One Hundred

On the morning of her one-hundredth birthday, Elain wants nothing more than to disappear into the covers. Fortunately, her mate has other plans.

Pairing: Elain x Lucien

Word Count: 586

Warnings: None, just fluff!

A light touch stirred her from sleep.

It began with a gentle brush against the tip of her nose, and she scrunched it slightly, not entirely ready to face the day ahead.

Then, it fell on her ear, soft and gentle, tickling the shell as it descended down to her jaw. Her neck.

Elain sighed in delight, just barely aware of the sunlight peering from the windows, urging her awake.

The sound was met with a low chuckle, deliciously warm on her exposed skin. It reminded her of a kiss.

The touch returned to her temple, her brow, and Elain realised she was being kissed—just as Lucien’s lips fell on her own, slow and lazy and curled up in a small smile.

She kept her eyes closed as her hands slid from under the covers to find his neck, pulling him closer, deeper as she let herself get lost in the moment. His strong arms found her instantly, as they always did, their golden-brown skin kissed by sunlight.

Elain smiled into his mouth. She was home.

She never wanted to leave.

But then, Lucien pulled away an inch—just enough to whisper, “Happy birthday.”

The moment shattered like glass.

Realising what day it was, Elain turned her face away from his and groaned loudly into the pillow.

A brush of lips against her shoulder. “Come now, Elain, that’s not how one would usually choose to celebrate their hundredth birthday.”

One hundredth.

Gods, she was so old.

If she were still mortal, she’d have wrinkles and grey hair by now. No—she likely would’ve been dead. One hundred.

Elain groaned again.

She could almost feel her mate smile as his hand dipped into her hair, curling one of the wild strands around his finger. “You know,” Lucien mused, tugging on the curl lightly, “For an old woman, you’re looking spectacularly sexy today.”

Elain didn’t even bother lifting her face as she grabbed the pillow beside her and threw it with surprising strength, pleased to hear Lucien’s muffled groan as it hit home. “Go away, Lucien,” she ordered. “Let me grovel in peace.”

Lucien hummed, making a show of considering. “The only way I’ll let my mate spend her birthday in bed is if I get to join her.” He leaned in closer, his breath hot on her skin as he added, “And when I do, I’ll make sure there will be no grovelling.”

Elain’s face heated at the memory of last night, suddenly very aware that she was still completely and utterly naked. And so was Lucien.

“I’ll take you up on that offer,” she began, “as long as you promise you’ll spend the whole day making me forget that I’m a hundred years old.”

Another chuckle.

“Tempting,” he said, the deep rumble of his voice rolling into her bones. “But I’m afraid I can’t do that—I have a lot planned for this particular occasion today.”

Elain sighed, and Lucien’s hand moved to brush his knuckles along her spine.

“How about I make you a deal,” he hummed, the sound entirely too self-satisfied at the shivers he elicited from her. “We’ll get you out of bed and have a fun day that I’ve spent a long time planning out,” he emphasised, his mouth finding that perfect spot beneath her ear as he added lowly, “And then we’ll come back to bed where I’ll make sure you are celebrated properly.”

Elain shuddered, and Lucien nipped at her ear, delighted at the reaction.

The end of season 2!!!#(Granted: this season was nearly twice the length of season one.)#It's been a really fantastic season to draw for. So many iconic moments! I'm growing as a comic artist bit by bit!#There is even a little bit of shadowing in this one for next season. As a treat. All the fun (and not heart breaking) scenes to come!#Comic talk time: Recently saw 12 angry men for first time and I love the coincidence of the themes aligning here.#They both touch upon the horror of judicial systems - in which the most persuasive argument wins and the truth is a nuisance.#All it takes is one person to stand against the crowd and say 'I do not know what is true. And that is reasonable doubt enough.'#When the majority is for condemning someone guilty - that in itself is persuasive enough.#One will set their mind to what the 'truth' is and refuse to see it any other way. That their perspective is the only correct one.#No one is born with a monopoly on the truth.#Everyone has biases and agendas. Some care not for the outcome - only that they can be on the convenient side.#Lan Wangji is putting everything on the line to say 'I'm not going to go with the majority vote.'#And that is a huge deal in a story that is so politically focused as MDZS is. Everything is a careful chess move to these sects -#and to not play the game is basically sacrificing everything you are and your families name. For some it is unthinkable.#And there is no doubt in LWJ's mind. He would stand there and lose everything if it means upholding justice.#More importantly - these two have each other's backs. The bond is unbreakable. This is the most ride or die I have seen two people be.

Ok, so Muppet AU! Every ability user in canon is a muppet, except for Dazai, who nullifies both abilities and the physical state of being a muppet!

Now that that’s established:

Bram is already kind of a muppet, right?

(Whenever Bram spreads the vampirism, the newly infected muppet just gains a pair of glued-in fangs)

Corruption is just muppet-Chuuya on a string, being swung wildly about like the killer rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Imagine you are a muppet for as long as you can remember, and then one weird human pokes you, and suddenly you are also human for the first time alsksjdjf

Oh and the best part of this AU is Ranpo!!! Because if Fukuzawa convinced Ranpo that he had an ability when he was fifteen, then that means that Fukuzawa simultaneously had to convince a human boy that he was a muppet.

And Ranpo believes this for years.

Ranpo, a human man: “Haha, I have the best ability in the agency! >:D”

How quickly that shoulder pat of comfort turned into a condescending one.

i think people give elise too much shit for her little outburst at the end of sonic 06 because if i was running a country at 17 and had been repressing my emotions for 10 years straight and one day i got kidnapped like 500 times and ended up befriending the guy who rescued me and while spending time with him i felt like i really got to be myself and have fun for the first time in forever and formed a really meaningful relationship with him only for some weird demon rat thing to show up and kill him right in front of me just to make me cry so the destructive fire god that my dad sealed inside my body would be unleashed and then in order to save the world i had to reset the timeline and forget we ever met i would have become the joker
