IT'S FINALLY HERE! THE TENGU AND THE ANGEL IS OUT NOW!
Tumblr media
Hello, hello, hello, everyone, I have some very exciting news to share with you all! The Tengu And The Angel, my debut novel, is now finally available to buy! That's right, you can now get your very own copy of my fluffy, angsty, gay friends-to-lovers novel! Oh, but why would you want to, you might be asking? What's the book about! Great questions, my friends, and I'll answer them both for you right now!
The Tengu And The Angel is a friends-to-lovers romance about two roommates falling in love, and learning to let go of their pasts. Eighteen year old Kunio Yoshioka has just fled his abusive mother's home in Northampton, and he's journeying up north in search of a new home, and a fresh start in life. He's armed with nothing but his dreams of being a successful artist, and his vivid imagination. He thinks of his new adult self as a tengu; strong, proud, and capable of things his child self could only dream of. Twenty year old Nathaniel seems to have it all; he's gorgeous, he lives in a beautiful apartment in the centre of Newcastle, and he's the owner and founder of Black Rose, a Victorian gothic online boutique. Kunio thinks of him as angel; he's faultlessly polite and kind, and he goes above and beyond to help him when they first meet, even though he doesn't know him. He's also painfully insecure, and he lives under the thumb of his toxic 'best friend', Theo, who uses his mental illness to control him. When Nathaniel takes Kunio in, the two form a close friendship, which slowly blossoms into love. Can the two of them learn to put their pasts behind, and make their relationship work? Well, you're going to have to read it to find out! Get your copy from Rakuten Kobo, or from the Amazon Kindle Store below!

I just really need to scream about this review, partly because it's the first one I got on Amazon and partly because this person absolutely adored my book. First off, I'll link it here so that you all can read it:
Ok, but seriously, reviewer, thank you so much for buying and reviewing my book. It genuinely touched my heart to know that somebody out there loved my book this much, enough to want a sequel, and that the love for my characters and their story shone through in my work. I'm grateful for each and every person who buys and reviews my book, and I'm genuinely so happy that someone was so deeply moved by my writing.
Readers, you might not think that leaving a review means much, but take it from me, it absolutely does. It means everything, especially to new authors like me, and it's the kind of thing that keeps us going. So, please, if you like a book, leave a review. I promise that the author will love you for it.

Introducing Kunio Yoshioka, the MC of my novel, The Tengu And The Angel!
Tumblr media
Art by @yhelsstuff
Kunio will be starring in The Tengu And The Angel, my debut romance novel, which will be releasing in December 2023! His character bio:
Name: Kunio Yoshioka
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Occupation: Antique store employee/artist
Likes: Tabletop RPGs, birds, especially crows, Japanese mythology, particularly tales about tengu, his artwork, his grandfather, and his cooking
Dislikes: His mother, being touched, especially by women, boy bands, British food, and food waste
Blood Type: O
Ethnicity: Japanese-British
Sexuality: Gay. Homoromantic homosexual lol
Relatives: Ryunosuke Yoshioka (Grandfather), Nozomi Yoshioka (Mother)
Personality: Passionate, sanguine, and hot-tempered, Kunio knows exactly what he wants in life, and he'll stop at nothing to get it. Having suffered through an abusive childhood, he feels entitled to a perfect life now that he's officially an adult, and he'll do whatever it takes to make it happen. He doesn't have many loved ones, but he's very protective of the few that he has, especially his best friend and crush, Nathaniel. He is highly imaginative, and thinks of himself as a tengu to cope with the after-effects of his childhood. He thinks of his child self as having died, and his adult self as being reborn as a strong, confident tengu, but hidden emotions and trauma lie behind Kunio's strong, passionate exterior.
Want to hear more about Kunio? Read his story, The Tengu And The Angel, in December 2023!

Hello Alina!
You have gorgeous OCs! What inspired their designs? Did it take a few attempts to get their designs just right, or did you have a vision and immediately actualize it? Either way, incredibly impressive! Love the poses, love the style! ✨
Hello, thanks for the ask! I actually had the art of them commissioned by yhelsstuff, and the cover by Marvinsedit, but both were made under my instruction lol XD I wanted the character stills to reflect their interests, so I had Nathaniel drawn in a Victorian outfit (He’s a Victorian goth who makes most of his own clothes, and he owns a fashion label called Black Rose), meanwhile Kunio’s aesthetic is more 90s punk, but it has a touch of goblincore to reflect his tengu motif. The wings on the cover are purely metaphorical, and are based on Kunio’s perceptions of himself, and of Nathaniel—Kunio has black tengu wings because he thinks of himself as a tengu—He was a disgraced, unloved child who died, and was reborn as an invincible being far stronger than his old self could ever hope to be. Nathaniel has white angel wings because Kunio thinks of him as an angel—He’s selfless, kind, and pure of heart, but he’s too pure of heart for his own good.

In honour of Storytelling Saturday (And because today is National Make Your Dream Come True Day (I didn’t know that until just now!) what are your ocs’ dreams? Starting with mine, of course:
Kunio: Opening an in-person store for his art, and the paint supplies and tabletop RPGs he sells. That, and moving to a small house in the country, near the mountains, getting married, having two sons, and owning a flock of parrots, and some crows
Nathaniel: Opening a boutique for his clothes, getting married, and having kids. He wants to adopt older children, as he grew up in the system, and he knows how difficult it is for older kids to get adopted
Ariel: Creating three bestselling games (She’s already made two), finding a girlfriend who’s cool with her being asexual, and never demands sex from her, and she’d never admit this aloud, but she really wants to be a magical girl, even though she’s now in her 20s. (She’s going to become one but she doesn’t know that yet)
Solana: Becoming an independent Vtuber. She’s already a very successful Vtuber, signed to a massive agency, but she wants to go indie so that she can have control over her content, as she hates the content she’s currently forced to make. Also finding a girlfriend who doesn’t just want her for her body

Introducing Nathaniel, the love interest of my upcoming romance novel, The Tengu And The Angel! Bio:
Name: Nathaniel Azrael Bythesea
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Occupation: Fashion designer/owner of a Victorian gothic online store called Black Rose
Blood Type: A
Likes: Victorian novels and fashion, tea, white roses, tabletop RPGs, his boyfriend's cooking, electro-swing
Dislikes: Christmas, dogs, especially pitbulls, horror movies, the beach, being yelled at
Sexuality: Demiromantic homosexual
Ethnicity: Black-British, but has Haitian ancestry on his mother's side
Friends: Tamara Cato, Layla Cato (Best friends), Kunio Yoshioka (Roommate, and later boyfriend)
Relatives: Unnamed father (deceased), Unnamed mother (Disowned)
Personality: Described as 'gentle, yet radiant' (By my beta reader lol), Nathaniel is an extraordinarily kind and gentle person, who goes out of his way to help others, especially those he feels he can relate to. Having been abandoned by his mother at the age of three, and grown up in fostercare, he often feels as if there's no point in him being alive, as nobody loved him, or wanted him as a child. He is an excessive people-pleaser, and his self worth is mostly dependent on what others think of him. He believes that if he can make everyone like him, then maybe someday, someone will love him, however, this belief has lead to him being trapped in a toxic relationship with his ex 'best friend', Theo, who is emotionally abusive towards him. Will he ever realise his own self-worth, and escape Theo's clutches?
Want to hear more about Nathaniel's story? Read all about it in The Tengu And The Angel, releasing in December 2023!

Hi Alina! How does your writing reflect and/or challenge the values you grew up with? These could be anything from cultural, family, and/or personal values and beliefs.
That's a very interesting question! I think my writing, especially my soon-to-be debut book, The Tengu And The Angel, is very reflective of some of the values I hold personally, those being that you don't owe endless love and patience to people who hurt you, even family, and that having a shitty childhood is not an excuse to be shitty to others. Growing up, I knew a lot of kids who were in the foster system, and I learned very early on in life that not everyone has parents who love them, and that I am fortunate to be the child of two loving parents. Nathaniel's character was very much inspired by the foster kids I was friends with as a teenager, the ones who, even though they'd had some good foster carers, felt unloved and unwanted, and that they didn't belong anywhere. Kunio's character came from my mother, who grew up with a horrifically abusive adoptive mother, and a lot of his insecurities as described in the book are inspired by the effects I've seen my mother's abusive childhood have on her. Tama and Layla, Nathaniel and Kunio's best friends, are based on my own mindset; they, like me, are the children of loving parents, and though they sympathise with Kunio and Nathaniel, and they want to help in the ways that they can, they can never truly understand what they've been through, or how deeply their childhoods affect them, even now that they've grown up.

The Tengu And The Angel is now available for Amazon Kindle!
After a few hiccups, I've finally published my fluffy angsty gay friends-to-lovers romance on Amazon! For those of you who don't know, The Tengu And The Angel is a romance starring my beloved oc, Kunio, who journeys up north in search of a new home, and a fresh start after running away from his abusive mother. He's taken in by Nathaniel, a faultlessly kind and polite fashion designer who's sturggling to move on from his abusive ex, Theo. Kunio and Nathaniel soon develop a deep friendship, which blossoms into love. Will the two of them be able to put their pasts behind them, and make their relationship work? Find out by reading it! You can preview the entire first chapter for free on Amazon!
Tropes: Friends to lovers, mutual pining, slow burn
Representation: Gay Asian MC (Kunio is Japanese), Black British love interest, demiromantic love interest (Nathaniel is canonically demiromantic homosexual)
I'll also be adding the Amazon link to The Tengu And The Angel masterpost (Pinned on my profile)! There, you'll also be able to find a link to purchase The Tengu And The Angel on kobo, as well as character bios, plus some art of Kunio and Nathaniel!

Starting a brand new tag today, I'm going to call it, the fandom tag! Because I'm pretty sure that the ultimate goal of any writer/artist/developer is to create something that inspires a fandom, right? Because it's certainly mine. Ok, so let's think about what would happen if your current WIP inspired a fandom! I'm leaving this tag open to anyone who wants to do it. And also @ryns-ramblings and @sm-writes-chaos . Let's get this started! Starting with me, and The Tengu And The Angel, obviously.
What do you think the most popular ship would be, and what would the fans call it?
The only canon ship in The Tengu And The Angel is Kunio x Nathaniel, and IDK if people would wanna ship anything else lol. I think people would call it TenguTenshi (Cuz tenshi means angel in Japanese, and Kunio is Japanese). Or possibly Natnio, or Kunathaniel
Who do you think the most popular character would be?
Probably Nathaniel. He's pure tumblr sexyman material. He dresses like a Victorian gentleman, drinks tea all the time, and he loves white roses. He's also an emotionally damaged soft boi who really needs a hug
Would you prefer fanart, or fanfiction, about your OCs?
Both. Both would be a dream come true
If your WIP was made into a show, what actor or voice actor would you want to play your main character?
For Kunio, I'd want him to be voiced by Kiyotaka Furushima. He'd be very good at projecting Kunio's 'fuck this shitty world' energy

Been thinking a lot about Theo (Bad guy from The Tengu And The Angel) lately, and more specifically trying to pinpoint what happened to him after he got sectioned. I would like to think that after Nathaniel cut him off, and he got sectioned, he finally realised the error of his ways, and once he was released from the hospital, he started over and found a new group of friends. He misses Nathaniel, but he knows that he can’t go back to him because he’s destroyed any semblance of relationship that they once had. Still, he deeply regrets treating him the way he did, and years later, when he finds out that Nathaniel and Kunio are getting married, he’s happy for them, but he hates himself for knowing that he’ll always be the monster that haunts Nathaniel’s dreams, and he’s too afraid to reach out and apologise to him because he doesn’t want to hurt Nathaniel any more than he already has…
