Fic: Stirred Tensions

For the requester who wanted dark!Jon/Martin with Tim/Martin on the side, here is a S2 story in which Jon gets jealous and acts on it. SFW with creepy Jon.

Stirred Tensions

There is a romance happening at the office.

Tim and Martin don't let it disturb their duties, so it takes Jon a while to notice it in the first place. But once he does notice how Tim and Martin always leave the Institute at the same time, together, it's impossible not to notice everything else too. The way their fingers sometimes tangle together when they're close to each other, how Martin has become chattier and laughs more easily, and worst of all, when they start arriving at work at the same time too.

Something is happening between them, and Jon gets his confirmation for the nature of their relationship when he almost catches them kissing in the back of the Archives, Martin's arm slung around Tim's neck, Tim's hand on Martin's hip. They both startle when Jon clears his throat, bouncing back from each other.

"Sorry," Martin mutters, fleeing the place of crime immediately, face all red. Tim shakes his head at that, laughing.

"Great timing, boss," Tim says, but it's good-natured. He even pats Jon on the shoulder when he leaves, heading after Martin.

Jon lingers there for a while, trying to chase the image of Tim's and Martin's mouths almost touching out of his brain. But it lingers, too.

"You wanted to see me, Jon?"

Weirdly enough, Jon appears to be more nervous about their meeting than Martin is, and Martin is plenty of nervous. It takes a moment for Jon to turn around, and he almost looks hesitant for a second before his eyes go stern.

"Sit down," he says. "I need to talk to you."

Martin hides a grimace. Is this about the interrupted kiss, or about the CV? He's not sure which option worries him more, but he sits in the chair anyway, trying to smooth the wrinkles out of his trousers once he's down. They don't go away, but he leaves his hands at his knees, looking up at Jon.

"This will be very awkward," Jon warns, walking over to his desk. He hesitates by his chair before pushing it away, resting one hand on the desk while letting the other fall down to his side. He isn't meeting Martin's eyes. "But well, I saw you and Tim yesterday. And I have noticed that you and Tim have grown quite close."

Martin exhales slowly through his nose. This- well, it had been one of the things he feared Jon would bring up, but he had really hoped it would be low on Jon's list of priorities. He grips his knees, struggling to think of how tactfully to breach the topic.

"We have become close," he admits. "It's nothing that gets in the way of our work though. We have done everything asked of us."

"So far." Jon brings his other hand on the desk too, gripping its edge. "However, that's not what concerns me. Your safety does."

"Jon, what are you talking about?"

But Martin knows. He remembers coming to Jon's office with an offer of tea and the plan to get him out for a while, and finding Jon with photos of Tim's house all over his desk. Jon has been weird lately, observing them all, examining their things when he thinks nobody is looking; Martin remembers his own confrontation with Jon, how angry Jon had been with him. This all has to be part of the same thing and it fills him with concern.

"Do you really think Tim is dangerous?" he asks, frowning at his own careful tone. "You're wrong, you know. I know you don't want to hear it but-"

"It's possible though," Jon interrupts him. "What do you really know about him? Sure, he's very likable and charming, but do you actually know anything about his past, or even what he currently wants from this place? H's a little suspicious."

"I do actually know a lot of things," Martin snaps, curling his fingers up against his thighs. "I mean, I'm the one who spends time with him. What have you done to try to get to know him?"

Jon sighs, somehow managing to make the sound of it drip with condescension, and shakes his head.

"You're not listening," he says.

"You're the one who is not listening," Martin mutters unhappily. He wants to argue on Tim's behalf, but also, in a way, for Jon's; Jon doesn't need to have all these doubts and fears about the people he knows. Something is obviously wrong with him, and Martin wants to help. But he doesn't know how to make Jon listen, and right now he fears he will make it worse if he tries. So he gets up, which makes Jon's eyes go wide.

"We're not done here," Jon starts to say.

"I'm sorry, but I think we are." Martin can't stand the look in Jon's eyes, the weird despair, so he looks away, towards the door. "I can talk to you about work things. My private life is mine."

"I'm just trying to help," Jon whispers.

The worst thing is, Martin is sure that Jon really means that.

"You're not though," he says softly, and starts to leave.

There is nothing Jon wants to do more than to race after Martin, grab him and keep him from leaving. But even if he had the physicality to do that, he feels frozen, just standing there and watching as Martin exits the office and closes the door behind him. Martin does everything gently; a sign that whatever emotional disarray Jon is feeling, Martin doesn't share it.

And Jon is the one who needs to appear rational.

Once Martin is gone, Jon walks over to the chair Martin just sat in, reaching down so he can press hand against its back. It still feels warm from the pressure of Martin's back. Jon keeps his hand there for a while, trying to think of a way he can make Martin understand, see that Tim is potentially dangerous.

And even if Tim isn't- he's not good enough.

The back of the chair has gone cold. Jon pulls his hand away, and wonders how warm Martin will feel like in Tim's hands tonight.

Martin: How much cheese would you have to eat to get the drug effects? Tim: Let’s find out

Jon: will you love me if i was a worm :( 

Martin: … can you still talk?

Jon: Martin, im a worm.

Martin: will you be the ceaseless watchers special little worm?

Jon: what does that even mean? im just a regular worm.

Martin: …

Martin: …

Martin: …

Jon: (dramatic gasp) is that a NO?!!

Martin: will the worm have your gorgeous hair and winning personality?

Jon: What? of course not! im just a worm.

Martin: then what good is a worm if i cant do anything with it??

Jon: but its ME!! :( just, as a worm :( 

Martin: how would i even know that its you?!

Jon: i dont know, maybe it has eyeballs around it?

Martin: … okay, but that’s it? it’s ridiculous! i mean, would you love me if i was a useless little wor -

Jon: YES!!! 

Martin: …

Martin: …

Martin: but that’s dumb! that doesn’t even make any sense!  what can i do as an ordinary worm -

Jon: (gasp) you mean you won’t accept my love if you’re a worm?! :( 

Martin: How could i if I'm just a biologically regular worm?!?!

Jon: Biologically rude worm is what you are >:(

   replayed Oxenfree for the first time since 2017. Great game! One of my favs. Absolutely recommend it, especially if you like TMA    I was going for the Oxenfree art style but gave up halfway through, so whatever. here are some tma food hcs bc AAAA

i think that jon gets hungry for real food, too. but its more of a deep hunger? he actually needs food less and less and eventually just doesn't need to eat, but he still can and he still gets hungry, when he lets himself be relaxed enough to realize what his body needs

hes a great cook and at the safe house, cooks amazing meals and bakes warm loafs and all of martins favorite meals

jon sometimes gets hungry and doesnt let himself eat bc he doesnt feel human enough and feels like he doesnt deserve it

martin notices that last one and tries his best to make something jon likes

i think that martin is the best at making tea, really excellent at making classic chocolate chip cookies, and just awful at anything else in the kitchen. he still tries his best, and jon eats everything he makes

lonely!martin loses a lot of weight bc he leaves the office less and less and doesnt care for himself as much

jon is the only one who notices this and starts putting out a little tray of homemade biscuits near the tea in hopes that martin grabs some

when theyre in the safe house, jons #1 priority is to figure out martins favorite meals as subtly as he can to get martin to stop starving himself accidentally out of habit (he actually wasnt subtle at all, but martin found it endearing so he played along)

Melanie wanted to be a baker when she was younger and got really good at making treats. Her first youtube channel was for baking

Georgie cooks and Melanie bakes and they always call eachother the better chef

georgie is pretty good at cooking but she isnt exceptional by any means. melanie is excellent at baking, but she considers it pretty useless because "you cant live off fancy cakes and meringues"

daisy says that she knows how to cook and for a pretty long time basira believes her bc you cant be that buff if you dont eat

one night she comes over and finds that all that daisy has been eating is frozen meals

basira is fine at cooking (enough to live off of), but she cooked the best meal she could in hopes to inpress daisy

daisy had so little actual ingredients that basira rly struggled but it was amazing. daisy didnt notice bc she was too tired. she crashed on the couch and basira left after tucking her in. daisy was pissed at herself for not appreciating basira

after that, she stops eating frozen meals and tries learning to cook. shes really bad at it at first and almost gives up multiple times, but wants to be able to cook for herself (its really for basira but she wont admit it)

tim is the cook and sasha cleans up after

he feels bad making her clean but she insists bc "cooking is so much more useful and time consuming" and that he should "let her be useful"

tim always helps out in the end and they often end up dancing together in the kitchen

tim gets this weird feeling of loneliness when certain songs come up when hes cleaning the kitchen alone after not!sasha

peter leaves homecooked meals at elias' desk when he has his back turned (he starts with warm foods, but realized that they always turn cold and that isnt very pleasent, so he starts bringing salads and poke bowls)

Fic: Something Real

For an anon requester, a Tim/Martin with fake amnesia! SFW with angst and bitter Tim, set in an AU where Tim survived the Unknowing.

Something Real

Martin always goes to Jon first, even now that Tim is awake. It makes Tim feel all kinds of bitter, but he swallows all of it, the whole sour bile of it as he waits for Martin to come to him, and eventually Martin does.

"I brought some stuff from your home," Martin says today, putting his bag on the chair as he starts to rummage through it. "Something that could help jolt your memory. Or do you mind?"

"No, go ahead." Tim is actually quite curious; if nothing else, this should show what Martin thinks is relevant about Tim. "Not sure if it will help, though."

He has to keep his lies simple; he knows that Martin is proficient at deceiving people, too, and maybe it's only because he's distracted by so many burdens in his life that he hasn't sniffed Tim out already. But for now, Martin just starts to pile things up on the top of Tim's blanket, smiling at him.

"You never know," Martin says simply.

Tim shrugs, but looks at the things Martin has brought.

He can't hide his shudder. Somehow, Martin has managed to dig up a picture of Danny. It's from the last summer Danny was alive, two of them posing on a beach with their arms slung over each other's shoulders. There are other things on the blanket too - a small book of poetry that Martin gave to Tim as a birthday gift once, Tim's favorite mug, various little items that hold no significance - but it's Danny's photo that Tim keeps staring at. He can't help but look at it, and Martin notices.

"Do you remember something?" he asks eagerly, sitting on the edge of Tim's bed. "This was someone you knew. Do you remember?"

"He's familiar." Tim has to confess to that at least; saying he didn't remember anything at all would make Martin ask more questions, and Tim wants to avoid that. "In a painful way, though."

"Yes." There is an apologetic note in Martin's voice, but his eyes are hopeful, and he can barely contain himself as he pats Tim on the back of his hand. "But this is a good sign, Tim. You can still return to being you."

Martin laughs, looking down.

"At least you can," he adds.

At least.

"Yeah, maybe." Tim usually wants Martin to stay as long as he possibly can, but sometimes, like now, Martin says something that stings too much, reminds him too much of his own irrelevance. Some days, it's too much. "No offense, but I'm pretty tired. Can you let me sleep?"

"Oh, sure!" Martin stands up, picking Tim's things up and putting them back into his bag. There is lightness to his movements now, as if Tim showing a sign of improvement has let him off the hook a bit. "I need to get going too, anyway. But I'll be back here tomorrow."

Despite everything, that's all Tim wants.

"I'll be happy to see you," Tim says, even though Martin isn't really paying much attention to him anymore. "You're the one thing that makes me happy these days," he says, even though Martin isn't really listening.

He just has to say something real.

Magnus Archives fanfic ideas, I can't decide which one to write.

1. Somewhere else Martin wakes up from a nightmare, tape recorder laying next to him, knife in his hand and flesh eating worms behind the door. This time he's not afraid.

2. Tim thinks he's dead when after the explosion he finds himself in a place full of fog, there is ringing in his ears and someone else laying beside him. Great, If that's hell he really doesn't like the idea of being there with Jon.

Turns out Martin forgot to mention about his short employment on the Tundra back when he was a teenager.

3. They have a new coworker that Peter Lukas recommended Jon didn't even see the guy and they have been presumably working together for a few weeks now, still every morning there is a fresh tea on his desk and it pisses him off. Tim somehow manages to invite Martin to a bar with Sasha saying they should get to know each other better. Jon knows these two are too curious for their own good but when Tim asks him to come he just can't decline.

4. Martin found a statement, It was old and written with a blue shiny pen, the letters twirling around in pleasant waves. He knew this handwriting, there was a name that he knew one that he wanted to forget and he couldn't let Jon see it.

Tim can't find that one lost statement and Jon can't stop whining about disorganized archives. Martin should have burned it, really.

Tim and Jon record a statement regarding "What happened to the Blackwood familly." It's wierd to think his father was actually a good writer.
