D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can't.

I spent quite some time debating whether this question should be considered fandom-specific ... or not. But then I realized there is no canon-pairing in JATP that I dislike. I love Juke; I adore Willex. I can even accept the semi-canon pairings (Lalex, Flynn/Reggie). 

So, I go with my previous/cold/passive fandoms - that would be Souma and Erina from Food Wars!/Shokugeki no Souma. I tried a few times to like them - they were the main canon ship, after all. I'm supposed to enjoy them, right? But damn, those two had ZERO chemistry. 

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

Okay, I do one for JATP and one for my other fandoms. 

JATP: Since Julie and Luke are the only characters that got character development (well, Alex got a smidge, too, but not much), it's a tough decision between those two. I'm inclined to say Luke, though, since his character development made me reevaluate my initial assessment of his character. 

Considering all my fandoms, it's Tsukishima Kei from Haikyu!! His character development moved me to tears.🥹

R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?

You want me to choose?! You want me to choose between Julie & Flynn, Sunset Curve, the Molina family bond, and Julie and her Phantoms?! 😱😭 

I LOVE them all. 

But the Reggie & Ray (and Carlos) friendship has a special place in my heart. It's so funny; it's so heartbreaking. They deserved more bonding time.😭

W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.

A/B/O dynamics, next-gen, characters watching the show ... There's a long list. Oh, and it should go without saying, but any dubious consent sex tropes.

Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren't in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?

Hehe ... there are so many! Nancy Drew, for sure. (I know there's Nancy, I know there's Ace, I know they're in love. That's the plot, right? 🤓)

Then there's Ted Lasso, which I still have to finish. A lot of K-Drama. Percy Jackson, which I'll check out when the Disney show gets released. And so many more.

hi nonny, thanks for the nice words! really appreciated. ♥️ so, you're looking for this grid effect:

you're starting off with two gifs. i'd recommend choosing scenes that are not too close up because otherwise they'll overlap too much and you won't be able to delete enough parts to make the most of this effect.

so, here's my base gif that i just did in black and white with some minor purple brush strokes set to screen:

i then chose my second gif and coloured it with a purple gradient map and a purple colour fill set to multiply. the colouring of the gifs is entirely up to you and what you think looks best. so here's my second gif, still without the grid:

this is where the fun part starts - the grid layout. i created that with a new guide layout. this is a super neat tool in photoshop that helps you align shapes or selections on your image. the guide lines basically float over it and help you set up symmetric shapes or layouts. you can define how many columns and rows you want to have and then photoshop creates the guide layout for you. for this gif i chose 4 columns and 4 rows:

with this set up, i started creating the rectangles to make the purple gif visible on top of the black and white one. this is my final layout for my shapes:

you can move around the shapes to your liking and what works best with your gifs. i didn't want to cover too much of my base gif but also tried to make their faces in the top gif all be in the gif as much as possible.

this step is just a lot of moving around your shapes and seeing what looks good tbh.

i then grouped my shapes and clipped my top gif (including all layers for the colouring) to my shapes group:

looking good so far. the only thing missing are the lines for the grid. this is where your guide layout comes in again. i just reopened it and then traced the guide lines with my line tool to create the white grid overlay:

(for editing purposes i turned all of the line layers into a single smart object at the end. this is why you only see one layer for all the lines in this screenshot.)

finally, i used a gaussian blur (0,5 px radius, 100% fill for the filter, 40% fill for the overall layer) on the smart layer to make the lines a little bit smoother and softer looking. this is totally optional and again, up to what looks best to you.

Bonfire

I was on quite a writing kick this summer, and I find that the more time I spend writing, the more ideas I have. I've never written for Julie and the Phantoms before, but I loved the show and decided to rewatch it this summer thanks to @thereigning-lorelai (all of the gifsets were on my dash it was wonderful!). This little oneshot is the result:

She hadn’t heard the doorbell, which meant Flynn must have used the hide-a-key to let herself in. “You know that key is only for emergencies,” Julie said as Flynn sat on the edge of her bed. “Who knows? You could have been having a fashion emergency,” Flynn said. Julie spun to show off the outfit Flynn had suggested. “But you’re clearly not. I was right – you look hot in that. If Nick shows up tonight, he’s going to know exactly what he’s missing.” “This is not about Nick,” Julie insisted, cringing even as she said his name. “I’m completely over him.” “Good, because he was never good enough for you anyway.”

King Arthur story, legend, and the whole universe around this character has always been so captivating to me. And then the fact that he plays it, that he sings. 24, 40 and 43 for the fanfic asks, please! ♥️

24. How do you choose whose POV to write in?

ooo i guess it depends on the story! and also who's 'journey' im trying to tell i guess. like, for example, when i tend to focus more on julie and music i gravitate towards her pov because it's easier to explore how she's feeling about it. sometimes i do just picked based on who i think is more fun to write from the pov of tho (i really enjoy writing luke pov because the boy is oblivious to so much while also being incredibly insightful at really specific things which i just find incredibly entertaining lmao) but there has been a couple of times i've started a fic in one pov and realised it doesn't work and had to swap! or done alternating povs which is always fun!

40. What is your favorite world that you’ve created for a fic?

oh the lucky one woodsman luke 'verse hands down! which, i know, mildly controversial given how much i talk about ff!luke but there's just something comforting about the lil lucky one world to me? and i just know there is so much more too it that i could explore if only i could get my brain to cooperate with my ideas smh

43. Is there a trope or idea that you’d really like to write but haven’t yet?

okay so there's two! i would love to write a fake dating fic. it's one of my favourite lil tropes because it's got all the best emotions, the tension, the feeling realisations, the drama, the italicised oh moment, the happy ending! and i do have a wip for one somewhere but idk ive never been able to finish one, maybe one day though!

and the second one is a reincarnation fic! i love a good fated/destiny/soulmates vibe, who'd have guessed! but it's one of those things that would take so much thought and planning and i just don't have the time nor creative juices to do it right :(

is it possible to do this effect but with 3 gifs and would it be easy or not?

hi nonny, it's totally possible and it shouldn't be difficult if you've already followed the initial tutorial. i assume you'd want to achieve something like this (excuse the crappy quality, i just threw something together real quick):

so, instead of preparing two gifs, you'd simply prepare 3 gifs and pull them all into one timeline/document. you can play around more with the sizes of your two overlaying gifs, so more of them are visible in the end.

you'd still create your grid layout (i, again, went with 4x4) and draw your rectangles where you want your top gifs to show. group together those layers that you want clipped to your designated top gif and clip your gifs and colouring layers to the groups:

and that's basically it. you can actually do this with as many gifs as you like and experiment with the layout as much as you want. there are no limits.
