I hate reminding myself about this, but I gotta get it out of my chest before it comes back to my mind and gives me a headache at a bad time.

I think what really really gave me a lot of disgust towards the Dororo 2019 fandom, besides the increasing amount of transphobia and occasional ableism, was the fact that their attitudes towards Dororo's character changed so drastically after the "gender reveal" that they just ignored his actual importance to the story.

The moment the audience found out about Dororo's gender, a lot of the fandom's perception of Dororo's role as a main character and his relationship with Hyakkimaru's went from being a child war survivor and being sworn brothers/in a genuine partnership to being a "damsel" and "possible love interest" (It was bad enough that Dororo is very obviously a small child and lot of people were very lax about the fanon groomy behavior. Very distressing, in my opinion).

The whole experience with the fandom came off not only as transphobic, but also incredibly misogynistic and predatory towards Dororo's character.

No matter how many times I go back to the 2019 anime, for the purpose of trying to enjoy it again, it is often times ruined by other people percieving Dororo as less than what his character was meant to be, someone to root for in a survival story and watch grow up into his own person.

was going to try to make progress in one of my many sonic games i havent finished today but then i remembered the wii still isnt set up to work on the new tv and im too lazy to do anything about it. so i guess i will just die

passing cars flick glowing retinas over curled-up bodies deep down in the ditch. we were not made for fluorescent lighting and the world at night seems far too bright than the gentle beams from our childhood cars dipped low and slow, shining just for us. and we held out our books from the back seat and we hoped to catch licks of yellow light like fireflies as it flickered by, then bedtime under orange streetlights. they cradled us in their hands like mice. we were the future, and they wanted it bright.

the bench in the classroom flickers red-pink-clear and the words on the whiteboard fall into numbers and squiggle falsely under squinting eyes into rabbits, badgers, dormice, hares, a foreign language to the brave new world, and a strange look on from the weary teachers, who watch the world as it plays the river and selfishly erodes its own riverbanks, but were stuck fast in the net early on and have to watch children play in the dirt a little less for every generation that passes. we squirm together like fish under fractions.

we are the new deer caught in headlights and you will find us at the side of the road hunched and bleeding, dazzled and cold.
