Like, to outsiders, they're constantly snarking at each other, Eddie spends his lunch being an antagonistic little shit, all the puns in his repertoire are used to the max, and Steve peruses the shelves at Sam Goody and specifically asks Eddie where all the really preppy pop songs are, like forces him to walk the shop with him to show him exactly where they are cause "customer service, Munson, it's important that you treat every customer like a VIP"

They're assholes to each other at every available opportunity, but there's never any complaints put through to management.

Because they're hooking up in one of the back corridor cleaning closets at every available opportunity, it starting when they got locked in there when the power went out and for some stupid reason all the doors in the back corridors have key card readers, like, excessive amount of security considering anyone can wander the halls and Steve knows cause he's let the kids back there so many times,

so with the power out they were stuck.

an Eddie cracks a seven minutes in heaven with Harrington joke expecting Steve to comment about it feeling more like hell being in there with him, but instead Steve is smooth, he's naturally a flirt, he's poking fun in a disarming way, he's charming, and funny, and oh they're kissing.

Okay when I say I can't take Desert Duo angst seriously, that's not strictly true. There is plenty of angst potential for Desert Duo.

Even the very setup of the life series as a concept lends itself to angst. We're talking about a looping death game, here, after all. Everyone you love dies and nobody ever really wins. Over and over again. If we wanna go the Watcher Grian route with things too, that adds even more complex layers of guilt and horror.

The raw emotion of the cactus ring fight is always right there, there is absolutely something so gut wrenching about two people who care so much about each other being forced to fight to the death (grian literally jumped off a cliff afterwards, man).

Lets not forget Grian's constantly present guilt complex in general either, like, y'all think it didn't stick with him that it's his fault they died in Double Life?

And then in this past season, the way the universe literally conspired to keep them apart every single time they tried to draw close to each other has so much angst potential too.

It's not that I can't take any angst seriously with these two, it's that I keep seeing angst scenarios that feel played out and like they don't even really fit all that well.

They can both be snarky and petty, but they like each other. They enjoy one anothers company, they trust each other, they don't hold onto hard feelings, and they keep seeking each other out.

Whenever they talk about past seasons, it's with fondness. They mention the desert with smiles and yearning and small winks between them.

They whine about being scammed and tricked by the other and love to banter but at the end of the day, their snark is always accompanied by giggles.

Sure, they clearly enjoy being together and have a lot of instinctive loyalty, but, for one reason or another, they also don't tend to get jealous. Like. They both flirt with other people all the time, guys, and as I've pointed out before, Scar literally didn't care about the secret soulmates thing.

People keep making desert duo angst where the angst comes from them. From distrust, from anger, from resentment, from distance. But I just don't see it. They're fond of each other, they trust each other, they keep drawing together because they like to be together, and the angst that exists between them comes not from some toxic poisoning element of their relationship, but from the elements that keep pulling them away from each other when they aren't ready to leave.

soukoku scratches such a particular itch in my mind. especially when they interact - two kids who grew up too fast. who indulge in their youth so much more around one another. who laugh and snark and act like teenagers when they're constantly playing twice their age. they bicker and play around with each other, unlike anyone else. they bring out each other's youth and joy, anxieties, their humanity. they mean everything to me.

Delight is loosely inspired by and based on the daughter of Cupid and Psyche in Roman mythology - Voluptas, goddess of pleasure. delight is derived from an english translation of voluptas - so while she isn't literally the goddess Voluptas, she's based around the concept of Voluptas. she can be sweet and personable, but also oblivious and selfish - her defining characteristic is that she's a party animal who prioritizes her idea of fun. as a baby this manifests as being hyper all of the time and constantly wanting attention and play time. but as an adult this manifests in being... Girls Just Wanna Have Fun coded. Pinkie Pie in a blender with Kesha, maybe a dash of Mabel Pines coded. I Just Wanna Party All The Time coded, even.

I honestly never really thought of a potential dynamic for her and the spellementary kids because I was originally planning on having her be a decade younger, so she wouldn't have really known most of them. I did eventually decide that she'd be closer in age, but she'd still be younger by a few years though - so Poof and Foop would be like 4 or 5 when she's born, and it impacts the dynamic she has with them all.

one things for certain - she's basically Poof's annoying little cousin. they're probably* not biologically related, I do think they do basically see each other as family. (*i have a crack theory about cupid and wanda being cousins but i haven't been actively incorporating it into my work so it doesn't count) she was kind of overbearing and overly nosy and in his business so she annoys him sometimes, but he does ultimately care about her - this barely changes once they're adults. at least she grew out of being blunt and uncompromising about it!

Foop would think she's annoying and invasive, and snarks about whatever nonsense she's up to. but he doesn't have to deal with her usually, so he can tolerate her to some degree.

in ANW's continuity, I think their relationship gets more adversarial. he's even more annoyed by her, and she might actively go out of her way to piss him off in passive aggressive but seemingly playful ways.

but in my specific post-canon I think she might have grown on him a bit as she gets less... annoying. but not by much if you ask him.

3. Renarin asks Kaladin for help with radiant stuff during WOR. Secret training. Everyone thinks they're fucking. Chapter 1 and Outline/Meta

4. Elhokar drunk orders kaladin to bedchambers, begs for help keeping away nighmare creatures. Kaladin nearly kills him before scary spren realization, then goes into serious radiant mode when syl gets ambiguously concerned. Everyone thinks they're fucking.[Note: I might be too easily entertained by this trope]. Kaladin is deeply pained by this but also has  people saving thing and really doesnt want to reveal the radiant thing to the whole camp. Earlier third oath. Eventual fucking optional, see above au, except with a bit more pity than vibeing for option a.

5. Crack. AUs 3, 4, and 9 at same time so people just think Kaladin is the Kholin Rhysadium. Bridge 4 offers government overthrow if he's being pressured. kaladin assures them that's not it. Now people keep trying to high five him. Kaladin with head in hands while Moash snarks over his shoulder "you know when i said fuck the lighteyed i didn't -" Kaladin definitely asexual in this one.

6. Hesina and lirin come to shattered planes, shocked/thrilled/emotional to find kaladin. Bridge 4 desperately trying to get approval of [bugs bunny meme our] parents. Lirin reluctantly adopting renarin who wants to learn about healing now for some reason. Blackthorn surgeon mutual loathing/ jealousy son swap hilarity. Lirin is having a time. 

7. Kaladin wasn’t on guard duty the night of szeth arrival. Still warned by syl about assassin, but has to dead sprint while glowing to get across camp fast enough, soft reveal to anyone outside. Only barely figures out wall running on the way over to crash in window just in time. Szeth freaks out and runs away after very short, mildly anticlimatic interaction. And now Kaladin has to deal with Everyone.

8. Kaladin further along in powers during initial szeth fight. Battle of champions degrading to slap fight when they run out of stormlight and get stuck on the plains. Concept/ Ask, Funny Severed Leg

9. Manufactured rumors about adolin/ kaladin. Effective political mudslinging for most of WOR. Shallan plays up things about her relationship with Jasnah to be a more appealing beard. [Previous #9 Is Now #33]

10. Kaladin has a meltdown in prison, breaks out of his cell. Just a little bit more stormlight...Shouts of alarm. Aaah glowing Assassin in white! Kaladin panics more. Adolin handles the situation like a champ. Kaladin maybe briefly kidnaps him.

11. Nale goes after kaladin instead of lift. Ohhh so many thoughts for parallels.

12. Syl immediately dive bombs pattern when kaladin and shallan meet. Really early radiant reveal but just to each other. Kaladin does not trust her but doesn't want to reveal his own status so just watches her super intensely...since she's also constantly watching him too, yes, this gets misinterpreted. See au 3 through 5 but more discreet. Veil is the one draggng him from the barracks for late night 'training sessions' [these are actually training sessions but veil flirts outrageously with kaladin when anyones in earshot. So.] that distracts things a bit.

13. Adolin, suspicious after the Assassin in White fight, was secretly following kaladin at night. Sees him step off a ledge into a chasm (I just reread the section and was like?! You glanced over your shoulder once?!). Adolin spends the whole night stewing in regret, anger, grief, guilt (I was there. I could have yelled. Should have done something. I didn't realize...I didn't know. I didn't know anything). Next morning Kaladin is on guard duty and adolin flips his shit, suddenly remembering that the whole reason he was suspicious of this guy was because he inexplicably survived a several hundred foot drop.

14. Kaladin barely manages to hold it together just long enough to out himself as radiant right after prison. Part One, Part two

15. Kaladin does NOT hold it together after getting arrested.

16. Kaladin swears third oath early. Next few weeks involve a lot of hiding glowing bridgeman squire antics and gaslighting people about kaladin's intermittently light eyes.

17. In the initial confrontation with Szeth, Kaladin pushes a bit harder about the radiants being back, Szeth spirals a bit more, crashing realization that he isn't truthless...

17a.  Earlier radiant reveal: szeth surrenders the honor blade and then immediately collapses into the ground. Kaladin drags him and the blade upstairs. Has to reveal himself now because 1) kaladin what the fuck how and 2) the assassin is mumbling about radiants. 17b ANGST: szeth surrenders the honor blade and immediately kills himself with kaladin's weapons. Kaladin takes honorblade, collapses on way back because it's draining his stormlight, maybe messing with sylbond. When he wakes up hes injured, surrounded by lighteyes and a handful of his men...handles it badly because Very Specific Shardblade Winning Trauma. Crazy two nickles moment. Downside: cries a lot in front of people he'd rather not have cried in front of. Upside: dalinar believes him about amaram now. Public windrunner powers, but obscured Radiant reveal because glowing assassin sword is very clearly granting magic powers. Weird interactions of honorblade bond and nahel bond. Lot of interesting fallout from Dalinar having his very own Mystical Assassin now.

18. Kaladin sends Syl to spy on the 'horneater princess', one sided radiant discovery. When she sends pattern to spy on bridgeboy, he somehow notices. Shallan does not handle it well. 

19. Something something people put together all the impossible stuff Kaladin's done with all the impossible stuff the Blackthorn did as a youth, combined with one of bridge four drunkenly talking about their best theories for the Captains 'mysterious backstory,' combined with Dalinar literally calling Kaladin son and seemingly overnight the warcamps are convinced that Kaladin is Dalinar's bastard child.

20. (COLLABORATIVE with @gnecrognomicon) Instead of being thrown in prison, Elhokar orders Kaladin be strung up for the Stormfather's judgement. Part One, Part Two

21 to 30 Non Words of Radiance AUs

22. Way of kings au where the beggars of alethkar are rounded up for the war effort. Jezrian, of course, ends up on bridge four.

23. Kaladin time travel au to way of kings only the transition is a bit like a spren going through the cognitive to material realm transfer. Not all there. Heartwarming bridge four bonding slightly to the left - sure the mans crazy but he just looks so...disappointed when we dont help with the injured, and he shares his food like an idiot. How does someone seven foot tall and stronger than a chull make axehound pup eyes. We're not following him though. He's not our lead - holy heralds balls is he glowing??  Bit more of a symbol than a friend, but a symbol that you take turns holding at night because he has such bad nightmares and also hes clingy. 

24. COLLABORATIVE / stone soup with @sweetteaanddragons : adolin and kaladin time travel to way of kings. Kaldin brooding about how to escape AND save all his men AND the world until adolin barges in and buys everyone. 

'Thank the almighty,' Kaladin thought with almost painful relief, watching Adolin argue haughtily with a growing swarm of Thadeus's lighteyes. 'I never thought I'd actually appreciate having a rich friend.' He would, of course, rather die than admit this. "I had it handled," he growled, when the two finally managed to speak inconspicuously, each weaving amongst a thousand confused former bridgeman, speaking quietly with several, until they were able to meet in the middle with reasonable subtlety, all things considered. "That's great, Kal," Adolin said cheerfully, clearly not buying a word. "Say, how would you feel about doing some, you know..." He waved a hand, earning a raised eyebrow from Kaladin. "Glowy stuff for my Father," his voice dropped from a subtle hush to a slightly conspicuous whisper. "So he doesn't disinherit me. I did not have permission for this."  Both pairs of eyes flicked to the side, the Blackthorn's towering figure approaching like a Stormwall. "Uh. Sooner rather than later perhaps."

26. Oathbringer/row au. Adolin doesn’t kill sadeus. Mostly just excuse to dunk on Sadeus for trading one (1) shardblade for mythical warrior who can make his own shardblade. oh look more of your former slaves are glowing now. and THEY make shardblades too!

27. Elhokar and Kaladin time travel from Elhokar's death in oathbringer to way of kings. Part one, Part Two

27B. Elhokar solo time travels back from Oathbringer death to Way of Kings

28. Moash tells kaladin about beef with elokhar early. This derails the entire plot of the series. [EDIT, This au was previously #1, before I abruptly realized it was WOK, Not WOR]

31. Szeth kaladin pity fuck time travel au words of radiance. Bridge four roasts the shit out of kaladin. Kaladin is doing everything in his power to avoid implying "knowledge of future" which makes the timeline of their relationship deeply confusing.

32. Szeth kaladin time travel au post book 5, they get their memories back in the high storm right before canon first meeting. Szeth sort of stumbles in, halfheartedly attempting a confused assassination.

33. [EDIT: Previously AU Number 9] Kaladin time travel back to wor, book 5 gone wrong. Deeply terrifying from outsider pov. Captain of the Kholin guard, bridgefour leader, is suddenly Full fourth oath windrunner talking about how humans are the voidbringers, they actually need to support the parshendi in bringing one last controlled desolation, and then kill the heralds and also god. Don't worry not our god. Different god. Our god is already dead. If someone else travels back with him then it swings around to a lil bit funny.

34. Post winds and truth, pre sunlit man, crossover with the twilight of mistborn era 2 (i think the cosmere timeline could make sense but if not, oh well). Kaladin gets a boon from his god(s). Requests to learn more about mental health. Has to go to another planet to do so, because mental health research on Roshar sucks. Scadrial's god seems (relatively) friendly and their planet has developed antidepressants AND wellness seminars. Shenanigans with Very Old Wax and the gang.

35. Jasnah, Dalinar, and Renarin (surviving Kholin Radiants) travel from End of World to right after Gavilar's death. Crack. Outline

Wangxian is that dynamic: Rant Post

I personally think Wangxian is one of the most complete, compelling and near-perfect dynamics to ever be written. Like, think about it. All of our favourite pairings generally include one T (Thinking-type) and one F (Feeling-type), or both Feeling types as they are easier to relate to.

But then you have Wangxian - an ISTJ and an ENTP. Such... annoying personality types.

You have Lan Wangji, who's going to fight your procrastination for you. The guy who's stability personified and Mr. He Is Indeed Better, and then you have Wei Wuxian, who's going to argue his mouth off than take a hint; a little too aware of just how great he is and constantly onto the search for new angles of discovery.

Generally, these sort of personalities are put into the background while an INFP (or whatever) find love. These are the cliche best friends. But never the main leads.

But look at Wangxian!

Look at them being so smart together, sharing the same values. Look at Lan Wangji showing his anger by frosty, cutting words (just a few) or worse... utter disregard for you. The guy's going to glare at you with such frosty chill or go out of his way to ignore you. You're not going to get to him, and it's going to PISS you off.

Then there's Wei Wuxian and it's like...are you getting to him? Or, is he getting to you?? If you argue with him too much about his alleged failure and arrogance and quirks, he's gonna tap into them, and make you feel unstable. He's going to wield his flaws like a blade at you. You're going to just want to avoid him and the snark that filters in through his sunny disposition.

And... look at Wangxian taking the "scientific way" to sex.

"What am I supposed to do?" / I cannot believe I'm asking Lan Zhan for sex advice.

"Relax." / To the point answers only.

Also in the Extra, when discussing their CNC kink they go all the way into the story of how they're going to scene:

"So I'll do this and you resist and then I'll do this."

"Sounds difficult."

"Okay, let's switch positions."

Like... perfection??? Like go, find yourself a partner who's equally as weird as you and have your happy ever after with them: accomplished.

Not just that but the aftermath of the bichen incense burner:

"I have never been treated like this before."

"Mn." (fond smile)

"I'll chop you if you do that again."

"Mn."

Like... how easy is it to communicate ? Without any fears, without any remnant feelings, without guilt - how easily they understand each other.

And not Wei Wuxian showing his love by gifting Lan Wangji a numerous weird things, and constantly talking about exactly what he loves about Lan Wangji. Not Lan Wangji doing every sort of act of service for Wei Wuxian (and Wei Wuxian allowing it), and being calm but not quiet with his words.

"It is as it is" - loving Wei Wuxian is a fact for Lan Wangji, backed up by his actions.

They never go out of their way to think of certain events differently. Perhaps, that's what takes them so much time and 2 life times to get together. Because, hell, it's obvious to us. But you're telling me Lan Wangji wouldn't stand up for anyone who's in the right and framed incorrectly? He totally would. Lan Zhan is just that nice. Similarly, Wei Wuxian is also just that nice.

He took a brand for Mianmian. He couldn't remember her for a minute afterwards. He saved Su She. Twice. He has no idea who Su She is. So, yes. He did a lot of things for Lan Wangji but what is he supposed to be?

I love how their relationship is built upon a pact of no apologies and no thanks. Loving each other isn't a duty, a responsibility or a debt. It is just natural. There's nothing to be repaid. There's only things to discover together.

You don't need to thank me because thanking means you recognize my effort as helping you, but you are not required to - as it is the nature of things. I will help you. You will help me. We will never measure who helps each other more. You don't need to apologize for your actions, because I trust that you will not do wrong unto me. Never by intention.

And, let's talk about how they gravitate towards each other ?? Lan Wangji sitting in Gusu thinking about Wei Wuxian and his lotus seeds and stems theory. Wei Wuxian sitting in Lotus Pier thinking of Lan Wangji. Analyzing every word the other has said, thinking back to all that they have done for each other, lingering not on the pain they have caused each other but the happiness, and you know, that they'll be able to talk about the pain, through the pain, because they are people rooted in the present.

I imagine just how insane it would be for Wei Wuxian, the no golden core until the age of 9 to head disciple to one of the strongest cores to the reason why Yunmeng Jiang win every night hunt event at Discussion Conferences, to lock swords with Lan Wangji and feel, "Ah, this is an equal. This is a new puzzle to be solved. This is a cabbage to be pricked (canon)."

And for Lan Wangji, who's equated insolence and disobedience with poor performance to suddenly come upon someone who appears larger than life, raking up answers and top spots in tests, and duelling as an equal yet never adhering to the rules, finding loopholes and shaking up Lan Wangji's whole dimension.

Another thing I really love is how Lan Wangji isn't, like, his uncle. Or his brother. He isn't his uncle in the ways that he allows himself to break rules when they don't align with the rules he considers superior - his moral calling. His hanguang-jun-ness. He absolutely loves rules; he does; and he loves his stability but he's not afraid to embrace change if it is required.

And, Lan Zhan just isn't his brother. He doesn't like you? Trust, you're gonna know. He thinks you're stupid? It's going to be translated across. He's not going to appease you, or make his presence or his wishes lesser to comfort you. He is his own person (which is so similar to how Wei Wuxian is; like poor boy was punished all the time for being himself, at Lotus Pier by Madam Yu, and yet he never downplayed his talents. He never bowed down.)

And I think it's obvious just how well Lan Wangji knows how worthless words can be if they're not followed with actions. Similarly for Wei Wuxian, he speaks a lot. But he does do what he speak. Protect Jiang Cheng? He will. Fight for Lotus Pier? He will. Protect the Wens? He will absolutely.

Thus, you see, as a couple they will never have to face those sorts of arguments where someone seriously states how they feel about A event but behaves differently when they can do something about it. As a couple they will never have to worry about the other not being themselves. Compromising is one thing - pretense is another. Wei Wuxian compromises and doesn't try to break rules. Understands that he's going to insult Lan Wangji's position by acting out. Lan Wangji compromises and breaks some rules for him. They both compromise and take care of each other's needs and habits to cohabitate together successfully, and at the same time, there's no pretense. No lying. No manipulation. No "I'm fine when I'm not."

Think of them going to night hunts together, with Wei Wuxian's easy brilliance and Lan Wangji's easy dependency. Like that guy, is strong and capable enough to protect Wei Ying. He knows that. Wei Ying knows that. The cultivation world knows that.

Think of how both of them are such healthy adults and loving to children. Lan Wangji isn't a cold dad and Wei Wuxian isn't an irresponsible one. They're both so very capable.

So, my point is - Wangxian is perfect. I will die on this ship.

In particular:

• Despising schizo-spec people for some reason

▪︎Actively trying to trigger schizo-spec people in psychosis despite being told otherwise

▪︎Ignoring their boundaries - being told that they're harming people only to insist that it's good for them

▪︎You can recover from your DID! Not so for schizophrenics, who must always constantly fight to be normal and never give in to their delusions

▪︎You can never have fun with this. No delusion entertaining here! Not like DID/OSDD systems, who make pk profiles for their alters and learn to love their systems with time.

• A sort of tunnel vision directed only at fellow traumagenic systems compared to endogenic systems.

▪︎You're having fun with this disorder? Not possible, you should always suffer... unless you're a traumagenic system, in which you can do anything you want.

▪︎You're not one of us? Pssh, must be an endo

▪︎Obviously your trauma didn't happen if you're a pro-endo traumagenic system, otherwise you would know how bad it is to be this way

• Gatekeeping of alterhumanity and other communities

We've noticed these beliefs seem to appear in tandem with each other to a greater degree than other beliefs- could be wrong, but it's a pattern we've noticed. I'm guessing this behavior is a result of a traumatic cultural Christian-European upbringing? Which makes sense, but I wish they'd unpack that before jumping into syscourse.

I love headcannon that depict Moon and Pearl not getting along. Moon being the instigator of the conflicts. I see poor Pearl babysitting young Moon. Such as taking away her poisons when she being reckless/curious. Or reading her science books at nap time, In which Pearl's mind starts to spin. I can see Dia more as a peace maker between the two. Giving advice to Pearl when Moon is acting up, while Dia can talk it out to Moon when Pearl is being too strict.

Another idea I have is that Moon doesn't understand Dia and Pearl's jokes. She asks too much question and talk about how the joke doesn't make sense in a practical way.

Furthermore, I feel that in Moon's mind she see's both Pearl and Dia within Sun. For Pearl it's his determination, battle skill, and will to get 100,000,000 yen or get a package unharmed. As for Dia, it's his carefree and being empathetic for others such as Tapu Bulu for people building on its sacred land and Kiawe for his struggles to eventually go abroad.

I apologize for the long headcannon, but I really love the topic. I really want to share out my thoughts on Moon interactions with Pearl and Dia.

I love the idea of Pearl and Moon constantly snarking on each other, especially for what we were shown about them. Pearl constantly feels responsible for the others and Moon has always been too mature for her age, so they'll constantly butt heads for who's in command, but in the end they love each other and they'll help where the other has problems.

And as for Dia, he's just too caring and lovable for Moon to make fun of, so I can totally see both her and Pearl going to him for advice on the other when they have a particularly bad fight.

The idea of Moon seeing both of them in Sun is pretty interesting, I hadn't really thought about it, but it does make a lot of sense. Kinda the situation where she can't bother with him at first, but as they're forced to stay together she realizes that "Oh, he's just like them." and finally softens up to him and maybe she realizes she's just like Platinum too.

My girl btw if you even care (Qiu Route OC Intro Post)

Beatrice Callegari (who later goes by Bea, and then Trixie, changing each step) is my obligatory crossover OC. She moved around a lot, but in a small area, spending the last few years before Step One in Prism Vista. She's stubbornly independent, and blames Opal for her not having any friends. She liked the city because she likes loud active places, so the quiet nature of Golden Grove puts her off, and she complains about it constantly, going as far as to refuse to admit when she likes something about it.

She like... hates boys as a kid 😭 LIKE YK HOW LITTLE GIRLS ARE LIKE EWWW BOYS

She feels the need to be better than any boy she meets, so when she meets Qiu and he genuinely impresses her it pisses her off. When Qiu tells her what his name means and she doesn't know what hers means she's like why would you ever one up me like that I hate you. She has a crush on him from the start but it manifests in like a "I hang around him because I need to impress him so he thinks I'm better than him". Qiu doesn't catch on, he just thinks they're hanging out. She gets along fine with Tamarack but they do clash in Step One because she tends to treat everyone like they're less capable, like she parents her friends and it can come across as infantilization 😭

Because of her issues with boys her and Ren beef hardcore in Step One, and she doesn't really understand why it bothers her so much when Qiu sides with Ren over her. She also HATES Baxter but she will heal, trust 🤞

Step Two Bea is a MENACE. She wants so badly to be better than she was, but with Tama and Qiu going through their teen angst phases it basically like annoys her? Like she is trying to be better but she's very emotional and set off really easily. This leads to her having trouble keeping friends because of her trouble keeping her outbursts in check. She does get better at this over the course of the step, but it's basically a consequence of her suddenly deciding she's not gonna be that mean kid anymore.

She is really protective over Tamarack in this step. This causes some issues when Qiu and Tama clash, because Bea does defend Tamarack, but not out of any genuine anger towards Qiu. She just misses the way Qiu used to be and it makes her mad that other people effected them the way they did. This step is also where the majority of healing with Opal happens, which I'm not gonna talk about too much until I can play more of the step.

Also !!!! Her gender journey is effected a lot by Qiu in Step Two. She still uses she/her in Step Two (she's genderqueer and uses all pronouns after this) but she already knows that something isn't right here. She won't say anything because she has this paranoid obsession with the idea that people will think she's 'copying' Qiu due to how small the town is. She goes by Bea because she hates her birth name and figured it'd be easy to explain, but she still doesn't like it.

In Step Three, they go by Trixie. Fun fact this name was actually chosen by Qiu who called her that once as a joke, but she ends up liking it so much she keeps it. At his point he's accepted his emotions as part of him, and reached a sort of healthy middle between letting everything show and repressing until he snaps. This manifests in the form of almost constant snark and sarcasm.

This is the point where he gets into cosmetology. As a baby punk she did a lot of research into things like DIY and upcycling clothes but found she had a knack for cutting and styling hair. They love makeup and dyeing hair but won't dye their own because of the damage it can do to naturally red hair. (Side note, that one pic of those two girls where like one is sitting on the others lap and doing her makeup- that's Trix and Qiu.)

He doesn't give up on his aggressive protective instinct, even if Tama insists she doesn't need to be protected. He gets along a lot better with his mom, and even though he still misses the city a ton, he gets a sort of attachment to Golden Grove. (She's literally like there is one good small town.)

Most of this is open to change as the game comes out, but I am really excited about their character since I don't do OCs that don't like people much, especially their parents.

Hash: He's a trickster shapeshifter, alright? It's a classic for a reason. He's 150cm worth of pure chaos. I mean, he literally named himself after Hash browns, outlived the rest of his species by dint of being kicked out for being too irritating, and insists on a fake accent.

Iraela: Evil. Pure evil. But very dramatic. She rules in an evil castle and is permanently two steps from belting out a musical number. She's constantly on the verge of a mental breakdown, complete with shattering mirrors, and ate her fiancé :)

Katherine: The ultimate little shit. She is unafraid to snark at her vampire teacher, then bully the Fae who served her a gelato. She's also protective of her apprentice, and not evil. (Which is saying something compared to the others on this list)

Dave: He is just such a vibe. Bro is a fairly ancient vampire, looks like he stepped off a romantasy novel and works 12h shifts at a cornerstore where he has to mop dead exorcist blood off the floor. He just wants to get through the day, but the world is very against that plan.

Luna: She's basically a high school mean girl who never grew up, if a high school mean girl could mind control people and ruled over a cult. Her one braincell is dedicated to fashion, and she basically blunders through the plot of her novel, doing the right things for absolutely the wrong reason.

What's your ideal maulsoka dynamic? Corruption? Obsession? Revelation of truths?

Hmmm, obsession definitely, I do think that's fun. Mild "I can make her worse" with casual "I can't make him better so I won't bother trying". A lot of petty bickering; frenemies who still kind of hate each others' vibes but in an "only I get to fuck with this person" kind of way. Neither of them going whole hog into either side because they're both determined to dive headfirst into their preferred direction, but they're handcuffed/holding hands so tightly while not looking at each other that their momentum cancels out and they're just stuck directly in the middle making zero headway on either end. Big "Regina and Emma on Neverland in season 3 of OUAT, constantly being mean and catty but determined to accomplish the same goal for the same reason" energy.

IDK just none of that predator/prey, grand plan manipulator/helpless blind victim, redeemed by the power of love and the Light Side stuff.

If anything I want bitchy sitcom plots, constant power struggles but only in stupid petty ways, I'd follow them into hell (complaining the whole time) but god I wish they'd stop going there, saved by the power of spite and this gun I found. Remember their fight on Mandalore where they're just snarking at each other, no holds barred, but not actually managing a solid hit?

I want that but they're doing it so much that it confuses everyone around them about who's even in charge of annoying the Empire anymore (and also their forces start picking sides during stupid arguments about who has better battle plans)

Yes the other two could do it (Kazuha's leaf and Venti's lyre) but Aether's constantly humming a tune that no one knows and Xiao has song ideas that Aether does

Scara is the rapper

Heizou is main dancer

He's a phys catalyst, the boy can kick and I bet he'd be really good at dancing

Hope you're alright! I went and rewatched the babe ruth/bazanka video again after your post abt it and its just soooooo. They're SO impressed with each other from the start!! If you watch a lot of Amanda's appearances before that point, she's generally really good about not breaking (v professional) but the whole video she's just. Breaking to make comments on how good Angela is doing or to poke her character. And Angela's FIRST character video and having someone like Amanda constantly hyping her up... gaahhh. Sorry this isnt really a question, although if you have further thoughts on that vid, love to hear them 👀

i'm doing a little better, thank you <3 youre so right though, that video was insaneeeee, i didnt lie when i made a post about it being like shourtney's 'see you at work' moment. and going back and watching it again is just.. like it makes me emotional almost cause thats where amangela started you know? :,) im so chill and fine about that video and obviously its really funny and stuff but i always end up fixated on amangela cause like u mentioned, you can see them discover each other in real time. like learn each other's humour, literally watch each other commit *so* hard to a bit. and i think that where the admiration comes from yk? from recognising themselves in each other. like hey- you're just like me, you're the same. a lot of that comes from having done acting i think, specifically character work and that's something (through my very much external goggles) they can relate on.

the fact that angela describes seeing amanda get into her babe ruth character before the video and commit so hard that she decides to just go for it too is so.. like i dont think amanda expected anyone else would go that hard, that's why her 'you're insane' is so multidimensional cause not only is she saying 'you're insane' to the demon girl character (who is rightfully so), but also to angela beneath the surface of of like 'you're insane for doing this, for committing so hard, for the hilarious shit you're saying'. and angela's 'so are you' is not just snark from her character, it's also a jab at amanda because she's committing just as hard, because she's just as hilarious. i really do think that's where their admiration for each other started- i like what u mentioned about amanda being supportive & encouraging- its so nice to have someone in your corner when you're being insanely silly for the entirety of the internet to see. what's nicer is when someone gets just as silly as you <3
