Putting my zine on hold to write and compose an EP dedicated to my teenage self. I've been wanting to do that for a long time now and I got a wonderful, brand new guitar for my birthday, so let's see how it goes.

Learning to sing better so that one day I can gather a group of talented female musicians and form a gothic metal band where all the members are women and I'm the only man and lead singer, and I use mostly clean operatic vocals and shoot music videos dressed like a prince and being the eye candy, and there is another female vocalist who growls and maybe we date idk

new form of gender euphoria unlocked
after screaming at a variety of different events (fun and serious and everything in between), i’ve damaged my vocal cords enough to comfortably hit a B1. it’s not good at all for my vocal health, especially with a performance of haydns creation coming up. but also gender

testosterone hrt doesn’t ruin singing voices btw. cis dudes’ voices change and (fucking obviously) plenty of cis men are singers??? sure, T changes your vocal cords and the way your voice sounds/feels, but these are changes that you can work to adjust to. yet i know that as with any adjustment, it can seem easier to stop once change occurs. like i know when my voice drops and changes, i’m gonna sing through it, but for a bit i’m gonna be like “ew my voice keeps cracking mid note :(” but yk what? that will NOT discourage me from singing. if you sing through it - voice breaking and cracking and weird shifts and voice drops out of nowhere - you wind up with something beautiful! so, singers on testosterone hrt or even just singers going through puberty, sing through voice drops and voice changes.
p.s. i find that many singers on T, especially singers who have grown somewhat used to their pre-T singing voice, stop singing because it can be difficult to sing around voice changes. and then when they start again, their voices are not only tonally and pitch-wise different, but out of use. if you stop singing for a long period of time - and this doesn’t just go for hrt, it’s applicable in literally all cases - your voice is going to be rusty and not sound all that great once you start again.

they should invent testosterone that gives you body hair and bottom growth and facial hair but lets you stay a soprano

It’s super wild to listen to songs I haven’t played in a long while cus there’s a lot of songs like Disenchanted MCR or Good Riddance Green Day that I used to sing a lot and I REALLY REALLY wanted to sound like that. It makes sense, for men those songs are very high but for women they’re very firmly in the low alto range and basically never go too low for a woman with a decently low range to hit. I used to put on this really weird almost nasally voice singing to these songs trying to replicate these guys voices cus I wanted to sound like them
I don’t think I realized it at the time but yeah i wanted to sound like Billie Joe Armstrong so SO bad lmao. Singing those songs after I’ve been on T for a year is a trip cus before I could hit all those notes but I was also doing something weird to my voice, I was forcing my low register forward to get that raspy slightly nasal quality that those guys all have. Now I can hit all those notes easily but that forward tone still is kinda hard to do
It’s cool how as a vocalist I keep learning stuff about my new voice ^-^
