Ollie pushed her luggage to the side, his eyes tired behind a pair of blue light glasses. His hair was smushed a little from the drive over to the airport, but he looked handsome as always. 

They were back in Italy, Ollie starting training again before the Canadian Grand Prix. Aubrey had to go back to New York, catch up on classes and deal with auditions and bookings. 

“Don’t fall in love with some Manhattan fashion guy,” Ollie pouted, tugging her into him, cradling her head and waist. 

“Don’t be dramatic, babe. I’ll see you in like, a week and a half.” She sniffed into his hoodie, but she felt her heart carving itself out of her chest and wedging into his already. Nearly two weeks with Ollie, all tanned, shirtless and happy…now back to the sweltering, bustling city without him. She wanted to cry a little. This sweet boy made her life so much more, so abundant. It felt like time, almost. She knew that he loved her, and she most definitely loved him. But he knew her and he wanted to take it slow so she wouldn’t be spooked. She adored him for it. 

He must’ve felt her tense because he pressed quiet kisses into the crown of her head, smoothing her hair away from her face. 

“I can’t wait to win in your home country. Promise you’ll text me when you land?” He pressed one more kiss into her temple tenderly. 

“Okay, I will.” 

With one more squeeze, she rubbed her eyes and entered into the terminal, waving once more at Ollie.

I saw the pride art and I just have to say that I love that your characters have their own identities outside of the mc, seeing "playersexual" characters is so... Sad, idk. Like being queer is a huge part of our identity, it shapes us, the way we're raised, what the world expects of us and how we fail at those expectancies, just to find there's more to us than to conform. Sorry for the rant😣 I came out to my dad a while ago and seeing characters that shape themselves entirely based on the mc feels a bit like erasure😞 ty again and happy pride! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Oh my gosh no I love this ??? I could write a whole dissertation on the whole concept of quiet vs loud queer representation in media, and you totally nailed the importance of the loud part I wanna write about! I think quiet rep has its importance and place, especially when queer people want stories that aren’t necessarily centered around their pain, a story type I believe everyone should get. But especially in a story like this which already is about sensitive subjects, I think it’s so genuinely significant not only to highlight these identities, but just talk about them! Know you’re not alone! That you’re not crazy!

Putting labels on that isn’t exactly the most necessary thing in the world, I think us folk learn to put less emphasis on them as we learn more about ourselves and others, but the significance of those words as terms to build community are super significant! Especially when marking down what experiences can be seen in one, but not the other! “Playersexual” ROs definitely have their place, and I’ll certainly never knock being able to romance whoever, but I agree, it’s a lot more engaging when I get to talk about what’s defined my experiences, not just lump it in with the norm :)

I'm gonna go in order (like from when they told him about the pregnancy to when the baby is born) pretty much.

(let's pretend) Tom and the baby mama made a little box with a baby bodysuit that said "uncle Billy" and a pregnancy test to surprise him with.

when Bill opens the box he doesn't realize, but then he reads the bodysuit and sees the pregnancy test, and it hits him.

"aw you guys didn't have to get me anything!...what is this? uncle Billy?...WAIT!! WHAT??"

his jaw immediately hits the floor

he would hug his brother first and tell him how much he deserves this child

he would cry rivers and lakes from the joy 🥹

"I'm so happy for you guys, you truly deserve it!"

he's so excited!

he would obviously respect the (future) parents' privacy, but he won't shut up at the same time about how much he can't wait to meet this baby!

I tend to draw her as warmups for traditional art or when I’m in the mood for more action style poses ! Her design is the one I’m most proudest of (I say that as if I’m not always happy drawing my silly little favs) and it’s always a joy getting to draw her little braids and chunky armor. Tho metal is still something I’m improving on- I LOVEE DRAWING HER WITH IT !!

In the foyer of the minor family mansion, looming large and ominous against dark paneled wood, is a floor-to-ceiling portrait of Gun.

This is Pete’s first time seeing it. He must have walked by it earlier without realizing; he wouldn’t have noticed it on their way out either if Macau hadn’t come to a screeching halt in front of it.

In the portrait, Gun sits tall in an ornate chair, smoldering cigar hanging from his fingertips, expression brimming with arrogance. The narcissism of it — the centering of this house’s power on its patriarch, with his sons nowhere to be seen — is not unusual for a mafia mogul like Gun. Pete loathes him for it anyway.

Pete glances at Macau, whose gaze is fixed on his father’s face, and then down at where Macau is thumbing restlessly at the lighter in his palm. The gesture is familiar; the lighter is Vegas’s. It was the only item the doctors found tucked away in the tatters of Vegas’s clothing, and Macau has not relinquished it since. Pete has numbed himself to the sight and sound of it flicking open and shut, matching time with the beeping of Vegas’s heart monitor as he and Macau keep vigil on opposite sides of Vegas’s hospital bed.

The click of the lighter echoes in the cavernous foyer, now, sharp and eerie.

“Macau,” Pete blurts out. He hefts the box cradled in his arms. “I’ll go put your things in the car.” And when that earns him no response, he mumbles, “I’ll be back.”

He staggers out of the foyer and down the front steps to the car, leaving Macau to his thoughts.

Pete’s own mind, fractured and worn from weeks of poor sleep, swirls with thoughts of dead fathers. They leave themselves behind in empty houses and littered beer bottles, in stacks of yellowed photos and stacks of debt, in bruises, old and new. Their specters are impossible to shake, even without massive portraits to contend with.

Pete hopes Vegas won’t keep the portrait if he… when he wakes up. The love sons have for their bastard fathers is a curse, but Vegas will not see it that way, not for a long time. Vegas will want to keep the shadow of his father close. He will not be able to help himself after a lifetime of chasing Gun’s approval.

Better the shadow of his father than the real thing, Pete thinks darkly.

He slams the trunk of the car shut, turns back towards the mansion and then, even through his daze, the scent of it is thick enough to choke — smoke.

Fire.

“Macau?” Pete yells, sprinting up the steps and rushing back into the foyer. Alarms blare in his head: Macau is in danger. He has to keep Macau safe for Vegas. “Something’s wrong, we have to get out—”

He skids to a stop.

Macau looks over his shoulder at Pete, face inscrutable, silhouetted as he is by the burning, blazing portrait behind him. The lighter glints as he flips it round and round between his fingers.

The flames crawl up the portrait, eating away at its domineering presence, incinerating Gun into worthless ashes at his son’s feet.

hey how have you been? :)

honestly had a lot of lows between this year and the end of 2022, and my mental health is still a rollercoaster I can't control, but I also played a ton of cool games and had some fun times with friends, so 👍
