i’m currently *obsessed* with the scene of rayla and callum talking on the storm spire. Callum’s face the entire time is literally HEARTBREAKING and the colors and lighting are gorgeous. Plus the soren callback was funny too and all around, despite being pretty short, I think it was my favorite scene the entire season

One of my favourite details in that scene is how it parallels Rayla approaching Callum on their first morning together in 1x04 and their last morning together in 3x09 (which already paralleled each other). A worthy edition to "Rayla walking up to him with a legs shot" trifecta I think

And even the way he mostly seems despondent and tired and his face only falls after she says "certain death" like girl!!

How she crawls around to see his face and asks if he's okay and is the only person in the season to get an initially honest answer of "Not really" instead of a "Yeah" that quickly crumbles

The way she references the time he saved her / their first "I love you" in the spot he wanted to first confess to her to, before Soren interrupts (yet again) with so much more being left unsaid now

The way they now sit the opposite way that they did on their first morning in 1x04, too! Now Callum has his legs kicked out more with Rayla cross-legged - they've become so much more like each other even after their time apart (and even during their time apart) and it drives me insane!!

It's so good and I love it so much

Waited until after the strike week to talk about this but I had like a whole post about how we should be positive about the new ATLA and then uh.

We got the Percy Jackson special. Shitty live action movie. New streaming adaptation that promises it will be more accurate and well written and what the fans want. And then it comes out and it's... not that.

Well at least we can go back to the trailers and pretend the show's not out yet while we enjoy the vibes presented there.

Porter is absolutely trying to guide Fig into switching her paladin oath and warlock contract to the unnamed god of rage. Thank god Siobhan at least clocked the giant connection this episode. Ancestor oath? Ancestors who probably also worshipped the forgotten god? Ok sir. I don’t trust you as far as I can throw you.

The real answer for Fig, by the way, is not that she’s dedicated to Kristen or doubt or Cassandra or rebellion or rage. She’s dedicated to friendship, which is its own kind of contract and oath.

I think the IH finally noticed that random students having a deeply angry reaction to them is not a bit and may be mystery connected. The fact that Quincy started exhibiting rage after Fabian used Fig’s bardic also feels significant to me. I still think the curse is connected to wrath as much as pride, which also has its own hellish set of armor.

Brennan and Ally improvising as Buddy and Kristen was so good. The way that Brennan captured a kind of fundamentalist rejection of responsibility and Ally let Kristen’s anger and religious trauma shine through. It was really impressive. And I keep turning over the connection of unnamed god is associated with rage and summer- Sol is the god of the sun- Buddy lets Sol get angry for him. I don’t understand the connection yet but it’s there somehow.

Did everyone forget that learning how to plane shift into gems was literally a huge plot point of sophomore year? Where the hell is Ayda when you need her?

Lou made me laugh SO hard this episode with Fabian’s failed attempts at flirting with Mazey and his choice of poop punishment. Truly unhinged in the best way.

Baron in the preview for next week! I can’t wait.

This season is so good. I just love the way the themes are suffused through the mechanics (stress leads to rage) and the mystery and the role play. The pacing of the way clues are rolling out feels just right. Just *chefs kiss* all around.

My Adventures with Superman EP 4: Design Works

My goodness it feels so strange to see these designs two years later but I actually had a hand in Clark, Lois and Jimmy’s gala suits in episode 4 of My Adventures with Superman!

This happened WAY back in Sept 2021 but during my first week on the show I jokingly sent a piece of art to one of the design leads and well, one thing led to another:

This is kind of running gag with my work, but I somehow always predict things when I draw fanart haha. I truly didn’t know there was gonna be a gala episode and now I was tasked to do a pass for the main trio’s gala outfits.

CLARK KENT

Naturally since it started with Clark, he was the first one I did a pass on. I actually really like men’s suits design so this was the most fun to design out of the three. Overall, I drafted up four different suits that gave 4 different feels for our soft boi. Option A was a full 3 piece with slick backed hair (which honestly now feels very Bruce Wayne than Clark haha). Option B had a high school prom feel, Option C was more business casual (hence why his dress shirt was unbuttoned at top) and finally Option D was sleek turtleneck & suit combo. Honestly, I was rooting Option D ‘cause I’m a sucker for a turtleneck but if I  remember correct they went with Option B ‘cause it felt the most Clark. But just know I tried haha.

LOIS LANE

Lois’s outfit was quite challenging since I had no clue until I was given the assignment that she’s Korean (yes, Lois is canonically Korean in the show). I remember the design leads Jane Bak and Dou Hong showing me a rough concept of a modern hanbok. I spent so many days researching hanboks and the construction behind them...it truly was a learning experience for me haha. It was quite challenging trying to create and outfit that spoke to Lois’ heritage while still keeping her energy. This was my very first pass but I think ultimately the team did a great job to hone in the final look and balance both elements for her outfit (the backless top is just chef’s kiss). Also yes, I did try giving Lois slick back hair haha.

JIMMY OLSEN

There isn’t much to say about Jimmy’s outfit (sadly I left the production to work on Spiderman Freshman Year before seeing what they decided on). But from what I remember, I specifically was looking at men’s outfits from the Met Gala from that year and before (I think Chadwick Boseman was the biggest influence for me at the time). Though I think his final suit design aren’t like too far off from my initial thoughts, it’s still super cool to see how it evolved into the final look!  But yeah! Just a little behind the scenes on the work I got to do on the show. Again, super brief since Spidey was calling my name but I truly had so much fun getting to design for this show. MAWS was my first ever time doing design work (since I primarily work as a 2D animator and board artist). I was so nervous but the team was welcoming and taught me so much! I really have to thank Dou Hong and Jake Wyatt for taking a chance on me and allowing me to draw hot anime characters for a DC show haha.

I'm just going down memory hill with looking at old photoshoots and this is the cutest one I think they ever did! Look at angel! She's stunning and sooo adorable smiling like that! Also her hair in this photoshoot just aces. Colin looking cute as always. Katie is gorg ans so smiley. Loooook at Bradley! I Just....ugh. it's so good. Chefs kisses all around. I love the whole photoshoot and should just go and post all the pics I have from it without the weird commentary. Hahaha perhaps another time. What a great cast truly award winning. I love them all so much. I already knew I was bisexual when the first episode aired but let me tell you, solidified it for me. 🤣

What about Lucifer and Adam going to some royal event and it's the first time they go as a couple.

Adam is actually behaving well enough, making polite-ish conversation with someone.

Then Lucifer hears it. Someone saying basically how they think his and Adams relationship is a joke and how they don't respect the sinner but yet THEY wouldn't mind being alone with him. "He looks easy enough"

Lucifer knows first hand, Adam is many things but easy is not one of them.

Everyone was worried that Adam would make a scene at the gala, but turns out it's LUCIFER who makes a fucking scene, defending his relationship.

Anon I loooooove that. Yessss. I think, Adam can actually kinda behave when he wants to lol. Maybe he still curses, but is at least, y'know, socially aware enough.

But yesssssss Lucifer having absolutely no PATIENCE for slander, especially about Adam is nnnghhghgfgf *chefs kiss* love that. LOVE ME some possessive and protecting Lucifer. Especially because he would just not fucking care about whoever it was that said that. He's the king of Hell bitch, and you don't go badmouthing his relationship or his... whatever Adam is at that point.

Oh man..... ballroom party chapter, we truly are collecting all the adamsapple shoujo episodes, huh?
