a thought process I just had:

-> 1. in the best faith possible, I can see why people would have a problem with trans characters always being portrayed as addicts. trans addicts are a real and vulnerable group who deserve representation in fiction as much as anyone else, and I am suspicious of people who want to distance themselves from substances users, but yeah the complete eliding of the two groups is not great.

-> 2. and yeah, tma only has two canonically trans characters (maybe four depending on how you read it), but alexia crawley isn't an addict, at least not to the audience's knowledge.

-> 3. and there are other addict characters who aren't trans. unless...

-> 4. trevor herbert crusty old trans man

-> 5. I think I just reinvented damian from thirteen storeys

Jonny sims either names his characters the most basic ass names he can think of, or names them as if they are newly out gen z enbies renaming themselves after inanimate Objects or vague philosophical concepts
