I think usuk would be as appealing and popular as it used to be if Arthur’s character wasn't transformed into a one-dimensional tsundere twink and people actually explored the freudian complexities of their relationship in the historical fashion of the legendary mithrigil and puella_nerdii on LiveJournal. The only people who currently know how to actually write Arthur and Alfred’s characters are, respectively, FrUk and Rusame. FrUk because they make Arthur a normal person, as much as a retired empire can be a normal person, and Rusame who's interpretation of newly minted hegemon boy-wonder Alfred coming into power, (overshadowing the old world, while retaining that boyish uncertainty and insecurity because of his youth) is really appealing. This is all MY opinion, of course, but that's how I see it!!! Anyway, yall should check out those two writers, absolute legends, I hope they're doing okay in life

I'm rereading TLT because I have horrible impulse control and i will never get over the stark contrast of the Lotus Casino scenes of both the movie and book
Because movie Percy's like:
Percy: *high on lotus flowers having the time of his life* This is amazing~
Poseidon: *godly whispera in his brain* Percy you're in trouble get out of there
Percy: Oh sh*t he's right! We gotta go
Meanwhile the absolute perfection book Percy goes:
Percy: *while playing games* Oh man I having a great time! I feel warm and happy and relaxed and safe and enjoying life! I have not felt this amazing in years!
Percy:.....
Percy: something's horribly wrong
