WICKED & UNHOLY - A CoD Zombies AU Story

Dark Aether has spread, engulfing everything it touches. Monsters, zombies, and a Dark Aether mutation plunges the world into darkness leaving only chaos in it's wake. Towards the northern mountains of Verdansk Shadow Company looks for anything that may have been left behind from the reaches of the 80’s when Adler was there. Desperate to find anything to help sway the tides of battle with the plagued undead, Velikan finds hope in the form of a village witch, supposed to have inherited “magic” from the other world. Down in ground zero of Urzikstan Nolan has been tasked with forcing scientist to figure out how to close the gates of hell and in their possession is his daughter. If he does not cooperate, Nolan will kill them and fearing for their lives, the scientist works tirelessly day and night to preserve humanity. And finally Konni is not yet done trying to take over. With whatever semblance there is left to a natural world Makarov fights. Weary of her brother’s actions, his sister does his bidding but only with the idea to help stop him. It begins with contact between her and Task Force 141 during an unlikely meeting.

I 100% don’t like writing canon x reader stuff, I tried it it just wasn’t for me. I still have that Velikan x reader smut prompt request I need to do and the only reason I haven’t tossed it is because I like Velikan and want to write something for him. So I figured out a way that might make it easier for me. Well hello there! Thank you so much for blessing me with some asks! Today the asks will be about Karina, my love who is gifted by the Aether. ♡ ask's here ★

hc + 👍 for a headcanon about things they like:

Karina likes time alone and reading, often taking moments to herself outside in her little garden curled up with a book. She likes the sun, it’s warmth, and the sound of bees buzzing along the flowers. She likes sweet breads and has a particular soft spot for paska when it’s around. She is what I’d like to call a creature of comfort and though not excessive in life, she will take the small moments to enjoy them as they are especially her favorite.

Karina does not like the cold and dislikes areas with too many people, tending to shy away from larger interactions. She does not like loud sounds, the use of violence and she has claustrophobia. What she hates most of all however is people yelling at her. It makes her feel like a small child and it hurts her feelings.

Karina and Velikan are enemies, somewhat at least. More of a “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” kind of way and they definitely explore that trope. He has been tasked with finding her and when he does, he destroys everything around her in the process causing her to dislike him right off the bat. Velikan is someone that gets it done at any cost and produces results because of it, which is why Shadow Company put him to the mission of finding her. But things go haywire and what should have been an easy retrieval job ends up being traveling across war torn, zombie infested Verdansk to meet back up with Shadow Company. During this process however they become close. They don’t share a common language (at least not that Karina knows, he doesn’t talk) and at the very least he is very rough around the edges. He picks her up to get out of the situation, sometimes it’s rougher than her means to, she fusses a lot, and even at one point she tries to runaway causing Velikan to save her from being killed. But in the end they do grow close especially after she saves him. The townsfolk call her a witch due to her knowing herbal medicines and in her pouch she has stuff that helps ease the pain so when he is shot at some point they seek shelter together to recover. When she is done patching him up she holds him and she can see his eyes through the mask, there she notices that they are softer than she expected. He is laying on her and she’s holding him, together they share a moment in the quiet. During another moment of respite they watch the stars together. She does not speak English and everything is in her language when she talks about the stars but she is enthralled by it. He listens to the best of his abilities and nods for her to continue about her stories, both intrigued and entertained by what she is saying. They are sitting close together and it feels natural in spite of everything else that is going on. Velikan and Karina often do not get along because of the situation they face but given the chance she is the care that he lacks and he is the strength that she needs. Karina has been alone for so long that soft moments are not her forte and Velikan disregards them entirely, but for one another it is very welcome.

Karina has long black hair that she keeps in a low ponytail, it’s curly and when she she is hard at work she pins it behind her ears. There’s a stray curl in her bangs that she has trouble with so when she’s frustrated she fusses with it. But it’s long and it’s shiny like a raven, she inherited it from her mother who would take care of it for her. When she passed it was easier just to keep it out of her face, plus it made her heart hurt less about her passing.

October 13, 2024 - Zaravan Exclusion Zone, Urzikstan - Konni HQ It begins with the feeling of dread, it always does. Eyes closed with a deep intake of air, it felt sharp against her lungs as she held it inward. There was a smell of dust and smoke laced with rotted flesh- it would have been nauseating if it hadn't been the norm for the past year. At this point it was almost grounding to feel the fresh air. Quietly and just for a moment she feels like throwing herself to the zombies that moan grotesquely just beyond the compound's safety, their sounds echoing so miserably against the concrete walls. It would be better than throwing herself to the wolves that wait her just down below, they were ready to tear her throat out all the same. But that was normality now- the dead plagued the streets and they weren't even the worst thing out there. The other hard reality is she wasn't craven like that, she would do her duty out until the end. It would have to kill her and at a young age that was beaten into her. She could either die afraid or die fighting and there was no room for being a coward. She may be losing spirit to do for someone else but she wouldn't lose spirit for herself, that was her father's doing. Releasing the harbored air just before she got too dizzy the woman scanned her surroundings. Sharp eyes stared for a moment longer, how blue and distant they were, and there was a hard realization in her heart. "What have we done, Yelena?" she muttered to herself with a hard frown, the slick Russian words ringing off of her tongue. In moments like these she would often reflect just how far they had taken things. Her brother had always had a certain charisma that made it seem like it was the right thing to do, sometimes even the only thing they could do. Staring off into the void of glowing purple eyes that lay just beyond Yelena could feel it biting at her heart. She knew it in her soul there was no longer a reason to continue this fight if it meant the end of humanity. But the sound of the door opening behind her ripped her from her thoughts. Standing to attention she turned and her eyes caught sight of a familiar but unwelcome sight, Yelena relaxing but still glowering at the man that had joined her on the balcony. He was tall, domineering in a smug way, and towering over her as he stood between her and the door. "Hiding up here, are we?" Nolan motioned with a roll of his shoulders. He stared at her hard but she stared back just as steely, her bright eyes not breaking contact with his own blue ones. At best they tolerated one another and at worst they would get into it, almost once having cost them the mission. Makarov made sure not to send them alone together after that point but not without a reminder of course, just to show them that they were not the ones in charge. She often hated looking at that scar, it meant she was tied to Nolan in the worst kind of way. "Hardly, I'm keeping an eye out for our safety." Yelena replied without removing her eyes, her eyes glisten up at him like a wolf on the prowl. "but don't you have scientists to keep an eye on? Or are you too busy patrolling me to care about your own duties?" But Nolan smirked, he likes when she bites back at him. "I came to retrieve you, mutt, Makarov wants a meeting."

With one fallen domino others fell into place, namely with Makarov gaining the upper hand over Task Force 141 after continuously being one step ahead. He was determined to take down his enemies and before anyone had known the west had truly been on the precipice of war. With World War 3 looming upon the horizon Task Force 141 strove to finally catch him once and for all but all it did was push Makarov into extending his reach. It began with the assassination of Barkov and by Makarov's own hand, Makarov having finally had enough of his former leader's inability to get anything done. Makarov felt that he was too comfortable in only keeping an iron hold on Verdansk and then with his failure to keep it and Makarov's own eventual imprisonment from it, well, that was enough to turn the gun on him and seize power for himself. Establishing Konni as its own beast to be reckoned with even while in prison, Makarov had taken over Barkov's plans and people when he had been broken out. After the assassination his goal to once again provoke the west was met with eagerness and was quickly set to pace, even going as far as to once again obtain missiles. This time proved a little more fruitful however and with it came even more- a dark past from the Cold War. With this new found leadership came details of something known as Aetherium, or rather dark aether, and plans for using it against the west entirely. He discovered notes from the Cold War about this unique and tide changing gift and just what properties it held. Intrigued by dark aether zombies and notes about the abilities in which dark aether possessed, he grew frenzied by it. He convinced many of the Inner Circle and with it others followed- they were to win, surely, and Aetherium was the key to this success.
