William Afton with a reader who has sensory issues specifically surrounding touch, Usually, things are fine, they know what to do to be comfortable, and everything is great. However, sometimes late at night, being more tired makes the sensory things worse, which makes it hard to sleep, which…. You see the problem.
How does he handle it the first time, when their sobbing catches him completely off-guard, and what does he do to prepare in the future?
(I love your work sososo much)
At first, William isn’t… prepared for this. He’s an observant man, absolutely. But for someone whose own life has been ruled by control, precision, and shielding emotion behind charisma or intellect, raw sensory overload-induced distress feels like unfamiliar terrain.
The First Time:
It probably happens late—close to 1AM. The room is still. He’s focused on scribbling in a notebook or rechecking some prototype data while you’re curled up in bed nearby, and then… a sound.
It’s quiet at first. A shuddered breath. Maybe he thinks you’re just sighing from a dream—until it repeats. Shakier. Wetter. Sobbing.
His body stills like he’s been shot.
Not because he’s cold or unsure how to comfort—no, but because he wasn’t expecting this from you. You, the one who always tries so hard to seem in control. The one who manages your sensitivity so well.
He turns slowly, and there you are. Curled inward like you’re trying to hide from your own skin. Maybe you’re rocking a little, or your hands are twitching from having rubbed them too much, or you’ve tucked yourself under too many blankets that now feel too heavy—too loud.
He doesn't speak right away. He knows better than to crowd you with words.
Instead… he kneels beside the bed. Doesn’t touch. Just sets his hand, palm up, beside yours on the mattress. An offering. A bridge, not a demand.
When you whisper that everything feels too much, that you’re so tired but can’t sleep, that the air feels like static—he listens.
And he does not pity you.
He understands it like a system he will learn to decode, not because you owe him that, but because he wants to be better for you.
What He Does After:
William creates a small sensory-safe drawer beside your shared bed: noise-canceling headphones, soft-textured fabric swatches, a dim red light bulb, a note with soothing breathing patterns (handwritten, of course), and a small rabbit plush he modified to include a gentle white-noise hum when squeezed.
He adjusts the lab's lighting or room temperature before you even ask. He tracks how your body reacts better in dimmer lighting or specific fabrics and silently adapts—switching his shirt to something softer if he wants to be near you.
He never, ever gets frustrated if you flinch. If you need to roll away. If his hand is too much. If tonight just isn’t the night.
He simply stays close. He becomes a constant in your storm, even when the storm is silent, internal, and invisible. And he always, always, waits for you to initiate touch first.
🕯️ Bonus Scenario (First Time – a midnight moment):
You didn’t mean to wake him.
You thought you were quiet. Just a few trembling exhales, a press of your fingers to your temple, trying to press out the electric weight crawling beneath your skin. The sheets were too loud. The air was too sharp. And you couldn’t even cry properly—not without it stinging.
And then—
“...darling?”
William’s voice, sleep-rough, velvet and unsure, from just behind you. You hadn’t realized he’d turned toward you until his hand lifted from the blanket, hovering midair.
“I can’t sleep,” you croaked, “It feels wrong, all of it. My skin—my brain won’t—won’t stop—”
You didn’t mean to sob, but it broke through anyway.
William’s brows furrowed, not in irritation, but in something unreadable—concern veiled behind calculation.
He said nothing.
Instead, he sat up slowly. Switched off the bedside lamp with a quiet click. The room went to soft darkness.
Then came the gentlest thing you never expected:
A cool, neatly folded handkerchief brushed the space beside your pillow, followed by a small, clean-glass jar placed beside it. Inside: calming balm with a scent you once said grounded you.
You turned slightly, still teary, and found him sitting cross-legged at the foot of the bed. Not touching. Just watching. Quiet. Still. Safe.
“I didn’t know,” he said, his voice as soft as you’d ever heard it. “But I do now. And I’ll remember.”
He doesn’t say “I’m sorry.” He doesn’t coo or overreact. He simply makes a promise with his presence:
He’s staying.

Vampire Matty fluff idea…so once he’s told her he’s a vampire and the two of them talk about it more openly, it kind of dawns on her (lol) that he hasn’t been in the sun for years and years. And she’s like “do you miss it?” And Matty doesn’t want to upset her, but yeah, he kind of does sometimes. So then she comes up with some way to try and “recreate” being out in the sun for him and it’s so cuuuuute
this made me so emo, bless him. i've no idea how you would do it, but i think you'd have him close his eyes while you turn the dimmer switch up to full brightness on the bedroom light, and open a window to let the sounds of summer float into the room, and honestly just hold your boyfriend so he feels some warmth - maybe also buy him a SAD lamp lol. i also think you'd wake him up early one summer morning to let him see the way the sun hits off the curtains, and to hear the birds chirping and feel the warmth of the day without even leaving bed; he's SO touched by this, because he can recall his human memories of waking up to the exact same thing, can remember walking to school in the sunshine and being able to taste and smell summer and bask in the sun. but, to be honest, even seeing you in the sunlight is enough for him - you curl up on the sofa in patches of sunlight like a little cat, soaking up that inimitable warmth, letting the sun highlight hidden tones in your hair and make your skin glow, and he loves hugging you tight after you've sunbathed so he can feel some of that warmth for himself. sweet boy <3

POLAROID
I sit in the crowded room only half listening
to the girl reading fragments of her life
from notebooks clutched in hands that
do not dare to admit they tremble.
My mind running away with itself,
a dandelion seed on the wind,
as is its wont as of late.
I feel rude, not giving away my full attention -
as if I have something better to do
or somewhere else to be.
But then I forget what impertinence can look like,
too at home with my own arrogance;
I am no sticky handed child touching things she ought not
to be handling, therefore I am blameless,
no - I am too busy
playing with the yellow reflection of the light
in my phone's dark screen;
my fingers dancing in the blind spot
where my optic nerve and the back
of my left eyeball meet.
My eyes are a Polaroid camera,
and every picture is out of focus.
I stare into the wall sconce lights of the bar,
marvel at the shifting Rorschach pictures
that emblazon themselves into my eyelids
in silence
when I blink.
Shifting shadows undulating like waves
in the breakwater.
I listen to the saxophone playing itself out
on a loop in the background.
I take in people's faces, see eyes
in various shades that are neither looking at me,
or for me.
Watch faces masquerade as solar prominences;
in the same instance I am reminded
that time is both infinite and limited,
much like the human mind,
or mine at least.
And I keep track of the seconds and minutes
by counting each pulse through my neck -
I can't hear my heart beat over the pounding
of the blood;
I do not think they are exactly
the same thing so do not
try to tell me
that they are.
A jolt of life, a red sine wave through carotid and jugular,
versus the soft blue hum of electricity - a bedside lamp
with the dimmer switch as low as it can go.
And days later,
under the fading light of a solstice sun,
the sky cracked open,
blood pouring from the wounds,
I count myself lucky.
That I am seen in both my light and darkness
and not just when each is absent from the other.
That I currently live in grey shadow,
perpetual potential,
just a few hard shakes away from a final form -
or so you might think.
Shield me from that which caused me to be,
so that I might actually become what is meant for me:
spectrum, not only of light and dark,
but full of colour.

Creating a Sensory-Friendly Space for Neurodivergent Minds
For many neurodivergent individuals, sensory processing can make daily life a bit more challenging. Certain lights, textures, and sounds that others might not even notice can become overwhelming. But creating a sensory-friendly space at home can help mitigate these challenges and provide a much-needed sanctuary.
Here are some tips to get started:
1️⃣ Soft Lighting: Harsh, bright lights can be too much for many neurodivergent people. Consider using lamps with soft, warm light bulbs, or install dimmer switches to control the intensity. Fairy lights can also add a calming, cozy ambiance.
2️⃣ Comforting Textures: Incorporating a variety of textures, such as soft blankets, plush pillows, and fuzzy rugs, can create a comforting and grounding environment. Pay attention to the fabrics you choose for furniture and bedding, aiming for materials that feel good to the touch.
3️⃣ Noise Reduction Tools: For those sensitive to sound, noise-canceling headphones or white noise machines can be lifesavers. You can also consider adding thick curtains or rugs to help dampen sound and create a quieter space.Creating a sensory-friendly environment doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. Small changes can make a big difference in how comfortable and grounded you feel in your own space.

Fall Bedroom Makeover: A Step-by-Step Guide To Transforming Your Bedroom Into A Cozy Fall Haven
As the leaves change color and the air turns crisp, it's time to bring the cozy fall vibes into your bedroom. Creating a warm and inviting space where you can unwind and relax is essential during this season. In this blog post, we'll guide you through transforming your bedroom into a cozy enclave that will make you never want to leave. Get ready to embrace the fall season with open arms!
Choose Warm And Earthy Colors
To infuse your bedroom with the essence of fall, start by selecting warm and earthy colors. Opt for shades like deep reds, burnt oranges, warm browns, and mustard yellows. These colors will instantly create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Layer Up With Textiles
Fall is all about getting cozy, so layering your bed with plush blankets, soft duvets, and fluffy pillows is a must. Choose textiles in rich fabrics like velvet, faux fur, or chunky knits to add warmth and texture to your space. Remember to include a few decorative throw pillows for that extra touch of comfort.
Bring Nature Indoors
Embrace the beauty of the season by incorporating natural elements into your bedroom. Display a vase of dried flowers, arrange a few autumnal branches in a corner, or place a bowl of pinecones on your nightstand. These simple additions will bring a touch of nature and create a serene ambiance.
Set The Mood With Lighting
Lighting plays a crucial role in creating a cozy atmosphere. Opt for warm, soft lighting by using table lamps, string lights, or candles. Consider adding a dimmer switch to your primary light source to create a more intimate and relaxing ambiance. Remember to place a few scented candles around the room to fill the air with comforting fall fragrances.
Add Seasonal Decor
To truly embrace the fall season, incorporate seasonal decor into your bedroom. Hang a wreath on your door, place a pumpkin or two on your dresser, or drape fairy lights over a mirror. These small touches will instantly make your space feel festive and cozy.
Create A Reading Nook
Fall is the perfect time to curl up with a good book. Create a cozy reading nook in the corner of your bedroom by adding a comfortable chair or a chaise lounge. Enhance the space with a soft blanket, a side table for your hot beverage, and a bookshelf filled with your favorite reads. This little sanctuary will become your go-to spot for relaxation.
In Conclusion
By following these simple steps, you can transform your bedroom into a cozy enclave that exudes the warmth and comfort of fall. Embrace the season by incorporating warm colors, soft textiles, natural elements, and ambient lighting. Remember to add seasonal decor and create a reading nook for ultimate relaxation. With these tips, you'll have a bedroom perfect for snuggling up and enjoying the beauty of autumn.
Remember, fall is all about embracing coziness, so take the time to create a space that truly reflects your style and brings you joy. Happy nesting!

3. Light It Right: The Ultimate Space Enlarger
Lighting can make or break a room—especially a small one. Instead of one harsh overhead light:
✅ Layer lighting – Use table lamps, floor lamps, and wall sconces to create depth. ✅ Mirrors = Instant Space Upgrade – A large mirror opposite a window bounces natural light around the room. ✅ Smart lighting – Dimmer switches and warm LEDs make your modern minimalist living room feel cozy, not cold.
🔹 DIY Tip: Try string lights along a bookshelf or wall art for an inexpensive modern touch.

Cubicle // 8) All Night With Me
STORY PAGE
Word Count: 1975
Roni
I'll admit, I've had my fair share of men in my bed. Not a lot, I'm not a whore. But...enough. I have never asked a man to stay the night. I just couldn't let Harry go yet. And not just because of the sex, which, let me tell you, was extraordinary! Something about him just made me want to be with him as long as I could. The thought of him leaving tore me up inside. Still, part of me did not expect him to say yes. I honestly would not have blamed him if he took off. But he didn't. He stayed.
"You have an amazing mouth," he whispered as his lips grazed over mine, giving me chills.
"I could say the same about yours." I nibbled seductively on his bottom lip, wetting it with my tongue. His lips are truly the best I have ever kissed.
When I let go of his mouth, I stared into his sleepy green eyes, his eyelids heavy. He ran his hands down my back again as I traced his lips with my fingers. The corners slowly curled up to reveal his dimples and crinkles in the corners of his eyes. I couldn't help myself.
"Mr. Styles," I said. "I do believe our meeting was quite exceptional."
Harry began to chuckle. "Indeed, Ms. Graver."
"I hope our time together has proven my immense attraction to you."
"Yes, and I believe the feeling's mutual." Harry's smile disappeared then, but not the desire in his eyes. The looks he would give sometimes could drive me out of my mind.
After more kissing, a glass of water and a toilet break, I pulled down the duvet and sheets and we climbed into bed. I switched my lamp which has a dimmer to the lowest setting, giving the room a warm orange glow.
"I have a question for you," I stated in a quiet voice.
"Okay," Harry yawned. I could tell he was tired, and I'd let him go to sleep soon. But I was curious.
"Have you ever slept with someone from work before?"
Harry smirked. "Do you just mean from this job, or anywhere?"
"Anywhere," I replied apprehensively.
"No."
I let out a breath. "What about a date? Have you gone on a date with anyone you worked with?"
Harry seemed to consider the question for a moment. "Yes," he finally answered.
"Really?"
"In high school. My girlfriend and I worked at the same shop. For about two weeks."
"Oh," I laughed. "Two weeks?"
"Yes. I was dating this girl for a wee bit, and she needed a job, so I talked my boss into hiring her. But I decided to break up with her after a couple weeks, and she didn't want to work with me anymore, so she quit."
"Can't say I blame her," I scoffed. "You little bugger."
"I was sixteen!" he exclaimed, as though that was reason enough to excuse his behaviour.
"Like that was so long ago," I mocked.
"Shut up." Harry feigned being hurt as I poked him in his side.
Both of us now fighting fatigue, I turned off the lamp and snuggled under the covers. Harry again pulled me to him, and I laid my head on his chest, my arm around his torso. I could feel his breath tickle my hair as I gently drifted to sleep.
Harry
It's not uncommon that I wake up hard. Even in the middle of the night. Sometimes I'm too tired to care, and I just fall back to sleep and inevitably have a wet dream. Sometimes I can't get back to sleep so I have to rub myself off. This time I had a gorgeous woman lying next to me.
Roni had turned onto her side at some point, because I know she'd fallen asleep in my arms. But now she had her back to me, lying in a fetal position. I rolled over to spoon her, feeling my cock hit her ass. I wanted to fuck her so bad.
Her body shifted slightly at my touch as I rubbed my hand up and down her hip. Then I moved it to her belly, pulling her flush against me, so she had no choice but to feel my erection. I heard her sigh as I played with her nipple, pinching it between my index finger and thumb.
"I want you again, baby," I moaned into her ear.
"Yes," is all I heard her say.
I lifted her leg and ran my dick up and down her slit. Licking my fingers for extra lubrication, I touched her warm pussy.
"Mmm, Harry," she breathed.
To my surprise, Roni reached back and guided me inside her. Just as it had before, it felt incredible from the first thrust. I moved in and out, making sure she felt all of me. Slowly, teasing her a bit. Her breathing got louder until she started to pant. Then I began to move faster, grabbing hold of her hips and bucking against her ass. She called out to me and to God a couple times, but I was so fucking in the zone, I couldn't see straight.
She came much quicker than I thought she would. I wasn't finished yet. I slapped her ass and told her to roll over. Getting on all fours, she looked so fucking hot. I knelt behind her, hands on her hips again and pumped my cock into her pussy hard. She cried out, but not in pain. She felt so good, I had to slow down for a moment and catch my breath. I think the slow, steady rhythm is what drives her wild because she started yelling my name again. Reaching around, I flicked her clit with my middle finger.
"Harry!" she screamed. "Oh God! Oh fuck me, baby!"
I growled as I gladly fulfilled her request. I heard her come again (God damn, that woman), just as I did.
Trying to get our heart rates back to normal, we somehow found our original sleeping positions again, my arms around her. We didn't speak. No words were needed.
Saturday // Roni
I awoke before Harry. I'm not particularly a morning person, but I just couldn't sleep any longer knowing he was beside me. I just lied there for a while, watching his chest rise and fall. I knew he had to be exhausted after last night. The boy had stamina, I had to give him that. When he woke me up with his hard dick against my back, I can't really say I was surprised. But the fact that he made me come twice more has to make one wonder just how long he could go.
Deciding not to linger in bed anymore, I got up to shower, letting Harry sleep. Although my vagina was worn out, the rest of my body felt alive, knowing it had been touched my him.
As I stepped out of the shower and grabbed my towel, I noticed the faint aroma of coffee. Realising Harry must be up, I quickly dried off and returned to the bedroom. The bed was indeed empty, but it was also made. I smiled to myself as I picked out my clothes. After getting dressed and running a comb through my hair, I walked into the kitchen to see Harry in his jeans, messy hair and shirtless, cooking eggs.
"Good morning," he greeted me with his dimpled smile. "Um, you didn't seem to have any meat, but I added spinach to the eggs if that's okay."
"That's lovely," I said, only looking at him, not the eggs. "You're lovely."
I kissed him on the cheek and pulled out plates and forks. Then I retrieved my favourite mug from the cupboard and poured some of the coffee he had brewed.
"Um, do you want toast?" Harry asked as he shoveled a spatula full of eggs onto a plate and handed it to me.
"No, thank you, this is plenty."
Harry served his own plate, and we sat together at the kitchen table. As we chewed, we stared at each other with silly grins on our faces. Mine particularly from seeing him cooking me breakfast shirtless and not hurrying home, and his most likely due to the sex. I didn't mind either way. But something was different about this boy.
"Harry," I finally spoke as I laid down my fork.
"Yeah?"
"You're not like other guys your age, are you?"
Harry shrugged. "I dunno."
"I mean, I didn't know any boys like you when I was nineteen. Hell, I don't know too many guys like you now, but definitely not then."
"Hmm."
I squinted my eyes, as though that would help me see inside his brain. "You're a mystery, Mr. Styles."
"Not really," he smirked.
I looked down at my plate. "I've never had a man cook me breakfast before."
There was an awkward silence until Harry spoke. "You're joking."
I lifted my head. "Why is that hard to believe?"
Harry widened his eyes and glared at me. "Have you..." he began, then darted his eyes around the room. "Do you have a mirror around here? Have you seen yourself?"
I giggled as I covered my mouth with a napkin.
"Roni, you are the most beautiful woman I've ever met. You're telling me no man has ever cooked you breakfast before?"
I bit my lip before answering. "They don't usually stay that long."
"Oh," Harry mouthed, understanding.
"That's what I meant by you're different."
"Oh."
Another awkward moment of silence passed. "Thank you...for saying that."
"It's the truth."
When we'd finished our food, I gathered the plates to wash them. Harry wanted to help, but I insisted he'd done enough. He went to the bedroom to put on his shirt and shoes and came back a few minutes later.
"Um," he's so cute when he seems a little nervous, "do you happen to have an extra toothbrush? My mouth just feels..." He made a face.
I chuckled. "Sure, come here."
He followed me into the bathroom where I had a new toothbrush still in the package. He said thanks and I returned to the dishes. I was finishing up cleaning the countertop when I felt two arms wrap around me. He pushed aside my hair from my neck and kissed it, just as he had when we arrived back at my place last night. I could smell the mint in his breath as he moved his lips up my jaw to my ear. I took one of his hands, then turned around to face him.
"I should probably get going," he announced.
"Okay," I nodded.
"Roni, I..." Harry stopped. Then he let out an exasperated breath, took my face in his hands and kissed me. "Please let me see you again."
"Of course," I said, surprised at his uncertainty.
"I'd ask you out for tonight, but it might be too much too soon."
"I don't know," I shrugged. I didn't have plans. "La Colombe d'Or might be too much too soon. But maybe we could think of something to do on the smaller scale."
"Really?" he grinned.
"Yeah."
"Well..." he hesitated. "Um, there's a pub my mates and I go to a lot."
"Perfect!" I exclaimed.
"Really?" Harry asked again.
"I'm not all high maintenance, Harry." I placed my hand on his arm and gave it a squeeze.
"Same time?"
"Sure."
"Right. Brilliant. I'll be here."
He kissed me once more, but let his lips linger a bit before releasing me and grabbing his jacket. I saw him to the door and watched as he took the stairs down. He looked back and waved at me when he reached the front door of the building. I blew him a kiss and he pretended to catch it.
I couldn't wait to see him again.

5 Simple Tips to Refresh Your Home Decor
Refreshing your home decor doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. With a few thoughtful changes, you can transform your space into a cozy, stylish haven. Here are five easy tips to get started:
1. Declutter and Organize
A clutter-free space instantly feels more inviting. Start by clearing out items you no longer need or use. Invest in stylish storage solutions like baskets, bins, or floating shelves to keep your essentials organized and visually appealing.
2. Add a Pop of Color
Introduce new colors through accessories like throw pillows, blankets, or curtains. If you’re feeling bold, consider painting an accent wall or adding colorful artwork. Even small touches of vibrant hues can breathe new life into a room.
3. Incorporate Greenery
Plants are an affordable way to add freshness and texture to your home. Choose low-maintenance options like succulents, snake plants, or pothos for a touch of nature. Place them in decorative pots or hanging planters to enhance their visual appeal.
4. Update Lighting
Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood. Swap out outdated fixtures for modern designs or add layered lighting with table lamps, floor lamps, and string lights. Dimmer switches can also help create a cozy ambiance.
5. Mix Textures and Patterns
Layering different textures and patterns adds depth and interest to your decor. Combine soft fabrics like velvet or linen with rustic elements like wood or metal. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns, but keep a cohesive color palette to maintain balance.
By implementing these simple changes, you can create a refreshed and inviting space that reflects your personal style. Remember, home decor is all about making your space feel like you!

In 2023, bedroom decor trends are all about blending aesthetics with functionality. Let's explore some trendy styles that are making waves in the world of bedroom interior design.
Minimalist Design
Minimalism is timeless and continues to be a favorite among many. Avivakeeon Interio This design revolves around simplicity, focusing on functionality and decluttered spaces. Achieving a minimalist bedroom involves:
- Neutral Colors: Think soft whites, grays, and beige to create a calming atmosphere.
- Clean Lines: Opt for furniture with simple, sleek lines—no fuss, no muss.
- Functional Furniture: Each piece should serve a purpose; consider multi-functional furniture like beds with storage.
- Limited Accessories: Use one or two statement pieces, like a large canvas or a unique lamp, to add personality without overwhelming the space.
Vintage Charm
Bringing back the old-world charm, vintage-themed bedrooms capture a sense of nostalgia with a modern twist. Here’s how you can embrace vintage charm in your bedroom:
- Antique Furniture: Use pieces like a weathered dresser or an ornate mirror to infuse character.
- Bold Patterns: Incorporate floral or damask patterns through wallpaper or textiles.
- Rich Colors: Jewel tones such as deep emeralds, ruby reds, or golds evoke warmth and sophistication.
- Layered Textures: Mix and match textures like lace, velvet, and cotton for a cozy, collected feel.
Bohemian Vibes
For those who love an eclectic mix of colors, patterns, and textures, the bohemian style is the way to go. It embraces a free spirit and relaxed lifestyle. You can create bohemian vibes through:
- Earthy Tones: Use warm colors such as earthy browns, rust oranges, and sun-kissed yellows.
- Eclectic Accessories: Add variety with global-inspired decor like mandalas, dream catchers, and tapestries.
- Mixed Patterns: Don’t shy away from using bold, colorful patterns on bedding, rugs, and curtains.
- Natural Elements: Incorporate plants, wooden furniture, and woven baskets to bring the outdoors inside.
Furniture Arrangement
Strategically arranging furniture in your bedroom can enhance both aesthetics and functionality.
- Flow and Space: Ensure there's enough room to move around comfortably. Avoid overcrowding with furniture.
- Focal Points: Your bed often serves as the focal point. Position it in a way that feels welcoming when you enter the room.
- Balance: Maintain balance in the room by placing matching nightstands or lamps, which can create symmetry.
- Accessibility: Keep frequently used items within reach to make your daily routine more convenient.
Lighting Options
Great lighting transforms the mood of your bedroom and adds depth to the decor. Consider these lighting options:
- Natural Light: Maximize the use of windows to bring in natural light. Sheer curtains can filter light while adding privacy.
- Layered Lighting: Combine overhead lighting with bedside lamps and possibly a floor lamp to create zones of light.
- Dimmers: Install dimmer switches to adjust lighting levels according to the time of day or your mood.
- Accent Lighting: Use LED strips under shelves or behind the headboard for a modern touch.
Textile Choices
Textiles are crucial in setting the mood and style of your bedroom decor.
- Bedding: Choose high-quality sheets and comforters that suit your style—be it minimal cotton or rich satin.
- Rugs: Area rugs can define spaces and add warmth. Consider a soft, plush rug for comfort.

Let's explorewith Avivakeeon Interio some color options that could transform your space into the bedroom of your dreams.
Warm and Cozy Tones
Warm colors are perfect if you want to create an inviting and cozy atmosphere in your bedroom. Shades like soft yellows, rich terracottas, and warm browns can add a sense of warmth and comfort. These colors are especially wonderful during colder months when you want your space to feel like a snug retreat.
- Soft Yellows: Think of muted mustard or creamy tones. They're not too overwhelming and can brighten up the room effortlessly.
- Terracottas: This earthy shade brings a rustic charm and pairs beautifully with natural decor elements like wooden furniture.
- Warm Browns: Rich chocolate or coffee hues can add a luxurious feel to your bedroom, making it feel more intimate and restful.
Cool and Calming Shades
If relaxation is your top priority, cool colors can be your go-to choice. Colors such as blues, greens, and gentle grays infuse the space with tranquility and help instill a sense of peace after a long day.
- Soft Blues: Sky blue or seafoam shades are perfect for evoking a coastal vibe and creating a dreamy, airy environment.
- Gentle Greens: Sage or mint green can transform your bedroom into a healing space, bringing a touch of nature indoors.
- Subtle Grays: Light grays can act as a neutral backdrop, enabling you to incorporate other colorful accents without overwhelming the room.
Bold and Statement Colors
Feeling adventurous? A bold color might be exactly what your bedroom needs to make a statement. Strong tones like deep purples, dramatic blacks, or vibrant reds add character and can be striking when used effectively.
- Deep Purples: These regal hues can add a sense of luxury and elegance. Pair them with metallic accents for a sophisticated look.
- Dramatic Blacks: Black can be modern and chic, providing a perfect contrast for more vibrant decor pieces.
- Vibrant Reds: If you want energy and passion in your space, vibrant reds will do the trick. However, use it cautiously as an accent to avoid it overpowering the room.
Wall Design Inspirations
Your bedroom walls are the canvas of your space. With a bit of creativity and inspiration, you can turn them into a focal point that reflects your personal style.
Accent Walls
Accent walls are a fantastic way to add depth and focus without committing an entire room to a vivid color. They draw attention and can define specific areas within your bedroom.
- Paint: Use a bold or contrasting color on one wall to create a visual anchor.
- Texture: Consider adding texture with shiplap, bricks, or stone to give the wall a unique touch.
- Artistic Patterns: Geometric designs or mural paintings can make excellent accent wall features that add personality to the room.
Wallpaper Trends
Wallpaper has made a remarkable comeback and offers endless possibilities for bedroom wall design. From traditional motifs to modern, daring patterns, there is something for every style.
- Botanical Prints: These bring in an essence of nature, creating a serene environment.
- Metallic Accents: Add some shimmer with gold or silver-infused designs for a glamorous touch.
- Textured Wallpapers: Options like grasscloth or linen provide a tactile experience and add depth to your space.
Art and Decor Integration
Incorporating art and decor elements is another exciting way to style your bedroom walls. It's an opportunity to showcase your tastes and personality while enhancing the room's aesthetics.
- Gallery Walls: Create a gallery wall with a mix of frames and artworks that resonate with you. It could be family photos, impressive artworks, or even travel souvenirs.
- Mirrors: Large or uniquely shaped mirrors not only amplify light but also add dimension to your room.
- Decorative Shelves: Install shelving to display a curated collection of items like books, small sculptures, or plants for added interest.
With these ideas in hand, you're now ready to master the art of bedroom interior design. Whether it's chic colors, innovative wall designs, or unique decor, your bedroom can be a perfect reflection of your style and haven of comfort.

Sentient House

Rain lashed against the bookstore window, the rhythmic drumming a familiar comfort amidst the harsh hum of the fluorescent lights. Sarah browsed the fantasy novels, the worn spines whispering promises of escape for a few precious moments. Alex, perched precariously on a rickety ladder, scanned the science fiction section, his brow furrowed in concentration.
"Mom," Alex piped up, his voice barely a whisper. "Do you think there are houses with thoughts and emotions in other universes?"
Sarah, her heart heavy with the day's worries, forced a smile. His question held a vulnerability she knew all too well. Alex, a brilliant mind trapped in a world of inflexible routines and overwhelming social interactions, found solace in fantastical tales. It was a world Sarah understood intimately, both as his mom and an autistic woman struggling to navigate a society built for the neurotypical.
Finding resources for herself, let alone Alex, was a constant battle. The local autism support group folded months ago, and government assistance remained a bureaucratic labyrinth that seemed designed to wear you down. The weight of caring for Alex and her aging parents, both on the spectrum and struggling with their own challenges, pressed down on Sarah.
She knelt beside Alex, her touch the only comfort she could offer. "Maybe not sentient houses," Sarah said, her voice raspy from exhaustion, "but maybe other universes have things we can't even imagine." It wasn't much, but it was all she had to offer right now.
The bookstore offered a temporary refuge, but reality awaited outside. Their small apartment, now shared with her aging parents, reflected the constant struggle to stay afloat. Sarah knew the challenges wouldn't disappear. There would be sleepless nights and mounting bills. But for a little while, in that cozy bookstore filled with fantastical tales, Sarah held onto the hope that they could face it together, one whispered secret from a fictional talking house to Alex, and one shared glance with her son that spoke volumes, at a time.
As they left the bookstore, the rain had slowed to a gentle drizzle, matching the somber mood that hung over Sarah like a heavy shroud. With each step towards home, the weight of their reality pressed down upon her, threatening to crush her spirit beneath its burdens.
By the time Sarah unlocked the door, exhaustion completely flooded her. The elders' usual routines had become erratic, anxieties amplified. Cracked utensils they refused to let go of were stacked and stashed everywhere. Lopsided drawers were rattled repeatedly after each instance of usage. Stepping into their cramped, cluttered space felt like a physical manifestation of Sarah's deepest fear – losing control.
A flicker of defiance sparked in her eyes this time, however. Why should sentient houses not be a reality? Rolling up her sleeves, Sarah set about creating a calming environment without breaking the bank. Together with Alex, she repurposed an old lamp with a dimmer switch for a softer glow, fashioned weighted blankets from old clothes, concocted calming scents made from essential oil samples and programmed a nature documentary to play softly on the TV as a soothing visual lullaby.
It wasn't perfect, but it was a start. As Sarah sat down with her parents and son for a simple dinner of leftovers, a sense of quiet strength washed over her. They were a family bound by neurodiversity, yes, but also by a fierce determination to create their own sanctuary within the constraints of their reality, come rain or shine. The challenges wouldn't disappear, but with the unmasked love from her son and her own ingenuity, Sarah knew they would face them together, one repurposed lamp and shared memory at a time.

under the cut please enjoy my unedited ramblings about the things I've done to improve my sleep quality lately and how they might help you. obligatory I'm not an expert, but I've came to use this strategy based on the advice of my therapist and psychiatrist
my number one advice for improving your sleep quality is start and maintain a bedtime routine. and the easiest way to do that in my opinion is to switch to nighttime showers if you're a morning shower person. taking a nice warm shower right before bed will start the cueing process that it's time for you to go to sleep soon. I also brush my teeth in the shower, adding another cue. honestly using as many sensory cues as you can that it's Bedtime can help you fall asleep easier. physical touch cue of pyjamas or a blanket or warm clean skin, taste cue of toothpaste and mouthwash, scent cue of a blown-out candle or pillow spray, sight cues of dimmer greyscale screens before bed. auditory cues of white noise, music, fans, whatever you're able to listen to to sleep.
If you're not able to/ready to/comfortable with putting your phone far away before bed, try some of the things I mentioned like setting your brightness, volume, and screen to greyscale before bed. My phone can do it automatically at a set time every night. Instagram becomes a lot less engaging and brain sucking when there's less colors and sounds to entice you.
if you struggle with racing thoughts and still can't fall asleep, you can try two things. one, medication (OTC or prescription) with doctors guidance can help (I use melatonin myself). or two, guided thinking like counting sheep. it sounds cliched but it works. I like to recite times tables to myself like "one times zero is zero. one times one is one. one times two is two. one times three is three" etc. my therapist recommends skip counting if that's too much, like 7 14 21 28... One that's not effective for me but might be for you is picking a category and then trying to name things starting with each letter of the alphabet in that category (arugula, beet, carrot, diakon, etc). that one is easy for me to get distracted during it, but some people might find that to be how the math ones feel. try different things. I'm usually asleep by the 3's times table.
lastly if you can't get up in the morning without 5000 alarms and someone dragging you out of bed, try starting with fewer alarms (I have 2, a wake up alarm and a get out of bed and get ready alarm, so I have time to lay on my phone planned in). if you're very aware you only have one reminder to get up, you might find it easier than knowing You've got multiples set to rely on. it worked for me! Changing your alarm tone can also help if your current one is too gentle, quiet, or something You've just gotten used to. loud obnoxious music works well. also consider getting a daylight simulation lamp, they're particularly nice in the winter months. morning routines can help improve quality of sleep as much as nighttime routines as well.

Designing Your Master Bedroom: Creating a Serene Retreat
Your master bedroom is not just a place to sleep; it is your personal sanctuary, a haven of relaxation and rejuvenation. Designing this space requires careful consideration and attention to detail to ensure it reflects your style and promotes a sense of tranquillity. Whether you're starting from scratch or giving your existing bedroom a makeover, here are some tips to help you design a master bedroom that is both functional and inviting.
Define Your Style: Begin by determining the overall style you want to achieve. Are you drawn to minimalist, contemporary, rustic, or bohemian aesthetics? Browse through design magazines, websites, and social media platforms to gather inspiration and identify key elements that resonate with you. This will serve as a foundation for your design decisions.
Optimize Space: Consider the layout and size of your bedroom to make the most of the available space. Choose furniture that fits comfortably and doesn't overcrowd the room. A clutter-free environment promotes relaxation, so incorporate ample storage solutions like built-in closets or stylish dressers to keep belongings organized and out of sight.
Choose a Soothing Colour Palette: Colours have a profound impact on our moods and emotions. Select a calming colour palette that promotes relaxation and serenity. Soft, muted tones like pastels, neutrals, or cool blues and greens can create a peaceful ambience. Introduce pops of colour through accessories or artwork to add visual interest without overwhelming the space.
Layer Lighting: Lighting is crucial in setting the right mood in a master bedroom. Incorporate a mix of ambient, task, and accent lighting to create a layered effect. Install dimmer switches to adjust the intensity of light according to your needs and preferences. Consider natural light as well, as it can enhance the overall atmosphere of the room.
Invest in Quality Bedding: The centrepiece of any master bedroom is the bed. Invest in a high-quality mattress, comfortable pillows, and luxurious bedding to ensure a good night's sleep. Opt for soft, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen that feel gentle against the skin. Experiment with textures and patterns to add visual interest to your bed.
Create a Relaxation Nook: Designate a cosy corner in your master bedroom for relaxation and unwinding. Consider adding a comfortable reading chair or a chaise lounge where you can enjoy a book or simply take a moment to yourself. Enhance this space with a plush rug, a side table, and a floor lamp for added functionality.
Incorporate Personal Touches: Your master bedroom should reflect your personality and create a sense of intimacy. Display meaningful artwork, photographs, or treasured items that evoke positive emotions. Add personal touches through decorative accents like candles, plants, or scented diffusers to infuse the room with your unique style.
Remember, the key to designing a master bedroom is to create a space that promotes relaxation and serves as your personal retreat. With careful thought and attention to detail, you can design a serene and inviting space that brings you joy and rejuvenation every time you step into it. Take the time to plan and consider your preferences, and let your master bedroom become a haven for rest and tranquillity.
