top 10 ahsoka headcanons?

Give me a character and I’ll give you 10+ headcannons

I'm on team "markings marbling is a sign of stress during key developmental years; facial is childhood, and lekku is adolescence."

Capable of chirruping as a happy noise.

Very low alcohol tolerance (alas, togruta).

Hid out with Bo during the Purge, and then funneled Force-Sensitive kids through a refugee network managed by Korkie in the years after.

Early and mid-adolescence involves so much calorie burning that not only is she eating all the time, but she's actually got a higher temperature than usual; this is why she dresses 'normally' before and after, but shows the most skin in her tween years.

She gets a different set of rations than everyone else (because all the rest are for humans).

Absolutely had a... I don't want to say hate crush, but maybe a rivalry crush? They weren't fully friends yet and were adversarial interpersonally even when they were cooperating professionally, but yeah, there was a whole thing about Bo-Katan for a few months.

That something came back around a few years post-Purge when they were drinking and commiserating and ended up having maudlin drunk sex that they both promised not to talk about ever again.

Except it happened again and again and again and eventually they just had to admit that an 'I'm lonely and need to not think too hard about the dead' booty call was probably a good idea.

Regularly hit by the instinctive urge to bite down on a shiny's shoulder because until they get their paint, that piece of armor looks like an egg. She's not going to do it, but you know how the tide pod thing started because they kind of look like jelly candy and your monkey brain goes FRUIT! BERRY! EAT! Yeah so if Ahsoka turns too quickly and only catches it out the corner of her eye, a clone pauldron 100% looks like an egg that togruta can and will eat raw, and sometimes she has to double-take.

how do you decide which story arcs to cover from the clone wars in your sleeping habits fic? like, is it a general sense of “this is where i want to end and these are the stops we’ll make along the way” or the opposite, like the journey is more important than the destination in the long run? i’m trying to plan out my own fic and i can’t help but what to do both at the same time and it is ✨not working✨

This is an excellent question!

Sleeping habits is a particular kind of story. It's basically the grown up college version of a drabble (which i have always been very fond of writing). When i set out to write SH I did so specifically to give a platform to the rock tumbler of headcannons in my head. I had so many different version of the clone wars rolling around that I could never nail down exactly what I thought about it.

Star wars is just one of those works that has such an open world with so little fleshing out. I kept going back and forth on details about the clones and their physicality/culture/language. and the same for Ahsoka's Togruta characteristics. So i decided to dedicate one fic as sort of one universe, one shelf where i could organize all of my thoughts without necessarily committing to them. (sort of a multiverse situation).

When it comes to writing each chapter it's basically off the cuff. I pick one headcannon about one character and then i just write my way to that. Usually along the way other details will emerge about other characters, setting, ect. I basically start with a reaction and build a situation in which that would happen. (think very one bed formula).

The great thing about this writing method is that it makes you ask a lot of questions in the process. Instead of starting with a clear plan, it makes you come up with a bunch of new details to answer questions you haven't even thought of.

Lets take the chapter "With flying colors" for example;

The only subject I intended to write about was Ahsoka climbing up a troopers back, like a feral little shit, in order to get up a cliffside. I picked it purely because it would be funny and the last chapters had been sort of slow and sweet.

I asked myself what planet would Ahsoka be really comfortable navigating? Well, Felucia is similar enough to her home planet.

What characteristics would Ahsoka have as a plains hunter? Quiet, swift, barefoot, able to climb trees quickly.

Which led to a study on trench foot and maart's whole character. As well as fleshing out Vere's character.

Who should Ahsoka climb? well, Jesse, because i'm trying to write about more clones than just Rex, Fives, and Echo. Besides, he'd have a funny reaction. That meant Those three would have to stay back at camp, which meant Kix and Anakin were coming bc Ahsoka isn't going anywhere without either Anakin or Rex.

So I had to come up with characterization for all three of them. which brought in the hunting aspect, the jedi council test, the inclusion of the commandos (to keep Anakin out of the spotlight), And even Ahsoka waking up with a cricked neck from sleeping in Anakin's armpit.

And then of course how would all characters involved react to the events described.

This writing method is, in part, a character driven narrative. Meaning that every writing decision I make takes into account a characters personality, feelings, and reaction before I even consider an actual plotline. This is not an ideal writing method for all kinds of stories. Some stories require a plot driven narrative. If you have a clear plotline you want to accomplish you may want to write the plot first and the characters second.

In SH all the locations, timeline, or tie in to a certain time period or episode of the show is an after thought meant to serve the place that the character is in rather that the character serving the plot.

But if you look at "A Series of Interviews" for instance, it is a fleshed out plot where the characters involved are tools to get from one plot point to another. And thus a narrative driven storyline.

My first piece of advice to you is to decide whether you're writing for the characters or for the events before you decide how you want to plan the rest of your story.

More Togruta Headcannons!

Part 2 of Togruta headcannons I make up with allergy attacks. Pt. 1 here

This one is mostly the Togruta Pantheon. Only five of them though, I'll do more later.

The most important deity of the Togruta Pantheon is Grut Daaark, which translates to Hunter Moon in basic, she is also called Meht Daaark or Meht Grut, translating to Mother Moon or Mother Hunter respectively.

She is the head deity and keeps the other gods and spirits in line.

She gives protection to a tribe of Togruta when they go out hunting and she gives a special protection to those going to face the more agressive and wild type of Akul.

She is the head of the pantheon and in control of all aspects of Togruta society but she is most heavily associated with love, parenthood, the hunt, protection, strength, creation, balance and abundance.

In all sources, she is the first of the Shili gods and the one who made Shili.

She crafted the environments of Shili and watered the ground with her red-orange blood, which is why many plants are that color.

Her place of residence is the largest, oldest and closest of Shili's six moons, it is the brightest at night and it is seen as her giving light for the hunt.

The Shrine of Meht Daaark is her main shrine, built on a place that is considered holy and sacred to Togruta.

The shrine is a very heavily protected place, the Y'grritil tribe, or Shaman tribe, lives around the shrine to protect it from ill intent. They have a community of tamed Akul who live with them and help them protect the shrine.

It is believed that Grut Daaark gave a select group of Togruta from all over Shili the task to guard the shrine and gave them tamed Akul with fur that matched her moon to help. All the Akuls who live with them have an extreme morph of the albino trait other Akuls can have.

These Akuls are appropriately called Daaark Akuls.

Grut Daaark is the most important and beloved deity in their pantheon.

The ribbon tradition I mentioned in Pt. 1 is a ritual to her, as she is depicted with a pair of ribbons tied around her montrals that protect her.

In her various depictions, she is usually seen in traditional hunting clothes with either a serrated spear or hunting bow and an Akul by her side. She usually has a shield on her back and infants/ adolescents of various species gathered around her for protection and nurturing.

She is said to have made all life on Shili and is the mother to all, hence why she is also called Meht Daaark.

She also made most of the other deities or influenced their creation in some way, the only one she did not have any influence or part in making was Sa'mahr Suun, who is her younger sister.

Sa'mahr Suun, translating to Sister Sun, is the second most important deity and the second oldest. She is less powerful and does not have Grut Daaark's total control but she is strong.

She is associated with ferocity, fire, destruction, rebirth, renewal, second chances, war, debate, compromise and, as a gift from her sister, communal bonding and change.

Her place of residence is the sun Shili orbits, even though her place of residence would usually be considered more important than Grut Daaark's, it is believed that Grut Daaark made Shili before Sa'mahr Suun came into existence.

Sa'mahr is not jealous or vindictive of her role or her sister and is a loyal and supportive force to Grut Daaark. She is a warrior but isn't bloodthirsty or overzealous, she has great restraint and self control, much like the Togruta when they go to war.

In the many versions of Shili's pantheon, she is always the second and respected by the others for her wisdom and strength.

Her depictions usually show her in traditional war garb with a shield similar to that of her sister's that was gifted to her by her sister and a sun spear with a protective helmet around her head and montrals, the helmet usually has a pan on top filled with seeds and she is often depicted with a Golden yellow and red Ghya Kee'tch, fire bird, a bird with an omnivorous diet, they spread seeds and usually play a key role in reviving areas after natural disasters like fires.

Her shrine is the Suun Shrine.

It is customary to pray to Sa'mahr Suun for luck in battle and Grut Daaark for protection in battle.

Sa'mahr Suun has a partner and a child.

Nahgi Yona, Water Heal, is a Shili deity made by Grut Daaark.

It is said they were made when Grut Daaark cried while healing her sister, causing Nahgi Yona to come into existence and for water to appear on Shili.

Nahgi Yona is a healer and a harmer, they have the ability to heal any wound and inflict even more pain. They are also responsible for making it rain and the waters of Shili.

Water disasters on Shili are because of Nahgi Yona, either because someone did something they deemed punishable or because it needed to happen.

Nahgi Yona is associated with healing, water, recovery, unpredictability, travel, foresight and the weather.

Their residence is the moon the second closest Shili, it is closer to Shili half the year and closer to the sun the other half.

They are beleived to see into the future and see when things, good or bad, will happen and act accordingly.

Droughts on Shili were originally thought to be Nahgi Yona holding back water in an area because of something the Togruta in the area had done but eventually this idea was dropped as even tribes who never did anything to offend them suffered droughts.

It was a common belief that droughts were caused by Ha'a'neh, a young trickster goddess, who would sweep in and distract Nahgi Yona from their duties just for fun and cause rain to be late.

Nahgi Yona is usually depicted in or around water with the sun behind therm. Their lekku are very long and trail along the ground, usually melding into the water they are around. They wear traditional healer clothing with their sacred animal, a sea creature that's like a giant sea turtle + snapping turtle but with sharpened fins and a club tail, next to them. They have healing plants growing around them and destroyed, waterlogged trees by them as well, showing their healing and destructive powers.

Nahgi Yona is the partner of Sa'mahr Suun, the pair being opposed yet connected in their duties as they both destroyed and restores life and couldn't do it without each other.

Ha'a'neh is a trickster and prankster, she is said to have been an early creation of Grut Daaark, hence her youthful, joking and playful personality.

She is heavily associated with good natured trickery and creative problem solving, messengering and the winds.

She uses the wind to mess around with mostly Nahgi Yona since she's usually closest and she can usually get away with it.

Her shrine is in the windiest mountain of Shili and that is her place of residence. She does not have a moon residence.

She is depicted in either the mountains or the clouds, she is shown wearing the clothing messenger's clothing, used during times of conflict to protect messengers, it has sail like flaps that come out from under the arms, which is a dressing style used in the tall windy mountains. Her weapon is a pick ax like weapon used to climb and fight. Her sacred animal is a very fast, lizardish bird that has a habit of playing pranks by mimicking.

Hoba Da'ki, translating to Food Herd, is another one of Shili's most important gods.

Hoba is the child of Sa'mahr Suun and Nahgi Yona.

She is associated with food gathering, herding, seasonal harvests and the changing of seasons.

She is seen as a kind and generous being, always one with more than enough to go around and one who would help anyone.

She is the simplest of the Shili gods and the most peaceful/least problematic for the others.

In her depictions, she is seen among the wild edible plants with her Djeba, a species of hoofstock native to Shili, she is usually helping the plants grow.

Ahsoka and the 501st Headcannons

- Ahsoka is known for going to the barracks to comfort troopers after a campaign. She will sit with them for hours and listen to them and offer a shoulder to cry on. It’s not uncommon to find a group of shinies huddled around her on the floor

- Speaking of shinies, some of them (esp when Ahsoka was still pretty small) they’d hug onto her like she was a stuffed toy, and she didn’t mind at all. If it made her trooper feel better then she would do so happily

- If a trooper finds something cool on a campaign, like a pretty rock or a flower, they will give it to her and she keeps all the little gifts they give her

- She has lets some of Torrent play around with her sabers, and even taught Fives some of the basic lightsaber stances so they could mock duel

- Ahsoka knows what kind of music each trooper likes and will share songs she finds that she thinks they will like with them. She also was able to barter for a portable speaker that they could keep in the barracks or rec room

- She and Fives started a prank war that eventually involved all of the 501st and the 212th

- Echo helps Ahsoka study because he’s actually enjoys reading ‘boring’ stuff. Jedi temple work is actually a lot more interesting than REG manuals

- It started with Jesse, but one day while he was bored in the rec room, he asked Ahsoka (who was doing course work) if he could try to do a push up with her sitting on him (like in some of the holovideos he’s seen). She says yes. Rex walks in to see Jesse doing pushups while Ahsoka is typing out an essay on his back

- Pretty soon there is a competition between the veterans in the 501st on who can do the most pushups with Ahsoka sitting on them. Hardcase held the record until Rex stepped in and beat him by double 

- There is an ongoing debate on how tall Ahsoka is, she argues that you measure from the tips of her montrals, her men argue its the top of her forehead. 

- “Why would you measure from my forehead my mortals are literally attached to my head, the ARE the top of my head!” “even if we measured from your montrals, you still short as kriff.”

- Because Togruta don’t have hair, she is fascinated by it. Originally she only messed with Anakin’s hair but soon her men started letting her touch their hair was well. She would sit there playing with it for hours if they would let her (and many times they did because it feels good)

- They began teaching her some sayings in Manda’o and in return she taught them a few things in Togruti

- they all complain whenever they have to fly with her, but in reality they prefer her flying to their generals (and she is actually a very good flyer but they would never admit that)

- If Ahsoka hears someone insult her or say anything inappropriate about her, she ignores it, you say something about one of her troopers, she will not hesitate to jump them (Rex has had to haul her away from many brawls)

- If the troopers hear someone insult them they ignore it, if someone catcalls or insults their commander that person better pray to whatever god they believe in because they are about to meet their maker

- Ahsoka and Anakin started a karaoke tradition with the 501st but it stopped after Ahsoka left the order

- After Ahsoka left the order the clones still found themselves picking up small gifts on campaigns, and some chose to keep them with them in case Ahsoka ever came back

So headcannon about feral goblin child ahsoka. In cannon Togruta are said to be purely carnivores, thus their teeth would be rather sharp. To make a long story short, bitting is a common behavior among Togrutan children as they loose their milk teeth (like other mammals/mammaloids (idk sci-fi)) In other words, teething and predatory instincts.

yes!! i think i got a similar ask some time ago regarding this fact! I like to think that Ahsoka chew on pretty much everything that could find at the temple before losing her milk teeth and Plo 100% supported that (even tho it costed him many capes)

But I just saw some star wars anatomy posts by @thatfunkyopossum​​ and it awoke an ancient star wars headcannon demon in my brain so here’s a diagram I drew up months ago on how I figure togruta’s crazy skulls work Anyway the way I (and many others) figure they work is that the montral/lekku system is what serves as ears for them. Kinda like human ears, there’s a bit of a transfer system involved, but unlike humans, togruta have all this on the outside. It starts at the top with the most sensitive sound receptors, travels down to the secondary receptors for clarity, and are dampened in the bigger chambers at the sides of the head. Most of the system is bone-protected except for those chambers, which just have cartilage.

As for the rest of the lekku I imagine it’s largely vestigial from when they used to gather auditory information through the ground, but they now serve as feelers and secondary sex characteristics. The one on the back doesn’t help so much with hearing as it does with communication, which is why I’m focusing on the front two.

But!! Because we’ve been blessed with Ahsoka Tano we can also see how it develops as a togruta grows up!!!! Which I also made diagrams for. I’ve slid some extra stages in there tho cause there isn’t any footage of togruta newborns.

At birth, the hearing organ is like a cushy lil helmet for the skull. They have an extra fontanel that wraps over the top of the organ, but it’s soft for now because. I can’t imagine giving birth to horns is fun. As the baby grows, this second fontanel will harden and fuse with the forehead to make a fancy little pocket for the organ, which will become the montral. Right now the baby’s hearing is very limited and the organ serves as more of a pillow than a hearing device.

By age 3, the hearing organ still isn’t very sophisticated, but has receded slightly from the top of the head for the leetle babby horns to grow around it. As such, the second fontanel has fully fused to the skull, but is still mostly soft. In some Togruta cultures, this is when they start helping the horns along by gently molding them over time. The lekku have also started to grow, but won’t be very long. At this age, their hearing still isn’t great but they can hear enough to start to pick up on language.

By age 8, the montral has fully hardened. Around now is when the secondary hearing organ becomes distinct and cinches off of the dampening organ, which tends to swell after this. Their hearing improves drastically as a result and their mastery of language will usually follow, but they won’t hear much from far away. The lekku are still short, but usually begin to curve away from the skull so as not to interfere with neck movement.

I imagine Togruta as generally longer lived than humans, and as such, puberty goes a little slower. At 14, they usually haven’t quite hit it yet, but are preparing for a hell of a growth spurt. The primary and most sensitive sound receptors have begun to form, and we start to see the lekku become longer. At this point, they can hear everything a human can hear and don’t have as much of a problem with hearing over distances anymore.

At 17, puberty is in full swing and the horns and lekku become much bigger. The primary sound receptors grow with the horns and the togruta can now hear some sounds that humans cannot. The lekku of togruta men don’t tend to grow much longer after about this length, but their montral keep going. Predictably, balance is usually a struggle at this age.

And at 25 the auditory system is mostly complete. For togruta women the lekku usually continue to grow with age, but sometimes they stop here. All their auditory receptors are fully grown at this point and can perceive lower and quieter sounds than humans. Whatever their sex is, the bones in the montral will continue to grow throughout their lives, but their growth tends to slow significantly after this.

This is the longest the sound system can take to fully mature. At this point the horns will continue to grow and the receptors may move a little to accommodate, but their development is complete. Togruta can now hear the fullest range of sound they ever will.

Headcannons I have about Ahsoka based on her being so different than everyone else she grew up around. (Not all of these are original)

Togruti are very communal people. They live in multigenerational households and often sleep together.

Ahsoka is raised with what would be considered an abusive level of detachment by the Togruta on shili, she doesn't literally sleep with people very often but she does really prefer to sleep near them.

That works for Anakin because he was raised with the Temple's idea of communal sleeping anyways. He and Obi-wan shared rooms/beds all the time.

She's very territorial about her stuff. Her blanket her pillow her robe. But Anakin's stuff in communal apparently. She's always taking off with his robe.

Ahsoka is the one always having to inform Anakin of social context except in the worst of circumstances. Anakin can smell subterfuge, he can clock a child groomer at 100 paces based on the way they walk. He does not fuck with that shady shit. And will explicitly detail all the patterns of behavior he sees in someone right to Ahsoka so she's informed.

Shaak ti tried to warn her before she left the temple that the world wasn't kind to girls like her. Ashoka thought she understood. But you don't really understand until you understand.

Ahsoka was super intimidated by Anakin and Obi-wan at first. Especially Obi-wan.

Padamé ends up helping her pick out a new wardrobe after Zygerria. It just doesn't feel right to show that much skin anymore. But padamé tries to make it fun.

Ahsoka is super close with plo-koon, he was planning on taking her on as a padawan before Anakin did. Through him She's also really close with Wolffe.

She's a really good singer and some nights planetside the men talk her into singing for them. She likes lullabies and deep soulful songs in her native language.

Fives also sings really well and sometimes they duet.

She's super allergic to citrus fruit.

Being raised by a bunch of men Ahsoka has some very unladylike habits. She likes to kick her feet up on tables, she sits all manspread. She walks in a very masculine way and a lot of her body language is too, though this is more of a soldier thing.

Even in her manners, she is masculine. Always falling into the male roles of chivalry. She holds doors open for ladies and carries padamé's purse and jacket. She's very formally polite in the way that obi-wan is. It's a real juxtaposition seeing a short 15-year-old girl be such a gentleman.

She can be very feminine too though. Padamé loves to bring Ahsoka along for political dinners or whatever. Partially to dress her up, mostly because she's excellent company.

Ahsoka's table manners are fitting for either a galactic senate diner or a bar and there's no in-between.

She manages to be Coriscant's sweat heart (like cme on? The hero with no fear gets a padawan and she isn't constantly in the news) and a heartbreaker. She leaves a trail of broken hearts behind her.

So many cadet's infatuated with her after a demonstration. Politicians like lux and korkie crushing on her. Or dignitaries daughters she politely greets at functions.

She's also super protective of Anakin. Women are sometimes worse than men about consent. They really think they can touch on him and flirt all they want. , Ahsoka is a fantastic cockblock thanks and she'll recite the seven prose of naboo's poet Danar Welox until your ears bleed.

She's also protective of her troopers and has been known to tell someone to 'get your kriffing hands off my captain before I remove them'. Also she growls. Like deep-chested ripping spitting growls. The kind that shakes your spirit.

She tries not to smile too wide because humans don't like her fangs.

She's very affectionate with her hands. Generally speaking she can't be touchy-feely (jedi shit) but she touches people a lot in subtle ways. The troops are always getting her hands on their elbows/shoulders/arms as she passes by or as a thank you.

She's really close with kix. Like that's her medic. She won't receive treatment from anyone but him. Unless it's girl stuff, then she'll see a temple healer.

She just didn't tell anybody about fighting Grevious until they found out. She does that a lot. Just not saying anything about dangerous shit she does on missions.

She's really quiet and makes a great scout in a pinch but she's kinda noticeable visually, especially when her lekku start growing in.

She can also speak two languages fluently. Curse in five. And can take a R unit droid apart, clean it, and put it back together in 20 minutes.

She doesn't speak binary but she does pretend to. Artoo will completely go along with her lie too just to really sell it.

Togruta/Shili Headcannons

Have some random headcannons that came to me while trying to nap off allergies.

Lots of Akul talk.

Baby Togruta are born with a mess of white stripes on their back, arms and legs so they can camouflage against Teru grass.

They stripes start fading when they're about 3 and fully fade for most individuals by the age of 10.

Some keep them into their teen ears, some keep them their whole lives

As they age the messy back stripes become more refined and more like the patterns other Togruta have on their face/arms/legs.

The ones who keep their stripes their whole lives are better ambush hunters because they blend in better.

Young Togruta also don't smell like Togruta. They smell(and look) more like an Akul cub.

The reason why is because if a youngling happens to get lost or isn't being watched for some reason, Akuls won't attack it since they think it's an Akul too.

Akul have very strong paternal and maternal instincts, the males help their partner raise and teach their cubs.

They will never attack another Akul cub because of these instincts.

It also helps because other predators won't go near an Akul baby.

If an adult Akul finds an abandoned cub or young Akul, they'll just stick around for a while and wait for one or both of it's parents to come back for it.

If nobody comes, most Akul will take the cub as it's own.

Adoption is more common in Akuls than in other predators.

They will also return the cub if the parent comes. It's all understood and doesn't cause much conflict unless the Akul who found the cub really, really likes it.

Akuls have accidentally taken baby Togrutas home because the parent didn't come fast enough.

There are multiple cases and examples of some of the more docile Akul raising Togruta they've found as their own.

The Togruta raised by Akul do pretty well, they stop by their tribe with food and talk for a while before going back to their Akul family.

The Akul who do this are the tamer type of Akul.

The wilder Akul are the ones that are ritually hunted.

Wilder Akul won't take babies but they'll watch them for a while until either the parents or a tamer Akul shows up to claim it.

Some tamer Akul will help Togruta in the hunt and sometimes the tamer ones can be kept as hunting partners.

Togruta grow their fangs in first, babies have rather dull fangs so they don't accidentally hurt someone.

Togruta be crawling at 7 months and by 13 months they'll start to walk.

They lose their first teeth at 3 years old and have many replacement teeth for if/when one falls out.

The society is very egalitarian like even if it is more female lead.

The reason for female prevalence is just that they grow faster and have longer, therefore more sensitive Montrals and Lekku.

Montrals are very sensitve and off world/younger Togruta can be easier overwhelmed by loud noises or busy planets.

There are special hoods for more sensitve Togruta to wear so they aren't constantly overwhelmed or suffering from headaches.

They're the only Togruta who regularly cover their Montrals.

Sensitive hearing Togruta tend to have a very low degree of Force Sensitivity. It's not enough to be a Jedi or ver detectable but it is enough to increase their skills on the hunt.

The Togruta view of sexuality and gender is basically, 'That's rad buddy'

It's not that big of a deal for them.

They are extremely communal and perceptive, they can very easily tell when someone is upset or sick.

Child abuse and domestic abuse is extremely and I mean extremely rare with Togruta, natural selectiom weeded out all the problems like that with their communal living since no one would really want to be around an abusive Togruta and they were usually exiled from all tribes.

The ovulation cycle for Togruta is one week every 3-4 months. It starts when they are about fourteen.

Pregnancy term is a full standard year so twelve months.

Twins are more common than they are in other species and not too surprising, about a 40-30% chance.

Identical and fraternal are just as common as each other.

Even with fraternal twins, if one is Force Sensitve, the other is guaranteed to be as well.

Triplets are about half as common, about 20-15% likely.

Quadruplets is 10% and five in one pregnancy is the rarest, being only about 3% of births.

The likelyhood of multipe pregnancy increases if the carrier has lives with Akul and been present for Akul births.

Usually Togruta raised by Akul from a very young age do this since they come to think of themselves as an Akul and their body tries to mimic the behaviors and biology of an Akul.

I think it's emersion therapy?

Akul have different stripe patterns and colors depending on where they live and there are genetic patterns and colorations, the three most noticeable ones are the Spot morph, Inverted morph and Albino morph.

Spot morph is where the Akul has spots instead of stripes. It can be present with other morphs.

Inverted morph is where the color of the stripes is swaped with the color of the rest of their body. It can be present with the spots and albino morphs

Albino morph is a lack of pigmentation in the fur of an Akul. It makes the fur a very pale but still clear color, like a very light orange and the stripes are pure white with pink or red eyes.

The tamer breed of Akul live in communities of a few pairs, some of their up to 3 year old cubs and younger non related Akul who've joined.

They don't always stay together but they are comfortable with sharing territory since they live in more prey abundant areas.

The Star Wars Tarzan is actually based on a Togruta story, a proven true story about an ancient Togruta who was found by an Akul and raised.

Togruta have a special custom where they exchane something that would be woven or tied into their partner's head pieces, it symbolizes their love and how they are now apart of each other, it is also asking their gods for protection.

Togruta have a pantheon of gods and deities.

I meant to answer this a long time ago. I’m so sorry Anon. Hopefully, it’s worth the wait.

For those on desktop, there’s more under the cut. For those on mobile, my condolences.

So according to some sources that I don’t care to look up right now, Togruta language sounds like bird noises, or they just really like birds, and this detail alone is what I base all of my Togruta headcanons around. Shili is full of all kinds of birds of paradise, of all sizes, in all habitats, and all of them are revered by Togruta. All Togruta languages sounds like bird sounds, but different dialects sound like different bird calls entirely. Because Togruta kits are functionally deaf, there is a sign-language mode that incorporates both lek movements and hand movements.

Related to this: Walking through Shili cities, or through Togruta ethnic enclaves, is to be subjected through a glorious raucous of birdcalls.

Those who traditionally studied birds, who knew how to trap and release them humanely, who protected bird habitats and knew how to harvest feathers sustainably, who know how to sing traditional Togruta epics, are called Birdsong Priests and Priestesses, and are religious leaders in Togruta culture. Modern Ornithology is taught in universities, but the field is split between scientists, and the clergy class.

Birds are considered sacred because they can fly back and forth between the land and the sky. Thus, their feathers are considered sacred too. Featherwork features prominently in Togruta cultural artifacts, and can be found in regalia worn by traditional dancers, to feather standards and religious paraphernalia used in ceremonies, to headdresses and articles of clothing worn by all members of society. Sky blue feathers are reserved for the royal family only (anyone else caught using them face...consequences), and darker blue feathers for the nobility and aristocracy, but all other colors can be used by everyone else.

Speaking of traditional dancers, lots of Togruta traditional and cultural dances resemble the dances done by the birds of paradise. Because Togruta montrals are sensitive to gongs and sounds from metal instruments, traditional instruments are made of wood. There are lots of wooden drums and flutes. Dances are performed for all sorts of reasons, and religious dances are performed by the Birdsong clergy or are performed under their direction because they accompany a birdsong chant.

In addition to feathers, traditional clothes are woven through specially processed red and white ti grasses found all over Shili. These natural fibers paired with the pigments found in the soil of Shili make for especially pretty cloths stamped with geometric patterns. These patterns are inspired by the shapes of nature, like mountains, rivers, akul teeth, lek and montral patterns, etc.

(You probably suspect by now that a lot of my headcanons for Togruta culture is inspired by cultures found throughout Polynesia. This assumption is correct.)

Traditional Togruta weapons are made of akul teeth bound to carved pieces of native wood. Togruta martial arts are especially mean and vicious, and are not for the faint of heart.

Now for Togruta biology. Besides the birds, almost everything else on Shili has evolved to be the most dangerous creatures possible, and Togruta are no exception. Togruta bones, nails, and teeth are denser than most species’, their frames are packed with muscle, and runty adults still hit 6′0″ not including their montrals (I headcanon Ahsoka to be about 6′0″ without montrals). They have a special coating of cells at the back of their eyes that reflects light and allows them to see in very low light. Togruta are obligate carnivores, so they eat a lot of meat.

There’s seafood, pork, bantha, poultry, etc (obviously, they don’t eat birds of paradise lol). Togruta eat meat raw (their systems can handle it) and they also barbecue. Togruta barbecue is incredibly popular and tasty, and there are chains all over the galaxy.

Akuls are more reclusive than popularly believed; they tend to avoid civilization as much as possible. The akuls that do get hunted are old/sick/injured/desperate akuls that cannot hunt for themselves anymore, so they start killing people. When problem akuls pop up, locals of proper age just gear up and go out to get rid of it, and they happen to bring the kits that are old enough to learn how to defend the village/town/neighborhood. When the akul’s brought down, these kits get teeth for their headdresses. Akul hunts aren’t a solo thing as depicted in popular culture (holonet shows and holomovies).

Royalty and aristocracy Togruta usually reach 7′0″ and over. I personally headcannon Shaak Ti as 7′2″ (at least. She is TALL). She insists that she isn’t a chief, but whenever she visits Shili and Kiros, she’s called “Chief Ti” anyway. The King of Shili sent her a feather standard with dark blue feathers that she loans to a Coruscanti museum, where it’s on display.

Some history: The first king of Shili started as chief from one of the more powerful tribes. He envisioned a united and strong Shili to better politically maneuver through the oncoming Galactic Republic, so with the blessing of his birdsong priests, he waged war across the planet and won his crown (you know, as most incoming dynasties do). The current King of Shili is his great-great grandson, and he’s actually the most progressive king that Shili has ever had (not progressive as in like... pacifist though. He’s not a toothless fool lol).

This leads me to politics: Governor Roshti of Kiros was considered an odd one by Shili standards. While most Shili Togruta subscribe to "sheathed knife” politics, Roshti announced that the people of Kiros will employ “open hand” philosophy. After the whole Kiros colony was kidnapped by Zygerrian slavers, and was brought back only with the help of the Jedi, Roshti was quietly replaced with another governor with more “teeth.”

After the whole Kadavo debacle, the King of Shili awarded Ahsoka Tano with an honorary knighthood and Shili citizenship. This move is...controversial, because Kiros is trying to gain independence from Shili. For Shili to reward Ahsoka’s actions on behalf of Kiros, that has implications. And for Ahsoka to accept/reject this knighthood also has implications. I would like to read/write a fic that explores this (Shaak Ti comes along to serve as an advisor because she’s had more experience navigating these political waters and maybe other Jedi come too and it becomes a Three Musketeers AU? I don’t know, don’t look at me like that).

Well I do now.

To be honest I get the strongest pirate vibes from Obi-Wan,he can be a rogue and pirate one in the same right???I can just imagine an AU where Obi-Wan is a notorious intergalactic pirate/spice runner and Anakin is a ship’s captain of her majesty’s royal navy for the GAR and is sent by the Republic to chase him down and bring him in. (God the navy uniforms for this would be straight out of Treasure Planet,hot damn.) Of course Anakin has to do a bunch of undercover work/sleuthing because no one in the Outer Rim is going to trust a GAR officer,especially when he’s asking about the famed Negotiator,folk hero in the border territories and beyond the dominion of the Republic.

But when Anakin and his naval officer first lieutenant Captain Rex and the rest of the 501st do catch up to the infamous criminal, Anakin is horrified to discover that the pirate is not only gorgeous,charming, and well dressed,but he’s an obscene flirt as well.It doesn’t help that Obi-Wan makes it very well known he thinks Anakin is an adorable uptight square and he’s 100% committed to corrupting the GAR officer and bringing him into his life of crime.Anakin is flustered and blustering bravado in every one of their interactions (The Lady doth protest too much,methinks) always yelling and threatening to drag his sorry carcass back to Coruscant to rot in a cell.Obi-Wan of course,takes unending pleasure in making him go blotchy and red every time they duel (because Obi-Wan is totally force sensitive too and has an illegal lightsaber).

Most of their swashbuckling duels,which always span half the length of a star destroyer and involve dramatic theatrics like the both of them running across walls and swinging from the ceiling like something straight out of Princess Bride or an Errol Flynn movie,always end with Obi-Wan holding his lightsaber to Anakin’s throat as he pins him to a wall. (Anakin is totally letting him every time because he learned like a month after chasing him that Obi-Wan would never actually hurt him and they both relish the sexually laden threats of maiming) It reaches the point that the clones and Obi-Wan’s crew (Ventress is 100% his first mate) just stand back and let the two posture and eyefuck fight as they take bets.

Of course eventually Anakin gives in,but only after Rex basically begs him to let them join the pirates because all they do when their destroyer is boarded by the criminals is have a celebratory reunion drink and blow credits betting on the love duels between Anakin and Obi-Wan which moonlight as the clones’ and pirates’ dinner theater shows.It all abruptly ends when one of their duels has too close a call and Obi-Wan accidentally burns Anakin’s face with his saber.They fall into each other’s arms crying, make out in front of everyone, Ventress wins the bet and the 501st join Obi-Wan’s crew to become the most infamous and revered pirate fleet in the entire galaxy.

(Anakin totally keeps the royal navy space jacket half of the GAR uniform, grows out the awful regulation haircut so he can finally have the ponytail he’s always dreamed of, and the two become ridiculously well dressed,pirate husbands with an entire crew of their children the clones and other wayward rogues and orphans they pick up through the years. Ahsoka definitely joins in later as the coolest space pirate togruta to ever exist (the Clones are all obsessed)

And they all lived happily ever after in a life of glorious crime and riches.

Decided to focus on Togruta, since they’re quickly becoming my favorite Star Wars race. There’s so much freedom in their designs, they’re a lot of fun to draw.

*Note: There isn’t much canon information regarding Togruta culture, so everything below is my personal headcannon. 

* As sitting Senator of Shili, Lethaa wears gold bands around her montrals and lekku, which represent her service to her planet. While the additional headdress is a personal choice, the green gem is a traditional item for a Togruta in power who follows the Old Ways. The Togruta call the gem “Shili’s Blessing”, as it is only found in a deep cavern during an individual’s Reflection Rite. Jedi have long believed these gems to actually be a variation of kyber crystal, but have been denied access to the cavern by the planet’s spiritual leaders for millennia.

On her belt, Lethaa proudly displays rancor teeth, prizes of her now-famous hunt on Felucia. Hundreds of thousands of Togruta watched her take down the massive predator on the holonet during her election campaign, and the sight of the actual teeth often impresses them more than her status as Senator. For a culture that deeply respects hunters and routinely wears trophies of their prey, the populace holds her in high esteem. The teeth were polished and attached to the belt by Lethaa’s at-the-time soon-to-be wife, Naras Tyn. 

 * Naras Tyn's formal title is First Physician of Corvala. As a renowned healer, she is recognized in public by the simple gold and grey band framing her face, with a red stone inlaid in the center. Top-tier physicians wear these headbands to be allowed unlimited access in emergency situations; in addition to being instantly recognizable, the stone contains a small chip that digitally conveys the wearer's credentials. The headbands afford the wearer intense respect, due in part to the old adage, “to take life is a simple task, able to be done by many; to mend and save it is something Shili granted only to a few”.

Though not much of a hunter herself, Naras has a deep appreciation of those who are able to fight and bring down their prey. Around her neck, she wears the teeth of a ghaie - a reptilian predator - which was a wedding gift from Lethaa.

 * Votaash wears a headwrap/cowl signifying their status as governor. These coverings are purple, blue, or green in color, fastened over the heart by a silver clasp, the shape of which shows up in ancient Togrutan motifs. By marking a governor’s status with a cloth rather than teeth or expensive jewels, it demonstrates that the governor does not display pride above the people, or deem themselves better; instead, they are a servant for those they rule. This tradition carried on when Roshti was elected governor of the colonist world Kiros.

 * By the time of the Clone Wars, Hubrick Sha no longer held a seat in the Senate. However, Lethaa invited him to join her advisory staff, and the former opponents worked together on matters involving Shili. As such, he wears circlets only on his montrals, denoting his experience in serving his people, and showing his deference to his successor. The akul teeth he wears around his neck are from the first hunt he successfully undertook alone as a young man. While wearing akul teeth is common practice among Togruta, there were many who wondered why the former Senator never displayed them more prominently, or included any other hunting trophies in his wardrobe. After his loss to Lethaa, the general consensus was that he hadn’t felt the need to display his culture while he sat in the Senate. 

 * The Shol'i is the primary spiritual leader on Shili, the name directly meaning “Speaker of Shili.” There is no higher position in Togrutan culture, and the Shol’i exists outside of normal political structure. While she does not directly rule the people, she is the final say in all matters regarding the Old Ways, and those of Shili’s Sacred Lands. She leads the Council of Elders, and her counsel is routinely sought after by the sitting governor. The Shol’i is revered by all Togruta. Her garments are simple, and she is always barefoot so she can be in direct contact with Shili. Multiple headdress of teeth and claws, beads and feathers, stones and gems, have all been handed down and added to over the generations, all with different meanings and purposes.
