Hmmm! Okay! I actually wanted Alastor discovering his partner is a Fallen Angel for a while now. I can imagine what would happen… but uh, anyway. Let’s try this out, shall we? Alastor is now my primary Hazbin Hotel man, which I don’t mind! I love this man!

Alastor- Lies and Deception

Why… why would you lie?! Why did you lie?! Why did… Alastor can barely process what he just learnt. His beloved partner, his cute sweetie. A affectionate polite man, you. You’re not a demon at all, you’re an angel and you were a high-level angel as well. Charlie isn’t the only one who finds out her partner is a angel, Alastor did too

“A-Al! I can explain… I just—” “Save it, Leitore. I don’t want to hear from you” and with that, Alastor goes back down to Hell. Not hearing you out, despite when you try to explain yourself. It hurts your soul seeing your boyfriend, now, so closed-off, cold and disinterested

Alastor refuses to talk to you and when he does, he is quite passive-aggressive but yet, he can’t bring himself to be insulting. He is more business than emotions and comes off as very apathetic. It’s just because he doesn’t know how to act around you anymore with this grand discovery drilled into his head

He avoids you like the plague after the incident in Heaven and Adam revealing both you and Vaggie’s angelic origins to the Group

Alastor had ended up just like Charlie. Both him and Charlie are struggling with learning that their partner lied to them and hid their true selves for so long. Unlike Charlie, who vents to Alastor about Vaggie all the way to the Cannibal Colony, Alastor tries to not focus on you… he doesn’t want a reminder

However, he is eventually talked into trying to make it up with you by his dear friend, Rosie. She reminds him that you’re his lover and that he can’t just shut you out over you not trusting Alastor to not throw you out if you told him the truth… oh, Alastor could kiss Rosie right now! But, he can’t. He needs to make up with you after the weeks he’s spent ignoring you

Like Charlie, Alastor brings over a little gift. Surprised to find out that you’ve gotten back your angel wings after so long of merely looking like an average sinner. Three feathery sets, they are gorgeous and they make your eyes pop. Alastor may not like that his lover is an Angel and he’s a true Demon but that shouldn’t keep you two apart… and after Rosie’s talk, it won’t

After quite the long private talk with you and much forgiveness and acceptance and promising, Alastor is once again, by your side and holding your hand. He was harsh in the past about what he considered a betrayal but he has heard your side of it and forgiven you for lying to him. Not everybody is perfect

Alastor may or may not play with your reborn and re-gained angel wings when he is bored or waiting. You’re always right next to him so he’ll just run sharp long clawed fingers through the gentle feathers and be enamoured by how incredible it feels. Alastor also may just take an nap on your back with how comfortable those wings of yours are

Alastor is your sweet devil, a truly corrupted evil monster but he has an opposite in the man you are, a more pacifistic and harmless soul. Just like Charlie and Vaggie but swapped, you and Alastor are the higher-up Angel-Demon gay couple. Alastor is unredeemable and won’t be going to Heaven whilst you, a being of Heaven, is stuck down here in Hell

Alastor much prefers you stay in your original look but now, that also includes the Seraphim wings. Just keep them out of the way whilst you walk and Alastor is completely content with it. He just has to get use to having an angel in the Hotel… he has to get use to having TWO angels in the Hotel

Trust me, Alastor won’t ask about life as a Seraphim in Heaven. He doesn’t even care about it, he doesn’t care what dropped you into Hell. He only cares that you’re in Hell and that you’ll stay in Hell, stay with him. That’s all he’ll ever ask, but if you want to talk about your past in Heaven, he is all ears

Alastor, also, may not be perfect but he is doing his best to accept the reality that you had to lie to him and now that, you’re both cleared it up with one another. Now, you can be 100% honest with each other

Alastor is encouraging to you, encouraging you to let out your angelic origins and not be frightened by all the Sinners. Everybody in the Hotel knows you and Vaggie are from Heaven, just embrace it. He is embracing it one step at a time

In Defence of Growth Spurt

Well, this has been quite the last quarter of the year…

As if we Undertale fans haven’t already been spoiled enough, the beginning of October blessed us with the triumphant return of one of the most beloved UT comics in the fandom. From the cold ashes of a long hiatus, Growth Spurt rose like a glorious Phoenix, treating us to 29 panels of vibrant colour schemes, sharp writing, and one of the most unique art styles this godforsaken site has ever known, an art style that this godforsaken artist has taken a lot of inspiration from.

But as great as this page was, it did leave me a bit stunned as it unveiled a shocking twist…

...that Alphys is not a good person.

*GASPS SOMEWHAT SARCASTICALLY*

Pardon my hyperbole and lousy humour, but I knew from the moment I read this that some were going to discuss how Alphys is depicted in this page, and I understand why. 

I know how easy is to dismiss these kinds of viewpoints, especially since the excessive idolization and demonization of morally complex characters is a bit of a tradition here, and the Undertale fandom is no exception. Trust me, as a person who’s been part of the Chara fandom, I know from experience (who was also exceptionally well-written in this comic by the way). 

I’m very glad I didn't talk about this immediately because it’s given me some time to think about this scene and you’ll be relieved to hear that I no longer have an issue with this page. But I still understand why people would take issue with this. Because hey, at one point so did I.

But to say that everyone who has a differing opinion is just a salty Alphys stan is nothing short of tasteless. That’s why I am going to explain the best I could criticisms that someone might (and that I used to) have, before explaining why I decided to abandon said criticisms.

To give a brief recap, the Matainence/Defect Arc centres around Alphys and Asriel, along with Frisk and Undyne as they attempt to fix the CORE which has suffered from, would you believe it, a defect. In addition to repairing the CORE, Alphys must also repair her relationship with Asriel, as she’s haunted by the creation of Flowey, and dreading what might result from it.

Wholesome family-friendly entertainment, am I right?

Fast forward to where we are now, where we see the CORE starting to break down completely, along with Alphys’ and Asriel’s emotional state. While starting to doubt if the meltdown can be stopped, she argues with Asriel that it may be better to just give up on their efforts, and when she’s confronted with the possibility of fatalities resulting from that course of action she says this:

As I read this panel, which did give me a bit of a shock, these were my first impressions, which I must re-emphasize are impressions that I NO LONGER HAVE.

There’s a difference between saying “we can’t save them all.” and “it’s just a few deaths.” It’s the same reason people were left reeling when Superman asks his dad if he should’ve let the kids die to protect his secret identity, to which he replies "Maybe." I understand the feelings behind what’s being said, but to articulate said feelings like that wouldn't sit well with some people.

But the real reason I had doubts about this scene's direction was not that it highlighted a flaw in Alphys’ character but that it, as it seemed to me, potentially undid Alphys’ progress in overcoming those flaws. Let me better explain.

It should go without saying that Alphys isn’t the greatest person in Undertale. I mean, no one is. This has more to do with just her checkered past with Amalgamates as she does possess personal qualities that… aren’t the best. Just look at her true motivations for helping Frisk get through the underground.

But while she’s not the greatest person, she did become a better one by the end of the Pacifist Run. Yes, she didn’t exactly get a complete redemption arc, but she’s in a better position than she was now. She did find the courage to release the amalgamates and confess to her former king and queen about her role in creating them, which gave her the honour of becoming the former royal scientist. 

So for Alphys to be beside herself with regret about what she did to the Amalgamates AND Asriel only to later be seemingly unconcerned with the deaths of people (AS IF SHE WON'T REGRET IT LATER), while also reducing their demises to being “outliers” just didn’t click right with me… AT FIRST.

But eventually, after a little consideration, I eventually came to accept this scene, and realize that this panel in the Defect Arc is anything but a defect. All you have to do is look no further than to the panels that followed it.

You don’t need to express indignation about what she said because Asriel already did. Of course a well-deserved chastising should follow that line, but what makes Asriel’s lecture that much more impactful is not just because it’s just a well-deserved reprimand, but because of what it does for Asriel’s character development.

Keep in mind the previous page saw him asking Alphys not to call him by his title because he felt he didn’t do anything to deserve it. And yet one page later, he displays qualities that show that he does. But what makes this scene even more memorable for me is what came before the reprimand:

See? Right before he proceeds to humble the good doctor, he takes a moment to EMPATHIZE with Alphys plight and shows that he fully understands that this isn’t worth “taking at face value”. Though he still rakes her over the coals for her statement, he still takes a moment to show that he fully understands why she made it.

It’s while I was re-reading this scene that I realized something: if Asriel can learn to understand Alphys, then why the duck shouldn’t I?

This is what continues to draw me and many others back to Growth Spurt to this day. It’s more than just the comedic one-shots or sadistically revelling in Asriel’s teenage angst. 

The story didn't need grand clashes, shadowy conspiracies, or inter-dimensional antics (not that there’s anything wrong with that). It’s just the main cast learning to confront their past. It’s so simple, yet so impactful, just like the art style.

I’m not concerned about what Alphys is like here because I know where she’s going to end up. Just look at what happened with Toriel!

Remember this scene where she completely attempts to shut down Asriel as he attempts to get her to talk with Asgore? 

It’s not a good look for her if you just cherry-pick these panels, but look where this scene eventually led up to. Only perhaps my favourite story arc that I have ever seen out of any Undertale comic period, and one of my favourite comic scenes!

Seriously how can you not get teary-eyed looking at this?

I save the can't even-ing about this particular arc on another post, but for now, all I know after reading this comic is this: sometimes when a character’s progress takes a step back it’s because it’s about to take a bounding leap.

Because in the end, that’s what Growth Spurt is all about: GROWTH.

So don’t judge a book by its cover...

...and don’t judge a character arc before it’s finished.

My World War I movie recommendations for Remembrance Day

1. Testament of Youth

Starring: Alicia Vikander, Kit Harington, Taron Egerton, Colin Morgan

Don't be fooled by the cover - this is less of a romance film and more of a powerful treatise on the mental and emotional consequences of war. Heartbreaking, haunting, and beautiful, this film is based on the true life experiences of Vera Brittain, a university student who postponed her studies to volunteer as a nurse during WWI. She later became a renowned pacifist and feminist writer.

2. Goodbye Christopher Robin

Starring: Domhnall Gleeson, Margot Robbie, Kelly Macdonald

A sad and sweet story based on the life of A.A. Milne, author of Winnie the Pooh. Alan struggles with PTSD upon returning home from serving in the Great War, but eventually finds joy and happiness inventing stories with his imaginative young son. This film sticks out to me in the way it highlights the intergenerational pain of the two World Wars, fathers who fought in one having to watch their sons go fight another. It also sheds light on how the beloved character of Winnie the Pooh came to be.

3. Tolkien

Starring: Nicolas Hoult, Lily Collins, Patrick Gibson

Based on the life of (you guessed it) J.R.R. Tolkien, this film showcases the beauty of a writer's imagination and the dearness of close male friendship (hooray!). When Tolkien and his group of fellow creatives go off to war, they are affected by their experiences in ways they did not expect, and sadly not all of them make it back. This is not a war movie per se, but the war is certainly a pivotal part of the story and you can see how Tolkien's war experiences found their way into his writing.

4. War Horse

Starring: Jeremy Irvine, Emily Watson, Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, David Thewlis

This is a story of a boy, Albert, and his horse, Joey, separated during events of the war. We follow Joey as he is used by the British Army and eventually reunites with Albert (yay!), though both Albert and Joey encounter many dangers and tragedies along the way. A poignant look at war, and a sentimental tale of a boy and his horse.

i got invited into @skies-seas space headworld a while back and offered my beloved immortal space captain from spore 2008. and then it took me several months to finalize a design for them/their species

Captain Sondetten was once just a guy, but is now a spaceship puppeting around a clone of their old body. This is because they made the mistake of captaining the first expedition beyond their home star, and the first to encounter sapient alien life. Now they are not a person to the empire, they’re a living symbol progress and expansion and conquest and they can’t be allowed to die. So when they did, solutions were found. [more under readmore]

Several centuries later, Sondetten is still kicking. The same mind, more or less. They’ve accumulated so many memories that after a certain point, it was easier to transfer their mind into servers aboard their ship. Easier for the empire to maintain digital backups for when the ship is destroyed and needs to be rebuilt. Easier to filter out extraneous data that would only take up valuable space.

Son’s none too thrilled with their lot in life. Everything they do has political consequences that can make or break an alliance. Despite their influence they can’t do anything to change their situation. They don’t recognize the world they were born on. They can’t remember the names or faces of their countless dead friends. They’ve mostly stopped making friends, as no one else can understand fully what they’ve experienced. They’re a ghost haunting their own ship, which is more their true self now than the flesh they wear for the sake of being presentable.

In this shared setting, Son finally snapped and went rogue. They broke into a memory bank to hastily download a big file of that old ‘extraneous data’ (not a clean install, it’s not totally coherent or chronological but they’re glad to have the chance to invite old ghosts back in), then they made their exit and wrecked some shit on the way out, vanishing off to the other side of the galaxy. Son may have been a pacifist once but they’ve long since grown desensitized to violence.

There’s nothing stopping the empire from making another Sondetten, and becoming even more selective with what memories are returned to them to prevent this from happening again. But that’s a problem for that Sondetten, not this one. This Sondetten finally got away, and is for the first time in a long time somewhat mortal. They can make another body clone given enough time if the current one is killed, but if their ship is destroyed there will be no one to rebuild it and restore these memories. This Son will end if the ship dies, which is a novel experience.

In the meantime they’re trying to figure out how life works now in a place where they’re not being strangled by their own legacy. They arrive into the plot as just the ship with severe hull damage and some very atypical technology. They find themself put up as a grand prize to be won in some competition, which is not exactly what they were hoping for. They decide to play along for a time in hopes of getting free repairs, and only reveal themself as a sapient being when some folks try snooping into their memory servers or cloning process.

~ Anyway i made this species in spore in like 2012 or something? they were one of my main playthroughs and Sondetten is my go to when i’m playing the space stage :]

i’ve been trying to draw/design the species but it took me sooooooo long to settle on what i wanted! the initial concept was marsupial + bird but it evolved past that. there’s plenty of thylacine in the jaw range of motion & general posture/body anatomy, but also some rodent proportions and upright posture. head cones from great crested grebe and austroraptor. wing anatomy and proportions are pterosaur, a single long digit supporting a membrane. with a wing covering of moth like scales. also a bit of pangolin but it’s more obvious on some subspecies than on Sond here

the idea is that the predecessors of this species had some kind of fur like covering, which over time changed into fused structures somewhere between a scale and a feather? they’re primarily equipped for insulation and ornamentation (colourful) but the wing scales help to provide lift, and there are larger variations that provide effective armour. stomach ‘plumage’ is more similar to the original ‘fur’

The two scenes, which are better in the novel than in the movie

There's one serious issue with Balto's personality in the movie. He's very weak, timid, meek and passive in therms of fight or physical defense despite being half-wolf, i.e. being stronger than regular huskies and malamutes. And if among humans he can't kick butts of the dogs who bullied him, 'cause humans can consider him dangerous and shoot, any confrontations in the wild simply ruin the protagonist, who actually is challenged by the three conflicts and has to overcome them, growing as a character — the conflict with the nature (to save the sick children, especially Rosie, who was the only kind human to Balto), the conflict with society (to proove to humans and other dogs own goodness and kick the enemy) and the inner conflict (fighting own inner conflicts and doubts, finding and accepting the true self, i.e. the wolf part of his nature — the white wolf scene symbolizes Balto's true self and embracing it).

Unfortunately, if the conflict with nature and inner conflict were developed and demonstrated very well in the movie, the overcoming the conflict with society was shown better in the novel. Because in the novel Balto is still kind and timid some time, but he still can kick a butt of an enemy, he can fight. The grizzly bear scene. In this scene only Jenna was a pure badass, who saved Balto and fought with the bear. The small husky is more badass than the half-wolf again (previously she protected Balto from Steele). The bear many times attacks Balto, Balto does nothing, he doesn't fight and doesn't try to either harm the bear or defeat it with using sharp mind and luring to some place. And when the bear is on the ice and drowned, Balto again does nothing for either defeating the bear or for escaping from the ice and simply happens in the trap under the ice. So Jenna, the young polar bears and Boris again rescue him. What a heck?! Why the crew made Balto such a weak idiot-pacifist?!

The novel made the scene much better. In this version both Balto and Jenna are badass, they both fought with the bear, the two beloved protect each other and own friends from the ferocious predator. Balto bites the bear several times, so the bear falls on the ice and then drowns, but draggs Balto under the ice, so Muk and Luk save him. That's how the scene should be in the movie! The character growth!

Really, the novel version is much better than the movie version.

The fight for antitoxine scene in the movie. I hate this scene since my childhood. I can not understand for the life of me, why Balto didn't fight against Steele or at least didn't dodge his attacks to exhaust him. What was in Balto's head, if he wanted to befriend the psychopath dog, who mistreated him all that time because of envy and rivalry?! Might I remind you, Steele twice tried to murder Balto (how he threw him toward the ice rock and sadistically laughed, looking at Balto's moveless body, and later tried to throw him off a cliff), while Balto didnt't defend himself but allowed to Steele to hurt him. What a hell?! That stupid accident with Jenna's untied bandana literally saved Balto's life, he did nothing for defending his life and defeating the villain. What was in heads of the creators?!

The funniest thing that in the official novel Balto kicked Steele's ass. Firstly, unlike the movie, in the novel dogs are not shown as hypocrites, ready to mock and bet, and then change the boss like a glove. In the novel, they were happy to go with Balto, but the only thing that stopped them was the fear of Steele. In the novelization, they are shown much better. They were just scared and helplessly watching the fight, because they were afraid of Steele. And when they finally found someone who kicked their boss's ass, they sincerely respected Balto (yep, the novel describes that Balto is the first, who beat Steele). In the movie, they are vile hypocrites and sycophants, ready to call their idol behind their idol's back. Second, the fight scene itself. In the novel, after Steele threw Balto toward the ice rock and laughed at Balto's moveless body, Balto is on his feet again, he finally gets serious. His eyes fiercy glow, Balto confidently goes forward toward Steele. Frightened and barely restraining fear and panic, Steele backs away to the edge of the cliff. Balto makes a sharp unexpected lunge forward, and Steele jumps back in fear and falls off the cliff.

That was really awesome and badass scene! Because Balto not only kicked Steele's ass, but disgraced him in front of other dogs, made him feel fear and disarmed him. Balto even didn't take to bare and to use his fangs! This moment is so cool, because it clearly demonstrates that Steele is actually a worthless coward with an inflated emergency and permissiveness, who can only bully weak ones and run around with a pack of hangers-on (you could notice, how Steele hides his fear of Balto in the alley scene). While in a real one-on-one fight he will tighten his tail and shit himself. In the novel, Balto scared him with one look, that's cool. Especially knowing that a little earlier Balto easily fought with the bear. It shows Balto's character growth, how he becomes more and more confident, basically preparing for the gorgeous and emotionally powerfull white wolf scene and then saving Rosie and other kids, finishing own character arc. So I have no idea, why the creators made Balto the half-wolf so helpless and passive in the movie.

Fics that I'm (Probably) Never Going to Write, Part 1/uhhhhhhhh

Depression is an absolute bastard. Anyway, here are a bunch of ideas for fics that I'm (probably) never going to write because I don't have the energy/focus/time, in the vain hope that putting them out in the universe will eventually result in them coming back to me in the form of completed works that I can rub all over my gross, itchy eyeballs. Or at the very least, maybe talking about one of these ideas with somebody will kick the dopamine machine back into working order long enough for me to actually write it myself.

All are DCAU and mostly focused on the Flash cause that's where I'm at right now.

"Mosaic"

When one of the Guardians goes rogue and begins abducting entire cities from across the universe (including Earth's own Central City and a colony of exiled Thanagarian pacifists), John Stewart agrees to come out of retirement for one last mission. He and the few surviving Green Lanterns defeat the "Mad Guardian" with the help of Vixen, Shayera Hol, and the Flash, though not before the stolen cities find themselves forcibly relocated to the surface of the planet Oa and combined into a patchwork superstructure of domed alien ecosystems.

Only then is the true nature of John's mission revealed to him: the seemingly-immortal Guardians are about to die, and have chosen him to be their first potential replacement. Until the old Guardians can regain the power necessary to return each city to its respective home-world, which they estimate will take about an Earth year, presiding over this "Mosaic of Worlds" will serve as John's final test.

"Runaway"

Wally doesn't know how long he drifted without form or consciousness before he appeared overlooking the crib of Danica Williams, a seemingly ordinary baby girl with whom he shares a strange metaphysical connection. Unable to be perceived by anyone else or interact with the world around him, and unable to leave the girl's side without causing them both extreme pain, Wally spends the next seven years as Dani's beloved imaginary friend while struggling to piece together what little he can remember of his past life.

After waking one night to a large crash downstairs, Wally finds that a SWAT team have broken into the Williams home, captured Dani's parents, and are on their way upstairs to find "the girl." Dani and her ghostly companion flee the house and go on the run, following Wally's vague sense that they can find help in Metropolis. But to get there from San Fransisco, they'll have to cross a country which has never been more dangerous for metahumans, pursued all the while by the sinister organization which took Dani's parents, an obsessed FBI agent named Hunter Zolomon, and worst of all, a monstrous speedster hell-bent on dragging Wally back to the Speed Force for good.

Hell, if Wally's powers weren't keeping them in peak physical condition, they would have been having this argument decades ago. It's fine.

It's been a while.

As you may or may not remember, Essenceswap went on hiatus all the way back in 2020 in order to develop a playable chapter that was meant to be a parallel to photoshop Flowey. Originally, I intended to make the whole game in one summer, but I just wasn't ready for the challenge. Things have changed, and I've finished my degree and planned to make the game for real with the skills I've learned.

However, yesterday Unity revealed a predatory new pricing plan. They intend to charge for every download of games made in Unity. While I wouldn't personally be charged for distributing my game (unless a malicious script was used to inflate download numbers), so many beloved games like Among Us, Cuphead, and Cult of the Lamb will be affected, alongside millions of indie games with less recognition or ability to fight back. I had intended to make the playable chapter in Unity, however, I now intend to join many other indie developers and refuse to distribute Unity games until they revert this decision.

This leaves us with a few ways to proceed:

-First, I could learn Unreal Engine, a new program for me, and produce this playable chapter the way it was intended. This would take the longest of all the options, but it would ensure that no matter what you receive a playable chapter for download as intended.

-Second, I could produce the playable chapter in Unity and record and upload the gameplay without distributing the game. This would be somewhat faster, ideally within the year, and if Unity reverts the decision, I can make the game available to all of you.

-Third, I could end the hiatus on the anniversary of Deltarune chapter 1 by publishing a written chapter with art showing the scenes from the game. This doesn't preclude the idea of me eventually using that art to make the playable chapter, but it wouldn't be a priority.

Please, leave a reply or send an ask telling me which option you'd prefer. Regardless of what I do, Essenceswap is not over--almost all of the true pacifist ending is written, and will be posted, as soon as the hiatus ends.

Fresh "Lost But Now Found" AU One-Shot incoming, my dear fellas. It takes place during the events of Hollow Mind. Colli, Hunter and Luz are transported into Belos' twisted mind! Let's get ready to rumble!

One-Shot: Belos' Twisted Mind

It was a quiet night on the Boiling Isles. Eda tried to get more magical wool. She was denied it, though. Out of a sudden, Colli and Luz spotted a certain blonde boy. Hunter! Luz chased after him, due to the fact that she wanted to ask him something.

Colli followed his big sister. The small starboy with otherworldly fluffy lavender hair and a heart of gold was always happy to see his beloved big brother. "Hunter!" Colli had a bright smile on his adorable multi-colored face.

"My beautiful little Sunshine." Under his mask, Hunter's magenta eyes were filled to the brim with love and adoration for his sweet little brother Colli. Then, Hunter accidentally stepped onto a vial, which transported him, Colli and Luz into Belos' mind!

"Luz! Colli!" Eda and King were clearly concerned. Both of them returned to the Owl House, they needed a plan to get Colli, Hunter and Luz back. Flapjack, who tagged along, was just as concerned about the three of them.

Meanwhile, Colli had a panic attack as he realized that he and his big siblings were in Belos' twisted mind! "W-we have to get out of h-here!" The kindhearted eternal little boy was hyperventilating and his small body was visibly trembling.

"Shhh, shhh. Everything is going to be alright, Sunshine. You don't have to be afraid. I'm here. I'll protect you." Hunter whispered softly as he wrapped his arms around Colli, who cuddled close to the young Golden Guard.

As soon as Hunter placed soft and loving kisses all over Colli's face, the immortal celestial boy calmed down a bit. "Hunter, that was amazing!" Luz, who took Colli's small hand, chimed in. She definitely was deeply impressed!

"Don't forget, human, it's your fault that we're here in the first place!" Hunter, who was still hugging Colli, snarled at Luz. As soon as Hunter and Luz began to argue, Colli put an end to their conflict with his pacifistic nature.

"Please, stop! I don't want you to fight. I don't like conflicts..." Colli teared up. Hunter and Luz decided not to fight anymore, for Colli's sake. "We're sorry, Colli." Hunter and Luz pulled Colli into a tight yet soft hug.

Unfortunately, the three of them soon were face to face with a shadowy figure, which looked like Belos. And a little boy. Kid Belos, who was oddly touchy with Luz. He didn't seem to care about Hunter, though. Colli definitely was suspicious.

The adult Belos turned into the Palisman Beast! Colli already knew this form. Belos used it often to scare him. Hunter took Colli's hand, and was determined to keep him safe. Luz, Colli and Hunter jumped into different paintings to escape the Beast.

It hurt Colli that Hunter tried to justify Belos' horrible actions the three of them had seen in each painting. But the starboy also knew that his beloved big brother definitely was in denial. Not that much later, the next painting came.

Hunter, who returned from the Eclipse Lake with the key, was excited to tell Belos the good news. Unfortunately, the Emporer was more than cold towards the blonde boy. Upon seeing this memory, Hunter clearly felt upset.

Colli's heart broke for him. He floated up and pressed with infinite tenderness his forehead against Hunter's. Luz couldn't help but smile a bit as Hunter intertwined his fingers with Colli's. She knew how much Colli and Hunter loved and adored each other.

Upon coming out of this painting, the Palisman Beast was back! Colli cowered in fear, while Hunter and Luz were about to defeat it, only to realize that the true danger came from Kid Belos, who revealed himself as the real Belos!

"Hello, Hunter. Hello, Luz. Hello, my Little Battery." Colli's heart was slamming against his ripcage as Belos approached him. Hunter didn't fail to notice the sheer terror in Colli's kind eyes as Belos was about to touch him.

"Don't touch him!" Hunter wrapped protectively his arms around Colli. "Oh, Hunter. What a shame... out of all the Grimwalkers, you looked the most like him." As soon as Belos said this, he pulled Colli and Hunter into the depths, the bottom, of his mind!

"Colli! Hunter!" Luz tried to help her little brother and Hunter, but she didn't succeed. The human girl was sobbing. "YOU MONSTER!" Luz was crying. To her horror, Belos revealed that he actually was Philip Wittebane!

"You didn't only show me glyphs, it's also your fault that I found the disc, which contained my Little Battery. It's only your fault that your little brother had to suffer on the Draining Chair!" Belos tried to manipulate Luz.

"My... fault that Colli had to suffer..." Luz whispered, a guilt-ridden expression on her face. Before she could fall even more into desperation and before Belos could kill her, Colli and Hunter emerged from the bottom of Belos' mind, thanks to her glyphs! Luz wrapped her arms around Colli and cuddled him close.

Not that much later, Colli and his beloved big siblings finally managed to escape, thanks to Eda and King.

Eda and King were incredible relieved that they succeeded. Hunter knew that he couldn't return to the Castle. "I... I can't go back!" Hunter was hyperventilating. Colli and Eda tried to reach out to him, but he removed his cape and ran out of the Owl House, into the woods.

"Hunter, wait!" Colli floated up and was about to follow him, but Eda held him back. "Hunter..." The little boy couldn't hold back his tears as Hooty secured the Owl House. Colli didn't know if he would see Hunter ever again...

《You have to go back, Hunter! Don't you want to stay with Colli?》 Flapjack chirped. The red cardinal was concerned. "I would love to stay with Colli! But Belos knows about our brotherly love for each other! I only want to keep my Little Angel safe!"

Hunter was clearly distraught. Not only was he a Grimwalker, his 'Uncle' had tortured the light of his life for fifty years! The blonde boy remembered the paintings in Belos' mind, which showed Colli in pain and agony. Speaking of Belos, the Emporer just woke up and he was not amused!

Lan’s Relationships

The poll results have officially declared my next post be lore about “Lotus of Rebirth”, so I figured what better way to give you just that than Lan’s relationships with the show’s cast! Keep in mind that I will purposely keep some vague to avoid spoilers, and even redact those that will contain too much information, so read carefully ~

MK: One of her best friends for as long as she could remember, Lan’s always acting as the voice of reason when it comes to being dragged into his antics. She’s always overwhelmed by all the crazy situations she keeps finding herself in thanks to his uncontrollable ability to find danger, but if push comes to shove, she’s perfectly willing to step out of her comfort zone to lend him a hand.

Mei: Her best friend along with MK, Lan is a polar opposite to Mei because of her meek and socially awkward nature contrasting against the dragon girl’s optimistic and outgoing attitude. One way to describe their dynamic is the popular girl to Lan’s quiet girl. Despite the differences in their auras, Lan is always more than happy to have Mei’s back and vice versa, even if it means allowing herself to be filmed on her livestream to “show off her cuteness” (Mei’s words, not hers). However, it doesn’t exactly stop Lan from being the tiniest bit jealous of her when it comes to family matters…

Pigsy: As the adoptive father and boss of one of her best friends, Pigsy is similar to that of a grumpy uncle figure to her. She occasionally delivers him vegetables she’s grown herself for his cooking, which the pig demon appreciates immensely to the point where he uses her as an example of hard work to MK whenever he slacks off his job…which is a lot. Even she’s not spared from his constant yelling when it comes to all the recent chaos she’s dragged in, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s just as protective of her as he is of MK.

Tang: Lan easily bonds with Tang when it comes to trying not to get dragged into danger as much as possible, the two sometimes acting as the brains of the group when it comes to being the only sane people in general. Though, it doesn’t really stop her from actually getting annoyed at him whenever he suggests running away when things get too messy.

Sandy: Lan immediately befriended Sandy on their very first meeting when she saw that not only was he a true pacifist, but also incredibly therapeutic with the number of cats he owns and the exceptional tea he brews. Whenever she gets too stressed or is simply having a hard time trying to find peace with herself, she’s always quick to go to him for comfort, and the blue giant’s more than happy to brew her a fresh cup of tea for her issues (even if she can be a little too…intense with her anxiety).

Sun Wukong: At first, the Monkey King was perfectly casual with her when they first met and even let her play with his fellow monkey friends on Flower Fruit Mountain when he saw how attached they were to her. But as Lan’s powers get stronger and her dreams get weirder over time, it’s not long before she starts to suspect that he may have some kind of connection to her previous life…

Red Son: To say that they did not have the best first impression of each other would be a major understatement. Only five seconds in, the demon prince proceeded to burn her beloved flowers in front of her, right before he started chasing both her and MK around all over the city like a lunatic during the pilot. Fire and plants were never meant to mix well, but who’s to say things will turn for the better over time? (Fans of the “Opposites Attract” trope here?)

Demon Bull King: Was not above including her in his targets to destroy when she accidentally awakened her powers and used them against him as soon as he was freed from the Underworld. The only reason he decided to spare her and instead focus on capturing her in the beginning was because of his wife’s suggestion…along with her history with the florist’s previous life.

Princess Iron Fan: The former celestial maiden seemed to recognize Lan upon first sight, her suspicions being confirmed when she accidentally awakens her powers in front of her. Whatever history she has with whoever Lan was in a past life seems to be important enough for her to convince her husband not to kill her, instead urging him to take her as a hostage instead to utilize her powers for themselves. At least, in the beginning…
