Can creators/aspiring creators join the UnderNet Prtocol?

hmm... that's a good question!

I'm going to say that if creators find the code for it, they can observe, but they cannot directly interact with it. let's say it's... a compatibility issue...? (we're too four dimensional? haha i don't know)

I think it's best if it stays as an in-multiverse thing, if that makes sense. (also if Admin knew that creators could use it, he'd lose his mind and start annoying each one hahaha)

like of people doing dumb stuff yet it's absolutely hilarious, the ones that (usually) are a little bit reckless?

say y/n befriended the majority, if not all, of the underground. the way that the monsters know of y/n is usually laidback, respectful. so they're cool, calm, and collected, if you will. the calm before the storm, even. hasn't caused any trouble, is a delight to be around.

also say that they have their own undernet account, courtesy of the royal scientist, alphys. on their account, they friended their other friends; alphys, sans, papyrus, undyne, napstablook, mettaton, even muffet and grillby, as well as the majority of snowdin and such. maybe here, y/n convinced alphys, after a bit of explanations, some negotiations here and there, to update the undernet to include stories (yk like insta stories, assuming they did not have that feature), or not, doesn't really matter, normal posts and stories would give the same result possibly

in this case, i like to think of y/n growing a little antsy of the lack of action and bafoonery that they could do.

so, they begin soft-launching their usual antics, stuff that they did before falling to the underground. not saying that they MISS the surface, other than the night sky, sunrises and sunsets. y/n is quite fond of the small life they had made for themselves in the underground, and wouldn't really trade it for the world. but anyway,

they begin posting on their undernet account. some would describe them as... odd maybe, due to the nature of the photos posted. they start off small, photos of them in shopping carts in the middle of a random parking lot. a picture of a traffic cone with a... firework next to it? that raised a little bit of eyebrows, but it is still rather tame. you guys know those abandoned tunnels that have graffiti and were used for raves nd such? yeah there's a photo of y/n in one of them. maybe with some stupid ass captions like "alright who let grandma out the nursing home" or like something idiotically cryptic like "the truth comes out soon." now THAT has heads turning. replies start spilling in like

"grandma????????" "what truth???" "what are u planning??????" these poor citizens don't know what they're getting into

who knows, maybe y/n got a little ahead of themselves because of impatience. so then they just drop the videos of them doing dumb stuff, because "life's just too short. let's play spin the bottle but whoever the bottle sets on, gets to set off a firework and throw it at their friends who are running away from the one who got picked."

yes, that's the video i saw that generated this idea.

so y/n is basically lore dropping on their unsuspecting monster friends, who are either laughing it up, or very concerned for their good friend's wellbeing (mental and physical) the videos range from that firework fiasco, to other shit like running into a stop sign with their face, racing in shopping carts, just overall some good ol' tomfoolery with their friends above ground. yeah y/n misses their friends dearly, but there wasn't much they could do. they caption the posts with "i would like for everyone to witness the person that i was before i fell down here lol. im aching for shenanigans."

the y/n the monsters are now viewing in the posts, are practically a complete 180 from the y/n they encounter on a day-to-day basis. unfathomable, but the proof is in the pudding once they witness whatever y/n has in store. the next post is actually a rather cool photo. a 0.5 pic, flash on, at night, y/n sitting in a shopping cart, left leg over the side, head leaning a little to the right, shades on, blunt in hand, joint between their lips😈

now, due to the nature of the videos, they posted more examples, y/n is not an idiot. so what if they fucked up a bit of the surface, it's the surface. what they are NOT going to do, is mess up the underground. y/n is still that respectful human the monsters know and care for. y/n is would not wreak havoc on the unsuspecting citizens of the underground in their own home. no, that's reserved for when they do emerge to the surface. when that happens, BACK TO THE PARKING LOT🗣️

you know who WOULDN'T?? and is instead rather concerned yet can't really do anything about it so they have to hope and pray? sans. sans may be lazy and carefree for the most part, but that doesn't mean he can't be concerned. he cares too much for y/n, he won't admit it outright, it doesn't seem like he needs to because basically more than half the underground can tell because he's just sweating buckets whenever something even remotely mild happens when involving y/n. sans doing damage control, making sure they don't get horribly injured or dies, he still has that promise to keep.

V-Lustale (Virtual Lustale) is an AU of underlust. On the outside, monsters are very reclusive, awkward or shy—It's quite empty in the underground since most spend all their times indoors, and while the underground has a purple tint, there's nothing inherently sexual of it.

However, on the UNDERNET, near all monsters are constantly online. Rather looking at explicit works, doing NSFW stories with each other (though anonymously.), or even steaming on 'Only-Monsterz', they're addicted to the fantasy, the escape online in their virtual world after the underground has long since fell into a depression.

Frisk, an eighteen year old sexual abuse survivor, falls into the underground in an attempt to take their own life. With Rosey. (a previously very sheltered child) and the spirit of Chara. (A troubled youth) Frisk needs to help the monsters build a healthy relationship with reality, sexuality—And heal from their own trauma.

The Pink Clawed Eclipse

You know, in all the storyshift takes, versions and whatnot, I NEVER see anything done with Mad Mew Mew, which is weird considering her direct connections to MTT and Blooky in canon, you'd think she'd have a more prominent role cause of that. This led me to havin' an idea for what MMM could be like in Storyshift, involving a small bit of reboot's lore and acknowledging some of her subtler connections in Undertale Mew Mew didn't have much to do in her free time, most of the time she just sat in waterfall, pondering and grieving... not like she had anyone to go back to, everyone was either dead or... well the one who was around had better people to talk to than her. They probably don't even remember her for the better honestly But, sometimes she'd venture on down to Snowdin, and at the very end of the forest, there was a door. And a "Overly loud rattling voice" behind it, but that wasn't so bad, not that she finally had someone to talk to... to accept her. And he enjoyed her too! They had so many conversations together Eventually, she noticed that he seemed, quieter than usual, so she asked what was wrong "TELL ME, HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT HUMANS?" ... this wasn't a question she was expecting. She wasn't exactly a fan of them but... she didn't hate them either. Human's couldn't of been that bad her cousins were able to befriend one... "Well, they're alright I guess, why you asking?" And so Papyrus explained the events that had transpired to the friend he trusted ...turns out, a group dubbing themselves the "Solar Warriors" had killed a human he'd adopted after they were moved to be with Sans to be protected She was appalled to hear this, someone had killed the princes child.. who CARES with they were human it... WHO DOES THAT?!? And was... No one going to object to their actions? To call them OUT for murder?!? Even if it was a human, surely breaking into the THRONE ROOM is against some sort of law, right? Just cause they're part of a little group shouldn't absolve them of any crimes... ...well, even if others are just willing to ignore that for "the sake of freedom", she isn't. She's getting answers. It didn't take long to find out who was involved or where they where situated (pretty easy to look up articles on the Undernet about what happened.. at least once you know it did) and soon enough, she confronted them at waterfall She was furious and god was she letting it be known, how AWFUL and REVOLTING they were When she asked the warriors why they killed a human despite the fact that both Royals had given her the a-okay to live, she was met with "IT'S FOR THE GOOD OF THE KINGDOM" "IT'S FOR OUR FREEDOM!" "WE'VE WAITED FOR SO LONG!" "IT'S WHAT THE GHOSTS WOULD'VE WANTED!" "YEAH, WE DID IT FOR THEM!" Hearing them say something so WRONG about both the royals AND her cousins... it sent her over the edge These... "warriors" weren't seeking justice or freedom, and this wasn't even about revenge. They just wanted a reason to kill humans, and were willing to use ANYTHING to excuse either actions ...even lying to someone's FACE about what their family would've wanted... And she. wasn't. having. it These people want to act like they're above consequences do they? Well two can play at that game... And she is MUCH better at it than they are Countless screams. Boundless dust. All washed away by the stream of murky water And yet. She couldn't care. Why should she care about a bunch of "no name" liers and murders? She could go back to doing...whatever it was she used to do... ...but what if it happened again? What if they tried to kill another innocent under these hallow excuses? Who would hold them accountable then? ... Guess she just found something else to do in her freetime... and something that'd finally let her atone for failing her family before...

...and there's a certain human in Snowdin who very much does appreciate the "pink clawed eclipse"'s vigilantism.

NJ!Underswapped is my take on an Underswap AU, and the most important swaps are: Frisk doesn't swap Flowey ↔ Mettaton Toriel ↔ Muffet Papyrus ↔ Undyne Sans ↔ Alphys Monster Kid ↔ Chara Asgore ↔ Gerson

The characters (Except for Mettaton and Flowey mostly, they are very different because of how the story is, and neither of them are actually who they were in Undertale) do not change personalities (With how much I could do this, some characters are changed a bit just because of me not being able to write them completely accurately and others have been changed intentionally, but in that case, there is a lore reason to why they are changed), with the characters they swapped with, but rather only situations, roles, ect. So for example, even though Papyrus swaps with Undyne, Papyrus is still the happy, enthusiastic skeleton that loves puzzles that wants to become friends with the human, just that he happens to be the leader of the royal guard now instead.

Under this cut will be some lore stuff to get you started on this AU:

Character Descriptions:

Mettaton is a robot, and is the dust of a dead monster fused with the code of the robot, along with DETERMINATION, and thus, his personality is the combination of that dead monster, along with the code he was written with. He was written to be an entertainment robot, and therefore loves to put on a show no matter what he is doing.

Muffet has taken over about half the ruins and changed it into The Spider's Den, which is a safe haven for all spiders in the underground. She would do just about anything for money, that she uses to make life even better for the spiders that live with her.

Undyne lives in Snowdin, and she wants to become a royal guard, however Papyrus reluctantly decided not to let her in because of how violent and hostile against humans she is. She is trying to become better at making puzzles and become less violent so she can join the royal guard, however she is not succeeding very well.

Alphys also lives in Snowdin together with Undyne, and she is trying to help Undyne become better at making puzzles and such, so she can help her girlfriend achieve her goal of joining the royal guard eventually. In her spare time, aside from watching anime and chatting on undernet, she is very into science and makes different kinds of inventions.

Papyrus is the leader of the royal guard. He believes that every human should get a chance to prove themselves and not be attacked instantly. This idea is not very popular amongst a lot of other monsters, however he still keeps to his morals.

Toriel & Chara both live in hotland. Chara fell down the mountain a few years ago, right after the amusement park on Mt. Ebott had been opened, causing a lot more traffic there, and they believe that most if not all humans are bad because of their background. When they fell down, they told the monsters this, and first most monsters didn't believe them, since all humans who had fallen down before had been peaceful, although it was a lot of time since the last one. But then, another human fell down into the underground and wiped out the entire area known as the Wild East before being stopped, and most monsters started to believe Chara, and hostility grew against humanity. Toriel has taken Chara in to live with her, as they are just a child. Toriel is overprotective of Chara and doesn't really let them leave long from the house.

Sans is the royal scientist. He spends a lot of time trying to bring back the old royal scientist who disappeared. He also uses his position to try to find new things that could help make life easier for his brother Papyrus.

F.L.O.W.E.Y. is a robot currently being made by Sans, that is going ot have the purpose of protecting Papyrus once it is done. It is at the point where it can move around and follow it's prime objective, however it is not yet functional enough for Sans to have sent it to Papyrus.

Gerson is the king of the underground. The queen, Ms. Boom, died a while ago, and he does not have any kids. He was alive back when the monsters lived on the surface, and when Chara came down and said that all humans were bad, he didn't believe it, but eventually, after almost every monster seemed to do so, he allowed himself to think that too. He still does have hope that it's not true though, which is why he elected Papyrus as the leader of the royal guard.

General Character Lore Part 4:

If you asked the average monster what the biggest technical advancement monsterkind made while still underground was, most would tell you it was the core. A massive feat of engineering prowess, the core loomed over Hotlands and provided energy to all areas of the underground. There was not a single life it didn't touch, combining ambient magic and geo-thermal energy in a massive collider and energy storage device. If the core went down today, it would still contain enough energy to keep the lights on for everyone for 90 days - or nearly a year straight with clever rolling blackouts and other energy reduction techniques.

Even so, Wingding could not take all the credit for it. It took Sans' theory, and years of tinkering on smaller scale models with Alphys for the final design to be born - he was just the unlucky bastard forced to attend interviews and ceremonies for it. Alphys begged him for a pass and Sans.... well Sans was Sans - try to drag him somewhere he doesn't feel like being and the asshole just *poofs* away.

While the most well known project of his career, the most funded and the best received, the core was not his favorite project. He would smile for the reporters and tell them what an honor it was to work with the Royal Science Commission - how proud he was to be on the esteemed team - all day if he had to. No one really needed to know about his favorite, nor did anyone really care too much about it anyways.

From concept to the first launch, Wingding Gaster had spent the majority of his life working on the old UnderNet. No, not the glorified message board - the original UnderNet framework, including the servers that host the damn thing. if only he had been more assertive about making them pick a different name It served as a framework for all of his future projects: performing calculations for his work, running models of his projects, simulating outcomes of his experiments, and storing the massive amounts of data his work created. His being the operative word in the description above. WD Gaster has never been one to share his work, especially not a piece that was so important. Even so, there are things he is willing to trade for, and Alphys' specialties are one of them.

And so the deal was struck, he provided his theories and designs for a device that could fold material and magic, store the target in a sub pocket in the electro-magic field generated by the core, then allow it to be retrieved with the push of a button. In exchange, Alphys would have a dedicated server for number crunching and whatever else she wanted to run on his framework, along with credit for the release. even now, his pride insists that was his first mistake

That was not too special - yes it is convenient and yes when Alphys released it the device was wildly popular but that was a mere shadow of his real goal.

Everything made of magic has an expiration date. Unless more is added at regular intervals, any construct made of magic will disappear eventually as the magic loses stability and returns to a resting state with the ambient magic around it. Scans of the barrier indicated that no human mage had ever returned to add magic - content as they were to lock monsterkind underground and throw away the key. Even with the power derived from their seven souls it was clear the barrier would fall on its own eventually.

Yes, all calculations showed it was due to fall in approx. 99999 years.

Monsterkind had been trapped roughly 1,500 years ago, so it would only be another 98499 years until they would be free! Long lived as monsters are, longer lived as boss monster are, it was becoming clearer by the day that they would be extinct by the time the barrier fell.

Since the day the prince fell down, the day Asgore declared humanity to be their enemy, the day things became kill or be killed, monsterkind has done worse than stagnate. Content as they were to sublime themselves anyone with eyes could tell this could not continue.

Even so, he and his brothers would see the sun. They would not be turned to meaningless dust by this place, they would not disappear into nothing, they would not WOULD NOT fall here. He had promised it foolishly but he meant it - WD Gaster would find a way for them to make it. Not just until after the barrier fell either, no they would do better than survive to see the surface.

The king's plan of going to war with humanity didn't work for his parents and with the way things were going it was clear it wouldn't work the second time either. Sure they could probably get 6 more souls in less than 98499 years, they already had one, but with the way things were looking by the time the seventh soul was collected monsterkind would be a shell of the proud people they once were. Even if they lived that long, Asgore's philosophy would get the rest killed within weeks.

But what if they didn't have to follow the king's lead? What if they weren't relying on collecting human souls to break the barrier? What if there was a way for them, not the future generations of monsterkind but this generation to wait it out? If only there was a way to press pause on the underground until it was time for the barrier to fall...

Like most of his brilliant ideas, it began simply.

Make a simulacrum that could comfortably contain the minds and souls of every monster in the underground. It must contain the minds and souls, but because of the core's limitations their physical bodies need to be separated and sustained or the loss would kill any monster who tried to leave. He would control the parameters of the simulation, offering lots of variability in things to do and places to see to prevent... well insanity. He would also establish the rules to ensure no one would harm each other - not that it would do much good to try once he turns off pain reception and chemically inhibits their anger.

Yes, this idea was becoming very, very interesting.

It took years of work, years of lying to the king for funding for "a better way to keep human souls in stasis", years of lying to Sans on what the project was and what he needed to have built, years of... not going home as often as he promised BUT it would all be worth it. He'd do whatever his brothers asked of him, once he fixed things, once they were safe, once it was under his control.

The theory was proven with the storage of inanimate objects - he'd done all manner of tests; they went in and returned as if no time had passed at all for them. The simulation was built, the device for uploading souls and consciousness alike was functioning as expected (unfortunately, the Aaron who graciously volunteered could not be released back to the underground - his sacrifice in the name of science would be remembered), and the stage was set.

All that was left was to try it for himself, then he could solve everything for everyone - he is the royal scientist after all, what is his purpose, if not to find solutions?

SPARRING!!!!

Undyne uses her spear attack and she's so fast and hits so fucking hard, but Gillion's best block ability is to hit faster and harder than the other guy so he kind of takes a beating before he gets used to her fighting techniques and starts using haste or calling lightning

he thinks her long distance strikes are sick as hell and she is so impressed by his divine smite ability they're both like "woah can you teach me that" about each other and then they're both like "FUCK YEAH I CAN" about it, it's awesome

and she's hot blooded and he's cold blooded and they discuss preferred water vs air temperatures and food temperatures bc that's very important and he visits her and he's SO impressed by her hot fridge and he's like "Chip, Jay, we need a hot fridge!!!" and theyre both like "absolutely not"

Currently replaying Deltarune and I accidentally got so fond of my "Papyrus is the player" crack theory that its a real theory to me now

It makes no sense, but humor me for a moment

Strange things began to happen when Sans and Papyrus moved in and we've yet to see the guy. We know that he's fond of the Undernet and has a computer in his room in Undertale, so we can assume the same thing here

The intro to deltarune starts off asking if we are connected, and well. He could've gotten this program from somewhere shady or something but he has it and just booted it up and is playing

Since he's new in town, he wouldn't know that the characters are real and since 90% of it plays in the dark world, it's easily passable as just a game

Well, at first anyways. Kris can meet Sans and obviously Papyrus can't explain that away so I'd like to think that he takes the role of Flowey here, he's got a certain power/program and wants to help Kris/the town with it and Kris is conflicted but ultimately relents because they need him right now

So it's like a collaboration!

Some of these things cross over with the Papyrus is the knight theory of course, and maybe he is that as well! But the player being kept out of the loop means that the two theories can't be feasible in the same continuity

The player is familiar with the world of Undertale and while I'm not sure where the timeline for how Papyrus deltarune and Papyrus undertale would be placed, I still think it's a neat concept, easily debunked perhaps, but still neat!

Papyrus is a homebody but his desire to make a positive change for everyone could very well make him the player :]

Like this all reminds me of when a character has no idea what to do but they have an earpiece that's connected to a person/people who do who watches over everything happening from a computer room and they try to help them manage any interactions, and who better for Kris than the puzzle master Papyrus?

Also another absolutely dumb idea but I like to think that Papyrus deltarune and Papyrus undertale instead of necessarily being the same guy but universe hopped, are linked through the soul in some way or whatever and they can communicate somewhat like @/spectacledraws makes gaster undertale and gaster deltarune facetime regularly, which would explain the familiarity that the player exhibits towards some of the characters in deltarune

@under-lore Your debunk of the hundred-year-gap theory doesn't hold ground.

To begin, you go through the theory in the wrong order. Yes, of course using Sans’s one remark about “a hundred years” is an absurd jumping off point. I’ll come back to that later, but to simplify, the theory begins with assuming the numbers on the end of the Undernet usernames are the last two digits of the birth year. You dismiss this as a baseless assumption, and while you’re right that it is an assumption, it’s perfectly reasonable and certainly the best explanation for why there would be numbers there. This is common practice on social media.

I’ll skip past the part about monsters aging differently, because it has nothing to do with my point and looks solid enough to me.

Here we get to the first issue:

…what??? How does that make sense? Just because monsters biologically age slower compared to humans doesn’t mean the actual number of years is different. Even granting that childhood for monsters may be longer (which it doesn’t seem to be; Burgerpants is 19 and looks as much alike to a human of the same age as he can be), a monster born in 2090 would be 20 years old in 2110, regardless of their physical appearance. That’s basic math.

You provide some evidence that Undyne was around in 201X. It’s far from definitive.

Number 1: Undyne is a police officer, Asriel is off to college, therefore Undyne is older than Asriel.

That’s it? What? If the implication here is that Undyne would’ve already had to go to college, then wrong. You only need a high school diploma and at most six months of training to be a police officer, so Undyne could be younger. And that’s assuming Asriel went to university as soon as he could.

Number 2: Undnye recognizes Toriel

She doesn’t mention her by name, she just pieces it together from the physical resemblance and the fact Asgore’s crying that the goat lady must be the former queen.

No, this dialogue is not remotely unclear. “there” means close to the listener, i.e. Frisk, i.e. that specific flower patch. “here” would’ve been ambiguous, but that’s not what the dialogue says.

As for the bit about the monologue, all you’ve proved is that Undyne hasn’t been in the Royal Guard that long. You still haven’t provided a reason why Undyne hasn’t met a human before, and at least two have made it past her house alive (Bravery and Patience). Regardless of whether she was officially in the Royal Guard, if she heard there was a human in the Underground, she would’ve definitely joined the hunt.

So to recap on Undyne, it’s completely possible for her to be younger than Asriel in Deltarune, she only finds one patch of golden flowers remarkable, and she’s never seen a human before despite the fact that two have gone right past her house alive. This leads me to conclude that her birth year is 2095 or later.

Now of course it doesn’t necessarily have to be the 2090s. It could just as easily be the 2190s, or the 2290s, or the 3090s. However, due to the technological limits you mentioned, and there only being a typical city where there was still a village in the 2010s, coupled with Sans’s hundred-year remark (which is not the starting point but rather a final puzzle piece generally interpreted as a clue left by Toby and by no means Sans knowing anything about it), there’s the strongest case for the gap between Chara and Frisk being about 100 years.

You do make a point about the fact that TVs and consoles from the 20th century would be rare collectibles by 2100, but some of that trash could’ve been there for a long time. Heck, original NES controllers were already valuable antiques in 2010! Even if it has only been a few decades as you suggest, those shouldn’t be there if it’s recent trash. Also, waste from Chara’s time probably would’ve been at its peak assuming humans generate less waste over time.

That’s pretty much the end of my debunking of your points, but I will bring up this one last thing because it really bugs me:

You already put aside any possible effects of animal resemblance earlier.

And then you go on to use spider lifespan as part of one of your arguments.

Okay but I love that there’s some better elements than others across the different Megaman NT Warrior/Rockman EXE media. The manga has some neat lore, as does the anime, as does the game. I really don’t like each one on their own exactly so I can just appropriate aspects of one into the others. In my canon the Undernet is freaky (like the games) and has a power-based hierarchy (manga). Shademan has a palace (from the anime) there. 

And I really love the idea of the Darkloids established in the anime where they made themselves from data, rather than just being Evil Navis.

I haven’t asked you a question for a long time! (and the question itself) Has UnderNet Gaster ever been in such... quarantine au? (au which are infected with a virus, or some kind of parasites?) such as Goretale?

Long time no see!

As for the Q:

I think he definitely would've come across a few on his travels. I can't think of any specific AUs off the top of my head (except for Fresh), and I don't see much information on Goretale. So in general, how events would play out depends on a few things:

a) The virus/parasite attacks his SOUL. But it wouldn't work because he doesn't have a SOUL. This is best case scenario.

b) It attacks his code directly. He should be able to edit it out, as long as he's still able to use his pen (he can't if the ability is removed somehow, or he can't summon his extra hands/pen). Worst case scenario is a virus that changes his code.

c) It takes over his mind / sanity. This is second worst case scenario.

d) He dies! This one's okay because he can come back.

In fact, I think Admin would probably only visit AUs where the risk is (a) or (d), since he can brush that off rather easily. Since he can view the code, I think he'd be able to know before going too far into the AU.

Admin absolutely doesn't want a (b) or (c) scenario. His desire to survive is stronger than his desire for information in this scenario. He also tells Exec not to visit these areas. His survival is very important to Admin too.
