Anime only watchers and people who aren't caught up with the Manga, BEWARE... Cuz I'm about to discuss Spy X Family Mission 98... You have been warned...! 👌
[SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THIS POINT ON]
This chapter literally broke me in more ways than one...
Tumblr media
This chapter is a continuation of Martha and Henderson's backstory from Mission 97, so let's talk about it shall we...?
So when I opened this chapter and saw a radio...:
Tumblr media
...I literally got PTSD from seeing it because it immediately made me think of the first part of Mission 62, Twilight's (or rather [REDACTED]'s) past, so I knew that things were about to take a turn for the worst...! 😔
On the same page, Martha asks Henderson what he's doing here and he tells her that there's a personnel shortage, so he got to graduate early. Then, Henderson turns off the radio and says this:
Tumblr media
This is just... It's so sad, but true that things, like radios, that were once made for helping others can easily be used to spread hatred and cause harm... It's just not right... 😞
Moving on, after being separated for so long, Martha and Henderson were able to have another tea party like they used to have, but it wasn't long before things started to take a turn... During a school safety drill, Martha asks Henderson if he's excused from being drafted, and he tells her...:
Tumblr media
"It may be that even education is powerless now."... 😟
Hearing Henderson say that hurts my soul... But nothing could prepare me for the next few pages...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why... Why do things like this have to happen... 😣
No, things like this SHOULDN'T happen...! Innocent people dying because of senseless violence, because of war, it's just not right nor is it fair...! And I will always stand by that...!!
Continuing on, Henderson finds out that Martha is volunteering for The Women's Defense Auxiliary and he's upset by this. She tells him that the ballet company she was a part of is going to disband and her dream will go with it, so he scolds her again and she tells him this:
Tumblr media
My heart hurts just seeing the anguish in face and in her words...!! 💔
And the heart break continues because Martha overhears that Henderson is going to be married off and she is devastated... But while in tears, she overhears that the dance is coming again, so this is her last chance to tell him how she feels...!
At the dance, Martha approaches Henderson:
Tumblr media
Martha looks so cute here...!! 💗 I was so excited to see them dance together, that when I turned the page, something unexpected happened... I started to cry...:
Tumblr media
Seeing them happy, even though just for this moment, it reminded me why I love Spy X Family so much... It's for these moments, the moments that most of S×F's cast is fighting for, the moments that we all should strive for...!! There are just so many bad things going on in the world that it makes wish that moments like these could be the norm for all instead of some...!! I just don't understand why must there be so much hatred and malice in the world... Why can't we all live in peace instead of conflict...
Gosh, I'm even crying now just writing all of that... I should probably start to wrap this up...!
So, just as Martha is about to confess to Henderson, this happens...:
Tumblr media
...and the chapter ends... 💔😭💔
And that was Mission 98; truly such a heartwreching chapter to read, just like Mission 62 was...
I don't even know what else to say except thank you to Endo... Thank you for making this manga, for getting me feel all of these feelings, for giving me the opportunity to share these feelings with everyone that loves this series as much as I do...!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart...!! 💗
And thank you to all of you that reads this post...!! There's a lot of things that I wish that I could do to make the world a better place, but if this post inspires you in anyway, that's good enough for me...!! 💗
Sorry for rambling, but anyway... Until the next Mission; take care, be safe out there and thank you for reading...!! 🤗 Later!! 💗

Disney is such an interesting company, the way it's evolved over time to what it is now. Apart of me is disappointed, another part of me feels as though the current drought of good Disney content was inevitable.
I think about right after Walt died, how the company struggled then. However, even then I think their movies were still good, Robin Hood, the Aristocats, Great Mouse Detective, they're still good movies.
That's the era my parents grew up in, sure looking back on it now you can see the flaws in some of the movies, how the animation wasn't as polished as it was before Walt's passing, but then I compare it to the movies now.
The 2020s haven't been a good decade for Disney, Raya, Strange World, Wish, they all flopped. Encanto only made waves on Disney+, which is a good thing but that's one movie out of 5 that have come out of Disney in the past 4 years
Then you have to look at the remakes, how much money they're getting from those. However, their recent ones are flopping. The public knows what they're doing now, just remaking their old movies isn't going to keep bringing in money. The Lion King, Aladdin, they made over 1 billion dollars, The Little Mermaid? Under 600 million. That's still a lot of money, but Disney is also putting in so much money into these movies just for them to fail. People are sick of the remakes, they're sick of the sequels, but their original products aren't causing any excitement.
I don't know if Disney is still dealing with lost time and profits from Covid, but it's sad to see other studios doing so well only for Disney, who reigned supreme last decade with Moana and Frozen and Wreck it Ralph, to fall behind again
Disney seems to do this a lot, actually. The 80s were bad, the 2000s weren't great, the 2020s are bad again. Maybe the 30s will bring us something good, if Disney gets their act together and figures out what people want again.
People ask for 2d, for that old disney feel to come back. An obviously evil villain. Villains don't need a tragic backstory, they don't need anything, but this twisted foulness, a catchy song, and to be memorably evil.
Scar, Ursula, Lady Tremaine. You look at them and you go "oh yeah, they're evil". Which not to say Disney can't do twist villains, but it fails more often than it succeeds. Turbo was a great twist villain, his motivation was there and he was fun. But Hans? And Yokai? It felt random, out of place, like they were lacking the motivation to be good villains.
Scar wants power, so does Ursula, and Tremaine more of enjoys torturing her adopted daughter. These three are so iconic because they're so unashamedly evil and cruel, they're these powerful figures that spark fear into people who get what they deserve in the end.
But Magnifico? He's so painfully boring, he's so underdeveloped. It's sad, disheartening the way he could've been so interesting and yet fell flat in such a pitiful way.
I sometimes think about once upon a studio, this gorgeous mix of all pieces of disney animated history, every movie in there. No pixar or marvel or star wars, just everyone who started this, who made disney disney. It's such a lovely short, and it just radiates this pure disney energy, vibrant and colorful and magical. That's what disney is missing now, maybe that's me growing up, maybe it's just not for me anymore.
but honestly, i don't think this generation is going to have that nostalgia for disney the way me or my parents did, it's lost that because it feels so manufactured, this charm that only disney could do gone.
a weird way to say this is the new intro that plays at the start of their movies, it just feels so manufactured, like all it wanted to do was slide references into it to remind you of better movies. that 2000s/2010s CGI intro? that's my shit. the basic 2d intro? it's a classic, it's memorable, but this new one just doesn't have that affect
this is one man's opinion on something he once loved, but i'd love to hear other thoughts on what disney has become

Top 5 Anime/Manga characters of all time and why?
oh wow hmmm....
Completely subjectively:
Oikawa Tooru (haikyuu!!)
Oikawa... he is just yknow. My Character. But I also often in my daily life have a little Oikawa in my head reminding me that my passion is my passion because it's fun and I love it. That talent and skill are intertwined but also not static or pre-determined, that I might not be as good as I think I should be, and I might never be, but if I don't try I definitely won't. Maybe I will reach my goal today, or tomorrow, or in 30 years. And I can do it at the pace and path that suits me. He speaks of all this AS WELL as the very bitter feelings that preceeds these revelations. I also really love his focus on facilitating others, of reaching potential together, of trust and faith in his team and their in him!
2. Marcille Donato (Dungeon Meshi)
Oh Marcille. (Manga spoilers here) Marcille started out so silly and to be honest? Annoying? Girly and anxious and squemish. But then you realise that these parts are absolutely true, but she is also determined and loyal and scared and unafraid and skilled. The firly and squemish becomes charming in contrast to her being excited to experience death and morally ambigious enough to use ancient magic or become a dungeon lord. And then you learn even more about her and her family, the way she grew up and how she probably is... pretty young, considering everything. The knowledge and life experience of someone being 40 maybe, but with the brain to handle it of a 19 year old... she is so afraid for everyone to die away and yet she cant help but love people! Isn't that lovely!? And as someone very afraid to lose my parents I really really feel for her relationship with her father. I think Marcille was a character who really illustrates the progression of tone in Dungeon meshi, represents the themes of the story so well, and really grew on me. Also gay. hi.
3. Shinji Ikari (Neon Genesis Evangelion)
I know people don't like this guy but he shaped me so much as a teen. I think his journey through lacking self-esteem and depression and self hatred is both fascinating, nuanced and in the end, encouraging! Imagine being offered to join humanity all as one, never feel rejected or alone again and then DESPITE all he has gone through, chosing to be yourself after all! And frankly I love that the show lets him be cowardly and weak and unsympathetic, it makes him more real and make his strong moments stronger. Also gay. hi
4. Mob (Mob psycho 100)
Mobs story is more low key, but I also enjoy a story about a young boy who FIRST has to find the motivation to improve himself, and THEN has to realise that improving yourself and being a good person does not necessarily mean to surpress any negative or strong emotions. Once again, a story about acceoting yourself, even the sides you have a hard time controlling and find off-putting or scary. And I think Mob gets to realise this in a silly and gently way!
5. Abe takaya (ookiku furikabutte)
Oh Abe. It's that one page. When he is explaining to Sakeaguchi his backstory with Haruna, and he is talking about it so casually, it's no big deal, but you can tell. "Everyone is afraid of pain". It makes my heart clench every time. It's his control-issues, his fast felling into caring about Mihashi as a person, but then slowly realising what that actually means. It's him being shocked by the smile, it's him doing anything to win, it's him not realising how mean he is. In a different story Abe would have been a bully. But fortunately for him Momoe and the team and Mihashi himself are not putting up with any of it and he slowly and also gently improves himself. I gotta catch up with oofuri. (also gay. hi)
Shout outs to: Hinata Shoyo (of course), Mihashi Ren (also of course), Edward Elric, Sophie (Howls moving castle movie), Reigen (im not immune), Tamaki (ohshc, sometimes i just think about him and hes so charming and fun and i relate), Kanamori (Keep your hands off Eizouken!, shes just. so cool. It's a fun show but every time shes on screen im blushing a bit shes just! Wow!), and the straight college student from one of my fave BL's who has to go on a personal journey to accept that he actually likes a man who's bigger and taller than him and has a big ass. Shoutouts to him too.

im distraught by the fact Murder Drones is ending, so to make me (and possibly you) feel better, here are:
Some Random MD Character Head Cannons!
Most of these are goofy silly and aren’t really that important, but I wanted to share them anyways :3
  *・゜゚・*:.。..。.:*・'(*゚▽゚*)'・*:.。. .。.:*・゜゚・*
Uzi 🦇
- uses she/they pronouns but is fine with being referred to with other pronoun sets. however, they don’t like to be referred to as it/it’s since this set was used in a derogatory way towards her when they were younger (still sometimes is)
- has autism + ADHD but is not accommodated for it in school
- her guilty pleasure anime is Ouran High School Hostclub (kiss kiss fall in love!)
- had a My Little Pony phase when they were younger and even made a pony sona. When she’s tired and can’t sleep, she puts on their favourite mlp episodes and listens to them while they fall asleep
- is a Warrior Cats kid
- listens to hyper-pop and scene music along with their usual rock, goth, scream-o and night core songs
- is a passionate artist but has kept her sketch books and digital drawings hidden from others ever since they were mocked for drawing “cringey stuff” in elementary school. They still draw when she has free time and she has become more comfortable sharing their art work again (though mostly only with N)
- has multiple fursonas
- also has a crap tone of ocs with super traumatic backstories
- loves to watch crappy horror movies because she laughs at the dumb choices the stupid human protagonists make. however if N is ever over for a sleepover, she’ll refrain from suggesting any scary movies since they know he doesn’t like horror
- they were picked on for having a unconventional name at a young age, but when she found out it was the name of a firearm, she began to believe she had the coolest name out of all of their peers
- knows all of the FNAF game and book lore and will talk about it if given the chance to
- wants tattoos and piercings but thinks they would look weird or bad on her since they’re a robot. to compensate, they occasionally will put super cool stickers she finds on her plating
- has extensive knowledge on Pokémon types weaknesses and strengths
- writes and reads fanfic
- after Nori passed, young Uzi would try to talk to Khan about mechanical engineering just so he would pay attention to them
- Uzi and Thad were decent friends in kindergarten and elementary school, however they grew apart due to their differing personalities and social groups as they got older. Uzi believes that Thad did this on purpose to preserve his popularity. Thad is not aware of this belief.
- already had intrusive thoughts before the Solver was activated, but they became more aggressive and disturbing after it awoke
- despite enjoying getting work done in silence or listening to music, they find that she works better when N is nearby talking about anything. it’s like a comforting white noise
- has a bad habit of challenging V to anything and everything. this is simply because they know V won’t back out, guaranteeing a fun yet quite spiteful competition for the two
N 🐶
- mainly uses he/him pronouns but is open to multiple pronoun sets
- has ADHD and social anxiety
- whenever he hears classical music, his anxiety spikes a bit as it reminds him of his time in the Elliot Manor
- knows how to slow dance but isn’t very good at it
- before Tessa repaired him, N was originally discarded due to his lack of boundaries with humans (aka, speaking casually to them/out of turn), and his clumsiness
- is the fastest of the DD trio
- he doesn’t really enjoy anime as much as Uzi does but he really likes western cartoons like Adventure Time, The Owl House, Craig of the Creek, etc.
- very much dislikes horror in any form (have it be in a movie, video game, book, etc)
- likes to watch nature documentaries, however he skips the bits when an animal dies or is hurt because he feels bad for them
- doesn’t enjoy loud noises or shouting, however he makes an exception for Uzi and V when they yell out in excitement
- knows an ungodly amount of information regarding dogs, wolves or just canines in general. he will start talking about them if ever given the chance
- he doesn’t always understand some things Uzi talks about but he listens anyways since he enjoys her voice and company
- brings V out to social gatherings in the bunker in an effort to get her more aquatinted with the colony and make the workers feel more comfortable around her. However his efforts are in vein since by the end of the party, V is standing against a wall gabbing with Lizzy and every other drone is avoiding her
- N has tried to learn about football so he could play with Thad and his team, but he didn’t understand the rules in the slightest and worried about tackling Worker Drones and potentially hurting them
- when him and Uzi first had a sleepover, he wandered around her room and asked about all the trinkets, plushies, books and posters they had
- draws whenever he gets the chance and gifts his doodles to his friends
- isn’t very good at fighting games, but loves playing games like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing and Spiritfarer
- whenever at sleepovers, N tries to get everyone (usually Uzi, V, Lizzy, and Thad) to play Just Dance or do karaoke of Disney songs
- vocal stims words he thinks sound interesting
- he often feels as though he speaks too much, so he usually apologizes when talking about something he likes or just knows a lot about. Uzi and him have actually developed a thing where if he feels like he’s been talking for too long, he will give her a thumbs up to which she will respond with two thumbs up, letting him know that he’s good to keep talking and doesn’t need to apologize
- really wants to find out where all the immortal dogs had been put so he can go visit them
V 🦊
- uses she/her pronouns but she is okay with they/them pronouns too
- has generalized anxiety disorder
- when she was a worker in the Elliot Manor, she kept quiet to avoid upsetting or disturbing any of the humans around her. even when spoken to, she would speak as little as possible
- before Tessa repaired her, V was originally discarded due to her poor vision and skittishness around humans
- always found her maid uniform to be stuffy, irritating, and incredibly hard to move in, hence why now she doesn’t wear pants or anything constricting
- remembers the entirety of her Solver transformation but isn’t able to remember much of her time being possessed by the Solver
- she is physically the strongest of the DD trio
- whenever she is introduced to someone new (have that be through N or Lizzy), her first response is to try and intimidate them by saying unsettling things or bringing out some of her weapons. this is her way of judging the individuals character and helps her decide if she actually wants to be around them or not. due to this way of introduction, her friend circle is very small and many workers avoid her as much as possible
- tries to avoid affection or comfort from others as much as possible since she doesn’t know how to physically or emotionally react to it
- also try’s to avoid comforting others since she doesn’t believe she’s very good at it (she’s not good at it but she’s learning lol)
- thanks to Uzi, V now likes to listen to J-Pop and vocaloid
- whenever she is genuinely complimented she sputters a bit but will quickly respond with something along the lines of “i already knew that” or “and it took you this long to notice?”
- V is still unsettled by Uzis wings and tail as it is a continuous reminder of her own transformation. she’s become a lot more used to them being present but they still cause her to twitch uncomfortably
- doesn’t enjoy parties or sleepovers but if N, Lizzy or Uzi invite her to one, she has a bit of difficulty saying an honest no. she’ll suffer through the social interaction to make the few people she cares about tolerates happy
- unlike N and Uzi, she enjoys hunting for her oil and feels embarrassed when it is given to her in a canister. in private, she will go out and hunt for a bot or two from a different colony, however she doesn’t torture her prey like she used to
- V will occasionally put on her prom dress and strut around in it because it makes her feel good
- she isn’t very good at video games, but if challenged to a fighting game, she can’t say no
J 🐯
- uses she/her pronouns (trans women btw)
- experiences imposter syndrome quite frequently and when this happens, she will become more strict with her peers in hopes that the overcompensation will cause others to not question her authority or ability. This applies to both her time in the Elliot Manor and her time being the DD trio leader
- acted as Tessa’s main assistant at the manor, helping her keep on schedule and debriefing her on the days tasks. despite her attempts to keep Tessa on track, J found both herself and her human companion getting sucked into whatever nonsense Tessa wanted to do
- before Tessa repaired her, J had been originally discarded due to her unwelcoming attitude and overly strict demeanour
- J likes to draw but she doesn’t/didn’t often have the free time to sit down and doodle
- has the most difficulty remembering what happened at Elliot Manor since she is the most in line with her original programming
- is the main strategist of the DD trio
- would practice her monologues when she flew alone and would try them out on unsuspecting prey
- pitched the idea of keeping count of kills to V, which created a not so friendly competition between the two. N attempted to join but would forget to track how many kills he got during each hunt
- once on Copper-9, she found herself getting homesick fairly often. despite her workaholic tendencies, she misses the days of goofing off with Tessa
- J has a large skill set when it comes to her arsenal. V prefers her claws and blades while N prefers his blades and guns, but she doesn’t prefer one weapon over the other(s) because she is well versed in using all of them
That’s all for now!

hii again!! thank you for answering my asks hehe 😊🤭
Going off from your response (about the bsd ladies ✨), I have some random questions for you 💗
Who is your favourite bsd *female* character?
Who is one female character you'd want to rewrite?
And who is the female character you see the most wasted potential in?
No pressure btw!
Omg hi thank you so much for this ask I love sharing opinions almost as much as I love talking about women 💞💞💞
Favourite bsd *female* character?
All of them LMAO. But Kyouka holds a special place in my heart <3 I mean, I think she's quite objectively the best written female character in this series, if anything because she gets an actual character arc beyond the two occasional chapters of spotlight. I really like the inherent duality of her character in being both a skilled assassin and a little girl (and how it can be both tragic and hilarious! The versatility). Her character arc is sincerely compelling, I'm a sucker for any character who's just doing their very best to be a good person even when it feels like going against their nature. Her backstory is so tragic! Her relationship with her ability is so interesting! But I just love how truly… Strong-willed she is, how determined and resolute she can be; she's truly inspiring. If you ask me, she's got that charm of magical girls anime: sometimes you really need to see little girls defeat unimaginable evils with the power of love to heal your heart. And the fact that she doesn't really fit the trope of happy-go-lucky girl is all the more capturing!! Again, I really love the interior conflict - or coexistence - between her dark, ruthless side, and the side that likes bunnies and crepes and girly things; it makes her so authentically and unmistakably Kyouka. I appreciate how she's the only character who can sort of keep up with the protagonist role to ss/kk and s/kk, and she's only 14 eheh. And I LOVE her interactions with the other characters, so much!!!! I adore her relationship with Atsushi (truly. Not even remotely close to how much I talk about them), and I feel like they truly deserve each other in a lot of ways. The way Kyouka's sharp attitude and blunt personality fit and mitigate Atsushi's eternal indecisiveness and insecurity and the way Atsushi reminds Kyouka every day that she can do good and that she is good. How they saved each other and how they keep saving each other every day. I've said it a lot of times that Atsushi is profoundly selfish and that all good actions he does are to be traced back to some twisted conception of self-survival, but if there's really anyone Atsushi loves selflessly and unconditionally, that has to be Kyouka. If there is such a thing as platonic soulmates, Kyouka and Atsushi definitely are for me; they're just so siblings in a way I can't even put in words. AND AND AND her relationship with Akutagawa I've talked about endlessly before!!! Her relationship with Dazai!!! KOUYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Kyouka and Kouyou chapter my beloved aka the only bsd chapter to pass the Bechdel test). Omg potentially Yosano!!!!! Kenji Kenji Kenji!!!!!!!!! I just. Love Kyouka a lot okay she gets me emotional. Kyouka supremacy forever. (Also, she's dubbed by beloved tpn Emma va Sumire Morohoshi :') )
*Catches breath*
One female character you'd want to rewrite?
Ah, as of now, definitely Teruko. Here's the story I imagine her having: she fought the Great War by Fukuchi's side, as her second in command; despite what her appearance may have looked like back then, she's about the same age as him. She doesn't love or worship him, but she surely admires him a lot; they were comrades and she learnt from him a lot of her ideals on how soldierse have to stain their hands and do horrible, ruthless things in order for the majority of citizens to live safe and happy. She learnt to adore the cause because of him, and she's very loyal to her uniform. She started dressing as a young girl after the war ended, as a way to negate the cruel and traumatic experience of war in her mind and withdraw to the unknowing, happy times of childhood (while still staying her and self-aware; it's just an ephemeral relief). The rest of the story proceeds pretty much as it is in canon, but when Fukuchi reveals to her that he's actually a terrorist working with the doa, she doesn't side with him. She actually feels throughout betrayed, because he had been this pillar of justice and integrity for her, and knowing he was actually a terrorist left her shell-shocked. She DOES act like she's following him, because she is smart and experienced and she knows that she can't take him on her own (differently from Tachihara and Jouno who faced him alone with no backup. Lol. They're a little stupid.), and waits for the moment he lets his guard down to strike and impale him. AND NOT BECAUSE HE ASKED HER TO. WHICH IS HONESTLY TERRIBLE UNDER EVERY ASPECT. Insert here a flashback with her backstory and how Fukuchi himself taught her that justice comes before anything else, because it's the prime tool to serve citizens and pursue world peace. Interior turmoil and trauma for killing the person she respects the most ensues. Now that's how I would write Teruko, because I care about her.
Female character you see the most wasted potential in?
Probably Naomi!!! I love how sly and ingenious she is even in spite of not having an ability, I really hope we'll get to see more of her. I like the theory of her being a projection of Jun'ichirou's ability, although I acknowledge it's problematic in the way it takes away even more agency from her character; even then, it would be cool if she took the form of some kind of sentient ability like Gab in 55 Minutes, or if Jun'ichirou himself was a projection of Naomi (eh. a girl can dream). I really like @frankenjoly's headcanon that she and Mori would be besties, I think about it a lot ahah, I can really see it.
ALSO Higuchi and her ability C'MON I know it's there!!! It MUST be there because bsd so far has been following a very strict pattern where all characters named after writers have abilities, while non ability users are named after novels' characters or non-writers irl people (not to talk about Sakunosuke Oda's The Literature of Possibility passage that's mentioned at the start of the Dark Era novel, with the novel creating a DIRECT connection between writers irl and ability users in the bsd world). I really really hope after this arc is over we'll get an Higuchi arc!!!!
That said, pretty all characters I feel have wasted potential pffttt. Give Lucy and Yosano more screentime!! BRING KOUYOU BACK!!!!!! Finally elaborate on Agatha who's the only female organization leader!!!!! Gin!!!!!!! Wells!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful Precure Episode 31 Review - Social Meow-dia
What looks to have been a cute filler episode spirals into one about Mayu finally patching things with her friend from her previous school. I think using the social media premise was a good way to finally resolve what could’ve been a dangling plot point. However, don’t think of this as just a Mayu development episode. While it is, it’s also one that has foreshadowing for possible future plot points.
Tumblr media
It’s hilarious how the animators feel aware that cat videos are popular hence why Mayu decided to upload Yuki videos to boost Pretty Holic’s following. I also liked how both the positives and negatives of social media is shown too with more customers showing up to see Yuki, but also having Mayu worrying too much about comments and people’s opinions about Yuki. I think it’s a nice showcase to see how teenagers and/or first-time social media users behave in a sense.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since social media posts can be shared globally, Mayu is aware that her former friend Yuma Chiran could also be watching them too. She wishes for a day she could reconcile with her. What’s surprisingly hilarious is that Yuma and Iroha know each other because Yuma’s chinchilla Kotetsu is a patient at the Friendly Animal Hospital. That means if Iroha had been there with Satoru when Mayu was talking about her backstory, the reconciliation could’ve happened a lot sooner. Also, it feels strangely realistic that Iroha and Yuma know each other because it reminds me of the fact that if you’re a big name in your field, people will know you. Also, it’s a fact that in Asian communities, people know each other. My parents know so many people, so I’m acquainted with a lot of people because of them too. It’s interesting to see this applied in anime too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways, I can see why there was a big misunderstanding between Mayu and Yuma. Yuma is very soft-spoken, so her voice wasn’t loud enough to reach Mayu’s ears. Also she never knew about Mayu’s concentration mode and over assumed the situation. It took Yuki to shout at Mayu for her concentration to break and realize the situation. I’m glad that Mayu, who’s also soft-spoken, decided to take a step forward and do something about it instead of agonizing over it like before. She’s come a long way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In fact, Yuki got a lot of character development too. I did mention this in the previous episode review, but it’s more prominent here. I would have assumed Yuki wouldn’t like Yuma due to the misunderstanding, but she’s mature about the situation. She doesn’t gaslight Mayu anymore and even tells her that if things don’t work well, Mayu would always have her, Iroha and the others too. Man, I love seeing Yuki’s character development.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was surprised that Zakuro could change non-Niko Animals into GaoGaons with Kotetsu being the first victim. It seems that her motive is to get pets to see that humans are bad—sort of like a reverse of the Pokemon Black and White story of sorts. Why this interests me is because this could easily make Daifuku a target, thus could be a plot point that could integrate Satoru and Daifuku into the story. I don’t know if it’ll make them Precures, but at least it’ll give them something as they’re important characters too. However, if pets are now being turned into GaoGaons, does that mean there aren’t that many Niko Animals left? Is Torame the one in charge of finding Niko Animal eggs or can he change pets into GaoGaons too? Now this makes me wonder if Komugi and Yuki could be affected by this…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Niko makes interesting quotes throughout the episode. She first says that if people decide to hate you, it’s hard to bounce back. This speaks truth so much. Then, at the end, she seems fascinated with how broken bonds can be mended. These two dialogues from her could easily foreshadow the nature of her and Gaou’s relationship and that it could be mended once again. I can’t wait to know more about what happened between the two of them.

I think this episode was great in the sense that they finally found the right time to put in a Mayu development episode, manage to have her issues resolved, and show off a possible plot point for Daifuku. Now, I’m curious on what Sora Harewataru is doing in Animal Town next episode. Why is she here? What are your thoughts on this episode?

I wanna learn about silver tongue I love abyss lore
Heehee I’ll gladly talk about Silvertongue and his backstory. I don’t know as much about Forgotten Realms lore as I would like to so correct me if anything seems inaccurate, also I haven’t fully fleshed out his lore yet but this might still be quite long because I like rambling lol so I’ll try to summarise it a little (also I might have changed some of the Dark Urge lore to fit his backstory too whoops).
*cracks knuckles* Ok so as a bit of an overview of his character, Silvertongue originally started off as a half-elf bard when I made him, he was also chaotic good but I was able to develop his character a lot more when I decided to ship him with Raphael and made him chaotic evil instead because I thought two evil bards would be really funny, which then led me into researching into Forgotten Realms lore; I found out that cambions can also be half demons in some versions of D&D so that’s why he’s like how he is now.
I’ll talk a bit about his backstory now that you have a brief summary of his character. Whilst Silvertongue’s a half-demon cambion, he’s still a half-elf in game so I decided to make his mother a high elf, although like other cambions she died during childbirth, and I like to think that the reason is because like some animals (such as spiders) he ate his way out of her womb rather than being delivered naturally. Although he was born in Blood Tor, he was very quickly transported to Toril where he grew up in an orphanage in human society (possibly in Baldur’s Gate but I haven’t decided), and for the most part his demonic heritage wasn’t prominent and he fit in well with the other children despite the odd outburst and rampage which were few and far between and wouldn’t last long—he was always drawn to music as a child which lead him to learning how to play violin and flute, and that started his career as a bard when he was a teenager. As he grew older though it became harder to hide his heritage and his urges grew stronger and more difficult to manage, he became more malicious and deceitful, as well as more sadistic, which then escalated and led to him attacking and killing a few people. After this happened he was hunted down like an animal when people discovered his heritage so he fled the city. It wasn’t long after this that his father—a demon—managed to track him down and bring him to the Abyss, saying that he would fit in better there and that his talents would be appreciated more.
This was when he came back to Blood Tor, where he spent his mid twenties to his late fifties. Whilst there he was a vassal to Beshaba and served as a manservant in the court, sometimes directly assisting Beshaba. When he was older he was drafted into the Blood War as a soldier and was trained to fight. He was originally sent on raids with other demons to the City of Strife to steal souls from the Wall of the Faithless, but later on he was sent into proper battles in Oinos, and much later he was stationed in Avernus up until recently. Whilst Silvertongue had a few mortal friends on Toril, he didn’t really have any in the Abyss due to the untrusting and malicious nature of most demons, however he was close with a couple of other cambions that also served under Beshaba at the same time as him. They were also drafted into the Blood War alongside Silvertongue, however one was killed during a baatezu attack in Bloor Tor, but he managed to save his other friend from an orthon attack, however this meant that he suffered many injuries and his clothes were tattered—he still wears the coat he wore from the orthon attack as he views it as a symbol of pride and a reminder that he saved his friend. Silvertongue is probably around 300 or so years old (give or take) so he served in the Blood War for over 250 years, and he was a decent soldier. He was often picked on due to his diminutive stature compared to the other demon soldiers, however what he lacked in strength and size he made up in agility and stealth. That isn’t to say he’s weak though he could still easily rip a human in half.
Now that I’ve given you most of his backstory I’ll talk about the events that took place recently to when BG3 starts. This part is also linked to the Dark Urge backstory, which I altered a bit for Silvertongue’s backstory. Although he was still fighting in Avernus, he started going on missions to Toril in order to disrupt devils from gaining souls from mortals, and for this he went to lots of different cities, one of these being Baldur’s Gate. This is when he ran into the cult of Bhaal, and long story short he ended up becoming involved—he didn’t worship Bhaal but he thought that having the Bhaalists on his side would be useful. Not too long after he met Gortash, and he found out about his affiliation with Bane, and learned about the Crown of Karsus and the Elderbrain, which is when Silvertongue forged the plan to use the Elderbrain and the ilithid tadpoles to turn the people into mindflayers as it would completely destroy the devils’ ability to recruit mortal souls as mindflayers were soulless. Him, Gortash and Ketheric carry out the plan etc etc and during these times Silvertongue keeps occasionally returning to Avernus to continue fighting in the Blood War.
This is right before the events of the game, as he was in Avernus when the nautiloid passed through it at the beginning, and due to being half-elf and therefore somewhat mortal he was swept up by the nautiloid and infected by a tadpole. Similar to some of the other companions—such as Wyll and Gale—Silvertongue’s stronger abilities and a lot of his power were sealed due to the tadpole’s influence, and he was trapped in his mortal aspect with very little magic. His current goal, like the other companions, is to get rid of the tadpole in order to regain his demonic aspect and his powers so he can continue to fight in the Blood War, although reluctantly—he recognises that it’s his duty and it gives him the opportunity to maim and kill others, but he’s still quite connected to his mortal lineage and he likes the thought of retiring, or at least living in Toril rather than continuing to fight in the Blood War.
Alright now on to him and Raphael (and a bit of Haarlep). Their first meeting was interesting, Silvertongue immediately clocked Raphael as a devil and tried to attack him, whilst in my interpretation of Raphael he’s never fought in the Blood War himself and has only witnessed it from afar so he can’t easily distinguish a demon when they’re not in an easily recognisable form, so he just thought Silvertongue was a bit jumpy and paranoid. I haven’t gotten Silvertongue past Act 1 yet, so whilst these events haven’t taken place yet I’m still going to refer to them in past tense for ease. Raphael manages to figure out that Silvertongue’s a half-demon at Last Light and that he was a soldier in the Blood War, which is what prompts him to get Silvertongue to kill Yurgir. In Act 3 I think Raphael’s contract would be slightly altered for Silvertongue, instead offering to remove his tadpole rather than giving him the Orphic Hammer. In exchange Raphael still receives the Crown of Karsus. Since Silvertongue has spent most of his life in the Abyss and hasn’t encountered any devils in a peaceful or conversational setting, he doesn’t really know how tricky they are and the weight of their contracts and how binding they are, so he signs Raphael’s contract; Raphael keeps his word and removes his tadpole. Unfortunately, with Silvertongue having grown attached to his companions and hating authority figures, he decides to break into Raphael’s home to nick the Orphic Hammer so he can free Orpheus, but he doesn’t take his contract as he just thinks it’s some old piece of paper, he doesn’t think that it actually holds any power over him or his soul. As you might know if you break into Raphael’s home without stealing your contract he, uh, incinerates you. My interpretation of this is that the player character then becomes one of his debtors trapped in his house, which is exactly what happens to Silvertongue. Fortunately his companions were able to escape with the hammer, however Helsik then closed the portal because let’s be real who wants a rampaging devil chasing after you into Toril, so essentially Silvertongue is stuck there as his soul is bound and his companions currently had no way of breaking him out.
Raphael doesn’t have as much power over Silvertongue as his other debtors due to his Abyssal heritage and not being fully mortal, so Silvertongue still has some freedom and is (mostly) sane (or as sane as he was before becoming a debtor), he’s mostly just bound to the house and unable to harm Raphael. Silvertongue is not happy about his situation and spends the first couple of weeks essentially throwing a huge tantrum and destroying half the furniture. He meets Haarlep during this time and since I headcanon Haarlep as being an enslaved tanar’ri (thanks to this post which completely hey this place isn’t too bad, it’s warm, I get a bed aechanged my outlook) they hit it off well pretty quickly, so they became quite close and shit-talked Raphael. It took a few weeks but Silvertongue realised that hey this place isn’t that bad, it’s warm, I get a bed and free food and I’m not constantly praying for my life and I don’t have to kill devils 24/7 for hundreds of years so he very quickly becomes a lot like a house cat, although he also realises that whilst he might be stuck with Raphael, Raphael is also stuck with him, which gives him the motivation to be an absolute prick but in a petty and mischievous way rather than an overly destructive and murderous way. Raphael absolutely hates this at first but over time they get more comfortable with each other and less antagonistic, which then evolves into a slight fondness (well more of a mild love-hate relationship), and I think that’s all up-to-date.
I’m so sorry that was so long ajdnshdndn but I really enjoyed infodumping about Silvertongue’s backstory, thank you so much for this ask!

Ok, I’m back with my thoughts on episode 6! I had quite a bit of them so I put them all in this post 💜
⚠️ Spoiler warning for episode 6 of the PJO Tv Show and major book spoilers ahead! ⚠️
Kronos talking to "the lightng thief" : "Give me a reason to question your worthiness again, and there is another that just might be ready to take your place. *looks over at Percy* Isn’t that right, little hero?"
I’m sorry??!!! Maybe I’m forgetting but, was it ever clearly mentioned in the books that Kronos planned on using Percy as a replacement if Luke didn’t do as he was asked? Because I have been speculating this for years but, was it actually in the books? Because if it wasn’t?? Rick is really trying to make sure the foil nature between Percy and Luke can not be ignored
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Percy: "We know who stole the bolt."
Luke: How do you know? 😅👀😗
I just know that he was SWEATING 😭💀
~~~~~~~~~~
Grover not giving a solitary fuck about the humans and only caring about the animals after they free them from the trailer is hilarious to me 😭💀
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just the mere fact that they just talk about May (sure they don’t mention her by name but 🤷‍♀️) is so promising to me. Like we’re getting to know about some things that we don’t get to really know about until the 5th book of the series?? And it’s only episode six of season 1????? Yeah, they’re really trying to let more of Luke’s backstory be known and I love it 😌
~~~~~~~~~~~
Annabeth: "we’re friends of Luke’s."
Hermes: *starts sweating profusely*
Good, he should be nervous! It’s only the consequences of your actions coming to haunt you 😌💅
~~~~~~~~~~~
Hermes: " Time and space is easy, kids. Parenting is something else entirely."
Well first you would have to try and be a parent… 🙄
~~~~~~~~~
Hermes: "I was warned to stay away from Luke and his mother. Warned that no matter how much I tried to help I would just make things worse. And I went anyway. And it wasn’t just awful for Luke… It was awful for all of us."
Hmm, I wonder why?? It couldn’t have been because you literally ignored your son every time he prayed to you and asked for help. It couldn’t have been because May would tell Luke over and over that his Father would visit soon, and then you never showed up! And it definitely couldn’t be because when you saw Luke, you told him that he never should have came back and that he was making his mother worse. Ya know, blaming him for what his mother was going through.
But yeah, it’s a real mystery for sure 🙄
~~~~~~~~~~
Ok but I need to know what that flashback is of Percy’s! Is it supposed to be Hermes insinuating that Percy hurts Sally and manipulating him into thinking that he’s hurting Sally? The same way that he blamed Luke for May. If so, what is his obsession with victim blaming???
Or is it going to show something between Sally and Poseidon? I don’t know but I need to know!
~~~~~~~~~
I am not trying to be insulting to Lin, I actually mean this as a complement, but he does too much of a good job playing a narcissistic, manipulative asshole. That whole part where he’s showing Percy that flashback and the the way he looks over at Annabeth and says; "Should I remind you, too?"
Listen, I don’t mean to trauma dump on main, but I’ve seen that look in someone else’s eyes and I’ve heard that tone of voice being used by a narcissist irl and… yeah, it’s scary how much Lin’s line delivery reminds me of those times.
When I say that the casting directors knew what they were doing, I’m not lying… 😅
~~~~~~~~
Hermes: "I don’t get involved anymore. It’s just not worth it."
I swear, if I hear anymore people trying to make excuses for Hermes after this, I’m reminding them of this line.
Like, let me get this straight. You know what is about to happen, what has been happening to Luke for years now. You knew what was going to happen to him ever since Luke was a baby. You swear up and down that you truly love and care for Luke and May… but at the same time their not worth it??? Why? Because Luke "failed" his quest??? Because he’ll do things that might bruise your fragile ego??? Yet, you truly care about them as well… Be so fuckin for real 🙄😤
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hermes: "It was your father (talking about Poseidon) who warned me to stay away. Said it was awful watching you struggle and feel powerful to stop it. But that sometimes… that’s what parenting is."
Hold up…
First of all, Poseidon literally had Percy 7 whole years after you had Luke. So what did you do during the first 7 years? Do nothing to help all on your own?? The whole blaming Poseidon for your being neglectful is not doing what you think it’s doing…
Second, watching your child suffer is parenting?? Like sure, ok, sometimes you need to let your children learn from there own mistakes. It’s how we grow. But those mistakes are usually small things like letting them get a terrible haircut that you know they won’t like but they insist on getting it. Or them insisting on eating something that you know they won’t like, but you don’t stop them. Not watching your son have to watch his mother suffer and be in pain for the first 9 years of his life. Not looking away as your son is tormented and brainwashed by quite literally the most evil entity in your universe! FFS!
~~~~~~~~
Hermes: "I guess we’re all just doing the best we can."
Hate to be the barer of bad news, but sometimes that just isn’t good enough ☺️
My god, Rick really pulled Lin to the side and said, "I need you to act like a raging narcissist with a victim complex that’s bigger than the galaxy." And Lin delivered like his life was on the line. He definitely wasn’t throwing away his shot💀
~~~~~~~~
Hermes looking at his watch and then telling Percy that he’s basically out of time??? Hermes knew exactly what he was doing keeping Annabeth and Percy distracted.
But don’t worry, guys. He’s trying his best 🥹🙄
~~~~~~~~~~
Annabeth picking Hermes’ pocket? She is so real for that!
She definitely learned that skill from Luke 😌💅
~~~~~~~~
Grover: "We’re late? Are we late because of me?"
Me: *sobbing* 😭🥺💔
~~~~~~~~
Percy trying to drive: "That guy didn’t even slow down! 😡🤬*honks horn aggressively* "
Calm down, Percy. The New Yorker in you is showing😭💀
… but also, that’s a mood 😅
~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, but I’m a bit confused why they changed it to where they’ve run out of time for the quest. Like, what does that mean for the rest of the story? Is everything going to happen as normal still, or will there be changes? 🤨
~~~~~~~~~~
Last thoughts: I am so, so happy with how this episode turned out, imo. I was kind of skeptical on how they would portray Hermes, but I’m glad that they didn’t make him a "good guy". They showed him in his barest form, the form that we don’t really get to see until the 5th book, and I love that. I can not wait for the next episode.
Finally saw the GGGNK movie
Just an unhinged train of thoughts about the film. Spoilers and stuff. And additional spoilers for Exhuma (2024)
First off, the theme of the movie was hugely satisfying. Instead of brushing over the imperialism of Japan the movie says "there were no glory days, it wasn't an honorable death, this is just a bunch of creepy old men hungry for power"
It's heartwarming that this movie is a story about how Mizuki and Gegero met when this is for the 100th anniversary of the author's birth (who is also named Shigeru Mizuki). Clearly a heartfelt homage, I can feel it from the quality of the film- the story beats, the themes, and the designs all seem inspired by him.
The animation was so smooth and the style was consistent. The Gegero vs Osada scene has good sakuga and the stylistic choice of shaky lines was *French kiss*
Character designs are an odd mix of old school and modern anime, but toned down to fit the setting and mood. I'd rather have the designs align with the old school style, but the modern style is worth it with the crispiness
Sometimes the line art did seem inconsistent with some parts being thicker than the rest but it didn't show up much
Tbh I came to the theaters just to simp for Mizuki and he didn't disappoint. Quite charming lad.
His character arc was slightly unsatisfying but since this is a prequel I know parts need to be cut off to keep his character consistent...
Also he's canonically a pretty boy?? The movie mentions he looks like Sada Keiji and
Tumblr media
Damn
He's gives so much openings for asexual interpretations. When Gegero says 'one day you'll find someone who you'll love more than yourself', he does! He finds Kitaro. It's a nice non romantic version of the 'you'll understand love someday' trope
Thank god there's no forced romance between him and Sayo. The movie acknowledges a. the age gap and b. realistically no one would fall for each other in a few days. The 'romance' is mostly a desperate attempt by Sayo to get out of her nightmare while Mizuki is half heartedly playing along. In the end even Mizuki betrayed her by only seeing her as a means for information instead of a person. However, the only thing, and the most important point that differentiates him from the rest of her abusers is that he genuinely apologizes and tries to make amends.
He's usually at his hottest when he's holding a weapon. The gun and axe did something to me. Legit I wouldn't have bothered to go see the movie if it weren't for pictures of him splattered in blood.
Sayo deserved better! I overheard some girls say "they seriously fridged her?" when the movie ended and while I disagree that she's just a fridged woman, she was neglected by the writers
I was bracing for her backstory when the family was introduced. Big, powerful clan in an isolated area? Definitely incest here. I'm not quite sure how to evaluate the handling of CSA but one point I'd give credit for is that they didn't fall into the trap of showing trauma graphically
Her story reminds me a lot of Tezuka Osamu's Ayako. Even the two works' setting (Showa era), a lot of the character roles (monstrous head of the clan, the mad man/woman, the twit sister, callous men in a power struggle) and the themes (conservative values vs new generation) match so I don't think it's a simple coincidence
What a bummer that Mizuki gets over her death so quickly. It feels unnatural how he collects himself so fast after literally having her rage on him for using her feelings and attempt to kill him, then to die in a horrific manner. At least get him a pep talk from Gegero to be able to get a grip again.
And why is there no mention of her when he confronts the head of the clan? The lack of acknowledgement of how Mizuki and the rest of the adults failed her makes the final act feel rather disconnected, to be harsher, weak.
The biggest bummer is that the perspective of other characters are lacking when they all have interesting stories
Osada was one of the characters I was curious before I saw the movie and I was surprised by how little screentime he got compared to the fanart. I was expecting him to be a main antagonist but no, he was a faithful red herring
He's the father of the head in line yet that aspect of him is underutilized. His relationship with Tokiya and Toshiko is virtually unknown, to the point I suspect he wasn't originally supposed to be Toshiko's husband during production and they quickly changed his role. Based on fanart I genuinely thought that he was going to murder Toshiko lmao
And his role as mayor would have been much more of a threat than as an exorcist. I know Mizuki is meant to be the trump card bc he's an unexpected factor, but he could have been a formidable enemy to the duo, pressuring Mizuki psychologically by turning the entire village against him while exchanging blows with Gegero
Overall the experience wasn't bad but I feel like I would have enjoyed it as equally I did in the theater as on my laptop.
It was a lot more consistent than Exhuma but fumbled the execution by an angle of three degrees to fully satisfy me- superior in the drama and mystery aspect but Exhuma's horror and occultism was more intriguing.
That being said it's an unfair comparison since GGGNK has a younger target audience so I imagine if the directors went all out it could have been really, really terrifying. The age restriction was already pushing it when they thought scenes of eyes getting gouged out were okay for children above the age of 12
Hilariously, both are occult horror mysteries that have "Fuck Japanese Imperialism" as their message, despite one being the A-list actor movie and the other being an anime movie for a series obscure outside of Japan. (I could probably make an essay of comparing and contrasting the two's criticism of imperialism, one being from an outsider/victim's perspective and the other being from an insider/perpetuator's perspective.)
Capping off this with a subjective score of 8/10 and an impersonal score of 7.5/10 ig
casually leans on wall and hands you a microphone. how was the spiderverse experience i want all the deets (ive already watched it dw about spoilers👍🏾)
Ohhhh Strap in we're gonna be here for a while (Imma do this in point form for this, because so many thoughts, no energy for real paragraphs
Okay the animation. THE ANIMATION MEDIUMS. So many cool methods. I loved the colour changes in Gwen's universe. HOBIE'S ENTIRE THING, THE WAY HE'S ANIMATED OMG
Mumbattan is such a cool city, I love mashing irl cities to make one cool megacity so much it's such a lil fave worldbuilding thing of mine
Pavitr is so great, I love him, idek how to talk about him I just like him a lot. Him and his gf make such a cute pair too!
Also him saying "I don't use product, just coconut oil, prayer, and good genetics". I love him
The chai tea scene. God he's so great
THe character design is amazing and sososososo cool!! I love that we see the characters change (Gwen's hair growing longer and pinker, Miles' growth spurt, Peter B.'s bathrobe, MAYDAY's LIL SPIDER HAT THAT MJ PROLLY MADE FOR HER).
I love Pravitr's costume glowup. Thank you to whoever arranged for that.
Also, Hobie??? His lace coded boots?? His locs??? HIS FUCKING PIERCINGSSS??? HOW HE COMPARED A FUCKING VOID TO CAPITALISM??? Him taking a liking to Mayday, and straight up SHOWING MILES HOW TO GET OUT OF THE FORCE FIELD WITH A LIL SMIRK?!!! I need him. Need his gender. I love his anarchist ass.
His design really calls back to the punk scene in England, and I love the way he reminds me of old newspapers
Speaking of Hobie, holy shit that guy was flirting with Miles. I know what you are (pls Hobie do u like enbies?)
"I hate the AM, I hate the PM (prime minister probably, idk for sure) AND I HATE LABELS" I love you
Daniel Kaluuya, thank you for your service.
Also Hobie and Gwen make such a funny friendship. But I don't ship them.
The themes of growing up, and Miles' parents being worried about Miles and the people he's with...I nearly cried in the theatre, and I don't normally cry during stuff.
You can just tell that black people were making the big decisions for this movie. Aaron and Rio asking Miles why he took the braids out. Jeff and Rio being like "On time means 5 minutes early", I felt so at home watching this movie. I'm not even from Brooklyn but I just felt so at home at all the interactions Miles had with his neighbors. Even the random storeowner.
Like ppl were speaking aave, using patois, Hobie's accent. And none of that was played for laughs (except for Hobie's lingo but that's a little different bc he's British)
I love how Miles' Ganke is so different from Peter Parker's Ganke. It's such a fun detail how Miles' Ganke was like "I'm not gonna be your guy in the chair".
I love that despite the general "Canon" for Spider Man, there are some differences! I love those intricate details!
And the way the lady in the office was so hasty to force the narrative of them "struggling" when that really wasn't the case? Hit real close to home. I just love the Davis-Morales family
I love the way that the Spot isn't like a general "mildly bad" villain like I originally assumed. I really thought he'd be kind of a "setup" villain, or something that they'd have to clean up and THEN Miles would take care of Miguel and them.
I especially love the way that The Spot is someone from the first movie, who we don't even know until his backstory is brought up.
His voice is also perfect too. He sounds like a complete loser.
Miguel O'Hara. Meet me outside, I just wanna talk
No For real though, he talks a lot of shit about Miles being "The Original anomaly" when his ass needs to inject himself with some kinda spider-fluid to maintain his powers??? Mind you, he tried to force himself into a reality that wasn't his.
This guy is just an A-class hater. What do you have against Miles, honestly???
On the subject of the Spider Verse I think it's so cool how there were so many callbacks to the original canon of Spiderman! I loved seeing the og live action Spider Men in the film too!
And the easter eggs! I couldn't keep up with them all!
Also, wtf was Childish Gambino there. I mean I'm not mad, I actually found Miles' staring at him really funny
I love Issa Rae's voice! But Jessica, queen, please don't fight, you is PREGNANT
Also idk why but for some reason I thought Jessica and Miguel were married in the beginning. Not completely sure.
Gwen being like "Can you adopt me?" when first meeting Jessica...She's so real
Also Gwen is so sososososo so so trans. It's so great
THE ENDING FUCKING DESTROYED ME ARE YOU KIDDING???? 42-Miles being the Prowler?? I'M NOT OKAY BUT I'M SO EXCITED to see what happens!!
But in all seriousness, all the feelings in the movie talked about and the the things left unresolved for the next movie is just. You can tell this was such a labour of love and all the animators were so happy and excited to work on it. I cannot wait for Beyond the Spider Verse!! I'm still buzzing!!
i think i’m enjoying the fontaine story now that i’m playing genshin again so here’s my thoughts on the new characters
-furina. i feel bad for her but i’m not a fan of her va. but i normally turn my sound off when i play so looking at just her writing,,,,,, i think she’s a fine character. the twist was interesting and i don’t fault furina for anything that happened. her being a drama queen but it being entirely a mask she puts on is fascinating. i don’t like focalors tho. she did furina so dirty
-neuvillette is kinda just vibin. he’s fine he’s likable. he doesn’t rlly stand out to me much except that i’m convinced he’s gay. i don’t ship him with anyone tho (most other characters are wayyyyy too young for him so i dislike seeing any ship art of him). i like to think of him as furina’s older brother.
-lyney. um. meh? he’s a good big brother but that’s all i rlly care about him. also he dresses like a slut? and his va is kinda annoying to me idk fjdksk
-lynette. kinda same as her twin. i appreciate that the twins are separate characters bc the trope where twins act exactly the same is a pet peeve of mine. i like that lynette is an introvert. idk that’s all i have to say.
-freminet. i don’t like his design. i’m so tired of the shorter guy characters wearing shorts and being treated like children. but as for his writing. it’s cool. i like that he’s the twins’ younger brother. i like how the plot actually addresses how much danger he was put in.
-charlotte. YOOOO NEWS REPORTER CHARACTER LETS GOOO!! she reminds me sm of april o’neil i love her.
-wriothesley. at first sight i thought he was a basic bad boy werewolf lookin weirdo (my demi butt can’t ever find thirst trap characters attractive lmao). but then i heard him talk,,,, and yeah his voice actor is genuinely a good actor???? i don’t like most of the anime-esque voice acting in this game, and the dramatic dialogue doesn’t help, but wriothesley’s voice actor actually tries to make it believable that his character is a person. and i respect that. and yeah um his backstory is darker than i expected,,,,
-arlecchino. she’s neat i like her aesthetic.
-clorinde. …….. finally a genshin character who doesn’t speak multiple paragraphs at a time LMAO. i like her so far. i kinda ship her with wriothesley tbh ,,, 👉👈 idk i like how often they work together.
-sigewinne. um. i don’t rlly like the child characters. also they were cowards for making her look human and not tHE LITERAL SPECIES SHE IS UGH-
-navia. SAVING THE BEST CHARACTER FOR LAST. bro i was blown away with how much respect and care they put into navia’s writing. her grief felt so real and i could not believe they put her through that much. she’s also so pretty and her design is so aesthetically pleasing. and tbh i hate seeing sm ship art under her name bc she’s too good for everyone lmaooo she’s great. i’m in love. she’s the best fontaine character (and maybe the best genshin character).
also i wanna say i did not expect for this chapter to have this much death and other dark themes. ik fontaine is the land of justice and court cases but man,,,,, tragic,,,,,
Oh...oh I have so many feelings.
So, I just finished binging the One Piece Live Action.  And as someone who has never seen a single episode of the One Piece anime nor has read a single page of the One Piece manga...I really really really loved this live action.
First of all, I love the story.  I think it’s really well done and the plotting works for the adaptation.  Second of all, I love the characters (and I will do a whole section on them in a minute) and I love the cast.  My god the cast.  They each played their roles so fucking well and I’m glad they chose who they did because I really can’t see anyone else playing these characters.  Also, the backstories man.  Look, I am a sucker for backstories and they delivered on them.  And also, also, the fucking flag at the end?!  The icon flag with the skull with straw hat on it?  Bitch, I am emotions
ANNND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE RELATIONSHIPS THROUGHOUT THIS SHOW…the relationships make me emotional
Now, for the characters (at least the mains and maybe like the villains):
Mains:
Luffy: I love how he was portrayed in this.  I’ve seen gifsets of this guy and he is both so loveable but also a gremlin and a little shit and Iñaki played him so well.  I couldn’t stop cooing over how fucking cute he was.  My god.  I think the CGI for his rubber was actually quite cool/good.  Really unnatural looking but hello...the dude’s skin is fucking rubber, it’s gonna be unnatural.  And it worked
Zoro: He was badass and a cunt and a bitch and I love him.  The middle finger in the first episode?  A man after my own fucking heart.  I also really liked Mackenyu in the Fullmetal Alchemist series as Scar, I thought he played him really well.  I think he did a really good job (and I’m excited to see him in Knights of the Zodiac whenever that comes out)
Nami: Her actress reminded me a lot of like a younger Jennifer Chastain (it might be the orange hair) but I really liked her character.  A badass but with a good heart and also a little bit of a bitch.  (If a character is a little bit of a bitch, I’m going to like them, that’s just how it is).
Sanji: I loved his actor.  And I know him and Zoro a little bit better than the other characters and I know that in the anime he’s quite a ladies man.  Like a lot of a ladies man but I like that they kind of toned that down here.  He’s also another bitch and I love him.  I’m also very glad they kept his eyebrows normal and didn’t do the spiral because I don’t think that would have translated well
Usopp: He has a lot of heart.  I really liked how he cared for Kaya and how he cared for his friends and yeah he was a bit of an exaggerated, he’s really just trying to make people smile.  But damn if that little fireball thing that he made wasn’t fucking cool as hell as it exploded that fish guy.  Like get fucked
Garp: I liked his actor.  I don’t know much about the character himself but I liked his actor and I thought he was pretty cool for a Vice-Admiral.  But I have to ask the fans...what is up with the dog hat?
Koby: Apparently according to fans he’s not that big in the anime/manga but I liked him here.  I thought he was cute, in a bright-eyed, bushy tailed kind of way.  A good kid.  And I’m glad he and Luffy became friends
Villains:
Alvida: Oh, she was cool.  Her and her big ass spiked clubs?  Fuck yeah, my dudes.  That was fucking cool
Buggy: Loved the actor, hate the character.  Buggy is just creepy as shit.  But I also hate clowns so there’s that.  But the actor really did bring something to this guy where like...you definitely got that there was something off about him but he wasn’t overbearing.  The CGI for him was *shudders* but also really cool
Arlong: Oh my god, I hated the character but the actor’s voice????  Hello???  I could listen to that man speak all day, holy shit, I could not get over his voice.  His character though, was a dick and I’m glad he got his pagoda fucking smashed on his fucking head, he deserved it after what he did to Nami and what he fucking put her through.
Now, will this live action make me want to read the manga or watch the anime?  No.  But did I enjoy the fuck out of it?  Yeah, yeah I fucking did.  I haven’t screeched with laughter in god knows how long and it was really good to watch/binge and while I may not understand a lot of the background or the plot, I still really enjoyed it and could follow along pretty well.
But also, for the fans because I am genuinely curious...does Luffy ever find the One Piece?
May Reads
The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson
I get it. I get the Sanderson hype. This is book 1 of the Stormlight Archive. It is such an incredibly unique and creative book. It's absolutely everything I want out of a fantasy book. The world building is mindblowing. I mean, he even thought about how the grass would work differently. The grass! I feel like no one ever thinks about the little differences like that that make the world they're writing so much more real and interesting. And the characters are enjoyable too. It's very rare that I read a book where I'm equally invested in every single pov. There's usually always one where I'm waiting for the next to start. Not this one. I was equally invested in all of them. And yes this book is HUGE but it is 100% worth it and I know this series is going to live in my brain forever. I am going to stop now cause I could seriously write an essay. I cannot recommend this book/series highly enough.
5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (⭐️ and a secret 6th star)
Fairest by Marissa Meyer
This is a novella in the Lunar Chronicles about Queen Levana's backstory. I was looking forward to this one cause I love a good villain backstory and it sure delivered. Meyer did a great job of showing that yeah some bad things happened to Levana but she handled pretty much all of them so badly and how that made her who she became in the main series. It reminded me a lot of Snow's arc in the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes where he A) had a less than ideal childhood/family life and B) just kept making worse and worse decisions as the book went on and falling deeper into the villain role.
4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Sandman by Neil Gaiman
The first thing I did when I opened this book and saw Dream was go "wait that's literally just Neil." I love that the artists did that. It made me laugh. So I watched the show before I read the comic and I'm impressed how accurate the show was. There are slight differences but I like both versions honestly. If you like comics or gothic horror, this is a good one to read
5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
I found this book and was immediately intrigued. Octopuses are one of my favorite animals. I think they're fascinating and incredibly smart. My mom and I both ended up with a copy of this book, so we read it at the same time. It wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be, but I did still really enjoy it. I really enjoyed how the main characters grew throughout the story. I especially loved the octopus pov. And I figured out how one character fit into the story before my mom. Which she didn't appreciate lol.
4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨️
Daindreth's Outlaw by Elisabeth Wheatley
I dont have a ton to say about this one. It felt very fast and like it was very much just a bridge from the first book to the third. That didn't make it a bad book, though, by any means. I did like the new sorceress character that was introduced and the magic/evil forest setting. I also enjoyed the fmc exploring and discovering her new powers.
4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson
More Stormlight Archive! I genuinely don't know how I read 4 books between the first one and this one cause these books live permanently in my brain. I'm super excited about where this one left off. It was a really interesting place (literally lol). So much happened in this book and it was cool to see the characters grow in their power. And all the reveals! The backstory reveals, the whole deal with the parshendi (which was super sad), the deal with the spren and the shardblades, whatevers going on with szeth (who I love), and somebody not being dead (I knew it!). I particularly loved shallan in this book. I adore a manipulative protagonist. They just do something to my brain. And patterns a cutie. I was about to fight kaladin, though, and I love him too, but oh my god. I don't know. I could talk about this book forever, so I'm gonna just stop rambling and say that I loved it and leave it at that.
GNASHING MY TEETH AND FOAMING AT THE MOUTH LIKE A FERAL ANIMAL AT THE LATEST JUNO EP
Tumblr media
(strong spoilers below because I have feelings that must be released)
Like...........ughgghhhhhhh
Nureyev
He
And then
And then he
And like.........I had a feeling something like this was coming but that doesn't make it hurt less!!!!!
The first half of this ep was soooooo good and fun and silly. Very much a redo of the first half of Prince of Mars. Better jokes. Better security set up. SO MUCH RESPECT OF RITA AND HER PROCESS AND HER GETTING THE LOVE AND RESPECT SHE DESERVES.
And then to MAKE US THINK IT WAS A NUREYEV FAKE OUT WITH THE COLOGNE SMELL JUST TO GIVE US THE BACKSTORY AND SAY SARASWATI TO ME AND BREAK MY HEART AGAIN BUT ALSO IT'S NOT A FAKE OUT AND HE'S REALLY THERE AND I KNEW HE WASN'T GONNA BE HAPPY.
OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION THAT NUREYEV ISN'T WEARING HIS COLOGNE ANYMORE.
AND NOT ONLY DOES THE COLOGNE MEAN SOMETHING TO NUREYEV BECAUSE OF THE EFFECT IT HAS ON JUNO BUT IT'S ALSO AN HOMAGE TO SLIP AND MY HEART IS MELTING AND POURING FROM MY EYES.
AND YEAH HE'S HURTING JUNO BUT WE KNOW NUREYEV. WE KNOW HOW MUCH RESTRAINT HE'S USING ON JUNO BECAUSE WE KNOW WHAT HE'S CAPABLE OF DOING TO PEOPLE.
More Prince of Mars parallels with chasing after Nureyev, searching a vault for an odd medical thing Juno doesn't really understand, and the alarm being pulled on him. But Juno doesn't escape this time, he just lets himself be caught and AHHH.
AND YEAH THE PRISON IS SUPPOSED TO REMIND US OF INFERNAL GRIND BUT IT ACTUALLY JUST REMINDS ME OF FINAL RESTING PLACE WHERE NUREYEV GOT JUNO IMPRISONED AND BACK THEN IT WASN'T REALLY NUREYEV'S FAULT BUT THIS TIME HE'S DOING IT ON PURPOSE. AND LAST TIME, HE LEFT JUNO ALONE IN PRISON WITH THE INTENT TO COME BACK AND SAVE HIM AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN INFERNAL GRIND BUT CAN WE REALLY BELIEVE NUREYEV WOULD COME BACK TO HELP JUNO THIS TIME? YES, HE'S MADE IT SO SO CLEAR HOW HE FEELS ABOUT JUNO FOLLOWING HIM BUT AT THE SAME TIME HE HASN'T DONE THE ONE THING THAT HE KNOWS WOULD GET JUNO OFF HIS TAIL SO WHY LEAVE JUNO IN PRISON THIS TIME FOR DOING WHAT NUREYEV USED TO DO FOR HIM BACK IN SEASON ONE AND I DON'T KNOW IF MY THOUGHTS ARE MAKING SENSE ANYMORE BUT AAAHHHHHHGGGGGH.
Juno has given Nureyev so so so many opportunities to tell him to stop, so when Juno keeps on following him, WHOSE FAULT IS IT, NUREYEV???!!!
Anyway I'm fine.
Totally fine.
Not totally torn up about the next half being three weeks away.
Fine fine fine.
hi so not really a prompt I think but would you ever consider doing a an avatar au for the bridgerton spouses like what element they would bend and would their bridgerton be benders
Oh I love atla! Yes let's do element bendings for the spouses!
Simon: Earth bender. Simon is very grounded person or at least tries to keep himself that way. He can be stubborn to a fault as shown with the dual he got into with Anthony but with enough shaking to his foundation he has shown he can change. I also would like to think he would get his earth bending from his mother and the Hastings line was orginally fire benders to add onto Simon's daddy issues.
Kate: Might be cliche but Kate comes off as a fire bender to me. With how passionate Kate is it reminds me a little bit of Zuko. And let's be honest Kate's temper might be a factor too, at times it's what's driving the plot forward in the book. But fire is also the element of energy which describes Kate and her constant drive to what she says she's gonna do.
Sophie: Water bender. Water is known the element of change, it is also associated as one of the elements of emotional wisdom. Sophie has been through it in her life but she has always been able to go with the changes she's been dealt with in her life. She may not always like those changes but she's able to keep her head above up and stick to her morals as she goes through these changes. Plus the healing aspect of water could come in handy with her story when Benedict gets sick.
Penelope: Air bender. I was orginally gonna say water bending for Penelope but then I thought about it some more and air fits her so much better. Air is the only element that can't be seen when it's bended, we can feel it with our other senses, but it is an invisible bending. (we as the audience saw it but that was because the animators made it visible to us.) Penelope would probably feel a connection with her element due to both of them being invisible to others. Air is also associated with not only freedom but also wisdom/intelligence and curiosity traits commonly associated with Penelope too. Plus we've seen what tricksters the air nomads could be, an air nomad would 100% come up with the idea of Lady Whistledown and use their air bending to hear all the good gossip.
Phillip: Earth or water, or possibly fire bender. I can honestly see him being any of these three. Phillip can be a rather grounding or maybe static is the word I'm looking for. But he also does have this secret passionate side to him we see peak out from time to time. Earth would be the obvious choice for him, but I can also see water working especially if we take the approach of the swamp benders who water bend the water in the plants. I can see Phillip doing that for his botany research. Fire I think would be ironic but can see working especially if it's connected to his father and Phillip has to learn to accept that part of himself as a bender.
Michael: Fire. I can see an argument for Michael being water too, and I want to say he got his bending from Helen's side. John was an earth bender and the Earls of Kilmartin were typically earth benders. Michael is one of the few who is not which adds to his imposter syndrome. A part of me wants to say fire just because I think it would be interesting to play with especially with his time in the military. It would also be interesting to play with since Michael has malaria with spiking fevers and fire benders could potentially tend to run warmer in body heat. Plus it has to be cold up on the family estate, he's gonna need that fire to keep Francesca warm at night.
Gareth: This one is hard. All I know for a fact is that it came from Grandma Danbury's side. I could be lazy and say water because backstory wise Gareth is the male version of Sophie some people so desperately want. Earth maybe? I can see Gareth being either water or earth. I kinda do want to lean towards water because water is a purifying element. So I could lean into the purifying aspect for Gareth and when I say that I mean lean into the part of the story of Gareth becoming more honest and upfront with Hyacinth.
Lucy: Air bender. So part of the reason I chose this is because Lucy reminds me of a caged bird. She's the bird wanting her freedom but her uncle has her trapped in a cage demanding her to follow his orders. Lucy wishes to be free and spread her wings. She wants to soar up in the clouds, which eventually does come true.
For the Bridgertons I'm gonna rapid fire them off vibes and let's just pretend for funnies that Violet had two different elements in her DNA and Edmund had the other two so I don't have pick and stay with two elements. That or we can be lazy and say they're all non benders.
Anthony: Earth
Benedict: Air
Colin: FIre
Daphne: Water
Eloise: Fire
Francesca: Earth
Gregory: Water
Hyacinth: Air
