Here's a little snippet of the first chapter I'm working on for Fiona's story.

Screaming. Screaming was all around her as the heat of the fire could be felt all over her skin. The smoke filled her lungs as she took giant, fast breaths. As she stared up at the sky above her all she saw was the black smoke and the blazing light of the fire as it destroyed the town. Tears were streaming down the side of her face and into the dirt, mixing in with her blood.  Pain.

happy wbw!! what are some of the natural beauties/areas of your world? or famous landmarks if you aren't interested in venturing out into the wilderness? are they popular? are they dangerous? did something historical or legendary happen there?

I think the most beautiful thing in Faery is the night sky in the celestial court. In constant twilight, the skies wink and dance with stars too enchanted by the celestial faeries to keep their distance. Their colors arc through the skies, like our Northern Lights--if those colors were also a song. Like sirens to the sailors of old, the stars are doing their best to entice celestial faeries out to join them, to become part of the starry dance forever.

1) What is your favorite period of history to learn about?

ahhh idk bc i’ve always lowkey hated history but i think that’s just how it was taught to us, recently i’ve started learning abt working class history and like the history of social movements and thats actually interesting shit!!! but also means i dont really ever go further back than like… the past 2 centuries. so modern history? 

failing that i’m gonna be a cop out and say the french revolution if that counts and if not shakespeare’s time. or the Romantic era. basically any period which aligns w my other interests 

3) Do you tend to overthink?

YES!!!! overthink every think

4) If you were to write a book, what genre would it be? What kind of atmosphere would it have?

ohhh my godddd okay so like. everything!!!!!! like. if i had the time/dedication/energy/intelligence/creativity/etc i’d ideally like to write smth in the style of like 1800s Romantic literature where it’s not about the plot but about the Symbolism. and the characters all Represent something .and it makes a Point. but also… i don’t think i’ll ever have the resolve to commit to something like that knowing my opinions on stuff could change so… like that but with uncertainty!!! does that make sense? no!!

it’s a tie between dirty dancing and pride, the emotions those films make me feel,,,,, man

Red Gold takes place in modern day New England so all the normal landmarks you’d find there are also ones you’d find in the story. BUT there’s little hidden parks, like Wren’s Woods where - of course - Wren lives and Cameron moves to. And there’s several of the all over the world, each one the domain of a different godling. It used to be that each watched over a giant expanse of land and all the things that lived there, but as magic died out and humans moved in with their infrastructure, those lands grew smaller and smaller. Some disappeared entirely. 

Wren takes very very good care of what’s left of his territory. The trees are unnaturally tall thanks to his powers over the earth and there’s always some sort of wildflower in bloom no matter the time of the season!

I finally updated Break Away! My god I can't believe it's been nearly two years since I posted the first chapter of this. I need to get better at updating my stuff.
