time limit I’ve given myself. Long enough to not seem rude, just enough to not lose my mind.
“You’re actually leaving?” Seokjin once again looks disappointed. As bad as I feel, he had it coming. He knew I was not going to enjoy myself, he knew this is not my scene in any way. As bad as I feel for leaving him, one – I know he won’t miss me and 2 – he should be the one to feel bad for dragging me out to begin with.
“I handled it for as long as I could. Happy New Year, brother,” I pat him on the back and make my way through the ocean of bodies, towards the exit. I don’t look back, not to Seokjin, not to Gayoon.
I made a point of not looking her way for as long as I have been in the club – staring at her just seemed a bit too creepy, especially given that she was obviously pretty close to hooking up with the guy she was dancing with. It felt creepy, wrong and uncomfortable – so I decided to simply not look her way while I was there. I doubt she saw me but if she did, she made no move to approach me.
Outside, the weather and the atmosphere is hellish – snow started falling again and I obviously wasn’t the only one with the thoughts of leaving early – one by one, groups of people were getting into lined up taxis, while others were waiting for the next ones to drive by. Imagining the price I’ll have to pay for the drive back home on New Year’s Eve felt like a punch to the gut.
“Jeongguk?!”
Oh crap.
I want to hide, I really do. Maybe it would be believable if I don’t respond? It’s pretty crowded, I think I can play it off as if I hadn’t heard her. “Jeongguk!” her voice is raised now, as she is obviously certain that she’s not imagining things. I can’t hide.
I turn around, pretending to look confused and I see her walking my way, still in that short sleeved dress, looking as if she’s freezing her butt of, but still smiling at me. She even has blue highlights in her hair. I don’t know what happened to Gayoon from the other day.
“Oh! Hi! Hey! Happy New Year!” I sound like an idiot to myself but really, what else can I do?
“Happy New Year!” she beams up at me as she stops a few feet away. “Were you here the whole night?”
“Yeah, my brother dragged me out,” I roll my eyes. “I am escaping now. You’re leaving too?” I ask, noticing that the guy she was dancing with doesn’t seem to be around.
“No, not yet – I’m here with Jimin and a group of our friends, I can’t leave without them,” she explains. “I just thought I needed a bit of fresh air, after one too many tequila shots,” she adds, although she doesn’t appear to be drunk at all. “In hindsight, stupid idea – it’s freezing.”
“What happened to… No, never mind,” I stop myself at the last moment.
“What happened to what?”
“No, nothing.”
“Jeongguk, don’t be that person,” she laughs. “I hate it when people do that. Spill it.”
“What happened to cold never bothering you anyway?” I utter my lame joke, watching as she frowns in confusion – it takes her a moment to realize what exactly I’m referring to but when she finally connects the dots, she seems equally amused and pissed.
“I hate you,” she tries to sound serious but I can tell she’s fighting off a smile.
“You set yourself up for that one,” I laugh. We might not be friends now, hell, we might not even be friends in the future, but after our meeting, I am forever entitled to make Frozen jokes on her expense.
“The price I pay,” she sighs before smiling again. “Anyways, I’d better go inside before I turn into Olaf,” it’s a bad joke but I still laugh – that’s what she’s making me do now. I’m laughing at fairly stupid jokes. This isn’t good. “I’ll see you around. Happy New Year Jeongguk.”
“Happy New Year Gayoon,” I smile, waving at her once before she wobbles back inside the club, still trying to keep herself warm with her arms wrapped around her body – she’s right, it was stupid to go outside in this weather without a jacket. I should have offered her mine.
On the drive back to my place, I stare through the window and watch all the drunk, well-dressed people stumbling around, laughing, hugging one another. I watch and wonder when that stopped being me. I wonder if even I miss that being me.
The only conclusion I could come up with is that maybe Seokjin was right after all. Maybe I am a complete idiot.

Nameless Ghoul Heat Headcanons (pt. III)
You can find part one and part two here.
In this I will be going into the individual heats of the current ghouls. This will be another long one, you’ve been warned. Since the Ghoulettes experience heats differently, they’re not in this one. (I might go into their heats with a part 4 but I’m not making any promises.)
Rain
He gets extreme mood swings and gets irritated very fast
Sometimes he’s easily spooked and anxious and can’t stand to be around noises or people, but this can change very quickly to him being angry or annoyed
He can be quite aggressive too, but he usually destroys things rather than hurting people. (There may be exceptions. Be careful.)
Speaking of, he breaks stuff a lot. He destroys door, furniture, equipment, tourbus interieur, … Keep valuable things away from him, please.
Very fidgety during the time. He can’t concentrate on anything. Band practise can be very exhausting with a heating Rain.
He’ll want cuddles one moment, then can’t stand being touched the next.
Wants loads of sweets, gets sick, eats more sweets
Headaches from hell. He soldiers through them like a pro but it feels like his skull is shattering. Sometimes running your hands through his hair will help. Sometimes he’ll nearly rip you to pieces of you try to.
Take him and put him in a bathtub (or pool, hot tub, lake, puddle… whatever water-container is at hand.) It will help.
The other ghouls take pity on him (he’s baby) and accommodate to his mood swings. Aether has one of those inflatable paddling pools for Rain if they’re on tour.
Dewdrop
H o r r i d
Dewdrop is vicious during heats. Flies of the handle faster than you can say anger management. Will fight everyone. Hisses, growls, screams, stomps, threatens, scratches… hes aggressive. Don’t provoke him if you don’t want to spend a long time in hospital.
Be careful, he will bite.
Max, his guitar tech is on a high risk job during Dewdrops heats. There was an incident once. Ever since, Max gets one of the Clergys Security Dudes during Dews heats. Dewdrop asked for this.
The horniest mf to ever horn. Seriously, his sex drive is out of the roof. He’s the kind of idiot that thinks he can manage to not rip his partner to pieces (he can’t) and he will try to get laid. Don’t worry, he still drinks his respect women (and men and people) juice and consent is ingrained in his brain but he can be veeery persuasive. Just don’t… Don’t. His only match during heats would be a Ghoulette.
His appetite gets all screwed up too. He will eat everything. Soap, Tide Pods, Wood, Roadkill, glass shards… Ate his way through a whole pack of wireless cables once. (“I am not getting paid enough for this job” – Max at some point, probably.)
He does not sleep for a second. He just can’t, the moment he lies down he’ll get agitated again.
Used to accidentally set things on fire when touching them. He mostly learned to control it now (but who knows if he wants to control it? Keep a fire extinguisher close, just in case.)
Heat-Hangovers. (Cause, you know, being feral can be exhausting, right?) He’ll sleep for a whole day and he’ll be very cuddly and rather docile for the next few. Don’t tease him.
Mountain
Food Binges. He will raid every fridge in the area and damn, the food just disappears. The nightmare of backstage catering. If the others don’t hurry, they’ll starve.
Don’t go near his food. He will growl and hiss at you.
Sometimes he might accidentally eat parts of the packaging too, but he’s not Dew. Won’t usually go for anything non-food.
Gets irritated easily during his heat. Humans in general should keep away from him as much as possible. Certain noises make him shiver and sometimes he can’t stand the textures of his clothing.
Yes, he usually seems to be more docile compared to the other ghouls, but don’t let that fool you. If you hear a low growl, run!
Accidentally breaks drumsticks or even his drums if he is playing shows during heat. Speaking of, if he is in heat he wont really interact with the audience after the show, just to be absolutely sure nobody gets hurt.
If not on tour, he likes to just keep away from anyone else so he can deal with the heat by himself. Doesn’t want to put anyone in harms way. He tends to turn any kind of aggression against himself (think punching a wall so hard his knuckles bruise etc.). Same goes for his sex drive, he’ll help himself rather than seeking anyone out.
Being outside is what usually helps him settle down.
Aether
This guy likes to be in control of things. Heats are a loss of control over himself and he hates himself during heats. Having said that, few of it actually surfaces.
He struggles, but he is very good at managing. The most responsible of them all.
On tours, he keeps a small bag with things that help him. It has a hot water bottle, tea, a stressball, tiger balm… He pays close attention to himself and takes good care. Eats a lot of comfort food, goes on walks, watches netflix and generally finds ways to relax.
If you let him battle through it alone he’ll be fine after a few days, no harm done. If you don’t, shit is going DOWN.
He has been underestimated before because he manages so well, but if he gets into his heat-induced rages you’re screwed big time.
Swiss
Horny 24/7  (he always is, but during heats its worse)
Impulsive af.
The kind of guy to randomly play the saxophone at 2 am (“Shut up, Asshat!”) or go to McDonalds and order 25 Cheeseburgers (Which he will eat within less than ten minutes. Gulp. Is there beer?). Generally does things that only sound like a good idea when you’re very drunk at three am.
Talks a LOT. Its verbal diarrhea and he can’t help it. There is no brain-to-mouth filter during his heats.
Don’t touch him our you might get a small electroshock. It’s the quintessence element (I hc Swiss as a Quintessence ghoul.)
Five-minute naps are all the sleep he’ll get during heats.
He knows he’s annoying. His heat-hangover consists of self-hatred and constant apologies to the others for being such a pain in the ass over the last few days.

To autistic people who are starting to menstruate...
Okay I’m gonna go all auntie Cyndi on all my younger autistic followers who are new to having periods. I’ve been having my periods for over 20 years now, so I’m experienced in this.
First off, you may have your first period and not have another one for a few months. Your periods may start and happen like clockwork. Your periods may always be irregular.
It’s normal for your ovulation and menstruation to shift throughout the year just like the seasons shift the sun’s position in the sky.
On average, your period comes about two weeks after you ovulate. I’ve pinned mine down enough to know I bleed exactly 19 days after I ovulate, so I can look at a calendar and figure out within a four day margin of when to expect my period. Note that I said on average, some people may have a shorter or longer menstrual cycle.
You’ll know you’re ovulating when you produce a lot of mucus from your vagina that looks and feels like raw egg white. It’s clear, a little more viscous than your spit, it’s very slippery and it will drip out in long strings. I produce a lot, another person may not produce much. If you notice you’re really slimy down there when you’re wiping after you pee, and the toilet paper comes away with stringy slimy stuff on it, take note of the date you saw that and note the date again when get your period. Keep taking notes and a pattern may emerge. That’s your menstrual cycle.
NOTE: If you have unprotected sex during this time, you have a strong chance of getting pregnant. Sperm can swim a long way and survive a long time in the Fallopian tubes, waiting for an egg to come down. Always assume you can get pregnant between the time of finishing a period and starting the next one.
(And I hope this second one never happens to you, but...)
If you were raped during this time, and if they ejaculated inside you or on your vulva, you may get pregnant.
Always practice safe sex and use birth control if you want to avoid pregnancy, and if you were raped you need to assume they got you pregnant and get help to deal with it ASAP.
Now, lemme tell you a little about periods and autism going together.
PMS and your period can really mess with your sensory issues, your meltdown / shutdown threshold, your tolerance for socializing and your ability to control emotions.
You might have brain fog and just feel yucky and groggy.
You might find you want to sleep more or can’t sleep at all.
You might wake up with your armpits sweating heavily.
You may notice you start sweating with less exertion, or you walk into a warm room and swear you’re standing on the sun.
On the flipside, you may feel colder than usual, so walking into a cooler place will feel like walking into Antarctica.
Your skin may get more oily and that may mean greasier hair and more pimples. I know that feels unfair if you already have a lot of acne and problems with hygiene. If your hair length permits washing your hair in a sink, you can do that if a shower is too much. Try to wash your face gently with a wet washcloth when you wake up and before going to bed. Make sure to remove all your makeup before retiring to sleep if you wear any, because it will clog your pores even more if you don’t.
Your body odor may intensify, so keep baby wipes and deodorant / antiperspirant around if showering is hard. Hand sanitizer wiped on your pits can help in a situation where you realize you reek and can’t wash off, but only use that in emergencies.
You may experience some constipation and gas. That’s progesterone’s fault, sometimes it slows down your colon.
You may go from constipated to having huge, greasy poops or even some diarrhea. That’s your hormones shifting. Sometimes a period is a natural laxative because your intestines move a little faster thanks to the hormones that make your uterus contract (prostaglandins) to push out the endometrium. So if you have issues with fecal incontinence, you may have to deal with extra odors and messes when you change your incontinence protection.
Once your period starts, you’ll probably have to pee a lot more often. This is your body getting rid of the water it retained. If you deal with urinary incontinence, this might mean you need to change your incontinence protection more often to avoid infections, skin breakdown and odors.
Btw, you can dehydrate a little as your body sheds the excess water, so make sure to stay hydrated. I take three small sips or one big gulp from my water bottle after I use the bathroom during my period. It’s a helpful routine.
You may have food cravings and appetite changes. You may feel always hungry or not want to eat much or at all. Your desire to samefood might increase. (Mine is currently the cheese pizza flavored Cheez-Its.) Increased hunger is your body getting ready to lose nutrients through your menstrual flow. If you don’t feel your hunger signals, notice if you feel irritable or weak more often, it may mean you need to eat.
Your boobs may get a little bigger and get achy-feeling, so much that you can’t stand a bra or binder. You may get achy feelings in your joints or muscles. It’s likely water retention.
You may put on some weight. This is also water retention. You may find you always gain around the same about of weight each time you’re close to your period.
You may be really impulsive or take risks you wouldn’t usually take, sometimes to the point of recklessness.
You may feel restless like you want to climb out of your skin. Your frustration threshold might plummet to nothing, so everything is aggravating.
If you have self injurious meltdowns, you may have more SIB than usual. You might also notice an increased need to stim, and sometimes stimming doesn’t help you feel better or calm down.
If you’re physically able, try to do something that makes you exert yourself, like jogging, moving heavy things or some other kind of vigorous exercise. Even dance is good if that’s what you enjoy. Think of it as venting excess energy so it’s not stuck in your chest.
If you’re not physically able to exert yourself, try snuggling under a weighted blanket and pressure stimming. Think of it as drawing excess energy to where you’re putting pressure so it’s not stuck in your chest.
You may have mood swings and default to a certain mood so much that you feel stuck in it.
If you’re prone to migraines, you’re more likely to have one when you’re premenstrual.
All of this can be scary if you’re still new to having periods.
See a doctor if your bad feelings are so bad that you get super depressed and have suicidal thoughts two or more periods in a row, It could be PMDD, which is the nasty older sister of PMS.
PMDD is premenstrual dysphoric disorder, or a very extreme version of PMS.
It’s kinda normal for PMS symptoms to vary in intensity from month to month, but if you find yourself consistently in a very bad mental state before your period, you may need extra help to handle it.
Once your flow starts, you might have bursts of feeling REALLY good or affectionate: that’s because of oxytocin and maybe some serotonin, enjoy it.
Your flow may be fairly light, get heavy and then lighten again. You may start with a lot of gushes and then it lightens up until it stops. If you normally have a light flow and suddenly it turns heavy with an increase in cramping, there may be a problem that needs a doctor to check out. If your heavy flow gets even heavier, to the point that you’re soaking through the thickest pads, there may be a problem. Don’t let them blow you off, be firm. “I don’t normally bleed this much or have this much cramping, something is up.”
Things like stress, weight gain or weight loss can affect your period. Being sick can sometimes throw it off. Periods are fickle, annoying and weird things. Keep track of them, take note of the color and amount of your flow and get to know it. Knowing your body at its baseline will help you recognize it later if something goes wrong. It may take your cycles time to find their “normal” as your body figures out how to handle having periods.
It never hurts to always have a pad, tampon, menstrual cup or whatever you use to catch your flow. Keep it in your backpack, purse, pocket, etc.. If you prefer pads, it’s always a good idea to put one in your underwear if you’re expecting your period and you go out somewhere. That way it won’t be a huge emergency if your flow starts. Putting one in when you go to sleep at the time you expect your period flow can also help you sleep easy and not worry about making a mess in your bed.
(I personally prefer thick pads, so it feels like I won’t leak, but I know that may be a sensory yuck for someone else. Try different things till you find what works.)
Those little gushes you feel occasionally are normal. Yeah, sometimes you will feel your period goop coming out. Some advice: when you’re using the toilet, push a bit and then do a kegel, which is squeezing the muscles in your vagina that stop your pee from flowing— you might push a lot of period stuff out. It’ll help you not have to change your pad as often.
I’m cis, so I can’t speak on how taking testosterone will affect periods. I will leave this open for an autistic person who is taking T to add to this if they want. 👍🏻
Now that I said all that, it’s possible you may have zero premenstrual issues and your period won’t cause you much trouble at all. Every uterus-owning body is different. People already dealing with depression or other mood disorders may have more trouble during their period, or their period may even boost their mood for a short time. As I said, everyone is different.
❤️ Take care! ❤️

(14) Chills
SociallyAwkwardFox’s Spooktober - Day 14 “Chills”
JayTim | Established Relationship | Food Poisoning | Foodborne Illness | Vomiting | Mentions of other bodily fluids | Sick fic | Want to write with me? Find the prompt list here!
~*~
"Hey! You alive in here?" Tim calls as he enters Jason's safehouse, carefully balancing a shopping bag of 'goodies' on his hip and ducking low to avoid snagging his backpack on the frame as he steps through the window.
A bedraggled head sticks out of the bathroom doorway at half the height one would expect. "Tim? You shouldn't be here," Jason croaks, hauling himself to his feet with the support of the door frame. He looks awful, face pale, cheeks flushed, and dark circles under his eyes. It's only been a day and a half since his symptoms appeared, including copious vomiting, but he already looks gaunt and hollowed out.
Tim ignores him, continues on into the little kitchen, and begins unloading his supplies onto the counter. He's brought an arsenal of medical supplies: anti-nausea meds, antibiotics, fluids and electrolytes - both IV and oral - various disease test kits, portable diagnostic equipment, as well as broths and soups sent straight from Alfred along with saltine crackers, sports drinks, ginger teas, and ginger ale for when Jason’s appetite comes back. He loads the soup containers, drinks and antibiotics into the fridge, keeping his back turned even as he hears Jason shuffle into the kitchen.
"Let me rephrase that: you can't be here. I'm sick. I've got a fever and chills and I've been hurling my guts out of both ends all night and all day. It isn't safe for you," Jason tells him, hovering at the edge of the kitchen like he wants to step forward and shake Tim by the shoulders but knows he shouldn't.
Tim turns and closes the distance between them in two quick steps, raising a thermometer to Jason's temple while laying the back of his hand across his forehead. Jason startles a second too late.
"T-Tim! What are you doing?! Get away!" He tries to back up, but bumps into the wrap-around counter, knees buckling. Tim grips his forearm firmly to bolster him and follows diligently, holding the thermometer steady until he hears a beep.
"One hundred point nine," Tim reads off, nodding sagely. "That's not too bad. Overall, how are you feeling? Have you been able to keep down any fluids in the past twelve hours?" he asks as he pinches the skin of Jason's forearm to perform the skin elasticity test for gauging dehydration. "Mmm, from that I'm going to say 'no' or 'not enough', huh?"
Jason swats away his hand wildly then leans back over the counter away from the other hand Tim lifts undeterred to pull down Jason's lower eyelid in order to gauge the sunkenness of his eyes.
"Wha-wha-what are you doing?" Jason pants, eyes wild. "You can't be here, I have the flu; you can't touch me, I'm going to get you sick!"
Tim shakes his head, but takes a step back, making soothing motions with his hands. "It's fine, Jason, I made sure to--"
"It's not f-f-fine!" Jason hisses, teeth chattering with a full body shiver. "You could die, Spleen-less Wonder!"
Tim raises his eyebrows. "If you would stop running away from me for five minutes, or stop to answer my calls then you’d--"
"I w-was ru-ru-running to protect you!"
Five minutes after his first episode of vomiting, Jason had run out of Tim's apartment like the building was on fire, and then proceeded to lead Tim on a very bizarre game of tag through five separate safehouses over the past day and a half. Tim had been half convinced their wild chase would end with him finding Jason passed out in the street, or on some rooftop, between one place and the next. He still wasn’t sure if he wanted to laugh or cry or tear his hair out over the whole thing. Probably all of the above.
"I th-th-thought you'd given up by now!"
No, he hadn’t given up, but Tim also hadn't wanted to find Jason passed out in the street somewhere, so he had given Jason space and watched from a distance while he gathered evidence and ran tests.
He reaches into his back pocket, unfolds a Batcomputer print-out and shoves it into Jason's face. Jason frowns as he leans in to read the fine print.
"These are the results of comprehensive pathogen testing on a sample of stool and a sample of the foods we consumed the other night," Tim explains to him. "The tests are conclusive: you have food poisoning, not the flu. The food you ate and your stool both test positive for salmonella."
Jason blinks and his eyes dart to Tim with a flash of worry. "But... but you're okay? You didn't eat any of the contaminated foods?"
Tim smiles warmly at Jason for his concern and shakes his head. "No. Alfred and I are pretty sure it was contained to the sausage on your pizza. We didn't find salmonella in anything else and I didn't eat any of yours, only my own."
"Oh, thank fuck," Jason sighs in relief, sagging back into the counter. "Wait," he freezes, pinning Tim with an odd look, "Did you say stool? How the hell did you get a sample of my shit! When?!"
Tim snorts. "I mean, you did leave an incredible wake of contamination in your path as you fled from place to place." Jason glares and Tim shrugs. "You, uh, forgot to flush the toilet at your second stop. I collected it there."
Jason narrows his eyes. "Even if this is food poisoning, you still have to be careful collecting food samples, touching me, touching my shit--literal and figurative... Jeez, if you get a salmonella infection, that could fuck you up for the long term, Babybird."
Tim nods. "I know. I brought gloves, disinfectant, and plenty of hand soap. I plan to be careful. Alfred will never let me hear the end of it if I'm not."
Jason doesn't look happy about it, but he nods his acceptance, trembling as another chill wracks his body with violent shivers. Tim's brow crinkles in concern. He turns to scoop up some of his supplies then steers Jason toward the couch with a light touch on his elbow.
"Why don't you go get settled on the couch while I prep some fluids for you. I'm guessing you haven't been holding much down--or in--for more than a few minutes at a time?"
"Try not at all," Jason croaks as he subconsciously pulls his elbow away and shuffles to the couch on his own.
Tim grimaces in sympathy. "The diarrhea hasn't let up either?"
"Nope."
"Has there been any blood in your stool?"
Jason makes a face. "No," he gasps, gagging slightly. "Ugh. Can you grab me a bucket or something while you're at it?"
"On it."
Tim brings Jason his sick pail, then proceeds to take more vitals and pulls a blood sample to send along to Alfred. Jason suffers through it with as much grace as he can summon between breaks to gag and retch into his bucket.
"The last thing we need is for the infection to get into your blood, so I brought antibiotics along just in case," Tim tells him.
"The last thing we need is for the infection to get into your blood!" Jason shoots back hoarsely as he comes up from another round of vomiting.
"Don't worry, besides taking sanitary precautions, Alfred started me on a course of preventative antibiotics, just in case I did ingest contaminated material and haven't begun showing symptoms," Tim reassures as he begins prepping Jason’s forearm for the IV.
"Wha-what if you get sick? What am I supposed to do then?"
"Alfred will be by shortly to pick up the blood sample and check up on us, and if at any point I start to show symptoms, you or I are supposed to call Leslie immediately. The alternative is for you to return with me to the Manor." Tim wrinkles his nose to say what he thinks of that alternative.
"Nope. Here s-sounds g-g-good," Jason replies, teeth still chattering. Tim finishes inserting the catheter, starts up the fluids, tapes and then wraps the IV site.
"Okay, that should be good to go for a while. We'll know in a few hours if you'll need the IV antibiotics. For now…" he trails off, taking in the small, nearly empty safehouse and then the shivering form of one miserable Jason Todd. "How about we cuddle up on the couch and binge some Netflix?"
"I don't have a TV."
Tim smirks. "Do you think I go anywhere without my laptop and an unlimited 4G data plan?"
He sets up his laptop on a tray table in front of the couch and retrieves several clean blankets from the hall closet. He drapes two of the blankets across Jason's shoulders, which he accepts with a murmur of appreciation, then seats himself beside Jason and spreads another across their laps. He cuddles up to Jason and attempts to wrap an arm around him, his shorter stature be damned.
"Wh-wh-what are you doing?" Jason stutters, leaning away with a comically alarmed expression.
"You've got the chills, so I brought you some blankets and I’m snuggling you?”
"No, why are you practically on top of me! What if I throw up on you?" Jason wails, attempting to push away. Tim pulls him close and hands him the sick pail.
"You're a crack shot, Jay, so I trust that you won't miss at point blank," he teases.
Jason glares balefully, but gives up trying to pull free. "You're still gonna get sick…" he grumbles.
"I doubt it, but if that's a risk I have to take to snuggle you, then I'll take it."
Jason sags into him and grumbles under his breath.
"What was that?"
"I said you're an idiot with a d-d-death wish," Jason growls between shivers.
Tim chuckles and squeezes his shoulder. "Whoa, there, Jay, I think you need to chill out."
"Tim."

So let’s take a dig at details of HIV so you are aware about it which will help you in being smart and careful.
CAUSES
The elements through which you can get HIV are infected blood, semen and vaginal fluids.
The most common and popular cause of catching HIV is unprotected sex with a person who is already infected with the disease.
Another one is sharing the same syringe of drugs with someone who is HIV positive.
It is also be shared by a mother to a child by breastfeeding, the virus is does not spread through air droplets it is spread by some human contact like drinking from the same glass which is been used by the HIV patient, kissing and oral sex.

CONCLUSION
Support the people with HIV or AIDS, do not do any kind of partiality with them, do not run away from them or cut them off from your lives as HIV is not spread through common human contacts, it is not contagious, the person is already going through a lot, so be the person with humanity and wide thinking.
If any of your friend or family relative is been HIV positive, stand by with him and let him know that is not their fault, push them to the positive side of life and take care of them.

COVID-19 | Alert, Information
COVID-19 | Alert, Information & Advisory
For the past One month, we frequently heard a name Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. Almost the world under lockdown. Is COVID-19 is that much Serious Disease? Why this much serious shown towards Coronavirus? What is Novel Coronavirus Disease? What are the symptoms of COVID-19? What should I do if i found myself as a COIVD-19 Positive? How to prevent us from this Corona Virus? Let’s See Deeply on this article.
Tumblr media
Stay Home, Stay Safe…! This is the slogan we heard from every direction. Every World leaders start their speech with this slogan from the past one-month Lets enter into the article and we get clear answer for all the above questions.
What is Novel Coronavirus Disease?
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease COVID-19.
What is COVID-19
COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus. This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.
What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
The COVID-19 virus affects different people in different ways.  COVID-19 is a respiratory disease and most infected people will develop mild to moderate symptoms and recover without requiring special treatment.  People who have underlying medical conditions and those over 60 years old have a higher risk of developing severe disease and death.
Common symptoms include:
fever
tiredness
dry cough.
Other symptoms include:
shortness of breath
aches and pains
sore throat
and very few people will report diarrhea, nausea or a runny nose.
People with mild symptoms who are otherwise healthy should self-isolate and contact their medical provider or a COVID-19 information line for advice on testing and referral.
People with fever, cough or difficulty breathing should call their doctor and seek medical attention.
Tumblr media
What should I do if i found myself as a COIVD-19 Positive?
First, Don’t panic. It is a 100% not deadly disease if you have immunity in your body to fight for the next 14 days you will be 100% cured. As of now, the death rate is only 3-5% of the total affected.
Panic is the first enemy to fight against COVID-19. Based on research fear is decreasing your immunity power. So don’t get panic first, You just isolate yourself from others and inform your doctor or help-care that you having those above symptoms. In case if your test result is positive don’t worry you have a 95% chance get recovered completely from this disease.
At the time of writing this article there was no exact medicine was found against coronavirus. You can ask me then how you get to recover from coronavirus without and antibiotic. Yes your white cells take charge here. your inborn immunity power will kill coronavirus. But it takes a couple of weeks. for that time you should be alive that’s all.
For that,
keep your room or living area clean to low down the virus density around you.
Get Self-isolated to avoid spreading
Take High immunity foods like Tea, Raw Citrus drinks, Mint, Pepper, Ginger water.
Avoid carbonated drinks and fried items.
I will suggest some supplements to improve your immunity at the last of this article. Non-affected peoples can also take those supplements which is FDA approved.
How does COVID-19 spread
People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets. This is why it is important to stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick.
Tumblr media
Can the virus that causes COVID-19 be transmitted through the air?
Studies to date suggest that the virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through contact with respiratory droplets rather than through the air. See previous answer on “How does COVID-19 spread?”
Can CoVID-19 be caught from a person who has no symptoms?
The main way the disease spreads is through respiratory droplets expelled by someone who is coughing. The risk of catching COVID-19 from someone with no symptoms at all is very low. However, many people with COVID-19 experience only mild symptoms. This is particularly true at the early stages of the disease. It is, therefore, possible to catch COVID-19 from someone who has, for example, just a mild cough and does not feel ill.
Can I catch COVID-19 from the feces of someone with the disease?
The risk of catching COVID-19 from the feces of an infected person appears to below. While initial investigations suggest the virus may be present in feces in some cases, spread through this route is not a main feature of the outbreak. The ongoing research on the ways COVID-19 is spread and will continue to share new findings. Because this is a risk, however, it is another reason to clean hands regularly, after using the bathroom and before eating.
Final Words
Our world had more experience in the past like this pandemic disease. So don’t worry first CoVID-19 is not a killing virus but it’s a fast-spreading virus. So only all governments take severe action against this disease. If the number of the patient increased the only difficulty to the government providing ventilation for all. Apart from that prevention is better than cure. So keep self-isolated for a couple of months. Keep your self-sanitary things and self-hygiene Keep your environment as humility free. Stay home… Stay Safe…!

Can Dogs Eat Pumpkins? What About Other Fall Vegetables?
Tumblr media
With Halloween coming up soon, most dog parents are wondering: “Can dogs eat pumpkins?” To that end, are other fall fruits and vegetables safe for dogs to eat? Let’s take a look at a representative sampling, including such autumnal favorites as:
Apples
Beets
Broccoli
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Green beans
Kale
Lettuce
Oats
Pumpkins
Radishes
Spinach
Sweet potatoes
Zucchini
Can dogs eat pumpkins?
It has been long and widely acknowledged that pumpkin has definite benefits for dogs, especially those who are having temporary trouble executing successful bowel movements. Surprisingly, little goes a long way. PetMD recommends only a tablespoon of pureed pumpkin mixed in with a dog’s regular food for relief of both diarrhea and constipation. Note that it should be as plain as possible, so pumpkin-pie filling is out, since it is typically saturated with sugars that may only exacerbate loose stools.
Can dogs eat apples?
The next question you might have after, “Can dogs eat pumpkins?” is, “Can dogs eat apples?” — another fall-favorite vegetable? While apple stems and seeds have very small amounts of Amygdalin — a chemical compound that breaks down into cyanide when pulverized and digested — the seeds are so durable, and your dog would have to eat so many, that they present no real danger. All the same, wash the skin of an apple thoroughly to remove any lingering chemical treatments and cut the fruit into easily chewed slices. Note that too much of any sweet fruit can cause temporary stomach upset.
Can dogs eat beets?
According to every source I consulted, including the ASPCA, beets are non-toxic for dogs. Fresh, washed and home-prepared beets are always going to be preferable to canned. This is due to the presence of added salt and preservatives, which may bother your dog’s digestive system. According to one vet, repeated beet eating by dogs may perform a slight dye job on their hair and skin, but no adverse effects!
Can dogs eat broccoli?
We’ve covered broccoli and dogs previously. Cooked or boiled broccoli, free of spices, cheese, or that ranch dip you love, is safe, as is raw. With raw broccoli, though, keep the amount small; the heads, or florets, of broccoli contain a chemical that can cause stomach irritation when released during digestion.
Can dogs eat cabbage?
Once, for St. Patrick’s Day, I asked whether corned beef and cabbage, a traditional holiday repast, was safe to share with dogs. For its own part, cabbage is perfectly safe for dogs to eat in limited portions. The severest consequence of too much cabbage is swelling of the thyroid, and the least seemly is an uptick in your dog’s flatulence.
Several of the vegetables on our list — cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli and kale, are members of the Brassicaceae family of flowering plants. Like the broccoli it so closely resembles, cauliflower presents the same antioxidant benefits — limited though they are — and the amount that a dog can eat safely before affecting a dog’s digestive regularity is equally small.
Can dogs eat green beans?
On an episode of The West Wing, the White House Press Secretary had to stem controversy from Oregon farmers when the President said he didn’t care for green beans. There’s little to argue about with green beans; like many of the vegetables we’re looking at, in moderation and as an occasional treat, they are safe for dogs cooked simply or given raw. Possibly due to the crunch factor, dogs that do eat green beans seem to enjoy them raw.
Can dogs eat kale?
Kale is one of the fall vegetables we planted at the urban farm this year. Like its cousins and siblings in the Brassicaceae family, kale is safe for dogs in very small amounts. According to one Massachusetts veterinarian, kale should be avoided due to the risk of bladder and kidney stones in dogs, so use your best judgment and proceed with caution.
Can dogs eat lettuce?
As with any other vegetable which dogs are not accustomed to eating, lettuce may not be toxic to dogs, but that doesn’t mean you should stick a head of it in the dog bowl before you go to work in the morning. If your dog is constipated, many of the digestive “problems” presented by produce on our list might help move things along, but more of that when we get to oats and pumpkins.
Can dogs eat oats?
Prepared plainly, a bowl of oats has some digestive benefits for dogs, particularly those with bowel movement troubles. Always consult with your dog’s veterinarian before making wholesale changes to a dog’s normal diet. While oats and oatmeal are safe for dogs, keep raisins, sugar and milk out of the dog’s bowl. While the dangers that raisins and grapes present to canine life and health are usually presented with apocalyptic alarmism, we’ll let it suffice to say that both should be kept away from dogs.
Can dogs eat radishes?
Whether grown in your fall garden or fresh from the produce section of your local grocery, radishes are safe for dogs in small amounts. Sources allege that dogs may find the taste of a radish unpleasant, but like carrots, these tough, hardy veggies can also serve as natural chew toys and teeth cleansers for enterprising dogs. Let your dog steer clear of wild radishes and their flowers.
Can dogs eat spinach?
The presence of oxalates in spinach leads some people to hesitate, knowing that they play a role in kidney stone formation. Your dog would have to eat a truly outrageous amount of spinach to experience any adverse effects. A few leaves of fresh, well-rinsed, raw spinach may serve your dog well, just as a couple of leaves of lettuce will, as an occasional treat.
Can dogs eat sweet potatoes?
As long as the sweet potato is fully grown, matured and prepared very simply, your dog may enjoy a bit of this fleshy orange fall vegetable. Boiled, baked or even dehydrated sweet potato slices are safe for dogs to eat. They are high in carbohydrates, which dogs don’t need an excessive amount of in their diets. Keep your serving sizes small or limit the number of prepackaged sweet potato dog treats you offer your dogs.
Can dogs eat zucchini?
Finally, zucchini is both safe and healthy for dogs, whether served as frozen chunks, raw bits, or grated and sprinkled over a dog’s normal food. Even though they do not have the same kick as radishes, some dogs may wrinkle their noses at zucchini on first taste.
None of the fall fruits or vegetables we’ve covered in this piece are toxic or dangerous to a dog’s health. Keep in mind that while dogs will certainly eat vegetable matter, it should never stand in for or completely replace a dog’s normal diet. Nor should you make any dramatic changes to your dog’s typical food, especially for health reasons, without first consulting a veterinarian. Also, though each of the items we’ve looked at is safe to give dogs, excess of any new food item can cause temporary digestive upset or gas discharge, so proceed with caution!

How can you be proud of being Celiac? That’s like me being proud of having my arm ripped off by a shark and gloating about how awesome having one arm is. Being broken isn’t something to proud of. It’s shameful you just need to get over it and eat what people give you people in Africa are starving and here you are complaining about food. Grow up.
Sorry your post just sounded condescending like people aren’t allowed to talk about a normal thing like food because you are triggered by food and don’t seem to understand people are starving in third world countries and you are acting like being a burden to others because of your so called food allergy is a good thing. Get over it and eat what people give you stop being a big baby just eat it the worse that can happen is you get a tummy ache. Unless your allergy is deadly you have no excuse.
Heya friend! It’s great to hear from you and I’m hoping you’re having a spectacular, relaxing day! You’ll be glad to know that my emotional low from last night is over. I got a good night’s rest, woke happy, and am ready to blog about dragons and other non-personal things you may enjoy more! :D
I also want to say I got your later ask. I’m touched you went and learned more about Celiac, and took the effort of sending me a kindhearted follow-up. I don’t know many people who would do that, so huge kudos, dude. It’s cool between us, friend, and I’m not offended. Thankfully I’ve got a tough hide and it takes a lot more to make me blink. I’m just feeling grateful you came to stop by again.
Tumblr media
I hope it’s okay with you if I respond to your original message, though. There’s still a number of things that bother me, which weren’t nullified with your final message, which I would like to respectfully address.
I’m sorry if you or anyone else felt I spoke condescendingly or selfishly. I never wish to make others feel unwelcome. I was hoping to vent my perspective while showing that I care about others’ perspectives on this topic. If my words suggested negativity toward the other party, I did exactly what I didn’t wish or intend to do, didn’t even feel toward them, and I’m sorry for hurting anyone in the process.
What my post was about (for people catching up on this convo)
Last night under a Read More, I wrote a rare train-of-thought venting post. As you might expect on a personal vent post, I was emotionally compromised, obviously unhappy, and talking about my feelings. I talked about what it’s like for me to have a squick on food as a conversation topic.
I discussed how I felt uncomfortable but let everyone socialize, talk, etc. about food in front of me, because I didn’t find it worthwhile to bring up my discomfort and find compromise, and because I wanted to put my friends’ happiness first. In the few times I confided with friends that it bothered me, little changed afterwards. I’d rather stay silent and make people comfortable than worry I’m a social burden by restricting conversations on food, or have people try to cook accommodating dietary restrictions they’re not educated on accommodating. Essentially, I constantly fake friendly and minimize my social impact so others have fun and I’m never seen as a spoilsport or bother.
I said Celiac Disease means it’s hard to partake in trust-forming cultural food rituals (dinner parties, gifting food, religious ceremonies). I said don’t enjoy food related socialization because I feel socially left out and unable to bond in the activities everyone else can bond in. While I’m comfortable with Celiac Disease, proud of being gluten free, I said my challenge comes with interacting in a culture that can’t easily include me because of dietary differences.
I mentioned food’s also an uncomfortable topic because it’s central to ongoing mental illness struggles: I had eating disorder issues in college, and also have chronic difficulties eating properly in my Depression swings. Since food is a battle I’m constantly fighting, I have negative associations with it.
To make things clear: there was no point I said I forced others to comply with my desires and comforts, or believed people should be censored for talking about everyday things they liked. There was no point where I said that I felt like a social burden because of pride in my diet, or that my pride was what made me a social burden. I’m not happy that my squick and food intolerance can infringe on other people’s comforts, especially when I know they want to connect with me relationally and I have to awkwardly decline that goodwill gesture.
Aaaaand now we’re all on the same page!
About Celiac Disease the medical condition
Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disorder where the body responds to gluten like poison. Even small amounts of ongoing cross-contamination can result in permanently damaged small intestines. Long-term effects of ingesting gluten include everything from anemia to infertility to osteoporosis to neurological disorders / brain damage to cancer risks. It’s imperative for Celiacs to eat a strict gluten free diet for health. As an infant, before I got diagnosed and was put on a gluten free diet, I was malnourished, with a distended stomach, losing weight. Before the USA required health insurance companies to accept people with pre-existing conditions, I was denied coverage because I was considered a “high risk” medical liability.
Short-term effects can be nasty. Everyone’s different when they have a one-time exposure incident, but the last time I accidentally ingested gluten, I was vomiting, dry retching, disoriented from extreme vertigo, and reduced to shaking violently, uncontrollably on the floor for 2+ hours. It was so bad I feared I’d somehow ODed on ibuprofen (because it felt similar to ODing… heh, the one time I did accidentally OD myself, it was THE worst I’ve felt physically in my LIFE).That time spent trembling on the floor doesn’t include the diarrhea, bloating, headaches, etc. that followed once I felt comfortable standing and walking again. All that happened because a restaurant didn’t take my order seriously when I carefully specified “gluten free noodles.” Because somebody in the kitchen thought I’m some entitled special snowflake, eh? Funny joke to make the finicky eater eat what they don’t like, huh?
Even for allergies with no long-term health complications, I think it’s bad to hold the burden of social “kindness” on the person being offered food. In a situation where someone offers food to another, it’s socially dispreferred to decline the meal. Depending on culture, it can be seen as extremely rude. But nobody should have to HARM themselves to please a gift giver. That’s what happens when people with food issues accept a food gift. Doesn’t matter that the food’s offered in good faith. Doesn’t matter if it’s only one night of bloating and headaches. I shouldn’t have to stab myself in the hand if someone offers me a sewing needle. I know culturally food’s a big deal, but that’s why we contemporary society needs better education on dietary restrictions, allergens, and intolerances. It’s frankly terrifying that someone is called SELFISH for not wanting to be HURT. There’s polite ways we could thank a person, decline their offer, and show we care about them through other means.
About Celiac Disease, pride, and identity
I’m only “broken” because others say I am.You’re not broken for being unable to digest arsenic. You can still eat healthy, nutritional foods and live a full, productive life. Same with me. It’s just my poison’s gluten. It’s easy to eat balanced meals and get every protein, every chemical, my body needs. My body isn’t breaking down. That’s hardly the same thing as a shark attacking me in some near-death experience. And let’s give sharks love, by the way! More people die from elevators. [source! XD]
Your analogy with the arm worries me, friend. Talking about someone’s disability that derogatorily is ableist. While losing a limb can be traumatic for many and requires enormous, challenging lifestyle changes… calling someone “broken” for one less appendage is regrettably offensive language.
I think it’s interesting in one sentence you call me “broken” and use the analogy of a near-deadly shark attack… and then in the next sentence downplay my issues as so irrelevant they’re just a “tummy ache.” Which is it, friend? I’m thankful you read up on Celiac and now know it’s more severe than that, but I hope when you run into future instances of even people with “lesser” allergies, you might reconsider how you discuss our everyday diet and food social choices.
I’m not proud of Celiac Disease because it makes me a finicky eater (contrarily, used to menu limitations, I’ll gratefully eat just about anything safe). People with food intolerances aren’t finicky eaters; they’re people trying to protect their health. What I mean by pride is confidence in my identity and pride for the lifestyle Celiac has given me.
Pride in identity, even about unideal sides of us, I think is healthy. We cripple ourselves if we’re unable to emotionally accept we’re imperfect. And I don’t mean something like “proud of being a jerk.” I mean “proud of getting through life.” Pride in experiencing bad circumstances makes sense. I’m NOT saying my diet is Some Giant Trial, but when people go through trials, we can take pride in that we survived, grew, and matured through pain. Difficulties mold us into better people, so while we might not enjoy suffering, we can take pride in the better person suffering made us be. Honestly, in the areas where I have gone through major shit, I wouldn’t change anything about that past; I’d rather have learned from the pain than be the fool I was before.
Pride in our identity is also about accepting we can be unique people, comfortable differing from the crowd. The reason I’m happy and comfortable is that for me, Celiac is a lifestyle, not a limitation. We define ourselves by how we interact and integrate with culture. Diet is one way we can find lifestyle and comfort. Even if I could magically eat rye tomorrow, I wouldn’t. I never would, because a gluten free diet is ingrained into my cultural, everyday thinking and lifestyle. People can take pride in their family’s Thai cuisine; others can feel happy in something like vegetarianism or gluten-free eating, too. It’s part of my identity. I like that avoiding gluten has allowed me to think critically of my health and diet, be confident in being individual from the crowd, and be conscientious not only in how I consume food products, but how I choose to delegate my time and money. I also feel like it’s taught me how to be more self conscious of what others may need, and to be content with what I can have. It definitely doesn’t make me a perfect person (heh, I suck), but I think it’s taught me valuable things, and I’m proud that I can continue living this lifestyle as part of me.Also I frankly would feel weird as FUCK if I could just walk up and eat something without thinking. That’s… that’s not normal to me. xD I can’t untrain two and a half decades of constantly reading labels, haha!
The morality of focusing on everyday woes
Logical fallacies are unsound arguments which use incorrect reasoning. In other words, if someone uses a logical fallacy, their arguments are useless. The Fallacy of Relative Privation is a logical fallacy that disregards information because more important problems exist elsewhere. It fails to take into account that multiple problems can exist on our radar simultaneously, and that we as humans have a right to handle both serious and simple issues in our lives. As you may see now, your first message did use that fallacy.
I’m no Great Moral Teacher… I’m an idiot human like the rest of us… but I hope it’s not presumptuous of me to consider…The existence of starving, dying children in “third” (and first!) world countries… doesn’t mean I shouldn’t help my neighbor’s child when she gets a sprained ankle. Why would I sit back when she’s injured? We make positive impact when we treat sprains. By contrast, criticisms make zero positive impact. Doing kind deeds, big and little, will ALWAYS make more net good than not doing small kindnesses. Personally, I suspect we can’t provide optimal sympathy and change the world… unless we’re able to acknowledge and handle all manners of struggles. Are we truly a kind person if we tout about Big Political Issues while ignoring every emotion and feeling that makes a human tick? Are we providing the best response to someone who’s lost their home in a hurricane… if we’re not comforting them through that tragedy like they’re an everyday neighbor?I’d probably look like an asshole if a friend who hadn’t eaten all day came to me, said they’d lost their wallet, and asked to borrow five bucks – and I said, “Grow up, there’s starving children in Eritrea.” I don’t have to lend the $5, that’s chill, but telling him his problems are nothing because of starving kids is… well… ridiculous. That’s an ABSURD, out-of-proportion response to something I can easily fix, no fuss. There’s no reason I can’t say, “Sure, pay me back next week,” hand him $5, and then when I get home, make sure I’ve sent my $50 monthly donation to [insert NGO here]. I’d definitely be an asshole friend if every time he wanted to talk to me about things that weren’t optimal (rent, a rude text from his ex, grocery bill prices), I just said, “Grow up, baby, there’s bigger problems.” In life, it’s both relevant for me to pay my bills (a small stress) and consider donating to big causes that’ll stop the Amazon rain forest burnings. We’re able to – and all of us *do* – handle both sets of priorities, the big and the little. So why shouldn’t we go about our lives, looking into not only the “big” things we can do, but taking advantage when we can help people with their everyday discomforts, too?I just wish to say this so that none of us continue using the “someone’s doing worse” argument to discount others’ problems. There’s no reason why we can’t respect everyone’s struggles and help out everywhere. Doing our part to make more people comfortable and content is never in vain.
If anyone get frustrated about someone’s vent post again, I hope we all can remember! If the important things in life are Big Issues like world hunger. Maybe we should find ways to not get prioritize our time, effort, emotions, opinions, and investment prioritizing. On one soon-to-be forgotten post. Out of tens of thousands one blogger made. Out of billions. Of posts. From millions of people. On a website. That is used to share furry porn and loss.jpg memes. XD Heeheehee.
About venting on tumblr
When a person is venting, they’re going through a momentary emotional low. That’s not their normal, everyday personality. Lots of people are humble and controlled when discussing the same topics in better mental states. I know I sounded emotional in that post and focused that post on me; that’s the point of venting, though. Bottling up is unhealthy; occasionally talking out what bothers us is useful emotional processing.Even the greatest people have bad days where what they’ve bottled blows up. Are we not allowed to have occasional bad days where we break down? Are we not allowed to talk about our personal feelings because others don’t have the same problem? Does a one-time venting about one issue for one hour make us lifelong selfish whiners?Heck, if Jesus Christ is allowed a moment where he cusses out a fig tree for not having ripe fruit, and billions of people respect his moral teachings, I think we’re ALL allowed moments where we break down and cry over everyday stress. XD
One fascinating issue with social media, especially tumblr, is that our blogs are personal accounts, but followers treat blogs like consumable content. While Maria’s on tumblr to socialize with friends or talk about fandom, her followers want to be entertained by her “product,” her original posts. Unfortunately, this means many bloggers get condemned for being human. They get criticized for everyday reactions everyday humans experience: venting, having a bad day, or making simple mistakes. But this isn’t a professional account of a celebrity who has PR editing posts for public image; these are social accounts of everyday people experiencing life’s ups and downs, who should be allowed to use their personal blog as they will. They’re not cultivated entertainers; they’re creatures socializing online.
Maybe 1% of my posts are emotional venting. I don’t like venting much on tumblr. 100% of those rare vent posts are placed under read mores with tags that make it clear I’m venting. If any of ya’ll don’t want to experience them, you can choose not to click “Read More”. And you’ll never even see what I’m feeling!
Anyway! I’m all chill now! You guys have a great day, stay awesome, and thanks for thinking about the impacts of allergies, intolerances, eating disorders, and autoimmune diseases! I’m very thankful to the people who talked to me when I was struggling last night, listened to me, and suffered through my emotionality. I’m excited to keep talking about dragons and whatever else comes my way on tumblr! Hope we can have fun talking about these things together!

8 Alarming Signs Your Dog May Be Sick
Tumblr media
It is not always easy to determine if your dog may be sick or in pain.
The reason for that developed from their roots as wolves. Just like many groups, packs or herds, sick and weak animals have a high risk of getting killed and being abandoned from their group.
So animals that are hurt or sick will only show signs when it is practically too late for them.
As we have domesticated dogs for so many years, we can better tell if our companion is not feeling so well.
The best way to quickly cure any illness is by noticing early signs and taking your dog to the vet. For this, here are 8 alarming signs your dog may be sick.
1. Taking Distance
Your dog might be ill if he starts to retreat to his crate, dog bed or another room when he normally would lie near the family.
If he should be active and playful and is instead avoiding activity and interaction that may indicate that he is not feeling very well.
2. Breathing Issues
Every dog owner knows that snoring can get really intance when their pet is sleeping.
But there are many signs that you should be looking out for that may be caused by a respiration illness.
Symptoms include coughing, load breathing, gagging, and nasal discharge. You have to seek a vet immediately if the gums and tongue of your dog are more blue-ish whereas they should be pink.
3. Diarreha
If the poop of your dog doesn’t contain any solid texture and is watery then your dog is suffering from diarrhea.
Diarrhea should be checked with your vet to determine if it is caused by digestive problems or something else.
I always treat and prevent light diarrhea symptoms with lactose-free and low-fat yogurt.
The next day my dog is diarrhea free. You can also add coconut rasps for the taste and health benefits.
4. Less or No Appetite
Dogs love food more than anything. If there have been no changes in his food, daily schedule or circumstances and your dog refuses to eat then he might be ill and should be checked by a vet.
5. Runny and Cloudy Eyes
If your dog is constantly scratching himself, has diarrhea, dry skin and runny eyes then you could have an autoimmune reaction or other health issue.
Just like humans, dogs can also suffer from allergies against dust, pollen, mites or food. A vet can give him an allergy test to determine the cause of this reaction.
6. Pain
Like I said before, dogs just like wolves do not show any signs of pain and it is not an indicator that the pain can’t be bad. He will most likely suffer quietly.
You should get help for your dog if you recognize swelling, fatigue, drooling, growling or pulling away the hurting body part.
Do not give your dog human pain killers as they can be deadly for dogs and rather visit the vet.
7. Dizzy or Confused
If your dog seems to have a problem keeping balance and wanders around aimlessly through your house that is probably an indication for a certain illness.
He can also experience neurological issues that come with loss of consciousness, seizures, stumbling, and disorientation.
A sudden change in behavior should also concern you as dogs are pretty consistent with what they do and how they react every day.
Either way, a vet should have a look at your dog espacially if it is a very young or very old dog.
8. Dull Coat
The skin and fur of a dog is a great indicator for their health. The more shiny and smooth it is the healthier your dog.
If the coat of your dog is looking dull or even has bald patches which could be cause by parasites or other health problems.
Generally speaking, you should always keep an eye on your dog as nobody knows your dog as good as you do.
If you notice any changes in his body or behavior, go to a vet and consult him first before giving any medication.
How to Treat a Sick Dog
Pay attention to the exact symptoms your dog is showing and when they are occurring. You can also write them down in case you will need them when visiting the vet. Is he eating and drinking? Is he able to urinate and defecate? Does he have a fever or seizures? Is he limping or in pain?
If your dog is vomiting, withhold any food for 12 to 24 hours and see if the symptoms get better. Encourage your dog to drink some water to keep him hydrated and start with small amounts so he won’t throw it up. If your dog didn’t throw up for 24 hours, you can give him some easily digestible food like white rice and cooked chicken for 1-2 days.
You can also add some cheese or yogurt which helps build up the bacteria in the intestine. Split his food into 4 small meals per day and feed him one cup per 10 pounds of weight. So if he weighs 40 pounds, you can feed one cup in the morning, lunchtime, afternoon and evening.
Encourage your dog to rest while he is sick and restrict him from playtime so his body can heal. Do not leave him outside in the backyard and provide him with a comfortable, quiet and warm space inside.
Do not leave him alone at home when he is ill and keep paying attention to his symptoms. Do not hesitate to call your vet when in doubt.
When to Visit the Vet
There are certain symptoms that will require immediate veterinary care:
Severe vomiting and diarrhea
Bleeding
Sudden behavior change
Ingestion of foreign object or toxins
Broken bones
Breathing issues
Seizures
Unconsciousness
Not producing urine
Unable to defecate
Shivering
Sudden pain without a trauma
Refusing to eat or drink for 24 hours
Red/Swollen gums
Runny nose or eyes
How to Prevent Your Dog from Getting Sick
You cannot avoid that your dog will get sick some day but there are a few things that are totally preventable that will keep your dog healthy and happy.
Keep your home puppy proof – Restrict your dog’s access to chemical cleaners and other household items that are dangerous for him. Do not spray deodorant or any other chemical in the same room with your dog.
Lock away toxic foods – Do not give your dog access to any type of food or the garbage can. Keep everything behind counters and closed up. There are many beverages that most dog owners don’t know that they are toxic to dogs, like chocolate, avocado, bacon, sugar, raisins, grapes and so much more.
No table scraps – Never feed your dog food from the table. You neither want to encourage begging and it is not healthy for your dog. Most human food is full of fat, oil, and seasoning, so a big no for any dog.
No over the counter medication – Never give your dog human medicine. It will make him sicker and most are extremely deadly. Vets can’t treat your dog as long as pain killers or other medicine is still in the system, so you are putting your dog’s life at risk

PSA: Fragrance Free, Perfume Free; your hygiene products may be causing others harm (please take a moment to read).
Allergic disease is one of the most common chronic health conditions in the world. People with a family  history of allergies have an increase risk of developing allergic disease. Hay fever (allergic rhinitis), eczema, hives, asthma, and food allergy are some types of allergic diseases. Allergy symptoms can range from mild to a serious, life-threatening allergic reaction (anaphylaxis).
Allergic reactions begin in your immune system. When a harmless substance such as dust, mold, or pollen is encountered by a person who is allergic to that substance, the immune system may over react by producing antibodies that "attack" the allergen. The can cause wheezing, itching, runny nose, watery or itchy eyes, and other symptoms.
What is the immune system?
The purpose of the immune system is to defend itself and keep microorganisms, such as certain bacteria, viruses, and fungi, out of the body, and to destroy any infectious microorganisms that do invade the body. The immune system is made up of a complex and vital network of cells and organs that protect the body from infection.
The organs involved with the immune system are called the lymphoid organs. They affect growth, development, and the release of lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell). The blood vessels and lymphatic vessels are important parts of the lymphoid organs. They carry the lymphocytes to and from different areas in the body. Each lymphoid organ plays a role in the production and activation of lymphocytes.
Lymphoid organs include:
Adenoids (two glands located at the back of the nasal passages)
Appendix (a small tube that is connected to the large intestine)
Blood vessels (the arteries, veins, and capillaries through which blood flows)
Bone marrow (the soft, fatty tissue found in bone cavities)
Lymph nodes (small organs shaped like beans, which are located throughout the body and connect via the lymphatic vessels)
Lymphatic vessels (a network of channels throughout the body that carries lymphocytes to the lymphoid organs and bloodstream)
Peyer's patches (lymphoid tissue in the small intestine)
Spleen (a fist-sized organ located in the abdominal cavity)
Thymus (two lobes that join in front of the trachea behind the breast bone)
Tonsils (two oval masses in the back of the throat)
How does a person become allergic?
Allergens can be inhaled, ingested, or enter through the skin. Common allergic reactions, such as hay fever, certain types of asthma, and hives are linked to an antibody produced by the body called immunoglobulin E (IgE). Each IgE antibody can be very specific, reacting against certain pollens and other allergens. In other words, a person can be allergic to one type of pollen, but not another. When a susceptible person is exposed to an allergen, the body starts producing a large quantity of similar IgE antibodies. The next exposure to the same allergen may result in an allergic reaction. Symptoms of an allergic reaction will vary depending on the type and amount of allergen encountered and the manner in which the body's immune system reacts to that allergen.
Allergies can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, race, or socioeconomic status. Generally, allergies are more common in children. However, a first-time occurrence can happen at any age, or recur after many years of remission.  Hormones, stress, smoke, PERFUME, or environmental irritants may also play a role in the development or severity of allergies.
What is anaphylactic shock?
Anaphylactic shock, also called anaphylaxis, is a severe, life-threatening reaction to certain allergens. Body tissues may swell, including tissues in the throat. Anaphylactic shock is also characterized by a sudden drop in blood pressure. The following are the most common symptoms of anaphylactic shock. However, each person may experience symptoms differently. Other symptoms may include:
Itching and hives over most of the body
Feeling warm
Swelling of the throat and tongue or tightness in throat
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
Dizziness
Headache
Pain or cramps
Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
Shock
Loss of consciousness
Feeling light-headed
Anxiety
Abnormal heart rate (too fast or too slow)
Anaphylactic shock can be caused by an allergic reaction to a drug, food, serum, insect venom, allergen extract, or CHEMICALS. Some people who are aware of their allergic reactions or allergens carry an emergency anaphylaxis kit that contains injectable epinephrine (a drug that stimulates the adrenal glands and increases the rate and force of the heartbeat).

Personal note: People that have suppressed immune systems are severely impacted by other people’s choices of scented hygiene products or use of scents (perfumes, scented candles, laundry detergent, air fresheners, car scents, Febreze, deodorants, hair products, ‘crotch perfumes’, etc.)
Many health care offices are becoming “scent free” zones. More and more people are developing these problems and as more awareness is put forth, more options open up to people who have this disease instead of being forced to hide away from public/social interactions. Many can not attend public functions such as concerts, church services, graduations, etc. They can not use public transportation such as buses, planes and trains due to being trapped in these toxic environments. You can make a difference by changing just a few things and helping others be aware on how they may severely be impacting other peoples health around them.
I can just hear people snorting and rolling their eyes … I use to be one of those snorters and eye rollers but now I am one of ‘those people’ that ask for others to please be aware of the toxic chemicals you wear. I would love to go to my children’s recitals, to weddings or funerals, to the art gallery, shopping, to a concert, to a restaurant, etc without being fearful of being trapped in a toxic environment. When I go out, I make a plan of escape and limit time enclosed. I even sometimes, like during holidays, have to ‘test the air’ by stepping in and just standing there to see if I get a reaction from my body before proceeding further in.  The other day I had to leave Adoration because someone came in all scented up and sat two pews diagonally away from me. I was embarrassed by all the sneezing/choking/rasping breathing and gasping I was doing as I bumbled and crashed my way out of the church with my head spinning and blurred vision, hoping to get out before I passed out.
Please people, just be thoughtful and think a little bit … it may be a lovely perfume or after shave, your favourite deodorant or hair product but do you really want to hurt someone? If you are going to an indoor setting with other people, is it possible to be scent free for the event? If you do, I thank you and others like me thank you as well! God bless!

Food Allergy vs. Food Intolerance: Why the Difference Matters
Although we have a lot to learn about food intolerances, ever-growing research proves that they aren’t psychological or make-believe. Read on to learn the differences between a true food allergy and a food intolerance, some examples of common food intolerances, and how healing your gut can, in some cases, alleviate the problem.
Food intolerances are very real—and can have serious consequences if they’re ignored. Check out this article to find out the difference between a food allergy and a food intolerance. #wellness #chriskresser
Food Allergy vs. Food Intolerance—They’re Not the Same
Food allergies are on the rise, especially in children:
Between 1997 and 2011 food allergies increased by 50 percent in American children (1)
Today, around 1 in 13 children and 1 in 25 adults in the United States suffer from a life-threatening food allergy (2)
In a true food allergy, a person’s immune system produces immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in response to her consumption of a particular food. These IgE antibodies initiate a cascade of events that can affect the skin (hives), the respiratory tract (wheezing), and/or the GI tract (vomiting).
In severe anaphylactic cases, an allergic reaction can be life threatening if not treated immediately with epinephrine.
Even more common than food allergies, food intolerances are estimated to affect up to 20 percent of the population in industrialized countries. (3, 4, 5) Food intolerances are not IgE mediated and are thought to be caused by specific enzyme deficiencies, impaired food absorption, and other GI issues. (6) In many cases, other immunoglobulin antibody responses may also be involved (IgA and IgG)—but more on that later.
Food intolerances generally don’t trigger the dramatic or immediate reactions associated with food allergies, but they’re every bit as real, with varied symptoms like nausea, vomiting, respiratory problems, brain fogginess, and skin reactions such as eczema.
If unmanaged, food intolerances can have serious health consequences too. If you don’t know you have a food intolerance and keep eating the offending food(s), you increase your risk of developing an autoimmune disease, neurological disorders, and more. (7, 8, 9, 10)
Five Common Food Intolerances
Let’s explore some common food intolerances that affect millions of people.
1. Celiac Disease
Often confused with a wheat allergy, celiac disease (CD) is not an allergy but rather an autoimmune disease, characterized by an inflammatory immune response to wheat gluten, rye, barley, and related proteins. Affecting 1 to 5 percent of Americans, CD usually manifests as GI disturbances like abdominal pain and diarrhea, but many patients with CD have no GI symptoms and may not even know they have it. (11, 12)
These atypical, or “silent,” forms of CD are far from harmless. Silent CD is associated with higher rates of iron deficiency, anemia, osteoporosis, neurological symptoms, and a nearly fourfold increase in the risk of death. (13, 14)
2. Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance
CD screening only tests for antibodies to a few components found in gluten, but people can react to many other components of wheat and gluten in a condition called non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS). (15, 16, 17, 18, 19) No robust diagnosis yet exists for NCGS. The best clinical description is: “a reaction to gluten that resolves when gluten is removed from the diet, and CD and allergy have been ruled out.” (20)
Despite its inexact diagnosis, NCGS is real—and studies are proving it. Double-blind, placebo-controlled trials indicate that a subset of people who do not have CD or a wheat allergy can and do indeed react horribly to gluten when they don’t know whether they are being given gluten or not. (21, 22, 23)
Up to one in 20 Americans may have NCGS, which can affect the brain, skin, endocrine system, stomach, liver, blood vessels, and more. NCGS can produce a wide range of symptoms: (24, 25, 26)
Bloating
Abdominal pain
Gas and related pain
Diarrhea
Constipation
Tiredness
Headache
Anxiety
Foggy mind
Eczema
Chronic fatigue
Joint and muscle pain
Asthma
Depression
Unfortunately, many health professionals still don’t take NCGS seriously, which does a huge disservice to those suffering. In fact, NCGS, especially if undiagnosed, can be even more serious than CD. Epithelial damage to the gut, systemic immune activation, and systemic inflammation are all linked to NCGS. (27) By continuing to eat gluten, patients with NCGS are at higher risk of developing arthritis, thyroiditis, multiple sclerosis, ataxia, diabetes, and even amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease). (28, 29, 30, 31)
3. FODMAP Intolerance
Sometimes, people who think they are sensitive to gluten may actually be intolerant to FODMAPs, or fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols. FODMAPs, a type of carbohydrate, are found in many common foods besides wheat, including:
High-fructose fruits
Asparagus
Brussels sprouts
Garlic
Onions
In the case of FODMAP intolerance, the GI tract isn’t fully digesting and absorbing these short-chain carbs, which are then fermented by gut bacteria, creating gas and increasing fluid movement into the large bowel. (32)
FODMAP intolerance is common in people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). By adhering to a low-FODMAP diet, up to 75 percent of people have relief from functional gut disorder symptoms, especially IBS. (33, 34, 35, 36, 37). However, a low-FODMAP diet is not advisable long term because it can decrease microbial diversity and density of beneficial bacterial species. (38, 39)
4. Lactose Intolerance
Up to 65 percent of the world’s population—literally billions of people—may be lactose intolerant. (40) Lactase, the enzyme that digests the milk sugar lactose, is present in infants and young children, presumably to digest breast milk, but many people don’t maintain full lactase function beyond childhood. (41, 42)
Why Eat Dairy, Anyway?
Most iterations of the Paleo diet don’t include dairy. But, if well tolerated, dairy can be a nutritious and beneficial part of a Paleo template. If you’re not eating fish heads, bones, and skin, getting adequate calcium without dairy isn’t easy. Pastured dairy is a great source of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and K2 and is a primary source of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a beneficial, naturally occurring trans fat thought to have anti-cancer properties. (43)
5. IgG- and IgA-Mediated Food Intolerances
Many prominent immunologists argue that some (maybe even most) food intolerances do activate the immune system, but rather than being IgE mediated like a food allergy, they are mediated by IgG and IgA antibodies. IgG- and IgA-mediated food intolerances are thought to be related to increased gut permeability and are often implicated in Crohn’s disease and other GI conditions. (44, 45) If the gut is permeable, food molecules can escape and be detected by the immune system.
Symptoms of these intolerances range from allergy-like reactions such as rashes and asthma to GI symptoms like cramps, constipation, and diarrhea and neurological symptoms such as migraines. (46) Unlike IgE-mediated responses, IgA- and IgG-mediated responses can take days or even months to occur, which makes identifying the culprit(s) more difficult. (47)
How to Overcome a Food Intolerance
People with food allergies generally have them for life, although children sometimes can “outgrow” allergies to milk, egg, wheat, or soy. But you might be able to do something about a food intolerance by healing your gut.
Food intolerance circles back to compromised gut health. In most cases, a food isn’t being digested properly and/or or food molecules are getting past the gut lining when they shouldn’t be able to.
Here are some ways to fix your gut:
Increase stomach acid using supplementation and herbs. Stomach acid is needed for digestion. Although many people think they have too much stomach acid, they may in fact have too little.
Get tested and treated for SIBO or intestinal pathogens to reestablish a healthy gut flora.
Eat sauerkraut and other fermented foods and consider taking a probiotic supplement.
Eat fermentable fiber, as prebiotics can be even more effective than probiotics at improving the microbiota profile.
Drink bone broth. The gelatin, glycine, and glutamine in bone broth all have beneficial effects for the gut.
Should You Get Tested for a Food Intolerance?
The most budget-friendly way to identify food intolerances is a 30-day Paleo reset diet, as I’ve outlined in The Paleo Cure, where the most common offenders (dairy, grains, legumes, sweeteners, processed foods, industrial seed oils, and alcohol) are removed from the diet for 30 or even 60 days and then systematically reintroduced.
If your suspected food intolerances seem linked to severe reactions or conditions like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), IBS, or ulcerative colitis, the Paleo autoimmune protocol (AIP) diet, which goes a step beyond Paleo by also initially removing eggs, nightshades, coffee, nuts, and seeds, might be prudent. In a study published in 2017, 11 of the 15 IBD patients who adopted an AIP diet achieved clinical remission in just six weeks! (48) This further supports the idea that the gut and food intolerances are intricately linked.
But because reactions don’t always appear right away, these rudimentary dietary experiments can be incomplete. The next option would be IgA- and IgG-based blood tests.
A lot of controversy surrounds blood tests that screen for food intolerances based on IgA and IgG levels. Some scientists and immunologists claim that levels of IgG and/or IgA antibodies in the blood merely reveal that a patient has been exposed to certain foods, not that they are necessarily intolerant to these foods. (49, 50, 51) I interviewed Dr. Aristo Vojdani, a respected immunologist with many peer-reviewed papers, on this very subject. We explored some of the reasons why not all food intolerance tests are created equal, such as how testing cooked versus raw foods can yield different outcomes, but not all tests measure both. (52)
It’s clear we need more research surrounding reliable, reproducible, and scientifically founded food intolerance testing. However, food exclusion diets based on IgG and/or IgA antibody testing have provided relief for symptoms of:
Ulcerative colitis (53)
IBD (54)
Migraines (55)
Skin disorders (56)
At my clinic, we use the IgG/IgA tests offered by Cyrex Labs. (Your healthcare provider will have to order this for you as this is not a direct-to-consumer lab.) Array 3X identifies gluten and gluten-related protein intolerances. If a patient has celiac disease or NCGS, they are very likely to have other food sensitivities, and I might follow up with Array 4 or Array 10. (57)
Now I’d like to hear from you. Did you know the details of a food allergy vs. food intolerance? Have you ever been dismissed or mocked for claiming to have a food intolerance? Let me know in the comments!

Being Alone, Apparently, and Cats: Mnck ID 62206, 4 YRS, 82 LBS BROOKLYN ACC BIG, FRIENDLY, SOCIAL, WAG GY & SWEET BOY LIKES DOGS. TO BE KILLED – 5/16/2019 Big, friendly, waggy and sweet, MacK was found wandering, scared and alone in the streets of NYC. He may be a big boy, but at that moment he was just a lost little boy on the inside. Dragged into the shelter by police via a rabies pole, his arrival at the care center was nothing short of terrifying. We can't blame him for his anxiety and confusion. But with a few days behind him, he has warmed up nicely to some of his favorite staff members and is a real heartbreaker, soft and attention seeking and a lover of treats. What a stunner too! His one magnificent icy blue eye, the other a warm brown, and his size – he’s 82 lbs of cookies and cream. He loves treats, he enjoys his time in playgroup with his girlfriends (like Sassy for example) and he is so stoic and patient, even when they jump all over him. He understands the meaning of “gentleman” and takes it all in stride. MacK truly needs a loving family, an experienced foster or adopter in an adult only home where he can decompress, relax, open his heart to his new family and feel safe and loved. Will you be the one to make his dream of a family come true? Message our page or email us at [email protected] for assistance fostering or adopting treat loving, heart stealing MacK now! MY MOVIE! I make friends with Sassy, she’s great! https://youtu.be/_OqIuCf0X2g ZEUS, ID# 62206, 4 Yrs. Old, 82 lbs, Unaltered Male Brooklyn ACC, Large Mixed Breed, White / Black I came to the shelter as an Agency, 5/7/2019 Shelter Assessment Rating: NEW HOPE ONLY Medical Behavior Rating: 4. Orange AT RISK NOTE: Although MacK has shown improvement with certain handlers in the care center, he has not acclimated well to the kennel environment and has allowed only minimal handling since intake. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home. Mack was also diagnosed with CIRDC and would have to stay away from other dogs for the next 14 days after diagnosed. INTAKE BEHAVIOR – DATE OF INTAKE, 5/7/2019: Mack was snapping, growling and lunging when being taken out of the crate. No handling was done. SURRENDER NOTES – BASIC INFORMATION: Mack is a large white and black dog that was found loose in the street and was brought to the ACC as a stray. SHELTER ASSESSMENT SUMMARIES Leash Walking Strength and pulling: Hard pulling Reactivity to humans: None Reactivity to dogs: None Leash walking comments: Sociability Loose in room (15-20 seconds): Soft body, tail wagging, ears forward, explores somewhat, jumps up soliciting attention, stays near handlers, readily accepts treats with soft mouth Call over: Does not approach immediately Sociability comments: Mack was observed to walk toward assessor and sniffed the outstretched hand, tensed his body and low growled toward the assessor. In order to minimize Mack's stress levels, the assessment was concluded. PLAYGROUP NOTES – DOG TO DOG SUMMARIES: Mack was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. 5/8: When off leash at the Care Center, Mack is introduced to a novel female dog. He is sexually motivated as he greets the female and places his chin over her back. Mack positions himself to mount the female but is interrupted by handlers. Mack walks away to explore the pens. 5/9: Mack was introduced to a novel female again today. He greets her with a soft body and wanders around the yard. He does give the female one quick bounce when she solicits play but does not reciprocate otherwise. Summary (1):: Mack understands the cue for "sit". INTAKE BEHAVIOR – DATE OF INTAKE: 5/7/2019 Summary:: Baring teeth, growling, lunging and snapping; No handling performed MEDICAL BEHAVIOR - Date of initial:: 5/8/2019 Summary:: Initially hyperactive, allowed muzzle, escalated to hard stare, growling and head whipping ENERGY LEVEL:: MacK has been observed to exhibit a medium level of energy during his interactions in the care center. IN SHELTER OBSERVATIONS:: 5/10: Mack was laying in his kennel as handler approached. When handler removed the blocker and Mack noticed her, he stood and gave tail wags. As handler unlocked his kennel, She offered Mack a treat, which he took gently. Mack was easily removed from the kennel and walked out with a loose body, showing no reactivity to the barking dogs as he passed them. Once outside, mack relieved himself at the gate and was brought back inside for his interaction. After his interaction was over, Mack walked back to his kennel with the handler, returning to a loose body and showing no reactivity to passing staff members. Mack allowed the handler to pet his head and back on his way back to his kennel, giving tail wags the whole way. Mack was returned to his kennel without any issues. 5/12: Mack allowed very exuberant handling while maintaining a wiggly body. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: New Hope Only Behavior Asilomar: TM - Treatable-Manageable Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner Recommendations comments:: No children (under 13): Due to how uncomfortable MacK is currently with touch and novel stimuli, we feel that an adult-only home would be most beneficial at this time. Place with a New Hope partner: Although MacK has shown improvement with certain handlers in the care center, he has not acclimated well to the kennel environment and has allowed only minimal handling since intake. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home. Potential challenges: : Handling/touch sensitivity,Fearful/potential for defensive aggression,Kennel presence Potential challenges comments:: Handling/touch sensitivity: MacK displays handling sensitivity during his interactions in the care center, observed on multiple occasions. MacK has been observed to escalate to baring his teeth, growling, lunging and snapping toward handlers when attempting to handling him. Please refer to the handout on Handling/touch sensitivity. Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: MacK is very fearful at the care center and has bared teeth, growled, lunged and snapped at handlers when attempts are made to approach him and touch him. He will need a slow approach and time to acclimate to new people. Please see handout on Fearful/potential for defensive aggression. Kennel presence: MacK exhibits kennel presence and has been observed to growl when new people approach his kennel door. Should this behavior arise in a home environment, please refer to the handout on Kennel presence. MEDICAL EXAM NOTES 8/05/2019 DVM Intake Estimated age: 4 years Microchip noted on Intake? These dogs are not displaying concerning behaviors in shelter, and the owner surrender profile (where available) is positive. Some dogs with Level 1 determinations may still have potential challenges, but these are challenges that the behavior team believe can be handled by the majority of adopters. The potential challenges could include no young children, prefers to be the only dog, no dog parks, no cats, kennel presence, basic manners, low level fear and mild anxiety. Level 2 Dogs with Level 2 determinations will be suitable for adopters with some previous dog experience. They will have displayed behavior in the shelter (or have owner reported behavior) that requires some training, or is simply not suitable for an adopter with minimal experience. Dogs with a Level 2 determination may have multiple potential challenges and these may be presenting at differing levels of intensity, so careful consideration of the behavior notes will be required for counselling. Potential challenges at Level 2 include no young children, single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity, mouthiness, fear with potential for escalation, impulse control/arousal, anxiety and separation anxiety. Level 3 Dogs with Level 3 determinations will need to go to homes with experienced adopters, and the ACC strongly suggest that the adopter have prior experience with the challenges described and/or an understanding of the challenge and how to manage it safely in a home environment. In many cases, a trainer will be needed to manage and work on the behaviors safely in a home environment. It is likely that every dog with a Level 3 determination will have a behavior modification or training plan available to them from the behavior department that will go home with the adopters and be made available to the New Hope Partners for their fosters and adopters. Some of the challenges seen at Level 3 are also seen at Level 1 and Level 2, but when seen alongside a Level 3 determination can be assumed to be more severe. The potential challenges for Level 3 determinations include adult only home (no children under the age of 13), single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity with potential for redirection, mouthiness with pressure, potential escalation to threatening behavior, impulse control, arousal, anxiety, separation anxiety, bite history (human), bite history (dog) and bite history (other). New Hope Rescue Only Dog is not publicly adoptable. Prospective fosters or adopters need to fill out applications with New Hope Partner Rescues to save this dog.
