IT'S FINALLY HERE! THE TENGU AND THE ANGEL IS OUT NOW!
Tumblr media
Hello, hello, hello, everyone, I have some very exciting news to share with you all! The Tengu And The Angel, my debut novel, is now finally available to buy! That's right, you can now get your very own copy of my fluffy, angsty, gay friends-to-lovers novel! Oh, but why would you want to, you might be asking? What's the book about! Great questions, my friends, and I'll answer them both for you right now!
The Tengu And The Angel is a friends-to-lovers romance about two roommates falling in love, and learning to let go of their pasts. Eighteen year old Kunio Yoshioka has just fled his abusive mother's home in Northampton, and he's journeying up north in search of a new home, and a fresh start in life. He's armed with nothing but his dreams of being a successful artist, and his vivid imagination. He thinks of his new adult self as a tengu; strong, proud, and capable of things his child self could only dream of. Twenty year old Nathaniel seems to have it all; he's gorgeous, he lives in a beautiful apartment in the centre of Newcastle, and he's the owner and founder of Black Rose, a Victorian gothic online boutique. Kunio thinks of him as angel; he's faultlessly polite and kind, and he goes above and beyond to help him when they first meet, even though he doesn't know him. He's also painfully insecure, and he lives under the thumb of his toxic 'best friend', Theo, who uses his mental illness to control him. When Nathaniel takes Kunio in, the two form a close friendship, which slowly blossoms into love. Can the two of them learn to put their pasts behind, and make their relationship work? Well, you're going to have to read it to find out! Get your copy from Rakuten Kobo, or from the Amazon Kindle Store below!

Anyone else have dreams about their characters? I keep having dreams about playing poker with Kunio, and he gets really offended when he loses. I don’t know why because neither of us knows how to play poker.

All of the names I choose for my characters fit in one of three categories:
-Names chosen for the meaning (Nathaniel and Solana. Nathaniel means gift of god, because of his angel motif, and Solana means sun, because sun motif)
-Names chosen for the themes or vibes (Ariel and Kunio. Ariel is a moon of Uranus, and Uranus is the father of the titans, befitting Ariel’s moon motif and her titan powers. Kunio was named for Kunio Yanagita, folklorist and author of the Tōno Monogatari, befitting Kunio’s love of folklore and fairytales)
-Names chosen just because I happen to like them (Tama and Layla LMAO)

I do the opposite of the Pixar thing with my books. Instead of having a hidden reference to the next book, I have a hidden reference to the previous book.
(Ok, but the one I'm putting in Night Of The Blue Moon isn't hidden at all. Ariel literally refers to Kunio and Nathaniel by name, and she even gets a gift from Kunio's store, Akatsuki Workshop, for her birthday LMAOOOOO)

I don’t know how it happened, but I’m suddenly finding myself writing two WIPS at once. And better yet, somehow, it’s working??? Whenever I get tired of working on one I switch to the other and now my productivity has increased twofold and I’m like, what is this fuckery? Either way I’m glad it’s working LMAOOOO
(The WIPS are my gay magical girl series, Night Of The Blue Moon, and a sequel to my debut novel, The Tengu And The Angel)

Hello! You liked the thing I posted, so here's a STS ask! No pressure, though. Answer whenever, or not at all. :D The question: How do you get yourself through writers' block?
I usually revisit whatever inspired me to start my current WIP, or listen to my character playlists. Or if I don’t yet have character playlists, I’ll make them. For some reason, music is what helps me get into the writing mood, since so many of my WIPs, and my current, published novel, were inspired by songs. Tawagoto Speaker perfectly describes Kunio (MC of The Tengu And The Angel)’s relationship with his mother, and Black Dahlia is the perfect summation of Nathaniel’s relationship with his ex, Theo.

Finally laid out my goals for 2024. The list so far is:
-Finish, and publish the first book in my Night Of The Blue Moon series
-Learn more about book marketing so that I can make my books succeed financially
-Start work on the next part of Night Of The Blue Moon, and a sequel for The Tengu And The Angel (Which, at the moment, will be told from Nathaniel’s perspective instead of Kunio’s)

2023 is finally ending. You’ve been a good year, 2023, as I published my very first novel, The Tengu And The Angel, and started living on my own, but here’s hoping 2024 will be better. I want to finish my next book, and learn as much about book marketing as I can so that I can make my books succeed financially.
Go now, 2023. You’ve served your purpose well, and you may rest now.

I just really need to scream about this review, partly because it's the first one I got on Amazon and partly because this person absolutely adored my book. First off, I'll link it here so that you all can read it:
Ok, but seriously, reviewer, thank you so much for buying and reviewing my book. It genuinely touched my heart to know that somebody out there loved my book this much, enough to want a sequel, and that the love for my characters and their story shone through in my work. I'm grateful for each and every person who buys and reviews my book, and I'm genuinely so happy that someone was so deeply moved by my writing.
Readers, you might not think that leaving a review means much, but take it from me, it absolutely does. It means everything, especially to new authors like me, and it's the kind of thing that keeps us going. So, please, if you like a book, leave a review. I promise that the author will love you for it.

I hate when I get frustrated at something I'm writing. It doesn't accomplish anything. If it did, I could've published ten novels with the amount of times I've thrown something at the screen yelling, 'Just fall in love, damn you!' when my characters don't do what I want them to.

Introducing Kunio Yoshioka, the MC of my novel, The Tengu And The Angel!
Tumblr media
Art by @yhelsstuff
Kunio will be starring in The Tengu And The Angel, my debut romance novel, which will be releasing in December 2023! His character bio:
Name: Kunio Yoshioka
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Occupation: Antique store employee/artist
Likes: Tabletop RPGs, birds, especially crows, Japanese mythology, particularly tales about tengu, his artwork, his grandfather, and his cooking
Dislikes: His mother, being touched, especially by women, boy bands, British food, and food waste
Blood Type: O
Ethnicity: Japanese-British
Sexuality: Gay. Homoromantic homosexual lol
Relatives: Ryunosuke Yoshioka (Grandfather), Nozomi Yoshioka (Mother)
Personality: Passionate, sanguine, and hot-tempered, Kunio knows exactly what he wants in life, and he'll stop at nothing to get it. Having suffered through an abusive childhood, he feels entitled to a perfect life now that he's officially an adult, and he'll do whatever it takes to make it happen. He doesn't have many loved ones, but he's very protective of the few that he has, especially his best friend and crush, Nathaniel. He is highly imaginative, and thinks of himself as a tengu to cope with the after-effects of his childhood. He thinks of his child self as having died, and his adult self as being reborn as a strong, confident tengu, but hidden emotions and trauma lie behind Kunio's strong, passionate exterior.
Want to hear more about Kunio? Read his story, The Tengu And The Angel, in December 2023!

I'm a sucker for gay historical romances lately. I recently read Last Night At The Telegraph Club, and now I'm reading We Could Be So Good. I need more. I could write them myself, but I've got one contemporary I need to promote before publishing, and then I have an urban fantasy/magical girl two part series to plot. UGGGGGH
