5. Hi! I'm looking for a fic I read a while ago. I tried looking under the WWX & LQR or the Good Uncle LQR tags on AO3 but can't find it.

It was a Cloud Recesses arc AU, and something made LQR have a change of heart about WWX (maybe morals, maybe time travel, idk). He talks with WWX about why he is acting out and starts teaching so WWX is actually challenged in class, which makes him thrive. A lot or all of the story was from LQR's pov.

I remember a specific part where LQR sees the guest disciples practicing sword forms and realizes WWX is purposefully under performing. He is doing just a bit worse than JWY, to make JWY seem the most talented. LQR reprimands WWX because training improperly will lead to bad habits that endanger himself and others on nighthunts. WWX immediately improves his form. Later LQR discusses WWX's progress with the instructor and says he should spar with LWJ. The instructor thinks WWX has improved, but not that dramatically. But LQR knows they fought the first night of lectures. So LWJ and WWX have an epic spar where WWX stops holding back and goes all out in front of the class (possibly with LQR and LXC looking on from the sidelines).

However, Jin Ling was born mortal despite immortal parents so WWX casted an array that transferred his immortality to Jin Ling and died in the process. NHS became a victim to the array due to JGY's machinations. WWX is then reincarnated and becomes A-Yuan's dad and grows up in an orphanage with NHS as his brother. Later on, there's a whole thing where LSZ, LJY and Ouyang Zizhen is on a field trip where a cave collapses on them ans they achieve immortality. The abovementioned immortals (other than WWX and NHS) kidnap the juniors to guide them through immortality but in doing so, forcefully separates WWX and LSZ. Jin Ling feels bad for them and helps them escape from the immortals. He meets WWX and realises that he's alive and reincarnated, that leads to everyone finding out that WWX has been reincarnated. Later on, they all get kidnapped by JGY and XY threatens to torture LSZ so WWX volunteers himself. There's a whole thing where NHS dies in his second life but that gives him back his memories of immortality, so he calls NMJ and they all plan to save them. At the end, JGY kills WWX with a gun but they are unaware that WWX is still alive and just got back his memories.

I've done a lot to distance this blog from its image as a pure Penders drama blog in spite of the URL I swear I originally chose as a joke, and I'm only talking about him again right now because the book is out. (And also because the claim that he can reprint all of Archie Sonic, even Ian's run, is just... SO cartoonishly evil for a guy who's claimed to be a champion of comic creators' rights.)

But people REALLY play up their hatred of the guy. It's a meme at this point. Any time any goofy out of context thing from Archie Sonic gets posted people are like "ugh, Penders!" People love to argue with him endlessly on Twitter and spam his replies with random images and brag about getting blocked like it's a badge of honor. People talk about how he should be in jail, about how he "looks like a pedophile," about how much they want Sega to sue him into destitution. Fans misremember basic facts of the lawsuit to make Archie out to be totally innocent, and then no one wants to do basic fact checking because who cares, right? It's very tiring.

There's a reason why I don't follow him on Twitter, don't interact with him directly, ignored his agent's request to interview him directly, don't post updates on every little thing he tweets, and focus on his creative work and the legal drama instead of digging into his personal life, only bringing him up when there's actually news. At a certain point it stops being criticism of him as an artist and a copyright troll and just devolves into gross lolcow shit.

Q. I can't believe this needs to be explained to people in the year 2025, but having feelings for someone doesn't mean love and definitely doesn't mean being in love with someone. Of course he loves Eddie in a particular way. Eddie is his best friend and brother. Forcing yourself to see it as romantic is a delusion entirely of your own making. The show is not telling that story and it couldn't be more obvious. You all need a reality check immediately because it's embarrassing at this point.

A. There is a growing part of me that is starting to believe that many of you all are 100% just trolling because it's simply not possible to be this stupid. If the thing between Buck and Eddie seems brotherly in any way to you then you need medical assistance because if that's how your brothers behave with one another something is drastically wrong.

analyzing kentaro miura’s words on casca’s recovery

Below I’ve attached three separate screenshots of translations of a 2019 interview done by Young Animal ZERO magazine with Kentaro Miura on the topic of Casca’s recovery and revival. These aren’t new of course, but I want to discuss my reaction to them, and also discuss how I think they fit in with the current direction the story has taken with Studio Gaga’s chapters.

Finally, I’m not 100% sure what this is. It seems to follow from the above screenshots, but it’s not clear if this is just kojion’s interpretation of the interview response, or if this is specifically something Kentaro Miura said. I messaged him on twitter to ask, and I’ll update this post accordingly with his response!

This interview response was, no exaggeration, like a balm on my soul to read the first time I saw it. With how prevalent rape is in Berserk, and with how long it took for Casca to be revived, I admit I couldn’t help falling into this pit of frustration where I wondered if Miura even knew the extent of how awful what he put her through was. Her mental state, of course, did indicate he was aware of that - and then her revival happened, and the corridor of dreams, and I just remember being in actual tears because of how we went into Casca’s mind to show the trauma from her eyes. I can’t think of a more effective way to show something as serious as rape, genuinely. 

And then, of course, this interview response, and again I remember thinking: Wow. This author really gets it. It was the thing that really made me confident in his ability to tell the story of Casca’s recovery. 

First up, the very first part of the response: Casca’s awakening is not the end of her journey, it’s the beginning. This is absolutely, incredibly realistic. I think Miura likes to tease the audience in a sort of mean way lol, there’s the beautiful, dramatic panels where Casca awakens, and she’s put in that gorgeous fairy dress - almost like a wedding dress, you could say - and she’s sent off to have her romantic reunion with Guts... 

And lol. We all remember how that went. Miura is such a troll lmao (affectionate)(kind of).

But of course, just because she’s in control of her mind again doesn’t at ALL mean she’s processed her trauma. Guts has had years to process what happened, but she’s been completely stuck this whole time.

We know from her dreamscape that it was Griffith’s betrayal that really, truly broke her mind (I won’t include the panels here because I don’t want to CRY), and that sort of loss of trust is in no way mended by simply returning to herself. Again, then, two things that made me so astonishingly confident in Miura’s ability to tell Casca’s story from the interview: He's writing Casca as a human, who will react in a natural, human way to her trauma, and that she needs to face up to what Griffith did. This, to me, very clearly indicates that her upcoming arc is going to be focused on facing up to the trauma Griffith caused her, and this is especially hammered in by what’s happening to her currently in canon, being stuck in Falconia with Griffith and with her memories, again, magically suppressed so she can’t begin to process anything. I genuinely can’t imagine any other way for things to go for her.

One more note before I go on to my ~predictions~ based on the current chapters is that I want to highlight this panel here: 

If you follow me on twt you’ve seen me say this before but PTSD flashbacks have the person not just remembering the traumatic event, but feeling as though they’re experiencing the traumatic event all over again. Miura is aware that Casca simply regaining her memories wouldn’t be the end of her recovery but the beginning, knows that the real key to healing is processing the traumatic event, and knows that PTSD flashbacks make you feel as though you’re experiencing the trauma all over again. It’s far more sensitive than I’d expect most authors, let alone a cishet dude mangaka lol. 

SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR CASCA?

I need to admit I’m making this post because earlier I got into a conversation on tumblr with someone who claimed that people read too much into Miura’s comments on Casca’s recovery, that they don’t indicate that she’ll successfully heal, that there’s no indication from the comments that he intended to write a full deep dive into Casca’s mental state and trauma, and that for all we know this would just be a side plot a la Farnese’s growth. 

My position is that I genuinely can’t think of anything else that Casca’s upcoming storyline could be about besides her struggling with her trauma (and of course trying to escape Falconia, but in my mind those go hand in hand). I also think that I simply have different ideas about how important Casca is narratively than this person, which is the root of our difference in opinion on Casca’s recovery. 

Right now, Casca has been kidnapped by Griffith and taken to Falconia, where she is being magically drugged to suppress her memories, and her healing. Her storyline necessitates that she get away from Griffith and out from the spell currently suppressing her personality, and getting out from under this spell will mean the return of the memories she was starting to process in Elfheim. 

While it’s terrifying that Casca is away from her support system (and has been kidnapped by her RAPIST jesus christ) I actually think being away from Guts is the necessary key to her processing Griffith’s rape on her own terms. Guts is a massive trigger for her PTSD currently, and there’s the duality of her desire to see him and the likely ensuing guilt and frustration and sadness that comes with being unable to. Without his presence around her, I actually think it’ll be easier for her because there won’t be an expectation of her being with him. 

There are people who we KNOW are in Falconia and will likely be Casca’s support system, we just currently have no idea how they’ll all meet up. I know Luca and the girls will be instrumental to Casca’s story because otherwise there would be no reason to bring them back and also for Casca to mention them explicitly in Elfheim.

The other point made by this person on tumblr is that Miura’s interview doesn’t indicate that Casca will recover. Perhaps, they say, her story will end with Casca unable to cope. I think this in people’s minds leads easily into the Apostle Casca theory, which I’ll be honest and repeat that I fucking hate so much LOL. I get it in some sense, but I really do hate it as a theory. As Miura says, though, he’s writing Casca as a real person, and there are absolutely very low points in trauma recovery, so I expect her to go through a lot of strife. 

It’s difficult in some ways to look at these responses because there’s the language barrier. “she should confront what Griffith or the monsters did” and “she will now have to overcome the trauma” both, to me, seem to positively indicate that overcome is the intended outcome, but of course I’m not sure. Now, if kojion’s second tweet is a translated quote from Miura himself and not just his analysis of it, that’s kind of a smoking gun that recovery is the intended outcome of Casca’s arc, but I’m not sure one way or another. 

This is purely based on my emotional response, but I think a story where a woman is betrayed and raped by one of her closest companions, who loses her mind for years because she’s unable to cope with the trauma of the betrayal, who finally has her memories returned to her and now needs to go on the incredibly difficult and painful journey of processing this betrayal - to have her story end tragically with the result that she’s never able to recover would...

Hm. Let’s say that it would need to be handled with extreme care. It might be the thing that gets Berserk to warrant its grimdark reputation.

As a conclusion, I think this one quote has a ton of potential for analysis inherent to it, particularly for fans of Casca, who are having a bit of a renaissance on twitter right now HAHA and I’m trying to gather them on tumblr too. If you combine it with various tidbits of Miura’s chapters from before his death, as well as the continuation by Studio Gaga, it helps create in my mind a decent picture of the trajectory of Casca’s arc, though the specifics are still up in the air. 

Either way, I want to say to any Casca stans reading this that I really do think that Casca’s story is important, and will be shown as important going forward. I always hesitate to trust cishet authors for obvious reasons lol, but at least I can say that if she’s shown to NOT be important, that will entirely be on him and his sexism, and I think it will inherently make the story weaker. I don’t think that will be the case, though.

Tumblr has been working on implementing a Communities feature here, and they've gotten to a Closed Beta stage. There's more details in this post, but basically, some people will be getting emails with information about filling out a form if they're interested in a community and ideas will be selectively approved and created. There will be a community member cap while in Closed Beta, and taking part in feedback will probably be inevitable.

I'm honestly not sure if there's an underlying reason for who gets sent emails or if I was randomly chosen, but I have the opportunity to fill out a potential community form. Someone would have to approve it, and at this stage, allowing duplicates or communities that are very nearly duplicated with minor differences will probably be unlikely. Considering the tag spamming in Jumblr, I thought it might be a good idea to suggest some sort of Jewish themed Community.

If anyone else has gotten an email about creating a Community and has had this idea, I would absolutely like a response about it. (I have no idea if this is a 'first come, first serve' sort of thing, but I'd rather not make a duplicate suggestion.)

There is a note in the email that not every suggestion will be approved, and they're looking for a spread of different types of Communities. However, it also can't hurt to at least put forward the suggestion.

I haven't looked at the form in great detail yet, but it will probably ask for a name, description, community guidelines, and if the Community will be public or private.

Name: I'm not 100% sold on using 'Jumblr', 'Jewish', or 'Judaism' since those are so broad and general. However, if enough people like using 'Jumblr' or something that does seem personally broad, it's still on the table for consideration.

Description: A space for Jewish Tumblrites...? (Jews of Tumblr?) To be determined, really. (Should it be a space also open to gentile allies? Probably see the private vs public section.)

Community guidelines: Some will be the usual matters of what posts will not be allowed, how to tag for certain topics, and what conduct could lead to being removed from the comm. Specific guidelines to this comm are definitely where I'd appreciate some degree of input, though.

For example, it's entirely possible that someone interested in joining this potential Jewish themed Community will want to avoid examples of antisemitism. Does this look like a guideline about not posting antisemitic anon hate or reblogging conversations with antisemitic responses in the reblog chain into the Community? Does this look like needing to use a specific tag so other community members can blacklist or use Tumblr's filtering feature? What if someone wants to talk about antisemitism they've recently faced?

The Israel-Hamas war. Do the community members want a space free from news updates? Or would a guideline about not showing gory imagery or videos, but allowing text only updates, be alright? (Do community members want a space free from larger I/P discussions? Or as long it's tagged for filtering purposes, do they want to be able to talk about I/P without having trolls and random antisemites wander into the replies/reblogs?)

Zionism. I don't want this to be another space where people face the 'are you a Good Jew or a Bad Jew' sort of questioning. However, does this look like a statement in the description welcoming everyone including Zionists, or does there need to be a guideline about talking about anti-/non-/Zionism within the Community?

Other: I don't know what the community member cap will be in the beginning, so I have no idea whether there'll be a need for mods immediately or not. The only language I'm comfortable doing any modding in is English, so at the very least, I'd probably need someone who knows Hebrew at some point.

Public or private: I like the idea of a public community that's not dissimilar to the Jumblr tag, but you know, I'm not sure about how comfortable community members will be with a public community given the compilation of blocklists based on interacting with a particular post/user.

Not directly related but notable enough to mention: I can easily imagine that some people will not be enthusiastic that I'm volunteering for this effort. This is the main associated with a conversion sideblog, but I have not felt comfortable with revealing my sideblog, especially after October 7th. However, I don't think a Tumblr Community can be associated with a secondary account, so I can't really change that my not-really-Jewish-looking account is the one associated with this idea. If someone likes this idea but still would rather have someone else try to implement it, I guess we'll cross that bridge if we get there in the response to this.

60. Have you had a writer you admire comment on your fic? What was that like?

Several times! And it's an incredible feeling. Like a clutch your phone and giggle and kick your feet kind of feeling. @astarionfreak heavily inspired a scene in the first chapter of Office Hours and whenever she comments on my work it's like senpai noticed me lol. And @pursuitseternal is funny bc the first time she commented on one of my things it became the spiderman meme of "omg I love your work!" "No, omg, I love YOUR work!!" And then on top of that, I've found many writers I admire who commented on my work first, including @wolfywolfy and @marlowethebard. This community continues to do nothing but give and I'm extremely grateful for it.

66. How do you deal with pressure (ie. Pressure to update, negative comments, deadlines)

LMAO badly. Pressure to update is entirely self-imposed, my readers are nothing but kind and understanding about my life being a bit of a mess right now. But the problem is that I want to keep writing and I want to update. So it's really a matter of writing when I can and have the motivation, and doing my best not to beat myself up when I can't.

I'm lucky enough that I rarely get negative comments, but when they do, they stick with me. If it's clearly from a troll I just block and move on, that's usually fine. But if it's from someone who I think might otherwise mean well but it still hit me wrong? Or who had a genuinely negative reaction to my work? They live in my head rent free. Fuck, sometimes it doesn't even have to me my work, sometimes I still get mad about a comment that @moochiepoo got on a fic and get angry lmao. To deal with these fuckers who take up space in my head, I try to talk to my spouse about it, or sometimes I'll write out a response to them that I'll never send. But it's tough. I have really bad RSD and have a tendency to hold grudges when I feel wronged by someone. (Don't ask me about my former roommates who owe me $100 lmao)

Loved reading Callie's portion! As an autistic who's painfully aware of my social exhaustion it's nice to see it depicted in a character I like.

It really plays well into Calliope's character too! like, a lot of Homestuck's extended cast got shelfed for during the epilogues and while they lampshade it a bit with Callie it still never sat right with me. This makes her uninvolvement in candy's events make so much more sense (though im still desperate to know candy! Calliope's thoughts on roxy getting hitched to John out-of-the-blue.)

i always wanted to see more of Callie in the epilogues/hs2/hsbc, because yeah, they kinda get swept aside as a sort of mysterious cryptid. which, on a meta level, makes sense with the prevalence of alt!Callie as a narrator, given their desire to leave Callie out of the narration. something something cherubs are asocial you get it. but even with that being the case, Callie's a fascinating character and i want to hear more of their thoughts!

going into 3.2A, i knew one of the biggest challenges for me personally was gonna be fleshing out Calliope-- partly because i didn't have a great grasp on their voice, but also because of their aforementioned relative absence from post-canon. everyone else is bouncing off their post-canonical counterparts in some way, but Callie is a big question mark in that respect. but this is precisely the mandate of this Bridge, and one of the most fun parts of this collaboration has been honing in the unspoken frictions in their personality. it's not quite present here, but you'll see as the Bridge unfolds the ways we've chosen to emphasize Callie's alien cherub-ness. even compared to trolls, cherubs are weird and kind of unsettling! which is a great entrypoint into their character, because i'm weird and kind of unsettling myself! or at least, i was when i was 23. (i probably still am, but i'm a self-confident adult woman now which makes it sexy)

re: Candy!Roxygen, i think Callie has a benignly detached sense of humor about the whole thing. something i like about writing them is their relative lack of emotionality. godfeels runs on melodrama, these bitches looooooooove spilling their guts, but comparatively Calliope is as calm as a sphinx. so i find it interesting how they're observing people and thinking about relationships and missed opportunities, but these aren't necessarily sad thoughts. the trolls i think jokingly make reference to not understanding human society, but for Callie it's 100% true. in a lot of fiction i think a character so detached would turn sour and become cold, but Callie is the type of person who chooses to behave like the person they want to be even if they don't feel it. they've seen the alternatives (Caliborn, Alt!Callie) and aren't interested. the thing is that while it's impossible for me to imagine what it's like to be a cherub, it is exceptionally easy for me to imagine what it's like to not understand socialization even as you engage in it. as you say, this is a metaphorical representation of a particular variety of autism.

anyway i'm glad you enjoyed Callie's part in today's update, and i hope you enjoy the ones to come even more!

6. Anonymous, orphan, and collaborative works are all allowed.

7. Appropriate rating, warning, character, etc. tags are REQUIRED for acceptance into the collection. Message PTV if you are unsure how to tag your work appropriately. The moderator respects people who choose not to rate or post warnings on their work, but for this challenge, it is necessary to use correct tagging.

7a. Reasonable people can disagree on the difference between one rating and the next (the line between M and E, for example). As long as you made a good faith effort to tag appropriately, your work will be accepted into the collection.

8. Works will not be denied solely based on poor grammar, but excessive lack of proofreading/poor formatting/inhibited readability may lead the moderator to believe your entry is a troll. Troll works/hate works are not allowed in the collection.

8a. While all languages are allowed, PTV is only fluent in English. This is relevant for rule #9's purposes.

9. All works will be personally reviewed by PTV before they are accepted into the collection. You will receive a kudos and a comment from PTV upon your work's acceptance into the collection. If your work does not meet challenge rules, you will receive a message explaining why.

9a. The review process may take a couple days. PTV DOES have a full time job and family obligations IRL. If you think your work has been skipped due to an oversight on PTV's part, you may POLITELY message her to inquire. Excessive harassment of the moderator is grounds for denial of entry into the collection.

9b. Non-English works will likely be fed through Google Translate. PTV will take translator flaws into account with regards to rule #8.

10. If you have any questions that were not answered on this page, you can send an ask on Tumblr. It will be answered as soon as possible.

The youngest child of Clay and Viva and their only daughter. Uptight, sophisticated, if not a little snooty, Basil is the opposite of her twin in several ways.

Like her brother, Basil is a musician and works alongside him creating hip-hop music. It was Basil's idea to inspire their music based on the books they've read, mainly fantasy or horror novels, and turn them into raps that tell a short story about it. Basil's parts in the songs are more vocal, as she can't rap as fast as her brother.

Basil is the biggest bookworm of her family. Her room is just wall to wall bookshelves, stuffed with novels from all over the world. She even has a "library" system in there, keeping record of where all her books are.

Like her twin, Basil is a pop troll but Hip-Hop is her main passion. When they were younger, she loved listening to Conifer day tongue-twister super fast and tried to copy him. While she can't spit rhymes as fast, she loves to sing the more "ballad" portions of their music, balancing out Conifer fast-paced rapping.

Basil currently resides in the Putt-Putt Mini Golf Course alongside her parents and twin.

Fun Facts!

- Of her siblings, Basil is the only one who has her hair under some kind of control. Fern is 100% jealous of this fact.

- Basil gets along well with her cousin, Lemon. Whenever she needs a wardrobe update, he's the only she trusts to make her something good.

- Basil came up with the name for her and Conifer's band name. Their name is "Heaven and Hell" with the logo being a angel wing and a demon wing. Lots of their songs are about angels and demons, so Basil saw it fitting.

- Basil LOVES horror. Horror books, horror movies, horror games, you name it. She will drag her brother to every new horror movies that comes out (to his dismay)

If you're wondering about the owner of this account... I'm Mahina! I'm 29, I use she/her pronouns, and I'm the head librarian at this old place! We've been going strong for over 100 years and I'm certainly not going to be the one to get this library shut down. (I also do a lot of work with the community center!)

Mahina herself is pretty straightforward. A bit plain, and a bit blunt at times, but generally just a nice person who enjoys both the quiet side and the public side of working at a library! Camborghini long message coming but I just thought it would show up with you because it's funny to me. Talking to somebody who apparently has "proof" that Josh is gay.

Me: Can I ask why you think he's gay? I've personally never found convincing proof Beyond him acting effeminate to convince me. In fact it's the opposite because there was a book written by somebody that was once close to the family that claimed the dad and brother and gay but never said anything about Josh. There's also another person who worked with very closely with the family on celebrity apprentice that claims that Jared is gay too but Josh's name never comes up and I don't think I ever saw a rumors to that effect until Kaylor came up.

Them: I was linked to a post a while ago, a guy who had worked with Josh’s company. Meet him but not close, just an acquaintance (checked his credentials which matched what he said) He did become friends with other finance guys, said it was pretty well known in certain circle’s, that JK had slept with lots of men. There was one in particular, kind of an on/off situation. The person seemed to know a lot of info. Obv thats not enough on its own (one account) but given Karlie too. Where rumours are rife from those with links to modelling networks, (she was sleeping with only the female models). Her sister’s posts confirming songs were about Karile and some Diana as well as videos of her warning K and T of cameras, this was following kissgate! K looks sad in one but removes her arm from Taylor. There is too much to inc here but I went from a ‘I don’t think so’ to, 99.9% certainly after following the leads and I’m not easily swayed. It’s pretty obvious when you analyse events/timelines.

Me: Did you get the guy to make sure he wasn't lying? Like as for proof of his working at the company because I have a hard time believing that it would be open enough that people are just company would know if you went as far as to get married and have two children. Those two things seem to conflict too much to me

i've been in touch with people (and I actually vetted them) who do business with the kushners. josh isn't gay.

karlie's sisters didn't confirm anything they just liked troll tweets talking about kaylor which I assume they thought meant the friendship (because it did to some people) or they thought was funny. it was just kimby kloss and she was an awful clout chaser and fame whore. she always egged on kaylors and tried to get engagement from swifties as well.

when you analyze events and timelines you can see some codependant bestiehood with queer vibes that 100% fizzles out in fall of 2016 when taylor runs off to London and then we get a huge betrayal from karlie in 2019. that's what the actual timelines suggest and we covered this in EXCRUCIATING detail in our 9 part kaylor series.
