Foul Legacy's very scared of even touching you at first- you're so much smaller than him; a fragile mortal akin to a flower; and he's... well, he's a monster, plain and simple. an Abyssal monster no less- and he desperately doesn't want to hurt you in any way, shape, or form. you deserve to be kept safe and warm, away from the corruption of the world- away from him. so for the longest time he keeps his distance, skirting away from your fingers, merely keeping an eye on you by watching you from another room in your house

but no matter how he tries to deny it, Childe still craves your touch, your soft, gentle hands holding him close, and gradually he strays closer and closer until he's comfortable sitting beside you on the couch, claws itching to wrap around your fingers. but he still never touches you. ever

so you, with a heart full of love and affection for this peculiar, starlit beast, invite him yourself

Childe's on the verge of drifting off, the warmth and comfort of your little home seeping into his weary bones, and you notice the way his head nods to the side only to jolt awake when he feels himself falling. so with a wide smile you open your arms, waving him over and patting your lap. Childe lets out a startled screech, looking from you to your lap and back again, shaking his head wildly- he'll hurt you, he know he will, because that's the only thing Foul Legacy knows how to do. but you simply keep smiling that sweet smile, arms outstretched like you're asking for a hug, and Childe feels his will crumbling at your kind words

tentatively he scoots closer, slowly leaning down and settling his head onto your legs, careful to keep most of his weight off of you. quickly you begin petting and stroking his hair, and Childe yelps at how nice it feels, melting into your touch, talons instinctively kneading your legs. the laugh you let out is full of warmth, sweet adoration flowing like honey as you scratch behind his horns and Childe purrs, body relaxing more than it has in weeks. whenever you stop petting his crystalline eye peeks open and he lets out a whine, asking for you to keep going because he hasn't felt this warm and safe and loved in so long

you caress his hair until he drifts into sleep, and when he wakes, you're still there, humming a tune and flipping through a novel, and Childe murmurs and nestles his head against your legs

Headcanon:

Shawn and Gus are having a sleepover but it's kind of a special "boy's night" thing between the two of them and they apologize for not inviting Jules. Jules respects the tradition and decides to invite Lassie to her place so they can have their own sleepover. Jules is super excited and pulls out every sleepover activity in the book:

"Let's watch a movie! I'll make popcorn!"

"Can I paint your nails?"

"Let's make friendship bracelets!"

"Let's play two truths and a lie!"

"Can I draw on your arm?"

"Let's have a pillow fight! I bet I could beat you!"

"We should make a secret friendship handshake!"

"Sooo... do you liiike anyone?"

Lassie tries to pretend that the whole thing is lame but he's never been invited to a sleepover in his life so he's secretly really happy. He eventually gives in and lets Jules style his hair and tells her about the person at the shooting range that he has a crush on.

And yes, the sleepovers become a weekly thing.

So I just got my brakes done for my car, Hades. My wife’s car needs new brakes and had a sputtering moment the other day. They also have to commute way farther for work than I do, and remembered they were low on gas.

My commute is like. Seven minutes. So I said to take my car and I’d give their car very gentle use for the day.

Which is why it was distressing to get a call from them in the midst of picking blackberries for their birthday cheesecake informing me that my cars tire light popped on. They checked it and found one tire basically flat. It turned out there was a screw in it. Their boss helped them put on my spare and took it to his guy to see if it could be patched- alas, no, it’s too close to the rim.

So now they had all that to deal with. Instead of a drama free car day it was Car Stress Galore.

hello it is i, your local tumblrarian, here to drink tea from her pumpkin mug and tell u the following important announcement: being on tumblr every single day is possibly not a great idea. let's use a metaphor here. it's like squeezing a lemon every day, but it's only got so much juice, you'll only end up getting frustrated and upset that the juice is no longer flowing. and then it's building up this habit of squeezing lemons every day, but then one day you're not around and you're worried, because what if the lemon had juice today? what if we missed the juicing opportunity?

but now let's sprinkle in the following notion: every once in a while, we step outside of the lemon juicer, and we go to the market to buy more lemons. the next day, we wake up, we go back to the juicer, and what do you know! the juice is flowing again!

gonna step back from the metaphor here to just explain a few things. we have all been in the situation of staring wretchedly at the computer screen, begging for a drop of inspiration. most of us are online each and every day. and that's okay! i'm the same! but maybe we need to refresh the cycle here, because i took a day to myself today, i consciously refused to go online until 6PM, and even that 24 hour break was enough to get some very exciting ideas going! and tomorrow i'll be writing more than i have in weeks!

we put too much pressure on ourselves to be here 24/7, and it's time that we just knocked that out and started treating writing as what it always was: a hobby. so go take a break. go out for a walk, go get lunch in a nice cafe, step away from the computer and just let yourself do something that isn't absorbed in writing or in your education/career.

Cause the stress of doing something new without knowing exactly everything that will happen is gonna get me bad one of these days. Nikolai is a pretty laid back and chill sort of man, so he usually doesn’t mind you putting your hand over his heart. Maybe not while you’re walking, though, he doesn’t want you to trip. It’s very sweet to him: You wanna make sure that he’s alive? That he’s still with you? That his heart is still beating? Trust me, not even death could take him away from you. He’d dig his way out of his grave after killing the reaper with his bare hands himself. You can always put your hand over his chest while you’re at home together, though. It’s nice to feel you. After a while it would be reassuring to him as well, feeling that you’re there, that you’re with him. He thinks it’s sweet that you always want to be touching him, because if it was up to you he’d do the same thing with you. After some time, once he’s realized that you’re always touching him whenever you can, he tries to get into positions that facilitate you touching him a bit. Usually lies on his back when you’re cuddling so you have full access to him. Can and will fall asleep like that, but will also want to hold you back. Will also put his hand over your heart as well so he can “get back at you”. In reality, feeling your heartbeat is also just nice and reassuring to him. However, he sometimes might lie on your chest in order to hear it as well, something like it lulls him to sleep, after all. You can put your hand over his chest in public as well, though, he doesn’t particularly mind cuddling in public either. There’s a good chance you’ll be nicely clothed, though, so you won’t feel his heartbeat unless you slip your hand under his clothes. You can do that, he doesn’t care about strangers staring in public. However, once it’s time to continue walking around, release him. You can continue your antics once you’ve found another nice bench to sit on.
