I'm crying laughing, the DVDs are even worse than I remember... Season 1's menus are silent with a single static jpg of the same key character art they use for everything else, and the episodes on the Season 2 discs don't even match what's listed on the box! Absolutely stunning lack of shits given. Truly unparalleled. But I really shouldn't be surprised given... well... everything about how this series has been treated since the very beginning.
Time for a quick ~✨PHANDOM HISTORY LESSON✨~ to give newer/less hyperfixated folks more context for why the graphic novel being as great as it is is such a HUGE deal:
Danny Phantom was one of Nickelodeon's MAIN cartoons, in its time. It was a central pillar. One of the top three or four of their lineup, which is saying something when the competition includes the cultural juggernaut that is Spongebob.
Despite this, and despite its superhero theming making it perfectly marketable, it got basically ZERO official merch.
What little we did get was often ugly and very, very cheap. The dedication at the start of the graphic novel that jokes about collecting the Burger King toys? That's because it was some of the most notable merch the franchise EVER had. (I sadly do not have any of it. There was no BK in my hometown. Here's a pic from the internet, though, to give you an idea.)
Tumblr media
If you think I'm exaggerating about that being the most significant physical merch to come out of the series, consider that the first video game had an entire menu option specifically for the Burger King promotional tie-in:
Tumblr media
That video game, by the way, was one of only two ever based on the show. The first was an adaptation of "The Ultimate Enemy" in the style of a short sidescrolling beat-em-up, and the second was themed around "Urban Jungle" and (as far as I can tell--I've only played the first couple levels) was an arcade-style scrolling shooter. Both were for the Gameboy Advance, and both are...... fine, as far as cash-grabby video game tie-ins to kids' shows go. This was pretty normal for the time, so I suppose we did okay in that department, actually. They're not GOOD, but they're playable and have at least a bit of effort put into them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But besides those two video games (plus a handful of simple, long-defunct Flash games on nick.com)? In the decade and a half since the show ended?
Nothing.
No books, no games, no comics, no web shorts--unless you count mega-crossovers with every other Nicktoon (a la Nicktoons Unite), or soulless promotional material like "Fairly Odd Phantom" (which, trust me, despite being the first new DP animation in over 10 years was not even worth the effort of watching).
...I think there was a limited edition FunkoPop once?
So yeah.
A Glitch in Time is not just the first cool, well-made thing we've seen from the franchise in a while. It's the first THING we've seen since the show. PERIOD. And arguably the first worthwhile supplementary material to EVER come out of the show, depending on how you feel about those GBA games and the Nicktoons crossovers.
This franchise is widely beloved even now, almost 20 years after it first aired, and it feels like that fact is now, finally, FINALLY getting some official recognition.
PLEASE read A Glitch in Time. Tell other people about it. The series--no, the fans--deserve this (and more of this, if the folks in charge see enough of a response and decide to grace us with any followup). It's LONG overdue, but better late than never.

hello! I saw you collect books on werewolves and I was wondering if you had any werewolf novel reccs?
Oh boy do I!
Here are some of my favorite werewolf novels:
The Wolf in the Garden by Alfred H. Bill- This book centers around a young man whose life gets upended at the arrival of a mysterious French "gentleman" who is totally not a werewolf.
Red Riding Hood by Sarah Blakley-Cartwright- Valerie is in love with a woodcutter, but she is betrothed to the blacksmith in her town. Her problems only get worse when a giant wolf begins terrorizing the village. YA Novel.
Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King- In this short book, each chapter is each monthly full moon that a werewolf is attacking people in a small town. Who could it be?
Wolfsong by TJ Klune- Ok, So I just started reading this book, but its amazing so far. It follows a boy named Ox who becomes friends and maybe a bit more with a family that moves in close to him that has mysterious ways.
Artie and the Wolf Moon by Olivia Stephens- Artie finds out she comes from a family of werewolves and must soon learn to harness her powers, and fight vampires. Graphic Novel.
Mooncakes by Wendy Xu and Suzanne Walker- You've got a witch and a nonbinary werewolf who team up to stop a growing evil they know little about. Graphic Novel.
The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories by Angela Carter- This fantastic selection of short stories features a lot of fairy tale retellings, several along the lines of Red Riding Hood. My ultimate favorite in the collection is the last one- The Company of Wolves.
I hope this helps!

Humanity faces its ultimate threat as the Precursors unleash a new wave of devastating Kaiju assaults on Earth in Pacific Rim: Final Breach! After years of failed attempts to enter the Anteverse, the trans-dimensional realm from which all Kaiju emerge, Jake Pentecost and Hermann Gottlieb conceive a daring last-ditch plan whose success hinges on finding legendary Jaeger pilot Raleigh Becket—the only human being to ever survive behind enemy lines. Living in exile off the grid, Raleigh must choose assured annihilation or confront his past and team up with a new generation to pilot the brand-new Gipsy Destroyer, the last Jaeger standing. Tensions escalate and old wounds reopen as the PPDC finally crosses the breach to confront what lies on the other side… It’s time for humanity to meet its true enemy and cancel the apocalypse once and for all.
Pacific Rim: Final Breach is a three (3) volume graphic novel sequel to Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim Uprising that will pick up on the franchise storyline and take it in bold new directions. The Pacific Rim: Final Breach collection will be written by Joshua Fialkov (Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender) with art by EJ Su (Transformers)!
Details on the graphic novels:
Graphic novels sized at 7.5"x11".
Approximately 120 full-color pages per graphic novel.
Three (3) covers to choose from (standard and Kickstarter-exclusive variants).
All cover versions are available in both softcover and hardcover formats.
Through this Kickstarter, you will be able to pre-order all three (3) volumes of the graphic novel, which will ship as they are released, tentatively in October 2025 (Volume 1), Fall 2026 (Volume 2), and Fall 2027 (Volume 3).

Library Trade Haul Roundup post!
I already talked about The Old Guard: Opening Fire, but onwards to the rest!
Hawkeye: Private Eye by Kelly Thompson, Leonardo Romero, and Jordie Bellaire. I already touched on some more general thoughts here, but to talk more specifically about this book, I thought that it was fun. I liked the private eye premise of it all. Coming into this primarily because I was interested primarily in seeing more of the creative team at work, I came away knowing Kate BIshop more (which I suppose is the purpose of a solo...). Anyway, this was in standard graphic novel size like the upcoming DC compact collection (or whatever it's called) so seeing the size of it and how it worked was also nice.
Pretty Deadly vol 2 and Pretty Deadly: The Rat by Kelly Sue Deconnick, Emma Rios, and Jordie Bellaire. I'd read Pretty Deadly volume 1 previously and I think I should have read it closer because I came out of it going 'I'm not entirely sure what the story of this was but it was a very pretty comic.' I do feel like I understand what happened in these two better. Pretty deadly continues to be a very pretty comic. It has a lush quality to it that's always a pleasure to read.
X-Men Red vol 1 and 2 written by Al Ewing with an artistic team that changes enough I won't list them out. These were grabbed off the shelf because they looked cool and as the first X-men comic I read it was a wild ride. My previous exposure to the X-men was watching X-men: Evolution as a kid and this was not that. I'm over here like "krakoa? resurrection protocols? Why isn't Xavier in a wheelchair?" This series features x-men are on Mars which is named the dune-esque name of Arako and is also habitable now for some reason. Anyway, these kicked ass and each volume had multiple 'oh shit' level moments and it got me interested in checking out just what is going on in more current X-men comics.
The Authority Book 1 by Warren Ellis, Bryan Hitch, and Laura Martin. This is a book for people who enjoy watching extraordinarily competent and powerful people kick ass and save the world from various huge threats and I am that target audience. Jenny Sparks is very cool and I met her just in time to watch her die :( This was my first entry into Wildstorm and it's got me interested in reading more and checking out Stormwatch (and reading more of Jenny).
Captain America: Red Menace Ultimate Collection by Ed Brubaker, penciled by Mike Perkins and Steve Epting, and colored by Frank D'Armata. I am continuing my Captain America by Ed Brubaker read at last (needed to wait until I could check this physically out of the library.) I care less about Sin as an antagonist but Steve and Bucky coming together in the finale was so good. Slipping back together into partnership like nothing had changed but Bucky can't stay when it's done ;; Next up are the civil war tie in issues.

hii! could i request a cooper day fluff? maybe reader and coop are friends and end up confessing their feelings for each other whilst listening to music in his room (bc i feel like that fits with his vibe)
thank u 💕
warning: language
summary: short short wholesome read the ask because that’s what happens in this. not edited and reader is strong willed and ultimately mecore
“she’s so right, nothing does compare to a quiet evening alone with you,” i taunted at him. i’m not really sure how this came about, me and him, being as close of friends as we are.
i can’t even remember when we first met, he was just around a lot, and eventually we grew some type of bond between one another. for instance, we had the same taste in music and fashion, which is enough to base a friendship off of.
crushcrushcrush by paramore played over his cd player and he had settled into his bed with a graphic novel of some sort, something worth teasing him over due to how nerdy it was, and in the meantime, i found myself on the floor of his bedroom, for whatever reason, it was more comfortable than his cheap desk chair, so i didn’t mind it too much.
the day has come and passed us yet, a doctors appointment in the morning and a dinner with his family i had to endure until it was just us alone together again, as we so often are these days.
“is it?” he responded rather weakly, obviously not really hearing me. i know i tend to talk too much about anything and everything, and he does try his best to hear me out for what i really mean, but at the moment he was too invested in the book he held.
“yeah,” i collected myself up off the floor and stretched out my limbs wide into the air like a star. he stole a quick glance my way but acted as though he didn’t. back to his book went his eyes.
i came closer to him, sitting on the side of his bed and carelessly laying back, resting on his blanket covered middle.
“ow, you’re squishing me,” he whined and poked my forehead but i refused to break.
“oh deal with it, you big baby,” i stared up at the ceiling where there wasn’t anything, no decorations, just the barren white color the rest of his walls are painted, and you would be able to see had he not put posters wall to wall everywhere else. i was about to point it out to him, ask him why he chose to do that, seriously, i was on the verge of spewing the words from my mouth when he beat me to it.
“do you really like hanging out with me that much?” he didn’t look up from his book but i sensed he was jittery.
“huh?”
“when you quoted the lyrics in the song. is it true? do you really like being around me all the time?”
“of course,” the room was cold and it was autumn so there was good reason for it.
he fell silent and i let him.
“why, do you not?” i sat up and made direct eye contact, like i was about to scold him for his potentially negative answer.
“no, i do, trust me, i do.” he still wouldn’t look up from his book so i decided to break out my best attention grabbing tactics.
“so, are we in love now, or what?” never breaking eye contact once, he didn’t look away.
“well i know i am, i don’t know about you.”
my own plan worked against me. now i was the one bamboozled. “wait what?”
“you heard me.” i could not stand this for a second longer so i ripped the book out of his hands and placed it open face down on the sheets next to me, ensuring he wouldn’t lose his place.
his hands now empty, he sat up. “i’m serious. i like you. i really hope you like me too, since things are gonna be weird if you don’t, but if you don’t, it’s fine, you don’t have to.”
“wait, no, i do. i like you too, yeah, i just, i don’t know, i didn’t know if this was like… that kind of thing, what we have. i thought it was more we just stay friends for years and ignore whatever else is happening between us,” i rambled to him and he reached out and grabbed my hand to hold in his.
“i wanna be more if you wanna be more.”
i nodded, happily, with a stupid big smile on my face, “yeah, yeah, i’d like that a lot, actually. so, what? do we like make out now or something?”
he shrugged, “maybe,” and picked up where he left off in his graphic novel. i laughed and shoved his shoulder, laying back down. what an asshole.

i've received SEVERAL asks in the last week for me to drop a fic rec list. im assuming a bunch of it is people getting into the phandom via the graphic novel. i've been wanting to put together lexx's ultimate fic rec list for a hot minute, and have been collecting fics to do so, but i wanna make sure i don't leave anything out.
i also literally just moved states yesterday so i've been dealing with the packing/unpacking thing, as well as everything else that comes with moving (seeing old friends, family visiting, Boxes), so yeahhh that's kinda my life atm.
anyway, just wanted to say that I SEE THE ASKS AND WILL ASSEMBLE MY FIC REC LIST. it just won't be till next week!

So, I got some lovely surprises today from my mom. Granted, this isn't all of it. I'm waiting for Sonic Unleashed and Black Ops 1 and 2. So, that collection isn't completed yet. Yet after all these years, I actually have the "Hunter edition" of AVP 2010.
Considering I loved the game as a kid, and it was going for a good price, and I always wanted it since I was younger. Especially that steel book case really got my attention. Also, the added bonus of the original AVP comic series made into an updated graphic novel along with the Facehugger makes it even better. Along with the free DLC I can download hopefully.
But sadly, the Facehugger...which is a bummer. Also, it didn't come with the box, but that's fine with me. Hopefully there's some glue around I can use to fix that tail so I can set up that little guy as part of my collection. Even though I feel like it may be tricky.
Also, finally got the Bioshock: Ultimate Rapture Edition out of the plastic bag. THE TITLE WASN'T KIDDING AROUND.
Edit update meh, the code didn't work. But honestly, that's fine. I could just buy and download it. But still, I could try it again. Yet realistically, this is a 14-year-old redemption code. So, what would be the point?

It’s absolutely astounding how much more I enjoy Star Wars as an overall franchise when I engage with Extended Universe & Legends Era projects that aren’t the shows or films (exceptions being Andor & Visons).
Even in regards to the Disney Era, so many of the most compelling writing & stories come from several of the prose books/short story collections (ie Alphabet Squadron & From A Certain Point Of View) and comics (ie many of the Darth Vader graphic novels).
On a lark, after putting off reading my copy for so long, I finally decided to read the often praised Star Wars Legends novel Darth Plagueis via Audiobook on YouTube and, despite watching the sequel trilogy in theaters, the audiobook was the most engaged & invested I’ve been in Star Wars as a storytelling playground since Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars back in 2003. The book is brimming with engaging characters & fantastic rich writing & plotting.
Now I’ve moved on to the YT channel The Archivist Publishing & its Audiobooks for Tales of the Bounty Hunters and the truly outstanding novel Death Star which is an incredible ensemble drama about the compelling lives of multiple characters either willingly, conscripted or outright forced to work on the 2/3rds constructed superweapon. It covers a gamut of perspectives from icons of Imperial command like Tarkin & Vader, to political prisoners of the Empire forced to apply their skills to the Death Star’s construction, to rank & file guards & pilots steeped in worship of the Empire eager for reassignment to the doomed battlestation, and even several individuals from discriminated species simply looking to eek out a semblance of a stable life under the thumb of the Empire. The book is absolutely overflowing with intrigue, magnetic & complex characters, spectacular worldbuilding & just generally terrific writing.
Ultimately, as someone who gravitated more towards Star Trek as my mainstream space scifi franchise of choice for years, I’m glad to finally get truly engrossed in the Star Wars universe & franchise earnestly rather than keeping it at arms length & only watching most of the post-Original Trilogy content out of social obligation to listlessly follow the zeitgeist instead of real interest. And as such I highly recommend that anyone who wants to truly see what can be done in this universe beyond the multitude of mid & low tier live action content we’ve gotten pre & post-Disney or simply just want to read good space opera fiction, definitely check out the Star Wars Legends-branded books & short fiction collections as well as several of the modern Star Wars comics.
