I love you looney tunes. I love you animaniacs. I love you indie video games. I love you paul ruddish mickey mouse. I love you spongebob. I love you undertale. I love you spiderverse. I love you ENA. I love you Cuphead. I love you anime. I love you sam and max. I love you who framed roger rabbit. I love you cartoon network. I love you sonic the hedgehog. I love you 2YK online kids games. I love you rubberhose. I love how rubberhose is such a timeless style of animation that has evolved with animation as a medium and is able to incorporate itself into so many genres and it's so sad to me how people genuinely don't appreciate it and how it's often brushed off and coined as just "old and creepy" when it's so much more than that. It's so much more than that and it's everywhere in animation and it truly is timeless and I wish people realized that.

Chapter 5 of Nidome no Jinsei: Animator by Gaku Miyao, 2018.
MyAnimeList.com entry:
Tada Ayumu is a completely normal 58-year-old salaryman. His daughter, who loves anime, is about to get married to a man who also likes anime, and Ayumu feels distant from them because he has no interest in the medium. Suddenly, he time slips 40 years into the past, back to his 3rd year of high school! One of his classmates happens to become a famous animator in the future, and so Ayumu begins animating with him.
(Source: Shonen Gahosha, translated)
I scanned through some Japanese blogs, and from what I can tell, this manga is apparently somewhat of an autobiography of Gaku Miyao (though I may be wrong). It talks about becoming an animator in the 80s, and Yohko Mano from Devil Hunter Yohko (arguably Miyao's most famous work) is actually one of the main characters here.

New getter brain worms have been so bad and I haven’t even finished a rewatch with my friend or the damn au fic I’m working on but I’m still baffled people said “It LoOkS bAd” and so tempted to do compilation of some of its best chronographic animation even if I’ll be stirring a pot- which I don’t want but man I’m so sick of the art style slander when it has one of the most unique styles I’ve seen in a show. Just because it’s stiff most of the time or can’t be in a higher resolution doesn’t mean it can’t look good or have some great animation every so often because it sure as hell does and I’m sick of pretending it doesn’t!

comfort faves!
tagged by @imlorelai (I love this ask theme! comfort!)
comfort movie: pride and prejudice (2005)--apparently it's not streaming anywhere at the moment which is hella rude.
comfort food: orange tofu with rice from a restaurant near my old apartment. my homemade comfort foods are either the stew or creamy farrow with crispy mushrooms and sour cream.
comfort clothes: my crewneck sweater collection acquired during peak lockdown. I have an unhinged number, but I love them all.
comfort song: kiss me by six pence none the richer (it's been my ringtone for 14 years, not that I have the sound on, but still). I love me some 90s indie/alt.
comfort book: meg cabot's books are always a comfort and I'm due for a cozy persuasion/pride & prejudice reread. I need a better reading spot for peak comfort and concentration (I miss my old reading chair 😔)
comfort game: do puzzles count? because, puzzles.
tagging: it's hypothetical sunday night (new year's day observed), so I'm tagging anyone who's in sunday scaries mode and wants to think about comforts instead!
