okay my megastar daughters.
i also needed the one who looked like megatron to be unnaturally short. and it needs to be known that the short gene comes from megatron.
the tall one is megatronia, the short one is nebula. they have one brother , Atlas, and one sister, Andromeda.
they started as tfp ocs but they're also my idw/mtmte ocs. they also accidentally get stuck in a few other dimensions in trying to find their way home--they completely erase their existence in a few by accident.
also interesting fact about nebula is that when she was born she was genderless. in my aus, sparklings 'choose' a gender before emergence, meaning they give themselves specific coding. nebula doesn't choose one until a few months after she is born. she chooses to be a girl, but until then she was genderless.

Aww, look at these cute lil kiddos, they couldn't possibly be-
Tumblr media
-oh, wait, no, never mind. They're evil.
I'll clean up and color these sketches eventually. Also, goofy headcanon stuff under the readmore if anyone cares. XD;
The Mystic Seller's mention of Leshy's ascension to godhood got me wondering what sort of mortals the Bishops used to be before they were gods, and how the five of them are even siblings. Unless some Real Weird Genetic Fuckery is going on, I have severe doubts they're related by blood, so...Found Family...? Yes, please~ OuO
So now in my brainspace they start out as a bunch of wretched orphan kids, relying on each other to survive with their own unique skillsets, which they utilize with Extreme Prejudice against anyone who happens to be unfortunate enough to have what they need (food/gold, generally).
Shamura is the leader and tactician (and has some spellcasting know-how as a treat), Kallamar is the lookout and stealth killer (with poisons, though he'll resort to Weaponry Panic if things get dicey), Heket is the thief and explosives fanatic (watch out - she'll steal all your food and then go scorched earth on your crops to make sure you STARVE), and Leshy is the distraction master and trap-digger (and general menace who will bite people's faces). Meanwhile, Narinder gets the short end of the stick as usual, in that his only real skill is Kill People Dead - a silent assassin most times, following Shamura's lead to avoid putting him or his siblings in danger, but if he has to, he's equally fine with just rushing in and going ham with whatever weapons he can get his rude little hands on.
I haven't put much thought into most of their meetings - mainly just that (as the seemingly perpetual outlier of the five) Narinder was the last to be brought into their little family. He was already pretty decent at killing to survive, unwittingly massacred a camp of the quartet's latest targets on his own, fell into one of Leshy's pit traps on the way out, and was later found by both Leshy and Heket, who only resisted firebombing Narinder's fun new pit-home when Kallamar found their targets already dead, after which Shamura saw the value in offering Narinder a place in the family. Naturally, he accepted, since the choice was a logical one for survival's sake, but inwardly, he latched onto Shamura pretty hard as a source of guidance and companionship - and, eventually, comfort. Because I gotta add that lovely source of OOF.
The biggest OOF this headcanon creates, though, is that Narinder used to be the one protecting his siblings. :3c Until...ya know. They needed protecting from him. >:3c I do tend to headcanon the whole betrayal thing to be rather less unprovoked on his part, though, because I read too much into the few details canon gives us on that front, and this fucker has become my precious little meow meow, okay??? >:[
I needed to be in bed hours ago lol, why do I do this

Hey Isa!! So I haven’t really been following the QSMP, I’ll admit, but I heard about the recent angst of the “Cage for a cage” situation, and I’m very intrigued! What are Philza and Wilbur’s stories in the QSMP? I’d love to know more! Also where could I find all their footage to catch up?
Well Wilbur's sorta yeeted into the void bc of Lovejoy things, so there's not much to talk about on his front. He has his egg daughter Talullah, who Phil is looking after and has adopted as his own at this point bc its been months, and that's kinda it as far as major keypoints go for Wilbur lore. That and he canonized (or tried to?) him/Phil father/son dynamics again. Haven't heard much from the community if we accepted that as canon or as a Wilbur Bit Because Of Course He Tried To Canonize That Again.
Phil lore on the other hand. OUGH. I don't know where to start, it feels like so little and so much at the same time. Which is funny bc this motherfucker is so allergic to lore despite being a bomb ass rper (I have 11+ years experience rping, this man is rp veteran approved). I get timezones exist and whatnot & he's usually 3-4 hours into a stream already by the time he gets on QSMP to begin with, but he dodged so much of The Horrors for so long. This week has been an outlier and the crows are suffering thriving.
As far as his lore (in a simplified tldr) goes: Ancient bird man wired for nothing but survival gets plopped on a weird island with other English speakers & Spanish speakers. Shit Is Weird And Continues To Be, but all the islanders make friends with eacg other. They're *emotionally slams fist on table* levels of tightknit. Phil especially is always so ready to help anyone out. Timeskip a month or so, Island Federation decides to play matchmaker and then make said matches parents. They're given a dragon's eggs because Dragon Gone ??? Phil acquires egg kid and raises them to be a careful & loving powerhouse like himself (& then later gets second egg kid who's meant to be Wilbur's) only for the island he's stuck on to throw every wrench at him they can in the form of mobs, federation people, trivial ass tasks given by said feds, and more. The longer things go on the worse they get, and ancient man's biggest weakness is his two kids who keep getting used against him. But ancient bird man is an anarchist, this federation can pound sand. Federation doesn't like that! Ancient bird man get punished. (And that's skipping chunks of things, but I have the memory of a peanut so I'll leave better summaries to someone better equipped.) Also when he's not experiencing the horrors he has at least 4 other men thirsting for him at any given time and he donowalls their advances beautifully while also playing into their flirting and thirsting at the same time because he has No /R Thoughts, Only Goddess Wife and egg children. Goddess wife also encourages his unintentional yaoi-ing.
I DO know you can catch up on QSMP lore via the official recap channel "QSMP Info" on YouTube! There's two videos out so far so the recaps aren't caught up to date yet, but they're made by the admins of the server, so they're thorough and accurate.
There's also a Phil VODs channel that's run by one of the most devoted PEGS (Philza Early Gang Society, Phil's offline chatters <3) in the crow community. I'm sure they have every single QSMP vod uploaded (but strap in, Phil's not a 1-3 hour stream andy, he's a 5-8 hour stream chad). Most times, he does Hardcore first then QSMP later (though I think a few times while playing TOTK he'd get on later too so ??? Good luck?) so realistically despite being a 5-8 hour stream chad, there's only 2-4 hours of QSMP in the vod, you just gotta skim through the last half of the vod. For reference, you'll want to search for vods from March 22nd, 2023 to now. That's how long QSMP has been going. It'd be laborious to fish out every crumb of QSMP stream time but I do genuinely think it's worth it just to see how things on the island develop and why so many people are screaming about The Horrors every day.
I'm sure you could also scrape around YouTube for like. Fanmade recaps, perhaps even Phil-centric ones, though I'd be wary of ones that have character analysis rather than just the plain ol stream content a) because they won't have every bit of footage & b) Sometimes People Are Wrong About Characters. You could also dig for clips of major moments (Phil has some on his Phil Clips YT but they're mostly funny) but that'd probably not give you the whole picture if you wanna be slamming your fists on the table and screaming like a monkey with the rest of us LOL.
There's also plenty of livebloggers who scream as streams progress, so check out some tags maybe. The main one is probably #qsmp liveblogging but that'll be any & all member POVs so it's not the most helpful resource but an idea nonetheless. You'd probably be better off looking through #qsmp philza or #q!philza or something, you'd just have to sift through creative works, memes & shitposts too.
Any crows who follow me that might have more/better resources are welcome & encouraged to reblog or reply to this and add Phil lore summaries (and your character analyses bc Phil mains are trustworthy) or more things to check out in order to get all the Good Shit Lore(TM) btw!
(Reblogging might also help this reach crows who DO have more/better suggestions or the capability to recap Phil lore thoroughly, so please do that. :] )

Bastardphobia in GRRM's world.
As you pointed out we see several examples of highborn bastards being treated well and portrayed favourably but it came to my attention that the citation for bastards who are usurpers, is the Blackfyre rebellions that have happened in Westeros.
Before I go into this I'll get the obvious out of the way :
The Dance of the Dragons was inevitable, whether or not Rhaenyra had bastards, Viserys fucked things up for everyone.
Now, the Blackfyre rebellions happened because Aegon the Unworthy legitimized Daemon Blackfyre, who was seen as more Targaryen than Daeron The Good. I won't pretend to be super well-versed about this but Daemon also had all the symbols of legitimacy, which begged the question of who had a right to the throne. This also sparked the Ninepenny Kings rebellion.
This ultimately happened because someone messed around with laws and gave zero fucks about the consequences (this looks familiar)
If these rebellions hadn't happened, this might just be a thing at the very back of people's minds.
Now while there was an anti bastard, this was about people being worried about inherentance,as you stated but as you've pointed out we see bastards who are just minding their own business and doing well for themselves in a world that's generally fucked up.
There's also a class element to this cause where do they fit in, they're outliers.
Let's discuss everyone's favourite bastards Jon Snow. Catelyn who knows her history and has given birth to sons that favour her looks wise, fears what may happen should Jon wants more and the Northern Lords want someone who looks like a Stark.
All in all Fuck the Targeryns.
chaoticcoffeequeen asked: **this is because of the myth that Targaryen's are better than everyone else, they have the doctrine of exceptionalism that allows their inbreeding, this has given them a superiority complex and the idea that rules don't apply to them. (I know why the inbreeding took place but it doesn't change the effects this would have on them) PS: this is why Nettles is so cool cause shes this seemgly non-Valyrian girl who was somehow able to tame a dragon. (Valyrians used blood magic but how did she do it)
Hello & welcome back, coffee queen. Hope you reveled greatly these fine winter holidays. ✨🥂💘
Yeah, I basically think GRRM is using the usurper bastard trope as a means to introduce the premise for dramatic civil wars, but royal bastards are also more high-stakes than the bastards of some random small-time lord. In any case, as long as (like you said), no one messes around with the established laws, the line of succession doesn't get as muddy and the causes for violent conflict remain few. There were bastards on Dragonstone for generations (where the dragonseeds came from) and nothing happened until Viserys I decided to cover his eyes and ears and live in delulu land.
Unfortunately, we're going to have to disagree about Nettles. Obviously I have no way of reading GRRM's mind about this, but I do think it makes more sense thematically for Nettles to have some dragon blood in her from her ancestors. I don't think regular people should be able to ride dragons, as cool as it would be, because it seems to me that within this universe, that kind of ability is only accessible to someone if they've made some sort of pact with the devil. Regular people couldn't have transgressive powers that go against nature because they haven't (yet) transgressed (later part of this post).

So I'm just gonna scream at the void for a second about wicked phases in Mairimashita Iruma-Kun (and also We Are The Main Characters Of The Demon World). Spoilers BTW!
They're absolutely wild. I'm just gonna talk about the wicked phases of Iruma, Azz, Sabro, Goemon, Shaoron and Zom.
So, starting with Iruma. His wicked phase... isn't actually a wicked phase, it's artificial and caused by Ali-san. Irumean isn't evil but is more confident and we all know how cool both Irumean and Irumeani is. A thing to notice though is that in his 'wicked phase', Iruma's hair color is darker than usual. His eyes are also more slanty(?). Idk. Basically he looks different, so just remember this part cuz I'll go back to it later.
Azz and Sabro, I don't think they're super natural either(?). They were trained to go into the wicked phases and can be snapped out of it – also in Sabro's case he had pills and stuff to get into the wicked phase iirc. I don't think Azz has any changes in appearance during his wicked phase, but with Sabnock his hair turns black. Also remember this! :D
Goemon's case is really interesting too since he's the first one we see go into his wicked phase on screen. His true appearance can be seen when his silver coat flies up - maybe cuz it got all windy? Just a theory but maybe the wind got all out of control when it was his wicked phase, since it was mentioned that wind was his family's specialty.
Now, finally, for the fellas from the spinoff.
Shaoron's just kinda a troll in his wicked phase. It's pretty funny. Also, he has eyebags or something? Anyways, not much to note aside from how it's interesting that he kinda riles people up at that state and his bloodline ability is 'Hate Eater' (does exactly what you think it does).
For Zom, he's the most interesting one of the bunch. Why? Because of his tail!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
IIRC, he's the only one whose wicked phase can be stopped just like that (without training I assume). Since for Azz and presumably Sabro, they've got training and have a 'safe word' to snap them back to normal (Iruma is Azz's safeword 🥺) while all someone has to do to snap Zom back to normal is extinguish the fire on his tail. Which admittedly is easier said than done since he actively throws explosives at you.
This little feature makes for a nice 'chicken or the egg' paradox too. I think. Since it goes on fire if he's in his wicked phase... If he's normal and it gets lit on fire does he go into his wicked phase? Or does he just explode?
Also Zom's family has got to have amazing lawyers. From the last time Zom got a wicked phase (from one panel from the time Shaoron was in his phase) he apparently snapped out of it and saw everything around him burned to rubble someone either extinguished the fire or he caused a kilometers wide radius of destruction. Also he revives?? And when revived, is back to normal?? That's absolutely wild.
So, remember the thing I told you to remember?
Iruma, Sabro, Shaoron and Zom's appearance changes during their wicked phases!
Though, Shaoron's appearance change is more minor with his eyebags and teeth being drawn differently, Iruma and Sabro have a whole hair color change. Their wicked phases aren't natural, so maybe that's why their appearance changes so radically?
Zom's the real outlier though. Come on man whats with that??? Im concerned for him- either way aside from the lit tail-fuse thingy there isn't really much of an appearance change. From the comment Shaoron made about Zom having a weird constitution (pics above), that's probably unusual in the demon world.
I might update this when chapter 151 of the spinoff releases.
Anyways that was my pointless 'theorizing' since none of my friends are really that into iruma. The spinoff isn't 100% canon probably but Nishi does 'proofread' it i think, so still a bit canon. Just thought it was neat to point out the differences
Thanks for spending ur precious time reading this barely put together thought process!

bats are the freaking cutest! could you tell me something about them? 🦇💞
ABSOLUTELY HOLY SHIT
oh my god you have no idea we just started talking about bats recently in my advanced class!!
Tumblr media
so aside from rodents bats contain the most species of mammals they have around 20% of all mammals in their family the Chiroptera (over 1000 species!!) and they're all pretty diverse!!
and I mean SUPER diverse these are one of the groups that people are still finding new species in- prepare for a LONG post this first one as an overview of bats and the next over some specific species I think are neat
OK so they are distributed worldwide (except Antarctica) and obviously have some pretty big adaptations around flight
right now there's some debate going on about classification because of their adaptations- mainly based around echolocation, I'll get into that a little more later on- but the old classification system was the mega bats (megachiroptera), which was only one subgroup, and the micro bats (microchiroptera). The genetics are still iffy and to this day its still a little confusing where everybody belongs but that old way has since been thrown out the window... but still likes to watch what's going on inside if you know what I mean (I don't know what I mean....)
but anyway! this was based also around their distribution so we have what are called old world mammals which are critters found mainly in Africa, Asia, and Australia but also Europe (hence the name old world) and new world which is the Americas. Mega bats were considered new world and only held one family which is no longer the case
anyway!
we don't actually know how we got bats
well we do but we dont... let me explain!
the earliest known bat fossil was a Eocene bat found in germany (I think?) from 52.5 Mya also called Icaronycteris gunnelli and it was pretty much already a bat here's a picture
Tumblr media
so... we don't know what it looked like before it looked like a bat! we hypothesize that it was another shrew-like mammal that just transitioned to flying really quickly. after all- that's a big commitment if you want to catch flying prey!
flying also takes up a lot of energy so they have to be tiny (except for flying foxes but I'll talk about them later) they lose heat/energy really fast so that means they need to eat a lot of high value food this leads to nearly all bats being insectovores with a few notable outliers
remember bats are super diverse there's specialization in every way you can think! the only things they won't eat are leafy greens- even the herbivores require high sugar diets and they are too small to have specialized stomachs like other plant adapted mammals.
because these guys require high energy food they also love to stay in tropical climates which is where they are the most diverse- you'll find a whole lot of bats in South Asia and South America.
so let's talk about bats as a whole now that we have some background.
Chiroptera- (literally means: hand wing)
so bat wings. they are more maneuverable than a birds wing and will encase the whole arm and in-between the fingers. they have a super duper adjustable membrane that they can move around in really subtle ways to help them navigate in the dark. their radius/ulna bones (forarm bones) are somewhat fused together and their 1st and 2nd finger acts as that final support beam for the rest of their fingers. they also have a thumb with a claw that sticks out.
their torsos are also adjusted for flight they have a super broad chest with small hips and straight long legs. their claws are independent (not fused like their wings) and they sometimes have a spur off of their ankles to help support the membrane between their legs
some of them have tails some of them do not- when they do have tails the membrane will also be connected to that at the middle.
their shoulder girdle is also special they have a long clavicle a large/strong scalpula and a ridged sternum which makes their center of gravity over their shoulders- this is really important for momma bats! they can only have one young (pup) at a time and they must stay up pretty high on her chest when drinking milk so that she can still fly. that means her nipples are real high up too (eventually she will leave the kid behind and go hunt on her own to bring back food)
here's a few modern bat skeletons
(note the ankle spur on the left image)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ft. my phone in the glass reflection... my bad dog
and check out those Itty bitty hips! imagine how small those babies have to be at birth to fit through that! haha just kidding you don't have to imagine here's a baby bat
Tumblr media
SO small (this is a species called Myotis lucifugus the common name is literally "little brown bat")
OK so flight-
I don't know much about aerodynamics so this is gonna be like a weird bullshit explanation on this
so bats have curved wings for lift and they get thrust from their muscles on their body- they can adjust the curvature of their wings which is called the camber (if I remember correctly idfk honestly) and the front edge of their wing will change their angle of attack. they also adjust their fingers for the same deal bpa bla bla you get the point they can move their wings like crazy
so a high camble or angle of attack means a higher lift. they have super tiny thin muscles under their wing membrane that will also adjust its kinda like when horses twitch their skin to get a fly off.
wing beat cycle- upbeat brings the wing in and downbeat spreads the wing. they get their main power from their chest during the up beat and have less power from their back muscles on the down beat
a lot of them also have like a locking mechanism in their shoulder that keeps their wings from like snapping back open from the wind resistance
variability in wing size is also crazy- so long thin wings = longer flight
their tails are also like rudders and help with lift free tail bats struggle with this especially and will roost super high up and just kinda fall into flight
heavy prey like fruit requires heavy lift and that means their uroptagium (membrane between the legs) needs to be specialized for their habits
some bats use their membrane as like a net to catch moths and other flying bugs and throw them to their mouths very few bats will actually pluck things from the sky with their mouth they use their hind legs 99% of the time
(bat wing anatomy)
Tumblr media
notice those tail variations
ears.
ears on a bat are fucking crazy there's all kinds of different variations (there's that word again) but one main trait is an extended tragus which is used to deflect sound here's a picture of a few examples
Tumblr media
aww Lil cuties
they also have a nose leaf which we think also deflects sound (or heat in some species) both are necessary for echolocation here's some nose leafs
Tumblr media
so while we are up here at a bats head we can talk about their skulls for a second and I'll get back to echolocation in a second
so bat skulls are similar to dogs but they may have modifications in their nasal areas and their incisors and premaxilla specifically. this again.... is super diverse and hard to kinda group together but here's a few examples
Tumblr media
they all generally have primative molars which is called dilambodont molars its kinda a W shape with their crests but some have some crazy teeth like vampire bats some may not have any front teeth at all! they might use their hard pallet as a grinding surface like echidnas do
again... please don't ask me about teeth this is really all I know they stress me out
their relative size is also crazy variable flying foxes are the largest and can have 4-5ft wingspans and be around 2kg while bumblebee bats stay around 2g some of those larger guys can hibernate and a couple of super social ones do too
so!! elephant in the room- echolocation.
this special feat requires good ears and a good larynx
sound is produced in the larynx and comes out the mouth or though the nasal cavities this is just anatomy but in bats their nose leaf will also direct high frequencies away from themselves
remember a high frequency means a short wave length so to detect distances they need two mobile ears on their head to figure out the direction of the sounds. these move and listen somewhat independently from each other
bats are also creative with their echolocation they use a lower call when flying around to make sure they don't run into anything and a higher and faster call when they have located prey- think of it like a sonar on a submarine. the lower call sweeps the area for something to bounce back against and when something moves around like a pretty little moth for example, they will hone in on that sound to make sure they hit their target. and as we remember, high frequency requires a shorter distance from their target.
now I want to break some misconceptions real quick- no bat is blind. some bats have very small eyes and they likely don't rely on their vision but they can all see! bats are also loud! not in frequencies we can hear them but they are basically shouting all night long. echolocation also doesn't present a map of the land like some cartoons may show- again, imagine a sonar from a submarine its pretty similar but we don't actually fully understand how it's processed in their brains- we aren't bats after all!
this echolocation thing is super precise they, can tell the shape, speed, texture, size, type, orientation, and distance of something from a single call and they can go up to 200KHz
hearing the bounced back auditory waves requires a specialized auditory bullae which is shown in this photo circled in red
Tumblr media
so these suckers are not fully attached to the skull and are instead supported by muscles so that they won't deafen themselves with their own yelling. they will relax that muscle when yelling and retract it to listen
this is so precise that they can identify and avoid a .2mm wide wire from a full meter away and can detect a fruit fly from 1/3rd of a meter away
if a bat had their way they could catch prey every 7 seconds (and catch a fruit fly every 3 seconds)
alright I'm gonna leave it here as my overview on bats and next time I'll get into some specific species and the differences between yin and yang bats :)
I hope this post was interesting to you and I hope you learned something! please feel free to ask me anything else thank you for your question!
I've also maxed out on both images AND tags for this post so I'm likely going to try and split up these bigger posts more often
OH before I forget (and I'll do a post on bat conservation too) just a firm reminder DO. NOT. TOUCH. BATS.
they are cute! they are excellent bug catchers! we love them! BUT they are also carriers of lots of diseases that humans can get such as rabies, ebola, and yes covid-19 not only that they are also ILLEGAL to touch
if you see a hurt bat or if one gets stuck in your garage or something call animal control they will send out a LICENSED Profesional to handle it for you
here's some information on the federal laws surrounding bats but always check your state laws as well!
DO.
NOT.
TOUCH.
BATS.
OK that's all thank you :)

The Different Tribes/Species in One Piece
Tumblr media
This topic was requested by @dogfightx - thank you for your question!
General Introduction
The world of One Piece is extremely vast and diverse, with its whackiness ranging from all sorts of odd islands to weird weather phenomena to the creatures that inhabit it. At this point of the live action, you may not know that much about them, but as the story goes on and we enter the Grand Line, you'll start to see a lot more of what the world has to offer. It's fairly rare to see anything other than humans in, say, the East Blue (which is why Arlong was such a big deal), but not impossible (see, once again, Arlong, the host at Baratie in the live action, and Merry - but we'll get to him later).
As such, here's my list of the most important, naturally-appearing, humanoid species - or "races" as they're referred to in the wiki, but that term just really bothers me - you can find in the world of One Piece. You won't find any artificial races or animals in this post. If you want something on that, let me know! I'm gonna be listing them in chronological order of their appearance, so you can tap out whenever you like. As usual, I'll try to keep this spoiler-free. This also means there will be no pictures because those could be spoiler-y - and because I can't possibly fit the diversity of some of these species into one picture. If you want pictures, just ask!
Humans
(First appeared: ch. 01; ep. 01; s01ep01)
You're probably gonna say: "Evie, they're humans, what's so special about them? Just skip it!" But oh no, my dear reader, humans in One Piece are far from regular humans. Most of the humans you might have seen so far in the live action are fairly normal. They might look a little quirky sometimes, like Nami and Zoro with their "unnatural" hair colors. Their hair colors are natural. And that's just the start of how odd humans can get.
Admittedly, we have no way of knowing how far the live action will actually go with the freakishness of humans, but it did keep Buggy. Yes, Buggy's clown nose is real. He was born like that. Humans can have "non-human" features and still be fully human. Feel free to give your OCs pointy ears, sharp teeth, even horns. Some humans in the manga look like apes while still being fully human. You can also make them freakishly large. For reference, one of the tallest humans in the One Piece universe is nearly 30 feet tall with no mixed genes in sight - and their parents are regular-sized! But these are really the outliers and they appear fairly late in the story, oftentimes as antagonists, usually intentionally made to impose respect. And again, there's really no way of knowing if the live action will pick this up in cases where it isn't mandatory for the character to work. Most humans are just regular people with maybe one or two appearance quirks.
So, you can get away with some strange design choices for your humans without them having any mixed blood. But here's the thing: Humans are also compatible with most if not all other species of the One Piece world! Hybrids usually inherit a large chunk of the non-human features of their non-human parent. So, create away!
Humans are the most dominant species across all seven seas to the point that encountering another species or tribe outside of their homeland is fairly rare, and they usually have a bit of a rocky relationship with other species, mostly due to actions of the World Government or the fact that they're considered weak in comparison to some other species I'll touch on later. Humans are often freaked out by the special traits of other tribes and those tribes are often freaked out by humans because they lack those traits.
Most humans have a lifespan that we would consider normal in our world, but there is one character who is currently close to 150 years old and at perfect health, due to her medical expertise. Sanji and Usopp also both claim to never have been sick, but in both of their cases, it should be taken with a huge grain of salt, though for very different reasons.
Fishmen
(First appeared: ch. 69; ep. 31; s01ep05)
Fishmen were introduced to us in the live action as incredibly strong and durable, their skin even able to withstand bullets. That bullets part doesn't hold up for the manga and anime though and may have been special to Arlong, who is a fairly strong fishman. Generally speaking though, fishmen are on average ten times stronger than your average human. It's a tradition in their society to tattoo the symbol of a group you belong to on your body, for example Arlong's jolly roger, the sawfish tattoo.
Fishmen vary greatly in appearance because they can be based on every type of fish imaginable, as well as other sea creatures like squids and octopodes. Crustaceans so far haven't been shown but might also be possible. This can result in some fishmen having multiple sets of arms, for example, or special abilities. Remember Arlong and Luffy's little jabs at each other about having expected the other to be taller? Well, in Luffy's case of insulting Arlong, this is actually a reference to manga canon where Arlong is, in fact, noticably taller. This is a trait shared among many fishmen. They also always have legs and gills at the base of their neck which are also their weak point. This played a huge part in how Sanji defeated Kuroobi in the anime, by the way! They were fighting under water, where a fishman's power is doubled and a human's power is halved. Sanji, close to drowning, blew air into Kuroobi's gills, forcing the fishman to surface and take the battle back to land. Maybe this little bit of information is useful to my fellow fic authors in the future. Many fishmen also have webbed hands and those sharing the genes of a type of shark usually have very sharp teeth. Sharks are also considered some of the strongest fighters among fishmen. Yes, Arlong is a shark, a sawshark to be exact.
As you may have guessed, fishmen can breathe underwater and in the air. Get air or other substances in their gills and they can't breathe underwater anymore, just like how humans can't breathe air if their airways are somehow blocked. Some fishmen are also trained in Fishman Karate, a special martial art that allows them to control water - a very potent weapon, especially against devil fruit users. Their genetics can get very weird, with people often inheriting traits from distant ancestors.
And yes, in case you were wondering, there are female fishmen, referred to as fishwomen. They're also mammals, by the way.
Fishmen mostly live on their own secluded island under the sea, called Fishman Island. Those who don't are usually pirates, but there also are some fishman civilians living on land. Fishmen and humans have a very strained relationship, with fishmen believing humans to be violent and dangerous, but also weak and inferior to fishmen. Humans, in turn, have a long history of classifying fishmen as fish instead of men and discriminating against them. This isn't true for all humans and all fishmen though. Both species are very capable of living together in harmony and there are known hybrids between them.
Tumblr media
The following species haven't been introduced in the live action yet! I'll introduce them in the most spoiler-free way possible, but if you consider simply knowing about them a spoiler, this is your chance to close this post.
Giants
(First appeared: ch. 96; ep. 45)
Giants are, well, giants. They're incredibly strong, incredibly big (real, full-blooded giants are at least 12m tall and stand at 20m at average) and can get incredibly old. There are different tribes of giants but the most commonly known ones are the ones from the island of Elbaf, which is viking-themed. One other tribe of giants are the Ancient Giants, which reach around 60m in height and have ogre- or oni-like features. There is also a tribe that resembles yetis, standing at roughly 40m tall.
Giants age slowlier than humans do. The difference is barely noticable while they are children, but by the time they are adults, an 80-year age gap between two giants is somewhat like a twenty-year age gap between humans. In their early eighties, a giant may look to be in their early thirties by human standards. The oldest giants seen in the story are over three centuries old.
Hybrids between giants and fishmen are called "wotans". They're noticably shorter than giants and maintain a lot of their fishman heritage.
Culturally speaking, giants value a warrior's honor. They celebrate the winter soltice in a festival and fast for twelve days before it. When it comes to relations between giants and humans, there mostly aren't any real animosities, but there is some amount of friction.
Shandia
(First appeared: ch. 221; ep. 145)
Shandia are one of three (officially) tribes who originally came from the moon. Yes, you read that right. They're largely human in appearance with small wings of white feathers on their backs that are too small for them to fly. Per tradition, they often have tattoos across their body. They're modeled after the indigenous cultures of the Americas.
Many Shandia have a hatred for foreigners for historical reasons that I won't mention here because of spoilers. They're a very dedicated tribe and many of them are fearsome warriors. A central belief of the Shandia is worshipping their ancestors, mainly the legendary warrior Kalgara.
Skypieans
(First appeared: ch. 238; ep. 153)
Skypieans are another species originally from the moon. They're very similar to Shandia except they're not modelled after indigenous people (meaning they're mostly fairly light-skinned) and their wings are slightly less detailed, sharp and defined than those of the Shandia. They're a very peaceful tribe and also can't fly.
The Skypieans have a caste system that they rarely question.
There's a third tribe of people that's confirmed to be from the moon, the Birkans, but they barely have anything to talk about, so I'll just mention them here. Some of them look very human, some of them have a goat-like appearance. They also have small white wings but they're down-turned and, you guessed it, they can't fly.
Merfolk
(First appeared: ch. 195 (cover story); ep. 306)
There's no pirate story without mermaids, of course, so here they are! These are your regular old mermen and mermaids, mostly. Human upper body with a fish tail - or octopus tentacles. I haven't seen any crustaceans around yet, but that might also be possible. Biologically, they function very similar to fishmen, including being able to inherit traits from their distant ancestors, and can mate with them. However, they usually don't give birth to hybrids. Their children are either fishmen or merfolk. There are hybrids between humans and merfolk though! They're virtually indistinguishable from full-blooded merfolk in the first generation but lose almost all merfolk features by the second generation. Merfolk live on the same island as fishmen and the royal family of the island comes from their ranks.
Mermaids' tails split when they turn 30, meaning they can walk on land more easily, whereas males keep their tails intact all their lives. Don't ask me how this works for our octopodes folk, I have no idea. They can consciously merge their tail back together for swimming. Mermen generally have a more fish-like appearance similar to fishmen, whereas mermaids usually look fully human save for their tails and have a dazzling natural beauty, which soaking in water allows them to maintain. I don't know about you guys, but I see a lot of gender-bending potential here :)
Merfolk, unlike fishmen, live a mostly vegetarian lifestyle, though it's unknown whether this is for cultural or biological reasons. They're usually good natures and are said to save drowning sailors. They're the fastest swimmers in the entire world of One Piece and can talk to sea creatures and even control them to some extent. However, this excludes sea kings (save for one very special person). Like fishmen, they have a water-based fighting style called "Merman Combat", but it's less useful than fishman karate since merfolk are less capable of walking on land.
Kuja
(First appeared: ch. 498; ep. 392)
The Kuja are, essentially, humans, except for one very important detail: They're all female. They're a lot like the Amazons from Greek mythology in that they're an all-female warrior tribe, but they go one step further: Weirdly enough, all Kuja seemingly only ever give birth to females. Maybe that's because of something going on with their island, but that's just my theory. As such, most Kuja go through their life never having seen a man before. Don't ask me how they keep their population up like that, I have no clue. But this could be a fun thing to play with in fanfiction!
The Kuja are ruled by an Empress and have their own pirate crew called the Kuja Pirates, though not all Kuja are part of the crew. Lots of them spend a relatively peaceful life on Amazon Lily, especially considering that they're fierce warriors. Their clothing is generally very revealing and could be considered offensive by outsiders. (Good luck with that one, live action!) Being warriors, lots of Kuja are fairly muscular, and they consider strength to be beauty. They all have a pet snake that can take on various forms like a bow, for example, and can track people or objects. Most Kuja have no idea what devil fruits are. No men are allowed on the Kuja's territory, potentially because the Kuja's empress can catch a disease known as "love sickness" when she falls in love with a man but keeps that love suppressed due to her tribe's traditions and laws, which will lead to her eventual death.
Longarm Tribe
(First appeared: ch. 498; ep. 392)
People from the longarm tribe have a second joint in their arms, leading to them to have very long arms - hence the name. There's at least some amount of racism against them for their appearance. Apparently, there's at some animosity between longarms and longlegs. They can have a hybrid child with both parents' special features, being referred to as someone from the "longlimb tribe". Hybrids between longarms and humans maintain the tribe's long arms. Longarms seem to be largely Chinese-themed in their fashion.
Minks
(First appeared: ch. 498; ep. 392)
Minks are a lot like fishmen, concept-wise, except they're based on mammals instead of aquatic creatures. Or, to say it more bluntly: Furries, rejoice! Minks are anthropomorphic animals. They have been largely isolated from other species for about 1000 years and refer to humans as "lesser minks" for their lack of fur but have no animosity towards them, considering them a type of monkey mink. Lots of minks also carry over some traits from their animal resemblance. For example, canine minks have a thing for bones. Yes, they have toe beans. Similar to fishmen, the type of animal minks are born as doesn't have to be directly hereditary.
Contrary to what the world believes about them, minks are actually very welcoming towards visitors - the only issue is reaching them. Additionally, minks have access to newspapers and are thus informed about world events. They also know about devil fruits and are fiercely loyal to their friends.
Minks are born great fighters. They possess incredible strength or speed and are extremely stealthy. Additionally, they can generate electricity, which is how you can differentiate a true mink from an animal-based devil fruit user, for example. The minks of Zou know a powerful transformation called "Sulong" which is activated by looking at the full moon for a specific period of time. During this transformation, they grow larger and their hair longer and more voluminous, turning white along with their fur. This transformation greatly increases their strength and speed, however, it has massive drawbacks. If the user hasn't been trained to suppress their feral urges, they will go on a rampage, and using it for too long will result in potentially fatal exhaustion. To transform back, a mink's view at the moon would have to be blocked, either by clouds or by covering their eyes.
Minks take great pride in their fur and don't eat meat from anything that has fur. They do, however, eat animals like fish and reptiles. Generally speaking, minks are very physically affectionate and consider sharing close an act of friendship. They great each other by rubbing their cheeks together and saying "Garchu!" and refusing this or other physical affection could lead to them becoming upset.
There is a theory out there that Merry is part mink, due to his sheep-like features, which are even more pronounced in the manga.
Longleg Tribe
(First appeared: ch. 651; ep. 570)
As the name suggests, members of the longleg tribe have very long legs, making them much taller than average humans. They seem to have a tradition of showing off their legs through clothing or jewelry and, most importantly, tattoos, though not all longlegs do this. Their legs are the most important part of their fighting style and if they use any weapons, they are scaled to their increased height. Hybrids between humans and longlegs look virtually the same as full-blooded longlegs. There is apparently some animosity between longlegs and longarms, but this is never directly addressed and they can be seen working together, their hybrids being known as "longlimbs".
Three-Eye Tribe
(First appeared: ch. 651; ep. 571)
As the name suggests, these people have three eyes instead of two, their third eye being considered "creepy" by other species. Because of this, they might cover it up. A full-blooded member of this tribe has never been shown in the story, but a hybrid between a human and a three-eyed person looks like a normal human, save for the third eye. Full-blooded three-eyed people can achieve something known as the "True Awakening" which makes them incredibly valuable assets, but it's unknown if hybrids can achieve this.
Dwarves
(First appeared: ch. 711; ep. 640)
Dwarves are small enough to fit in the palm of someone's hand but they possess much greater strength and speed than humans. Members of the Tontatta Tribe have very fluffy tails. They are very careful not to be seen by humans and will kill anyone who does see them unless they promise not to tell anyone about their existence. The humans who live on the same island as the Tontattas refer to them as "fairies". Humans and dwarves can produce hybrids.
Generally speaking, dwarves are very gullible towards humans, whom they call "Big Humans". They will casually ask them whether they are good or bad and "good" humans can prove themselves by giving up their weapons or possessions. They're great cultivators, being able to grow any naturally-occuring plant with ease.
Snakeneck Tribe
(First appeared: ch. 827; ep. 786)
As the name suggests, snakeneck people have very long necks that they adorn with rings and, sometimes, tattoos. Oftentimes, they have slender bodies to match their necks, making them resemble snakes even further. No full-blooded snakenecks have been shown thus far, only human-snakeneck hybrids.
Lunarians
(First appeared: ch. 925; ep. 918)
OH BOY, Lunarians. This species is commonly thought to be extinct. They have large, black-feathered wings that allow flight, brown skin, and silvery white hair. A plume of flames is constantly burning at the base of their wings an extinguishing it might be the key to weakening them but it also grants them a speed boost. Generally speaking, Lunarians are very powerful and can ignite their body, making them capable of using formidable fire-based attacks. Additionally, they're known for their near invulnerability. They used to be "a race of gods" that lived on the Red Line, long before the Holy Land of Mariejois was ever there, but went extinct for unknown reasons. The World Government has put out a reward of 100 million Berry for any information on any surviving Lunarians. There's a popular theory that they originated from the moon, much like the flightless Skypieans, Shandia, and Birkans, but it hasn't been proven.
So much for the info part, now here's my little warning to you: Be very careful creating Lunarian OCs. Because of their extinction status and the high reward out for their heads, having a Lunarian that is recognizable as one would be very difficult. They would constantly have to be on the run or enslaved. That being said, you're also very much allowed to apply Schrödinger's Canon.
I had my winged OC Luna even before Lunarians were introduced and had a very minor breakdown when they came along since I could already see my whole concept for her being thrown in the trash. What I did to solve that is way too complicated and spoiler-riddled for me to explain here, but if you'd like to know how I solved the issue because you maybe want something similar to a Lunarian but not quite, let me know.
So, here it is! The collection of almost all of One Piece's species! Hope this helped :)

I'm interested to know how you came up with the names for your skelebois. Is there an in-universe reason why each of them chose those names (assuming they're nicknames, and not their given names)?
Okay so turns out that's like three questions, all with long answers, so I've got three long answers for this!
I'll give you one answer now and the other two later, okay? :D
The short answer to all of it is that they all had to choose new names because they all made it to the Surface... But there's only one Surface to go to.
Backstory time for Senderverse!!!
So!
Because the original Undertale crew broke their Barrier and came to their Surface world first - a world that remembered monsters and magic in fairytales, and that treats monsters as their own sovereign nation with its own laws and culture - that particular magical metaphysical Barrier weakened significantly across the multiverse.
Because in the og Undertale, the Underground was actually in its own pocket dimension.
With me so far?
No?
Aweeesomeeeeee...
Continuing!
Since that particular Barrier weakened first, all the other Undergrounds break through that Barrier in particular.
So a few years after Undertale broke through their Barrier and appeared on the Surface, Underswap broke through the same Barrier.
Cue the confusion of the century in that Surface world lol.
Eventually, Underfell also broke through that Barrier. Then Horrortale. Then Swapfell. Then Fellswap. Then finally Lusttale.
They're still waiting on more Undergrounds breaking through, and they now have a whole set of laws and protocols to follow in case of another Surfacing.
Every new alternate universe that Surfaces gets sponsored by monsters from already-present universes. Monsters from particularly volatile or strange universes are monitored a little more closely, but there haven't been many unexpected incidents.
And finally, on to your question of why all my skeles have new names.
The long and short of it is because it's fair.
When Underswap broke through the Barrier, they weren't expecting to meet more monsters. They certainly weren't expecting to meet alternate versions of themselves, all with the same names as their own.
So after a long series of talks and discussions about identity and the importance of welcoming all monsters equally, everyone decided to discuss with their alternates what their names should be.
Some Underswap monsters didn't mind changing their names. Some Undertale monsters felt the same. Some monsters really wanted to keep their names, and went with a "Grillby the First" and "Grillby the Second" option. Some altered just a bit of their names, and some chose entirely new ones, and some based them on nicknames they already had, or traits they liked or valued in themselves.
And then, when Underfell broke through their Barrier another few years later, Undertale and Underswap monsters were already expecting a new group of monsters to come through. They'd been paying attention to the remnants of the Barrier. They had a welcoming committee ready, with laws and customs to be explained.
And then each group of three met up and worked together to figure out the newcomers' names.
The more new universes emerge, the smoother the process goes.
It helps a lot that the more volatile alternates are emerging into the UT Surface, where they can finally relax.
(Johnny and Knox Copperhead are the outliers. They're from a completely separate universe that's all my own creation, and they have their own story to tell. They're already on their own Surface, and never went Underground at all. Hence why their names are different. They have had those names since birth.)

random thot but you’re the expert here, which fallout game would suit the camelthots most?
WAS A MISTAKE ASKING ME THIS BITCH DFGJF 💖💖
Short Answer: Fallout 4, but I'm barfing up under the cut lmao.
Long Answer:
The Knights 12 is already built to hardcore fuck as the Brotherhood of Steel bc they're literally based off feudal knights in their ranks—Squire, Scribe (seperate semi-non-combat research/tech/clerical role), Knight, Paladin, Sentinel with sub ranks and titles.
Arthur would be the Elder of the Brotherhood of Steel, which funnily enough the canon Elder is named Arthur (Maxson). He's been urged into a burgeoning occupation of the Commonwealth (Massachusetts) by the Proctors of his various Orders (Sword, Shield, and uhh Quill I think??), but he's reluctant to committ so many forces in such volatile and unmapped territory that's not only wilderness but also occupied urban. Don't know if Synths are gonna be the Devils of this game but I'll come back to mess with that later.
——— There IS a super mutant subplot that's pivotal in the Bethesda East Coast Fallout lore that's heavily focused on their eradication and has a massive influence on their plot.
Since this is a military op, Lancelot is probably one of Arthur's most trusted Sentinels, alongside Lucan. Guen I can see being a Head Scribe or Proctor, as well as Ysele.
I could see Morgana being an ousted Head Scribe who was meant for the Elder title, but muscled out. Weligan I could see being a traveling merc that's built a rep for himself up and down the east coast as a mutant killer, becoming smth like a living legend or smth in that neighborhood. Also, could be a Railroad operative, which would be the perfect thing for his rep to hide. Lead em to what the right hand is doing and away from the left hand.
Elowen I feel like is a hmm. See, so much is tired up in the Brotherhood it's hard to get away from it. But she was a waster in the Capital Wasteland, where the Brotherhood's home base is, and (after the events of Fallout 3, where basically they abuse the Lone Wanderer into facilitating their ascension to being the ruling force in the Wastes [hi Lone Wanderer!Perrin and RW crew 😭😭] by leveraging their good name, they go on a colonizing campaign and make it a Steel territory, then they recruit recruit recruit) was inducted to the BoS as a kid. We got child soldiers baby!! Guyeruenna (sp) and their bunch are former wasters turned Steelers from the same territory.
Mordred I could see being yeah a waster turned Steeler, but not by choice. Could've even been a raider or raider captive. Not sure!
I think the main outliers are the other pagans, who were in the Commonwealth already. This is where the rest of it gets fucky.
Deorwine I could see as being the mayor and last inhabitant of Goodneighbor, which is basically a walled anarchist community, that was wiped out by raiders. The timeline is fucked but it exists, and the other pagans are actually settlements across the region. Nimue is the leader of an independent settlement, and Gawain is kind of next in line to become the General (leader) of the Minutemen, which had become incredibly corrupt at the end before its reformation.
I have to fiddle around and figure out who is the player character role this time—Perrin's the Wanderer and Z's the Courier for instance, so we're looking for the Sole Survivor here—and I think that might be Elowen actually? The basic plot needs redone but that's a given bc Bethesda plots are hot garbage.
I WILL CONTINUE TO CHEW TY FOR ASKING LOVE DFHJD

@koffing-time getting down into the weeds on Houndoom burns here instead of clogging the other post. or as much as i can before some other researchers start yelling at me to just write a paper already. buckle up folks.
to start with i'm gonna paraphrase a Xander rant on why they're so vilified. in the eastern regions (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh) most fire types fall into at least one of three categories. they've either been domesticated for centuries (Torchic/Numel), live somewhere remote or inhospitable to humans (Magby/Slugma), or were once revered as a near-Legendary Pokémon (Arcanine/Ninetails).
Houndoom are an obvious outlier and justified or not are often blamed for livestock going missing. with the most potential for human conflict this makes them the most likely Pokémon in these regions to badly burn someone.
let's get something straight. third-degree burns are a nightmare to treat now with all of the options available. in olden times? if you could live without whatever was burned amputation was the simple answer. lot easier to keep a cut disinfected.
so while we now know that a Houndoom burn actually does have more lingering effects than other sources at least some of the reputation is a mythos. chopping off your own fingers to avoid the pain sounds better than saying "i'd rather not get sick and die".
that out of the way let's get into how it actually works.
i'll use the Charmander line as a basis of comparison since they're so well known. they also have a gland that they use to spray fire. they let some of the flammable liquid (essentially crude oil) pool in their mouths then ignite it with a spark tooth (won't be getting into the details but it's piezoelectric). with this pilot light burning they expel a larger amount of oil that ignites immediately (giving their attacks a characteristic explosive start).
aside from having a gland in the same position Houndoom are completely different. they (as well as Houndour) have no sparking mechanism and need some other way to kickstart the process at body temperature.
(Tix i'll send you the actual chemical names later. to stop people's eyes from glazing over any more i'm just gonna call 'em by letters.)
in the gland is primarily chemical A. A being extremely unstable and fairly volatile it's stored under pressure and mixed with an inhibitor (chemical B) to stop it from breaking down or evaporating.
when released from the gland the mixture travels through a channel during which most of B is reabsorbed for future use. meaning that nearly pure A enters the mouth where it undergoes a rapid decomposition reaction into chemicals C and D as well as a fair amount of heat.
out of the mouth C and D react further with oxygen to produce chemicals E, F, and G. the exact ratio depends on available oxygen and heat. more specifically there's a consistent starting ratio but G can further react with oxygen to make trace amounts of E and F but mostly water.
E is extremely flammable and ignites as it is formed using energy from the previous exotherms. F has a significantly higher flash point but actually burns at a lower temperature and this is what's actually burning when a ranged attack hits the target. with something like fire fang E is still going strong which is why those burns are usually worse (for the amount of time that the fire's actually in contact).
i'm familiar with the case that you mentioned and that's a bit of a weird one. i won't mention the patient's name (though you can find it fairly easily) but they were hit by a fire fang in a low-oxygen environment. so E burned up entirely but F was left behind and got in through the open wound.
their situation was atypical in that it left them with a source of chronic pain. hadn't thought of the tattoo analogy before since i don't have one but that's a pretty accurate summation of what happened to that patient.
but wait you might ask. if that's unusual then what actually causes the typical hypersensitization to pain in the afflicted area. it's actually our old friend G. as mentioned earlier it mainly decomposes to water so the body can process it but it takes time. and in that time it acts as a mutagen. affected cells (and their daughter cells since the DNA itself is affected) together release certain classes of prostaglandins in much higher concentrations than they should.
the net positive of this are that further wounds in the area clot faster are less likely to become infected and heal at a marginally better rate. the far more prevalent downside is that the tissues will experience a disproportionate amount of inflammation and pain at the slightest disturbance.
NSAIDs like Aleevee can help temporarily as they specifically reduce the rate of prostaglandin release. they should not be taken constantly without a physician's approval though as they work on the entire body rather than a targeted area and there is potential for long term side effects.
all this being said it's not something that most people need to worry about. Houndour end up producing G at lower concentrations so it's almost unheard of with them and even with Houndoom it shouldn't be a problem unless they were aiming for a third-degree burn (meaning that they were legitimately trying to kill you or your Pokémon). unless they're horribly trained this should never happen in a league battle but best to leave the wild ones alone in case they fear for their lives.
fuck.
i just thought of something this could actually be used for. now i've gotta write a damn paper and cite this post so it doesn't get flagged for plagiarism. how you gonna tell me i'm copying my own work. i wrote it dumbasses.

These are all the ones I could find that I had read. I hope one of them fits what you are looking for.
Ooooh these sound interesting and I will definitely check them out, especially the ones that are for fandoms I know! I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to give me these fic recs! but these aren't really what I'm looking for and I'll be real 90% of the fics people have recommended to me in the comments of that video are not what I'm looking for either. Most soulmate aus have the plot point of being like "I don't love my soulmate" or "I'm not good enough for my soulmate" because that's really the only way to create conflict when they're already meant to be. Like if it ends with the soulmates together happily ever after, no matter how rocky the middle, it's not what I'm looking for. Fate is a narrative force that is its most powerful in tragedies and so it's so confusing to see it act as a force of good

Hi Igby 💛
Those are such fun choices for the subunits??? and they make so much sense???? i'll tell you about mine at a later time and go into detail and stuff cause i'm not feeling my best these days and really don't think i have the brainpower atm :/ (tbh that's also why it took me longer than i wanted to reply... sorry about that 😓)
But now that the album is out, I'm very curious how you feel about it and if you already have a fav song?? I have to be honest, I don't think I can choose yet (as always when there's a new era I have to get used to the sound first lol) but the songs are definitely growing on me!! And they look like they're having so much fun when performing work - so that's still a strong contender for fav song off the album haha
oh sweet Salty, please don’t worry abt replying quickly! i also often take longer than i’d like, so i totally get it, sometimes there’s just no battery reserve left! honestly i feel like this response is an outlier with how quick it is lol ^^;; but really, i am so sorry to hear you’re not feeling great; take your time, take care of yourself first, that’s the most important thing (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)
but for the question; Siren is easily the fave for me so far!!! it’s already on heavy rotation asdkjasdjkdas (≧◡≦) ♡
Blind & Shaboom i’ll gently set in the ‘maybe if i give them time to grow on me’ category ^^;; (those sometimes end up as my faves in the long run so heck, you never know) but Empty Box is very sweet! i feel like i’ll truly appreciate it with a few more listens in a quiet moment hehe~
and WORK is just sooooooooo much fun!!! i love how unserious the MV is, Ateez truly thrives in chaos; i don’t even know where to start for my favourite parts!!! (and i already can’t wait for the dance practice vid! music shows are so exhausting on my brain so i can’t watch them too much adksjadsjkdasj lol. pls give me a clean look at the dancing bc it looks so fun too!!!)
again, please don’t worry abt a quick response! i’d love to hear your thoughts abt subunits, or follow-ups on the comeback when the songs have ‘settled’, so to speak — but you should be having fun laying them out, not feeling pressure or over-extending yourself or anything like that!!! i can wait patiently so there is no rush, please take good care of yourself first. all the hugs to you, i hope life takes a gentler turn soon ♡

I don't understand what's going on at Vermillion Rooftops, but I wanna collect some of my observations and thoughts about there anyways...
Tumblr media
The character you get the bellhop effect from looks a lot like a bunny to me personally with the two ears, but the bestiary just calls them a "creature" which is fair enough
Tumblr media
Bunnies are one of Irving's symbols (see: the fuckton of bunnies he has in his room) as well as a symbol of protection (see: the bunny with the evil-warding charm you get the dust bunny effect from), so is this supposed to be representative of something he experienced?
Why does the bellhop effect cause the rooftops creature to close its eyes and stop crying? Fear that they're gonna be pushed off? Or acknowledgement that whatever went off that roof is gone?
There's not a ton of falling events in this game either... The main notable one is the falling body in the weather station which is locked behind the skeleton key effect.
Tumblr media
And that bears a striking resemblance to the shadows in Outback Roads right outside Junction Space (ANOTHER event locked behind the skeleton key!!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which, annoyingly, leaves the Magic 8-Ball Room as the only skeleton key-locked place without any of these shadows (unless you count whatever this symbol is?)
Tumblr media
The Magic 8-Ball room seems like such an outlier from the skeleton key rooms in general. It always reacts negatively to the wendigo effect, but nothing else. I can't say I understand it at all...
Tumblr media
But back to Vermillion Rooftops -- who the hell is this at the edge of the rooftop?! And why are they so close to the edge?! Take a step back holy shit!! (Then again -- Irving also has to stand pretty close to the edge to see them... you both need to back up....)
Tumblr media
They have a full walking sprite (both with and without hat!!) in the files, but they don't walk around and there's no way to reach them to use the wendigo effect, so it goes completely unused as far as I know... The only other characters who have full unused walking sprites are Irving's friends, presumably because those will get used in later updates. So does this mean mystery redhair person is on that same level of significance??
Tumblr media
They sure bear a striking resemblance to the alarmed person for that matter. In fact, they even have the EXACT same color palette -- down to the eye color (not even other red eyed characters, like the vampires, have that exact same shade). It's just that they're inverse of each other -- Vermillion Rooftops person has red hair and brown head accessories, while alarmed person has brown hair and red head accesories. Vermillion Rooftops person has a red outfit trim at the bottom, while alarmed person has it at the top.
Tumblr media
To further that connection -- every single area you can reach Vermillion Rooftops from (Ventilation Passage and Scarlet World) also happen to be places the alarmed person is at.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only place they're NOT at is Vermillion Rooftops itself!!! Are these two siblings?! Alternate representations of the same person?! I have! No clue!!!!
The alarmed person also LOVES hanging out around extremely dark, suspicious areas involving death. They hang around the graveyard in Boiling Water World at night, sit precariously at the edge of a rock in the Ramparts, wander Scarlet World which you can only reach via Death Row or a bad vibes dragon embyro in the vents... Additionally, all the worlds that you can reach via Outback Roads are routes to get to the alarmed person. Blue Passage leads to Museum where they're there for the vending machine event, and the Museum leads to Ramparts which they're also at. They're in Boiling Water World at night. Death Row leads to Scarlet World which I already mentioned. The only possible outlier is Junction Road, but they might even be there too (but that's a more complicated theory -- I'll post it sometime this week). The only two appearances of theirs that don't fit those themes of death are the aforementioned vending machine museum event, and the fact that attacking them in the Boiling graveyard takes you to Pool World of all places??? Is that why there's a skeleton key door there????? Probably not, but still...
Despite their associations with death, the alarmed person can't be killed and you can't copy them with the wendigo effect. They run away from you if you have vampire equipped, and attack you right back if you try anything. This gives the impression that whatever happened -- if something DID happen -- it would have been Irving's fault for starting it.
So -- who the hell ARE they?!?! Irving doesn't call them a friend in the bestiary, but they're in his dreams more than his actual friends. Lucky appears in 4 places, while the alarmed person appears in 5!!!
A quick theory could be that the hat person at the rooftops was a friend/acquaintance of Irving's who jumped from that roof, and the version you see of them on Vermillion Rooftops is how they looked IRL. Irving feels guilty about it, hence the staring crowd and locked doors. The alarmed person is some form of dream-ghost-version of them who's on Irving's mind because of how traumatic the ordeal was. ALTERNATIVELY the beret person was a friend of Irving's, and the alarmed person is their sibling who died? Or maybe beret person died and alarmed person didn't??? Or maybe they're both fine and just like being suspicious for the hell of it... Why does the alarm person have alarms on their head anyways?! Is it similar to an effect?! Are they also a dream explorer?! Why are the so closely associated with the void?? Aughhh!!! I have no idea!!!!
Also, what IS up with that watching crowd?! The sprites don't match anyone at all... The one on the left is kinda similar to Lucky or the beret person, but not a perfect match, and the long straight hair and short hair don't line up with anyone at all. A friend of mine suggested it could be representative of Irving's friend group -- Lucky on the left, Junction Space person on the right, and mystery person in the middle.
Tumblr media
And I haven't even started with the Hoarder's Room, which you ALSO happen ! To reach!!!! From a DIFFERENT part of Vermillion Rooftops!!!!! But thankfully, I already made a post about most of my Hoarder thoughts, and This post is long enough as is....

Hi Ink, i played on Sunday too i was just too sleepy to write, but now i'm supposed to be working so i'm here instead :"D So uhhh lots of things happened, yea fishy activities from our villains. Would be sooo funny if their ominous leader comrade C would be the chancellor actually. i mean they are so so dedicated to bringing that guy down. :") i have a feeling though that i should know that guy (C i mean) anyway keeping an eye on him. hm i'll probably flood u with asks now bc stupid char limit

Oh this was a delight to wake up to. Congrats anon! You're in deep and there's probably no way out
Laura is indeed absolutely amazing and we all love her. Now her and Fie are unstoppable and could probably take over the world together if they felt like it. We love when girls fight it out in the middle of the night and then become besties
Ahh, yes, the enigmatic C. I won't say much regarding that one for Reasons, but your theorizing is deeply entertaining.
Same with Opera Lady AKA Vita. She's definitely weird but I am not elaborating on how, except that it's probably going to catch you by complete surprise
AND YAAAAY the final two members join the gang!! And yes Crow is great. Now you can be treated to such funny things as the fact that he can be seen dozing off in class scenes. OH and his link victories. I'm begging you his victory bits when linked with the others are so funny, esp Jusis and Millium. AND HIS COOKING please you have to have him fuck up a recipe I love his line when he does that
Ah, Millium... baby child. Spy baby child. Very interesting kiddo, since she vacillates between being Baby and being a competent spy. Her situation is... complicated, for reasons that don't start to become apparent until at least CS2 and is elaborated on in CS3. Anyways yeah now you get to play Baby Leash Holder, have fun
Legram Field Study! This one is so interesting because while Shit Goes Down on every field study, it goes down in a completely different manner and reason than all of the others. It's an outlier, representative of the other side of the plot. It's also one of those that's very interesting in hindsight.
Viscount Arseid is THE coolest guy. I mean if it wasn't already obvious from being called something like The Radiant Blademaster. Genuinely, he is one of the most powerful characters around, and this remains a fact throughout. As far as the nobility goes he's up there with the best. And yeah he's a good dad guy. We love him.
Watching you adore Laura and her dad, there's a character in the later games you are going to LOVE. She doesn't show up for a while so you'll have to wait. But if you love the big sword people, you are going to adore this one.
THE RAILWAY GUNSSS yeah you're coming up on that fast! Exciting. And yes Elliot's dad is there, which is indeed so fun, and I look forward to you meeting him
So, a bit on the bracers, since they're actually a very central group to the series as a whole. In the CS arc you get a better feel for them in the later games, as you meet other members of the guild. Those who came from the Sky and Crossbell games, though, would be more familiar with them. The protagonists of the Sky games are themselves Bracers, and the Crossbell crew works semi-in-tandem, semi-competitively with them. Each arc is fairly good at being played by themselves, but there's your fun background! They're a fun and overall very do-gooder organization. And also a veryyyy colorful bunch lol
And finally, the Chancellor. He's. Well, controversial certainly applies. Politics, child spies... once again, can't say shit, but I will say I want to study this man under a microscope.

Character ref for; Jack, Maddie and Jazz,
Art by @gally-hin / @gally-hin-phantom
Okay so first off; in terms of Actual redesign, I didn't change a whole lot. I'm actually very fond of Jack and Maddie's design's, my only real issue was with their proportions. Like...look as a lady person who is also thiCC I do not have a fucking wasp thin waist and I'm sure I'm not the only one, lmao. As for Jack? Godamnit he looked like a brick on toothpicks. Just Let him be a fucking Bara man! Anyway of course I asked Gally to do this one bc they're fucking great at drawing different body types
I also cannot and will not take credit for Jazz's outfit. I didn't have any issue with her canon clothes aside from them being a bit plain, so what she's wearing here was literally pulled straight off of her original concept art, which I will link here.
Anyway, getting to the Actual character lore now, let's start with
Maddie Fenton
-Full name is Madeline (I haven't decided on a maiden name yet)
-Born and raised on a farm in Arkansas, had a southern accent that she trained herself out of in college bc it was just one more reason for people not to take her seriously. Still sometimes uses "y'all" completely unironically bc old habits die hard.
-She has a really big family, and they're proud of her accomplishments but feel like she's wasting her talent studying ghosts, because really, up until the Fenton portal was up and running there wasn't even any solid proof they existed. Her sister Alicia is the one outlier there, and even if she doesn't understand, it she completely supports her.
-She majored in engineering and minored in psychology at Wisconsin EDU. Her, Jack and Vlad were all in the same engineering class, and that's where they met.
-Maddie is particularly interested in how ghosts think, analysing their behavior, their motives. Not only that, but they aren't just dead people with unfinished business, they've built an entire culture in the Ghost Zone that is completely seperate from humanity, and she wants to understand all of it.
-skilled marksman and 9th degree black belt, (which is. The highest fucking level there is holy shit? I looked it up after I saw it on her wiki page.)
Jack Fenton
-He's from Minnesota (Amity park is in Illinois and him and Maddie didn't move there until after they got married)
-okay, "but why minnesota specifically" you ask? Because. I crave. Foot ball discourse.
-minnesota vikings vs green bay packers guys do you UNDERSTAND WHERE IM GOING WITH THIS
-The funny thing is that Jack only watches football casually while Vlad is a fucking die hard so when these two got together to see a game it was like....
-Jack: Here to chill and have a good time.
-Vlad: Primed and ready to start a fist fight at any given moment.
-I am never not going to be salty about how Canon Jack was portrayed like a complete moron 99% percent of the time. Like no...theres a difference between Actual Stupid and ADHD induced dumbass-ery.
-Am I saying Jack Fenton has ADHD? Yes. why? Because I also have ADHD and I have always vibed So Hard with his Character.
-Jack is loud and easily excited about things that interest him. He's impulsive and fidgety and yeah, a bit absent minded. He has a mouth that clearly runs so much faster than his head. His train of thought doesn't get derailed so much as it stops and takes several different detours on the way to it's final destination.
-and that's only the tip of the iceberg, really, I'd need an entire essay to get into this completely, but I just really relate.
-Jacks skill-set / interests regarding ghosts vary a bit from Maddie's, most notably in the sense that he doesn't believe that they're static entities already set in their ways, completely incapable of change.
-Jack majored in engineering and minored in Biology at Wisconsin EDU.
-Jack's work with tech is a bit hit or miss. He definitely HAS the engineering skills, but the intrest isn't always there and he's constantly jumping back and forth between different projects. He tends to focus on the concept work and schematics and leave most of the assembly to Maddie as a result. It's an arrangement that works well for them, and has drastically decreased the number of unintentional explosions in the lab.
-A lot of Jack's work tends to revolve around ghostly biology and Ectoplasm, figuring out how ghosts are made, what makes them tick, what the hell Ectoplasm Actually Is, how it's used as an energy source, ect.
-and yes, that does also mean he handles the dissections.
-See that facial scar? Yeah, that's not actually there at the start of the series rewrite but it's very important for plot reasons so I had to include it. Can't say much more on the subject because SPOILERs owo.
Jasmine Fenton
-Jazz is a 18 years old, and a senior at Casper high.
-Which means she prepping to go away to college and won't be around to keep an eye on Danny.
-Obviously that doesn't mean I'm just writing her out of the story, oh no. Know why? Because she's also gonna go to Wisconsin EDU. ya know who else is in Wisconsin? Fuckin' Vlad.
-Jazz is autistic, Although she passes for neurotypical in part due to symptoms being completely over looked in girls due to gender stereotyping and also the fact that she doesn't have any special interests that are considered " "too weird.""
- Her hyperfixation with psychology started at a young age in an effort to better understand people, and social/emotional cues and all that.
-Jazz is well liked at school but she's not popular or apart of any specific group or clique. She's very kind and compassionate to people, and just about everyone knows her, but you'd be hard pressed to find someone who actually Considered her a friend. Except maybe Spike.
-I'm gonna have to give spike his own Character ref at some point, but he's this scary looking goth kid that's been held back twice. He's actually super sweet, just really fuckin' quiet and anxious. Him and jazz kinda ended up gravitating towards each other. She might do most of the talking, but they look out for each other.
-its not like jazz doesn't try to socialize, but it's difficult and she's found it much easier and less stressful to just. Keep to herself and let her interactions with her peers stay shallow and superficial. Sure, it's lonely sometimes but it's better than constantly worrying about saying the wrong thing or making some other misstep.
-One of Jazz's other special interests is football, and it's not so much the players or the game as it is the strategy of it? Started out as one of those things you do to bond with your dad, and she ended up getting really into it.
-She absolutley winds up getting into stupidly intense discussions with Vlad about it, too, lmao.
-Her and Danny probably bonded over SBNation bc that shit has both sentient satellites and ridiculously complex football mechanics.
-She's completely oblivious to the fact, but Dash has a massive crush on her bc holy shit this girl understands football (hey bud your toxic masculinity is showing put that shit away)
-I mentioned that Danny was in Cheer for a bit in middle school so it makes sense that she'd also be pushed into doing some kind of extracurricular activity.....so.....she was in a martial arts class for a bit thanks to Maddie and has a good grasp on self defense.
I think that's everything? I feel like I'm leaving things out tho? Idk if I did I'll come back and add on to this later and also pls don't hesitate to ask questions bc it really helps me flesh things out better.

Thoughts on the comic and Skully's Identity. [Slight Spoiler Warning? Not really any plot spoilers just details and characters.]
So a lot of people accept that Jay is probably Skully, either surviving or something else. However there's also speculation that it could be Alex, Jessica, or even Seth Wilson, a few thinking about Tim. (Though I would rule him out as the artist drew what he looked like in the Comic on another post) So I raked out every detail I can. Of course it can all just be a stylistic choice but whatever - make of it what you will.
It could just be some new random asshole, but It's a given they know Jessica, so it is very likely to be Jay. He presumed she was gone, unless he watched the last Entry. That would also explain "It's you" sort of "oh shit" moment. Jay was also set on looking for Jessica, so if he did survive, you could assume that would still be one of his motives. Tim wouldn't likely have that "it's you" moment because he knows Jessica is alive. Alex might have that reaction though. I believe he presumed that she was gone.
It also takes two things from Brian and Tim. The hoodie and the plastic mask. So this person has likely seen both of them and came to imitate their appearance.
Coat Buttons
Tumblr media
The Jacket appears to have snap on metal buttons. It's typical for this style of jacket (similar to a utility jacket, which would be useful and warm to run all over the goddamn woods at night) to have the buttons placed on top of the left side for a men's jacket. (Of course it could just be any person in a men's styled jacket, but still.)
I picked this out because it's paid attention to very carefully as a detail. Of course that's good for continuity, but I know for filming Marble Hornets they were very careful with detail and hinting at things.
2. Height
They're only seen crouching up to a door with Jessica on the other side, but if they both stood straight, they'd come to be about the same height, which was true for Jay and Jessica in the series.
3. You are broken but you CAN be fixed
This is what the masked figure says to Jessica. Similar to ToTheArks video saying Alex was broken, but couldn't be fixed. That might line up with Jay's motives because he continued to think he could solve the situation. It could be argued he also believed Alex could be saved from the Operator. It it were Alex, it could be his own changed perspective in whatever "form" this is now. That would be quite interesting to see why he would go from wanting to destroy the tapes to actively giving someone the tapes.
4. Not a point but something I noticed.
On the Rosswood bulletin, there is a blurry poster that looks like it could be a "Missing" sign. Who for - I don't know, but it does kind of appear they have glasses, so it could be Alex? This could also just be meaningless background illustration.
In the same frame, Adam also talks about people getting lost in the woods and says, "The Majority of them were recovered safely but," and he stops. That's a pretty cliffhanger "but" there Adam.
Tumblr media
Closer inspection of the Rosswood Map shows Rosswood Rd, mentioned in the series, and was supposed to be the road off the usual parking lot they stopped in when meeting up, and an X location to hard to read atm, but it is off the beaten path.
5. In a silly doodle drawing in the comic files, I did notice this poster with a skull on it. It may just be nothing but could also be implying that whoever is in the skull mask died and came back.
Tumblr media
Also I appreciate that the soda is Conk.
6. It's Fall about 10 years later after the first incidents in Rosswood began, in the timeline 2019 ish, but that is apparent from the trees outside and the time the comic was created at.
7. Jessica has a "Sarah" in her phone. Could he literally the millions of Sarah's but I'll point it out anyway. But more interesting barely covered is Tim's contact.
Tumblr media
8. I was thinking about why their seems to be Blue Lenses in Skully's mask, they're even visible from a distance. Now this is really digging at the bottom of barrel but when Jessica grabs the pipe to defend herself, it's highlighted by red for emphasis. Red and Blue have often been a scheme for duelity and such.
This repeats again in the second title page:
Tumblr media
A lot could be discerned from it. Maybe she is Skully, like a second half of her, as one of her nightmares is fighting against herself. May also not mean that and be another symbol of duelity, red vs blue.
I don't think the blue is styling choice because you can quite clearly see eyes in Masky's drawing. I believe there is definitely something covering their eyes - like lenses. Their "fashion choices" are also leaning towards the expensive side I noticed. Unless they just stole it went to a goodwill and got lucky. A utility jacket like that would cost somewhere beyond a $100 unless you're lucky. I'd pay to see a cryptid running around in Gucci in butt-fuck-nowhere Alabama in the middle of the night. Or who knows maybe Alex got some prescription lenses put in that shit.
9. Do I even have to explain the symbolism of a Jay.
Tumblr media
10. I can say with good certainty this probably symbolises Jessica's memory of Alex.
Tumblr media
11. Some damning evidence, whoever is in the mask has access to the original entry files, not just downloaded YouTube stuff. Jay, Tim, Totheark would likely have access to that. Alex was pretty dead-set on having all the traces deleted, I'd doubt he'd have them all uploaded to a computer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
12. No idea what this might represent besides some metaphor for life being a merry go round, but in the postcard Skully is chilling on a horse lmao. "Stuck in a loop of unhappiness." Ring a bell?
Tumblr media
13. Can't attach another photo but the abandoned house Jessica goes to has "Bones" written on it, much like the Hospital did. In the original series they said that graffiti was just there, so maybe they decided to work with it? Who knows maybe it's some kind of new group? Maybe ToTheArk vs "Bones?" You CAN'T be fixed vs You CAN be fixed.
14. I also can't speculate what it exactly means, but it's obvious Skully can talk, not seen previously with the others. Whether out of an inability or just not wanting to. Could be argued it's a person behind the mask by choice, not volition. We also don't really know if Brian chose his path or became that. But he became a masked cryptid after supposedly "dying". We also never see people "die" just assume they have died or are dead and they disappear. Tim implies that it's just feeding off them, physically or mentally. They always die off camera or get fucked off somewhere by the egg head. They appear dead afterwords, with Jay and Brian, but still missing. All of their bodies were taken by the monster and are god knows where in some seperate dimension. This is borderline r/im14andthisisdeep but what is "death" in this series. Does it mean gone permanently or just "gone" ... For an unknown amount of time. People die, but do they stay that way? Or do they die ... In one sense, but not the other, Losing something of themselves from before, and becoming something new. That would awfully explain Brian's behavior after Alex "killed" him. It's also implied there are others apart of ToTheArk that were never shown in the series, suspected to be other members of the original cast who maybe had "died" and come back as someone else. Something broken.
Tim seems to be an outlier. It's presumed he has avoided death, and essentially kept his mentality. But still slips into another form out of his control, usually in response to the monster or the hooded man being near and stealing his pills and shit. Is he between death? Is that why doucheslender follows him? "The one that got away." Istg I don't take drugs.
That was Michael from Vsauce thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
