CORNTALE - SHOP SIMULATOR is my own tiny mini lil sim game! :D
It was made as a project for my software development study to show off what development skills I learned during the first half(?) of the first study year! Made using Unity Engine.

FINALLY! The game is complete and ready to be released for free on Itch.io!
Although I was hoping to release it in August 2024, there were some complications, but today it is finally ready!
It will be available in both Spanish and English. Originally, it was written in Spanish, with many Argentine expressions (especially from Carlos). I did my best to preserve its essence in the English version.
Additionally, it contains a large number of references (similar to the game Veronikka’s To-Do).
Only a few final details on the website and Itch.io need to be finished, and then it will be ready to play!
The goal is to complete everything by the end of this month.
Once it’s ready, you’ll be notified! In the meantime, here are more images from the game!

Honestly, fuck Unity. They’re done for, no matter how much they backtrack their reputation is going to be permanently stained, and completely deserved too. This might not be a problem for, oh I don’t know, AAA’s, but this is going to kill the indie game scene, and already devs are planning on removing games. Cult of the Lamb im pretty sure, and I’ve heard about Rain World considering too, and I don’t even know what’s going to happen to silksong. There’s more too, this is just the big ones being talked about mainly. Go and rant somewhere online, even if you don’t care about video games or the internet at all. The more people talking the better.

Basically any indie game you can think of is fucked. Bloons, Ultrakill, big chance whatever game your thinking of was made in Unity. On top of this, Unity is also fucked. So much big companies make stuff in Unity they are bound to get a lawsuit by one of them. Anyways, thanks to the Unity idiots for ruining basically all of my favorite games. I sure do appreciate it.

in Vapor Trails, you meet Tunnels Greg. he is a large, sentient tunnel-boring machine that has broken down sometime in the last few decades. his head falls off and you help him put it back on.
he gives you his internal wayfinding system because he wants to forget that he’s ended up down here. it becomes your area map.

Since Unreal and Godot are the two main engines people are talking about in the wake of the Unity disaster, I’d like to make a case for Godot that I haven’t really seen much yet. Godot does have its disadvantages for sure- it’s got a bit of that open source jank in places, and not being able to export to consoles will probably be a big issue for larger indies- but Unreal also has a massive disadvantage, which is that Epic could easily do the same thing Unity is doing now. Especially if Unity’s fuckup gives them a de facto monopoly as the go-to indie game engine. Will they? I don’t know, I hope not. But, as free and open source software, Godot couldn’t even if they wanted to. It is, and always will be, free to download and free to use. The issue isn’t just that Unity decided to fuck everything up, it’s that they even had the power to do it in the first place. So if Godot is viable for whatever project you’re considering migrating, I would highly recommend looking into it.

Right now you can only use your bike in the overworld, and it would probably break the game if we let you use your bike in the spirit world...
