Taxi Mom
My last era of rising junior/graduating senior has commenced (hah! See what I did there?) and with it comes driving my child all over hell because for some reason my kids never get their licenses until they’re in their twenties.
Sixx had something to do every fricking day this week and I’m just exhausted and marveling at how fast my gas tank empties itself.
Monday: Class Marshall at the Underclassmen Awards Ceremony (at which she herself received 9 awards).
Tuesday: Physical Exam for Governor’s School this summer.
Wednesday: Americorps Tutoring work
Thursday: Americorps Tutoring AND Class Marshall at the Seniors’ Awards ceremony/dinner where she served ice tea for 2 hours and now wants to be a waitress.
I told her she comes by it honestly as that’s what I did all through high school and college.
Today. Nothing! All I had to do was pick her up from school
And thankfully, James picked up Subs on his way home from work (Veggie Lovers for me) so I didn’t have to cook or clean tonight, except pop a pizza into the oven for the boy.
Now I’m gonna pop on my sneakers and put some things away in the attic so I don’t have to tomorrow. And I need Sixx to play kitty hockey and keep them from trying to follow me into the attic.
Here goes!

Green-Eyed Monster
Summary: Lando isn’t too happy about his favorite PR coordinator getting reassigned to Daniel.
Author’s note: I’m used to writing smut but wanted to try my hand at something different. Let me know what you think!
I also have a sort-of sequel out called Dinner for Four you guys can check out too!
Tumblr media
It was set to be an exciting weekend of racing as free practice 2 for the Belgian Grand Prix was in full swing. The clouds hovering over the circuit made no sign of letting up, drizzling down on the track all day.
The rain leveled the playing field in a way though. In the rain, it wasn’t so much about having the fastest car. Rather it was about which driver had the skills to maneuver their car the best. And Lando Norris was performing particularly well under the conditions. All practice long his turns were tight, and he managed to create traction even on the wet tracks. There was still one practice left tomorrow before qualifying, and while you never know what could happen out there, he was very confident he’d secure his best starting position yet. Hell, the way he was driving his car today, he might even be starting the race this Sunday on pole.
After free practice ended, Lando was still absolutely buzzing. A mixture of the adrenaline still rushing through him and all the anticipation of tomorrow. From the window of the McLaren office, he spotted the one person he couldn’t wait to share all his excitement with. Y/n was walking towards the office in her McLaren jacket keeping warm in the cold. Even in the gloominess and rain, she stood out to him like a ray of sunshine. The smile on his face fell a bit when he noticed who she was walking beside though. It was his new teammate Daniel Ricciardo. He and Y/n huddled together avoiding the rain under the papaya orange brolly Daniel held for them.
That should be me, Lando thought to himself. He was the one y/n always shared a brolly with. He was the one she always walked the paddock with. He was the driver she spent the most time with.
Of course, this was all before Daniel joined McLaren.
For the past few seasons, Y/n was part of Lando’s PR team working under his PR manager Charlotte. From the moment they met Lando and Y/n clicked instantly. She was and still is, one of the few at McLaren who was around his age. Most of his colleagues were a bit older so it was nice having her around. Someone who could relate to him in ways the others just couldn’t. They laughed at the same things, understood the same references, and genuinely enjoyed each other’s company. Naturally, they became more than just colleagues and became close friends.
Lando was gutted when she was reassigned to Daniel this season. The reassignment was a great promotion and step forward for her career. She had started off as a PR intern and after 3 seasons was now a junior PR manager. So he was happy for her to that extent. But his happiness was soon overshadowed by jealousy. The green-eyed monster in him grew over the course of the season watching y/n spend more time with Daniel and less with him. Watching her become closer to Daniel as the season went on. Watching her do all the things she used to do with him, with Daniel now.
He could hear their laughter as they entered the McLaren office together. Y/n throwing her head back at something Daniel was showing her on his phone. Lando tried not to sneer, but what could have possibly been that funny?
Daniel got pulled away by some other staff and that was when Y/n spotted Lando. When she waved at him his sour expression perked up immediately, her smile simply contagious even from across the lobby.
“Norris,” Y/n greeted him cheekily, taking a seat next to him on the lounge chair. “I saw your last few lap times. Very impressive.”
She nudged his arm playfully as he grinned like a schoolboy at the praise. He jumped right into telling her all about how amazing his practice went. Y/n loved hearing the passion in his voice, seeing the way his eyes lit up as he spoke, feeling the love he has for the sport. It was inspiring. Even at such a young age, he was so driven and disciplined. Y/n admired that about him.
She listened intently to his retelling of the practice session today until he was rudely interrupted by a loud ringing coming from Y/n’s phone tucked in her jacket pocket. She shot Lando an apologetic look before stepping away to answer the call. Lando sighed, trying not to take it personally. He knew that work came first. But it made him feel unimportant nonetheless. He didn’t even get to finish the last bit of what he was saying to her. By the time Y/n ended the call and stepped back out to the lobby area, Lando had already left for his post-practice driver’s briefing.
It wasn’t till the end of the day that they ran into each other again. Lando saw Y/n was exiting the paddock, making her way to the parking lot and he sped up to walk beside her.
“Have you got a ride to the hotel already?” he asked hoping she’d say no. He was riding back with Charlotte and their car had an open seat left.
“I do actually,” she regretted to admit, “Daniel offered to give me a ride. Sorry.”
Lando tried not to make his disappointment too obvious and save some of his pride. “Don’t apologize. I just wanted to make sure you were getting back okay.”
If only Y/n had bumped into Lando earlier, she would’ve definitely accepted his offer instead. It would’ve been great to spend some time together away from the office and paddock for once. Even though they both worked for McLaren, they were so busy with their own agendas it was almost impossible to hang out or talk the way they used to. Her previous position required her to be with Lando nearly 24/7. Now they barely saw each other. And when they did happen to be in the same room, more often than not, she was caught up handling something for Daniel. The extra responsibilities that came with her new role demanded more of her and more of her time. She loved her new position and Daniel was great to work with but she missed working with Lando for sure.
“Maybe next time though,” Y/n suggested.
Lando nodded, forcing a smile onto his face. “Yeah, maybe next time.”
Seated in the car waiting for Charlotte, Lando watched Y/n meet up with Daniel at the other end of the parking lot. Lando scoffed to himself as Daniel, ever the gentleman opened the door for her. Yet again Daniel was getting in his way. He knew Daniel wasn’t purposefully trying to steal Y/n away. That would be crazy. But it sure felt like that sometimes. Lando’s mind raced with thoughts of y/n and Daniel. What they did when they were alone. How well they really knew each other. If maybe Daniel was actually interested in Y/n and that’s why he’s been taking so much of her time. Or even worse, maybe Y/n was starting to fall for Daniel’s Australian charm and actively choosing to spend all her time with him.
His jealousy brewed on the drive to the hotel. Lando took a deep breath and tried to shake those thoughts away but they were stuck to the back of his mind.
Lando’s feelings for y/n were kept bottled up so deep inside him. He never revealed them to her or acted upon them because it would be inappropriate. Despite seeing her as more than a colleague, at the end of the day that's what she was. So he suppressed his feelings. He told himself to just be satisfied he gets to spend time with her at all, even if it was strictly at a professional capacity. Then Daniel came along and those feelings surfaced along with an added element of jealousy. Admittedly this jealousy is probably why he hasn’t tried to bond with Daniel as much as he did with his previous teammate Carlos. He didn’t have anything against him. How could he? Daniel was such a nice guy. But even still (whether he was aware of it or not) Lando hasn't fully let his guard down with his new teammate and it stemmed from being threatened by Daniel's budding friendship with Y/n.
When he arrived at the circuit the next day the rain, like Lando’s jealousy, had not let up at all overnight. It was looking really bad out there. In the garage, Lando went over the game plan for this weather with his engineers. From the corner of his eyes he saw Y/n walk in. She had two cups of coffee in her hand. Lando rolled his eyes discreetly as she handed the other coffee to Daniel. Of course, he thought.
Y/n was just repaying Daniel for covering her coffee yesterday when she forgot her credit card. After going over some quick points with Daniel, she walked across the garage to Lando. In her jacket pocket, she had a bar of Belgian chocolate that Lando loved. She picked it up just for him when she grabbed the coffee knowing the coffee station doesn't carry it often. Lando couldn’t eat it now, but he could save it for after qualifying. It would be like a reward for doing so well. Because he was going to do well today, Y/n just knew he would. But when she got to him, she never got the chance to give it to him. He was being super weird, and standoffish.
“What’s up your butt today?” Y/n joked trying to crack a smile out of him.
“Nothing,” Lando said flatly, shrugging.
Y/n wasn’t convinced. She eyed him suspiciously. Something was off about him for sure. He couldn’t even be bothered to look at her as she spoke.
“What’s going on with you? Seriously, you okay?”
Receiving no response, she tried again. “Are you upset with me or something?”
“Why would I be upset y/n,” he snapped. He looked over some stats on the iPad absentmindedly. Just to look busy, to avoid eye contact because he was indeed upset. But he wasn’t about to admit to her that he’s in fit over a cup of coffee.
Brows furrowed, Y/n continued to push. “I don’t know. You just seem like you’re upset.”
Snapping his head up to look at her, his eyes locked onto hers before dismissing her pointedly. “Well, I said I’m not upset, okay? So if you don’t mind, I'm a bit busy here y/n. I’m sure you have things to do as well.”
Lando instantly regretted his words the moment they left his lips. It was the green-eyed monster in him lashing out. But by the time he saw the hurt flash across her eyes, it was too late. He just went back to his iPad too ashamed to look her in the eyes again after that.
Feeling hurt and confused, Y/n started to walk away. She was speechless. Lando had never, ever snapped at her like that before. Running over the interaction in her head, anger set in and she stopped in her tracks. Marching back over to him she was ready to give him a piece of her mind. He had no right to speak to her that way. Turning him by the shoulder, she forced him to face her.
“Hey, I don’t know what’s going on with you Lando, but you can’t speak to me that way,” Y/n said to him sharply. She kept her voice low so as not to cause a scene. But everyone was packed in there so tight they heard her regardless.
“I am nothing but kind and respectful to you. I expect to be treated the same. I thought we were friends. You don’t talk to a friend like that, especially when it's completely uncalled for. I mean, if you won’t tell me what’s wrong that’s fine. Just don’t take it out on me.”
Now it was Lando who was speechless. He already felt horrible for what he said and knew that he totally deserved to be told off. Everything she was saying was spot on. But it was what she did next that absolutely gutted him.
“Here,” she handed him the chocolate bar she had in her pocket. “This is why I came to see you in the first place. Thought you would’ve appreciated this.”
And with that she left him, walking all the way out of the garage this time.
Looking at the chocolate bar in his hand he felt like such an idiot. Letting his jealousy get the best of him he ended up hurting the exact person he was afraid of losing. Not quite the interaction you want to have with the girl you’re secretly head over heels for right before stepping into a racecar. He took some deep breaths, trying to compartmentalize it all. As a driver, you need to separate your emotions before racing. When you’re in the car going at speeds of over 300 km/h, you need to be solely focused on driving for your safety and the safety of the drivers around you. As hard as it was, he pushed aside thoughts of how bad he messed up with Y/n and focused on driving right now.
Out on the track for the last free practice session, Lando and the other drivers were complaining about the wet tracks and lack of visibility. It was nearing the point of being too dangerous to be out there. However, the FIA stewards decided not to pull out the red flag and so the drivers were still set to complete the qualifying round. Lando had a phenomenal practice session and was doing incredible during his first few laps of qualifying. The rain had only gotten worse though. But Lando kept going. He kept on pushing and pushing until his car eventually lost traction and he lost control. His car slammed into the safety barrier before spinning off around and around.
It was a big crash. Everyone on the paddock was holding their breath to see if Lando was alright. Y/n and everyone else in the McLaren garage let out a breath of relief when they heard Lando on the radio.
“Fuck,” he exclaimed angrily as his car finally came to a stop.
After that, the FIA had no choice but to bring out the red flags and stop the session. Something they should have done way earlier. If they had, this could’ve all been avoided. What a shame for Lando. He was definitely set to get pole with the way he was flying down the track. Now his session was over, no chances of improving his lap times as his car was too damaged to continue. Looking on the bright side, he was relieved to come out of the crash all in one piece. And at least his car wasn’t too beat up. The mechanics and engineers would definitely be able to fix it all up by tomorrow.
Lando retired to his motorhome after his checkup at the medical center. They took an x-ray of his elbow which had taken the brunt of the crash. Thankfully it was just bruised up a bit, with no major damage.
Frustrated, he ripped off his cap and tossed it across the room. This was not at all the way he thought his day would go. First, he crashes and burns with Y/n, then he crashes and burns out on the track too. He was ready to just go back to the hotel and escape this day before something else happens. Slinging his backpack on, he opened the door to his motorhome. When he stepped out he was surprised to see Y/n pacing back and forth in front of him. They stared at each other, in silence, for a good few seconds before she finally closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him close to her. Lando was not expecting such a warm embrace considering the way their last encounter went. Still shaken from the crash, a big hug was just what he needed. He relaxed into her, placing his arms around her waist. The fruity and familiar scent of her favorite perfume filled his lungs. It was a delightful change from the smell of burning tires and smoke that still lingered in his nose
Y/n was so relieved to see that he was okay. After seeing that big crash, she was worried sick about him. Any of the animosity between them was completely forgotten. Pulling back, holding him at an arms width, she examined every inch of him frantically, brows furrowed in concern. Her eyes landed on his arm, and she picked it up gingerly.
“How are you? Your arm? They said your elbow got hurt,” she asked worriedly.
“It’s fine. I’m fine. X-rays are all clear. It’s just a bit bruised,” Lando explained.
Her concern for him, the fact she was out here waiting for him, holding her in his arms just then, all made his heart feel warm and full. It was a feeling he never wanted to end. At that moment, he knew he couldn't hold in those pent-up feelings any longer. He needed to get them off his chest now.
“Listen,” he started grabbing both her hands in his, “I have to say, about earlier, y/n I’m sorry about how I acted. You did nothing wrong. Nothing wrong at all. I’m not upset with you. It’s just-I just miss having you around. Okay, I miss spending time with you. You’re more than just some colleague or a regular friend to me. And I never realized how big a part you played in my life until you weren’t in it anymore. Then I saw all the time you were spending with Daniel…I guess I got a bit jealous. And well, what I’m trying to say, is-”
“Lando,” y/n said cutting off his rambling. She heard all she needed to validate her own feelings for him. "Just shut up and kiss me already,”
Placing her hands around his neck, she brought his face down to hers, their lips connecting tenderly. Lando couldn't believe what was happening. In a state of shock, it took a second before he started returning her kiss. He placed his hands on her waist, as the kiss grew hungrier. Lando nipped at her bottom lip before slipping his tongue in there. They were without a care about the people around them and passing by. This was a moment they’ve both been wanting and waiting for and they were going to enjoy it. Caught up in the kiss, Y/n's hand trailed down his neck, over his strong shoulders, and down his chest.
“Ow, ouch,” Lando yelped against her lips as she hit a sore spot on his side.
Y/n pulled away, putting a hand over her mouth as she realized what she had just done. “Oh my god. I’m so sorry. I-I got carried away. Are you okay?”
“I’m good, I’m good,” Lando assured her.
His side did hurt a little, but he was so high off that kiss they just shared it numbed the feeling. They both stood there, smiling sheepishly at each other. Not sure what to do next, or what to say now.
“Do you-”
“We can-”
They both spoke up at the same time, before chuckling awkwardly at each other.
“Ladies first,” Lando said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
“Well, I was going to ask if I could squeeze in with you and Charlotte? I don’t have a ride back to the hotel tonight.”
“Of course you can,” Lando said a little too eagerly. “I was actually just gonna ask you the same.”
“Well, perfect,” Y/n smiled up at him.
Her eyes ran across his face, admiring all his features. His messy brown curls that fell perfectly in front of his forehead. The beauty marks scattered across his face. And that cute little gap between his front teeth. And goodness his lips. His lips that felt just as soft as they looked.
Seeing her gaze fall to his lips, Lando decided to continue where they had left off earlier. Gently tucking stray strands of her hair behind her ears, he used the same hand to cup her face before leaning in. Lips puckered ready to feel her lips against his again until-
“Save it, lover boy. It’s time to go.”
Rolling his eyes at the interruption, he turned around to the source. It was Charlotte standing behind a few feet away, a knowing look on her face. She laughed to herself at his reaction. She thought of Lando as a little brother and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give him a hard time.
“How long have you been there? How much have you heard?” Lando asked, mortified that she had just heard him pour out his heart to y/n.
“Long enough,” Charlotte shot them a wink. “I’ll meet you two at the car.”
Lando turned back to Y/n who looked just as mortified. She didn’t know how she was going to look Cahrlotte in the eye during the car ride let alone tomorrow at the office.
“Guess we should get going,” Y/n said.
“I guess so. Don’t wanna keep Charlotte waiting any longer,” Lando chuckled.
The two were walking out of the paddock when all of a sudden, Lando swung his backpack to his front searching for something in the pocket. Y/n could n’t contain her smile when he pulled out the chocolate bar she had gotten him. Opening the wrapper and snapping it in two. He took a big bite of one of the halves before offering her the other.
“For putting up with me today, and always,” Lando said through a mouth full of chocolate as he handed it to her.
The two continued on their way to the parking lot, munching away.

*can we still be friends?*
You and Drew dated throughout high school and even college, but after college Drew decided to move to Atlanta, leaving you behind with a broken heart. Years later you find eachother by accident , and Drew wants to spark things back up.
WARNING : smut, language!
- also, this was not proof read so fair warning 😂
“ OH MY GOD!” You screamed as you looked over your recent email you had just received .
“ what?!” Your roommate yelled from her bedroom in panic. You met her in the hallway from your room, a wide grin on your face as you held your phone against your chest.
“ y/n if you don’t tell me what the hell you’re up here screaming for “ she replied before you turned your phone around facing her .
“ no fucking way “ she beamed in excitement as she read the email.
“ I got the part “ you grinned excitedly. You had been auditioning for acting parts since you had graduated college . You had gotten small one - two line scenes that paid decent but you had yet to get a big role. Today though you had gotten an email from your agent that you had gotten the role for a character on a new Netflix show called ‘ outer banks’ . You had gotten the role to be a pogue. You weren’t a main character but you were going to be definitely known on screen .
“ oh my fucking god!” She screamed out , you both jumping with excitement.
“Wait when do you start? Where are they filming?” She asked .
“ Charleston South Carolina ! It says I’m suppose to be there by tomorrow morning “ you beamed.
“ we’ll what the hell are you doing still standing here ?! Go pack! “ she demanded.
****
“Y/n you ready?” You agent asked from the Uber you were both in.
“ I am so ready” you beamed excitedly.
“ okay we’ll were meeting some of the producers and casts for a chemistry reading “ you looked over at her in confusion.
“ but I already did a chemistry reading “ you replied.
“ yes with the ‘ pogues’ “ she replied. “ your character is going to be having most her interactions with two ‘kooks’ and they just want to test the waters to see how well you guys don’t get along”. You shook your head.
“ oh, whatever “ you shrugged. It didn’t take long to get to the location that you would soon be filming at and you had honestly became overly excited.
“ Hi y/n I’m Jonas, we talked briefly over the phone a few times” Jonas said while shaking your hand.
“ yes I remember , hi!” You replied excitedly .
“ okay so I’m going to have you come into this room and then you and a couple of the other actors are just going to go over your lines , nothing to major” he reassured. You nodded in agreement following behind .
You walked in, almost stopping dead in your tracks as you scanned the room. There were three men, one you knew all too well.
“ this is Austin, Deion , and Drew.” Jonas spoke.
You didn’t hear much of what else Jonas was saying as you and Drew made eye contact, him seeming just as surprised as you. The tension between the two of you could be cut with a knife it was so thick, considering the last time you ever spoke to him ended horribly .
~~~
“ Drew” you said walking out from his bedroom at his moms house .
“ yeah princess “ he replied walking out of his mother’s kitchen towards you.
“ what’s this about Atlanta?” You asked holding up his laptop with a search history for apartments in Atlanta Georgia. He sighed nervously running his hands through his hair.
“ princess I was going to tell you” he replied stepping forward. You quickly stepped back scoffing while shaking your head .
“ tell me what drew?” It was pretty obvious what the answer was but you were angry and wanted to hear it from his own mouth. Drew sat for a second, knowing everything was about to fall apart once he told you his plans.
“ I’m moving to Atlanta  he responded finally, his eyes lowering to to the ground. Even though you subconsciously knew what he was going to say, once he finally did it really hit you hard.
“ drew” you responded in disappointment. “ you know I have one year left in school I can’t move to Atlanta “ you replied. It was true , Drew was a year older than you . You had gotten together your sophomore year in high school while he was a junior and been together ever since. You even went to the same college as him so you guys would be together . You both were passionate on the same career which made it easier, but the fact that when it was his turn to wait on you he wouldn’t.
“ princess I know , I figured we can do a long distance thing” your eyes widened in shock.
“ Drew you’re going to be a whole state away are you serious?!”you replied, your hands thrown in the air .
“Y/n there’s no opportunities for me here , you know I’ve always wanted to go to the big cities to pursue in acting .” He replied his voice now rising as well.
“ yeah but” you responded, your voice lowering as tears began to form in your eyes. “ you’re leaving me behind” . It hurt so bad that Drew was leaving. Of course you wanted him to prosper in life but you had been doing everything and even putting some job opportunities on hold so you wouldn’t be away from him, but the one time it was his turn, you weren’t his choice .
“ y/n-“
“ no just forget it Drew. Enjoy Atlanta” you responded before leaving towards his room to pack your stuff, soon leaving Drew’s home, never speaking to him again.
~~~
“ Rafe and Callie- go ahead with your scene” Jonas asked as he pointed down to the sheet of paper going over a short scene between the two of your characters .
“ listen Callie you and your dirty pogues need to stay off of figure 8 ok” Drew spoke with hatred, looking up at you waiting for your response .
“ you know what” you replied sitting up in your seat. “ you kooks are all the same . “ you spat out . You could feel anger building among yourself , not because of getting into character, but more because of your true anger towards Drew was beginning to flow out.
“ is that so?” He relied.
“ YES Rafe!” You interrupted. “ you only care about yourself. You’re all selfish and self centered. You always get what you want no matter who gets hurt in the way” Drew sat for a second. He could tell from the look on your face that even though those words were written for Rafe, he knew you meant it directly towards him.
“ the only dirty one here is you Rafe “ you spat out, scolding him from a cross the table . You quickly were snapped out of your trance when you heard clapping from the side of you, Jonas laughing with excitement.
“ man that’s exactly what I’m talking about sweet heart!” He said pointing at you. You chuckled before glancing at Drew , seeing him almost look, upset?
It didn’t take you long to find your way to your trailer . All of your excitement about the new gig had gone flying out the window the moment you realized one of the cast members was the same person who shattered your heart years ago.
If we’re being honest , Drew was the reason you had made it to where you were now . Not to give him full credit , but after he chose to pursue in his career and not you, you had decided for yourself you would do nothing but make it to the top and make sure that you never chose anyone over yourself again and was all you had been doing at this point.
You sat staring at yourself in your mirror before you heard a gentle knock against your trailer.
Your stomach did somersaults as you knew exactly who it was. You hesitated for a second before you finally got up from your chair, making your way to the door.
You rolled your eyes as you saw the tall brunette standing behind the door of your trailer . You turned away, letting him in as you went to your couch.
“ Well uhm” he spoke nervously , running his hands through his hair. You looked up at him in anger as you waited for him to respond.
“ I wanted to see you.” He responded making his way over to you. “ it’s been a while” he finished now standing directly above you. You scoffed crossing your arms .
“ you can say that” you mumbled.
“ look I know we left on bad terms-“
“ no Drew you left on bad terms. Let’s clear that up “ you interrupted standing up. Drew took a step back giving you space before nodding, looking down.
“ I understand why you’re upset . But I want you to know I wasn’t leaving you. I was just leaving North Carolina. There were bigger opportunities out there for me and I was going to get them started staying back at home. I just-“ you put your hand in the space between you and him.
“ Drew you left me “ you responded, your voice s bit softer than it was. “ I went to the same school as you so we could be together. I turned down so many opportunities for us. I put my life on hold-“
“ I never asked you to!” Drew responded finally snapping. You sat for a second, shocked at his words . “ and if we’re being honest I would’ve never ask you to” you shook your head in disbelief . Your anger was causing you to be blind to the truth Drew was saying. He was absolutely right but you had never sat back and thought about it.
“ you know what Drew” you spat out, tears beginning to form once again. “ it’s a good thing you’re playing the kook king- yanno since he’s so damn selfish”.
Drew was taken back from your words. You didn’t mean it at all but you were so built up with anger from why a happened years ago that the words just slipped out. Drew nodded his head slowly before making his way out of your trailer without another word said .
You gasped, realizing how harsh you were to him. your hand flew to your mouth as you let out sobs thinking about the words you had just said
You sat silently in your trailer as you thought about the conversation you had just had . You knew Drew was right. He never actually told you to do any of the things you had done, you had just done them because you believed the relationship was more important than your goals in life. And now you realize it was really you who had left Drew. You could’ve worked through long distance, and followed him to Atlanta later but instead you left your selfishness and anger get the best of you.
You realized it was really you who needed to apologize so you quickly gathered your composer before making your way outside, searching for Drew’s trailer. Once you had found it you began frantically knocking , only for no one to answer.
“ y/n?” You heard from behind you. You turned around for it to be Drew. You wanted to do nothing but run and wrap your arms around him but instead you stood still, looking at him with puffy eyes.
“I-I’m sorry “ you blurted out. Drew’s eyes widened before he grabbed your arm .
“C’mon let’s take this somewhere more private” he spoke , guiding you into his trailer before shutting g the door behind you.
“ Drew you were right . I was just so mad I couldn’t even see that it was really me being selfish. And for that I am so sorry. “ Drew sat quietly , listening to go on and on about how sorry you were even though he had forgave you before he had even dry your own trailer.
“ y/n” he responded interrupting you during your rant . “ y/n just hush for a second” he responded with a slight chuckle . You nodded, wiping your face.
“ y/n I was wrong for not communicating with you. I should’ve chased you and brought you with, and if long distance wouldn’t have worked - I should’ve stayed behind and waited until you finished school” he responded grabbing a hold of your hand. You should your head in disagreement.
“ no, because you wouldn’t be here” you responded .
“ well regardless- I have missed you so damn much” he relied before pulling you towards him, placing his lips against yours. It was weird but such a familiar feeling that you hadn’t even realized how much you had missed it as well.
After both pulled away from the kiss, Drew looked down at you, grinning.
“ what “ you scoffed with a smirk following .
“ I can’t believe we’re about to play enemies on this show “ he spoke out causing you both to laugh loudly.

It had been over a month since you and Drew reconnected. Things had definitely began to look up for the both of you. You had made many friends amongst the cast and even though you and Drew weren’t dating, feelings were definitely sparking between the two.
“ what are you up to tonight?” Drew asked as you both sat in the field , watching the cast film a scene.
“ I was honestly going to just stay in my apartment and watch tv tonight. You?” You responded, leaned back against the grass propped up on your hands.
“ oh” he replied, looking back out into the field.
“ I am making mom‘s chicken casserole so I was going to see if maybe they wanted to come over and have some?” He asked. You grinned. His mother’s chicken casserole was one of your favorite dinners she had ever made and Drew knew that. You nodded with a grin plastered across your face causing Drew too smile as well. You could almost say his cheeks were turning red.
***
You sighed heavily as you looked over your outfit in your mirror in your bathroom. You wanted to look cute, but casual so you dressed in jeans and a loose pink tank, a few pieces of jewelry and tennis shoes.
It was obvious that you were beyond nervous to see him because despite being around Drew, this was the first time you both were going to spend one on one quality time together without somebody else including themselves in. just being able to be around him though and spending time with him even if it included others, you had regrown the feelings you once had for Drew over time, but you weren’t sure at this point if the feelings were mutual. Drew had changed and matured so much over the few years you had been away , and of course you had too so things were the same , but very different.
“ hey” Drew said with a smile as he opened the door, seeing you stand on the other side.
“ hey” you grinned slyly before walking in.
“ mmmm” you moaned out, smelling the food in the oven. “ boy does that bring back memories .” Drew chuckled before scratching the back of his head nervously .
“ yeah I was thinking the same” he replied before making his way into the kitchen, opening the oven to check on it.
You looked around his apartment. It was crazy to see that his style in furniture and agriculture was still the same as it was when he was younger.
It almost made you sad that you had missed out on Drew’s growth since college. You quickly shook the sadness feeling away before making your way next to him , watching contently as he took the pan out of the oven.
“ oooohh yum” you beamed excitedly placing your hands together in front of you.
“ want to grab the plates?” He asked as he grabbed a spatula to help break the chicken up. You nodded before making your way to his cabinet, grabbing two plates out. It was quiet as you both fixed your plates, making your way to his couch. Since the producers only provided studio sized apartments for the time you were there , there wasn’t much space for tables so it was either the couch or standing.
“ Drew, I know I haven’t said this yet, but I am so proud of you” you finally spoke, breaking the silence. He looked over at you , a grin forming against his face as he chewed through his bite.
“ I’m serious “ you responded , not taking your eyes off of Drew. “ imagine if I really held you back like I tried . You wouldn’t be where you’re at now.“ you said. It was almost like you were saying it to yourself . You were finally realizing that it was you in the wrong in the long run. To even ask Drew to stay behind and not follow his dreams was just selfish .
“Y/n stop beating yourself over this okay? We’ve both made decisions in the past that we regret but look at us now” he responded. He didn’t need to go into detail but he was right . It became silent once again, just the sound of his tv going in the background ( that neither of you were actually paying attention to) .
“ this honestly tastes just like your moms” you laughed out in shock.
“ yanno why do you sound so surprised?” He jokingly argued, his head cocked towards you.
“ because Drew” you laughed out thinking of the memory you were about to speak of. “ you couldn’t even cook your hot pocket in the microwave without burning it” you both laughed as you thought about Drew’s multiple attempts to cooking that never worked out. When the laughing between you two died down, Drew stared intently into your eyes before he leaned in, placing his lips against yours. Your body immediately pushed forward towards his, pressing into the kiss.
Your eyes widened once you realized what was happening before pulling away, placing your hands over your mouth.
“ Drew” you spoke out softly. You were so unsure on whether this was really what he wanted that you didn’t want him to do something he’d regret.
“ y/n it’s okay” he reassured gently, before placing his hands against the side of your face, placing his lips against yours once again. This time you caved in, your hands finding their way to the back of his head, your fingers intwining through his hair.
You moaned slightly as his hands pressed firmly against your hips, pulling you up onto his lap. You began moving your hips against his, pressing your crotch against his for friction. Drew’s long fingers pressed against your bottom as he pushed you forward against him, deep throaty groans following behind.
“ lay down on the couch “ he demanded , his voice low and deep. You and Drew had slept together of course when you were younger , but something seemed different this time, more dominant was more like it. You bit your bottom lips as you removed yourself from Drew, quickly pushing your jeans down and off of you before laying down across the couch as Drew had instructed, your head landed on the arm rest.
Drew hovered over you, placing sloppy kisses down your neck, trailing down to your breast. You watched intensely as he pulled your breast out from above your shirt , groping them in his large hands. You hissed slightly as he pinched around your exposed nipple before placing your right nipple in his mouth.
You closed your eyes in pure bliss, your bottom lip pressed in between your teeth.
Your eyes reopened when you felt his fingers tuck under your underwear, before tugging them down , tossing them next to where your pants laid. Your eyes furrowed together . In all the years you had been together, Drew had never given you head . He was just too insecure that he wouldn’t do it good so seeing him down there , his lips trailing up your thigh to your heated core was beyond shocking.
You gasped loudly as he finally placed his mouth where you wanted him, his tongue doing one long stroke against your slit before lightly sucking on your clit.
“ Drew” you moaned out . You were tempted to ask where he learned this from but you knew that wouldn’t be an appropriate question nor would you really want to hear the answer.
At this point Drew was doing wonders on your heated area, so much that you couldn’t even hold the moans in. The way his tongue and finger both simultaneously worked against you had you coming to your orgasm quicker than anything.
“ fuck Drew!” you moaned out as you bucked your hips up against his face as you felt that familiar tingle feeling. Before you could even finish your climax, Drew’s lips clashed against yours, your own taste filling your mouth as his tongue fought for dominance over yours. Drew reached in between the two of you , , pulling his rock hard member out before before quickly sliding into your already soaking wet core.
Your arms looped under his as your hands landed on his back, your nails immediately began to dig as his hips moved at a fast pace against yours . Your body rocked against his couch as he pounded in you over and over, his member filling you more than you had ever remembered. He placed his lips against yours again as you let uncontrollable moans.
Drew placed one hand against the arm of the couch, his bicep flexing over your head as he continued to grind himself into you at continuous beat.
“ god I’m getting close” he groaned out , his words barely audible as he became out of breath from moving so fast .
You quickly wrapped your legs around him, causing him to go in even deeper than before . He threw his head back in pleasure , the veins in his neck popping out as his thrusts became sloppy. You pressed your lips deep against his as you felt yourself cum around him as well as his movements began to slow down, eventually becoming to a haunt.
Drew sat for a second, his forehead placed against yours as he caught his breath before he sat back up off of you, helping you sit up.
It was quiet as you both cleaned yourself before you sat back down on the couch next to him, still slightly worn out.
“ damn Drew “ you laughed out, running your now tangled hair towards the back of your head . “ you fucked the shit out of me “ you stated, causing him to chuckle.
“ like I said , I really missed you over those years” he said with a cocky smirk following . You shook your head while grinning, turning your eyes away from him.
“ do you maybe want to stay the night?” He asked , this time with seriousness. You looked over at him, a smile present on your face .
“ yeah I’d like that” you responded.
Maybe what they say is true.
If it’s meant to be, it’ll find its way back. ❤️

Tumblr media
synopsis. picking favorites is impossible when you like neither of them.
warning. read at your own risk. abuse, bullying, poly relationship, yandere themes, manipulation, nonconsensual touching, noncon, degradation, smut threesome oop
disclaimer. i do not condone whatever tf i wrote in this nor does it reflect my beliefs or values or morals and such. it is all pure fiction and i also dont think jaemin or jeno would act like this in real life.
note. this was meant to be a new year's gift lmao i obviously got a lil carried away 👀 anyway a late happy new year to you all! we survived 2020, let's start living in 2021, yeah? lmao if covid lets us grr mwah!
Tumblr media
the relationship you had with the two of them was a weird one, bordering on taboo, but it wasn't as if you willfully chose to be who they wanted you to be and it took jaemin's unwanted pining and jeno's intimidating demeanor for you to fall right into their arms.
it was a joint effort on their part, you couldn't've possibly stood a chance.
"this many?" the cashier asked. "are you sure?"
stepping back and studying the whole situation, you figured you only had your addiction to caffeine and procrastination to blame. it was a chain reaction you didn't even know will lead up to your inevitable doom.
if you hadn't been slacking off during your first semester of junior year college, you wouldn't be forced to overwork yourself trying to catch up to the looming deadlines, but to be able to 'work yourself to the bone' you need your boost of energy… and that was when you met one of them.
"uhm," you scratch the back of your head sheepishly as you eye the six glass bottles of iced coffee. sure, it looks bad and you kinda appreciate the look of concern the cashier throws your way but it was none of his business.
"yes. now could you, like, you know… hurry up? i'm in a little bit of a time crunch right now."
screw it. although you hardly snap like that with other people on a daily basis, it'll be a whole different conversation if you were under a significant amount of stress and today, unfortunately, is one of those days.
now can he just fucking stop asking questions and give you your six bottles of death drink to keep your fucking brain going so you can pass an eight-page essay tomorrow? thank you very much!
the guy snickered, the beeping sound of a barcode being read sounding a thousand times more annoying than it usually sounds as he keeps his hand busy by punching your items out.
you fail to notice how he studies you through the gaps of his lashes, finding you interesting rather than threatening as you stood before him with your messy hair and oversized hoodie.
"haven't seen you around university grounds 'till today," he tries striking another conversation with you. "you new? i'm jaemin."
this was your first mistake, you shouldn't have been so… downright rude when you met him. if you were granted the miracle of meeting him a 2nd time, you would've acted more nice, throwing yourself at his feet even to blend in with the rest of his fangirls you didn't even know about at the time. you would've done anything to make sure he never gives you a second glance, to never pique his interest.
jaemin is the pep squad captain. flying over colored blue mats and doing tumblings in the air with no ounce of fear. he was the best in his team, that much was evident when your friend dragged you into watching a pep rally practice. his landings were clean, balanced, and executed to the best he can at all times.
no wonder he was popular, his talent is outstanding and his looks are a bonus. his killer combo of a smile and wink after pulling off a tough flip is enough to send them squealing in their seats.
he spotted you that day and since then, he snuck the quickest glances at the bench during practices. recognizing you as the coffee girl he met during his convenience store shift. jaemin tries not to let his disappointment show too much when he doesn't see you, but of course, a pair of cold calculating eyes could see right through him.
"i saw that," his boyfriend said, hand darting forward to hold jaemin's gym bag for him. "you kept looking at the crowd. do you want to see her that much?"
"but she reminds me so much of you, jeno!" he retorts, pouting at the slight grumpy tone the other boy used. "i can't help it. she doesn't seem to give a fuck around me so she's quite interesting. maybe she can even be a great addition to our relationship!"
"well," jeno replies after a beat of silence, plastering a small smirk on his face before slinging an arm around jaemin's shoulder.
"convince me?"
Tumblr media
you don't like jaemin's attention. not in the slightest. and it seems that was enough reason for the reign of terror his little fanclub has subjected you too.
it wasn't the petty elementary forms of bullying like pulling at your hair or calling you names. they pale in comparison to the other things they do to you—beating you up, messing with your homework, "accidentally" dumping their food trays on you.
and you weren't stupid.
you knew exactly who was behind it, knew how jaemin spectates the whole thing from afar so that he can swoop in at the end to play your knight in shining armor.
"oh, you poor thing. do you need help?"
the first time you accepted his "help" you ended up in a supply closet near the gym during your free period, cornered and weak as your cries for help drowns under the squeaking of shoes and the booming sounds of rubber balls hitting the floor.
if it weren't for jeno appearing out of thin air and prying the boy off of you, you would've been painted blue and red from the death grip he had on your wrist, neck, and waist.
you can still remember feeling the soreness of your scalp from when he pulled your hair too hard. remembered feeling his teeth gnawing at your lips as if he wanted to tear them off.
that time hadn't been the first time you saw jeno. you've shared a few classes with him and it strikes you how polar opposites they are with one another.
while jaemin likes to bask in his professor and classmates' recognition by confidently reciting his answers, jeno would rather keep to himself. liked sitting at the last row, near the window, so he'd be the first to go once the professor ends their lecture. while jaemin loved the attention of his fangirls, jeno preferred solitude. while jaemin is impulsive and wild, jeno liked to think things through.
it was within these reasons that you decided to do what you did. but your judgement of character has never been more wrong.
you approached jeno one day in the library, tried to make yourself appear as stoic and confident as possible. but your constant slouching and averting eyes was a dead giveaway.
you came to talk to him about what jaemin has been doing, hoping there's one person left in this entire school that isn't under the cheer captain's trance. the one reasonable person that has already saved you once and (hopefully) is willing enough to save you again. the only one that probably has a certain level of control over jaemin, if the supply closet incident is anything to go by.
but you've overestimated lee jeno.
"you should've just given jaemin what he wanted."
"but—but aren't you two lovers? isn't it bothering you?"
you try baiting him, only for an uncomfortable shiver to start crawling down your spine when he chuckled humorlessly, pushing his school materials to the side while pinning you with an unreadable stare.
how can a person make someone feel so small just by a gaze alone? it was nothing like you've felt with jaemin. this is way worse.
"the only thing that's bothering me is why you're not ours yet."
you feel cold fingers creeping their way under your shirt, going higher and higher until it brushes against your bra. and when your eyes meet, the look on his face was unmistakable—what are you going to do about it, huh?
you stood up in lightning speed, the chair you've been sitting on scraping loudly against the floor.
you've never ran out as fast as you did.
and jeno swears it'll be the last.
Tumblr media
you tried everything in your power to ignore them for the next following weeks but it soon became useless when the two boys took it upon themselves to give you your space.
although judging by the pinpricks you feel on your back, and the constant weight of a stare you feel on your shoulders, you knew they weren't done with you yet. far from it. and for some reason, you just knew they wanted to lull you into a false sense of security first before striking again.
and while they continued to ogle at you from afar like a hawk circling its prey in a desert, you took it upon yourself to return the favor. not because you were the slightest bit interested in those creeps but maybe, just maybe, if you look hard enough you'll find a way out, a weakness.
but what you realized made your insides churn in great discomfort—although it may seem that jeno holds the reins in the relationship since his reserved nature fits the role, it's actually the other way around.
jaemin might appear too self-centered, too focused on himself to give a fuck about his surroundings but in actuality, he has quite a knack for reading people. even more so than jeno. and it was scary how he used it to his advantage, and paired up with his devoted fangirls? it was hell on earth.
you found it alarming how the two seem to magically appear wherever you are.
although you weren't in the least bit surprised. for some reason, you can't take your eyes away when jaemin's devotees flock around him (and jeno) in a circle.
it almost reminds you of a shoal of piranhas, waiting for their meal to drop into the water before ripping it to shreds with their teeth. only their "meal" isn't actual flesh but the carefully crafted words jaemin says that drive them into a sick frenzy.
one that has them doing everything in their power to satisfy him like the loyal dogs they are.
so this was how he got them to bully you?
"oh, that? don't worry! yangyang just ran into me during cheer rehearsal. no biggie. my cheek stung a little bit, though…" is what he said but really he's telling them "scruff him up a bit for me, why don't ya?"
"of course, i can't be the best all the time. haechan is just too good, maybe even better than me…" is what he said but really he's telling them "can you remind him where his place should be?"
all the while jeno did nothing to hold him back.
no matter how wrong jaemin is, how much of an asshole he is, jeno will stick by his side through and through. so as much as jaemin is a puppeteer that gets a kick for controlling people, jeno is as much at fault for looking the other way.
because in jeno's perspective, why the fuck would he do shit when he can just get off from the entertainment that comes with jaemin's sweet little mind games?
Tumblr media
we lost :(
you had been busy sorting through paperwork for one of your professors in the faculty when your friend texted you the results of the intercollegiate cheer dance competition. a frown paints your face, heart feeling heavy at the bad news.
in all honesty, you still supported the pep squad—you just hated the captain and his boyfriend. they've been practicing non-stop for this and prior to the weeks of the competition, jeno looked a lot more tense and jaemin less smiley than usual. you swore you even saw the latter snap at one of his fangirls.
not to mention, they paid less attention to you, too, and it was the best three weeks of your life.
tension starts rising in your shoulders, fingers absentmindedly running through the edge of the papers you had been sorting until you became immersed with your thoughts.
jaemin must be in the worst mood yet.
and jeno too, probably. if anything, that guy gets triggered the most when something bad happens to jaemin or when he catches snippets of people talking shit about his oh so "perfect" boyfriend.
jeno is a lot scarier when jaemin is in one of his mood swings, you noticed. he steps up in the relationship to offer comfort to the other boy and for outsiders? it isn't a great experience to go through—being on the receiving end of jeno's ice cold stare is a position you don't want to find yourself in after that time in the library.
he is still as much a threat to your peaceful life like his lover.
you snap out of it when the blinding headlights of a vehicle seep through the closed blinds. you hear the gentle hum of an engine switching off as the headlights vanished as quick as they had appeared. that must be the cheer squad's bus.
as you look around the empty faculty room, something in your gut tells you to ditch file sorting duty for professor kim tonight and fucking get the hell out of campus grounds as quick as you can.
after haphazardly throwing the unsorted papers back into the cabinet, you groan aloud when the keys to the office drop out of your skirt’s pocket.
the indoor gym where the cheering squad practices is right across the hallway. you sure as hell don't want to bump into jaemin. or jeno, too, if he had decided to ride along the cheer squad's bus on the way home.
you kept looking for the keys underneath the cubicles, cursing aloud when you heard the telltale squeaks of shoes rubbing against linoleum. you almost hit your head against a table when you quickly got back up your feet, darting forward to shut the lights for the faculty room.
they can't know you're here. alone. and if it meant sitting in the dark for a few hours 'till they leave, meant going back home a little later than usual is what you have to do then so be it.
you try not to react so violently when the door you're leaning on jolts when someone from outside slams their back against it.
"it's not like we didn't do our best, right guys? i don't have regrets. it might sound fucking cheesy and although i'm sad myself, atleast we did what we can."
it's jaemin. his voice clear as day.
you try peaking, craning your neck up from your place on the floor. only to see the back of his head leaning against the glass section of the door. someone else joins in on the conversation, followed by coach park himself, and you slowly tune out whatever they're saying as you stealthily start scanning the faculty room.
you curse under your breath. is there no other exit other than this door? jesus christ! even classrooms in this university had two doors—
"what are you doing here?"
the switch flickers on, basking the once dark room with light. only when you hear an echo of your name being called, did you snap out of it and quickly picked yourself up from the floor.
"i said, what are you doing here?"
their coach asks, drilling the question as he looks at you skeptically with his arms crossed. you try not to look at the people behind him.
particularly, not at his cheer captain standing on his right.
particularly, not at jeno, who stands out like a sore thumb with his blue hair, a protective arm snaked around jaemin’s shoulders.
this isn't your lucky day, too, you guess.
"i was…" you cursed yourself for stuttering. "i was, uhm, i was file sorting for prof—professor kim, sir."
coach park looked like he didn't believe you as he narrowed his eyes in scrutiny. your nerves are going haywire and you can feel the sharp pins of their stare with how close they are.
you kept juggling your weight with the balls of your feet, hands fisting and unfisting behind your back. you want to leave. you have to leave.
"file sorting… in the dark?" he asked incredulously.
fuck this.
"uhm, you can ask professor kim himself tomorrow, coach. for now, uh, i'll be going now. i'm sorry you guys lost…"
originally, the exit is on the right side, at the end of the hallway. but no, you are not going to pass by those two while on your way out so you ducked behind a random student standing on the coach's left instead and practically ran away from the scene.
everyone had been too busy. too busy looking at your retreating form to even notice jaemin and jeno exchanging glances, too busy to notice the latter untangling himself from their captain to slip away unnoticed, his hurried steps filled with a burning purpose.
Tumblr media
you didn't know why you ran, but you did. your shoes practically booming against the floor as you sped away through darkened hallways. you're sweating profusely, heart hammering in your chest. you can worry about professor kim tomorrow but right now you just had to—
"why are you in such a rush, pet?"
crashing into jeno felt like crashing into a wall. if it hadn't been for his arm quickly wrapping around your waist, then you would've landed on your butt before him.
with the small distance between the two of you, jeno could see as clear as day through your eyes.
jaemin was right.
it was addicting to stare into them.
especially when he can see every single one of your thoughts flying through your pretty little head. but hey, it wasn't their fault you were so easy to read.
jeno barely conceals the wicked smirk on his lips when your hands come up to his chest, trying to push him away but to no avail.
he can see your eyes shifting from shock, to confusion, until it finally settles on fear—to which it's slowly becoming a favorite emotion of his to see on your face.
"you know, jaemin is in a really shitty mood right now. and we were wondering, maybe you can cheer us up?"
no. this can't be happening.
"jeno, please." your dilated eyes and disheveled hair made his blood run south. "let me go. you don't want me. you don't need a third party in your relationship."
you yelp when he lets you go, literally shoving you against a wall—which you found out is actually a door, as it swings open as soon as your body crashes against it.
with jeno looming unforgivingly before you in his full height, the tears stung extra hard but you won't let them fall.
if he wanted to bask in the image of your weakness then it'll be something you'll deprive from him for as long as you can.
"i don't need a stupid bitch like you to tell me what i feel." he scoffs. "don't fucking kid yourself, you little whore—i don't want you. i'm not jaemin."
the echo of the classroom door shutting closed surged through you like a wake up call.
this is really happening.
you've always led a decent life, had done nothing too questionable and you've always thought maybe life will spare you if you lived quietly enough. but the feel of jeno's freezing hands crawling against your skin felt like life itself had spat at you in the eye and left you to rot in a ditch.
"i've always liked how you wore skirts," he comments. playing with the ruffled hem of the soft fabric as he purposely grazed his knuckles against your supple thighs. "gives me easy access, don't you agree?"
you scream when he flips your skirt up to reveal the innocent pink of your cotton panties. it was as if a switch had flipped inside of you and the will to fight started coursing through your veins.
"stop! jeno! i don't want this!"
his brows furrow, grunting as he struggles to push the waistline of your skirt up higher with how much you're thrashing underneath him. you buck your hips, tried curling in on yourself, anything to prolong what he wants to do to you.
with your legs trapped underneath his, you blindly reach forward, relying on your upper body instead to push and scratch whatever your palms and nails reached.
you continue screaming like a banshee until he shoved two fingers into your wet cavern.
"stop fighting me," he sounded strained, as if he's holding himself back. you feel him fisting the fabric of your skirt and you fear he's simply going to rip it apart.
you tried responding to him, only the sound had been muffled, gurgled by the flat of his fingers pushing down against your tongue mercilessly. when you reach forward to push him away, your hands land on the apple of his cheeks, nails digging through skin.
until it slips and—
you lie rigid when red scratch marks in the size of your fingernails slowly appear on jeno's skin, his head turned to the side as he paused. your actions slowly start sinking in to him as he shuts his eyes and bit his lip 'till it looked like it was about to bleed.
oh no.
"jeno—"
the slap he planted on your cheek left your ears ringing. all those hard earned muscles of his put to good use—if the tears hadn't fallen for the last few minutes, then it definitely started falling now.
the hit had been so strong, a few of your hair flew astray, the buzzing feeling of your skin tempting you to reach a hand up to soothe your abused cheek.
until jeno let out a low growl and your hand immediately drops limp against your body, afraid of whatever else he can do to you other than a slap.
"that's more like it," he whispers under his breath. you let out the tiniest of whimpers when his hand darts forward to fist your hair. "do you know what happens to bad girls? they fucking get busted up. do you understand me?"
his patience is nonexistent.
jeno slams your head against the floor when you don't answer because you thought his question had been rhetorical. it felt like your skull had been split in two as you wail in pain.
"are you fucking deaf—i asked you a fucking question!"
the hand that cups your jaw is painful as he squeezed your cheek with his blunt nails. your hand shoots up to wrap around his wrist, silently pleading for him to let up as you sobbed out loud. you started nodding as best as you can despite his firm grip on your face.
your reply was nothing short of pathetic. with lips forcefully pursed and the steady stream of your tears and snot rolling down your face, your response is gargled and hardly incoherent and jeno seemed to thoroughly enjoy your anguish if the condescending curl on his lips is anything to go by.
"look at you," he whispers, his face coming close to yours as he holds you down. there was something in the way jeno stared so intently that it made your skin crawl.
"i think you're prettiest when ruined like this."
with his nose touching yours, he felt too close, bordering on intimate as you felt his hand creep back up your thighs, trailing up with feather-like touches that made goosebumps appear on your skin.
you tried wiggling your legs underneath him but one sharp look from jeno is enough to make you stop.
the hand holding your face moves. coming down from gripping your face to encircling his hand around your neck.
"do you like it when i touch you? freaky bitch."
his hands trail further up, up, up until you felt him slotting a finger underneath your panties.
jeno didn't like how frozen you were underneath him as he pulls at the hem before letting go. the elastic snapping back against your skin.
the action evokes a strong feeling through the young male, promising to have you writhing and screaming and begging because by the end of all this, you'll be so needy and frustrated that you will have no choice but to give in to what your body wanted.
"jeno, didn't i tell you to play nice?"
someone stands by the door, the minimal light from the hallway creating a silhouette with his form but you knew who he was. that deep voice, with the same annoying flippant tone, is a dead giveaway.
you didn't know why you even hoped in the beginning. as if there'll be someone who can save you from these two.
you thought the flash of hurt in your eyes was quick to disappear but jeno noticed it quicker.
in a span of seconds, he pulled you up from your position from the ground and tugged you towards his lap. you haven't even gotten the time to settle on your new position when he already smashed his lips against yours.
it was messy. too much saliva. too much teeth. no tenderness to it at all.
the fabric of his jeans felt rough, not to mention the ice cold belt buckle made you severely uncomfortable as it seeps through the thin fabric of your skirt.
when you attempt to hover over his lap, jeno grunts as he snakes an arm around your waist, pulling you back down without your lips breaking away from each other. you didn't know why he let out a whine, but you understood the moment you fully sat down on his lap and you felt a tent on his jeans hitting your clothed entrance perfectly.
in a normal circumstance, you would've found everything hot and might've actually gotten off from it but not when it's him who’s doing this to you and you didn’t consent to any of this.
you start squirming again. palms lying flat against jeno's chest as you attempt to push him away and jaemin sees this as the opportune moment to slot himself behind you, caging you in between them.
“i want my turn,” he hisses and without an ounce of hesitation, jeno stops to do what he's told.
jaemin doesn't waste any second to grab your face, awkwardly craning your neck up to meet his lips in the same feverish kiss.
while jeno had been all teeth and aggression, practically forcing you to open your mouth and kiss him back, jaemin on the other hand is more soft, more romantic, you daresay. he seemed to like taking his sweet time by clutching your face, kissing you like he actually meant it.
he pulls away slightly, resting his forehead against yours as he murmurs something incoherent under his breath and then he's kissing you again.
you think you heard something along the lines of, "finally."
you've been too distracted by jaemin to notice jeno's nimble fingers quickly fumbling with the buttons of your blouse. it was only when you feel the sensation of his tongue laving against the swell of your breast did you turn away from jaemin, jerking backward in surprise.
"no—!"
your scream is cut off by a hand cupping your mouth. jaemin pulls your back towards his chest, molding your body against his as jeno licked and suckled all he wanted, thankful to have the other boy there to not worry about restraining you and keeping you quiet while he has his fun.
"ah, ah, ah," jaemin teases, going hard over the pleading and teary look you sent his way. it looked pathetic, he wasn't going to lie, but it doesn't mean he didn't love it. "just keep still and appreciate jeno's efforts to take care of you, alright baby?"
you don't like how he talked as if this was all a mutual thing, how he talked slowly like you were some toddler who didn't understand anything.
it's cruel how jaemin giggled and basked in your vulnerable state as he kept his eyes pinned on you while undoing the zipper of your skirt. your muffled cries of his name only serving to egg him on.
the way he stared was similar to jeno, too intently and intrusive, like he wants to burn your image of despair in the back of his head.
you whined involuntarily when jeno got bored of all the licking and thus decided to start biting and nipping at your chest instead. he was hypnotised by how responsive you were, how every little bite and nibble made you shudder.
it was a shame that jaemin had to cover your mouth. he didn't get to hear your pretty mewls but it wasn't as if he'd let the night end without hearing them loud and clear.
jaemin is fast in undressing you, feeling slightly betrayed by how quick your skirt and blouse fell under his hands.
you know what he wants, what he's going to do, and the tears fall harder when you can't dodge away from him. forced to endure and accept whatever they give you.
"you act like you don't like it but look how fucking wet you are," you bit your lip hard when jaemin starts circling the pads of his fingers against your clit, fascinated by how more juices streamed down your thighs.
"jeno, do you see this? fuck."
you can only blink in defeat, staring off to the side as you force down any noise bubbling up your throat, forcing yourself to think of anything else other than what's happening right now.
you try not to think about how they managed to tear all of your clothes off while they're left completely dressed. tried not to think about the fingers lazily drawing up and down your slit to collect your essence.
if they're doing this as a way to further humiliate you, it's working.
"slut," jeno mocked, a wicked curl on his lips when he wraps his fingers around your throat. the moment he dives down to claim your lips again is the same time jaemin pushes two fingers inside you.
"look at how wet you are because of me," jaemin whispers hot against your ear and you feel a sick churn in your stomach when you feel his smile against your skin.
he purposely drives his fingers in and out quicker, settjng a brutal pace, wanting you to hear the lewd squelching sounds. "hear that? do you hear that, darling? that's because of me—"
"don't go talking big now, jaem," jeno retorts, pulling away from your lips to start nibbling on the back of your ear. "i was here first. did you see how she fucking reacted when i sucked on her tits?"
you're quick to catch how jeno particularly loved degrading you. but how he talks about you as if you're literally not in front of him naked made you hit a new all-time low.
you felt… filthy.
his hands find purchase on your butt—only because jaemin has already claimed the front. for now.
you close your eyes tight when he painfully squeezes the flesh of your ass. you swear, his blunt nails will paint your skin black and blue.
"i'm the favorite!"
"i'm the favorite!"
as someone who's part of a varsity team, you already knew a competitive nature runs through jaemin's veins. but never had you thought jeno would share the same sentiment. once again they prove that they're cut from the same cloth.
all of a sudden it wasn't all about claiming you as theirs anymore rather it was all about who can make you moan the loudest, who can make you cum the most, who can make you feel the dirtiest you can be.
you're absolutely terrified for the hours to come.
thankfully, they have yet to ask for your verbal opinion or validation. they let your body do all the talking—every repressed shudder and sharp gasp is enough.
but it's game over once they pop the million dollar question.
"who do you like best?"
you don't want to find out the consequences if you actually answered their question because you didn't know what could be worse.
jaemin's manipulation or jeno's aggression?
but it was all normal. trial and error is inevitable in order to build and mold you into the ideal lover for the both of them.
because adding someone new to the mix has never been easy—after all, three's a crowd.

I'll Make It Okay for You - Part 1
Pairing: Harvey Specter x Reader
Word count: 3,666
Warnings: Discussion, yelling, some angst, mentions of drugs, and drug abuse.
Summary: What happens when (y/n) (y/l/n), Harvey’s secret crush and a junior partner at his firm, openly defies him in front of everyone?
You can find Part 2 here.
Disclaimer: I don’t own the show Suits, or its characters, also not associated with it in any way or know anyone involved with it.
A/N: So, this is my first Harvey Specter fic and I’m obviously quite unsure about it, lol. This might’ve ended up like one big mess, cause I tried to combine a bunch of Harveys I wanted to see. The perfect recipe for disaster, right? Anyways, I hope it doesn’t suck too bad and, please, feel free to give me feedback, cause I’m also here to learn!!
(y/n) = (your name) (y/l/n) = (your last name) (y/n/n) = (your nickname)

You’d barely stepped out of the elevator when you were met by your secretary that morning. That couldn’t mean anything good.
“Morning, (y/n/n). You’ve got an emergency meeting with Jessica today. Gonna give you the schedule on the way there.” Lucy stated, leading you on the opposite way to Jessica’s office.
“Oh, I got the memo; company’s under attack again. She wants me on the frontlines this time. Louis is probably running around saying ‘We’re at war, people, war!!!’, or something like that. But why aren’t we headed towards the boss’ office?”
“Apparently, uh, she wants y’all to convey at Harvey’s office.” She said hesitantly, as if afraid of your reaction.
“Are you kidding me? It’s the first hour of the morning and she wants me to go see that smug face of his?” You pouted childishly.
“Smug and hot, you mean.” Lucy corrected you, getting an outraged look from you in response, as she usually would by saying anything positive about Specter.
“Shush,” You said, motioning for her to stop talking, “ one shall not praise Harvey Annoying Specter around me.” You stated full of obstination, but the younger woman just laughed you off and said:
“Well, here we are. I guess I’ll just have to send you an e-mail with your schedule, since, once again, we spent our schedule minutes of the day talking about “the enemy”.” She mocked with gestures and everything this time. That Lucy really was a piece of work, she timed the whole thing perfectly, in a way that you couldn’t even repudiate her insinuations because you were already standing in front of Specter’s office door.
Not long after you had entered and Jessica had officially started the strategy-meeting, though, all eyes in the room turned to you, as your phone started ringing in your back pocket. "Shit! I'm- I'm so sorry, guys, I guess I-"
"Can you please take your job seriously for once in your life, (y/l/n)?" You heard Harvey Pain-In-The-Ass Specter rudely remark, as you tried to swallow your embarrassment.
“Well, like I was trying to say, I’m sorry. Gonna turn it off right now, won’t happen again.” You said, directing your apologetic look to Jessica.
“You should just go ahead and answer it, could be something important.” She calmly told you.
“Especially now that you’ve already interrupted our work.” Specter chipped in again, which just gave you more fuel to answer the goddamn phone.
“Hello, yeah this is her.” You confirmed to the man on the phone, while taking a few steps towards the corner of the room. “What??? Are you sure? Oh my God! O- okay, just tell me which one and I’ll be there as soon as possible! Right, thank you.” Everyone’s eyes were on you, trying to understand what made you look so distressed. Except his, of course.
“Wait a second. Are you leaving right now?” He asked with a mix of annoyance and irritation in his voice.
“Yes, I am. I’m sorry, Jessica, but this is a family emergency. I have to go.”
“Well, I just hope you know that this doesn’t look good for you, (y/n).” She said, voice inexpressive.
“I do and, honestly? I couldn’t care less about that right now.” You firmly told her, while hoping your career wasn’t over by the next morning.
“I hope everything goes well for you and your family, (y/n). If you need anything, and I mean anything, just let me know.” Louis told you with that childish smile of his. Jesus, even in a moment like this, he tried to flirt with you.
“Thank you, Louis. That’s very kind.” You faked a tiny smile.
“Unbelievable.”
“What?” You asked, turning back to face Harvey.
“Your firm is under attack and you’re leaving because of some stupid family crap?” Was he even serious?
“Precisely. And I don’t really care what your thoughts are on it. Our priorities are clearly very different.” Who the hell did he think he was to say anything about your family’s issues?
“Well, that shouldn’t matter because, the minute you walk in here, through those elevators out there, you’re supposed to leave all things personal behind.”
“Oh, right. I’m so sorry that I’m not some heartless lawyer like you, who’s just in it for the petty fights in the name of money-making.” Shit. You needed to get the hell out of there before you said something else to make Specter wanna kick you out himself. So you did. Stormed out like there was no tomorrow, leaving nothing but the very shocked Donna, Jessica, Louis, Mike, and Rachel behind. Oh, yeah, and a very pissed-off Harvey Specter.
Okay, maybe you were a little too harsh, but given the place you needed to go, to do what you needed to do, you didn't care about Harvey, your job, or anything else.
---
It was much later on that same day, around dinner time, that you heard a soft knock on your door. But how could someone be at your door, if the doorman downstairs hadn't announced any visitors? Were you dreaming? Well, the day had been so tiring that that wasn't exactly impossible… Nonetheless, you made your way to the door, whilst holding your very needy three-year-old nephew in your arms. Not that you could blame Henry after the day he’d had.
Since you weren’t expecting anyone, it was reasonable to believe that, whoever it was, was going to be a surprise. But not in a million years would have you ever guessed that Harvey Specter was the one knocking at your door. Especially considering what had happened at the firm earlier. How did he even know your address?
“Hi, (y/l/n). I didn’t know you had a kid.” He stated with a bit of surprise of his own, pointing to the little boy you were carrying.
“No, uh, I don’t have any.” You managed to say, trying to control your shocked expression. “This is my nephew.” You clarified again, a little more at ease this time.
“My name’s Henry. What’s yours?” You heard your nephew ask with his cute child-voice.
“Harvey. It’s, uh, it’s very nice to meet you, Henry.” Harvey told the boy, holding out his hand for him to shake, as a sweet smile came to his lips.
“Is he your friend, auntie (y/n/n)?” Henry asked you hesitantly, before making a move. The Don’t Talk to Strangers Rule must’ve kicked in his mind.
Before answering him, you hesitated a little bit yourself, though. Was Harvey your friend? Obviously not, but if he came to your apartment in the middle of the night like this, it was probably because of something important. Work-related, of course. Which meant you’d have to let him in, so you settled for what would be the easiest classification for a three-year-old.
“Yeah, bud, he is my friend from work.” Hearing that, something in Specter’s eyes changed, you didn’t really know what, though.
“Well, then, can he come play with us?” He gave you such a cute look, that you almost said yes right on cue. But you obviously couldn’t.
“You’d have to ask him, but I’m sure he has a lot of other, more important, things to do now.” You tried to explain to the little boy, giving Harvey a look. But you didn’t get too far, as the lawyer quickly said:
“Of course I wanna go play with you! That is if your auntie’s okay with that…” Now he was mocking you, that was the only explanation.
“Can we play with him, then, auntie (y/n/n)? Please, please, please?” God, what horrible thing could’ve you possibly done to deserve this particular punishment?
“Um, I guess... If he really has nothing better to do-” Harvey didn’t even let you finish your sentence.
“I really don’t.” He said, shooting you and Henry a bright smile that you’d never seen before.
“Okay, then, come in. Please disregard the mess, I got this stuff to make dinner, but someone just won’t detach, right, mister?” You asked your nephew with fake annoyance in your voice, as you tickled his sides a little bit. He just laughed at you. Though what really caught your attention was the fact that Harvey, too, was chuckling lightly at the scene, as he started picking up your groceries’ bags from the floor. “What are you doing?”
“Helping you, what else?” You gave him a weird look because, well, it was a weird situation. Maybe he noticed your discomfort because he added: “You look tired, so I’ll help you by making dinner and putting the rest of these away.”
“You’re kidding, right?” There was no way in hell that the All-Mighty Harvey Specter was gonna get domestic for you, of all people. Since he didn’t bother to answer, you went on: “First of all, what was it that you really came here to do, hum? And, second, I don’t need your help with anything.” Normally you tried to be kind to everyone, but, then again, Specter wasn’t exactly your normal kind of guy.
“Well, first of all,” he started in a tone of mockery, “that was rude! Look at the example you’re setting for little Henry!” Oh God, as much as you hated to admit it, he was kinda right, because you had completely forgotten about the little boy still cradled in your arms. “Second, we can talk about the reason why I came here later,” after your nephew’s asleep, was implicit in his speech, “third, it looks like you do need some help. And, for your luck, I happen to be a very good cook when I want to.”
“But-” You could barely begin your sentence, as Harvey sharply cut you off:
“You see, buddy,” he started, motioning to Henry this time, “the quicker we get your auntie on board with the game plan, the quicker we’ll get to eat and go play together!” Son of a bitch! Using a child to get to you…
“Can we please, auntie? Please?” How could you not crack after that pleading?
“Fine, but I swear I’ll make you pay if we wake up with food poisoning tomorrow, Specter.” You told him playfully, trying to lighten the mood after all of your bluntness.
“Oh, trust me, (y/l/n), you won’t. This will be the best meal you and the young man here will ever have in your entire lives.” He said cockily, but without the usual arrogance level, if that even makes sense.
A few hours and a really great dinner later, you and Henry couldn’t help but snicker shamelessly at Harvey’s ridiculous faces, as the three of you played a game on your living room’s floor. Trying to catch your breath from your giggles, you glanced up at the clock and realized that it was way too late for your nephew to be out of bed like that. So you broke up the game, announcing:
“It’s bedtime for you, Mr. Henry.” You watched the faces of the pair turn into ones of pure disappointment, as they prepared to pout.
“Just a little longer, auntie (y/n/n)! please!” The little boy started.
“Yeah, auntie, just a little longer! Please?” This time it was the grown man, one of the toughest Wall Street lawyers.
“As moved as I am by your synchrony, guys, the answer is a big no. C’mon, bud, let’s go brush your teeth. And then straight to bed. So say bye to Harvey, and thank him for being so nice to us tonight.” He looked between you and Specter as if still hoping for a hail Mary of some sort.
“Bye, Harvey.” He sounded so sad, but then he smiled brightly again, as he repeated what you’d told him to say word by word: “And thank you for being so nice to us tonight.” Hearing that, both you and Harvey chuckled lightly at the young boy, who quickly added: “Will you come see us tomorrow too?”
“Uh, we’ll, uh, we’ll see about that, okay, little man?” He tried to let Henry down slowly but, watching the boy’s expression become a sad one instantly, he added: “It’s just because both your auntie and I have a lot of work ahead of us tomorrow, but I’ll do my best, okay?” That was definitely a side of Harvey you’d never seen before, he had even bent down to be on your nephew’s level.
“Okay.” Henry said quietly, seeming to be a little happier, too.
“Okay, then let’s just go upstairs already.” You took the boy’s hand to guide him towards the spare bedroom’s bathroom, all the while shooting Specter a look that told him to wait for you a little longer.
“I’ll wait for you down here.” He said, proving he understood what your eyes tried to transmit.
So you headed upstairs with your nephew and, after a good fifteen minutes of brushing Henry’s teeth, helping him into his PJs, and tucking him in, you finally managed to come back to the living room, where you found Harvey looking through some of your photos displayed on the sideboard. For a minute or two, you just watched him. It wasn’t that you liked what you saw or anything. It wasn’t. It was more like postponing the weird conversation you two were bound to have, because, after all that had happened in those few hours, the atmosphere was, at very least, a strange one. But, almost as if he’d felt your gaze on his back, the lawyer in him was switched on, and he interrupted your thoughts by saying:
“Ah, you’re back. Good, because we need to talk.” You just motioned for him to follow you into your home office. But both you and Harvey looked so informal to be in that kind of environment, that you just indicated the small couch on the wall opposite to your desk for you to take your seats in.
“So, uh, before you even say anything, I wanna thank you for being so kind tonight,” a small smile came to your lips, as you remembered, not only the evening but how your nephew had used almost those exact same words, already imitating you, a little earlier. Specter smiled too, you noticed. “and I also wanna apologize. If you came here to talk to me… I must’ve made you waste a lot of time, huh?” You tried with a half-smile this time, as embarrassment started taking over you.
“What? No, of course not! I'm pretty sure that I told you I didn't have anything better to do, didn't I?" He calmly asked with a smile.
"Yeah, but I'm not buying it. You're Harvey Specter, isn't that what you're always saying? And Harvey Specter always has something better to do, isn't that right?" You shot back in a mockery tone, regaining your confidence.
"Well, maybe. But, not today. So don't apologize, and don't thank me. I'm the one who should be thanking you, I had a really good time tonight." Okay, now you were shocked. He had a good time?
"Uh, okay, um, so... What was so urgent that you had to come here in the middle of the night?" You nervously ranted, while tugging your hair behind your ears. He just stared at you, so much so that you almost repeated your question.
"Um, yeah, about this morning… That's why I came here…" You were already guessing that that would come up eventually, but it was the topic of your conversation? "I know that you and I always had our differences, and maybe even some rivalry-"
"Some rivalry? Dude, I'm just a junior partner, and ever since I started on that firm you've been persecuting me-"
"I wouldn't say persecuting…"
"Oh, you wouldn't?"
"Not since you made junior partner anyways. Now it's just a healthy rivalry between work friends…" He tried to use what you’d told your nephew earlier.
"Oh, so you do admit you were persecuting me when I was an associate, huh?"
"Shit." He muttered quietly, as you watched him with a victory smile on your lips. "You know what? Hell yeah, I did persecute you when you were an associate." Hearing that blunt admission of guilt, you just couldn't find anything to say. “You wanna know why? I did that because, from the first time I saw you doing your job, I saw this very thing that I see now: you kicking ass, you think I wanted to admit this to you? I’ll answer it myself: no, I didn’t. The only reason why it happened is that you led me to it.” He blurted out, completely knocking you off your socks.
“So, um, you treated, you treat me like shit because, um, because I’m good?” You asked, still unsure of what to think about his confession.
“Well, that was part of it, sure. So, you see, I could understand it when you weren’t particularly thrilled at the perspective of working with me. But, this morning, you said that I’m a heartless guy who only cares about money… Is that really what you think of me?” This time he sounded genuinely sad? When Harvey said that he’d come to your apartment to talk about that morning, you thought he was gonna reprimand the shit out of you for disrespecting him ⎯ your sort of boss, a senior partner ⎯, but, apparently, he was asking about it on a more personal level. A level you’d never really thought played a part in your relationship with him.
“Oh, Harvey…”
“Be honest, please. I don’t want your pity. You don’t even know me all that well, so don’t try to minimize anything. I can take it.”
“That’s not what I was gonna do. And, trust me, you’re probably the last person in the world I’d pity.” You told him with a sly smile. “You’re right. I don’t know you all that well. Or, at least, I didn’t this morning. But I do know that you’re not heartless. Also, I was really out of line then, I’ve seen you fighting tooth and nail for a lot more than just money in that firm. You’re loyal to your firm and friends like no one else and, tonight, I watched you sitting on the floor and playing with a little boy. And, trust me, that meant more to him than you’d ever know, especially after today… Anyways, what I’m really trying to say is that I was so damn wrong and that I’m sorry. I’d gotten some pretty nerve-racking news beforehand, not that that’s an excuse but...” You told him, meaning every word and trying hard to show how much you regretted your previous actions.
“Wait, what news?”
“Ah, it’s nothing for you to worry about, really.” You tried to brush him off.
“Oh, c’mon! You said all those nice things about me, but when it comes to your life and your problems you still don’t trust me, isn’t that right?” His tone was sharply inexpressive, but his eyes showed he was actually hurt.
“What are you talking about? Oh my God, Harvey! I’ve relied on you for a number of cases that I really cared about! I let you in on my apartment! I let you spend an entire night around my nephew! Of course, I trust you!”
“Then what the hell is the problem? You think I’m not gonna give a damn about your family issues? Is that it? Because I am literally begging you to tell me about them!”
“I don’t wanna tell you because I don’t want you, or anyone else on the firm, to think that I’m some pathetic little girl who uses her family issues as an excuse to get out of a tough fight.” You confessed in a lower tone, slightly embarrassed, just hoping he would understand and stop poking. “Things are very different when you’re a woman, you know…”
“I would never think that about you. Family is important. Especially if it’s made of people like Henry…” He said, reassuring you, even though there was a hint of sadness in his voice. “Besides, you said you trust me, so you need to trust me when I say that I wouldn’t betray you by telling people about your problems. I’m not here as your boss, (y/n). I just wanna help you.” He sounded so sincere and, if you were being honest with yourself, you kinda really needed to vent.
“Okay, um, where to start? I have two sisters: Henry’s mother, Kat, and a fifteen-year-old, Lisa. I’m the older one of all three of us. Lisa’s sick, like very sick, so my parents, who are both retired, are with her at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, to try and get her better. In the meantime, Kat was supposed to go to college, as well as care for her son, between my parents and me, she wouldn’t even need to provide for them or anything. But, a while ago, she overdosed for the first time. That’s when we found out about her addiction. We’ve already tried a million different things but nothing works. So, my parents and I threatened to make her lose her parental rights over Henry, hoping that it’d be a wake-up call for her, but it backfired. She just took the boy and disappeared, then today I get that call, from the police department, saying that she was in custody for drug distribution and endangering the well-fare of a minor. They asked me to go pick my nephew and, maybe, get Kat a lawyer.” And, just like that, you’d told Harvey Specter, of all people, everything. Tears rolling down your cheeks and him pulling you into a hug.
If anyone had told you that that was how your night was gonna go, you would have definitely laughed them out of the room. But now, just sitting there, being held and caressed by Harvey, as you let your armor down, it was finally beginning to look like things were gonna be okay.

Summary: There was something in his uncle’s voice that Junior recognized. It was the same thing hidden in his whenever he spoke of his past. There was regret, maybe even guilt. James didn’t need to say it out loud, but his nephew knew that he regretted not being there for his sister all these years.
Thirteen days in the hospital, ten of them awake, and Junior slowly but surely began to trust his uncle.
James spent the last few days telling his nephew stories of his mother. Some of them that Junior had a hard time believing because she seemed so different back then. Nothing like how he knew her his entire life.
“Okay, you’re totally lying!” Junior exclaimed, his smile wide with amusement while being seated up on his bed.
“I’m not, swear to god!” James replied quickly and put a hand to his chest. “Bree and I spent a whole night in the woods to see if we can survive it without telling our parents. She was, like, your age too. She was barely fourteen but hell, she was determined. Your mother wanted to do it by herself but there was no way in hell I was letting her do that on her own. Someone had to make sure she didn’t get eaten by wolves!”
The teenager started laughing, trying to contain his laughter the most he could without ripping open his heart. He put a hand on his chest to ease the uncomfortable tightness growing there, still giggling through his pain.
“You okay, Juni?” His uncle asked, catching onto his nephew’s wounded laughter and the way he held onto his chest.
“Y-yeah, I’m fine,” he reassured him after a few seconds, “my body’s not used to me laughing, that’s all. Actually, that just might only be my chest. I guess getting stabbed with a butcher knife can be painful in the long run.” Junior chuckled at his own joke but James didn’t. “Oh, c’mon. That was funny, James.”
The older man raised an eyebrow, most certainly not amused by the teenager. “Yeah, super funny to hear about how my fourteen year old nephew nearly died because of a serial killer.”
“But I didn’t die,” Junior pointed out with a casual shrug of his shoulders, “it’s not my fault that god and the devil didn’t want me there yet.” Yet another joke that earned another deadpanned stare. “Really? I thought that was a pretty good one…”
His uncle put his hands together and took a deep breath. “Juni…you almost died nearly two weeks ago. I think dead jokes are a little bit too soon.”
“Soooo should I wait another week?” Junior asked, fighting down the urge to start smiling teasingly.
This time, he caught a glint of humor in James’ eyes. “How about another month? Can you do that instead?” The man offered up as a playful compromise to his nephew.
The teenager snorted quietly, trying to ignore how the sound made his chest ache. “Yeah, okay, I think I can give it a month.” He said lightly and was quiet for a moment. “I just still can’t believe that my mom actually wanted to spend a night in the woods alone. Why would she even want to do that?”
“No idea,” James laughed while shaking his head, “Bree just wanted to do it. I guess it was to challenge herself to see if she could make it.”
“Did she even bring the right supplies to ‘survive a night’ in the woods?” Junior asked curiously, his head tilted to the side just a little.
His uncle made direct eye contact with his nephew. “A sleeping bag. She only brought a sleeping bag. I was the one to bring snacks, water, flashlights, jackets, and a first aid kit.”
Junior couldn’t take it anymore and started laughing, one hand on his chest and the other hanging onto the blanket draped over him. The older man began laughing as well for a few minutes, the uncle and nephew nearly out of breath.
“Yeah, she…she usually never fully thought out her last minute plans. She was always just in the moment.” James said once his laughter began to die down.
The teenager was still giggling, wincing a few times from the pain in his chest but he didn’t care. “I never would’ve thought that she’d do something like that. She seemed so…fun.”
His uncle nodded, smiling fondly of whatever memory that was spinning in his mind. “Oh yeah, she was fun. She was adventurous and carefree. She wanted to travel the world.”
Junior wanted to ask why she didn’t do that but then remembered that it most likely because she met his father. What would’ve been different if his mom never met him?
Would she have been happier?
Would she have travelled?
Would she have kept her free and independent spirit?
He knew that he never would’ve been born, but he didn’t care. That was a sacrifice he was willing to make if it meant his mom’s happiness.
Besides, Junior wasn’t afraid of death. Even now, he still craved it when he was alone before he would fall asleep. He’d hope that he didn’t wake up just so he can see his mom again instead of in his nightmares.
His uncle didn’t know of his nephew’s inner desires and he planned to keep it that way.
“Did she…did she ever want kids?” The teenager asked the adult man after a moment of silence.
James smiled and nodded. “Yes, she did. Bree wanted kids ever since she was really young. She might have wanted to travel but she still wanted a family. A big one too, your mom wanted a lot of kids. I’ll be honest, I was surprised she only had you.”
Yet another thing he didn’t know. It wasn’t like Junior ever asked for siblings. He was content being an only child even though a part of him knew now that he would’ve loved to have had a younger sibling. But when he was young, he didn’t need one, because he had—
“Wait, you have a cousin, right? From your father’s side? Oh, damnit, what was his name…” James snapped his finger a few times before he suddenly remembered, “Jake! Right, his name’s Jake! You two were practically inseparable when you were kids! You’d call yourselves twins even though you were cousins.” He chuckled, reminiscing about a past that was long gone.
Junior’s smile slowly faded away, casting his eyes downward in shame. “I…yeah…ummm…I burnt that bridge a long time ago. Last time I checked, he hates me and…and I made him believe that I hated him first. So…yeah.”
He didn’t need to look at his uncle to know that he was staring at the teenager, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “Juni, what do you mean?”
Junior never talked about it. Even when his mother tried to gently pry and find out why he was suddenly so mean to his cousin, he never told her. He never told anyone the truth for over five years.
He was quiet, fidgeting with his blanket and swallowed a few times before speaking finally. “Dad started to put more pressure on me when I was almost nine, I think. I was…upset. And I just…I took it out on him. Every time. I took it out on Jake.”
He had to pause because the guilt was rising inside of him the more he talked. “I treated him like shit just for being himself.” Because I wasn’t allowed to be myself like he was. “I said terrible things to him that I-I didn’t even mean. I ruined everything. I pushed him away and made him hate me.” And that’s exactly what I deserved and more. “That’s it. End of story.”
James didn’t say anything and Junior understood why. His uncle was realizing what a piece of shit his nephew became. It was only time before he finally saw that and he wouldn’t be surprised if the man decided to leave right then and there.
“Is…is that why you haven’t asked the hospital to contact Jake? Because you think that he hates you?” His uncle asked after at least a minute of silence.
“He does hate me,” the teenager answered with certainty and finally looked back at the man, “after everything I’ve done the last few years? I know he does. He has every right to hate me. He’s better off thinking I’m dead.”
James looked at him with a hint of sympathy in his eyes. “Juni, he’s your cousin.”
“Yeah, and Logan was my father.” Junior scoffed.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
He paused, biting his tongue for a second before he could accidentally tell the truth of how his father really died. “It-it means that family isn’t always good. Even if we’re related. I was a dick to Jake, okay? For years. I’m not…I’m not the same kid you knew when I was five. He’s long gone.”
“So is this your plan ever since you woke up at the hospital? To pretend that you’re dead to everyone who knew you?” James questioned him, almost sounding bewildered.
“Yeah, pretty much.” He replied without hesitating, crossing his arms over his stomach since the center of his chest was still too sensitive.
Now his uncle looked bewildered too. “Kid, you can’t just do that. What about your friends? What will they think?”
“I don’t have friends anymore.” Junior snapped and it pained him to say it out loud. “Those were more bridges I burned before I almost died. I ruined everything with Devon, my best friend since I was almost six years old. I ruined everything with Lexy, my gi…my ex-girlfriend.”
The pain was growing in his chest and he looked down to the ground. The teenager needed to stop talking but the words were spilling out, too fast for him to control and hold back. “I’m like King Midas. Except everything I touch doesn’t turn to gold. I destroy it. I can’t have anything good without breaking it. It’s the only thing I’m good at.”
His voice had gone quiet during the last few sentences and was barely able to hear himself, but he knew James could understand him. He could feel the pity, the sadness his uncle was harboring to him and he didn’t fucking deserve that.
There were tears starting to push into Junior’s eyes but he fought them back. He’d be damned if he started actually crying like a pathetic pussy in front of the older man. He’d rather die than have that happen.
He pulled himself together and spoke again, still quiet. “I…I don’t want to be Junior anymore. I want Junior Wheeler to be dead. Bury him in the past and let everyone mourn and then forget him. Jake, Lexy, Devon…they might feel bad for what happened to me but eventually…they’ll move on. They’ll go on with their lives and be happy…without me. I know it. It’s what they deserve. To be happy. That’s all I want for them.”
The silence in the room was deafening. Why did the teenager say so much? His uncle must’ve realized how terrible Junior was, that’s why. A terrible coward. What other explanation was there?
Finally, after so long that the teenager wanted to scream to fill the void, James stood up. His nephew expected him to walk out the door but instead he put his hand on Junior’s shoulder, causing him to finally look up at him.
“I…I don’t agree with you not wanting to tell your friends,” James started and the teenager wanted to argue that they weren’t his friends anymore, but he kept his mouth shut, “but I won’t force you to tell them. If you want Junior Wheeler to be dead…then he’ll be dead.” Junior couldn’t help but to feel a rush of relief at his uncle’s words. “I just wanted to ask you one more thing. If you don’t want to be Junior…then who do you want to be?”
Junior didn’t have an answer. He sat there, racking his brain, before giving up and shrugging his shoulders. “I…I don’t know. I don’t know yet. I just…the only thing I know is that I wanna be…better. I wanna be a better person and make all the right decisions for once. I want to be anyone that isn’t the old Junior but I…I don’t know who that is quite yet.”
His uncle shot him a gentle smile, his eyes soft and reassuring. “Well, that’s something. Being better is good. It’s a really good start, Juni. You can figure the rest out over time.”
The teenager wished he could explain why that made him feel relieved. He was so used to needing to have the answers all the time that being told that he could wait was like a breath of fresh air.
But he still wasn’t filled with ease.
“Are you…mad at me? That…that I was an asshole to Jake and ruined everything between us for no reason?” Junior asked nervously, hesitation laced in his voice.
James smiled sadly and shook his head, reaching up to ruffle his nephew’s hair lightly in a way that resembled his mother’s touch so fiercely that he almost broke right then and there. “No, I’m not mad at you, kiddo. I’m not very happy, but…I’m not angry at all with you.”
The teenager scrunched his eyebrows in confusion. “Why not?”
“Because you’re a kid. A kid who screwed up and made some not good decisions. Happens to the best of us,” his uncle said with kindness in his voice, “besides, you said something else that caught my attention. You said that your father started pressuring you and that’s why you took it out on Jake. Was he…pressuring you into doing cross-country?”
“How-how did you know about that?”
“Your mother mentioned you doing cross-country in some of her letters to me, like what your father used to do,” James explained, “sent some photos also. But even though you were smiling, you never…looked happy.” His warm eyes met Junior’s again. “Did he…pressure you into doing cross-country?”
The teenager didn’t say anything, his hands curling tightly around his blanket before he finally found it in him to nod stiffly. His uncle looked like he was trying to hide anger from his eyes, but his nephew could tell that the anger wasn’t directed toward him. It was to his father.
“Do you…want to talk about it?”
“No.” Junior replied quickly, wanting this whole thing to end before he lost it.
“That’s alright, we don’t have to talk about it.” James reassured, still standing beside his nephew before talking again calmly. “But you were wrong about something. You don’t destroy everything you touch, Juni. You don’t. You might not believe that now after everything that’s happened…but I hope someday that you will.”
His uncle was right, he didn’t believe it and he was certain that he never will. How could he? Every single moment of his life proved that Junior was the curse, not his cousin. He was the problem. He ruined everything he laid his hands on. It was only a matter of time before the older man saw it too.
“Can we talk about something else please?” The teenager requested softly, just wanting this whole thing to end before he got too overwhelmed.
“Yeah, of course.” James accepted, sitting back down in his chair. They were both quiet for a minute before his uncle looked at him and cracked a small smile. “Do you wanna hear about the time your mom cut herself bangs with safety scissors when she was ten years old?”
Finally, Junior’s eyes lit up and he nodded quickly. “Absolutely.”
__________
It was the next day when Junior started to feel at ease. The whole conversation the day before had him with his guard up, feeling that he said too much and that his uncle would leave after visiting hours was over and never come back.
But James came back at the same time the next morning, already sitting in his usual chair before the teenager woke up.
It filled him with peace to know that he didn’t lose the last person he had left in his life yet.
It was also the same day that his doctor approved for Junior to be walking around on his own more rather than having help from a nurse.
The teenager had to struggle not to snicker like the troublemaker that he was at James trying to keep a straight face, as if they hadn’t been sneaking around to walk by themselves over the last few days.
And that’s what they were doing, walking around the hospital while talking. Well, his uncle was doing most of the talking. Junior preferred to just listen and chime in every now and then.
Besides, walking still wasn’t very easy for the teenager. It tired him out out quickly and it still filled him with frustration because he still felt weak to walk as slowly as he did now.
“Do you need to sit down?” James asked him when Junior gave into his exhaustion and stopped walking to lean into a wall.
He closed his eyes for a moment and shook his head. “No, I’m okay…but if my knees give out on me, you have my full permission to say ‘I told you so’ to me.” The teenager replied with a ghost of a smile on his lips, opening his eyes again.
The man snorted under his breath and rolled his eyes. “I’d rather not get to that point at all, kid. But if you’re so sure, then you can keep standing.” He told his nephew, moving to stand beside the younger boy and also leaned his back to the wall.
While his uncle’s posture was casual, the teenager was certain that he was beside him to make sure that he could catch him if he actually did collapse.
Junior smiled a little, going quiet until he spoke again. “How much older are…were you to my mom?”
“Two years,” James responded, smiling a little but his nephew could tell that the smile didn’t reach his eyes, “but I always felt so much older than her. I guess I just…felt like I had to protect her.”
There was something in his uncle’s voice that Junior recognized. It was the same thing hidden in his whenever he spoke of his past. There was regret, maybe even guilt.
James didn’t need to say it out loud, but his nephew knew that he regretted not being there for his sister all these years.
“You did protect her,” Junior said without thinking, “you know, the most you could. Before dad banned you from seeing us. And…and I’m sure mom knew that. That’s why she kept in contact with you. Mom wouldn’t have done that if she agreed with my dad.” He looked at his uncle seriously yet genuinely. “She knew, James.”
The teenager was never the best at comforting people. He never knew the right words to say but this time, he could see that his words worked. He spotted tears that shone in James’ eyes, but not of sadness. It was more of relief and comfort to know that his mom still trusted her brother even after not seeing him for almost a decade.
His uncle smiled softly at him, reaching out to ruffle Junior’s hair messily. “You’re a really wise kid, you know that?”
Junior tried to fix his hair with one hand, huffing a laugh out. “Well, I think all of my trauma matured me quite a bit.”
James gave him a deadpanned stare. “I thought we agreed no jokes about that until at least a month.”
“We agreed on no jokes about me almost dying for a month. You didn’t say anything about overall trauma in general.” The teenager shrugged his shoulders up and down, smirking teasingly. “Should’ve been more specific, I guess.”
His uncle nudged his nephew’s shoulder lightly, sending him a faux glare before chuckling. “You may be wise but you’re also a sneaky little shit, I swear.”
Junior giggled quietly. “Maybe that’s the reason you think I’m so wise. I’m actually just being sneaky and making you think that. It’s all an illusion.”
“Well, that’s certainly one way to put it.” James said with a laugh, obviously entertained by the antics of his slightly mischievous nephew.
The teenager smiled, thinking for a moment in silence before asking something that had been in his mind. “Did my mom ever say how many children she wanted to have?”
His uncle shook his head. “No, but I suspect quite a few. She loved children and I’m sure she’s always wanted more,” he paused before smiling, “Bree did tell me that if she had a boy first, she would name him Brandon.”
The name sparked recognition inside Junior and his eyes lit up. “That’s my middle name!” He said loudly, too loudly, and he quickly closed his mouth as his cheeks flushed with bashfulness.
But James seemed unfazed by the volume and just chuckled. “Yeah, at least she got to choose your middle name. It always suited you anyway.”
The teenager smiled but the name was circling his head. He had small memories, practically blips of a dream, of his mother calling him her “little Brandon” when he was a child. Eventually, the nickname transitioned into “Jun-Jun”.
While Junior adored being called “Jun-Jun” and it filled him with agony to know that no one would ever call him by that nickname ever again, there was something about Brandon that refused to leave his mind.
He wasn’t sure what was so fascinating about Brandon. Maybe it was because it was a name that his mother chose. Or maybe it was because it was similar to her name. The names only shared the first two letters, but Bree and Brandon were so damn close, making them impossible for the teenager to ignore.
Why did he want that name so badly?
Brandon, Brandon, Brandon, Brandon, Brandon, Brandon—
“Hey, you wanna go back to your room? You look tired, Juni.” His uncle told him, breaking his nephew out of his trance.
“Hm? Yeah, yeah, okay.” Junior muttered and carefully pushed himself off of the wall, starting to walk in the direction of his room with James by his side.
The teenager was quiet as they walked, his uncle talking about his words went in one ear and out the other. He couldn’t focus on anything but he didn’t know why. How could that name cause so much distraction?
And that’s when it occurred to him. How for almost two weeks, he didn’t want to be called Junior. He settled on Juni for the time being, but this name…this was the one.
“James…” Junior quietly said the man’s name, stopping just before going into his room with one hand lightly holding onto James’ sleeve, “I…ummm…I…I want…can…”
Now this was embarrassing.
Why was asking for something he wanted so fucking hard for him?
“Hey, take your time,” James told him gently and put his hand over his nephew’s with a reassuring smile, “you can tell or ask me anything, okay? Just take a deep breath, Juni.”
The teenager listened and took a deep breath, trying to calm himself so he could speak properly. The words still weren’t forming the way that he wanted but he couldn’t take it anymore. So he ripped the bandaid off.
“I…I want to be called Brandon.” The younger boy finally blurred out loud before he could back out and not say it out loud. “That’s what I want my name to be. Brandon. I don’t want to be Junior. I want to be Brandon.”
James’ smile grew and he squeezed his nephew’s hand lightly. “Okay. Then you’re Brandon from now on. Great choice, Brandon.” He said with a chuckle and the teenager’s heart nearly exploded when his uncle called him by that new name.
He couldn’t explain the feeling of being called something he always desired to be called. It didn’t make any sense but god, he felt almost…whole. Not completely, but just enough for him to no longer grimace at being a reminder of his father’s name.
Brandon. I’m Brandon now. The name my mom always wanted for me. Brandon. Junior thought to himself, unable to stop smiling as he walked into his room knowing that this was the beginning of something new.

Bullying
Natasha Romanoff x Teen!Reader
Word count: 2K
Requested by anon: Can you do an imagine where natashas daughter is being bullied and she finds out?
You have your hands shoved in your pockets, pulling your jacket down and allowing the hood to fall more into your face, blocking you from the harsh stares of your classmates. You should’ve expected your life to turn out like this. You knew what high school was like. Fitting in was the main priority and the mob of insecure students would swarm anything different.
You should’ve known that you’d be the number one target. The adopted teenager living with the most famous heroes in the world. It was dumb to think you’d be able to fly under the radar the way Peter had. The boy had comforted you those days leading up to your freshman year. Having just finished his own he told you that it would be fine. Boy was he wrong.
The freshman hall was far enough away from the sophomores that he never saw your torment, and over the last three years you learned how to make sure he never would. You wouldn’t let the boy who’d always been like an older brother to you get caught in the crossfire. He’d try to stick up for you and blow the only normal thing he had left. You’ve made it to junior year, you can make it the rest of the way.
You’re pulled out of your thoughts by a shoulder slamming into yours, sending you stumbling into the lockers.
“Watch it Annie!” A girl called over her shoulder and you frowned at the nickname. Ever since the kids found out you were adopted they started calling you Annie, after the orphan girl, and you hated it. Rather than saying anything you just quickened your pace and slipped into your first class.
“It’s fine that they call me that,” you mumble to yourself, “that way I don’t flinch at the sound of my own name being called. I’d never be able to hide that from Peter. Or Wanda. Especially not from mom.”
You try to rationalize everything as you settle into your desk, pretending not to see the kids pointing at you and laughing as you become the brunt of their joke.
xxxxx
You manage to ignore it for the most part. The words aren’t what hurt. Well they do, whoever said words will never hurt me obviously didn’t know what they were talking about. But that hurt you could cover with a fake smile and an excuse of being stressed over homework or some other thinly veiled excuse. The giant bruise forming on your forehead was harder to hide.
Some girl named Beverly decided it’d be funny to trip you at lunch, sending you head first into the table. Now you had a lovely purple mark and some swelling by your hairline. Thank god you left a beanie in your locker. It should be enough to cover the injury.
“Hey Romanoff!” The call of your name makes your head snap up in panic, you quickly pull on the hat as Peter makes his way towards you.
“Oh hey Pete, what brings you to my neck of the woods?” you ask, a genuine smile on your face for the first time today.
“I’m heading to the tower to do some work with Tony, wanna walk together?” his smile is wide as he asks, completely carefree, and you wish you could feel that way as well.
“Uh, yeah. Sounds good,” you try to sound casual. There’s no way to brush him off without being obvious. You’re waking the exact same route. Luckily the walk home is fairly uneventful. The assholes seem to be warded off by Peter. The late autumn heat has him in a tank top that shows off his arms, and while he’s not the buffest guy in the school, it’s obvious he can hold his own. If only they knew how strong he really was.
You see a few people staring, more like glaring, but you’re able to ignore them pretty easily. Soon enough the two of you are walking into the lobby of the tower incident free.
“I’m gonna head to the labs. You good from here?” Peter’s question feels heavy, almost as if he was intentionally trying to make you feel safer, but you brush the feeling off with a nod and a wave as you head to the elevator. You’re probably overthinking it. A few moments later you're in the common room and you let out a sigh of relief. Finally a safe place. No teasing here, or at least none with any malice behind it.
“Hey, y/n. How was school?” you look up to see Wanda on the couch and you immediately blush.
“Hey Wan, it was alright. How was...whatever it is you do here during the day?” you tease and she rolls her eyes, a matching blush painting her cheeks. Thank god the kids at school don’t know about this...whatever you have with Wanda. They’d tear you to shreds.
“I do online school and I work, thank you very much. I do important stuff here, ya know, like saving the world,” she’s glaring at you as she says it, but you can see something in her eyes. You can’t quite place it, friendship, something more? Whatever it is, it’s so different from the hate you see from the kids at school.
“A bit full of yourself, aren’t you? I feel like that’s all just fancy talk for free loading and laziness. You gotta get out there, get some dirt under your nails. You’re too spoiled, spending all this time in the tower,” you notice yourself leaning closer to her as you talk and your eyes involuntarily flash towards her lips as butterflies take over your stomach.
“And that uh…that fancy private school you spend your time in. That’s gotta be really...tough?” she tries to defend herself but her words come out weak as she inches ever so much closer. you ‘re about to close the gap when you hear a voice from the doorway.
“I thought I heard you come in. How was school?” The two of you spring apart at your mom’s voice.
“It was good,” you squeak out, adjusting your hat to cover your forehead.
“Yeah, learning a lot,” Wanda mumbles as your mom rolls her eyes. She’s well aware of the weird relationship you and Wanda have, and while she’d prefer you didn’t date until you’re well into your thirties she knows if you’re going to, then Wanda is a good choice.
“What’s with the beanie, love? It’s like eighty degrees out,” your mom’s questions has you panicking.
“I uh...like it. It’s cool,” you defend and Wanda rolls her eyes this time, back to her playful self from earlier.
“I’m sweating just looking at you. Let me help!” she teases and you see the red mist around her hands before you feel it.
“No!” you lunge at her, as if you’d be any match for her powers, but before you even reach her your hat is floating in the air and her eyes are wide.
“What the hell happened?” your mom’s voice is harsh and tears are already gathering in your eyes. You look frantically between your mom and Wanda, who seems to take the hint.
“I’ll give you two some space,” Wanda says before hastily leaving the room.
“Y/n, what happened?” she asks again, gentler this time but you still try to get out of it.
“It’s nothing-” the look in her eyes stops you. It’s the look she sent you when you would try to sneak candy after bedtime when you were little, but this time there’s a pain mixed in that you’re not used to seeing. “It’s just some kids at school. They like to pick on me. It’s really not that big of a deal.”
“How long has this been going on?” She looks...sad and it kind of scares you. That’s not an emotion you’re used to your mom having. Stoicness, yes especially when she’s working. Happiness, yes; more often since you came around your uncles tell you. Love, confidence, bravery, exasperation, even anger sometimes. But almost never sadness or pain and now she’s shown both of those in a matter of minutes.
“Mom,” you try again but she shakes her head, brushing the tears forming in her eyes.
“How long, love?” she asks again and you sigh.
“Since freshman year.” It’s her turn to sigh. Sitting next to you on the couch and pulling you into her side gently. It’s an odd mix of emotions, you can see on her face that she doesn’t know if she wants to cry or burn your school to the ground. You’re sure Wanda is getting a headache trying to sort through the many emotions coming from this room. You ignore that though. You leave the turmoil to everyone else for once as you finally relax, the weight of your secret finally off your shoulders.
“Friday, call Wanda and Peter in here please,” her voice is calm, and you don’t know if you should be scared.
“Mom? What are you-”
“I just want to talk to them,” she cuts you off, and you don’t have time to argue before the two are entering the room.
“Hey Miss Romanoff, Friday said you wanted to-Oh my god! What happened?” Peter yells as he sees the bruise maring your face, and Wanda is silent behind him as he processes the scene. Her eyes are red, almost like she’s been crying. Was she crying for you?
“By that reaction I’m guessing you didn’t know about this. Maximoff, are those tears of sympathy or fear for your life?” your mom snaps and you glare at her.
“I didn’t know, if that’s what you’re asking. I wouldn’t have sat by while she was being hurt,” there’s an anger behind Wanda’s words that you weren’t expecting. You didn’t think she’d cared this much. It makes sense, though, when you think about how you’d feel if the situation was reversed.
“As much as I wanna walk down to the school guns blazing, I can’t go beat up a bunch of kids, so I’m going to need the two of you to look out for her,” you scoff and stand from the couch at your mom’s words, crossing your arms across your chest.
“Excuse me, I’m right here. I’m not an invalid! And Wanda doesn’t even go to my school.”
“I’m well aware, you and I are starting training as soon as that heals,” she gestures to your forehead, “and Wanda will be enrolling in your school. Tony can have it all set up by tomorrow.”
“What? No! I’m not letting her start school just so she can get beaten up too!” you practically yell, but Wanda’s hand on your arm has you looking to her.
“I’m not letting my…” there’s a heavy pause, one that you know you’ll have to find the right word for soon, “friend get hurt when I could help. Plus, they quite literally can’t hurt me, and I want to be there for you.”
Her words have your resolve cracking, but you don’t want to give in that easy. “You’re a year older. You’ll be gone before me,” you try to argue and Wanda looks away, a blush of embarrassment on her cheeks.
“She also missed a lot of school in Sokovia. She tested in a grade below you,” your mom explains, and it clicks as to why Wanda always did school online. Well one of the reasons at least, she’d be two years older than her classmates.
“Well I could tutor you,” you offer quickly, not wanting Wanda to feel ashamed in front of you. “It seems like we’re gonna be spending most of our time together. Plus you’re miles smarter than me. You’ll be the one teaching me in no time.”
“Then it’s settled. This won’t happen again.” Your mom’s words feel more like a promise and you smile. “And I want the names of the girls that did this to you.”
“Mom! I thought you agreed no beating up kids!” you argue, a smile finding its way back on your face as you try to hold back a laugh.
“I’m not going to beat them up. But I never said anything about some light hacking,” she says with a wink and you roll your eyes, not entirely sure if she’s kidding or not.

Drive Safely then | Calum Hood | Mature
Tumblr media
Pairing: Calum Hood x Reader (friends with benefits, college calum)
Warning: smut, talk about sex, blow job
Word count: 2,301 words
You sit, clicking your pen, again and again, waiting for the bell to ring in your last period class, History. Your history teacher drones on about something, a war maybe? You couldn’t help but let your mind drift to thinking about Calum, you kept thinking of the feeling of his hands sliding up your skirt slowly or his mouth trailing your body. You shake your head, turning your attention back to reality. You pull out your phone and start a text to Calum. It's been a full year since your arrangement with Calum started. You were a junior and he was a senior when it started. Now he’s in university and you’re finishing your senior year. He's a well-known soccer player at the local university and you're what you would call a slut at the local high school. You decided that it's beneficial for both of you, instead of sleeping around, you can just call each other for a hookup anytime. You could avoid the high school boys with their gossip and he could avoid the drama of girls wanting to be the girlfriend of the star player. It was exciting seeing an older boy with his own apartment because it wasn’t just hooking up in cars or bedrooms with families downstairs.
ME: What are you doing after school?
You set your phone on your thigh waiting for a response. You feel your phone vibrate quickly after.
CAL: Want me to pick you up?
You smiled.
ME: I hoped you would say that.
CAL: I'll be outside.
You set your phone down on your thigh and start to pack up your things. You had two minutes till class was over, it was the longest two minutes of your life, knowing that you could see Calum after this. It’s been two weeks since you last saw each other, you had gone longer without seeing him but recently you’ve been itching to see him. You just wanted to go see Calum. The bell rang and you got up as fast as you could. You were the first out of the classroom and you went storming down the hallway.
"Oooh ______ is practically running, she never does that," Your best friend says as he follows me down the hall, "Unless ______ is on her way to hook up with a certain someone..." He laughs. It wasn’t like it was a total secret but you didn’t want anyone to start talking about your relationship with Calum.
You flip him off, "Maybe I am," You laugh with an eye roll, "I'll talk to you later, Love you."
"Alright, love you." He laughs and goes in a different direction.
You get out the front of the school and down the steps. You had to hold yourself back from skipping to his car because of how excited you are. You head straight into the parking lot not stopping for anyone even after you hear people calling your name, waving hands at you. You see Calum's black truck, parked in the front row with the engine running. Calum sat in the driver's seat, on his phone. You get to the car and hop in. You throw your backpack on the floor and get buckled. You look over and see he’s wearing his soccer warm-ups with a beaning on his head, he must have come from practice this morning. Calum often picks you up from school since it’s the easiest place to meet him without getting questions from your parents.
"Took you fucking long enough," He leans over and kisses you slowly, just enough to tease you a bit he breaks apart and starts the car, “I was about to leave you here.” He snaps, you knew he didn’t mean it but you loved when he was like this and he knew that.
"Sorry Calum," You hummed lightly, shifting to press your thighs together, embarrassed of how turned on his simple words could make you, "I was on the opposite side of the school."
“Of course you were.” He rolls his eyes.
“I was,” You defend yourself quickly, “How was your day?”
Calum laughs, “Fine, boring as hell.” His hand finds a place on your knee,
“How was your day?”
“It was alright,” You shift lightly so the denim skirt you had worn today slid up,
“Pretty boring. I was thinking about you in class today.” You leaned closer to the center console.
“What did you think about?” Calum’s thumb traces circles around your knee.
“You want to know?” You giggled.
“Tell me what you were thinking about, baby girl.”
“Well,” You leaned across the console, pressing your chest against his arm, “I was thinking about how your hands would feel going up my skirt and the things your fingers can do to me or how your mouth feels on my skin or the way you taste.” You sit back in your seat as he backs out of the parking spot.
"Fuck," he mutters and moves a hand right to your inner thigh, fingers tracing circles around the soft flesh, "I can't wait to get out of here."
"Me either," You move his hand off of you.
"What the hell?" He turns and looks at me with shock, not used to you rejecting his advances in a moment like this.
"Shut up." You tell him, pulling your hair out of your face.
“What the hell do you mean ‘shut up’?” He snaps, looking around at the cars surrounding us as we wait in the afterschool traffic.
“I said shut up.” You repeat yourself as you unbuckle and move your hands over to his jeans. You move your hand over to palm him for a moment and he lets out a slight groan. You move to the waistband of his sweats.
You pull his dick out of the sweats slowly, "______, we’re literally still in the school parking lot..." He laughs, “You’re so eager today aren’t you?”
"I can't help yourself, it’s been two weeks," You said before you leaned down to kitten lick the tip, "I just want you now." You continued to lick slowly around the tip.
"Fuck," he groans as you took him in your mouth, "You're gonna get it later, baby girl." He takes one hand from the steering wheel and tugs at your hair. You moan as his grip on your hair tightens. You bob your head up and down at a tantalizing pace as he exits the parking lot. Finally moving at a regular speed compared to the way the car crawled through the parking lot earlier.
Calum drove very fast, probably going way above the speed limit, "Cal?" You pull off all the way and his hand comes away from your hair.
“Yes, baby?” He asks, turning to look at you before turning back to the road.
"You're going way over the speed limit aren't you?" You look up through your eyelashes.
"The faster you get to your house the faster I’ll get to feel that sweet body of yours on mine, baby girl." He shrugs and smirks. You smile and push your thighs further together at his words. Calum’s hand comes back into your hair and you go back to sucking him off. You feel his grip on your hair tighten, a sign that he is close, “I’m so fucking close.” He groans, “You’re gonna fucking kill us if you continue.”
You popped up for a minute, “Drive safely then.” You leaned back down before you giggled against his cock, the vibrations made him lose it. He finishes in your mouth. You pull up and look at him while swallowing. You carefully put his dick back in his pants for him, leaning back into your seat.
"You're so gonna get it..." You giggle and he pulls up in front of his apartment building. He parked in the spot next to one of his roommates, Ashton. It seems like Ashton is the only roommate here right now since Michael and Luke’s cars are missing.
You hop out of the car and leave your backpack in the car. You meet Calum at the front of the car. His arm wraps around your waist, hand resting loosely on your hip as he guides you up the stairs to your apartment. You get up the stairs and you get to the door and he unlocks the door with his free hand. Calum pushes the door open and you go in first with him following you. You get inside and head down the familiar hall, landing on the very last bedroom. You throw the door open, Calum coming in right after. You get into his room and toss off your shirt and shuck your shoes to the side before he even closes the door. He shuts the door, tosses his shirt to the side, and comes behind you. Calum puts his hands on your hips as his lips find your neck softly peppering around before finding the sweet spot below your ear. As soon as his lips touched that spot, you leaned your head back into his chest with a moan. He sucks on that spot a bit, sure to leave a purple mark behind which made you groan in annoyance. Your hands are busy unbuttoning your skirt, once the skirt is unbuttoned, you peel it off leaving you in a black lace bralette and red lace underwear. You mentally kicked yourself for not wearing a matching set today. His hands and lips detach from your body momentarily as he pulls his shirt off. Calum’s hands returned to your hips and moved around to get your underwear off. His lips moving to the base of your neck, definitely marking you up again.
Calum pulls back to look at you, “What is it with you and always wearing lace?” He eyed you up and down before returning to your neck, not waiting for an answer.
“I like it.” That was all you said between broken moans.
Calum pulls off of you, spinning you around to look you in the eye. You pull his sweats down slowly, you lean in and start kissing his neck. Calum pulls you off and walks you back, your knees hitting the bed before your back hits the mattress. He lies you on your back before he leans back in and begins kissing your neck as he hovers over you. You tangle your hands in his hair, biting your lip to suppress your moans, not wanting to be so loud since Ashton was still there. After a moment you pushed Calum over so that he lied on his back. You swung one leg over his hips so that you were straddling him with your hands resting on his chest.
He bites his lip and looks at you, "God I love this," He puts his hands on your hips, fingers digging into your hips, enough to leave bruises tomorrow. You didn’t understand his need to mark you up every time he touched you and it annoyed the hell out of you but no matter what you said, he would always claim it was an accident. You should’ve stopped to chastise him right then but you were more excited to get onto it. You kiss his lips quickly, then you move down his jaw, neck, and down his chest, to the hem of his boxers. You put your fingers on the edge and stop to look at him, "You are desperate to please today aren’t you?” He teases.
“It’s been too long.” You huffed.
“Well then,” He crosses his hands behind his head, “Don't let me stop you then." Calum shoots you a shit-eating grin.
"I won't," You smile as you begin to pull the hem down slowly, you're interrupted by a knock on the door. The knock startles both of you and you scramble off of Calum. You pull a pillow in front of your chest to hide from the person at the door and sit on your knees as he gets up angrily.
He cracks the door slightly, "What?" He spits through his teeth, you peek around him to see Ashton standing there.
"Dude don't yell at me," Ashton scoffs, "I just came to tell you that coach just called a mandatory meeting tonight so I would get dressed."
"Fuck," Calum turns to look at you, you worldlessly get up, scrambling to get dressed, "Thank you, Ash." Ashton nods before leaving. You pulled your shirt over your head again. Then you wrap your skirt around you, buttoning it quickly.
“This bites.” You groaned as you turned back to see him buttoning his pants. You finished buttoning your skirt. He slipped his t-shirt back on.
You bent over to slide your shoes on as he comes over behind you and puts his hands on your hips, "I’m sorry we got interrupted, I'll call you tonight?”
“Yeah, whatever.” You groaned as you knew that he wouldn’t call and it might be another week before you see him again.
“I’m sorry,” Calum rolls his eyes, “I didn’t think that coach would call a meeting this late.”
“It’s fine,” You huff and try to roll it off, only Calum can tell how irritated you are, “Don’t worry about it.” You turned to walk out only for Calum’s hand to catch yours.
“Actually baby,” He pulls you chest to chest with him, “How about you stay and I’ll make the meeting quick?” He says with his lips ghosting yours, “Or maybe I won’t go at all.”
You leaned forward and locked your lips moving softly, “You should go,” You said as you pulled off, “But I’ll definitely be here when you get back if you can make it quick.” You leaned in kissing his lips again before he pulled away with a smirk on his lips, heading for the door.

I want to see you smile
Pairing: Pietro Maximoff × fem!Stark! reader
Word count: 1.7K
Warnings: swearing (I think that’s it? If not, please let me know)
Type: fluff, friends to lovers
Summary: What happens when one friend falls in love with another? Are feelings mutual?
A/N: If you haven’t already noticed, I’m in love with friends to lovers trope. So yes, that’s what I’m writing. Again. In this fic, Thanos doesn’t exsist and everyone is alive. Just for clarification, Jenna is supossed to be Morgan’s babysitter. Also am I passing my obsession with Soy Luna to Morgan here? Yes, I am. This song is just so beautiful, yet sad at the same time. I don’t really like this, but oh weel, not everything can be amazing. Enjoy <3
Here's the link to the song
Tumblr media
“And don’t forget to turn in your essays tomorrow!” yells the teacher, right before the bell rings, dismissing you from your last class. You pick up your backpack and look at Peter, who just stood up from his chair. “Are we hanging out today?” you ask. “Yes, we have to go to the compound, remember? Everyone will be there, there’s some important meeting, even we have to attend,” he explains. “But Steve said it’s not going to be long, so we can hang out after,” he says and you nod. Peter and you were best friends, ever since junior year of high school. The first time your dad introduced him to you (not knowing you two already know each other), was hilarious.
“Y/N, come in here honey!” yelled Tony from the common area. You were doing your homework, minding your business when you heard your dad calling you. “Coming dad!” you answered back. Once you got to the dining area, your father immediately started to speak “I want you to meet someone.” he said, gesturing to the boy beside him. As your head turns, you recognize this boy as none other than Peter Parker. “Peter?!”
“Y/N?!” you both scream at the same time. “What are you doing here?” you asked, your eyes wide, surprise lacing your voice. “What am I doing here? The better question is what are you doing here?” he squeaked, his expression matching yours. “Woah, Woah, Woah, you two know each other?” Tony asked, just as confused as you were. “Yes we know each other, he’s basically my best friend,” you explained, Tony’s jaw dropping to the ground. “So that’s why you never let me come to your house,” chuckled Peter, finally putting all the pieces together. “Yea, that’s why.” you gently smiled. “Let’s introduce again, shall we? Hello, I’m Y/N, Y/N Stark.” you introduced yourself, making Peter laugh slightly. “Hey Y/N, I’m Peter Parker, also known as Spider-man.” now it was your turn to be surprised. “You’re Spider-man?!?” you asked. “And you’re a Stark! We’re even.”
“I guess we are.”
Once you got to the compound, everyone was already there, even Morgan, to your surprise. “Mom, what’s Morgan doing here?” you question. “Wait a second, mom what are you doing here??” you now almost scream. “Didn’t Dad tell you?” she says and you shook your head no. “Oh, well, I told him to tell you, but what can you expect from Tony Stark?” she sighs. “Last mission went wrong and now a HYDRA base knows the addresses of all the Avengers, including ours, that’s why I’m here. And about Morgan... well we couldn’t reach Jenna, so we took her with us.” she frowns. “Oh, okay-” you were cut off, by none other than the famous Captain America. “Okay, so, I know you’re probably asking yourself ´What the hell are we doing here on our free day?´ but I have a good explanation for it. It has come to our attention that while we were on our last mission, fighting off HYDRA agents, some of them snuck into our jet and stole some information, including our home addresses. Now, since more than half of us lives here, or is from another planet,” he says, gesturing to Thor, “it’s not so serious, except for Tony, Pepper, Y/N, Peter, and Bruce. Your addresses have been compromised, so I would suggest for you to stay here for a couple of weeks, just to be safe.” he ends his long explanation, and all of you agree to stay here. “Wow, I need to call Aunt May,” says Peter, and you nod, gesturing for him to go. After you shoo Peter away, to go and talk to May, Pietro appears behind you, his usual smirk printed on his lips “Hey, printsessa.” he greets and you wave. “Hello Pietro, how are you?” you smile, his presence always making you happy, no matter how hard the day was. “I’m good, you?" he questions. “I’m okay, it just sucks a little, all this not-going-home thing. But at least I get the time to hang out with my favorite speedster.” you chuckle, Pietro joining. You make small talk, just usual things. Somehow you end on the couch and the next time you look at the clock, it’s already time for dinner. Today is Wanda’s turn to cook, and to say you are starving is an understatement. You couldn’t wait for her famous paprikash.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s been a couple of days since the meeting and you and Peter just came back from school, to a very unusual scene. Before you, there are all the Avengers, looking at something on the big screen. You and Peter look at each other confused, as to what could leave them in such a state. As you get closer, you see what they’re all so interested in. It’s a show called Soy Luna and you burst out laughing, now all the attention focusing on you. “Y-you’re watch-watching Soy Lu-Luna?” you say through giggles, making some of them blush. “Well, as a matter of fact, it really sucks you in.” defends Natasha, receiving hums of agreement. “Sure, whatever you say.”
“On which episode are you?” Peter asks. “I think it’s season 3, episode 25,” answers Wanda. “Oh my god, I love this episode, scoot over,” you say to Bucky, gesturing for him to move. He moves a little to the right, making space between him and Wanda. You sit in the middle while Peter sits on the ground, besides Steve. “Morgan wanted to watch it, right?” you ask, a smirk still playing on your lips. “Yea.” Wanda sighs defeated, and your smile widens, just a little. Right as you were about to turn your attention to the screen, Morgan appears in front of your eyes. “Hey bubba, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be watching the series?” you question, your brows furrowed. “Yea, I just wanted to be with you!” she exclaims and turns around, sitting into your lap. “Awwww,” you whisper, overwhelmed with her cuteness. 10 minutes in, Morgan screams that your favorite song is coming. “Look Y/N, Matteo is about to perform your favorite song!”
“You’re right Morgan,” you say, trying to calm her down from her excited state. “Will you sing it? Pleaseee,” she demands, looking at you with puppy eyes. Oh, damn it, not her puppy eyes, you think, agreeing, because c’mon, who can say no to those pretty eyes of hers. “But only because you asked nicely,” you add, making Morgan smile. Soon enough, the first tunes of Quiero verte sonreir start to play. She looks at you expectantly, as do all the others. Right before you start singing you make eye contact with Pietro.
“No lo puedo evitar,
yo no te dejo de pensar,
y las noches son frías si tú no estás.
No lo puedo entender,
como no te has dado cuenta...”
(I can’t help it, I can’t stop thinking about you, and the nights are cold, if you’re not here. I don’t understand, how you haven’t noticed...)
There’s something in his eyes, that makes you not look away, not wanting to look away. Finally, your stare breaks, as Morgan bumps you, wanting some attention. “...Pero tengo miedo de pensar,
que no te vayas enamorar...”
(...But I'm afraid to think, that you’re not going to fall in love...)
You bump her nose, making your heart feel loved, because you made your little sister happy, even if just for two minutes.
Your eyes are back on Pietro, decided to dedicate the chorus to him, even if he doesn’t understand you.
“... Quiero verte sonreír,
quiero verte junto a mí,
no puedo ya no quiero,
no es fácil ocultar mis miedos...”
(I want to see you smile, I want to see you next to me, I can’t take it anymore, I don’t want to, it's not easy to hide my fears...)
But you forgot there’s someone else in the room, who speaks Spanish fluently. As the song comes to an end, you know what’s coming, so right when you finish with your singing, you quickly scream: “Someone cover Morgan’s eyes, she’s too innocent to see what’s coming.” as a joke, not expecting for Bucky to actually cover her eyes. “Oi, Barnes, I was kidding!” you say while laughing your ass off. You spend the rest of your afternoon with your team, binge-watching Soy Luna, completely falling into trance. The duty of cooking dinner falls on you and Peter, others still not turning their eyes away from the screen. You decided to cook Mac and cheese, the only thing you both actually know how to cook. “How long have you been into Pietro?” he suddenly asks, making you choke on your water. “Wh- what?” you struggle while coughing, Peter tapping you on your back, helping you to regain your breath again. “C’mon, you don’t have to pretend with me.” he smiles, reminding you just how of an awesome friend he is. “Is it that obvious?” you ask, looking at him like you just swallowed a spider. “No, but I notice these things, the way you look at him, the way your lips always form a smile, the second you lay eyes on him, the way you speak to him like you’re gonna melt any second. Besides, I speak Spanish, so that right there,” he gestures to the living room, “tells me enough.” he finishes with a light chuckle. “Shit, I forgot you understand Spanish,” you exclaim, joining him. “Soo, you like me?” you hear someone say, his thick accent lacing his voice, knowing who he was. “Fuck,” you whisper under your breath, slowly turning around. “How much have you heard?” you carefully ask, scrunching your nose and closing your eyes. “Enough,” he says, that adorably annoying smirk playing on his lips. “I’m gonna just slowly go, because, well, this is awkward.” Peter quickly exits the kitchen, making you angry at him for leaving. “Is it true?” you hear him say, and you focus your attention back on him. Oh, fuck it, you think before speaking “Yes, it is. But I know you don’t feel the same, so can we just pretend this didn’t happen, because I don’t want to make things akw-” he crashes his lips onto yours, guiding them into a sweet yet passionate kiss. His hands are on your waist, yours travelling up his body till you reach his hair, slowly playing with his blond curls. Cheers erupt from the door, making you look at them. And there they are, the whole team clapping and cheering, a “Finally! I couldn’t take the tension anymore!” escaping Wanda, making you chuckle. “I hate all of you, I swear to god,” you say, looking away from them and into those beautiful ocean eyes of his.
But you hate each other - Tierna Davidson x Reader
Prompt: I’m horrible at prompts but a baby T imagine where the reader and her are college rivals? or something along those lines.
Not sure if this is what you wanted, hope I am close.
“Y/L/N and Davidson,” one the of the team managers called out the room assignments for the camp that all the players just arrived for.
Y/N and Tierna both slowly stood from their chairs in the boardroom, walking to the front to get their room keys.
The rest of the players sharing brief looks, knowing there was some animosity between the two players. They had played for years together at Stanford, always an under lying tension simmering. Y/N and Davidson got along, for the most part, but there was definitely some form of rivalry between them.
Neither of the soccer players said anything, each taking a key, continuing to the elevators to their room.
“Remember, bus in half hour for training!” Vlatko called after all the retreating players.
The elevator ride up was in silence, everyone unsure of what to say, sensing the tension.
 Half an hour later, the team was on the bus making their way to the first practice of camp. The roommates now separated, the tension gone.
The tension returned near the end of practice during scrimmage, Tierna at defense and Y/N at forward, the two regularly facing each other.
The two battled the entire scrimmage, neither letting up.
“It’s practice Davidson, chill the fuck out,” Y/N said, getting up from another slide tackle from Tierna, frustration evident.
The defender just rolled her eyes, ignoring the forwards comments.
Everyone watched on as the two challenged each other for the scrimmage, waiting for the tension to become too much. Neither player pushing the other too far, just enough to frustrate the other.
After practice, everyone made their way back to the bus, todays practice had been relatively easy, meant to ease the players back in, tomorrow would be fitness testing however.
Y/N and Davidson had both been quickly swooped by other members of the team after returning to the hotel. Everyone having the same mindset, wanting to avoid any potential conflict between the two.
While the team knew there was some unspoken tension between the two, no one had been bolded enough to ask where the tension came from, surprisingly.
“Alright Baby T, what is the deal with you and Y/N?” Julie asked while they lounged in her room later that evening.
“What do you mean? Her and I good,” Tierna replied, confused, focused on her phone.
“What do you mean what do I mean?” Julie commented again, “the two of you look like we shouldn’t even trust you guys to room together.”
“Y/N and I are a little competitive together, that’s it,” Tierna commented again, shrugging her shoulders, smiling at her phone now.
“If you say so, you guys just looked ready to take each other out at practice this afternoon.”
Julie dropped the subject for now, knowing she would still keep an eye on the two younger players.
 “How long do you think they’ll go?” Sam whispered to Rose.
The team was doing the beep test, Y/N and Tierna were the last two running. Both exhausted, pushing themselves well past their limits.
As they each approached the line again, they glanced to each other, giving each other a small nod, they ran again.
Both had far surpassed the mandatory level, Dawn watched the players closely, debating how far to allow the players to push themselves.
Watching them go one more, both of them struggling to get full breaths. Dawn decided enough was enough and called them off.
“Alright thing one and thing two, that’s enough. I don’t know what competition you have going on but it’s done.”
The two stood next to each other, hands on their knees catching their breath. They both glanced to each other, sharing a small nod and smile.
“They smiled at each other, they can’t totally hate each other,” Rose whispered.
 Camp continued the same. Y/L/N and Davidson continue to battle each other at everything; getting on the bus first, finishing eating first, getting to the room first to shower, everything. Practices were brutal between the two, neither working to injure the other, but challenge the other.
Vlatko had kept them on the same team for scrimmage this practice. As much as the two seemed to have a strong distaste for each other, they worked incredibly well together. Connecting passes easily, reading where the other would be, meshing incredibly well.
Everyone was stunned watching the two, not expecting the two to play so well together. The two may have played together at Stanford, but watching the two play after seeing how much tension there seemed to be was nothing short of incredible. The two played together flawlessly. Y/N had even managed to help Tierna score during the scrimmage.
 “What the hell was that?” Julie questioned as soon as they sat on the bus.
“What was what?” Tierna questioned, not looking up from her phone.
“You really need to stop answering my questions with a question! And who are texting all the time?” Julie challenged, frustrated.
“I really don’t know what you’re talking about JJ,” Tierna said calmly, glancing up from her phone, avoiding the second question.
Julie just rolled her eyes.
“How the hell do you and Y/N go from looking ready to tear each other apart to playing like?”
“We played for four years together at Stanford, obviously we are good together,” Tierna shrugged, going back to her phone.
“You are impossible! The two of you ran each other into the ground during the beep test, now you’re sending her passes without even looking!” Julie countered, frustration mounting.
“Don’t know what to tell you,” she just shrugged, cutting off the conversation.
Julie flopped back in her seat, aggravated.
“What are you up to tonight? I think a few of us were thinking of watching a movie,” Julie tried to change the subject.
“I’m pretty tired, I’m just going to spend the night in my room,” Tierna replied.
“You and Y/N going to manage not to kill each other?”
“I’m sure we’ll manage.”
 Once at the hotel, everyone made their way to their own rooms.
“Seriously Dunny, it’s not right. How do they play four years together, but hate each other so much?” Julie ranted to Crystal in their room.
“I don’t know Jayje, maybe something happened while they played. You saw them today, they work well together, last week they broke the beep test record, I wouldn’t worry about it.”
“Nope I don’t like it!” Julie expressed, jumping off her bed and making her way to the door.
“Where are you going?” Dunn jumped up as well, following the blonde.
“To make them be friends!”
Julie stormed down the hallway to Y/L/N and Davidsons room, stopping briefly at the front desk for a copy of their room key. Bending the truth slightly to convince the person there to give her a copy.
“This ends now!” She explained, pushing the hotel door open.
Barging into the room, Julie stopped at the edge of the bed.
“You have got to be kidding me!” She exclaimed, when she saw the two women.
Y/N was laying on her back, looking confused having just been woken up. Tierna slowly pushed herself off Y/N’s chest, just waking up as well.
“What?” Y/N asked confused, voice gravely with sleep.
“You hate each other!”
“It would be really weird if I hated her,” Tierna sat up fully, rubbing her eyes and yawning.
“That’s literally the opposite actually,” Y/N sat up as well, adding her own yawn.
“Wait, what?”
“Hate is the opposite of how I feel about Tierna,” Y/N smirked.
“Quit toying with her,” Tierna smacked Y/N on the chest. “We have been together since Junior year at Stanford.”
“Wait, what?” JJ repeated.
“We don’t hate each other, we having been dating for several years, she plays in Chicago, I play in Houston, we live together in the off season in California,” Y/N sits up fully, clearly explaining what’s going on.
“Wait, what?”
“What else is there to understand? We are competitive together, neither big fans of PDA, don’t know what else to tell you,” Tierna shrugged as well.
“Congrats?” Julie said hesitantly, still seemingly confused.
“You staying? Or can we go back to sleep?” Y/N asked, sliding back down to go back to sleep.
Warnings: swearing, make out, violence
(September 1)
We’re one minute away. Come out hoe!
You smile as you read the text, glancing at yourself in the mirror again, nerves and excitement ablaze in your stomach. You’d been planning for this day since last winter, and now it was finally here. You adjust your carefully styled hair and double check that the natural makeup you applied was sitting on your skin correctly.
Of course it was. That goddamn injection sometimes made you feel like a vampire out of twilight and sometimes you still got surprised when you saw your own face while passing a mirror or a particularly reflective window. You smooth down the ruffles of your short black skirt and tug the top of your tank top down so a bit more of your curves show.
You put on your white sneakers and tug your shirt back up to cover your chest again. We’ll have to work up to that, I guess. A long honk sounds from outside your apartment building and you curse as you scramble to grab your backpack and phone before running down and out the front steps.
“Awwww,” You say sweetly at the sight of the two girls who had become your best friends. “That’s the shirt you were wearing when we met, Ally.” You jokingly brush away a tear, pretending to be ultra touched.
“Best damn day of my life.” Ally says from her spot in the drivers seat, laughing at your dramatics. She may be joking around, but her sentiment makes your heart clench. This year really was going to be different.
***
(July 3)
You quickly realized you needed to find some Midtown friends if your plan for senior year was going to work. If you dared to show up looking, well, like you do, completely alone and friendless, you might become even more of an outcast than you were before. The first month of summer had been the least lonely time of your year so far, thanks to a certain Spiderman.
The two of you spent most of your nights together, flying through the city, fighting crime together, and talking. The “slow” nights that used to fill you with boredom quickly became your favorite when he was involved. The sound of his laugh and the jokes he makes during fights quickly became the highlight of your days.
But you couldn’t let yourself get too distracted by him. After all, neither of you knew what the other looked like. The only other boy you’d ever found remotely cute (other than celebrities) was nerdy Peter Parker from your high school. He wasn’t your usual type and he seemed to be just as shy as you were, so you had little (zero) hope that it would ever lead to anything more than a smile during the hallway if you accidentally made eye contact.
Sorry Spiderman, but no way in hell are you gonna make me lose my focus. The loneliness you had felt through the last three years of high school was too much. Your plan had to work. So that night as the two of you patrolled together, you softly mentioned that you were going to a pool party tomorrow and wouldn’t be able to meet.
He seemed a bit disappointed, but you brushed it off, trying to remember the names of the girls at your school who seemed nice. Peter, however, couldn’t focus on anything other than the fact that you had told him where you would be tomorrow. There was only so many pool parties in a city like New York.
You tried not to think about who was under the Spiderman mask out of respect and, to be honest, it seemed like a pointless endeavor. Peter was not the same. No matter how tired he was from patrol, he always had time to lay awake before he fell asleep and picture what you would look like under the mask.
There wasn’t very many people who understood Peter’s secret life. None, actually, until you. Maybe that was why he was so intrigued by you, because you were so similar, but in his heart he knew that wasn’t it. He liked you. And he hated himself for it. But once you mentioned the pool party, he made sure to take one long last glance at the color of your hair before you two said goodbye. Just in case he happened to see that same hair tomorrow.
(July 4)
You were so, so nervous. Your closet of exclusively sweats and hoodies was trashed as Part 1 of your plan, much to your mother’s happiness. She had always been honest about her hatred of your junior year clothes and was extremely excited to purchase everything you needed. As distant as she was, you had to give her a little credit.
Although you’d been wearing the new clothes for the past month, this was the first time you were doing it so publicly. Your denim shorts exposed miles of smooth leg, and you’d decided to wear a red tube top in honor of the holiday-not to mention it really showed off your curves. You’d meticulously done your hair and makeup like you’d been practicing the past month and prayed that somebody would talk to you today.
You’d seen the flyer for the Fourth of July party on Instagram, which had been step 2. Unfortunately, you had two followers. Your mom and her boyfriend. Step 2 is a work in progress.
One long walk later, and you’re in front of the address. You swear you could explode of nerves right there, but instead you take a deep breath and force your legs to carry you inside the house and towards the people out by the pool.
Your eyes are so focused on your destination, the glass sliding door, that you barely notice when you bump shoulders with someone, causing you to drop your phone.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry. I wasn’t looking where I was going.” You say, reaching down to grab your phone.
“Oh my god, stop. That was totally my fault.” You stand back up to see the girl who was speaking, and you recognize her immediately. Her name is Ally, and she’s a part of the most popular group at school. Despite her long black hair and sweet smile, you haven’t heard many good things about her. Not the type of person you were looking for.
“Do you go to Midtown? I don’t think I’ve seen you around.” Ally says, making no move to walk away from the conversation.
“Yeah, actually. My name is Y/n?” You don’t miss the way her eyebrows raise and her eyes widen with confusion and shock. You’re embarrassed now, realizing maybe you weren’t as invisible as you’d thought. In an effort to explain away the last few years, “My dad left a couple years ago and it was pretty hard on me, but I’m all better now.” You flash the most dazzling smile you can manage and hope she accepts it.
“No way, mine did too!” She gasps as she grabs your hands. You feel a small pang of guilt at that. It was a lie, you had no idea who your dad was and frankly, you didn’t think your mom knew either.
The conversation starts to flow between you and Ally easily as you make your way out to the pool. “This is my best friend Betty.” Ally introduces you to the sweet-as-pie girl and the three of you quickly fall into a conversation like you’d known each other forever. A few of their guy friends tried to come up and talk to you, but she just waved them away. “Leave us alone, we just met our new best friend.”
You felt bad for judging Ally so harshly earlier, blindly trusting the stupid rumors you’d heard about her. Popular or not, the three of you got along better than any of the other friends you’d tried to make throughout your life. They do briefly make fun of your instagram before forcing you to take and post pictures with the two of them by the pool. They both tag your account.
Peter didn’t seem to share the good luck you did. He’d dragged Ned to 6 different pool parties across the city and saw no one who looked like Sapphire. Disappointed, he spent the night patrolling alone and dodging fireworks.
***
(September 1)
Since that day, you’d become a trio with Ally and Betty. The day after the pool party you’d woken up to nearly 1,000 followers on your instagram. Everyone from Midtown who never gave you a second look when you had your hood shoved over your head now wanted to be your friend.
The three of you spent the rest of your summer days together, and you fit into the popular friend group better than you could have imagined. Maybe you watched too many teen movies, but you expected them to be mean. The only mean one was Flash, and even he was basically harmless. You’d given up Saturday night patrols with Spiderman for a weekly girls night with your new best friends. You thought having new friends and a bustling social life would’ve made it easier to forget about Spiderman, but somehow he seeped into every area of your life.
That damn laugh. As Ally and Betty sing along to the radio loudly, you bite your lip to stop a dumb smile from rising to your lips. God, just thinking about him made you flustered. As Ally drives into the school parking lot, nerves bubble in your stomach.
As if you aren’t stressed enough, your brain decides this is the perfect moment to remind you of the one night this summer you and Spiderman haven’t talked about since.
*** (August 14)
The two of you were sprawled out on a gravel rooftop next to each other. Not the most comfortable of relaxing spots, but you’d both grown tired of flying around under the summer heat with no hint of trouble for miles.
“This sucks.” Spiderman huffs out.
“Rude.” You reply quickly, even though you know he isn’t talking about you.
“Oh, no,” He immediately sits up. “I didn’t mean you suck, I just meant, you know, because there’s not much going on right now and it’s hot and-” He sees your cheeky smile and stops himself with a laugh. “Sorry.”
“No, it’s cute.” You bite your lip. The fuck did I just say? Before you can begin to explain, he jumps to his feet.
“Spidey sense, let’s go!” You jump up too and follow after him as he jumps off the building. Thank god. I’ve never been so grateful that someone’s in trouble. The fight was tough, even with the both of you. These men had strange guns that keep firing at you and Spiderman even though you’d tried multiple times to crush them with your powers.
“The guns are magic-proof! I can’t destroy them!” You yell over to Spiderman as you take down one of the men in between punches.
Somehow, two men get ahold of their guns and corner you. Just as you start levitating to fly over them, a web shoots from somewhere behind them and the men and their guns are yanked away. Spiderman wastes no time and you swear he seems angry with the two men as he webs them to the wall next to their friends before picking up the guns and violently smashing them on the ground.
You’re still frozen in shock, watching him. When he seems to be satisfied with the broken pile of guns on the floor, he runs back over to you. “I’m so sorry, I know we promised-” You finally break out of whatever trance you were in to place a finger over his lips, casting a disgusted glance towards the men staring at you from their webbed cocoons.
“Not here.” You say quietly, and fly the two of you quickly up to the roof. He blinks for a second, his head spinning from the speed. You rarely use your full speed, especially with him, but you had to get out of there. “Okay, go ahead.” You say after a second of silence.
“I’m so sorry, I know we agreed not to get in each other’s way, and I know you can handle yourself, probably better than I can. Hold on, I didn’t mean I handle you. That sounded weird. Anyways, I just got so angry when I saw those men pointing their guns at you I had to-” He’s talking about the agreement you two had made when you first started working together. You both obviously were skilled, so you agreed that you wouldn’t interrupt each other’s fights unless asked.
“Spidey, I really don’t care you interrupted. It was hot.” JESUS CHRIST NOT AGAIN. You immediately winced and slap a hand over your mouth. “Oh my god I did NOT mean to say that I’m so sorry.”
Your rambling is cut off as Spiderman’s hand travels up to the bottom of his mask and you think your eyes might fall out of your head with how wide they become as he begins to pull it up, revealing the soft pale skin of his neck.
His jaw, chin, and then lips become visible as he lets the mask rest on his nose. The 0.5 seconds that have passed since you stopped talking feel like an eternity until he suddenly leans forward, crashing his lips into yours. Spiderman is an amazing kisser, you decide, as you gently kiss him back.
WHAT AM I DOING? Your mind is going haywire but instead of stopping, you deepen the kiss and nearly smile when he lets out a low moan. Everything you’ve told yourself about focus and distractions flies out the window when his gloved hands clutch your waist and pull you closer to him than you thought possible.
It feels like it’s only been a second when he pulls away, but your eyes flicker to his swollen lips and you know it must have been longer. You smile as you stare at his lips, only inches from yours, but as your gaze moves to the rest of his exposed skin the smile drops slowly.
Your rational mind comes back. It’s easy to forget when you’re with him that you’ve only known each other a couple months. How could you do this? Your first time making out with a boy, and he doesn’t even know your name.
“We shouldn’t be doing this.” You whisper as he starts to say something.  “Sorry, what were you going to say?” He blinks slowly and takes a deep breath before stepping away from you.
“Nevermind. See you tomorrow.” And he swings away from you. You silently curse yourself for being such a big mouth, wanting to know what he would have said. You can’t help the small voice in the back of your head, telling you that you made the wrong decision.
You raise your hand to run your fingers along your tingling lips before flying home as fast as you can.
***
(September 1)
You wince at the painful memory before reminding yourself everything was back to normal the next day and neither of you mentioned it again. You still weren’t sure if that was good or bad. You force all thoughts of Spiderman out of your brain and even give Ally an encouraging cheer when she successfully parks on her first try.
You don’t remember Midtown having so many fucking students last year, but maybe it was because they were all staring at you. Any confidence you’d had as you opened Ally’s car door had disappeared as everyone around you turned to gawk. The bright smile you’d pasted on a second ago quickly fell and you glanced at Ally nervously.
“Come on, girls!” She says enthusiastically, grabbing an arm from you and Betty as she breaks the brief moment of awkward silence. God bless you Ally. As the three of you hoist your bags over your shoulders and make your way into the school, you mouth a quick thank you her way, hoping she can see your genuine appreciation. She smiles at you. “I’m happy we’re going into this year as three instead of two.”
Betty leans forward to smile at you. “Me too, y/n. I’m really happy you’re here.”  You smile back brightly. There really was no one as sweet as Betty.
“You won’t be so happy I’m here when I talk your ear off during class.” The three of you continue laughing and joking your way down the hall to stop at your lockers.
“Oh my god, is that Y/n?” Ned interrupts Peter’s latest ramble about his night with Sapphire. Usually, he really did listen. Ned was fully invested in the superhero love story, as he called it, unfolding. But the sight of a girl notorious for hiding in her own baggy clothes across the hall in a miniskirt and tank top was more important.
“Y/n?” Peter asks, confused why Ned wasn’t paying attention. But when he turned around to see what Ned was staring at, he understood. He’d seen you around school the past three years, but never like this.
You looked like a fucking model. And everyone in the hall couldn’t help but stare. “Holy shit.”
“Right, dude?” Ned breathes out, the two of them shamelessly staring. “Why didn’t that happen to me over summer? Oh my god, of course she’s friends with Betty.”
Peter laughs as his best friend goes on about “two pretty best friends” but he can’t take his eyes off of you. The light in your eyes as you joke with your friends, making them double over in laughter, feels strangely familiar. Or maybe that’s wishful thinking on his part because you’re extremely pretty.
He watches in surprise as you and Ally walk up to the AP Chem classroom, waving goodbye to Betty sadly as she heads off to English. You turn to walk into the classroom after Ally, but you pause and look back down the hallway-right at him. Instead of yelling at him for being a creep like he expected, you smile at him widely before heading into the class. He exhales deeply and glances down at his schedule quickly, a smile appearing. AP Chem.
Of course his thoughts are still consumed by Sapphire, but it was hard to ignore you especially after seeing his name on the seating chart next to yours in the back row. Plus, Sapphire was the one who’d shot him down after he finally tried to make a move after catching onto the hints he thought she’d been dropping.
He felt bad for thinking that about her, he didn’t blame her at all. He knew there was a million reasons they shouldn’t be together-and he didn’t want to know specifics on why he wasn’t good enough. Sapphire hadn’t brought up that night since, and he was fine to pretend it never happened.
You were already in your seat at the lab table, but Ally was still standing next to you waving her hands wildly as you two spoke. He doesn’t want to interrupt so he freezes in place, unsure of whether or not to go sit down. He’d thought you were cute, and a little shy like him in freshman and sophomore year and he remembered the many times he would look at you from across the room like he is now.
His eyes had been quick to find you whenever you two were in the same room ever since the first day of school freshman year when you smiled at him in the hall. Even last year, when all he saw of you was a curled up lump at your desk or a sliver of hair peeking out from behind your hood he still noticed you.
Luckily for him, the bell rings and he slides into his seat just as the teacher begins speaking. “Hi, Peter.” You lean over to him, your shoulders nearly touching, and whisper so the teacher doesn’t hear. “I’m y/n.” You smile warmly as his cheeks and ears turn light pink.
“You don’t have to introduce yourself. We’ve gone to school together since we were 6?” Now it’s your turn to be embarrassed and you purse your lips together.
“No, I know, just-” Peter notices you seem a bit frustrated as you glance around the room and then lean even closer to him. “Everybody thinks I’m new.” You nervously mess with your bracelet.
“You do look a bit different.” He points out and you raise your eyebrows before sighing slowly and shrugging.
“I was just sick of feeling invisible, you know. Not because I care what anyone here thinks. Last year was just, really, really lonely.” Peter watches you intently as you speak, hanging onto your every word.
Your confession made him sad. If only he’d been brave enough to ask if you were okay. You pause for a second and meet his eyes. Any other guy in this school would’ve laughed at you by now. You gesture to your outfit and nervously adjust your skirt. “I’m also not a superficial person. It wasn’t about changing how I looked, I just needed the confidence to put myself out there.” You pause and nod towards Ally with a smile. Peter glances over to Ally and sees her blow you a kiss, which you catch across the room with a giggle.
I miss you! She mouths with a dramatic frown and this time Peter laughs quietly with you. “I thought she was a bitch before I met her.” He looks at you with surprise to find you smiling at him. “But,” you hold up a finger for dramatic effect, “because I put myself out there, I met my best friends. A lot of people around here judge on appearances. I’m not like that anymore.” You say with confidence.
“That’s really cool of you.” Peter whispers back, and the sound sends an involuntary shiver down your spine. He’s so close to you and the feelings you thought you left behind two years ago don’t seem so left behind as you stare into his warm eyes. “For the record, I’d be your friend no matter what you look like.”
Peter has only been this nervous a couple times before in his life, and he can’t help but feel like he’s betraying Sapphire with the way he’s thinking about you. He watches as you smile warmly at his words and extend your hand towards his.
“Friends? Even though I'm so much uglier now?” You pout your bottom lip out, a smile tugging at the corners of your mouth. He nearly laughs out loud and has to remind himself you’re still in class. “I know guys go wild for the homeless man sweatpants look.” You’re both trying to hold back your laughter, shaking silently in the back of the class as he raises his hand and grabs yours.
“Friends.” Peter isn’t sure why he keeps going, but he does. “And just so you know, you were never ugly. I don’t know why you tried so hard to hide yourself last year, but even then,” the words leaving his mouth sound confident but Peter takes a deep breath before looking up from his lap to meet your eyes. Your wide eyes and surprised smile give him just the confidence he needs to finish. “You could never be ugly.” Peter can hear his heart beating.
You blink at him. This boy could not be real. Here he was, basically implying that the one thing you had wanted all along, for somebody to notice you, was true. Not only was it true, but it was Peter fucking Parker telling you this. Despite everything that had changed you in the past year, the giddy feeling in your bones brought you back to sophomore year and pining over Peter.
“Really?” Your smile spreads and he seems to let out a deep breath of relief.
“Yeah.” He smiles back at you until your sweet moment is interrupted by a fat ass syllabus dropping onto the lab table in front of you.
“Fuck,” you whisper. “This class is gonna be so much homework.” You turn the page so Peter can briefly see the list of projects alone, and it’s enough to make him cringe.
Something about the way the whispers travel back and forth between you all class makes you realize you hadn’t fallen into a friendship this easily, even with Ally. Even with Spiderman, your brain points out.
A red and blue suit swings into your mind and you are hit with a wave of guilt. Not two hours ago I was thinking about my make out with Spiderman, and now I’m comparing him to Peter?
You have all but one class together, and you can’t help but glance in Peter’s direction any chance you get. The only time you don’t see him is at lunch, even though you look all around the lunch room for him or the boy he’d been standing with this morning. You thought it would be too creepy to ask him where he’d been.
Finally, the last bell of the day rang, and you were sure if you didn’t have superpowers you would’ve been exhausted. School is kinda draining when you actually acknowledge people. Ally and Betty share your complaints about being tired on your drive home, all three of you agreeing you need naps. You kiss them both on the cheek and wave goodbye before heading up to your room.
Forget what I said about having superpowers. I’m fucking tired. You lay down on your bed, groaning into the pillow at the thought of having to patrol tonight. You sat up abruptly. You’d never dreaded patrol, it was always the thing you looked forward to. You glance towards the suit in your closet and sigh.
It’s not patrol I’m nervous about. It’s him. You feel incredibly guilty about today. I’m not a two timer. If I want to like Peter, I have to talk to Spiderman about that kiss first. You start to make your way over to the closet before another wave of exhaustion hits, sending you straight back to your bed.
After a nap. Then we’ll talk.
Majid’s School Uniform Story (R)
Tumblr media
aka riddle gets to tutor another unfortunate soul
“The library is an ideal place to nap… Just don’t tell Senior Jamil about this, okay?!”
[Location:NRC Library]
Majid: *yawns* Seems like I’ve studied enough Magic History for today. Haah… If only Mr. Trein would lighten up on the homework. So what if that essay had to be 4 pages front AND back? He should’ve been more clear about that in his lecture.
Majid: …Well, not like I was listening in the first place. *yawns* The sunlight there is always so nice in the afternoons… I can’t help but sleep a little while I’m there.
*rustle* *rustle*
Majid: Ah, and the next subject I have to work on is…Math? What a pain of a class. *yawns* If only… if only I could juusst-
*thunk*
Majid: *snoring*
*footsteps*
Riddle: Is that…
*footsteps* *THUD*
Majid: !!!
Riddle: I thought so. You’re a freshman from Scarabia, correct? The one who’s always getting pulled along by your vice dorm leader because you keep dozing off?
Majid: …Sure.
Riddle: The library is not an appropriate place to sleep. If you wanted to take a nap, then hurry back to your dorm room, and do it there.
Majid: Yeah, okay.
Riddle: You… you’ve been acting rather impudent for a while now. I’m a 2nd year, you know? You should speak to your seniors with more respect. AND no one should be using the library as a place to procrastinate like this. Not to mention the way you present yourself in your uniform… You leave me no other choice. State your name.
Majid: What for?
Riddle: Your actions have been deplorable. I need your name to report them to your dorm leader.
Majid: Haha… It’s not like the dorm leader’s gonna care much about something as small as napping. Can’t you just let this slide?
Riddle: Alright, then I’ll talk to your vice dorm leader instead.
Majid: Ah, it’s Sebek Zigvolt, sir.
Riddle: Don’t mess with me!! Sebek Zigvolt is a Diasmonia student!
Majid: Well, I never said that was my name. I was just pointing out that he was walking right behind you at that moment.
Riddle: …Ah, so he was- HOLD ON A MINUTE.
*rustle*
Riddle: AND WHERE EXACTLY DO YOU THINK YOU’RE GOING?
Majid: Tch. And I thought this would be the perfect time to escape too.
Riddle: TELL ME YOUR ACTUAL NAME, OR IT’S OFF WITH YOUR HEAD.
Majid: SH- SHAHIN, MAJID. MY NAME IS SHAHIN, MAJID, SIR;;;
Riddle: *sighs* So, Majid then. Good.
Majid: ‘What the hell’s ‘off with your head’ supposed to mean??? Is it some kind of decapitation spell???? Was I about to die a couple seconds ago??? Do the library workers have to clean up my splattered remains after this guy’s done with me??? Surely that kind of thing wouldn’t be allowed- No… our headmaster is plenty screwed up; he wouldn’t do anything to help me-’
Riddle: Majid.
Majid: !!! Yes.
Riddle: *tap* *tap* Is this a worksheet from your math class? I saw a couple of my underclassmen trying to finish it in our dorm… You should really get started on it. The deadline is tomorrow, correct?
Majid: Uh, yea- yes. I’ll go ahead and do that… sir.
Riddle: Well?
Majid: Wait, right now?
Riddle: Why not? The library is a valuable spot for information, so you could always use as many reference books as you see fit. Besides, I’m pretty sure the second you step foot in your dorm, you’ll collapse onto your bed and leave your work unfinished until the last minute.
Majid: …Are you sure we haven’t met before?
Riddle: *sighs* I was just generalizing based on what I’ve seen some of your peers do… Don’t tell me that the rest of the underclassmen are this prone to procrastination too… *rustle* Here. Start with question 1.
Majid: Fine, fine. *scribble* *scribble*
Riddle: …
Majid: *scribble* *scribble*
Riddle: Ah, that’s wrong.
Majid: Excuse me?
Riddle: That step you took right there. You forgot to distribute the negative sign to both variables.
Majid: Right… okay. Thanks.
Riddle: And on number 3, you graphed the wrong system of equations. A slope of 3/4 should be less steeper than that.
Majid: Gotcha.
Riddle: And number 2-
Majid: OKAY, okay! I get it! I did everything wrong! I’ll just erase all my answers, okay?! Jeez, you lecture as much as Jamil…
Riddle: This won’t do… At this rate… Alright.
Majid: And why are you sitting across from me now?
Riddle: It seemed like you were struggling on your own. And I have a few minutes of free time. Don’t worry; I’m at the top of my class in all of my subjects. Teaching algebra is hardly a daunting task.
Majid: But I don’t need any help. And should you really be letting your guard down to tutor someone from another dorm? Scarabia’s test scores are known for rivaling Octavinelle’s, y’know?
Riddle: Well, judging from how you answered those questions, it would be foolish to consider you a threat in the first place. Besides, what’s the point of defeating an opponent if they’re not at their best? Just consider this as a kind offer from your upperclassman to unlock your full potential.
Majid: …I can’t help but feel like I was insulted multiple times in those first two sentences, but thank you.
Riddle: Of course. I’ll do everything in my power to make sure you don’t tarnish this school’s good name.
***
[Location: NRC Library (Late Afternoon)]
Riddle: TCH. I ALREADY TOLD YOU THAT YOU HAD TO DO THE MULTIPLICATION SECTION FIRST, AND THEN YOU CAN ADD LIKE TERMS.
Majid: …
Riddle: AND HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO REPEAT THIS FORMULA TO YOU??? IT’S SO SIMPLE. EVEN A JUNIOR HIGH STUDENT COULD HAVE MEMORIZED THIS THE FIRST TIME IT’S TAUGHT TO THEM .
Majid: …….
Riddle: Ah… No, wait… I apologize. I didn’t mean to raise my voice… *sighs* But Majid, it’s been well over an hour now, and we’re not even halfway through your homework. Are you sure you’ve been taking this serio-
Majid: OF COURSE I’VE BEEN TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY!
Riddle: !!!!!
Majid: The teachers, hell, even my own classmates always end up asking me that same question! “If only you put a bit more effort into your studying”,; “You have a lot of potential… if only you could put a little more effort too”! As if I didn’t spend a ton of time already on my homework!! I had a shitty education when I was younger and sometimes I fall asleep in class, so I get that I won’t be as smart as everyone else, but…
Riddle: Majid…
Majid: I thought that I at least had the basics down… I guess no matter how hard I try, it’ll never be enough, huh?
Riddle: That’s not true.
Majid: Are you-
Riddle: I’m not lying to you. We can set aside your homework for now, but in the meantime, let me help you plan out some personalized study techniques. I can’t guarantee you’ll be in the top percentage of your class, but I can definitely save you from hearing those hateful words ever again. We’ll make sure your efforts don’t go to waste.
Majid: Aah… Thank you… Seriously, thank you so much…sir.
Riddle: Heh. Don’t worry about it. This is just another part of my duty as a fellow student of Night Raven College. Also make sure not to yell like that in the library ever again.
Majid: But weren’t you also just… Never mind, I understand.
Riddle: Good.
one.
Jisung gives his desk a harsh kick, one that does no good in releasing his inner storm, only to wince in pain later because he’s an idiot.
Classes have been somewhat less than boring these days, partially because his mind is occupied with thoughts of you half of the time and partially because…well, more thoughts of you. Oh wait, today is a little different than usual considering the fact that you did not give him a proper response.
To what?
Putting it simply, he woke up early this morning to go over his routine more thoroughly—styling his hair, making sure that his tie isn’t sloppy-looking, and spraying himself with his brother’s cologne. He doesn’t usually care for any one of those things until junior starts and you show up. Call him desperate, or delusional, or childish even but it truly felt like fate when you two first encountered each other.
“Yeah right, fate,” Hyunjin snickers loudly, swirling a strawberry-flavored lollipop inside his mouth. “You meant when you fell on your ass on the bus the other day and you accidentally grabbed her collar?”
Jisung feels his cheeks heat up thanks to his friend’s less than necessary comment. “Shut the fuck up, you’re just jealous.” It was great. Not only did he fall head over heels for you, but he also left a bad impression.
Back to the point. All of his hard work this morning is reduced to nothing because of the rain. His hair is messed up, his uniform looks sloppy, and his shoes are covered in mud from skipping through puddles. Not to mention, he showed up timely enough to be there when you opened your locker, having various candies and sweets poured down your head, scattered all over the hallway.
Yeji should have told him you didn’t like sweet things yesterday, damn it. Because he’s never seen you giving him that look before. The look that makes him believe you will make him experience torment and pain, begging for the mercy that never comes—make his life a living hell basically.
“How did your plan go, by the way?” His friend asks out of boredom.
“Fantastic,” he replies under his breath when everything is, in fact, not fantastic.
Hyunjin tilts his head. “Did she know?”
“Know what? That I’m in love with her? I mean I wasn’t trying to be subtle or anything-“
“No, did she know that it was gonna rain today?”
Shrugging, he closes his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose in exhaustion; forty-five minutes periods should be illegal. “Why does that matter?”
“Hey, Han!”
Jisung turns his head to the voice and sees Felix sliding the door to his classroom open, uneven breaths as if he’s been running for his life while holding two umbrellas in his arms. He glances at his friend’s state with a grimace, head cocked to the side in confusion. Luckily, no one really spends recess in class except for loners like himself anyway. “What are you doing?”
“Y/N didn’t bring an umbrella!” The freckled boy exclaims with excitement, only able to coax an amused hum from Hyunjin. “But you have an umbrella, and it’s still raining! Which means…?”
A comical silence falls upon the three of them. It takes Jisung approximately five taps of Hyunjin’s finger on the table to fully process his friend’s point. Realization lights up in his eyes like a candle but dies down with a pout on his face. “But she can just go with her friends?” he says with expressive hands, though a little disappointed.
“I’m not gonna half-ass it if I plan on helping you,” Felix gives the two umbrellas, a white one and a pink one, in his hands a slight jerk, looking oddly proud.
This time, Jisung catches on immediately; his eyes go wide in shock as though his friend has committed the greatest sin. “Yeji and Lia are so gonna kill you.”
Tumblr media
two.
“Did you bring an umbrella?” Lia asks while hopeless rummaging through her stuff. “I swear with my own eyes I saw myself putting one in my bag this morning.”
Yeji shakes her head in defeat, tugging at the straps of her backpack. “I was pretty sure I brought one too. I even used it to walk to the bus stop this morning! Someone must have taken it during recess,” she sighs, dreading the pouring rain and grey clouds.
It’s raining again. It’s only been raining today, the weather forecast did predict that it’s most likely going to last for a whole week too (not that you bothered checking). You don’t mind the rain, though. You like the fact that they make the world appear mistier, hazier like a fever dream.
What isn’t good about the rain is the fact that your parents won’t be too happy to see you come home looking like a wet rat. Or the fact that you’ll probably get a really bad cold, and that won’t be pretty during midterms week. Or the fact that most students are absolute idiots and didn’t bring their own umbrellas either. Everyone is shoving each other for space under the canopy at the main gate so the rain won’t soak their clothes.
You’re not having it. At all.
“Yeji, Lia. I’m going home,” you purse your lips together and take a breath.
Lia frowns at your particular solution. “Already? But you’re gonna get wet.”
“My house is a ten-minute walk away. Shouldn’t be too bad,” you say lowly in faint annoyance, eyes squinted from the discomfort of lack of space; these students have no manners whatsoever, you’re getting claustrophobic.
With a determined huff, you pull the zipper of your jacket up and throw the hood over your hair. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
Shadow suddenly looms over the top of your head, warmth radiates to your clothed arm. In the corner of your eyes, a familiar face comes into view and forces a heavy exhale from your lips.
“Hey, do you wanna go with-“ Jisung pauses midway when you take off running, shattering his fantasy of living in a drama into bits without mercy. “Y/N! Wait up!”
Tumblr media
three.
“Come here! Or you’ll get sick!”
“Why the hell do you care?”
“Y/N, stop being so stubborn! You’re gonna catch a cold!”
“It’s none of your business.”
After walking down several blocks down the road, past nothing but empty plazas and mostly closed café, you even take an extra U-turn, going through a skeptical alley just so Jisung will get tired and stop following you. Your effort doesn’t not prevail so you give up eventually, deciding to take the proper turn to head home before it’s too late to prepare dinner.
The poor boy can feel the rain drizzle down his black umbrella before falling onto his windbreaker, soaking through the fabric to stain his senses with a chilling sensation. He has already calmed every racing thought that ceases to ease his erratic heartbeat but no matter how hard he tries, there isn’t one second where he isn’t thinking about your well-being.
“Hey,” he calls out; when you turn around, he’s closing his umbrella and tossing it to the ground, leaving it to graze the tip of your shoes. “Take it and go home. I won’t bother you anymore.”
You roll your eyes before picking it up, mercilessly letting it flop right in front of him. “I don’t need it.”
Jisung clicks his tongue in irritation, not caring that droplets are falling from his head and his skin is crawling from the cold. Somehow, he’s starting to become baffled for no reason. Perhaps it’s because of your nonchalance about the current situation; you shouldn’t be so apathetic when he’s genuinely worried sick for your health.
His eyes are heavy with rain droplets so he blinks them away before glaring at you slightly. “You need it more than I do. Would you please stop acting irrationally, take the umbrella and head home? The rain isn’t stopping anytime soon.” His leg jerks up to kick at the innocent object; still isn’t enough to relish the turmoil hurling his innards.
He brushes past you, shoving your shoulder a little while expecting you to finally accept his offer. To his dismay, you once again grab at the poor, poor umbrella, and throw it at his leg with more force this time. When it drops to the ground with a small thud, his heart pauses awkwardly in disappointment.
The sun is going down by the second but you can still see the faint outline of his scowl. “Go home, Jisung. It’s getting late,” you remark coldly, stuffing your freezing hands into your pocket.
With a loud groan, he marches back to where you two were originally standing, a curse word lingers on the tip of his tongue. But he manages to swallow it back down before gently tugging at the sleeve of your jacket. “Take the umbrella at least,” he voices softly, the crack more evident than anything at the end. “Look, I know I’ve been nothing but a nuisance since we first met. I just really like you and I care for you okay? Go home, Y/N.”
“Please.”
You look at him after moments, your once hateful eyes finally glinting with something else other than general distaste and annoyance. It only takes one glance of his tired eyes to pierce through your phlegmatic front, leaving your raw emotions out in the open. Before Jisung can say another word or take notice of the rare warmth creeping in your gaze, you take his hand in yours and pull him toward a nearby apartment complex to not wait out in the downpour any longer. By the time that you’ve released the grip, he’s still staring into the nothingness, eyes slightly wide in shock.
“What are you doing? Aren’t you gonna go home?” he blurts out finally after snapping out of it.
“This is my apartment complex. But I must have dropped my card somewhere. So I can’t go inside.”
A sigh. “Is anyone home right now?”
“My phone is dead.”
Jisung perks up and his hand fishes inside his pocket. “You can use-”
You inhale deeply, looking away. “Enough is enough, Jisung. Go home.”
“You broke my umbrella,” he mentions, blinking rapidly to bat the droplets away from his eyelashes. “I can’t go home like this.”
Few beats of silence later, a middle-aged woman dressed in a beige trench coat walks past the both of you, two high school students pathetically standing under the canopy like wet rats; she swipes her card against the security lock and the glass door pops open without much effort. Sparing you the last look, she’s probably thinking ‘kids these days’ before heading inside with a roll of her eyes.
Jisung hurriedly skips over to hold the door open for you, motions for you to walk in with his head. To his surprise, you comply but bring your steps to a halt to situate yourself in front of him. His lashes are wet and heavy; that’s when you realize how soaked you both are and how terribly cold the temperature it’s getting. Your hand reaches out to brush the raindrops away softly, shaking his heart to the core.
The silence is graceful in the wake of the moment, the rain in the background just makes everything that much more cinematic. However, Jisung isn’t in the right mind state to fanboy over the fact that his drama fantasy is one step closer to reality. He wishes to cling to this moment forever because he just can’t get enough. He can never.
“I’ll get you a towel,” you pull away calmly, thinking how cute he sort of looks when his cheeks are three shades redder. “And a new umbrella.”
His smile has never been brighter, you notice. Even when he’s out in the brutal cold and completely drenched from head to toe. And wait...have his eyes always been so pretty?
I1+Nalu Only one bed @thegalilea3 request
The wedding of Laxus and Mirajane Dreyar was a cozy affair attended by only close family and friends. Neither had really wanted a lavish event, so a simple morning ceremony and luncheon in a beautiful garden was perfect. The bride and groom instead funneled the majority of their budget into food, drinks, and overnight lodging for the guests at a small nearby hotel. Lucy Heartfilia was happy to see her friend finally married and settled because Mira deserved it.
Though there was one odd thing about the luncheon— assigned seating. With only 21 people including the bride and groom, it seemed unnecessary. Plus, everyone except Lucy and one other person were a couple anyways. Maybe it was to ensure everyone was accounted for, only Mira knew. As it was, it also meant Lucy was sat next to the only other single... Natsu Dragneel. It was a bit weird, but not a big deal. Natsu was her close friend after all.
The day was perfect in every regard. Clear skies, light breeze with warm sunshine, great food, and jovial company. It was a nice reprieve from Lucy’s job in the city. She missed spending time with her friends, especially Natsu and this provided a perfect couple of days to relax in the countryside. They were best friends, her unrequited high school crush until adulthood sent them onto different paths. University, then careers. The pair stayed in touch as often as possible, but both were busy in their endeavors.
“How has it been at the magazine,” Natsu questioned Lucy. “I see you’ve made it to junior editor.”
“Oh,” she laughed, “yeah, but it’s still a glorified title. I’m really just my bosses assistant.”
“It’s still a big step,” he smiled back.
“What about you?”
“They’re sending me to EMT training next month. So, I’ll be a specialized firefighter.”
“That sounds exciting.”
“I guess,” Natsu shrugged, “I prefer the action.”
Lucy chuckled, eyes crinkling in a smile, “same ‘ole Natsu.”
“Hey you two,” Mirajane waved as she walked over. “How is everything?”
“Hi Mira! Everything is perfect, you did a fantastic job planning it.”
“Aww, thanks Lucy.”
“I was surprised that Laxus finally caved.”
Lucy slapped Natsu’s chest for the comment, but if only made Mira laugh.
“I threatened to leave if he didn’t just get this over with. Anyway, the reason I came over is I just received a call from the hotel and it seems they made a mistake in my booking. Instead of 11 rooms, they only booked 10. Unfortunately... they’re also full.”
“So, what does that mean?” Natsu questioned the woman.
“Well, as singles I had booked you guys your own rooms, because the couples have theirs, which means one of you now doesn’t have one.”
“Oh. It’s okay Mira, I can try and find a room elsewhere for the night,” Lucy chimed in. “Don’t worry about it, it wasn’t your fault.”
“Why don’t we just share it?” Natsu then suggests to Lucy. “When we check in, we’ll just ask for a room with two beds.”
“Are you sure,” both Lucy and Mira questioned at the same time.
“Why not? I mean, I don’t mind.”
“Lucy would you be okay with that?” Mira questioned her friend. “I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.”
Lucy looked at Natsu, then back to Mira. “I’ll be okay. I mean, he’s not a stranger to me.” She laughed although inside she was a bit nervous about sharing a room with him.
“I won’t bite,” Natsu put his hands up in defense. “I swear.”
“Weirdo!” Lucy laughed.
Mira laughed as well. “Great! I’ll let the hotel know the room will be a double occupancy. You guys enjoy the rest of party. Check in is anytime after 4pm.”
“Thanks Mira. And congratulations again!”
Everything will be fine, Lucy assured herself. It’s just Natsu. She knows Natsu. He’s harmless. Spending one night alone together won’t kill her. Just think of it as more time to catch up. Maybe find out why he’s still single. ‘Stop that!’ Lucy chided her mind. She is not asking him that kind of question! Even though she is curious... more so now after having spent the last 4 hours being reminded of what a great guy he was. All the reason she’d crushed on him, his warmth, oof, his smile...
“Wait what?!” Lucy shrieked at the hotel receptionist. “There’s no rooms with two beds?”
“I’m very sorry ma’am, but we only have a few of those and they’re all taken already.”
“What about a roll-away?”
Again the woman shook her head. “We’re just a small country inn. We don’t have those.”
“Oh... my god...” Lucy breathed out. She’d have to share a bed with Natsu?!
Speaking of the man, at that moment, he gently coaxed Lucy away from the receptionist. “We’ll make it work, don’t worry, she’ll be fine,” he assured the woman. “Just give us the keys and we’ll be on our way.”
Once inside of the hotel room, Lucy surveyed their predicament. It was a king sized bed. Great, at least it provided a decent amount of space between them, and it was a very nice room... a bit too nice compared to a standard hotel room. Strange, but maybe it was the only option left because of the full capacity. Well, guess it wasn’t such a bad thing. She could think of it as a sleepover, like the kind they would have when they were teenagers.
The first thing Lucy did was change out of her formal party attire into something comfortable. When she exited the bathroom, Natsu was lounging on the bed, looking through the pamphlets the hotel left on the nightstand.
“What’re you reading?” She questioned him.
“It’s a pretty small hotel, no services, but they do have a restaurant open for lunch and dinner... oh and a pool.”
Lucy hadn’t brought a swim suit, so the pool was out of the question. “What time is the restaurant open till?”
“Um... 9pm.”
“Good. I’m not hungry yet, but in a couple of hours I will be.”
For the rest of the evening Natsu was weirdly quiet. He talked as needed, but it almost felt to Lucy as if he was trying to avoid something. Or maybe it was all in her head. Maybe Natsu was just as nervous as she was about arraignment and was doing his best not to make it uncomfortable. Their conversations were pleasant enough, catching up on their lives, their families, any new interests they may have developed. They’d become functional members of the community in careers they enjoyed. For all intents and purposes, their lives were normal, happy on the surface.
Around 11pm the pair agreed it was time to get some shut eye. It had been a long and contented day, but tomorrow they’d return to their own lives. They chose their respective sides, turning off the light and settled into bed facing away from each other.
As Lucy lay there, she reflected on how things had turned out and of their day. The thoughts in her mind loud against the silence of the darkened room. It felt weird, knowing Natsu lay less then two feet away. Or maybe it was simply weird sleeping in a bed with another person. It had been a couple years since her last failed relationship, so she wasn’t used to this feeling anymore. She didn’t know how many minutes had passed by when she’d heard Natsu shift in the bed and his voice, soft and hesitant cut through the inky blackness.
“Do you ever think about... us Lucy?”
What does he mean? “Us?” She parroted.
“I do sometimes,” Natsu continued. “I think about, what our lives would be like if I’d grown some balls and asked you out years ago... where would we be today?”
Lucy’s breathing slowed as she processed his words. Had she thought of it? Moisture slowly filled her eyes. Yes— yes she had, many, many times over the years. Every time a relationship failed, she thought about it. But she never blamed him because she was just as guilty for not saying something sooner. Yet here he was posing such a question.
Her eyes closed as she spoke. “What are you trying to say Natsu?” She felt him turn over and shift again, then a hand pulling, coaxing her to face him. Once she’d switched sides, Lucy could see his shadowed face, oozing with regret.
“I’m saying...” Natsu reached out and took her hand. “I wish we were an us. I’m saying I want to lay like this every night next to you, to wake up beside you, come home to you. Im saying... I don’t want this to end.”
Lucy squeezed his hand back. “Idiot!” Tears prickling the corners of her eyes. “Why didn’t you say something sooner!”
“I was afraid! Okay?! I thought you deserved better than me and I’d just hold you back!”
“Better?! It was always better together! All these years I’d been lonely and miserable cause no one could replace you!”
“I’m sorry!!”
A few seconds after the last words are screamed, laughter broke out from the two. Unrefined laughter at their own stupidity. They’d both been pining all these years and it took being stuck in a room together for it all to come crashing out.
“Natsu...” Lucy squeezed his hand again, “I’d really love to be an us too.”
He reached over and caressed her face. “I’ve always loved you Lucy, and I wanna make up for all the years we lost. But I have a confession to make.”
Oh, god what the hell now?! “What are you, actually married? No, divorced? Secret kids?! What?!” Lucy trembled as her euphoria threatened to crash down again.
Natsu scratched the back of his head nervously. “No! Nothing like that. The hotel didn’t make a mistake. Mira and I set this up so I could confess. I’d planned to do it earlier but couldn’t work up the nerve until I realized I was running out of time again...”
“Ohhh! Is that it?!” Lucy’s head lolled as she groaned. “You damn goof! You almost gave me a heart attack!”
“Im sorry!” He chuckled. “I just didn’t want you to find out later. And don’t blame Mira, it was my idea. I’ll make it all up, I promise. I’ll make you forget about those years of loneliness. I’m gonna make you so happy you—”
Lucy sighed. “Natsu?”
“Huh, yeah?”
“Just shut up and kiss me already.”
You never intended for the summer between your sophomore and junior years of college to be packed with hard work and stress. In fact, you thought that having a part-time job in a beach town would be quite the opposite. That it would be full of seasonal flings, sunburns, and plenty of time relaxing on the beach enjoying your sappy romance novels. Instead, your absolute bitch of a boss, Cindy, had you working 35 hours a week wiping tables and taking orders, sometimes even being a substitute bartender if it was a busy night. Luckily for you, your best friend Karina also decided to take the plunge into the world of summer waitressing with you, and the two of you had almost every shift together. But still, you would much rather be stretched out underneath the sun right now than punching your 100th order of the morning into the restaurant’s computer system. You sigh aloud at the thought of the salt water lapping at the shore, seagulls flapping around while the local surf rock station plays quietly on the radio in the sand next to you.
“Y/N!!” an obnoxious voice shouts, shaking you out of your seashore reverie. Your eyes refocus just in time to see Cindy storming towards you in anger, her eyes scrunched with a fury that only ever comes out when you’ve messed up. “You’ve been standing there for 2 minutes doing nothing,” she hisses through her teeth. “Pull yourself together. You only have a half hour left on your shift, and then you’re free to be as useless as you want.”
“Sorry,” you mumble under your breath, holding back a sarcastic retort to the last part of Cindy’s criticism. You punch the order into the system and sweep yourself back into the dining room to do rounds and check on the tables that you’ve already served food to.
---
True to her word, Cindy released you from hell 30 minutes later. As quickly as possible, you strip off your apron and change into one of your favorite blue bikinis in the employee bathroom, wanting to hit the beach as soon as possible. You find Karina waiting outside the restaurant in her white Jeep Wrangler, roof and doors removed for the warm summer weather. On the rare days when the two of you don’t share a shift, this is always your routine. Karina picks you up at the end of your 2 o’clock shift and drives the two of you to the beach where you spend the next four hours basking in the sun and body-boarding in the water.
Today is no different, and the two of you soon find yourselves spreading out your towels and slathering yourselves in sunscreen, preparing for an afternoon of the reason you truly came to the small beach town this summer: relaxing. After an hour or so of sunbathing and reading some rather spicy parts of your latest romance novel, you and Karina decide it’s time for a dip in the ocean. “Hey, Y/N, go check what the water temperature is so we can mentally prepare ourselves before turning into popsicles in the ocean,” Karina giggles, gesturing towards the nearest lifeguard stand. You nod in agreement and make your way over to the back of the tall white chair where information such as water temperature and high tide is usually posted. As you near the stand however, you notice that instead of temperatures and warnings, someone had written the words ‘Ask me!’ over the chalkboard.
You glance up at the lifeguard to try and catch their eye, but an umbrella has been propped sideways to block a northward wind, preventing you from being able to see the person sitting there. “Excuse me!” you shout, hand shielding your eyes from the sun as you make your way around to the front of the stand. “Is everything okay?” a gentle voice responds. The lifeguard, a rather lanky, handsome man with black hair brushing the top of his ears, leans over. “Everything’s fine,” you respond with a timid smile. “I was just wondering what the water temperature is?”
The man’s form visibly relaxes as he realizes that there was no emergency and you just wanted some information. “Oh! Yeah, the temperature is 67°,” the lifeguard responds.
“Okay, thank you!” you shout, turning away to walk back to where Karina was waiting.
“Wait! Are you planning on boarding at all?” he asks, forcing you to turn around. He glances over at Karina and the boogie boards lying on the sand next to her while she watches us.
“Um, yeah. Is that okay?” you respond, placing your hands on your hips.
“Of course, of course! You should just know that there’s some serious undertow and a pretty strong rip current in this area today. If you get pulled out just swim parallel to the beach to get back in or signal if you need help,” he smiles helpfully.
“Oh. Thanks, but I think I’ll be okay,” you nod. “I’ve been coming to this beach and boarding since I was a little kid.”
The lifeguard just shrugs and sits down, but you can feel his eyes on you and Karina as the two of you grab your boards and dive into the frigid waves. Unfortunately for you, the lifeguard was quite right about the strong currents, and you spent half of your time in the water struggling to not be dragged down the entire length of the beach. After about a half hour of unsuccessfully attempting to catch some waves, Karina sighs and starts to swim in. “Maybe tomorrow will be better conditions. Neither of us are working so we can be out here all day if you want,” she exclaims, always the optimist. “Ok,” you reply. “I’m going to stay out here a little longer and then head in. Do you mind taking my board?”
You un-velcro the strap from your wrist and push the board towards Karina for her to drag it onto the sand. As soon as you let go of the board, you begin to realize just how much you were relying on it to keep you afloat in the strong current, especially considering you aren’t in an area where you can touch the bottom. After just a couple of minutes of treading water, you decide to follow Karina’s idea and begin to swim towards the shore. Karina sees you making her way towards her, but she waves her hands and shouts, pointing to the ocean behind you. A quick glance tells you that there’s a massive wave just seconds away from crashing on your head. “Shit,”  you curse, turning around and bracing yourself to be pommeled. Had you been farther out, you might have been given the chance to dive under the wave as it crested, but you were in the exact area that, when the wave finally arrived, the only thing you could do was take a deep breath and hope for the best.
As the wave crashes around you and catches you in it’s white waters, you tuck your knees into your chest, feeling yourself bounce around, your shins catching the sharp shells and rocks being thrown around you. After what feels like forever, you finally resurface, gasping for breath and a little red-faced from the embarrassment of wiping out, but still alive. And yet, something felt weird. As you catalogue your surroundings, you notice that you are farther from the shore than you were when you went under. Much farther. You try to plant your feet on the sand beneath you, but instead begin to sink below the surface. Having been tired out from fighting the waves for the past hour, you begin to panic, forgetting everything that the lifeguard had just told you about swimming out of rip currents.
In your own panicking and splashing around, you fail to notice someone swimming towards you. Someone wearing red swimming trunks with a bright orange buoy tied around their waist. When the lifeguard finally reaches you, he grabs your wrist to place your hand on the float, causing you to scream out in surprise, still not realizing that someone was there to save you.
“Shhh, shhhh calm down it’s okay,” the lifeguard says, reaching for your hand again. “I’m here to help, you’re gonna be okay.”
You try your hardest to hold in your tears as you grip onto the lifeguard’s buoy, but you feel like you can barely breath from the panic that you just experienced. You squeeze the orange plastic so tightly that your knuckles turn white, something that the lifeguard is quick to notice. “You’re going to be okay,” he once again reassures you. “What’s your name?” he asks in a soothing voice.
After a few deep gasps, you’re able to get out, “Y/N.”
The man smiles. “Hi, Y/N. I’m Johnny. I’m going to get you back to solid ground, okay? But I’m going to need you to stay calm for me, okay? Or else it’s going to be a lot harder for me.”
Unable to respond, you just rapidly shake your head, eager to have your feet touching the earth again. Johnny places one of his hands on the other side of the buoy, and uses his right arm to begin towing you back towards the shore. In no time, the water grows lighter as you and Johnny cut through the water, eventually reaching an area where you can once again stand. “Are you okay?” he asks, turning towards you with a worried sound to his voice. You once again nod, embarrassed to meet his eyes and not trusting your voice to be stable if you spoke.
Johnny gives you a once over, his eyes lingering on your knee. You follow his gaze and notice that during the wave, a shell must have gashed your leg open, and a steady flow of blood is now streaming through the cut on your knee. “Why don’t you come up to my stand and let me check that out?” Johnny asks, although it comes out as more of a command. “O-Okay,” you whisper. He places a steadying hand on your back and guides you up the sand to where Karina is waiting for you. “Oh. My. God,” Karina shrieks, seeing the injury on your leg. “She’ll be fine,” Johnny comments to her. “I just want to clean and bandage the cut to make sure that it doesn’t get infected.”
He guides you to sit down on a foldable chair at the base of the lifeguard stand while he climbs up to get a medical kit. “This might sting a bit,” Johnny apologizes in advance, opening the bag to pull out an alcohol wipe. “It’s okay, I can handle it,” you grimace.
“Just like you said you can handle the ocean?” Johnny asks, looking up with a small grin. “Sorry, too soon.”
“For your information,” you begin. “I would ordinarily be able to deal with that wave, no problem. I just wasn’t ready.”
“Mm-hm. I’m sure,” Johnny nods sarcastically.
“Hey,” you frown. “You don’t know me well enough to be making fun of me- HOLY SHIT THAT HURTS!”
You glance down to see Johnny dabbing at the wound on your leg with the cleansing cloth. “Sorry,” he grimaces. “I did try to warn you.”
Johnny goes to wipe at the cut again, another wave of pain rolling over you. You involuntarily reach out to squeeze the closest thing, which happens to be Johnny’s bare back as he’s bent over your knee. “Jesus, woman,” Johnny swears, pulling away as your nails dig into his skin in pain. Your hands shoot up to cover your mouth. “I’m so sorry!” you squeak. He sucks air in quickly through his teeth as he glances over his shoulder to look at the scratches you left on him. “I normally have to buy someone a few drinks before I get them to mark me like that,” he chuckles, turning his attention back to your leg, which he begins to cover with a bandage.
Your cheeks color a bright red at the suggestive comment, although luckily Johnny doesn’t glance up at that moment to see your embarrassment.
“There. All done,” Johnny says, gently patting your knee and standing up. “The next time I tell you to watch out for the rip, listen to me,” he orders, raising an eyebrow at me. “Yessir,” you say seriously, giving him a sarcastic little salute. Johnny’s grins. “I’ll see you around, Y/N.”
“See you around, Johnny,” you respond, slowly limping your way back to Karina.
