curious how blue/yellow coding for queer characters interprets shannon's death being yellow and then the hospital was blue

(please note i wrote this on my phone then it got interesting so I went back to my computer for screenshots so just stay with me) blue and yellow meta for context

I was thinking about that making that post, because Shannon is a yellow character, she's mostly in yellows and oranges in s2, which makes her have a nice contrast with Eddie's earthy color palette, she's a very bright character, vibrant colors (yellow, orange, that pink dress from the beach scene), a lot of gold jewelry, she has multiple rings and necklaces on at all times, her nails are always done, next to Eddie being very, I don't want to say muted, but like, he's still wearing army colors, accessories are just convenient things like a watch, that creates a very nice contrast between the two because they look good together but they are very different, you can see that just by looking at them.

And I like the way she's the yellow to Eddie's green, I think at some level the show tried to show that she brightened Eddie's life even when he was scared of what it meant (like in the hospital when Chim gets stabbed she is a point of color in the room), and green and yellow are adjacent on the color wheel, they are colors that harmonize well, so them being in green and yellow for the kiss in haunted for instance shows a moment of harmony (it is the same color theory principle that makes the blue and green thing work).

But I'm pretty sure in moments where Eddie is blue, she isn't yellow, she's orange, and because those are opposite colors, it shows the contrast between them, a scene that has that combo is the scene where she goes to the house about Chris and the school and they fight, so it's putting them on opposite sides when it comes to colors too, except for her death, but all things considered I think the blue and yellow there is more about something bright on Eddie's life getting taken away from him and creating that gloomy blue feeling of grief than anything inherently queer. I think that sequence is a more basic interpretation, her death took something from Eddie he can't get back, it's a light going out moment in a sense.

Actually, I stand about what I'm saying about her death scene, but I was wrong, she is in yellow in merry exmas when he's in the uniform, and considering they are discussing their sex life affecting their relationship, it can be a total stretch but points for demi Eddie maybe? Because this is the same color palette and I don't know what to do with it right now tbh.

Because the merry exmas fight is very warm, Shannon is the one matching the lighting and background, not Eddie, and that's the opposite situation with the will reveal, the will has a very cold background that matches Eddie, and considering the merry exmas fight is about Eddie not trusting Shannon with Chris even though he loves her, and the way the will is Eddie trusting Buck with Chris because he loves him, so Shannon only gets Eddie and Buck only gets Christopher in a sense, it could give me points in the whole the mismatched lighting showing they chasing the wrong thing because Eddie and Shannow were trying to reconcile but that eventually leads to her asking for a divorce anyway, and Buck doesn't understand the love confession that being offered Chris actually is. Honestly, applying the concept that Eddie is queer so any relationship he's in is inherently queer, it could mean something. Even more considering the fountain conversation later is also blue and yellow, but they don't match the light behind them either and Buck is pushing Eddie back to Shannon.

I'll have to think about it more tho. Catch me rewatching the show again trying to figure it out lol

2s: Eddie's graduation where everyone smiles and spends time together even tho ofc Buck and Eddie are not in their best, but it's still good memory. Madney became absolute canon, bathena got married, Henren decided to have another baby

3s : graduation party for May where everyone is happy, Buck said good bye to A*by finally, Michael is healthy and asked David out, Madney found out they are pregnant, henren took Nia in their family

4s: Eddie's welcome home party, henren with Nia and her mother

5s: Buck broke up with Taylor which is good for him, Eddie's back to 118, Chim and Maddie have lunch together with Jee as a family

6s: 118 meditation and all the scenes like madney planning wedding, henren having the call about little girl, bathena cruise, Buck with Natalia, Eddie with Marisol

And it's that I remember without thinking too much. So 911 likes to end the season on high note and they almost always have scenes if something good for partners together. As I'm right(which I 99 % sure) and bucktommy stays at the very least for season 8, then I can see them having their little happy finale scene : like it's their date in public and Buck initiate the kiss, Buck introduces Tommy as his boyfriend or they just having cute date. If we will have season finale with all 118 together, them I see Tommy with Buck at barbecue or smt like that

-Miner has long standing Irish heritage and is pale anyway but coupled with spending half his time in sunless mines as soon as he emerges he blinds everyone in a 3 meter radius. You can use him as an emergency flashlight on dark nights /j However despite being pretty slim in order to fit down mineshafts, he’s far stronger than he looks and can wield a pickaxe like no other Smurf.

-Timber is the 180 body type. Tanned, buff and beefy and hairy. A bear, basically, with large arms for swinging that axe. Excellent hugger, if you don’t mind a couple of cracked ribs /j

-Cockney lad Sweepy! Born and raised in London, refuses to watch Mary Poppins on account of DVD’s bad accent, although does often sing Chim Chimney to himself, he can’t help it. Very lithe and small, one of the shorter men of the village, has to fit down chimneys of course.

-Sloppy, the bane of Tracker’s existence. Tho he’s doing better these days hygiene wise you’ll be pleased to know. That being said he’s essentially works as the village binman so everyone’s rubbish gets collected on time and disposed of properly and he still doesn’t mind being covered in it but he IS to take an immediate shower if he’s to step foot in Sweepy’s house. Owns a black shih tzu called Fly.

-Archie and Pal the reight northern blokes. Nowt they won’t discover and dig, aye. Like all northerners, they’re immune to cold and will be seen in shorts during midwinter. Archie is far more extroverted and Pal is a bit more socially awkward, but both can be very excitable when dealing with their points of interest in history.

-Not entirely sure what’s going on with Skelly and Archie. Are they friendly rivals, besties, vitriolic best buds, lovers, mortal enemies, a combo of all of the above? Who knows but whatever it is is hilarious. Having dedicated his entire life to the study of ancient Smurf history, to randomly one day have a living ….. uhhhh …. Reanimated ancient Smurf walking around is kind of a big deal to Archie!!

-Yay angst w/ Roseate. She’ll be fine, albeit paralysed knees down. Song is ‘Not While I’m Around’ From Sweeney Todd which ironically is also sung by a cockney boy in that show.

when it's fire fam + athena/cops it feels more light hearted and fun like in 4.04 with the locked yard mystery or in treasure hunt or even with the detective buckley in this ep, even tho the police presence is very much there, y'know? but when it's straight up cop business it always gives me athena begins vibes or it turns into copaganda and it just feels like a whole other show. and every time they try to portray the cop stuff as good and valid (like even the police brutality against michael was sort of handwaved with the one bad apple shit) and everyone they arrest is bad despite intentions or circumstances and it just leaves such a bad taste in my mouth

yeah for sure - while i'd love for there to really not be any major cop presence on the show, if they have to meet their cop quota or w/e i would definitely prefer episodes like 4.04 and 4.12 over episodes like this one or desperate measures or athena begins

but yeah 100%. the thing i usually love about this show is that it is so nuanced and treats its characters and plots with a world view that isn't black and white in the least. the concepts of forgiveness and redemption are written into its very core, and both the audience and the characters themselves are constantly asked to practice empathy and understanding, even in the hardest of circumstances. we (and the 118) are asked to forgive bobby for the apartment fire, eddie is asked to forgive his father, hen is asked to forgive her mother, chim is asked to forgive maddie, karen is asked to forgive hen, and so on. even on calls with characters we will never see again we are asked to see them and their circumstances in a way that isn't so black and white.

so the police procedural episodes are always just such a failure of the show, every single time. the concept of policing and the justice system as it exists today is completely incompatible with the themes at the core of 9-1-1, and as a result it's always So jarring to watch these episodes and their "resolutions." because while episodes like 5.06 end with everyone working to find some way for mitch to give his heart to his son despite everything he'd done, episodes like this one end with the punishment and humiliation of people who were, at the end of the day, truly just trying their best. and in a way, we are still asked to have empathy for these characters, but it's ultimately thrown in our faces as we're told that none of it matters and there is no room for it here. it feels so evil every single time, and yet it is constantly framed as the right and only resolution.

anyway. it's always been really disappointing, and it continues to be really disappointing. it's a moral failure on the part of the writers and truly just such such a disservice to the show (which - is truly on the bottom tier of consequences of media like this, but still)

Man i like AND im rooting for buddie but (and ik im 100% getting attacked for this) they aren’t the main part of the show. They aren’t!!! Season finale is been out for like 2 hours and already I’ve seen people make 284848585 think pieces of why the show should be over bc buddie didn’t go canon. Like…. The white men maybe being queer are not the main representation of this show or the main importance pls. The main importance is def the family the ENTIRE 118 found in each other. And even if buddie goes canon the main queer rep is Hen. You know, the black lesbian with an family????????? (Which like…. You rarely EVER see on tv??????).

You can be mad at buddie not going canon but also to talk as if the entire writing should be jusged based on buddie like…. I need y’all to wake up a little idk.

Just feels like all characters and storylines are often forgotten or ignored to focus on buddie sometimes. Or maybe because i do like buddie and interact with the content is what i see majority of fans taking priority on.

To me the season finale was so good!!! Because it was everyone just freaking out and looking for each other and then bobby. And any ep where they all take a moment to remember bobby is their adoptive father is an A+ for me sjdjfjdj i adore ALL relationships with Bobby they are so precious. Buck taking charge was also amazing???? Hen wanting to take care of everyone???? Eddie trying to ignore his own pain to constantly worry about everyone else??? Saving Chim??????? Loved it!!!

I do agree the eddie and Buck girlfriends storylines were off. Eddie’s not THAT much. Buck’s was bc Natalia had just cared for him dying so idk why they are portraying it like they have such an emotional bond lmao??? Its mostly been how she was fascinated he died and then being uncomfortable he was a sperm donor (which i dont get why????? Ppl do it for money all the time lmao is not like hes a dad at all). But i do think the writers knew chances were very high for a s7 so im guessing they didn’t necessarily plan for a series finale. Like it was a risk but i think most of their cards were on a s7. Which we thankfully had!!!

I love buddie but i dont think it will ever be canon. Thankfully im not watching just for them so i still enjoy the show. I do hope they find better girls for them though or at the very least slow down with who they ended in s6 and develop it more next season. Still kinda hoping for buddie tho djfjffj

On the finale, I love everything about the first 30 minutes! the bridge collapse is everything, i could go on about that for hours, even the birth on the couch, i thought that was a funny twist in the couch theory. anyways, I thought this ep did the platonic relationships really well (buck and hen, buck and chim, hen and chim, and buck and bobby) and did literally every other storyline well except for buck's ending

i realize like as i finished that this was kinda neg so if you don't want to respond to any of this dw I understand adsf

i enjoyed everything related to the emergency! i thought it was done very well, while i wanted it to be more high-stakes i get why they couldn't end what they thought might be their last episode on a cliffhanger or something. the 'pay it forward' thing really worked so well, not just with the civilians and jeff but i also clocked it with ravi and buck (someone also pointed out that the 118's degree of injuries was based on how much experience they've had on the job, which is why ravi didn't face any danger at all, and i thought that was an interesting theme!). i enjoyed how they wrapped up the other characters and i love that bathena got their cruise.

my major problem is the way buck's storyline was resolved, while the sperm donor thing was wrapped up very well; i'm unhappy and tired of him going in circles with natalia yet again. i also dislike the implication that him ending the season being single would mean it's an 'unhappy' ending for him—aside from all the obvious issues with that statement, buck literally started out this season by trying to be comfortable in being single and figuring out life by himself. it would have been the PERFECT conclusion to his arc. i love buck, i really do, but i'm not interested in sitting through who knows how many more episodes of him trying to learn this lesson again, i'm just not.

the thing with eddie and marisol was actually cute and it went more or less how i expected tbh. the way she was re-introduced left very little doubt that eddie would date her again. (given the lack of set-up, tho, i wouldn't be surprised if they opened up s7 with the relationship having fizzled out during the time-gap).

when i saw the synopsis mentioning the lees, i thought they might appear in a montage of sorts with chim recovering and i'm disappointed we didn't get to see that, especially with the stuff with chim's dad. (side note: 911 really needs to do better on the chimney front. i'm gonna need a season 7 that treats him like his own person for the entirety of it, not just maddie's partner. 6B has given us some of that, but i need more).

i'm actually glad they didn't rush the madney wedding. the bathena wedding being the way it was kinda made sense given the circumstances of how they got together in the first place, and how their relationship progressed from there. madney on the other hand—they've always taken things slow, they've been cautious and thoughtful while taking each step, largely because of their own past and baggage. what worked for bathena wouldn't really work for them, especially considering maddie's trauma surrounding marriage, i'm really glad they didn't rush this.

Am I wild for saying that even tho not every scene was like the premiere, we got way more buck and Eddie interactions this half of the season than we’ve seen in a while? I’m not really counting 5b because they’re storylines really were intertwined but just the fact that they didn’t really have a storyline together we sure got a shit ton of interactions with them

You’re not wild at all, I think that sounds right. Fools was a big episode for them in 3B, but for the most part they didn’t have a ton there other than random little moments. S4 was similar—4A had Future Tense and one major scene in Breaking Point (plus the phone call) and some scattered more limited interactions (the boxing scene in 4x04, the very end of Buck Begins, a couple bits of Buddie-centric firefam chaos in Jinx) but 4B was largely devoid other than Treasure Hunt and the shooting itself/hospital scenes. 5A was also similar—they had a couple of really lovely longer solo scenes right out the gate (mainly 5x02 and 5x04), but for the most part were interacting only in the context of the firefam more broadly (yes, even in the hostage episode when they were together they weren’t interacting with each other so much as simply being in the same space trying to deal with the situation) and that was without having Maddie and Chim around when they technically could have given them more dedicated time instead (but Tim wanted to give that time to Taylor).

Not only did we have Buck and Eddie moments, (even if not in the form of lengthy dedicated emotional scenes) in 6A, they went out of their way to give entirely unnecessary Buck and Eddie moments (like the end of Home Invasion). I think there’s a generally accepted idea that audiences are expected to have a certain level of understanding of object permanence (aka more than the amount of a child) and recognize that their dynamic is not different just because the writers aren’t spending precious screentime showing the same things they’ve already shown with these two characters and are exploring other dynamics instead. And that’s without even taking into account the pretty clear narrative reasons why they’re not having those lengthy emotional scenes (aka Buck is in his head about the sperm donor situation and they can’t talk about any of that because this is the season of “missing what’s right in front of your face” and the minute they talk about it it’s game over).

Except kiss buck, have a cop family, some weird issue in5x14 that I still don't understand why she was upset and then hang around in the background with all her scenes cut. i do actually like lucy. if everyone didn’t hate her to this degree, i probably wouldn’t talk about her as much because we don’t know very much about her, but i would still like her. i think what you and a lot of people are missing here is that not everyone reads something the exact same way. which is fine! it just means that, while you may have read her scenes negatively, i didn’t.

i did not care that she kissed buck. she didn’t know he had a gf! if i was upset with anyone in that scene it was buck and even then it really didn’t bother me that much. i think it’s totally fine if that scene really did bother someone of course! if you really don’t like cheating plots that’s completely valid, but i don’t think it’s fair to put it on lucy. if that introduction soured her for you then that sucks but i do think your issue should be with the writing and not the character or the actress. as of right now lucy’s cop family has had one offhand mention and it was to set up the fact that lucy is different from them — she was expected to be a cop and she became a firefighter instead, so honestly i find that to be a point in her favour? i don’t want to see her cop family, i’ll be clear about that, but lucy herself coming from a family of cops is not some slight against her to me anymore than may’s mom being a cop is a slight against her. i get why some people were confused by her arc in 5x14 or why some people wanted less of her in 5x14 and that’s fair (as long as you’re normal about it and not attacking the actress), but i was fine with it. i understood what they were doing with that arc, and i think it was interesting to see someone who is generally very confident be shaken by the fact sometimes life is about luck and not skill. i don’t think they could have really told that particular story with anyone else (buck in s1 was too confident, buck in s2 and onwards not confident enough; eddie is too practical; ravi is too new to firefighting; hen and chim and bobby have been firefighting for too long). and i enjoyed having her in the background! i LOVED her scenes with ravi and even her occasional Glances with hen when buck was being weird or when bobby ran away from the spiders.

so, to answer your question: yes i like lucy. i think she’s fun. i like having another woman with the 118. i genuinely can’t wait to see what interactions eddie and lucy may have and i am begging and praying on my knees for ravi and lucy to be best friends in a normal way that doesn’t involve putting each other in their wills or being kidnapped together.

oh man i think i'd like sob if this happened. i remember someone made a banner for the persistence of memory and i got very emotional but uh fanart wise? i think i'd die if i saw absolutely anything for the national treasure au or the neighbours au. but like yeah if anyone wanted to draw chimney as riley poole id kiss them on the mouth. but like a particular scene. if someone was to draw the "what happened to your date?"/"he just walked through the door" scene from can't do this anymore i would transcend to another dimension

I'm also side-eying the madney proposal. I mean, my aunt and uncle got married for tax reasons and they already had two children and had planned on staying together forever bc they love each other. So there's nothing wrong with that ofc and marriage doesn't change the love people have for each other, but I guess with madney, given what they both went through I would've liked something more romantic 😅 tho the proposal and wedding can still be romantic but I hope they make it look like the tax thing is the catalyst for them doing it bc they wanted to and were waiting for the right time, and not just "oh let's get married it's more practical" lol

Yeah, I'm with you. I'm hoping it ends well, but right now it's just making me roll my eyes because MADDIE should be the one proposing, not Chim. And who knows, we might get that in the end! But given these characters and their individual journeys before they met, and how their relationship has unfolded together, that's what makes the most narrative sense. Because Chim tried to propose before out of fear and it didn't go well. And Maddie was trapped in a marriage for so many years being beaten down and belittled and abused. So the real full circle moment for them would be Chim, as he's always done, respecting her boundaries and letting her take the lead on if she wanted to get married again or not. Because BOTH of them deserve to get married out of JOY and celebration of their love, and tying their lives together legally because they WANT to, not out of fear or obligation.

So right now, I'm very annoyed that a) it's something forcing their hand by way of "marriage would be more convenient" (rather than one of them being in danger and the other deciding they don't want to wait anymore. Which we still could end up with! But right now, I'm 🙄), and b) that it's ONCE A-FUCKING-GAIN a thing that's being played for laughs. IDK if KR took the "season 5 was too dark" the wrong way (i.e not understanding WHY people felt that way and assuming people didn't want ANY serious moments happening) or what the deal is. But I would rather have spent 6a seeing them going to couples therapy and then when Chim gets hurt in the final episodes, Maddie proposing because she's been thinking about it since Buck almost died and it never felt like the right time and she's reminded time is short, rather than Chim getting scared about the tax man and them turning the tax thing, and ring shopping, and losing the ring into a big joke. YES Chim is funny! Yes this show does need a balance! But Kenny is SO good at the emotional stuff too as is JLH and their love story deserves better than to happen mostly off screen unless they're being used to "lighten" the mood for the episode.

I ADORE Madney and their love story. It's one of the best relationship build-ups I've ever seen and I just hate what KR has done to them. Their story and we as the audience deserve so much better than this. And the journey matters!! It matters how we get there so even with it ending up with Maddie proposing doesn't erase the fact that they were GOING to have Chim propose even though that doesn't make sense for how his character has always let Maddie take the lead on stuff like that. I just....it matters. And the end result does not always justify the means to get there.

Idk why I’m ever poking this wasp nest ok im not in the 911 fandom or anything (as in I love the show, but I don’t create anything or like engage with it too much in fandom spaces) but sweet lord some of y’all in this fandom are giving me johnlock flashbacks. buddie might not happen (in fact, I lean more towards it probably not happening, tho to be clear I ship it a lot). not everything is a hint towards canon buddie. pls stop analyzing bts stuff and reading into everything with conspiracy glasses to so you can claim certainty that it’s happening and the writers/showrunners are planting seeds for the eagle-eyed. I’m not trying to hate or ruin fun or call y’all dumb because you aren’t. just as a veteran of sherlock and johnlock? don’t put your whole soul into canon buddie. don’t look for hints in everything. because odds are, they aren’t hints. you will literally only ruin the show for yourself if it doesn’t happen because you hung your enjoyment on the show in eventual canon buddie.

If buddie doesn’t happen, imo this isn’t a sherlock situation; ie., I don’t think it’s queerbaiting. johnlock was actively teased a really gross number of times through the whole show, with people constantly making jokes that john and sherlock were lovers, and the actors and showrunners either never engaged with or actively shut down the idea of johnlock when it became clear it wasn’t going to happen, while simultaneously still playing up the queer shit. w/ 911, it’s fun to imagine and to speculate that eddie and buck could end up together. but it’s also entirely possible that they just have a very deep, emotion-led platonic friendship. those exist. if I had a child, I would probably will custody to my best friend, because we have a (textual) buck-and-eddie style relationship. any references to them being a couple aren’t derogatory or jokes—they’re fun and light hearted or blink and you miss it. johnlock and buddie are not the same, and if buddie isn’t canon it won’t be queerbaiting unless they go way hard on it this season.

however. as an aforemention tjlc veteran. take care of yourselves. read less into every interaction between them, into every bts, into every goddamn costume and scene and character name or whatever else I keep seeing. have fun with the show. if you’re speculating just for fun?? keep doing it!! but if you think about buddie not going canon and either feel deeply disappointed, invalidated, or betrayed? step back. reevaluate. don’t risk hating this show because you loved one potential facet too much. there’s not much worse in fandom than that.

Love bobby! Love hen! Love chim and maddie! Love buck and eddie’s undeniable love for each other, without hanging that love for them on them ending up together.

ashton - bobby / hen / buck

ashton was a rly hard one to pin down because i see parts of him in a couple of characters. firstly bobby - absolutely the father figure and very much the voice of reason when it comes to his team/band/friends. but also shoulders too much of that weight sometimes until it’s noticeably heavy to others. little stubborn to ask for help. i see those characteristics in hen too. such a strong beautiful person who has a clear mindset in what she wants and how to reach it. but takes on way too much at once and only asks for help when it all crumbles. and lastly i see some of buck there too, maybe not so much now that buck is on his breakdown era 😌 like i think ash has come a long long way to break out of his self destructive habits and of putting others first without even thinking about how it could affect him but i’m sure old habits die hard. but i also see buck as ash in the way he lights up a room and is so charming and thoughtful

luke - buck / ravi

i also see a lot of the same destructive tendencies of buck in luke. passing out the ‘good’ pieces of himself to others, putting on a brave face. putting all of the weight of the world on his own shoulders. but also. youngest brother and all the teasing that comes with that 😌🫶 god and he is just so pretty they’re both devastating. but i also for sure see luke as ravi - again youngest brother (idk if that’s canon but he deff gives those vibes of the younger sibling) and getting ribbed by the others, slightly awkward in new situations and around new people and uses comedy as a way to deflect 🫶

calum - eddie

not because i said ash could be buck i swear 😌 no but strong silent type, takes a while to warm up to people but you have his full trust once he’s got you under his wing. he is so fucking expressive 😭 background eddie in scenes vs calum in any interview when he’s not being asked something directly 🫶 he’s made some fucking tough decisions that altered his entire life path, tho calum’s giving up soccer to play in the band is obv a huge positive force that changed everything for him whereas i think eddie has really had to come to terms with his decisions in maybe a more negative way to begin with. therapised eddie tho giving out that love and positivity freely to his friends reminds me very much of calum

michael - chim

god he is so fucking strong and he loves so deeply and loudly. will drop everything to be there for his friends and give them his full support. when he’s so fucking sure of something he’ll pursue it to the ends of the earth. very much michael putting everything in to the band to give himself and the boys a new start at life and he carries that with him now in every band decision. he’s such a strong force within the band he has so much faith in his friends. also he’s fuckin funny mans got jokes 😌🫶

Judd is never there lmao … He has strong friendships but he goes home to his wife. ooooh, damn, that is so true! the contrast of judd versus the others makes complete sense indeed, that judd's first choice will always be his wife and kid, and then maybe friends his age that he's known for many years, e.g. tommy and his poker buddies. he's been living and having a fulfilling life in texas before the new team was formed, and it's nice that this is visible in these choices. it makes things clear without downplaying his friendships with the team. also re tommy, she is another good example of more realistic freedom: she did choose her family over her job because it made sense back then until she eventually returned. i liked that – life is long, and people temporarily leave their jobs, go on sabbaticals, etc. this isn't a death sentence to solid friendships.

we don't see them close in that sense despite being very involved in each other's personal life. this!! there is this weird disconnect happening between what i actually feel when i watch canon versus what i know i am supposed to feel (what the shows tries to make me feel) when i watch canon. i get what the show tries to convey but they suck at believably executing it, so i just. do not really feel it lol. i mean, you cannot be amatonormative (all of them have separate families; not being each other's top priority in comparison to their actual partners; being single is equaled to living an unfulfilled life/ romance seems to be regarded as vital) and anti-amatonormative (all the scenes that emphasize that family can come in many forms and that friendships are meaningful too) at the same time. these puzzle pieces do not fit together at all, and whenever one of them is shoved into my face, i just like ??? why is this show just contradicting itself repeatedly? one episode ago, you said something else! either you tell me that a life can be fulfilling and incredibly happy without a romantic partner or nah, but you can't do both.

He's poor little has no clue what he wants Buck in a way that feels like they're almost laughing at him lmao. djdjdjdjdj THAT is so real. they use buck a lot for those purposes, and it's not doing his character nor the other characters a favor lmfao. at best, he's relatable for having those struggles while the others seem supportive. at worst, he seems like the laughing stock because he is young and does not have a romantic partner/children yet, which means his life must be empty and he lacks life experience, while the others seem condescending. "judd with the younger members" feels better than "bobby, hen, chim with buck". i exclude eddie bc he's apparently buck's age but never got the baby treatment.

If it wants to be dramatic, give me drama with lifelong consequences. i agree! i like silly, i like drama... balancing them can be tough tho, and then they just water each other down until you do not really get to enjoy either of them to their full extent. love the funny episode but the entire premise of this show is sooo wonderful for whump that i cannot help being a big sad that they don't manage to build proper suspense :'(

It just feels weird when they really hammer home how close the crew are and important they are but really don't show them all hanging out for extended periods of time. In fact they make a point of showing them hanging out separately. i am taking a megaphone to shout this so loudly that the 911 makers can hear me <3 exactly. it really is a Choice™.

I was fully convinced Kameron was going to try and kiss Buck or something, I still kinda think they'll go there because ... why not! OHH, interesting! i personally did not think that would happen, but it's an intriguing idea to me. i really loved that the only reason this entire donor sl even happened is because an old friend remembered buck to be such a good person that he decided "his [buck's] babies will definitely all turn out great" lmaoooo. and that kameron felt comfy enough to seek out buck's support even though they've only known each other for a few months! <3 cute! ngl i would not even hate them getting together. what a story to tell the child someday LMAO. no but jokes aside, pls omg give these characters something to do that isn't their next love interest for once <3

The whole destined to be alone, unloved, I'll never find someone who knows me is just ... I'm sick of it and makes both characters feel like they actually don't know what they want. absolutely this! i am okay with some romance and drama, that is all a-okay with me, but we've reached a point where it's really just chipping away at the characters. the others have the advantage of being in clearly endgame-coded commitments already, so buck and eddie drive most of the "unsure single life" perspective in the show, which is very very very unfortunate for them because the show sucks at that LOL. i enjoyed natalia and the scenes she had with buck, but i am only "tentatively hopeful" at best at this point sksksksk. we've already covered the whole issue with 911 and side characters in general – i cannot imagine that the show will suddenly improve the writing in this regard, so i expect the worst treatment for all these poor side characters. plus, season 6b felt incredibly rushed and dropped a lot of balls; the buck and natalia romance definitely needed much more room to feel more organic and authentic. it felt like a choice made because the s7 renewal was not certain, so ig we'll see what they'll do with it now that they do get a s7.

It also makes the idea of them invested in each other's lives seem a little truer, more authentic rather than them hearing about snippets of things on the way to calls. hell yeah!! i remember the nancy thing, that was so adorable and relatable! building meaningful relationships takes time and effort and mutual liking and intention! yes, even if those relationships are platonic! it's a little bit like the crucial difference between "what you say" versus "what you do". calling somebody a "friend" but never hanging out with them one-on-one or not seeming to share any interests with them is... weird. saying things to the audience (e.g. mentioning snippets on calls) but not showing things to the audience just doesn't feel as authentic, yes yes yes. i'd rather verify things with my own two eyes if only 911 allowed me to actually see some of those alleged friendships it attempted to establish as canon lmfao.

IDK I just think it's a lot easier to let your audience see a group of friends grow into a family than start by showing them THIS IS THE FIREFAM FAMILY. very true! it's funny because og 911 kinda started out in a similar way? both bobby and buck were quite new to the 118, and none of them were friends except hen and chim. they could have build friendships from there, and they did, in a way, but the approach was so different (and i personally think worse) from how 911 ls did it. they started out with the heavy shit, which isn't bad per se but... they then neglected to do the normal friendship stuff on the way? e.g. they mentioned buck and bobby going to a concert in season 1 and even now, after 6 seasons of development, that seems absolutely unlikely to me. because... do they even like music? do they share the same music taste? what does music mean to them? we simply do not know!!! i cannot emphasize enough how empty all these dynamics feel because the characters lack interests and passions and a life outside of their job sksksksksks. another example, we saw buck being very interested in fitness in season 1, but that was then completely dropped. we see he's fit, but it's not portrayed as a hobby or interest or big part of his life anymore, even thought we know that realistically it must be.

and they all have to go their separate ways and it just shows a nice way of moving these characters along but not damaging ties they still have. oh yeah, i have seen the end of s2 and ik from tumblr that they had to go separate ways – and i LOVED the balls of the show to externalized the reason for such a big change in the show and showcase how the job is not the be-all and end-all for the team. characters trying to constantly fix themselves and that being the entire topic of a show is simply boring to me after a while. i'd much rather watch characters having to work together to fix some big external problem while their self-improvement occurs on the journey. another thing that i miss in 911.

this isn't a death sentence to solid friendships - And that's it. I think they did such a good job of showing Tommy's influence on the whole group so quickly. The fact that she replaced Michelle was such a good thing for the show. Michelle was outrageously isolated from the group and maybe they would have paired her with Owen but then the stuff with Gwyn might not have happened and that again was a real step up for the show I think.

i exclude eddie bc he's apparently buck's age but never got the baby treatment - Which is so interesting to me. It's like they realised they wanted to make a different/mysterious/he's gone through so much type of character for Eddie so ran with it and they have genuninly unpacked a lot about him which is great. At the same time, Buck is seen as like you say a bit more of a dumbass and they play on that. YET they have given him the most devastating backstory and show him being competent and caring and mature all the way back to season 1 with Abbey so it's ... it's weird. They want a baby of the group and that was fine in s1 but now it's s6, that baby has rightfully grown up and doesn't fit the mould they tend to shove him in for the sake of it. I really hope that stops soon!

The whole donor sl is really an interesting one. I wasn't mad about it but would love to know what the general vibe was a little more because it did seem to come out of nowhere. It seems like another 'give it to Buck!' type of sl where everyone else is so settled, Buck seems to be the character they can try stuff out on without thinking long term. Idk if the sl is going to continue or just be dropped but it's something I think they did give a lot of airtime too in terms of him making his decision.

It needed a lot more time, you're right. When Buck was like she sees me/it's different, I really didn't know whether we were supposed to laugh or agree with him which is obviously not ideal.

I remember when Hen and Maddie had that talk about getting engaged I was like dear God have these two ever had a scene together? Have Chimney and Hen and their families ever had a scene together? The only relationships I'm sure do exist are: Buck/Eddie, Hen/Chim, Hen/Athena, slightly Hen/Buck but aside from that ... nothing really and usually these parings are at the expense of seeing them all in an environment together.

e.g. they mentioned buck and bobby going to a concert in season 1 - LMAO WHAT! I have no memory of that whatsoever but that seems hilarious. I do have a lovely soft spot for Bobby and Buck, I think their relationship is super sweet but they need to develop it so much more. I get the whole dad/son dynamic but !! I'd love to see more. It's like they can't decide whether to go all in, have Buck be seen as Bobby's family OR they're colleagues. The middle ground sometimes feels ... unresolved or lacking.

It feels really important and you see them changing as characters and it's meaningful! They're not stuck in their ways. They're developing as people. AE is amazing! I watched it from the first two episodes and was hooked. I'm a secondary school teacher myself so I just die at the accuracy and OMG you need to watch severance, it's one of the best things I've ever watched.

abt deeper feelings bc if jimin always had this crush on her, maybe she thought that all he has was JUST a crush and nothing more… EVEN if she somehow sometimes sensed it could‘ve been more on chims side, bc straying in a comfortable situation is very dangerous and keeps you floating without thinking abt the what if‘s etc. oc felt good in what they had and didnt want to burden herself with possible feelings etc. So yes, i think she took the most blame at the end and i dont think it was fair. But to be honest i KNEW !!! that sun and chim would fly to oc !!! i just knew ! so them visiting her was such a good round up of the whole story at the end bc oc went out of her way to approach them first by her videos and i think to fly to her was the minimum they could‘ve done after all the shit- especially jimin- did after they got exposed !!! Again, it was such a good story and even tho you posted it a fee days ago, the amount of notes it has ( not even 200 ) DONT do this story justice and i hope you understand that despite that, the story is fantastic. I will EAGERLY read your other stories ( nothing better than the feeling of finding good authors on this app !!! 💕 ). I will look forward to write more little lettonies ( thats what i call my letter emails hehe ) to you ! i hope i didnt forget anything bc my mind was just blown after reading is kdkjsksdk 🤭🤗🙋🏻‍♀️

okay let me continue gushing and babbling! i am SO glad you said it feels realistic because that was absolutely my goal!! as much as i love writing fics where the members is sweet and kind and y/n is a friendly funny person, i also enjoy writing messy, fucked up characters because it’s fun ya know. 

i’m just so glad that you had these feelings and these thoughts because it means i wrote them and the whole situation just as messed up as i was trying to. even as i was plotting and outlining jimin and y/n i was getting so mad at them and i truly am on momo’s side in the end!! i just wanted to tell a story about two hot, terrible people who have drama and end up together since it truly and honestly do be like that lol.

2020 art summary...!! I know there’s a few days left of the year but I already had all the pieces I wanted to share in mind :’)

This year was so rough man;; but despite that I’ve managed to draw something every month, so that’s something to be proud of! I’ve definitely come a long way and have improved a lot compared to last year, so. Progress!!

It was PMD time again!! I think Rescue Team DX had just gotten announced so the hype was suuuper crazy. I did a lot of gijinka design revamps in January as well! I actually chose to show this one over everything else because I had Pip and Chim in my 2019 January art summary as well. It seemed fitting

Back on my Senyuu craze...it had been a little while since I’d been so into the series but yes it was definitely fun to revisit it and fall down that rabbit hole again lmao

The beginning of my crazy BNHA AU explosion. I got back into it this year and after that there was no turning back. Anyway Bottled Soul was a big one and is still one of my faves!

I definitely finished this piece before August but that was when I was allowed to post it so. It was for the Tododeku Sun and Moon zine! I had lots of fun doing this one and I think it turned out very well. I love them.

You guessed it more Tododeku is anybody surprised at this point. After the OVA dropped and I watched it I IMMEDIATELY dashed off to draw this and I don’t have a single regret

MY PROMARE PHASE........I watched it 9 times within the first week of seeing it and god I love it so much. I HAD to make an AU for it and I slapped it onto Trustedpartner because I love them and it fits them perfectly and you can’t tell me otherwise

BNHA movie teaser got announced! I ran off to draw more Tododeku! I experimented a lot with lighting and color in this one and I am very pleased with the result. It’s pretty. They’re pretty

I did a 6 fanarts challenge again! Dawn was my favorite of the batch, so here she is. I did more experimenting with lighting and had so much fun (tho it took forever lmao)
