I really wanted to write some scenarios for this one bc its so cute but my hands are full from the event atm DX but have some thoughts.

So, I think this would work best with the characters that are socially awkward or have a desperate need for safety/affection. Some candidates:

Kaeya

For someone who looks socially confident, he's got some unsolved trauma and no secure relationships in his life. (Not after what happened with Diluc. Even if they reconciled, there is still a scar never to be healed again.) So it’s always been a struggle for him to show his true self. When you come around he'll feel conflicted about his emotions.

It’s not that he doesn’t trust you. You're kind and you've always been there for him, - but he can't help the 'what if's' that appear whenever he tries to open up.

What if there's someone better out there? What if he's no longer the cool and fun cavalry captain when he opens up? When will he eventually be rejected or abandoned?

These thoughts swirl inside his head like a parasite, but you've always been the brightest light in his life. He won't be too surprised if one day you'll outshine the shadows of his past.

It's somewhere in the evening when you drop by his office. Nothing spectacular happened that day, you simply wanted to check up on him.

And you're glad you did. Piles of unfinished paperwork lay on his desk and while he tries to hide it, exhaustion peeks through his smile. He’s always been one to downplay his emotions.

With your own smile you walk over to Kaeya. His hair falls in front of his eyepatch and you gently brush some strands away. You've always had the need to be close to people, something Kaeya never seems to mind, and so you wrap your arms around him as he sits down in his office chair.

His body freezes in place when the words leave your lips. 'I'm proud of you, Kaeya.' - something he hadn't heard in forever. Kaeya forces himself to bite down any emotion that came with it. He didn't want to be a burden, to be anything else than someone fun to be around.

But you somehow seemed to catch up on his silent wishes. You always did.

He wished he had the courage to tell you how much it means to him when you check up on him after a long day.

For now he'll simply hold onto your affection. Like a child clinging onto their teddybear at night, it's his comfort when the world grows dark.

Childe

Man's been robbed out of his childhood and innocence. At age 14 he was forced to kill or be killed, trained until he formed the Foul Legacy to survive in the abyss. And when he finally submerged from that pit he got sent away to the Fatui because his family couldn't handle him anymore.

Childe is no saint. But when you have that adorable frown on your face as you scold him for his injuries, he feels a bit more 'normal'.

In the back of Childe's mind, he's always convinced that people need ulterior motives to be kind. Perhaps it's because he's surrounded by the fatui, harbingers - the most dangerous persons on Teyvat and has seen several abyssal creatures. No one is kind. 

Either way, he can't stop or deny the dark thoughts that seem to pop up at the most unconventional moments.

He lifts his arm up, giving you access to the cut he'd gotten in battle. Your smaller hands are moving around too quick for his liking, bandaging him and cleaning his wounds with unnecessarily fragility. Under any other circumstance, he'd shrug the wound off and continue the day without any more care.

You're talking. It's a soothing noise to him. He doesn't really hear what you're rambling about, though. He's trying to focus but his mind is in shambles.

You're so gentle. What if he'll snap one day? Will you forgive him? What if the abyss finds you?

Somewhere in the process of thinking he grabbed your hand. He only realized so when you gently squeezed back in his hold. “Are you okay? If it hurts please tell me.” Your gentle gaze meets his blank one.

His hair shakes along with his head. “I'm alright.”

For now, he had no witty comeback. He'd be silent, enjoying this moment of torture as you finally give him what he's lost at 14 years old; care and affection

"the worst thing the marauders fandom has done to me is make me a staunch supporter of canon" so true lmao!! Yeah, "we hate the author so we are ignoring canon" is not the flex they think it is. A lot of us are still here because we grew up with these characters and we've grappled with how to move forward engaging (or not) and consuming (or not) fandom related things; we've long since discussed/acknowledged the problematic parts of the books and the author and are mindful of that as creators. Besides that, I've always felt that the Marauders fandom pulled away from the author years and years ago because we clearly love these characters more than she ever did and you would see that in the discussions, metas, fan works, etc.

But you're not saying fuck you to an author by riding the coattails of a still massively popular fandom, making the characters something brand new, and using the clout to get your shit read. It's like plugging your ears and repeatedly saying, "la la la la la! Nothing problematic here" instead of learning to be critical of media. Then add in the fact that their fav lil blorbos ARE actually problematic characters and it becomes clear that there's a disconnect and a widespread lack of critical thinking here.

Probably keep it vague, imo, if you talk about the call out's contents. Like just don't go into specifics. The thing about call outs is that if they're incorrect or poorly made, then we have misinformation being promoted here. That does not help the victims involved with the call out.

Not to mention if there's irl abuse involving multiple parties, there should be actual evidence that accompanies these explicit mentions. Just so people can't go 'oh it was a rumor on a worthless kinnie blog, it's not REAL abuse that happened just kinnie drama'. You know what I mean?

2022 is almost here, so I want to talk about a few things. Cartoon things that is. 2021 had some of the best Disney Cartoon episodes I have seen. Watching these great Cartoons has allowed my blog to grow a little, as well as get some pretty nice mutuals during this year.

I was sad when the Ducktales reboot ended early this year. It had some pretty good final episodes but the best was definitely the final one "The Last Adventure". With this show being centered by the theme of family, it had some of the most heartwarming and heartbreaking plot twist and character revelations of any cartoon finale I've ever seen. Before officially becoming a part of the Amphibia and Owl House Fandom, all I had to go on was Ducktales. I was quite a nice show, and I hope it's watched and enjoyed for years to come.

Thankfully I had this cute and often times dark Frog Show to love as soon as Ducktales ended. Season 2b definitely had a lot of heart and drama more so than than the rest of the series so far. Anne's growth as a person is fleshed out, Sasha starts doubting on what she truly wants, and Marcy gets a more prominent role in episodes featuring her while getting to know her inner works just a little bit more, while at the same time not revealing too much about her intentions. And the reason for Sprig and Polly's Parents absence in the series is finally explained.

The unexpected last minute delay of "True Colors" on May 2nd was unfortunate, but Disney leaking the whole episode on iTunes without Matt and crew's permission the next day was disrespectful.

Unfortunately, I did watch the leaks on YouTube. But I didn't go to Twitter or Tumblr before hand, so I did not know that this happened without Matt and crew's approval and neither did the channel I watched it on, who hid the whole episode and other spoilers out of public sight after realizing.

Don't worry, I did not post any "True Colors" spoilers during the delayment from May 2nd-May 22nd. No matter how much I want to post or talk about the events of my favorite cartoons, I would never disrespect Matt, Dana, or any other creator and the crews of my favorite shows intentionally like others have. So I've learned my lesson about unfortunate Cartoon events like these, always check Twitter and Tumblr if suddenly delayed episodes get leaked soon after.

Anyways "True Colors" was phenomenal and one of the most well written, emotional, plot twisting, and tragic Season finales I have seen. It definitely deserves to get that Annie Award next year. The creators deserved much better than this.

During Season 2, I definitely became a Marcy Wu Kinnie during the course of this season. She's smart, cute, sweet, quirky, loveable, and relatable, but sadly the most tragic hero of this story. And seeing her get stabbed in True Colors broke me, and though seeing her alive in a healing tank in the official release did make me feel better. It still took me time to emotionally recover. After everything she's going through, she definitely deserves better.

While Season 3a is doing good with keeping the the shows usual lighthearted demeanor, while at the same time dealing with the aftermath of the events of "True Colors". I'm happy that Anne is back home with her Parents, and the Boonchuys coming to accept their daughters surrogate frog family as a part of theirs is something that is truly wholesome.

The Season is showing us an amazing representation of The Boonchuys Thai heritage. The episode "Temple Frogs" is one of my favorites cause it shows us a lot of Thai representation in sports, language, foods, traditions, and people. Most importantly it shows us the importance of community and family as Anne intentionally found Temple Day boarish until she realizes how good she had it during her absence. Especially since that no other Earth characters not even Mr and Mrs Boonchuy have asked about Sasha and Marcy's fate and whereabouts even once suggests that they didn't have it they didn't have it as good as Anne did.

While the show is still using the shows usual lighthearted demeanor, but Anne's demeanor is noticeably different than it was in the previous season. While she has shown how much more responsible she has become since season 1, but it seems that her emotions have become more repressed as pointed out by a post by @pyroclastic727 did a while ago. With her two childhood best friends and King Andrias betraying her, seeing her surrogate frog brother almost plummet to his death, the big reveal of her crazy blue powers, seeing one of her friends get stabbed along with not actually knowing that she's alive or not, and not helping that she has to find a way to get back to Amphibia, keep the Plantars from being disected, save her best friends, and stop King Andrias from invading Earth. She did show some genuine emotions in "The New Normal" cause it was when she finally returned home and reunites with her family. While the trauma of the backstabs did show in "Fight at the Museum", most of the episodes of this season do seem a bit bizarre from Anne's point of view. I imagine with all of that trauma and responsibility she has on her shoulders she'll probably finally crack in Season 3b, and maybe get a betrayal moment as well.

While we didn't get much Sasha Screentime in Season 3a, she's definitely being more open and realistic of her emotions in the aftermath of "True Colors" than Anne if you ask me. She finally sees the error of her ways, and she's finally wants to actually be a better friend to her girls and becomes Wartwood's protecter. I would love to see more Protecter Sasha and her redemption arc next year. I'm also looking forward to seeing what her homelife was like to her perspective. We only know that her parents could possibly be divorced or estranged which could at least explain (but not excuse) her past behavior.

But sadly poor Marcy's luck goes from bad to worse in "Olivia and Yunan". While she is awakened from her coma, she still gets possessed by The Core in possibly the shows most dark and violent scenes it has ever show us. And this is the same sweet girl who trusted her King but got literally and metaphorically backstabbed by him, all while feeling guilty for betraying her friends. But this episode did show someone truly cared about Marcy after she arrived in Amphibia, and that someone is Lady Olivia. The flashback scene and Lady Olivia still trusts Marcy even after the events of "True Colors" shows that their bond was genuine. And even Yunan grows to trust Marcy as well. Olivia being such a motherly figure towards Marcy means everything to me, and I'm hoping this will become more plot relevant in Season 3b. And look forward to seeing what Marcy's homelife was like as well, cause her lack of mentions of her family and the fact that she had send herself in another world and still doesn't miss them after almost half a year is not leaving a good impression. Hopefully she will be forgiven and get the happiness and love she truly deserves.

So far Amphibia's my favorite Disney Cartoon of this year, and while Season 3 has some quirks, I'm sure that some of those quirks will be resolved in Season 3b. Of course I will miss it greatly when it ends next year. But I'm looking forward to seeing what is in store for our Main Characters (if it's a good ending for them) and the shows final outcome. As well as seeing if some of the theories I've seen so far are either right or wrong.

While Amphibia maybe my favorite Disney Cartoon of this year, another favorite of mines this year goes to The Owl House. The show's Creator Dana Terrace definitely knows how to surprise fans with each new episode, so much so that it ends up Trending on Twitter after each new episode. The LGBTQ+ representation in this series is absolutely amazing. Having Luz as Disney's first bisexual main character along with her Girlfriend Amity. The journey of these two characters growing relationship is absolutely amazing. Especially Amity's journey of self improvement since Season 1, from a self centered and vain rich girl to a selfless and caring girlfriend is one of most amazing character developments I've ever seen. Luz herself has grown quite a bit since Season 1 as well, while often times questioning if her decision to stay at the Boiling Isles was a good one while on her journey to get back to her world. I very much appreciate that this show is also the first Kids Cartoon to also introduce us to official Non-Binary Characters like Raine Whispers. I love Raine, and I hope things turn out okay for them and Eda eventually. A show as amazing and accepting as The Owl House deserves so much love and respect.

Eda and King's self improvement is getting more interesting as well. The episode "Echos of the Past" is tied with "Yesterday's Lie" to being my favorite Season 2a episodes. King gets his whole world view turned upside down when Eda reveals his true origins, and is now going through a very real existential crisis. And wanting answers for who he is and where his dad is at. King changing his last name to Clawthorne really shows how he and Eda have become. She was the one who raised him for all of the years they were together, so King officially becoming Eda's adopted son was a very wholesome moment indeed. Eda's emotional journey to self acceptance from reconnecting with her Mother, Sister, Raine Whispers, and accepting the Owl Beast as a part of her is a great moral character for those who have disabilities as well. "Yesterday's Lie" is also one of my favorites because while Luz did mature and make friends while in the Boiling Isles, but she realizes that she took her homelife for granted for a fantasy adventure, could've made friends if she went to Summer Camp after all as proven by Vee. And it shows that Luz and Camila's Mother-Daughter relationships is genuine, but they need to learn that the quirks about each other is something that they can grow from but also accept. It's going to be very interesting to see where Luz's journey back home is going to go in Season 2b for sure.

I even love the news characters like Hunter and Vee, they both have such tragic backstorys. Hunter reminds me of Zuko from Avatar the Last Airbender in almost every way. So that's to say that he might be getting some redemption arc next year, but we'll see what Dana decides. As for Vee, I love her. I stan her. Compared to her backstory, she may have been right to call Luz out for taking what she had for granted. After "Yesterday's Lie" I consider her an official Noceda. Hopefully Camila and Luz will do the same thing.

However, despite it's amazing success and loveable moral characters it certainly isn't getting the respect it deserves from Disney by not getting a full Season 3. And not only that, the LGBTQ moments are either being edited out, dubbed different, or completely stopped dubbing the show in other countries that still have laws on these kinds of things. That's just disrespectful to this amazing show, these countries really need to get in with the times. I don't think I've seen a great show like this one get so much disrespect like this. I don't like it. Not at all. The Owl House and the crew that worked so hard to make this amazing show deserve so much better than this.

Well Season 2b should be here in about a few months by now, we'll see where Luz's journey back home takes her. King's journey to find his long lost dad. The Day of Unity will probably begin later in the Season. What the Titans plans for Hunter are (definitely nothing good for sure). And what else Season 2b has in store for us. Maybe even more Lilith and Hooty moments as well. Hooty played a good part in Lilith's self improvement after all.

I don't have too much to say about The Ghost and Molly McGee, but I surprisingly warmed up to this show quicker than I thought. I normally don't warm up to new shows this quickly so this surprises me. I love the shows characters and the it's supernatural slice of life twist. And I like the songs in each new episodes. I especially like the song "Two Best Friends" in the episode "Friend-Off". That song is still stuck in my head. I might start blogging about this show more often if/when I get even more interested in it.

Well that's it for my long 2021 Cartoon Ramblings post. All 4 of these Cartoons did good this year, and aside from Ducktales I'm looking forward to seeing what 2022 has in store for these 3 Wonderful Cartoons, and their Characters. Hopefully Marcy gets a good ending and the love and happiness she deserves.

(obvs not the typical rage player you see, more like the nuance we were discussing). and aimsey as a life player?

oooo void beep would be suuper cool :oc rage too, he is very fucking stubborn and does have outbursts rather often (also rage players in canon usually have connections to magic, and then the homestuck rage players all had religious themes so, god stuff). meanwhile void fits beeps heavy "this is all irrelevant and you could never understand any of this", and his own belief that even what he does just doesnt matter. personality under a veil (not necessarily a facade), fundamental inability to understand and truly perceive it all.

id say he doesnt fit rage enough, if only because rage players are fundamentally about survival instinct, and, well. beeps already dead, and he seems to be perfectly fine with the fact that one day he just wont exist at all. hes not scared, though he is easily pissed off, but in the end he just sort of likes messing with shit and being in control. lil dickhead (affectionate)

honestly, since he almost fits rage but not quite, he.. almost acts like a prince of hope (unfortunate eridan kinnie). destroying beliefs and asserting his reality as the Absolute Truth, dragging others like aimsey into his delusions and being in a situation where aimseys putting her faith into him even though hes not a good person because she feels the need to believe in him and connect with him, because she genuinely feels like hes the only friend they have left, and because aimsey wants desperately to believe in what beep is trying to show her, desperately wants to understand. he shuts down things he believes to be false, to the point where he can make them false by simply destroying the problem.

hes a force of outward destruction, destroying what he believes to be flaws in others. theyre heavily defensive, putting everyone beneath them, believing hes the one thats doing it Right, and ultimately, he believes its his right to control things. he doesnt trust anyone, he reacts to any fear he may have with anger, lashes out, and the "TELL. NO ONE" scene almost showcases beep shattering and hurting aimsey before he steps back and give a quick "sorry!". his arc seems to be leading up to him realizing he can care about aimsey, that he can trust her to believe him and in him, and he seems to be dealing with the concept of trusting aimsey with his beliefs

hes definitely not a general hope player, but specifically prince of hope could fit. onto possible void class combos, with, first, the notable fact that we dont know what kind of person beep may have been in the past, other than that he was destructive. we know about some events in his past, and how he feels about them (kinda), but generally, this means hes very versatile and has many class possibilities, depending on how we want to interpret what we do know.

for example, he could be a maid whose now in the apeshit stage, stubborn and repressive. its entirely possible he got so tired of listening to the other spirits that he got to the unhealthy stage, exploded, and now without anything stopping him, hes doing whatever the fuck he wants, because hes decided none of it matters, that its all irrelevant and he doesnt have to care because its his fucking universe and no one can stop him from playing god. he spends his time doing menial things, because to him, its all equally unimportant, so why not waste time? he cuts down unnecessary tasks, weeds out what he finds useless, etc etc. basically, he should still be independent, but he needs to be brought back down to earth (metaphorically), because hes kind of burnt himself out and is now fucking with things because he feels none of it matters anyways

sylph of void sort of works too, mainly his meddling and tendency to shut down anything that could reveal something he doesnt want revealed, as well as shutting down others viewpoints and he covers up shit whenever he wants. his motivations are, really, mostly unknown to us, other than that he seems to think this is fun. otherwise, he also has a tendency to try and fix things he thinks needs fixing (like getting rid of fairies and space creatures), and will often try to fix mistakes he sees in mortals. however, slyphs are ultimately healers, and beep just. is not a healer, and he doesnt necessarily invite creation of void in any way, since void isnt really destruction of anything, and what he does invite is destruction of things. hes also just too active to be a slyph

so, with the previous prince assession, theres also the possibility of him being a prince of light, which would mean he would act more like a void player. hed destroy light with light, destroy the importance of information with information. they strip away the importance of things, uses plain fact to force the perception that nothings really important. he dismisses the importance of things, purposefully acts ignorant to draw away from what he knows, destroys knowledge itself from a power standpoint (wiping aimseys memory), and in extreme cases, can physically destroy anything in his way, or assert over and over that what he said/did isnt real, that nothings true or important other than what hes saying. again, little shit. if i had to make up my mind, i think prince of light fits the most

as for aimsey, i think life does fit him really well, shes definitely got the similar "girl next door" kind of vibes, while still being really interesting in her own right. she definitely starts out as a typical fictional life player, enthusiastic, energetic, genuine, wanting to effect the world. shes a normal girl (and this isnt an insult, rather, her being so normal ties the magical themes of the bear smp together really well, and its a perfect way to use a life player, make them be a catalyst for both the normal life player and eccentric others to shine). however, as she struggles with losing trust in bear and not being treated well, not having anyone that cares about them specifically, the energy starts to falter, but comes back when they feel the need to be rebellious. notably, while aspects arent super literal, she contrasts beep so much in just how alive she is, which fits her being a life player rather well. except, as i said, aspects arent literal, which means aimsey being a life player translates to her showing what life means in a metaphorical sense.

life is about agency. its about what you do, your ability to do so, its about asserting your will. not what drives you, but simply you doing at all. interesting enough, life players can be hard to pin down because life is about desire and agency, while the players class defines their ideology. life players can become obsessed with an idea that they need to do something, that they need to change how systems work, and often can cloak their want to fulfill their individual desires as altruistic want to fulfill others needs and desires (i.e., aimsey wants a friend and someone who pays attention to her and is genuine towards her, she feels like shes found that in beep, and as such starts to cloak her want to be his friend as aimsey wanting to help beep rather than aimsey themself).

as for said class.. this was, hard. because of how heavily influenced life is by the class its paired with, and because aimseys arc right now is trying to deal with feeling like shes too much and unneeded, it means that i have to really consider how that connects with which classes struggles. so, i ended up with sylph. aimsey is a creator, and she tries to heal as well. "allowing creation/healing of life or inviting creation/healing through life". from a literal standpoint, she tries to help bear heal by trying to get him to open up, to live, to make friends and interact with people. this could almost seem like a blood player move, but while a lot of aimseys arc is about bonds and relationships, shes not really a strong connecter or leader, shes just good at inspiring others to be, to her own detriment.

also notably, unhealthy sylphs crave, whether craving more of their own aspect, or craving another aspect when they feel theirs is not enough. aimsey talks a lot about how she grew up doing things by her lonesome, and now that she feels like people are moving on without her, she may be craving blood (that sounds so awful out of context). she wants attachments, wants to be the person that brings everyone together, but.. she isnt, not in a way thats appreciated. and due to her insecurities, she sees this as a flaw within himself, and as something to fix. so, she latches onto beep, and desperately tries to have as much of an effect on their life as they do on hers. like life players in general, sylphs try to solve their problems under the guise of helping someone else with theirs. currently, aimsey seems to be trying to find what she needs to do, because when she tried to do what she thought she needed to do, she (from her perspective) failed, so now shes trying to make up for her perceived failure within herself by trying to help herself through helping beep. i would think into it even more but i think its probably best to just leave it here KEKW

I used to be a mod on Dangan-Happy

This is going to be a very long post because there’s so much that happened, and I felt the need to expose the truths hidden behind the positivity everyone loves so much. Everything seems so fine and dandy on the surface, so consider this a callout post. Thank you to my friends that helped me create this.

For context:  I was Mod Chiaki, Mod Rantaro, and Mod Shuichi after a friend of mine left the blog. I would always sign my posts with emojis.

I was in a discord server made by the creators of Dangan-Happy before the blog was created. Both creators run another danganronpa blog focused on writing imagines, and I joined their server because I loved their writing and was interested in making new friends, and that I did.

When Dangan-Happy was created back in July and a link was posted in the discord server for mod applications, I applied for Chiaki immediately. I enjoyed her a lot as a character, and I knew I’d be good at emulating how she spoke through writing, and I got to make people happy while doing so. Though, before this, I had never been apart of a blog like this, I just had this blog, one that I’ve muddled in since 2013, so it was a brand new experience for me. 

I was accepted and after a couple of other people who were accepted as mods started joining the monomonomayhem discord server, the two admins created a separate section in the discord server for the mods of Dangan-Happy to communicate, away from the eyes of the fans of their original imagines blog. Everything started out fine, seeing as we barely had any asks coming in, as expected, and I became good friends with a couple of the mods that joined us. 

Around the middle of August was when things started going down hill. I became really good friends with our first Mod Izuru, Beep, and we were discussing our grievances we had with the blog, which wasn’t much honestly, such as how mod applications worked or how some of the asks were behind or just how we didn’t think some of the mods wrote their characters well, and it was all in moderation, we were just having a chat between friends, it was nothing serious and only stayed between us. None of the other mods really had any idea what was going on either, we were all just thrown to the wind.

Then, the two admins came up with a rule that no one was allowed to post asks unless either of them specified that they were ready to be sent, which became sort of a problem, seeing as they weren’t always online. Beep and I were usually the ones, at least in the beginning stages of this blog, who tried our hardest to make sure the asks got done and got posted, outside of the two admins. It felt sort of like a punch to the face, to be quite honest, but there was no animosity held toward the two admins. We still tried our hardest to help out, but the list of mods was growing and our list of asks were growing as well, we became buried underneath the voices of the newer, inexperienced mods.

Beep was a sort of hard person to get along with, and as our list of mods on Dangan-Happy grew, they had a harder time getting along with people or trusting people, so they created a group chat to talk and hang out with the people from the server that they trusted, and this eventually grew into a server, one that was not created by either of us but created by Dangan-Happy’s Mod Akane. Collectively, we agreed that the server that was created was a sort of “safe-haven” for Beep, so we only added people to the server that they trusted. We started a “rebellion” of sorts, because what we wanted was change in the way the blog was run, though we never actually did anything, it was more of a mindset. We never had any hatred toward the admins or any of the other mods.

About a week or two passed and one of the admins, Mod Kaz, updated all the mods on their current irl situation. Beep and I then told Mod Kaz that if they needed any sort of help with the blog, they should ask for it, and that the older mods that have been on the blog longer should be allowed to help more with it, and he agreed, making a new role in our discord server titled “Mid Mod,” who’s individual roles were broke up into specifics, such as “tag checking,” “grammar checking,” “overall checking,” etc. All was fine and going well, and I’ll restate, Beep and I held 0 hatred or animosity for Mod Kaz, we were only concerned for his well-being and the well-being of the blog.

Then, on September 9th, the old Mod Byakuya/Ibuki/Nagito left the blog. That being said, it was well known that Beep was an “unwilling Nagito kinnie,” and they would say all the time that they regretted not taking Nagito when they had the chance. They even covered for Mod Nagito a couple times beforehand. They were working on a Nagito mod application, when a new person joined the server, the new Mod Nagito. This alerted many of us in our little “rebellion” server. At that moment, Beep, the old Mod Miu, Mod Akane, one of the other mods, and I were in a voice chat in that server. We were just hanging out, not really doing anything in particular, when we were just all caught off guard. It hadn’t been even an hour when the mod applications were opened for a new mod Nagito. 

This topic was a hot debate between the admins and the handful of us. We were told the mod applications were “first come, first serve,” which is still just preposterous in my opinion, and that it didn’t matter how well someone was at writing a character. If they submitted the application first, then they were that mod, and no amount of refutation could convince them otherwise. This angered Beep because they were working so hard on the application, and none of it mattered. There is no anger or hatred toward the new Mod Nagito, I personally think they’re pretty good at writing Nagito and I’m glad they were chosen, but the system that the admins had set up showed its true colors. It didn’t care about quality, only quantity and efficiency. 

Beep’s anger was understood by me and the others in the voice chat with them, but that empathy did not carry over to the other mods and admins in the discord server, who decided to start their own group chat discussing whether or not to ask Beep (and I, for some reason) to leave the blog. The reason I, and the others in the voice chat, know about this conversation is because they added Mod Akane to the said group chat. Mod Akane, who was the one who created the “rebellion” server we were voice chatting in. 

At this point, we five: Beep, the old Mod Miu, Mod Akane, one of the other mods, and I, had all agreed that there were systemic flaws in the blog we were apart of, and were all relatively upset with the recent events. It was rage-inducing, watching people we worked with talking about how “mean” our friend was, even though they’ve previously stated publicly in the server and apologized for any sort of misunderstandings. I even re-read all the screenshots that were sent to us by Mod Akane before writing this (October 17th,) and it got me really angry again. During this, I talked privately with Mod Kaz about Beep’s behavior, trying my hardest to smooth things over, and again, I never once came to hate him, even after all this.

Then, finally, Beep left the blog, extremely angry after reading the group chat messages relayed by Mod Akane. Even after all of these events had transpired, the rest of us still wanted to work on the blog because we enjoyed roleplaying as these characters and enjoyed giving people advice and making them happy. Sometimes, working with some of the mods was trying, but that’s just how it is when you have such a large group of people working together. Not everyone is going to get along, some people aren’t going to like some of the others, and it’s not something people can just force. The best thing to do in a scenario such as this, at least this is what I did, is to lay low and just do your job, which I did indeed enjoy doing, despite what some of the other mods might have thought.

In fact, that’s what all 4 four of us agreed to do, just lay low and do our jobs as advice-giving roleplayers. Mod Akane was given an important role in the server, where she would stay on all of our butts about getting our asks done in a timely manner. And, that’s all fine and dandy, but she explicitly stated that she wanted to watch the blog crash and burn (along with the rest of us) after the events that transpired the day before. None of us, aside from Beep, had any sort of actual hatred toward the admins and mods themselves, only what everything was becoming.

We were all fine with this arrangement for the most part. We even, all five of us, created a separate blog, where we could roleplay as characters that we wanted to, and it was quite fun. We were all planning on leaving Dangan-Happy after it got up and running, but it never quite took off. We were all busy with our lives, and subsequently, toward the beginning of this month, October, Mod Akane had a falling out with our friend group. We both made separate servers and invited who we wanted and that should’ve been that, fair enough right?

The very next day, Mod Kaz direct messaged me and told me I was kicked from the blog. The reasoning given was that he didn’t want to work with people that hated him. To quote him: “I'm sorry to say this Tea. I had a great time working with you but due to some unforeseen circumstances and some review of your behavior I must ask you to leave the blog. I'm not going to keep fighting to run a positivity blog with someone that holds so much contempt for me. Leave the blog, I'm not going to argue or budge on this.”

In response, I told him fine. I’ve literally never held any contempt for this man, but he really deeply thinks that I’ve hated him this entire time, no matter how much we bonded over similar interests. That’s the part that bothered me at first, being kicked off a blog I loved writing for over someone thinking I hated them. Then, the bit about “review of your behavior” caught my eye. I told him I had barely said a word in the server purposefully so that I don’t hurt other people with my perceived “negativity.”

Then, I realized the problem might actually lie with the “unforeseen circumstances” portion of their message. A day earlier, there was a falling out between Mod Akane and the rest of my friends. I connected the dots, Mod Akane must’ve told Mod Kaz about everything that happened, about my friends and I getting upset over things happening surrounding the blog. It just makes no sense otherwise. I personally believed I wasn’t a problem at all concerning the blog. I tried my hardest to get my asks done on time and in character. I was good at what I did, and I loved doing what I did. And, I was outcasted, thrown out for seemingly no valid reason.

I’m not asking you to harass people, I’m just trying to explain my side in a way that these mods will see and understand. I’m just angry and confused, and I want a real, genuine answer, because I never hated Mod Kaz ever up until this bullshit. Sure, I was upset at the way things were run, I was upset with some decisions that were made, but I never hated him. And, if Mod Akane told him otherwise, I have the screenshots to prove she did the exact same as me.

This post is far from perfect, I apologize. My friends and I are just very upset and hurt. We put so much time and effort into a blog we cared for, and it turns out it’s all bullshit behind the scenes. A fake environment ruled by a toxic positivity, if you have different opinions in the way things are run, you just get removed. It’s fucked.

What Is A Protagonist?

I am not bringing up this question because I think the source used was incorrect. However, the statement that "protagonists ask questions and antagonists make arguments" is an oversimplification of both roles. And I am going to explain why.

The trope of protagonist vs antagonist is an age old theme which has been used countless times throughout storytelling's history in books, plays, films, and story-driven video games. As such, the definition of both roles has continued to flourish and evolve over time. It is no longer good vs evil.

While @diregentleman used books written by, I assume, published writers for his argument, I am going to use Creative Writing and Literary Experts from a Masterclass article.

In the article, a protagonist is described as this:

"In storytelling, a protagonist is the main character or principal character or group of characters in a story."

More than one character is capable of being an antagonist in this story. Given that demons are meant to be redeemed, fitting the theme of the story, it is fair to surmise that all (or the majority of) the demons surrounding Charlie are protagonists in some form.

The article goes on to state that the protagonist's goals reflect the overall story goals and the plot moves forward based on their decisions.

This being said, Charlie's overall goal reflects the premise of the story, that being that Hazbin Hotel is a story about redemption. This is a goal that Angel Dust does not have.

In DireGentleman's video, he claims Angel Dust joined the Happy Hotel with the intention of being redeemed, albeit skeptical whether it could actually be done. This is actually inaccurate, and we see this in both the pilot and the comic.

Angel does display skepticism straight from the gate, but when they explain their reason for approaching him (that no one else has agreed), he makes this face:

Does that really look like someone who believes redemption may be possible? But for further establishment of just how little Angel believes redemption is possible, Angel also laughs them off and calls their goal "lame."

The only reason Angel agrees to Charlie and Vaggie's proposition is because it is a rent free place to stay. He admits as much just a bit further into the comic. By the end, Angel says "Redemption, it's silly. Huh, Nuggs."

The tone we are led to believe he uses is one of contemplation and relief. Relief due likely to the fact that there is some light at the end of the tunnel to the shit situation he was in.

This is just comic evidence, of course. If we go to the pilot, when Angel is engaging in the turf war with Cherri Bomb, he explains that he is using Charlie and Vaggie for free rent. Further exemplified when he later asks if participating in the turf war meant he didn't have a free room anymore. But also in his conversation with Cherri, he also admits that he is still taking some drugs behind Charlie and Vaggie's back. Something that we see immediately toward the opening of the pilot when Angel buys a bag of Angel Dust.

Character Dynamic

I cannot emphasize this enough, the Hunicast is NOT a good exemplifier for character dynamics. Every single "character interaction" is based on fanon, not canon, and they are prompted by the fans themselves. Only Viv really knows exactly how Angel and Alastor would canonically interact. It is no better a source for character dynamic than the wiki is for accurate information. IE, some things may hold true, but the majority of it is not and it is better just to wait until it is confirmed canon.

Moving on...

There is a lot of focus on Valentino as a main antagonist, based entirely too much on the hope that Angel will be the main protagonist. And this is really just disingenuous when you consider there are two other implied Overlords, as well as several other sources of strife within the world of Hazbin Hotel.

An Antagonist is someone working against the protagonist to prevent them from achieving their goal. Alastor would not meet this criteria, as he is a self-professed observer and conflict creator. But he is not a main antagonist. Someone working against the goal of redemption could be anyone from the Overlords (which, far as we know, would include Valentino), Lucifer, or even Heaven itself.

Where antagonists come into play, quoting Masterlist once again, I think these two types of antagonists were overlooked:

A conflict-creator. An antagonist doesn’t have to be a “bad guy.” Sometimes, they’re just a character whose goals are in direct conflict with the protagonist’s, like Mr. Darcy in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice or Javert working to arrest Valjean in Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables.

The protagonist themselves. The main source of conflict in a story can be from within the protagonist themselves—their shortcomings or insecurities are keeping them from reaching their goal. A prime example of this is Holden Caulfield in J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye. While Holden comes into conflict with many characters in the novel, the ever-present antagonizing conflict comes from his own obsessions and insecurities.

Now, why did I bring up these two types? Well! I'm glad you asked! You see, where conflict-creator comes into play would line up more with Alastor. He isn't really the bad guy, but he does create some friction where his goals meet with Charlie's. He is a professed observer, but it is strongly believed that there is something else, another goal, that he has omitted.

As for the Protagonist themselves, this lines up pretty strongly where Charlie is concerned. You could argue that it does for Angel too, but Angel's goal, as mentioned before, is not Redemption. That goal is Charlie's, and hers alone. Yet it is her naivety, inexperience, and insecurities surrounding her failures as a princess that are holding her back from achieving her goal. Going by this, not only do we have multiple protagonists, but we also have multiple antagonists.

"So far, no one else's past is wrought with tension like Angel Dust's."

Even if this wasn't a sweeping, dismissive statement made with limited information, it would still be incorrect. Why? Because each and every character in Hazbin Hotel is going to have their own story to tell. Stories that will each be as relatable and wrought with tension, the only reason we know Angel so extensively is because Viv put the most work into him. She has admitted that Alastor and Angel were characters she wrote based on past dealings and experiences she had. Let those implications sink in a bit.

Now, to further this, people don't need to empathize with a character to like them. They can sympathize as well, even if they personally cannot relate to the emotions the character is feeling.

And where Angel is concerned, he is not addicted to drugs. Angel has used drugs to escape the pain of his trauma. His response in the pilot to having his drugs stolen from him is not one of a typical addict. Which leads us to believe the drugs are simply a coping mechanism more than they are an addiction.

Real Audience for Hazbin is 12 to 16

I would really fucking hope you are joking. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that this was said by someone who isn't a parent. While yes, kids will be sneaky and watch or play things they're not supposed to, a show with drug use/abuse, rape, sex, physical/mental/emotional abuse, and suicide is as much for them as Rick and Morty.

Further, it is not just these themes that make the show for adults. It is the format of the storytelling. Yes, you can complain about what you consider issues with the pilot. But at the end of the day, it did it's job. It established the story premise, introduced important characters (Fat Nuggets does not fall in that category, calm down), gave a basic understanding of their relationships to each other, and get the audience interested in continuing the series. Considering the views for the pilot and the resulting disproportionate growth of the fandom, I would say it did that in spades.

Hazbin Hotel is not Steven Universe. I cannot say this enough times, and the reason I cannot is because I cannot tell you how many times I have come into contact with the underage side of the fandom griping about lack of lore, griping about lack of production information, and overall being exceedingly impatient. At the risk of sounding like an old miser, the underage side of the fandom has never had to wait for additions to a series. Like waiting for Homestuck updates, or the new release of a Harry Potter novel. They have had a steady schedule of content, along with shows that give exposition dumps "in the first 3 minutes."

So don't look at Hazbin Hotel through the lens of kids' show fandoms. It has so much more to offer than that.

Alastor vs Valentino

No, this is not about whether Alastor could beat up Valentino. In the video, DireGentleman pulled a huge pet peeve of mine and lumped Valentino and Alastor together, labeling them both "monsters." Which is opening a huge can of worms for me. So, I will give a brief summary of why that is wrong, and provide a link to one of my other posts for deeper diving.

So, there is a reason why Valentino is more hated than Alastor is. Lumping them together is a mistake.

Valentino is a pimp that abuses and manipulates his victims through intimidation and (implied through) some kind of addiction to the red smoke (whether that is real or symbolism is yet unknown). He takes who and what he wants, be damned the consequences or who gets hurt. He is incredibly self-serving, with no consideration for anyone else. He uses people like pawns, and when those pawns refuse to do what he wants, what does he do? He forces them to do it anyway.

By comparison, while Alastor may use his people like pawns, he also has more consideration for them and doesn't abuse them (far as we can tell). The evidence to support this is the attitude of those serving under Valentino vs those under Alastor. Niffty and Husk both seem to not have a problem with Alastor, and where Husk is concerned it seems that his attitude toward Alastor is their typical banter. But definitely nothing that displays abuse. In fact, when Husker is hesitant or even refusing to do as Alastor asks, Alastor doesn't force Husker. He offers payment in the form of something Husker genuinely likes.

Now, while some might argue this is also manipulating through addiction, one could look at it this way. However, Alastor didn't make Husker an alcoholic. That was Husker's vice to begin with, Alastor simply has no intention of fixing it. After all, Alastor has said he doesn't think anything can change a sinner.

Parents don't 'get' Charlie = Disney Princess

Once again, we fall upon the slippery slope of disinformed statements. While the joke was made that the princess of hell expresses herself best through song, parent issues do not equate to being something that is relatable primarily or only to kids and teens. It's kind of offensive that there is a sort or implication in this statement that adults don't have issues like insecurities surrounding their own failures, or parent issues like what Charlie has or worse. And once again, we fall into the empathize vs sympathize realm and I once again will say that the audience does not need to empathize with the protagonist to make them a good protagonist.

Charlie is a failed princess, her people don't respect her and didn't even prior to her hotel announcement. Yes, she is sheltered and naive. Likely due to how little she was able or allowed to interact with sinners. After all, her ex-boyfriend was from another hellborn family. One that, from what we can surmise, interacts rather frequently with the Magne family.

And it is because of this naivety and inexperience that her method to redeem sinners will not work.

In the video, DireGentleman states that we can pretty much assume that Charlie's redemption methods will work. But her methods, as we see in her song, is to inject demons with meds and take away/burn their vices. She is seeking immediate resolutions to problems that require therapy and a long process that should be making sinners want to change. All Charlie is currently accomplishing is earning the ire and scrutiny of her people. This is why I previously mentioned that Charlie is both protagonist and antagonist, as she is getting in her own way to accomplishing the goal of redemption. And this is where we find that Charlie meets the "starts out being wrong" requirement mentioned in the video as well as "admiring a character for trying."

Charlie is also in a perfect position to be the tour guide for us, the audience, as we observe the metamorphosis of every demon who needs to be redeemed. She is, once again, surrounded by those who need to be redeemed which means we will witness every character arc. This includes Angel, who does not need to be the central focus for us to witness his story.

Finally...

It was stated, or at least implied, that Hazbin Hotel's pilot is no longer relevant. This is a statement that pretty much leaves me puzzled. The only way it would be irrelevant is if Hazbin went in a completely different direction, and we have no reason to believe it will. Vivziepop is still creative director for Hazbin Hotel, and A24 is notorious for giving creators their creative freedom. What A24 is doing is animating, making VA regulations, and ensuring there is an air tight lid kept on the project. Especially given it's popularity in such a short amount of time.

Contrary to what DireGentleman said, Hazbin Hotel will definitely live up to it's hype. Being picked up by A24 will not compromise the show simply because it's not in the same realm of indie production that Helluva Boss is. And it's a bit unfair to Vivziepop to imply as much.

In Conclusion...

Please do a bit more digging in regards to not only the show, but everything surrounding it. Don't lump fanon and canon together and expect them to be equal sources, and please do not claim an obviously adult-audience show is more fit for children and teens.

And lastly, please do more digging to better understand media and storytelling. Reading books is great, but what you were using as the foundation for your arguments were far too simplified and vague,, given the complexity of the protagonist and antagonist roles. Overall, the video just came across as one huge helping of Angel Dust bias with a side of strong dislike for Charlie.

Stop putting “kin for fun” on my dash challenge

Edit: I just want to make it clear that I used the term “kinning” in this post exclusively in reference to those who are misusing otherkin terms. I do not support the usage of “kinning”/kin as a verb.

Otherkin is what you are, not what you do.

Let’s talk about “kinning”. 

Or rather, how “kinning” is an improper term and one of the largest damaging factors to the otherkin/greater Alterhuman community. 

I’m getting incredibly tired of scrolling through blogs of all kinds and finding the exact same “kinnie jokes” polluting my dash. From the biggest content creators to just small mutuals, almost no blogs I’ve seen have been spared from the “trend.”

These pestilential posts range from the usual, seemingly harmless “assign me a kin” ask games, to posts harshly and incredulously mocking the otherkin community, viewing it as a new trend, as a fandom-like warzone of children arguing over face-claims rather than the introspective and well established community that it truly was.

I and several others have received asks and messages essentially telling us that we are “taking a game too seriously” or “gatekeeping kin”. I have been outright told that I have no grounds to correct those who blatantly mangle the already established definitions, since “words change and you can’t stop it”.

The so-called harmless trend of “kinning” has utterly torn the otherkin community askew, only aiding antikin in their efforts. “Kinning for fun” is not harmless in the slightest, nor is it any “better” than true ‘kin.

Those who “kin for fun”, who “don’t seriously believe they are their kintypes”, are not “the normal ones”. They may possibly fit under the greater Alterhuman umbrella (perhaps copinglink or otherhearted), but they are not otherkin, no matter how much they wish to be or pretend to be.

I am not one to point fingers of blame entirely at the inexperienced members of the community; I was in a similar mindset once, of course, when I first started learning about otherkin. I once mistook copinglinks and hearttypes for true kintypes. I mixed up terms and made misled, joking “kin assigns”.

However, while it is okay to make mistakes, it is in no way acceptable for one to mangle the true definitions of an established community to one’s own liking, to twist these words created specifically for the otherkin community. 

By appropriating our terms and masquerading as otherkin for a joke, fake “kinnies”/wishkin directly hinder the ability of genuine otherkin and fictionkin to find canonmates, or otherwise just likeminded folks who take their identities just as seriously. Every time I look at a blog mentioning “kin”, I have to scroll through about pages and endless posts just trying to figure out if they’re just a roleplayer or not. 

Words change, yes, but as many others before me have said, when you tear apart and mock the only words we have to properly explain our identities, you take away the grounds of our community.

This post is beginning to drone on, so I’ll continue with my own experiences in a separate one.

Help I’m still struggling, there were two minutes between those posts and the tumblr one came first. Either that kinnie is the luckiest motherfucker on the face of this planet or I tried to warn the actual Wilbur Soot away from the infertility post and *failed*. Please I can’t handle a timeline where that’s true.

Here are my thoughts.

If a content creator comes to a place notorious for hating on and shunning out creators, they should expect to be bullied. This is doubled when you remember that they interact with people often on twitter, and twitter people want them to interact. With no where else to go to escape actual creators, many people joined tumblr.

Posts have been made on twitter showing the weird parts of tumblr. If any creator wanted to join tumblr after that, they are expecting and acknowledging those posts. Many people warned these blogs about how we would react, and they still kept asks on, and responded to them. If they didn’t want the kinnie blog treatment, they should clarify on their twitter that they are, in fact, real
