Wait! Isn't there a single person who understands how gaster speaks? Nobody? Really anyone?
Actually Sans can perfectly understand Wingdings and other skeletons could technically also understand him
It's just any other type of monster that wouldn't be able to understand him
Must be frustrating...
But he's got other ways to communicate
He can talk on the regular undertale font all the other characters use for certain amounts of time, if he puts some effort in it
(This is based on the fact that Sans can change font for short periods of time in undertale, so maybe other skeletons can too!
Also, in Deltarune, the voice we assume is Gaster is talking in the regular undertale font, not wingdings.)

Summary: Their first meeting was not a happy one.
HUGE CONTENT WARNING
Hey folks, this is a rough one. I mean it. Edge is not in a good place and by the end of the fic, he's still very much not in a good place. I really think it's only acceptable to end where we end because we already know for sure that it gets better. (We're in the past; we already know what the future holds for him.) Anyway, we're dealing with suicidal ideation--portrayed from the POV of the suicidal person--and to the very last line of this chapter, it does not go away.
Additional content warnings for violence and off-screen (unnamed) character death, but the suicidal ideation is the big issue in this one. Please be careful with yourself and only read if you're in a good mental space.
I won't be hosting the story here because of the content. I feel better about keeping it exclusively to AO3.

Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Frisk & Sans (Undertale), Frisk & Papyrus (Undertale), Asriel Dreemurr & Frisk, Frisk & Toriel (Undertale), Alphys & Frisk (Undertale), Frisk & Undyne (Undertale)
Characters: Frisk (Undertale), Asriel Dreemurr, Toriel (Undertale), Alphys (Undertale), Undyne (Undertale), Papyrus (Undertale), Sans (Undertale)
Additional Tags: Hanahaki Disease, Platonic Hanahaki Disease, Angst and Hurt/Comfort, Angst with a Happy Ending, Found Family, Big Brother Papyrus (Undertale), Nonbinary Frisk (Undertale), Selectively Mute Frisk (Undertale), Major Illness, Terminal illness if not treated, Child Frisk (Undertale), may i reiterate that this is a platonic twist on hanahaki?, It's kind of a mystery, because no one knows why frisk has hanahaki (or who is causing it), each character gets a chapter, too many relationships to tag, (all of them are platonic except for undyne/alphys)
Summary:
“You idiot! Why are you doing this to yourself, you dummy? There’s a surgery to fix it, isn’t there? Go get it!”
The words fell out of Asriel’s mouth, but despite the caustic bite to them that reminded him too much of his time as a flower, he didn’t take them back. Because SOMEONE needed to knock some sense into Frisk!
Frisk furrowed their brows and looked at the crushed purple flowers in their hands. And then they shook their head and let the petals fall to the ground.
Blood and saliva dripped from their lips from when they hacked up one of their lungs not even a few moments before. Inflamed red sores filled their mouth in a way Asriel never wanted to see again.
—
Butterfly weed, forget-me-nots, snapdragons, black-eyed susans, purple columbine, buttercups... and purple hyacinth.
The hanahaki came hand in hand with Frisk's reset powers, and it ebbed and flowed as Frisk's loved ones forgot them and then grew to love them once more, repeating time after time. But this was it—there would be no more resetting. Frisk's powers were gone...
And one case of hanahaki remained.

The idea that Entry 17 is a True Lab security cam footage during Gaster's experiments while he was reciting what to write in his own entries (also SPEAKING in hands but WRITING normally) and perhaps one of the two others present being an assistant who writes/translates his coded speech into something legible.....is messing me up big time.
I'm not saying I liked all of this video, there are points I completely disagree with. I personally believe Alphys wrote all visible entries, created Flowey, and though doesn't know Toriel personally, knows OF her existence. Other than that though, kudos to this person for adding a twist to this story. The 2 DT experiments is vague since I assume ALPHYS coined the term NOT Gaster, but I also like to believe Gaster made/designed the extraction machine, so he knew of the existence of it. I mean we have to assume he knows of it if he has ANY relevance to the future plot w Souls. Idk, timeline is weird.
Now I'm really thinking the times we read legible Gaster dialogue it's him typing/writing vs speaking to us because we don't hear his garbled voicebit...interesting.

Before I knew anything about twisted wonderland, one of the first characters who caught my attention was Sebek, who is still my favorite. The reason why I liked him so much was because I had this idea imbedded into my brain that Sebek sounded exactly like Papyrus from undertale.
Every single time I write for him, know what he sounds like in my head.
