Tell the truth comic fans challenge. When's the last time you read a comic and how many have you actually read?

P.S. This isn't me being gatekeepy btw I'm being genuine because I'm gonna be honest I've probably only actually read about five series and every thing else I've gotten from movies/series, online, or fanon. I know all the important events. Have I actually read them? No because my ADHD just wouldn't. And I can't be assed having to read important events if it's in a shit run by a bad writer.

I've waxed lyrical before about the significance of beaches in OFMD a lot and now on my S2 rewatch, that theme is powerful. It's the place where the land and the sea meet, where two binaries overlap and blend together, where two worlds collide.

The fact that Stede and Ed's first kiss happens on a beach is So Much because Ed was told by Chauncey that "he's from my world, not yours". Here they are, caught somewhere between their worlds, not quite part of either anymore. (also, ware the Symbolic Sky! It has meaning)

Ed faces another big life choice right by that same place. He could have run on his own, but instead, this is when he returns to the ship, sliding back into the well worn rut that has been his life for decades. He tries to change it, but it doesn't end well.

And of course, the very next episode, Stede's own struggle with himself and his identity is (partially) resolved and he takes his first steps into his new life on a beach as well.

ngl, I adore the fact they started S2 with Stede on a beach again. There's an element of him trying to make up for his departure in 1x09. Ed told him to meet him at the beach and in their reunion, in Stede's wishful fantasy, not only is it a beach, but at a romantic golden sunset.

More significantly, they meet right on the tideline, where sea and land meet, the boundary between the two places. Not on the dry sand. Not in the sea. Right in the middle. Two worlds colliding again :)

The fact we jump from Stede's dream to Stede running to a real beach to write his letters and send his love out into the waves makes me think all his time spent at the beach is him trying to make amends again for the leaving Ed waiting for him on the beach alone.

Then we get into the metaphysical in Ed's purgatory, where Edward Teach, born on a beach, is found washed up on the tideline. Boundaries, liminal spaces, places that are both there and not. A perfect image of a space between living and death for a man who spent a life at sea.

Two conversations there also happen on the beach:

- Ed trying to get some kind of reaction about the stuff he's done and trying to articulate (but not aloud) that he feels bad about it - Ed realising exactly where he is and the choice ahead of him and how his actions impact on it

I'm a bit uncertain whether the fisherman sequence is a sea channel or a river, but either way, Ed ends up standing on the bank, contemplating life-stuff again (and compares himself to a wave again). He does end up on the water's edge a lot, whether on the shore or on docks.

And now we get to the big one - when he stops running from himself and chooses to reclaim his leathers and fight for the man he loves, where else could he emerge but at the place where boundaries blur and binaries are lost in the seafoam?

There's so much going on with the symbolism of Stede throwing his love in the sea and Ed doing the same with fears/hopes, but this moment, when Ed has reclaimed what he cast aside and emerged from the sea, determined and ready to act, Stede's love is there waiting for him 😍

Something something both of them meeting in the same space, but it's a space with no boundaries or blurring or misunderstanding, because they're both finally on the same page (and also not a super wet beach so Rhys wouldn't hurt his ankle again 😅)

Got to say given the significance of the beach in the Gravy Basket and this being almost exactly the same beach, I Am Sus, especially re. Izzy's fate. (Yes, I know, filming here was a technical thing, but I am always sus with a show with canon resurrections, ghosts and purgatory)

And, of course, the final beach, where Edward Teach is reborn to try and live how he wants to live instead of how life tells him to. Will it go smooth? Of course not. But they're gonna give it a go and still be close to that place that was home as well.

And last, but by no means least, this shot.

An over the top and in depth analysis on the rottmnt Family medic candidates, and in what order I’d place them to be in as the most suitable medics(real: Splodge sucks at writing short titles)

I’m not usually one for making hcs outside of the known canon, but there are lots of hcs in rottmnt that i love/absolutely agree with. I’m not sure about this one, i don’t feel there is a fixed medic in the family, but it does make sense ngl.

I’m gonna analyse each family member to tell which ones would be the best to fit the role of medic(or replacement Medic).

Raph: Raph would be very likely to become stressed even if someone skinned a knee slightly, or go over the top if one of his family members were injured(not really a bad thing, but it could make them uncomfortable). He wouldn’t be a great medic, not only because of his obviously larger and therefore more clumsy hands, but also because you have to stay calm, or at least be able to keep a cool head when you treat wounds, especially if they’re bad. Raph is in my opinion probably the worst candidate for a medic in most situations, though he could be good if he stays calm and is careful, as he is very motherly and he would probably be good at looking after someone while helping them.

Leo: Leo is as far as I’m aware the most popular candidate for medic in the fandom, and I do see why. He is smart enough to learn something if he wanted to or felt the need to, and he is the best at manipulating others into thinking he’s calm or laid back even in the worst situations. He’s pretty neat in his own way and would probably be able to make whoever he’s treating be so annoyed they don’t even care about being wounded(/pos/j). He’s likely to do it correctly, unlike his other family members, all more likely to go over the top or not know what to do.

Donnie: Donnie was at first my most logical option, but I realised the flaw in this quite fast. Though he’s very smart and no doubt has excellent knowledge in lots of Things, his interests are mostly in technology(that can be useful in certain medical situations, to be fair), and even though it’s likely he knows in theory how to treat wounds, he easily gets nauseous(as seen, especially in the film, a couple times when he feels sick at seeing certain slimy gooey stuff(unspecified to avoid spoilers). Also, agin like with Raph, he might go over the top, and not just because he cares about his brothers but also because he seems like exactly the kind of guy to be a bit of a hypochondriac.

Mikey: Mikey might be a good medic ngl. At first I thought obviously not, but I realised he might not be that bad. He could probably learn medical knowledge(with a bit of difficulty probably), even if his attention span seems a bit short, and other than knowledge, he might be quite a nice caretaker to have. He’s cheerful so you are likely to feel less stressed, and I bet he has a ton of colourful plasters. If the injuries aren’t very bad, Mikey would be a great medic, and the main reason I’m saying if they’re not bad is because he’s pretty young(to be fair not a lot younger than his brothers, but still young), and learning medical knowledge takes time and a good concentration is definitely a plus(which Mikey doesn’t really have). He’d probably be a pretty bangin’ therapist though.

Splinter: Oof. I’m not sure actually. I know that splinter at least at the beginning is pretty neglectful, but he would definitely try to help his family if they needed it, we all know that. The problems I see are that firstly, similar to Raph, he doesn’t seem to handle stress all that well. And secondly, the boys are likely to injure themselves doing something they weren’t supposed to, so they wouldn’t go to ask him for help.

April: I’m a little surprised that April doesn’t really appear as a medic in any fics/hcs. She would, in my opinion, be a pretty good one. She’s a little impulsive, but that’s mainly when it comes to battle, and she would probably be the smartest if it weren’t for Donnie. As far as I’m aware she doesn’t get nauseous as easily, and she can definitely act fast and smart even in dangerous/stressful situations. She probably won’t go over the top or … under the top I guess, and she’s a great improviser, probably would be able to patch someone up on the spot if needed.

In conclusion, I think that even though Medic Leo isn’t a bad hc, I think medic April makes more sense. The order I would put them in would be:

I think my first-ever legit rp muse was Herbert West (Re-Animator) and once upon a time, I didn’t really have the urge to write other characters (can’t you even imagine ME writing ONE character now, lmao). The first OC I really got into was my dude Gideon Brady, so he was my favourite for years—Then I found my way to Supernatural and Dean Winchester was the most at-home I’d probably ever felt in ANY muse ever to that point. Probably stayed that way until some time in 2023. I’ve created dozens of ocs and even quite a number of canon muses since then, but late last year I started writing Brian (Brain Damage) and Aylmer (Brain Damage) and I became very attached very quickly; around the same time, I decided to explore my under-used oc Derward (created c. 2022) and I find he’s easiest to write at this particular time in my life. I also enjoy playing Wonka a whole lot—because he’s so positive and optimistic—but it’s been brought to my attention that Derward and I share a lot of similarities—Which, I suppose, explains why he's become my default muse these days.

2. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, what do you like to listen to?

Yes, I listen to music about 50% of the time that I write. A lot of 80s pop, rock, and new wave ngl. But there's other kinds I listen to, of course. The rest of the time I watch movies while writing… I know, you’d think it would distract me from the text, but most of the time films get me in that creative zone with any combination of setting, music, story, cast, etc.

10. Do you like stylized icons and formatted text or do you prefer to keep things simple?

To quote Slugworth— “A good chocolate should be SIMPLE. Un-complicated.” I will admit I have a hard time reading/seeing (highly) formatted text. Bold, italics, colours, and certain fonts; those are all find by me. As for stylized icons… What’s even the point? Frankly, it’s lost on me. A visual should be just that. Any image or gif that takes interpretation in order to figure out what’s being presented doesn’t really belong… as it serves no purpose to enrich either the details of the narrative or the muse being portrayed. Granted, this is only my personal opinion. If stylized iconography somehow makes your creative juices flow, fellow writers... go for it. You do you. The rpc should always be an inclusive place.

14. What are five of your favorite ships? (In the rp community or otherwise)

Call me biased or indecisive af, but I hold all my ships dear. Romantic or platonic. I just love all my ships- as well as my shipping partners. Lil' shout out to @cvpidswings, @everyoneismytoy, @smolcuriouskitten, @rawbutprecious, and @frcsttitan. Everybody else I ship with, love you too.

'nother lil' shout to @cursedvessels and @miidnighters—Shimi and Callisto are one of my favourite duos in the rpc atp and I love reading about their joint antics. A canon ship I love is Zed and Addison from Zombies.

Difficult to say... I don't find myself defining any of my muses by type. If I had to take a guess, I'd say kindhearted people with emotional trauma? Again, IDK.

16. Do you like to queue your replies or just post them when you finish?

I'm a slow writer, so I usually post when I've finished a draft. I already keep people waiting a while for a reply due to my inherent speed, so a regular queue would just make things even slower.

17. Do you prefer winging it or plotting everything out?

It just depends on the situation in the rp; during a lot of threads, I do well with a mix of winging it and plotting. 90% of the time, though, it's winging it. My muses are all control freaks in that they're usually more cooperative when I don't involve myself XD

20. If you could tell your muse something, what would it be?

Derward hasn't felt much love in his life, or support. He isn't the type to give up in any situation, but he probably really needs to hear that he's both wanted and needed. I think little compliments would serve him well, too. Maybe tell him that he's cute or that his hair/clothes are nice. He wouldn't always believe me about his clothes, 'cause he tends to wear tattered stuff throughout his various verses, but... If I could give him a big hug, I would. I'd give him a nice smooch on the cheek, too. Maybe wrap a blanket around his shoulders. That said, he should allow himself to put his burdens down from time to time. He's strong, and he knows this. What he doesn't know, however, is that he CAN be weak. He CAN be vulnerable. I would, hopefully, convince himself to free himself of such pressure. Dude needs a good cry five minutes ago.

I'm SO sorry this has taken so long also!! but I have been thinking very hard about what their movie picks will be. ngl I don't think I'm enough of a movie person to like, pick specific movies but I've been thinking about Vibes

jamie is just like, impressed by movies in general, especially in s4. so he'll go for basically anything that the rest of the gang put on. especially since a modern/futuristic real-world setting is likely to be just as unfamiliar to him as scifi/fantasy setting! he probably doesn't always distinguish them super clearly because some of the scifi stuff is closer to his actual experiences ghfdkj. I feel like he'd quite like comedies/more light-hearted stuff though? & some action stuff/jumpscare-y horror is just a no-go because he's not super used to non-live media making noises on its own, and sudden loud noises/being suddenly scared doesn't always play nice with his trauma. he'd just rather avoid it. also I feel like he'd really like documentaries!! he's super curious about everything and it's a nice way for him to absorb information through auditory processing which he's good with/used to and without the issue of learning to read. sometimes he'll disappear for a bit and the others will end up finding him curled up on a sofa watching a documentary on the most random stuff

two also has super eclectic taste but in a more out there/esoteric way. he claims he just has super refined taste when the others won't watch some artsy 12-hour martian epic with him (and then falls asleep or wanders off like, half an hour in because he doesn't actually have that sort of ability to sit still). he will put on the weirdest alien stuff that's totally incomprehensible to everyone else though. but he's also into like, silent comedies. he's such a chaplin-esque character, how could he not be (though he denies any similarity to himself!). and he's more into fantasy than hard scifi - it's impossible to watch any sort of serious scifi with him unless you want to hear a constant commentary on the inaccuracies in it. (by series 6 jamie has picked up on this habit, albeit with his much more limited knowledge. zoe finds this super disconcerting).

ben is absolutely the instigator of two and jamie's comedy enjoyment. he's Also a silent comedy guy. but I think he'd like action/adventure films as well? he's got like, a whole host of them that he really loves and is always trying to get the others to watch. I feel like he's the biggest movie watcher of the tardis team honestly, like going to the cinema was something he did a fair bit pre-canon? maybe it's something he did with his father while he was still alive, so he has fond but kind of bittersweet memories of it. & tbh I feel like being interested in the heroes as well as the love interests was part of his bi awakening. so he'd be the one pushing for the movie nights to happen, and maybe also more inclined to pick out alien/futuristic stuff than polly is, because he wants to see what else is out there.

polly is probably the one who comes the closest to appreciating two's more esoteric movie picks?? like they're not necessarily her favourite thing but she'll sit down and watch them with him. it's bonding time for them. they paint each other's nails and hang out. I think she'd also like kinda film noir/darker stuff. juuust enough that two and jamie like to tease ben about how many films she watches where the wife kills her husband. (ben takes it in pretty good humour. he's a wife guy like that he would support polly for this). also she's a bad romcom watcher in the sense that she likes to yell at the screen about all the dumb decisions the characters make, why the main couple wouldn't work out, that sort of thing. it's stress relief for her. she gets the others into it and the four of them sit there shouting like they're watching a sports game

bc of that i kinda like to think that they r both. unwell sleepers if that makes sense? Dont sleep enough. Royce sleeps naturally very little and dum dum keeps up w him. We doo see dum dum usually just hanging about, lounging, I can totally imagine him taking mininaps constantly, eyes flickering from time to time, head nodding. Snapping 2 awakenness suddenly when Royce starts speaking again.

ive looked at some rotations of dum dums model and some of his bodymods are DEFINETLY more just aesthetic than functional.. at LEAST his upper lip rings. Those r trditional piercings. Probably also is chin metal n much of the stuff around his mouth. Again im not technically adept and Idk what the designers were going for, but I'd love to think that also the cored part around his neck, where they've just taken a part around his spine and replaced it w a dent of metal, is fully appearences, just bc its so extreme and interesting. He likes his bodymods he enjoys the process!!!! Perhaps he even enjoys the care that goes into them, bodymods that heavy must require a lot of care.

I dont. think he has tattoos in his final design right? og dumdum had the tats? Though i do love to think that he got tattoos when he was younger but most of them have just gone through being torn apart by his later bodymodifications. Maybe he has some shitty stick & pokes somewhere thatd be cute. bonding w the boys.

Has a lot of CASUAL friends in the maelstrom but it never gets fully to the level of found family/genuine friends. Yes they have a lot in common, yes he spends all his time w them, but it often feels surface level to him, and "unreal". Hes found a more profound connection in Royce, but i feel like his admiration is a little one sided, and that he realizes it? But is like. whatever this is still nice.

dehydrated, forgets to eat and eats like shit when he does eat. Loves carbs and sugars. Possibly caues some of his exhaustion.

He kinda plays up his emotional outbursts!!!! He isnt that angry. He does it to assert dominance in a very outbursty enviroment. If he was in a chiller enviroment you could actually mess w him quite a lot and hed just laugh and mess back w you.

Dum dum prolly drives some kinda rly shitty van most of the time, just bc hes usually hanging out w so many people. Big driver in general!!! main comics continuity: taking pre-crisis/post-crisis/new-52/rebirth/whatever as one canon, because it... technically is? although it makes zero sense lmao.

honestly... the more I think of it, the more I'd say I don't have an OTP for it. I can love a relationship in a run, and I certainly have soft spots for a few chosen ones. generally speaking, the legacy romances in DC have Good Shit TM to offer. but the very nature of comics -the inconsistencies, the retcons, the rotating writers with wildly different agendas (not to mention grudges against specific characters), make it so I can't really point at one (1) relationship and embrace it wholeheartedly LOL.

if I have an OTP it's Jason Todd/Good+Interesting Writing, and although I've definitely seen it around, it eludes me just as often xD

Batman - Wayne Family Adventures: lowkey Barbara/Jason which is. LOL. but. see #53, #95, #96, and #104. The plot in 95-96 in particular made me want to write a more grounded+complex version of it.

Dark Knights of Steel: an elseworld run I finished recently. not heavy on romance but Clark/Lois was cute in it (with bonus bondage xD).

DC Bombshells: it's been a really long time and I was up for anything that run threw at me, but I particularly liked Kate/Renee, from what I remember. Tragedy + exes... lovely.

Red Hood - Outlaws: (I know technically there's some overlap in the webtoons but considering them the same canon, especially this one, just... nope. impossible xD). Artemis/Jason FTW.

Zatanna & the Ripper: Constantine/Zatanna is quite good.

ANIMATED WORKS

Batman - The Brave and The Bold: what little I remember of this involves Bruce/Selina being delightfully flirty lol.

DCAU/Timmverse: Clark/Lois. I liked what I saw of others (with caveats regarding certain... choices lol), but STAS is the only one I watched in its entirety and they were delightful.

Harley Quinn: Harley/Ivy. that show has made some shitty choices but they are good lol.

My Adventures with Superman: Clark/Lois, although I wish they were given more room to develop with depth.

Young Justice: DICK/ZATANNA. ngl, I think Chalant is one of the best ships DC has put out which, taking into account how little time and room to breath it had? Remarkable.

Arrowverse: kind of a hard pick given the givens but I have the biggest soft spot for Angelique/Ryan from Batwoman.

Batman Returns: Bruce/Selina obviously. I haven't watched any of the other films in the series, but I know they wouldn't change my mind LOL.

Gotham: BEST BATCAT EVER.

Lois & Clark, The New Adventures of Superman: Clark/Lois, obviously.

Nolanverse: I got a lot of misgivings on this one, sure, but I do enjoy some self-indulgent Bruce/Selina here as well.

i'm gonna skip the wci arc as i already talked about it, just as a general note in my canon pudding erases a whole lot memories of her from sanji's mind. while she's affectionate toward him, she has no romantic feelings. her crying in the hallway happens because by that point she's quite literally the only traitor left on the island - she can't escape because bm needs her for her powers but also knows the woman won't be so kind about the disrespect

technically they're still married. it doesn't matter as it's not like they'll get together at any point but since divorce as an institution doesn't exist, there is this loose end. pudding will never mention it as she believes it's not relevant to her life choices. doesn't want to be referred as vinsmoke or black leg for that matter, mention those names to her and she will stare blankly pretending not to know who that is. she will however take a page from sanji's book and give herself a brand new last name at some point after finding the one piece

i know fandom loves to pit women against each other but i think pudding would lowkey push nami into pursuing sanji eventually. in her mind they seem good for each other in a way that doesn't feel like trauma bonding, you know. as a matter of fact i think pudding and nami would be good friends and she'd be someone pud trusts during her time with the SH

pudding has the habit to be in places she shouldn't be, except that nothing of what she does is random and it's her fatal flaw. she crosses paths with the SH plenty of times after finding the one piece, mostly because they always get in trouble and she's traveling around following the voices. does she keep tabs on them? possibly. she considers them allies, so in most cases she will lend an helpful hand and then dip before they can get all mushy on her

on that note... i headcanon that while no romantic feelings are involved due to pudding making sure all those memories are cut and hidden away, throughout the years she and sanji meet up to have ONE (1) dinner to catch up and then everyone is on their own way. it probably happens once a year, they cook things, share and swap recipes, stuff like this. pudding will never talk too much about her business - she might be reformed but a part of her will always dabble in the darkness as it's part of the balance of all things. she will however give him leads about treasures she's heard of. [ when i think of them i imagine the song bells in santa fe, ngl ]

speaking of memories, pudding still has the film from sanji's memories. whether she gives it back or not eventually is up to plotting, but generally speaking i think she'd rather not for the fact that then they'd have to talk about... everything, which is not really something she wants to do. while she hasn't used memo memo on him since then, she can hear him loud and clear through her third eye powers and absolutely hates it. she probably told him too!

if wci / final arc pudding is more akin to alice in terms of character development, post op pudding is lowkey the cheshire cat. the more years pass the more different she looks. it's a good type of change even though it basically makes her look like an hermit most of the time. on a good day she might be sentimental enough to share some wisdom with him on whatever occasion they cross paths. she loves to speak to him in riddles just to mess around and that's really the only sign of her teen self left

post op pudding has a vivre card, and it looks like a queen of hearts card from any deck. she's given sanji a piece of it mostly because "you can never know" but also told him to not pester her, so you see where she stands. she is however always available through den den mushi for serious talks or mildly tough advices

at some point pudding has written a children's book called tales from the all blue which are basically a collection of stories she's heard from sea creatures. at the very first page there's a dedication that says may our dreams carry us throughout the darkest times. this is probably the most openly affectionate she's been toward him

1)Saber Special Chapter:OT4 vibes this ep were great, quite large.

Then there's whatever the hell was happenning beteeen Touma and Zox.

2)Zenkaiger episode 20:the Shindais really mesh better with the Zenkaiger cast.

They work better as the Comically Serious rather than whatever the hell sorta roll they had in Saber since Ryoga's introduction.

3)SUPER HEROOOOOOOO SENNKIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!:It was a much better watch this time, because I downloaded it rather than watching on Kissasian, where it was uploaded with the audio of the aid for the blind version.

I did not enjoy that it ignored the Special Chapter and Zenkai Ep 20, acting like the Riders didn't meet Zox and the Shindais didn't meet the Zenkaigers.

Kento should have worked alongside Red Racer in the Final battle, to show he did interact with the Carrangers when he was sucked into their book.

1- Special Chapter was a hoot from start to finish. The shenanigans was sublime XD It was also some much needed comedy right before shit went down in the Saber main plot.

Also, Rintaro being Kento's inflatable cow...

KenTouma was probably the best part of the episode... or was it ShuichiRyo? Sometimes I can't tell anymore. One of them posted a video on Tiktok where they were in costume but not on set, and they were... uh, very affectionate.

There were also these videos on Toei's YT for the tie-in with Superhero Senki where the Saber cast were competing against each other in a laser tag-type game. Ryo Aoki captained one of the teams and when he named Shuichiro for his first pick, Shuichiro squealed and ran at him to glomp him. It was wonderfully gay of them.

2- Yeah, the Shindai sibs were definitely way better in the Zenkaiger crossover in their own show. Ken Shonozaki clearly had a lot fun playing off of the Zenkai cast's shenanigans, and Angela Mei's enthusiasm for Magine was self-evident.

3- Well, the Special Chapter and the Zenkaiger episode were always meant to be their own thing, not really tying into Senki. Most of the Spring crossover specials, back when they were a thing, were like that too- none of them really tied in to the Taisen films.

Yeah, it was a little disappointing that they didn't show what happened to Kento after he got sucked into the Carranger book... though that already had some other stories mixed in as well- Drive and Black, iirc. I'd like to think he was actually in that other world where he, Luna and Touma all grew up together, and where his dad was alive- which would explain his resistance to Touma returning things to the "normal" world. (Also, Ryo was so damned handsome in that sequence... I was simping the whole time)

Tbf, it also wasn't shown what happened to the other Zenkaigers aside from Kaito after they disappeared either. And Zox just shows up out of nowhere, lmao.

Honestly them including Ishinomori-senshu in this movie was kind of a brilliant move, and seeing his interactions with Touma and Hongou-san made me cry a little, ngl.

Also. Saber roll call scene. Fuck me, why don't they do this in Rider more often. It was amazing.

4- I didn't actually watch the Revice short movie, but from what I gathered it's not canon to the show because it and the first episode contradict each other in terms of how Ikki got his powers.

I was tagged by dear, sweet @nemo-my-name-forevermore to participate. I have many ocs to chose from (7 to be precise) but I’ve got many on my mind at all times so it’s hard to chose just one. That said I’ve chosen 3 to do today. It will be broken up into three parts (one for each character) so y'all aren't scrolling for centuries.

Faline Brookes

Faline is my RE Village OC

Seasoning: Rosemary. In the sense that she is good at making something better. Common and can be easily overlooked or taken for granted by many but when put in the proper environment, she thrives.

Weather: Believe it or but cloudy with a light drizzle; nice and peaceful.

Color: Earthy colors are in her typical color palette due to the lack of dye in the village but Teal is not only her favorite but represents her the best. According to a quick google search Teal represents calmness, balance, renewal and morality. A well intended but reserved color - perfectly suited for her gentle and shy nature.

Sky: Foggy Autumn morning.

Magical Powers: If we’re going off her canon story, she has regeneration, and telekentic abilities. Bend and move things at will - including herself. Makes helping out in the factory convenient.

House plant: Lillies and buttercups. Similar to color association, Faline does’t have a chance to have a proper lush garden or have access to huge open fields to wander through as she sees fit. However lillies are among some of her favorites both in what they represent but by their overall appearance as well. And I say buttercup because of the adorable pet name Heis refers to her as. It’s one of many but Faline is quite attached to flower now.

Weapon: Crossbow if not in the canon universe. If it is, her abilities & ( if truly needed) a gun.

Subject: Psychology; Faline enjoys watching and understanding things such as human behvaior and body language.

Social Media: Probably Instagram?

Makeup Product: Eyeliner and Mascara. She feels naked without it.

Candy: Dark chocolate & Raspberry Truffles. She loves the combination so much. She doesn't get to indulge in sweets often but when the Duke is able to get a supply of it, she will hoard it. Not even Heis can have from her stash.

Fear: Due to her history of abuse from family members she is terrified of history repeating itself. Although it took some time, trial and error and mishaps Heisenberg eventually was able to help Faline feel comfortable.

Ice Cube Shape: Tiny squares

Method of Long-Distance Travel: If accessible, a train.

Art Style: Ngl I didn't know how to answer this? She loves looking at concept art books, especially for animated films.

Mythological Creature: Fitting to her theme, Faries are the creature I associate with her most. I am specifically referring to the cute ones with wings. Whereas her mutated form is more,,,, unsettling.

Piece of stationary: Paper from the notebook Heisenberg gave her with an intricate lock system.

Three Emojis: 💖🍵🌸

Celestial Body: Neptune. Both because of her sign's ruling planet but for what it stands for. Ever the dreamer, Faline hopes to leave the factory with Heisenberg one day and experience the freedom she had once again. Neptune is said to represent dreams, fantasies, imagination and hope. I could find something better suiting for her.

like, okay. Definitely not in the context of pre-im3. Before that, if their one-night stand had turned into an actual relationship, I think it would've been short-lived and messy. They're both incredibly headstrong, selfish, workaholic, and stubborn individuals, and that absolutely could've caused them to clash with each other, instead of either balancing each other out or being so similar they're compatible. And, if anything, it could've easily just become a "colleagues-with-benefits" situation instead of an actual relationship. Either way... not great, and not something that would've allowed them to maintain some degree of professionalism.

now, I think... Tony could've helped keep Maya's work on the right track, and allowed for more legal experiments due to his connections to the military. She would've had more opportunities and avenues of research at her disposal, alongside a great deal of funding, and while her ethics could easily still be questioned, it wouldn't have been the mess she allowed it to become with Killian. She still would've been obsessive with Extremis, but with Tony involved, it's quite possible she could've made it work with his help, though with them clashing quite a bit due to work-related issues and/or personal issues.

post-im3... is me dealing with my own headcanons and fics I've read sgfhsdf - and also not taking the comics into consideration, because I know nothing of comics!Maya, other than her role is very different and bigger than what she was given in im3. And, yes, she was absolutely done dirty in that movie, but I digress. Canonically, Tony goes through a lot of character development in the film, and had Maya lived, I think she would have as well. She would've finally taken the blinders off and realized she majorly fucked up, and I personally think she would've done rather well taking accountability and responsibility for her actions. It would've been a large and bitter pill to swallow, but... despite her faults, I do think she's a good person at heart. She wanted to help other people with Extremis, but... she screwed up. She meant well, but sometimes those who mean well cause the worst damage. In the movie, it's clear she's remorseful. It's clear she doesn't like helping Killian kidnap Pepper (you can see the pain in her eyes when Pepper goes to answer the door of their hotel room), but her own stupid desperation for her work to succeed screws her and everyone else over, and she makes one last hurrah to fix it. It's a little too late, and not enough to begin to heal the damage she caused, but... she wanted to make things right. That's why she reached out to Tony after all those in the first place.

my point is, Maya can be good, but was led astray and blinded by her own ambition. Don't get me wrong, she's absolutely at fault, but she's still good deep down. I don't think she could or should be fully forgiven for what she did, but I think she could've been given a chance at redemption had she lived. And that's how I plan on writing her - SHIELD gives her that chance at redemption, because I write her in an au where she lived. Her work is seized and she's not at all trusted, but SHIELD gives her a position, and she willingly (although painfully) says goodbye to Extremis, because she realizes it... can't be made safe. It hurts, because Extremis was her life's work, but... she knew she needed to let it go, because she had done enough harm. She had ruined enough people and hurt enough families by allowing Killian to have oversight and control.

back to your actual question lol, I ship Tony and Maya a few years down the line post-im3. After the fall of SHIELD. Maybe starting around aou, but more the start of them feeling something for each other, rather than an actual relationship. And, yes, I do ship Tony and Pepper together, although I totally understand why people don't (again, it's mostly me running on my own headcanons and ignoring canon as hard as I possibly can sfghfds), but in this case, they didn't work out because they realized they work better as friends, not lovers. There's no cheating with how I see Tony/Maya happening. Anyway, I think... around aou, because they've both developed as people and really seen their own faults and started to address them, there's a part in both of them that's mellowed. Not a lot, as they certainly still buttheads and bicker, but... it's done in a more friendly manner. They're still both stupidly stubborn and headstrong, but I think they begin to balance each other out, rather than overlap and stifle. There's something there, but something they either refuse to acknowledge, or something they fail to even see (or both. probably both fgdjhkdfg). But then Tony creates Ultron, and... things go to hell. And this is where things change for them.

Maya's... been there. She did the same thing, just on a different scale, but... she created something that was meant to be good. Something that... fell out of her hands. Something she thought she could control, but went into denial the moment she did lose it. I think... a part of her would almost be disappointed in Tony, but... at the same time, I don't think she could actually be fully angry or frustrated with him. She'd... feel sympathetic, really, and honestly would take his side, despite strongly disagreeing with the Ultron project. I mean, she'd acknowledge that Tony fucked up, and tell him he messed up, but she'd still stand with him, and try to work with him on the best way of shutting this down before it's too late. And, I think, in her mind, she feels she owes that to him, because he, regardless of whether or not he meant to, gave her a second chance. And, sure, it's not Tony's first offense (far from it), but... she still owes it to him. I'm not all that sure what her role could be in aou, since I... honestly didn't really develop that, heh, but I think after the events of aou, they start realizing their feelings for each other. Or, at least Maya starts to realize her feelings for Tony. She wouldn't do anything about it, since she'd doubt he would ever want a relationship with her after everything she had done, but also because she feels she doesn't deserve it. And even if they both realized it, I don't think either would reach out immediately. It would take a little bit more time for them to feel comfortable acknowledging their feelings, and a bit more time to be willing to give a relationship - an actual relationship - a shot.

I think... maybe come cacw, they're in a relationship. And, genuinely, I think it would work for them. Again, they've both mellowed enough in certain aspects not to be continuously clashing, but they still call each other out on their shit, while still building each other up. Maya would push Tony to get help and help him work through his guilt, since I do think she would've been doing that for herself post-im3 (possibly SHIELD-mandated therapy that morphed into her own interest in continuing it), but she would also know when to step back. She knows how he feels, and she'd know how to work with him. That he's defensive and gets panicky easily, all while hiding it under bravado and ego and (often misplaced/ill-timed) humor. She could get through to him privately, I think, even if she can't sway his mind.

now, I do think Maya would actually be for the accords, but she'd also see its flaws. She wouldn't be blindly rallying behind it, but would be for more controlled oversight. Because it's playing with her own guilt, much like it is with Tony's. However, she's also cautious, and isn't stupid. I think she'd play Devil's Advocate in this case, much like Natasha, and could play it from both sides. She would argue for far more clear consequences and restrictions on said consequences, but would agree that the Avengers and people like them need to have some sort of oversight to keep from pulling something like Extremis or Ultron. The whole thing is complicated and fucked in general, and but her view on it is going to be skewed. Again, in this situation, I do see her siding with Tony, but I do see this causing somewhat of a strain in their relationship, because she's not 100% in agreement with the accords, and he's going way too hard for them. It could be enough for them to need to separate for a while, or maybe not, but... I do think it's something they can still come out together in the end.

overall... yeah, I do ship Maya and Tony together. Again, basing on my own headcanons, ahah, but... I think, given time, their similar personalities could play off each other well, rather than exploding in their faces. I think, given enough time, they could have something like Tony and Pepper do in canon come eg. Maybe with a kid, maybe not, that I'm not too sure, but... that domesticity, really. That comfort.

and, listen, they both deserve good things dammit sdfkjhgfd

okay, for starters, fuck Killian. He's disgusting (I mean, his whole thing with Pepper in the film makes me want to puke, and I'm forever thankful to whatever god intervened and prevented the initial idea for what he did to her from making into the film because jesus christ was that fucked) and a terrible person all around. I mean, don't get me wrong - I do feel for his beginning. The whole thing with him pre-Extremis is disgusting and incredibly ableist, and what Tony did was fucked up, but that's where my sympathy ends. It gives reason to his behavior but not an excuse, and I generally have a hard time finding something to like about his personality or motivation.

with that aside, I personally don't see a relationship happening between him and Maya outside of professional. Now, I can see why people think they were together either romantically or sexually, but personally, I don't jive with it. Surprisingly enough not because of my dislike of Killian lol, but because I don't think Maya would make the same mistake twice. Like, she was slighted by Tony. She's... not gonna do that again with Killian lol. I could see him trying to get with her, but I don't see her even entertaining it, and I think she'd have just enough power to keep him from lashing out, given Extremis is her creation at the end of the day. But, if they were in a relationship, it would be incredibly unhealthy, if not outright abusive on some level. She is terrified of him in the movie, and it's incredibly obvious closer toward her death, when Tony wakes up in Killian's mansion. When Killian comes on the seen, Maya is visibly afraid of him, and it's clear in her expression and body language. She steps away from him, and he's not even by her. He's in front of Tony. We see that Maya refuses to acknowledge it, but he does have control over her, and that control would've been far worse if they were involved.

I know it's been years and years but I'm still bitter that they released the Lego Hobbit game too early and then never finished the dlc for the rest of it. Like.... Probably too bitter considering it's a silly Lego game based on a bad movie franchise. And YET!

So I actually finally watched Memories of Nobody. I actually saw it years and years ago, in a theater, for some reason, back in 2008. I had vague memories of being disappointed by it at the time, but we actually enjoyed it on rewatch quite a bit. Some thoughts:

According to my husband, who found it on some shady streaming site, this film takes place “between the Bount arc and the Advance Team arc” which is the 2nd most ass-pulled place to cram some filler, second only the Amagai arc, which takes place in the middle of the Hueco Mundo arc.

Hitsugaya is so tired.

There’s a scene where Urahara explains a bunch of metaphysics while Tessai sits behind him flipping through a book of (presumably his own?) sketches, exactly like that scene in the Advance Team Arc where Renji and Rukia do this. Notably, Ichigo does not pick on Tessai’s drawing, not even once.

I guess Urahara has some way of extracting Kon’s memories and playing them, like on a tv? W H A T.

ngl the world-building in this movie kinda slaps???

I am obsessed with the fact that it’s not The Valley of Screams, it’s “a valley of screams” and it’s they make is sound like a thing that just happens (although they later back off on that and claim that there must be someone nefarious behind it)

Did I made a “what if we kissed in the valley of screams? j/k... unless...?” joke? You know I did.

There’s a scene where everyone comes to arrest Senna and it’s so ham-fisted and dumb. They sent, like, 3 captains, 2 vice-captains, some ninja, and Rukia and let Renji shout at Ichigo at the top of his lungs. Literally, all they had to do was send Rukia to say “hey, it turns out Senna is the memory crystal we should take her to Soul Society to keep her safe” and Ichigo would have been totally on board. Anyway, this is the dumbest thing that happens is movie, so let’s just move past it.

The Reigai arc sure did rip some beats off this movie

Rukia forces her way into a captains’ meeting while two guards with detaining sticks try to hold her back, this fucking rules. Yamamoto screams at her. Byakuya does not even change facial expressions.

Hey, is this, like a grifting thing? At any given time, you’ve got (1) older, distinguished Kuchiki who never reacts to anything and (1) young, feral Kuchiki who raises ruckuses? And the Kuchiki can use the hothead to start shit and cause trouble while the older one just shakes their head in vague disapproval?

Anyway, someone gave Yamamoto a kidou cannon and he is going to fire it at that valley of screams, ain’t no one gonna stop him now.

It is explicitly stated that firing the kidou cannon will destroy a significant portion of both Soul Society and the Living World but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So you know that animated gif where Renji and Rukia do a sick backflip off a bridge? No one told me they were backflipping into the valley of screams.

My precious husband says “that would make a good animated gif”. “I got you, babe,” I say.

Okay, literally half the Gotei leadership ignores Yamamoto’s orders and goes to the valley of screams.

One thing I do not like about filler/movies is that they are so afraid to do anything new that they just copy the beats of the canon material, which sort of, I dunno, cheapens it. Like, this movie evokes both Rukia and Renji deserting to save Orihime in Hueco Mundo and the captains doing their own shit at the end of the Soul Society arc, and the overall effect is that no one has any respect for Yamamoto, which I don’t think was the point they were trying to make.

They should have let Orihime go to the valley of screams, but she probably would have fixed the problem in 2 seconds

The group of people who go to the valley of screams is perplexing. Mr. P suggested that the reason Soi Fon is here is because she had previously promised to do something with Omaeda (maybe it’s his birthday??) and  was like “oh, shit, sorry man, valley of screams situation came up, catch you next time (i def will not)”

Yoruichi is not in this film. I am assuming she is off being a groupie for the Red Hot Chili Peppers or something.

Hisagi was here for maybe three frames and then did nothing. At least Kira got to release his sword.

Komamura is not here, but he is sort of a Yamamoto simp. We don’t see him hanging out with Ukitake and Kyouraku back at the kidou cannon, tho. Wait. Oh, no. That kidou cannon has gotta be pretty loud. Komamura probably had to go home and put on his thundershirt and hide under the bed.

Soi Fon’s shikai worked??????

I made a bunch of jokes about things Byakuya might be doing (napping, most likely), but then he showed up late and interrupted Rukia’s fight to announce “It is an honor to be slain by my bankai.” Dude, c’mon.

I kinda want to know more about this clan that got done dirty 700 years ago and learned to live in the Dangai like Westley and Buttercup living in the Fire Swamp??

If I had to wander the Dangai, instead of trying to implode the valley of screams and destroy all planes of existence, I would have just made a valley of screams and fixed it up real nice and lived there and not bothered anyone, but that’s just me

Yamamoto has fired the kidou cannon

RIP to Ganryu, you had kind of a cool design, dude, I’m sorry your plan was bad and also that you didn’t get any Vintage Soul Society Flashbacks

I am absolutely perplexed by the end of this film. Despite saving Senna, and being hit with the kidou cannon, the valley of screams is still imploding. Senna stops existing, Ichigo is sad, everyone is saved, it ends with Ichigo seeing a girl who looks like Senna because ???

Who cares! It’s time for Sen no Yoru wo Koete!!!!
