Fuck dude, I relate to the deadweight reader sm. Pls tag me when pt 8 is out
Tumblr media
Here we are at last! The first part to the two parter finale! Thank you for supporting this series that came from a silly little idea and thank you all for seeing it get this far!
Again the stupid fucking ‘readmore’ isn’t going to be added as I don’t want half of the fic to be erased for no reason. Be it’s the new updates fault. 🤷‍♀️
“Where are we?” Keyleth asked, feeling a tad disheartened by the dead flowerbeds, dry grass the crunched like bones under foot and the decaying trees and polluted swamp that stretched out before them. “Shademurk Bog.” Their horned travel guide informed before pointing at the tree that sat at the heart of the bog. “And your friend is trapped inside there with Saurdon.” He adds.
“How are we meant to get inside? Blow it up?” Vex asked, hands on her hips and her brow cocked upwards. “That’s the idea.” The horned male says as though it’s obvious enough, “it’s an tree after all, a dead one, but a tree none the less.” The group shared looks between each other before arming themselves as they delved across the black goo swamp whisky also making sure to keep a clear mind as to not submit to Saurdon’s temptations. They were here for one reason and one reason that ever truly mattered to them; vestige or no vestige, you’ve became the treasure that they horde.
Now that someone has taken that treasure and they weren’t happy. They were furious. “Don’t worry y/n.” Vax said the closer they got to the tree that supposedly has you trapped. “We’re coming, just hang on tight.”
‘Lost, ostracised, alienated, overshadowed by your peers.’ Suardon listed off as he crept towards your still standing figure, your blacked out eyes stuck themselves to him and every action he did and yet you couldn’t find the power within to reach for your weapon and tear this twat a new arsehole. You were stun locked. Your free will to do anything was taken away, forcing you into obeisance.
‘You desire companionship that won’t treat you like a second thought or someone who is only there to be used and then quickly discarded until your services were called upon again, like a servant. You want to be treated more then just deadweight.’ He continues, stepping into your personal space now as his decrepit hand cusps your jaw as though he were handling porcelain.
‘You’re lonely y/n.” he utters in a hushed whispered as his face draw nearer and nearer to the point you could feel his breath brush against your skin, which made you feel more then repulsed then you were when you couldn’t do shit to stop this weirdo from touching your jaw. ‘I can fix that…for a price.’ Saurdon drawled, stepping just another step closer to you as you internally groaned. ‘If only you give me your heart.’
“Don’t listen to him sweetheart!” Vex’s voice cried from below, catching yours and Saurdon’s attention. “His words are void, empty promises that of which hide his true intentions!” Percy adds on.“We’re sorry! We’re so fixing sorry y/n. For everything!” Keyleth cries when she saw that the black in your eyes hadn’t disappeared after hearing Percy and Vex. “For the way we’ve ignored you, disregarded you, shunned you, distanced ourselves from you, all of that and so much more!”
Vax stepped in next to her when he saw that she was becoming too emotional to carry on her speech and seeing as he was the one to remain by your side since the tomb, he could only hope that his voice could reach you. He couldn’t loose you, not this time. Not here. “We know better now then to act as though we’ve never wronged you, that’s unfair for you and the shit we’ve put you through!” He exclaims, “we promise to do better by you because in all honesty, we’re jealous of you y/n. Vox machina would be nothing without you, we would be nothing without you! Yes we were dickheads for not talking to you about this but please…come home.”
The black in your eyes disappeared and you were quick to draw your weapon and turn on Saurdon, who was furious that his plan was ruined and used his power to send you over the edge and into solid ground, knocking your weapon from your hand as he began attacking your friends. “Fucker needs to takes rejection in a more healthier manner good god.” You groaned as you got back up to your feet, picking up your weapon as Vax came to your aid, tossing your arm over his shoulder. “Forgive us yet?” He asked.
“Not the time nor the place to ask but since your dying to know,” you told him as you set your sights on Saurdon’s back, “the jury is still out.” You concluded as you brought yourself back into the heat of battle with a fire under your arse when you saw that Percy was being overwhelmed by Suardon’s plants. Slicing and dicing through them with ease as you watched them fall pathetically.
“Thanks.” Percy said.
“No problem. Also, tree fucker has the vestige.” You replied with a smile before leaving him with that information to aid Keyleth and Vex who were more then happy to see you. “Y/n!” Keyleth shouted, setting some of Suardon’s offence aflame. “Keyleth.” You greeted, “where’s Vex?” “Fighting Saurdon.” She informed you, pointing in the way she last saw vex. You patted her on the shoulder and were about to leave to help aid Vex when the Druid stopped you. “Be careful.” She warned. “Aren’t I always?” You replied before slipping off.
By the time you caught up with Vex and Saurdon, things were looking bleak. Vex lost her bow and was hanging over the edge with Saurdon towering over her, aiming the vestige at her, reading himself in taking the killing blow. “Hey tree dick!” You shouted, catching his attention as he hissed in anger. “Step the fuck away from my friend.” Utilising the enhanced speed gifted to you by the armour, you sent yourself and Saurdon over the edge and to the ground below; allowing Vex to pull herself up over the edge. “Y/n!” She cried, “catch!” Vex then threw down the golden arrowhead Percy made her and you only looked up at her incredulously.
“The fuck am I supposed to do with this?!” You asked her and she face palmed before gesturing to Saurdon who was slowing getting back up to his feet, “stab him you dumbass! Stab him in the heart!” You quickly dashed to Saurdon, knocking back flat on his arse again, wrestling him into submission as you lifted the golden arrow head overhead and brought it down into his heart; killing him and earning your party another vestige which you the quickly gave to Vex.
You all emerged from the tree only to find a golden portal awaiting you. “This must be our ticket home.” You said and with no argument to be heard from the rest of the party, you all left the fey realm united.

Prompts: "Don’t scare me like that!” + “You are driving me crazy here" + "I’m getting your shirt wet"
You had seen the aim that Delilah’s magic took at Vex. This accursed woman had almost taken too much from you already, and you were not about to let her have this as a victory. As if on impulse, you sprinted forward ahead of Kiki just as you felt the dark magic shoot through you.
You managed a weak smile in assurance to the half-elf before everything went dark. The last you heard was the desperation in Vex’s voice as she caught you.
Your mind wandered in the dark, of the memories made with your friends. Of how they were all safe. Of how lovely Vex was to you, and that her life was guaranteed to be safe.
It felt like an eternity until you felt the pressure growing in your chest. A sudden pull that was bringing you back from the edge where you were almost lost.
Feeling the tug of whatever force compelled you, you weakly managed to open your eyes at the surprised and grateful reactions of the rest of your team. You could barely manage a greeting before feeling her arms thrown around you.
“Don’t ever scare me like that! You drove me crazy, sacrificing yourself!” Call it relief from returning back or the sudden realization of what almost happened, but you feebly managed to cling to the half-elf huntress in return. After what felt like an eternity, you slightly pulled back only to see the tear streaks that were along her blouse.
With a meek laugh, you tried to soothe Vex. “I’m sorry…I’m getting your shirt all went..”
You were met with a reassuring head pat in return. “I don’t care. I couldn’t accept anything happening to you.”

Favourite doodles I did in a whiteboard session with @endless-shelter and I’m tagging her because she enabled me with the Vax doodle and deserved equal blame. Sorry dearest best friend if you’re seeing this, which you will be, but in this world it’s nerf betrayal or nothing.

alstroemeria, ch. 4
it has been literal months since i updated this!! my bad!! i’ve got a queue of prompts tho so hopefully i’ll have more updates... semi-soon. anyway, this is for @blorbologist who gave me the prompt “kissing a naked shoulder” which i turned... a lot fluffier and angstier than i think either of us expected
title: for reassurance
rating: general (despite the prompt lol)
word count: 1.2k
genre: established relationship, family cuteness, hurt/comfort but the hurt happened previously and isn’t prominent here
warning for tlovm fans!! this contains spoilers for events in the vox machina campaign after the current timeline of the show!! i hesitate to call them major spoilers but they’re certainly not minor. also spoilers for the dalen’s closet one shot if you haven’t seen that yet but have seen the campaign

If Percy had a platinum for every time he had a wedding with no reception, he would have two platinum. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
After the ceremony - scrabbled together on a clifftop, blood and sweat mixing with tears (joyful ones, thankfully) - Pike had quietly assured the two of them that she would take care of explanations and apologies, freeing them to return to their daughter. Percy’s hushed “thank you” was nothing compared to Vex, who’d picked Pike up and spun her around in a tight, glowing hug.
Vex is still glowing, now, although it’s faint - absently, Percy marvels that it has been less than an hour since she’d strode blindingly up the rocky path, burning Sylas to the painful ash that he deserved - as she gathers Vesper in her arms, murmuring to her in that soft, sweet voice she only uses with their daughter. It floors him every damn time.

Chapter 5 is posted!
——————
Excerpt:
Percy glanced around stiffly, maintaining his conviction even as the pain behind his forehead worsened; the cavern had collapsed only partially, he assumed, because he certainly didn’t remember moving very far before stone connected with his skull. The damage was enough, though. He gazed upon a barricade of piled rock, particles of dust floating gradually down in the quiet aftermath of its disturbance, the acute sound of rubble still shifting into place.
“Cass!” He heard himself shout. His voice ricocheted around the cavern like a sudden gunshot, shattering the total stillness. “CASSANDRA!”
“P-Percy?”
The noise startled him with its gentleness. He glanced over to a limp figure mostly concealed by debris. “Vex?” he replied, forcing himself to crawl over to her. Every inch of him felt weighted down, as if filled with dense stone. “Vex’ahlia, I’m—I’m right here.”
The pain in his head intensified as he moved pathetically on his hands and knees until he came upon his weapon first, which was shakily holstered, and then Vex; his mind was slipping in and out of consciousness. Her hand reached out to find his. Her strength rivaled his own, scarcely enough to keep them both breathing.
“I have you,” he said, and then softer, “Don’t move, please.”

sex n’ romance with vox machina
[HEADCANNONS]
PAIRINGS — VOX MACHINA [𝘷𝘢𝘹, 𝘷𝘦𝘹, 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘺, 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘭𝘢𝘯] x F!READER
WARNINGS — NSFW, eighteen+ SMUT. penetrative sex, oral sex, outdoor sex, anal-play, face-fucking, tongue-fucking, clit-play, breast/nipple play.
Vax’ildan
𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 : you. a generous lover and a grateful receiver; he could relish in the taste of your drooling pussy for hours, if not days, and also savour the feel of your hot mouth on his shaft, the feel of your pretty throat squeezing around his long cock.
𝒉𝒆’𝒔 : an adrenaline junkie, loves fucking you outdoors. he’d totally wake you up in the middle of the night to slowly sneak away from where the gang is camping, to a far away tree, making you grip the trunk while he is pummelling your cunt. he’d lean against the tree, grunting and whimpering when you’d take him in your mouth. he’s also have you place one leg on his shoulder— using the tree as support— while he angles himself deeper inside you.
𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒔 : the sounds you make, the pleasurable look on your face, the way you clench around his length, the way you’re his. despite the dozens of men ogling at you wherever vox machina goes, at the end of the day, you choose him; over everybody else. vax’ildan loves you.
Vex’ahlia
𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑢𝑙𝑔𝑒𝑠 𝑖𝑛 : those bittersweet moments the two of you share. before a disaster is waiting to unravel, you hold each other in your arms, kiss like there’s literally no tomorrow. the feel of your soft skin against hers when you sleep, bare.
𝑠ℎ𝑒’𝑠 : losing her mind around you. she thanks all gods and stars that she’s met her soulmate who’s excruciatingly good in bed. vex has a high sex drive but likes to keep things under control, or at least she pretended to, until you showed up and now all she wants to feel is your body on hers. loses her sanity every time you nibble on her clit or leave hickeys on the underside of her breasts.
𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑠 : the freedom that comes along with you. the respect you give her is refreshing, and she’s never been loved by anyone like you. neither has she loved anyone like you, the proof of which is delivered every night when she’s got her head trapped between your thighs, lapping away at your stream of juices like the hardworking woman she is. when you return the favour by sucking harshly on her clit, which is when her dominatrix visage starts to crumble.
Percival
𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 : sinful nights, lustful days. aftercare with you, when he gets to fuck his cum back into you (though that’s his harsher, hornier, possessed side). taking care of your love-bites (they look like an act of savagery, but honestly this man IS feral for you).
𝒉𝒆 : can’t display his affection for you, publicly; his noble status doesn’t permit ‘romeo’ behaviour. — is suffering because of his pride, because the minute he is left alone with you, he pounces onto you like you’re his prey and relishes in you the same way (that rhymed) (i was a poet and i did know it). just fucks you hard and rough on most days because my manz can’t catch a break from the end of the world, and is so worked up (poor babes), but when he makes love to you? fuck. rouge tints his pale face, blushing like there’s no tomorrow, because his crush (you, bunny) is riding his dick, while your naked breasts bounce next to his face.
𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒔 : the night time; it’s his favourite hour of the day, because he finally gets to do the things he’s been craving to do to you, all fucking day. watching you writhe in overstimulation when you can’t take the feel of his hot tongue teasing your engorged clit while his long, rough fingers fuck knuckle-deep into you.
Scanlan
𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 : no, no no. he 𝑹𝑬𝑳𝑰𝑺𝑯𝑬𝑺 in you. his sex drive is infamous, and you live to hold the rumours true. the taste of your pussy after a day’s work, lapping away at the creamy sweetness that he coaxes out of you is his favourite past time when he’s not drinking away. even if he was (drinking away), he’d pair you up with his favourite beer and die a happy man.
𝒉𝒆 : does not let you catch a break. would totally spill his drink onto your chest, watch the amber beads of cheap beer dribble down your ample chest, your cleavage just begging him to shove his face in and lick the drink away. is so, so good with aftercare. knows he pushes you past your limits, so it’s his love for you that brings out this gentleman-ly side.
𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒔 : shoving that tongue into you, leaving you a sloppy mess. you’d grimace at the way your juices drip down to your asshole, but scanlan? he’d smirk in a flushed state, rubbing your unused hole solely to tease you. fingering both your holes — two in the pussy, one in the ass (knuckle-deep, obviously). sucking your nipples to soreness.
Tumblr media
A/N — thank you so much for reading, sweets. this is my first time writing headcannons so it’s not conventional.
let me know if you’d like me to do this again or/and write for the remaining members [KEYLETH, GROG, PIKE] of vox machina!

You Great Unfinished Symphony
Fandom: Critical Role Characters: Percy De Rolo, Vex'ahlia, Gwendolyn De Rolo, Pike Trickfoot Pairing: Perc'ahlia Word Count: 781 Note: This... is not my usual style, and I am both excited and nervous to be sharing this for @percahliaweek.

“Oh.”
It’s such a soft sound, he almost misses it.
Percival looks to Vex’ahlia, his gaze searching, questioning. “Is something wrong, dear?”
“I… believe we need to call the midwife, darling,” she says in a breathless tone, her dark eyes flicking up to meet his blue ones.
He stands with such celerity that his chair nearly topples to the floor behind him. “Pike, as well?” he asks.
“Yes, Pike, as well.”
The master suite of Whitestone Castle becomes a flurry of activity as Lady De Rolo is carefully transferred from the study to the bedroom and helped out of her tea gown. She is then arranged in the bed, towels and hot water prepared for the delivery. Lord De Rolo is at her side the whole while, murmuring affections and running his fingers through her hair as they wait for the contractions to begin in earnest. If nothing else, this is their fourth time in this particular situation and they like to think that they are used to it; Percy knows that Vex finds comfort in holding his hand, Vex knows the best position to lay in so that her contractions do not hurt quite as much. Pike, bless her, acts as the midwife’s assistant, just as she has for all the other births, monitoring her dear friend and passing over fresh towels as needed, reheating the water when it begins to cool.
This one takes longer, despite coming after four other children. (Four perfect children that Percy and Vex marvel over every single day.) It lasts throughout the night, the stars and the moons bearing witness to the new addition to the De Rolo family.
As the sun crests over the Alabaster Sierras, Vex lets out the loudest cry she’s released during the entire process, her hand squeezing tight around her husband’s, seeking solace in his touch. (If he feels as if she might just tear off his hand, he has the sense to not say a word about it.)
In the next breath, the new baby wails.
The midwife quickly passes the child (“A girl, my lady!”) over to Pike so that the gnomish cleric can clean her up. Percy notices, vaguely, that the child seems unusually red, but his attention returns to Vex as she gives his hand another–softer–squeeze.
“I believe that means we outnumber you, darling,” she says, amusement and mischief twinkling in her eyes even as exhaustion pulls at the rest of her features.
He laughs, kisses her knuckles. “I believe it does, dear heart.”
When Pike returns to the bed with their new daughter, washed and swaddled, it becomes much more apparent why he had seen so much red. Poking out of the dark curls on her head (she’ll certainly be taking after her mother, then, in that regard) are four tiny horn nubs.
Percy feels a wave of guilt wash over him, because he knows, he knows these are the ramifications for decisions he made nearly two decades ago.
Vex, however, does not react negatively to the revelation that she has given birth to a tiefling. She simply accepts the baby into her arms, cooing at her just as she has for all the others, whispering soft words about how she’s perfect and loved and welcome to the world, darling.
“This would explain why I seemed to be running a fever so often,” Vex then comments idly, as casual as if she were relaying her observations from a walk in the Parchwood.
That startles a laugh out of Percy and her warmth, her acceptance, keeps him from spiraling too far down. “I suppose it does.”
“You should hold her, too, darling,” she says, already lifting the bundle up to him.
He reaches down, moving in to cradle her in his arms, pulling her close to his chest. She is unexpected but she is theirs, a testament to the city–the lives–they have built together. She is so warm and small and he never wants to let her go. She begins fussing and, with practiced ease, he slowly walks circles around the bedroom, rocking her, making little shh, shh, shh noises. As he does so, he pauses at the window and looks down into the courtyard, watching as the last bit of scaffolding is finally taken down from around the clock tower, which had been finished but a week ago. (Well, ‘finished’ is a subjective word; he already has plans for adjustments and additions, small ways he can improve upon the parts of the tower that had been completed years prior.) With his new daughter in his arms and his Heart completed, he finds he continues ever-onward to a brighter, happier future.

Can you perhaps do a part 3 to your vox machina x child reader series something about a reveal of the readers race or something or perhaps a continuation of the story if that’s ok with you I just love your vox machina shots
Being a child member of Vox Machina and… | Vox Machina x child reader Pt. 3
Summary | Kid’s got some issues and so does Vox.
A/N | Sorry this took so long been getting into campaign 2 trying to decide if I want to do a child reader for that.
Genre | platonic, angst, fluff, mystery?
Warnings | death, descriptions of blood and violence, panic attack
Initially, you hadn’t been bitter. You didn’t fit the image one was expected to present for such a dignified social event. Not even considering your age, you were small, gangly, freckled and with hair that couldn’t keep its place. You didn’t/wouldn’t belong in a high-profile party.
Still, the joint excitement of Vox Machina had somewhat infected you. Now you found yourself wanting to attend the high-profile event. To combat your pouty face, Keyleth did your hair. Grog offered you ale, which Pike immediately shut down, and Vax tried peek-a-boo with his cloak. Ultimately, it was Percy’s promise to recount everything you’d be missing so long as you were brave and good that placated you.
Vex, you didn’t understand, was a nervous wreck. Leaving you in the keep, with no one to watch after you. Though, you would have Trinket.
It took multiple assurances from Vax and Percy before they were able to take their leave. You had the keep to yourself.
You crept with Trinket into Grog’s room. Tied only with Vex’s room, you considered his to be one of the most comfortable. With the stash of fur pelts, warm temperature and large bed, it was the perfect place to settle down until Vox returned.
After some time you heard the door, the entry to the keep open, sitting on Trinket’s back you rode to the entry. Your excitement fled upon seeing the seven in shackles, escorted by a small march of guards. In a blink, you paint yourself as a hapless child who’d only just woken. Jarrett, sympathetic to your guise, apologized for the late intrusion, explaining the terms of Vox’s arrest.
House arrest, it could be worse. Allura had essentially grounded the lot of you. Well, not you. According to Jarett, she had clarified that you were allowed to roam freely with proper adult accompaniment and so long as you returned home at a proper time.
The keep was swept clean and all the team’s weapons confiscated, including Scanlan’s instrument. Fortunately, your room was left in peace. Still, you were upset greatly watching the guards tether Trinket to a tree.
Ordered by the Sovereign to remain confined in the keep, there was nothing to do but wait. After assuring you everything would be alright, Vex passed you off to Keyleth silently mouthing an instruction to shield your ears. A thick ornate crown of lush flowers decorated your hair.
You had caught bits of what had gone down at the feast. Vax feared himself turning into a vampire. Scanlan had a book to translate. Pike was quiet. According to Grog, the food was decent.
You weren’t the type with a keen sense of smell. It was your ears that performed unnaturally well. If a tree fell in the forest and no one was around to hear it, you would. Even with Keyleth’s floral muffler, you were able to discern the biting conversation between Percival and Vex’ahlia.
Something or other about people killing Percy’s family. To be honest, you were more intrigued by the book left open on the table.
There were whispers, multiple voices at once, emanating from the dark pages. Their voices sounded distant, their words imperceptible, and yet at the same time crystal clear. Their raspy hissing voices, infecting your mind.
Stress flares up in your head. There is a moment you feel it; the fog beginning to clear. Memories starting to take shape, though still blurred like an old painting. In this moment, as certain figures began to take shape, you could feel a deep sadness traveling through every cell.
“Y/n, Magpie, are you alright?”
Vax’s voice disrupted the whispers. He had, at some point, moved. Now he knelt, crouched beside Keyleth, attention focused on you. His eyes carried a gentle concern.
Keyleth brushes a thumb across your cheeks. It’s then you realize you’re crying. Cold, silvery tears came as a frigid flood, uncontrolled and unwanted. It hadn’t been until the tender hand wiped away some of the tears that you even realized you were crying. You had no reason to, right? So you didn’t understand why you were.
Glancing to the side, over Vax’s shoulders, you notice the other members of Vox standing around the door. Percy’s peering out around the door, canvassing the corridor on the other side.
“Let’s get out of here, shall we?” Vax offered gently, extending his arms for you to jump into.
A decision had been reached between the members of Vox. You’d be breaking out. They were forced to escape under the darkness of shadow from their own keep.
Vox concluded your silent tears were the consequence of claustrophobia. A fear they understandably assumed you had, as you had been held in captivity for who knows long prior to meeting them.
This, unfortunately, was not the case.
All the while, as they twisted through the secret tunnels below the keep, you held on to Vax, trying to sort through the deluge of memories still just out of focus. The harder you tried, the more your lips trembled, tears pooling from your eyes.
Jarrett stood with a group of his men at the exit of the passage. Once again, the members of Vox found themselves under the escort of the guard. This time, though, you were all split. Vax, Vex and Scanlan had been pushed into the kitchen; Percy and Keyleth into the Percy’s workshop; Grog and Pike into the chapel.
Jarrett decided you would stay in the common area, as he believed there was little chance any of the members of Vox would try escaping without you. If only you believed that.
Fortunately, this was the room where they stored the colored chalk.
You needed to calm yourself. You stopped trying to restore the diluted memories. It made your head pound and heart sting. Instead, you settled on the stone floor and began to draw.
You could hear the whispers of a conversation between the two guards. One was complimenting your rudimentary artistic skills while also making little suggestions on how you could improve. The other was telling their partner to shut it. When the two fell silent, you looked over at them. You then extended your hand, a blue piece of chalk held between your fingers. An invitation.
Your ears twitched. You left your spot and moved to the window. As you went, you could hear an argument between the two guards over their cross hatching techniques. They did not choose the right career path.
Outside, you could hear the nervous whines of Trinket. Something was out there. Whispered hisses, not unlike those you heard emanating from the book, circled the keep. And there were screams. The kind of screams that had a raw intensity that warned of threat, and cried out of desperate need.
Moreover, there was this creeping feeling as if a dark presence was looming in your periphery, breathing icy clouds on the back of your neck. It was giving you goosebumps and a feeling of gut wrenching wrongness.
You sped to the door, only to discover the larger wooden doors were locked, and you didn’t have the key. “Slow down there, kiddo. We’re on strict orders not to let you leave this room until further notice.” One of the two guards spoke.
Your eyes narrowed, spotting the set of brass keys looped on their hip.
Your small hands pound on the door of the workshop, your little voice calling out to Percy and Keyleth, who you knew were inside. Not a moment later, the doors to the chapel busted out. They slammed against the opposite wall, splintering into pieces.
“Tiny, what’s going on!?”
You explained to Grog, as well as a child your age could you, the unsettling presence you felt closing in. Though your explanation was muddied by some fright filled babbling, both Pike and Grog appeared to take your discomfort seriously.
They rallied the others, gathering the team in the large entry of the keep. Freeing the others from their respective holding rooms, you noted, was suspiciously easy. Surely you hadn’t been the only one left under watch.
There was a discourse. Everyone was confused and on high alert. “Where is everybody?” You spoke aloud, your soft voice managing to capture Vox’s attention despite their loud conversation.
Soon after you posed the question, Jarret and three of his soldiers retreated into the building, hurriedly locking the door behind them. Immediately, they placed the blame on Vox, which you guessed was fair. But this time all in the party were, in fact, blameless.
The true assailants hid in the shadows above. Wraiths, beings who take pleasure in watching the life drain from their victims, were perched in the rafters watching the lot of you. Like predators stalking their prey. There was barely time to take arms before they took initiative and lunged for the group.
Nevermind the two guards brutally kill, it was their targeted attack on Scanlan from which Vox realized they were after the book. Eyes rolled back black inky ichor pooling from his mouth, ears, and eyelids. Vex moving quickly, grabbed the fallen spell book and passed it to Keyleth just as a wraith bled into her body.
You would be having nightmares about this.
Gathering the injured members, Vox and the last guard to remain, Jarret retreated into the war room. You were trapped. As Vex pointed out, they needed a way to fight it. You could hear the rasping, cold, hollow screams of the wraiths, even as they grew quieter, on the other side of the door.
Jarret passed Vex and Vax weapons, though even you knew such arms would be useless. Vax had tried in vain to cut through them with his dagger when they had wrenched through Scanlan. Unfortunately, their bodies were amorphous dark fluid shadows harmlessly cut through.
You had faced many threats in your time with Vox Machina. Mere days ago they’d defeated a dragon. Something about these assailants, perhaps their connection with the book, made you want to jump right out of your skin. It was paralysing. There was this foreign yet all too familiar feeling of being insignificant. Shaking, terrified, you straighten your posture awaiting the blow, you for an inexplicable reason expected to come.
You felt a hand grip your shoulder. Your defensive instincts kicked in. You went straight for the wrist, biting into what you registered as a threat. Both fortunately and unfortunately, it was only Vax. Luckily, your bite had only been a warning, no fangs.
He recoiled, his brain stuttering for a moment. He wasn’t sure what threw him more, the two puncture marks on his wrist beginning to ooze crimson or the pure look of unmatched terror in your eyes.
You had been crying earlier over what he still wasn’t sure. He’d wiped your tears and held you close. Vox had heard your pained screams and witnessed fear take over you, sending you running to hide behind one of them for safety. This terror, this raw intense dread that crippled you completely, was new.
There is a scream. Keyleth is dragged up the wall, ichor streaming from her eyes and mouth. Then the candles blow out. In one swift movement, Vax pushes you beneath the table, then ready’s himself for the inevitable battle. He'd bring up your bite later.
The sounds of Vox’s violent acts are flooded out by the noise of your heart beating in your chest. It’s the sound of war drums on the horizon, each beat taking up pace growing louder. Buh-Bum. Buh-Bum. Buh-Bum.
Silence. After a cacophony of vicious screams, the keep goes still. You feel the chill in your blood, the coldness that brought the synapses of your brain to a stand still, begin to subside. Still, your thoughts were so scattered that functioning was challenging.
“(Y/n), darling?” Vex calls out, kneeling down to see you below the table. Noting your state, she slackened her composure, her battle hardened face softened. “(Y/n), dear, I believe you’re having a panic attack. We don’t have to stay here, darling. Would you like to leave?” She offered, carefully extending a hand. You nodded and allowed her to lead you out.
The fresh air was nice and the cool breeze tickled your exposed skin. Vex stayed by your side while the others quickly gathered what was needed. Jarret had decided to release Vox against the orders of the king and allow them to handle whatever manner of being had realised such terrifying assailants.
Leaned in against Vex’s side, you were soothed by her gentle heartbeat. Trinket laid close on your other side enough so that you could stroke his fur. You had barely lifted an arm in battle. Your only true action being disarming the guards that’d watched over you, an act you’d later learned, saved their lives. Still, you were exhausted.
As things were being put into order, Vax approached, scratching at the two marks you’d left in his wrist. “(Y/n), is everything alright? Are you okay?” He asks, crouching to match your height. He was concerned you could read it on his face.
“Those things, those wraiths. You wouldn’t let them take me too, would you?”
“I believe they were only after the—" Vax begins to remind, however, he stops himself when he notices the desperate look on your face. It happens sometimes. Vox forgets you’re just a child. He flashes you one of those charming-gentle-Vax’ildan smiles. “You know we’d rip any monsters apart before we’d let them hurt you.”
You wrap your arms around his neck, standing on your tiptoes to give him a hug. “I apologise for biting you. I won’t do it again.” You whisper, relaxing into his embrace so fully it’s as if you’d melted together.
“Eh, it’s okay, Magpie. I’ve suffered worse.” Vax shrugs, peeling away from the hug.
"Now you ready to go kill some vampires?”

Curling up with your head in his lap, you felt his fingers start to weave through your hair. A few minutes ago, you’d asked him what he had done the night before. If Morgan had been here, he would have called that question a grave mistake, but you would never call getting to hear your love infodump a mistake. It was one of the great pleasures in your life.
You were well aware of the fact that last night was a Thursday, so you knew exactly what you’d signed up for. He always, if his work schedule allowed it, did the same thing on Thursday nights.
“And so then, they got this letter from none other than Vex’ahlia! And of course, they made Laura read it out loud,” even though you weren’t looking at him anymore, you could still hear in his voice just how hard he was smiling, “and it was so comforting to hear her again. It was like when Allura and Kima got involved in campaign 2, I honestly almost cried, not because it was sad, I just miss and love them so much!”
Softly running his short fingernails over your scalp, “and of course that moment also made me think of when I read kith and kin last winter, or I listened to the audiobook version, which also is reading, it doesn’t matter how you get the story, just that you get it. Anyways, that audiobook had their voices reading it! The right ones! It wasn’t just Liam and Laura reading, it was the twins!”
Letting out a warm yawn, you let your eyes fall shut, “and the story itself had no business being that good, and not just because it’s a part of a world I hold near and dear to my heart, but just the book itself was so good. And you know, in that, we finally got the backstory of Simon, Vax’ildan’s belt? We found out pretty quickly that it took place in a time he didn’t have it yet, and when we did see it, it was on a man named Thorn, so we automatically know that he must be someone important to the story because he had the serpent belt, he had Simon! So then, this whole big tragic romance ensues, and he ends up getting the belt.”
He then hop-skipped around, explaining random things and somehow ended up trying to explain something called the calamity. As his enthusiastic voice slowly faded away, you had a feeling that his bedtime story would end up making you dream about walking through the streets of Emon, hand in hand, with him as your guide.

I went though your prompt list and really liked these two. •dropping kisses on their forehead, cheeks and hands casually
•hugging them from behind
Just general fluffy domestic head canons with my favorite ladies.
Thanks so much ❤️
hey darling!! sorry this took me so long, rough couple days!! But hopefully, I'm back on!! requests are open, darlings!!
reblogs > likes
Vex’ahlia • Vex had never anticipated falling in love with you, but as it happened, as she realized her feelings… she wasn’t mad about it. Vax absolutely teased her to no end about her crush, but at the end of the day, he was just happy that Vex found someone else who loved her as much as he did. • You’re her partner; she absolutely adores you. • She’s probably one of the least shy of VM; she confessed her feelings a little while after she told Vax about them. It was over a nice dinner where she spared no expense. You want the fancy ass dessert? Let’s share it. • Her shows of affection started basically right after she confessed. Grabbing your hands while traveling to press kisses to your knuckles. Arms around your waist as you fix a meal for VM. Sweet whispered nothings that would make most of the party gag if they heard (and prompt a sex joke or two from Scanlan). • The room arrangements change pretty quickly; Vax now bunking with Scanlan and Keyleth and you and Vex in the same bed. • She’s always been a wake up first kinda gal, her and Vax trying to ‘beat’ each other to waking up. If you’re like her and she happens to wake up first, she’ll pepper your face and neck with kisses until you wake up. If you hate every single thing in the morning and would probably kill someone who woke you up, she’ll lay in bed, spooning you from behind with her head in the nape of your neck. • Whenever she gets the chance around the keep, she’ll kiss any part of you she can – forehead, cheek, shoulder, so on. • She absolutely adores you and makes it clear through her words and actions often.
Keyleth • She’s incredibly shy about her feelings at first. There’s so much VM has to do and so much on her shoulders. She’s supposed to complete her Aramente and lead the Ashari and- • But then there’s you. And you’re sweet and charming and she felt she shouldn’t be worried at all about feelings and such but she is. • Do you like her back?? Does she actually like you or does she like the attention?? • It isn’t too long before Keyleth realizes that, nope, she has a lot of feelings for you. They’re legitimate and she can’t ignore them. • She’ll end up with some advice from Scanlan about wooing someone. And sweet, innocent girl she is – she definitely won’t follow it. It’s horny and weird and she’s not that. • Instead, she druid crafts you a bouquet of flowers in your favorite color. (red; https://www.pinterest.com/pin/344384702768635616/ . Orange; https://www.pinterest.com/pin/70439181664602593/ . Green; https://www.pinterest.com/pin/903886587686860156/ . Blue; https://www.pinterest.com/pin/155303887491657834/ . Purple; https://budget-bride.com/products/mila-collection-2017228-20-280?variant=42995462242537&F66=Just+Like+The+Picture .) • She’ll try to woo you as much as she possibly can – flowers, notes, just about anything she can in hopes of making sure you like her back. • After she finally realizes that you do like her back, every day is spent as close to you as possible. She absolutely adores snuggling whenever she can, holding hands while traveling, curling up besides you as Minxie when she’s decided she just doesn’t have the social energy. • She loves to kiss the inside of your wrist when she gets the chance, because that also leads to you holding her face and nuzzling. • All in all, she’s not too strong, but still wraps her arms around your waist and tries to pick you up – usually doesn’t work. That is, unless she gets teased by some of the other party and will use some vines to pick you up.
Pike • Pike was always a sweetheart to you, more so than she was to everybody else. • She’s pretty straightforward about her feelings. It takes her a little while to fully come to terms – she talks to Grog and Serenae about it and gets some advice that she decides probably isn’t the best approach. • It’s quick that she establishes her relationship with you, both verbally and symbolically. She’ll tell anybody she sees eyeing you “I know – isn’t my partner just stunning?” then plant a kiss on your hand and tug you away, smiling just a bitttt smugly. • She’s a bit too short to hug you from behind without putting her head in the small of your back or, if you’re taller, on your ass – so she tries not to do that. • With that said, if you’re sitting in in the cart while traveling or around the keep, she’ll sit behind you and wrap her arms around you and rest her chin on your shoulder, asking what you’re doing and if you want company. • She’ll always always always kiss your hands whenever she gets the chance, it’s a lot easier than trying to reach your face. • However! She’s Pike! She’s gonna get there if she wants to. • And she’ll do that however she has to, most often, climbing on furniture or the other members of VM to get to your face. • When she goes, she presses her nose to yours and grins, softly greeting you with a “hi, baby.” • Often, Vex or Percy will tell her to ‘stop standing on the damn table, that’s where we eat!’ so she does so by wrapping her arms around your neck and saying in the sweetest voice she can possibly muster “pick me up, hon???”
Cassandra • Straight up: Cassandra is so damn starved of love and affection that she’s shocked when you start showing affection towards her. • She’s quite skittish, so it does take a little while for her to settle into a position where you can kiss her without warning and she doesn’t flinch. • She’s suffered a lot and it led to her being defensive and unsure about letting strangers in. Then again, who isn’t a stranger anymore? Even her brother is… • She’s the only one that you would have to work for the affection of. • That being said, it’s absolutely worth it when you earn that affection. • You’re the person she goes to after meetings to bitch about nobles from other cities. You’re the first person she wants opinions from on passing laws and societal changes that she can control. So on and so forth. • She’s not quite at a point where she initiates physical contact that is as straightforward as hugs or kisses, but she will set her hands on your knees if you attend meetings alongside her. • If she’s feeling confident enough, she will absolutely kiss your forehead as she walks by or let her hands linger on the small of your back. • Once or twice in a blue moon, when she wakes up insanely drowsy and out of it, she will come up to wherever you are and snake her arms around your waist and hide her face in your neck – usually dozing back off. • She’s pretty tiny and easy to pick up and carry back to bed. She’s less than 100 pounds. Truly, not hard in the slightest.

Can you do head canons for vox machina after you have to get revived
Tumblr media
Depending on how you died, it would’ve hurt the group all the same. Having someone out of their rag tag group meeting an unfortunate end and they’re unable to prevent it from occurring? It’s not a nice a feeling in the slightest.
So it was only natural for Vax, Vex, Percy, Keyleth, Scanlan, Pike and Grog to feel as though they were all partially to blame for your death. It’s a feeling that they would carry with them even after you’ve been revived.
Death wasn’t something one can easily walk away from after being revived and you weren’t any different. If anything the experience of dying then being brought back changed you in ways unknown to yourself until someone were to be upfront about it to you.
Keyleth and Pike would constantly be checking on you after even something as small as a minor inconvenience. Healing you almost straight away even if it was something as small as a paper cut. One of them would always be seen by your side during battles with the additions of Percy and vex acting as long range shooters for opponents Pike and Keyleth couldn’t quite reach with their depleting energy.
Vax would be watching over you like a goddamn hawk, making sure no one tried to pull a fast one over you, always having your back during fights. Vex would also go out of her way to have your back during a fight but in a more discreet manor then the reckless manor her twin would take. Going so far as to scold you whenever you did something reckless in battle or went a little too far out for her liking; But her tone of words and the look in her eyes didn’t match up.
Percy would make upgrades to your weapons or completely make you a new one from scratch when he wasn’t satisfied with the lack of efficiency from your weapon. He’d go through all the processes with you on what does what but it doesn’t really matter as much like Vax he would look out for you in battle, gunning down assailants from a distance and then deny it when confronted about it like…your the only one in the group with a fucking gun dude, I heard gunshots. So naturally I’m going to assume.
Scanlan would take a more light hearted approach in comparison to his friends. Whilst they’re all trying to provide you with protection from any and all harm, the bard would go instead provide you with some company. He’d joke and jest but you noted how his smile reached his eyes nor did his laughter sound completely genuine, Alamo as though he were distracted.
He also makes a mean sandwich so I wouldn’t be surprised if he made an extra special one for you and when you’d ask for the occasion for this random act of service, he’d merely shrug it off as him doing something for a friend.
Grog would probably be protective over you in battle, always picking off the hardest ones so that you would’ve ever have to deal with it yourself. He’s your wall of protection and is more then willing to take all the physical punishment then allow you to even pertain a harmless bruise.
Over all, they would be protective over you in their own way and would gladly form a protective shield out of their own bodies strewn out in front of you if needs be. A good majority of them (Percy, Vax, Vex, etc) have lost good people that were once close to them. They’ve lost you once and there’s no way in hell would they allow that to ever happen again. Get mad at them all you like, try to push them away but they don’t care, their hearts can only take so much breakage despite what their hardened visages would like to say.

How would Vex help an shy S/O who unlike Vex is not very confident in their skin.
Brought to by an experience I recently had. Having to go swimsuit shopping and most of it being revealing in some way and generally not fitting being too large/small in certain areas.
Please and thank you
That’s valid! It’s all on your own time and how you’re feeling
Tumblr media
I see Vex as the type to be very patient and understanding at her core. If she senses something hesitant, she’ll try and see where you’re coming from but not in an intrusive way
Patiently, she talk to you and see your feelings from your POV. I can see her being equally empathetic and sympathetic
“Darling, it’s alright. It’s just me. You don’t have to hide it from me. Everything is on your own time.”
On the plus side, she’ll be very heartfelt in her compliments to you.
Praising how you look in whatever you wear and how it compliments all parts of you

Could you do some headcanons for vex x percy please?
Yes!!! I love them so
Percahlia headcanons
Percy is a SIMP. S I M P SIMP for Vex’ahlia. Anything she wants, he’s got it. Vex has him wrapped around his finger.
Vex has a high sex drive. And I mean HIGH. She can go all night and Percy started keeping healing potions in the bedside drawer to keep up. One day he’ll tire her out. It just hasn’t happened yet.
When Percy gets into his moods, and hides himself in his workshop for days on end, Vex is the only one who can coax him out to eat and sleep. When it gets really bad and even she can’t pull him away, she’ll leave a glass of water on his work table and a plate of snacks, and wait for him upstairs. He always comes around eventually.
Vex would die if anyone found out, but she’s a cuddler. She is wrapped around Percy like a snake while they sleep.
Percy is extremely protective. Since the night in Purvan’s Tomb, Percy is fiercely watching over her. He never forgave himself for that night.
The only reason Vex puts up with the exhaustion of noble life is because she loves Percy. She would not be hosting galas and talking it up with boring aristocrats if Percy were not by her side.
They’re not an overly affectionate couple in public, but at many an event you’ll find the lords arm wrapped around his lady’s waist.

7 & 13 for the fanfic asks!!! (Also, HI!) :)
hi!! :) like i said, i'll answer 13 on the other ask lol
7. Post a snippet from a WIP
“I never thought I’d get this.”
The whisper is just barely loud enough to wake Vex from a half-doze, and she looks over to see Percy sitting beside her, leaned against the headboard, with Vesper in his arms. His eyes are locked on the girl’s sleeping (finally, thank all the gods) face, but there’s a faraway, glassy look to them. Vex would be worried about where his mind was if not for the soft, weak smile on his face.
“What, a daughter?” she murmurs with a grin, pushing up to one elbow - which, at the moment, is far more difficult than she’d care to admit - and craning her neck a bit to look at her daughter (her daughter - it still feels surreal, and she doubts it’ll ever stop). At just the sight of her, wispy black hair and still-pink skin, Vex’s heart stumbles over a beat (and she doubts that’ll ever stop, either).
“I didn’t bet,” Percy says a bit absentmindedly. Of course he didn’t - that’s her thing.
(from a looooooooong term WIP about each of the de rolo babies :)) )

“Again? Tonight?” Scanlan followed Percy around the keep, his little legs moving twice as fast as Percy’s to be at his same level. “And you thought you could go without me?”
“Scanlan, we do not have to drink together every night,” Percy smiled as he grabbed his coat and put it on and looked into a nearby glass, making out whatever he could of his reflection for a final check.
“Yeah, Scanlan, let him go alone to flirt with his girlfriend,” Grog teased from the other end of the hallway with Vax laughing alongside him.
“She is not my girlfriend,” the gunslinger, in all the severity of his tone, turned to hide the heat that had begun to rise to his face, proceeding to mutter under his breath, “if she were my girlfriend, I wouldn’t need to flirt with her.”
“Some girls still like to be flirted with even when they’re committed, Percival,” Vex walked into the keep’s main corridor flanked by Keyleth and Pike.
“Ooh, what’s this about?” Keyleth asked, curiosity beaming from her.
“This knucklehead is going drinking without us to flirt with the hot singer at the bar,” Scanlan tattled. “Look at him, he’s wearing his fancier coat and everything.”
“Give it a rest, Scanlan,” Percy huffed.
“I mean, I don’t blame him,” Scanlan continued, a devious grin appearing on his smug little face. “Girl’s bazongin’ hot, ya know? Fuck, I might sneak in there every night myself, see if I can teach her some new positions—”
Scanlan was interrupted by an incoming boot—one of his own, from the looks of it—which had been accurately thrown at his head by Percy.
“What the fuck?!” Scanlan complained.
“I will request you to not speak of her in that manner,” Percy scowled.
“Chillax, it’s not like she’s your girlfriend,” said Scanlan.
“Respectful language towards women must not hinge on whether or not they are in a relationship—” Percy cut himself off and facepalmed, baffled that he even had to explain it. “Just stay here tonight, will you?”
The gnome grumbled as he retreated back into the keep with a giggling Grog following close behind him, and just as Percy settled the last details of his outfit, his gaze trailed on his faint reflection in the glass, he could feel three pairs of eyes curiously staring at him.
“What is it?” He asked them.
“You really are smitten, aren’t you?” Vex raised a brow.
Percy hesitated. “I’m not.”
“Aren’t you?” Vex continued. “So, your newfound feelings for whoever this woman is aren’t the reason why you’re going out alone to drink for probably the fifth night in a row?”
Again, Percy hesitated. “That’s right.”
“Care to explain?” Vex pushed.
Percy scoffed. “Vex’ahlia, as much as we are part of the same team, I do not owe you or anyone information of my whereabouts in my leisure time, especially if I’m not doing anything dubious, which is more than I can say for at least a couple of our members. But if you must know, I enjoy the ambience of this tavern. Yes, I enjoy this woman’s singing, and I enjoy the wine, the service, the food—and did I mention the fact that so long as I’m there by myself, I don’t have to worry about being banned because of some ridiculous fight or lack of funds?”
“You’ll get banned for loitering,” Pike snickered.
“Or from constantly drooling at the singer,” Keyleth followed.
“Can’t imagine the tavern owner will be really happy to have you go in night after night to gawk at her,” Vex said. “She’s a pretty girl, of course he’ll be on the lookout for creepy guys.”
“I am not creepy,” Percy huffed. “And I’m consuming a fair amount for the duration of my stay. I’m sure the owner doesn’t have a problem with me.”
Percy wrapped a scarf around his neck and opened the door, setting out to the cool night. “I shall see you later, then.”
“Cool,” Vex said. “Let us know when you get kicked out.”
“Ah, it’s always so heartwarming to have one’s friends be concerned,” Percy replied, his tone filled with sarcasm.”
“Don’t do anything Scanlan would do!” Keyleth called after Percy just before the door closed behind him.
Percival slowly shook his head as he smiled at his friends’ antics. A second family to him, he’d never take what they said the wrong way—well, perhaps Scanlan tended to push a little too close to the line, but even he had his moments.
But as much as he denied his interest, Percy had been eager for the night to arrive. Whether she sang or not, he just wanted to see Aurora, and that was a thought he wouldn’t dare to voice out loud in front of any of his friends.
He chuckled at their nosiness, finding it slightly endearing, so long as it wouldn’t wreak havoc on his own endeavor the way it usually would during a common job.
*
As Aurora poured a cup of warm water for herself from the kettle at the back of the bar, she felt Anvor’s gaze steadily on her. She was no stranger to his intense concern, but even that seemed a little much to him. As soon as she finished pouring the cup, before taking a sip from it, she met her adoptive father’s eyes and smiled.
“Pa? What is it?”
Anvor stifled a grumble. “You’ve worn that necklace six nights in a row.”
“I like it a lot,” Aurora smiled, her fingertips trailing over the moonstone emblem.
“Clearly,” he brooded.
“Tell me,” she knew too well when he was hiding something.
“Oh, there’s nothing wrong at all,” Anvor said with an excessive calmness. “Just that I’ve noticed you haven’t been the only one repeating behavior for those same six nights in a row.”
“What?” Aurora laughed, attempting to dismiss his concerns. “I don’t know what you could possibly be referring to.”
“A certain man with white hair and glasses,” Anvor nearly growled the description out. “You’ve been wearing that necklace for him, haven’t you?”
“And what if I have?” Aurora took another sip from her warm water.
“You know what I’ve told you about customers who pay too much attention to you,” Anvor said, his tone disciplinary, but his eyes flooding with worry.
“Pa, I know,” she said rationally. “I haven’t forgotten. But I trust this man, and I really think you’d like him. His name is Percival, he’s a very intelligent and skilled engineer, he’s refined and has the best manners of anyone who’s ever set foot in this tavern.”
“Aurora, six nights don’t let you know a person on a deep level,” Anvor countered.
Aurora’s eyes flashed as an idea entered her head. “I agree. How about we invite him to dinner?”
“Are you not listening to me?” Anvor said.
“I am,” Aurora took a seat at the bar next to him. “But try to listen to me now. You know I have sixth, seventh, and eight senses. I know things about people, and I have found no reason to distrust Percival.”
“None at all?”
Aurora would not deny the pain and the sorrow buried deep within Percy’s gaze. He’d been visiting her the whole week, and even when Percy gave her his most welcoming smile, she could sense an abysmal sadness within him and, undeniably, anger.
But Aurora knew that sadness and anger, whether having nor feeling them, did not make one a bad person, and when she met Anvor’s eyes, she was able to firmly shake her head in denial.
“Give him a chance, Pa,” Aurora persuaded. “Please?”
Anvor averted his gaze over to the tavern’s door, his gaze suddenly becoming heavier, which to Aurora could only mean one thing. She barely gave Anvor a chance to refuse, and soon she was off to greet Percy the way she had done each night before taking the stage.
“I’m so glad you made it!” She chanted happily. “Are you alone again tonight?”
“I am, but barely,” Percy chuckled. “It’s getting harder each night to go out drinking alone. One day, at least one of the gnomes will latch onto my legs.”
She giggled at the thought and found herself toying with one of the strands of hair falling down her shoulder.
“Um… Percival?” She said softly.
As he prompted her to continue with his gaze, Percy could feel his heart thud.
“Would you, perhaps, like to meet someplace different from here one of these days?” She muttered, her cheeks already heating up.
Percy chuckled. “I’d be delighted, Aurora.”
“Good,” she knew the next part would be more difficult, and decided to just blurt it out. “Because my father’s noticed you and I are spending more time together here and he wants to meet you.”
Percy tried his best to hide the shock. “What? Really?”
She grimaced, realizing how imposing that had been. “Yeah… Sorry, you’re right, it’s nuts—”
“No, not at all,” Percy smiled, stuttering only a bit. “I’m honored that he wants to meet me.”
“Really?”
His charming smile widened. “Really.”
“Oh,” Aurora said, her voice breathy. “Good, well… is tomorrow night for dinner good for you?”
Percy noticed the shaking in her voice, and he looked more intently at her, visibly calming her down.
“Just give me an address and I’ll be there,” he said.
She blushed. “Great…”
The two smiled at each other in silence until Aurora kicked herself back to reality.
“Um… I should probably get on stage, but, will I see you when I finish?”
“I’ll be right here,” he told her.
“Good, well…” she hesitated, tripping on a chair behind her and blushing harder as she tried to regain her composure. “I’ll, uh, see you then.”
Aurora stumbled away trying desperately to calm down—she would just faint if her voice sounded squeaky while she sang. She could take comfort in the fact that things were going good so far, and dinner with him would be absolutely perfect.
From below the stage, as unexpected as that turn of events had been, Percy watched her singing more happily than he could have before that.
The following night, Percy had left without a word to anyone. He’d dressed even better than the night prior, with his darkest coat and his finest ascot, and he’d slipped away as if he didn’t want to catch any attention, clutching the napkin where Aurora had written her address on tightly in his hand.
Of course, he had to be daft if he thought he hadn’t caught his friends’ attention.
“I say we follow him,” Scanlan suggested, splattered on a chair with nothing better to do.
“No,” Vax intervened. “Just leave him be.”
“But consider the following—”
“No,” Vex and Vax said in unison.
“I agree with Scanlan,” Grog said. “What if Percy’s in trouble?”
“He’s going to see that girl again, he’s not in trouble,” Vax dismissed.
“Unless he fucks it up somehow,” Vex muttered, not looking up from the patterns she absently taced on Trinket’s fur.
“Well then, if we see what he’s doing, think of all the juicy gossip you’ll be able to share with Gilmore next time you see him,” Scanlan motivated.
“Tempting, but still no,” Vax said, admittedly, this time only to tease.
Silence fell among the common room at the keep with the steady cracking of the fireplace in the background, until shyly, Keyleth stood up and went to step in the middle of all the teammates.
“Actually…” Keyleth said. “I kinda want to see what he’s up to—no reason at all, I just… wanna see.”
“Three to three,” Scanlan announced.
Vax sighed and set his daggers down on the table. “We really doing this?”
“Fuck yes!” Grog chanted. “Five to three!”
“Four, Grog,” Vex said. “But seeing as how none of us have any better plans for tonight, you might as well count me in.”
Grog and Scanlan cheered as Vex stood up to join their ranks, leaving Pike to be the last one attempting to be rational. She sulked in the corner as five other pairs of eyes stared her down, and she could only scratch the back of her head, averting her gaze from them.
“I mean… Percy has a right to his privacy,” the honorably cleric within Pike spoke up. “And if he didn’t bring it up, it’s because he wants to keep it to himself for a while, you all know what he’s like.”
The rest exchanged looks.
“But…” Grog pouted. “I can’t go on a spy mission without my buddy.”
He’d hit Pike’s weak spot. “Grog… buddies…”
“And what if we want to stop for some ale afterwards?” Scanlan persuaded. “Are you really going to leave Grog to drink all by himself?”
Pike struggled until, with a deep groan, she gave in. “Fine. But I am not engaging in any gossip afterwards.”
“Yes you are,” Vex smirked. “So that’s all of us.”
“I already got the spyglass from Percy’s room,” Scanlan chuckled. “Don’t tell him I was in there or he’ll lock me up in a cabinet somewhere.”
“It’s funny cuz you’d actually fit there,” Grog laughed.
“No shit,” Scanlan replied.
“Can you shut up?!” Vax scolded. “We have to catch up to Percy.”
“Right!” Scanlan ran up to the front. “Let’s do this and please, for the love of one-night stands, don’t fuck this up.”
“So elegant, Scanlan,” Keyleth rolled her eyes.

Percy had only just knocked on the door when he pressed his hands together behind him to still his tremor, and then the door finally opened, revealing Aurora.
She was dressed in a cool-toned, buttoned brown dress that ended just above her knees, an outfit far more casual than what she often wore to perform, but she made it look beautiful nonetheless. Her hair, instead of being let down loose like she usually had it, was pulled in a long and pleasantly messy side braid that went down her left shoulder, with little white gems scattered along her hairdo, ranging from her crown to the end of her braid. And on her neck, she wore the same moonstone necklace, even if it contrasted with her brown dress. She didn’t seem to mind so long as she could wear it.
Percy smiled at her, his heart skipping a leap. “Hello.”
“Hey,” she returned a bright grin at him, and her eyes seemed to sparkle. “Come in, come in.”
“Thanks, he muttered as Aurora closed the door behind him. “I hope I’m not here too early.”
“Oh, no,” she faced him. “My dad’s just finishing up, probably pacing the floor like he always does. He’ll be down in a bit.”
As Percy nodded, a deep breath escaped him, and Aurora noticed the faint shudder his body gave.
“Don’t be nervous,” she said to him. “It’s gonna be fine, alright?”
“Right,” Percy answered, evidently skeptical.
Aurora giggled. “Come, let me show you around in the meantime.”
Percy smiled softly at her as Aurora set out to show him around her humble lair, while outside, a different story transpired.
Through the spyglass, the others took turns looking at the scene. All of them huddled, practically an amalgamated ball of a Goliath, three half-elves, and two gnomes, and with Grog holding a branch and leaves over his head to attempt to appear normal, it was a miracle no one had spotted them yet.
When it was Scanlan’s turn to look through the spyglass, hearing his friends’ speculations in the background, he directed the device towards the window, getting a glimpse inside the humble house, where it seemed the elven singer directed Percy to the living room while they waited and, from the looks of it, made small talk.
“Isn’t it ironic that we’re using Percy’s spyglass to spy on him?” Pike commented.
“Well, if you invent something, you have to live with its flaws, I suppose,” Vax grunted as he tried to squeeze through a brush. “Hey, Kiki, I’m thinking we could use a little extra cover—”
“Oh—MY GODS—” Scanlan interrupted, his voice high and excited, breathy as though he’d just witnessed a miracle. He let down the spyglass and, having recognized the father figure who’d entered the room to hesitantly greet Percy, he turned around to face the others, his eyes beaming with stars in them. “We’re…. we’re gonna get free booze!”
“Alright!” Grog celebrated. “Why, though?”
“Because, my giant buffoon,” Scanlan handed him the spyglass. “It seems that Percy’s girlfriend’s dad is none other than that tavern’s owner.”
“No way,” said Vex as she took the spyglass from Grog and looked through it. She first got a look at Aurora—she was pretty, indeed, and she could see why Percy was so attracted to her—to later get a look at the father in question, but it sparked questions within her.
“What is it, sister?” Vax asked her.
Vex looked at him, setting down the glass. “She’s an elf. If that human man is her father, she should be a half-elf at the most.”
“Vex, who the fuck cares?” Scanlan smirked. “Free booze, Vex’ahlia. Focus on the important things.”
“Don’t tell me you’ll start a vendetta over this,” Vax teased his twin.
“Of course not. She seems lovely, and in either case, Percy’s standards aren’t as low as we’ve known,” she side-eyed Scanlan. “I’m just curious as to what an elf is doing in that particular context.”
“Good idea, Vex, let’s get closer,” Vax whispered as he snuck out from behind the bush, leaving the rest to follow as quietly and gracefully as they could—it wasn’t much.
They pressed themselves to the wall underneath the front window and listened in as much as they could. Inside, the table was being set and the three were taking their seats; Aurora and Percy sat on one side of the table facing the window while Anvor took a seat across from Percy, his back turned on the view to the outside.
As Aurora poured three cups of tea with a graceful smile on her face, she did her best to look equally at Anvor and at Percy, trying to keep the tensions low. Still, it was obvious that Anvor didn’t really intend to be nice that night, and the glare with which he watched Percival was obvious.
“Tell me, Percival,” he broke the silence, his gruff voice carrying an edge of inquisition in it. “Where are you from?”
Percy tensed, almost imperceptibly, at the question he’d known to expect and dreaded nonetheless. It took him longer than he’d have wanted to look up from his cup of tea, knowing that being respectful to Aurora’s father was priority that night, and keeping his voice as still as possible, he resolved that honesty would be the best solution.
Before he could give an answer, however, from the outside came the sound of an object tipping over and falling followed by a medium pitched groan that sounded neither human nor animal, driving their attention to the front window.
“What was that?” Anvor questioned.
“Probably a cat,” Aurora said, her tone relaxed. “You know how they like to wander around the houses at night.”
He looked over at her with concern. “Did you leave any food out? Any packages?”
“No, just the tools we use for the chimney,” she replied. “I’ll pick them up after dinner.”
For a moment, Percy’s mind began to wander at the possibility of it not being cats outside, but rather a group of very familiar faces who understood no boundaries. He brushed the thought off, however. For all of Vox Machina’s reputation, even they couldn’t be as unhinged as that.
Unfortunately, the little hiccup in the conversation didn’t erase the question Anvor had asked, and an answer was still expected from Percy. He breathed in quietly, steadied his mind, and then he spoke.
“I’m from Whitestone, sir.”
Anvor leaned back on his chair, crossing his arms. “Whitestone, huh?”
Percy gulped. “Yes. Though I left many years ago, and I haven’t returned.”
“And why is that?” Anvor inquired, quite obviously digging for information.
Percy hesitated. “Things were just better here.”
“Ah,” Anvor replied. “Clearly.”
From across the table, Aurora gave him a be nice look. She never liked the mention of Whitestone in any context, but even she knew Whitestone’s sins weren’t Percy’s. And once her gaze found her beau again, Aurora leaned her elbow on the table and her cheek in her hand, looking closely at Percy and the way his spirits had also dropped at the question.
It wouldn’t surprise her if he’d suffered at their hands too despite being a native from there, and suddenly, the sadness she’d felt within him began to make more sense.
“Well, I think none of us at this table like to hear that name,” Aurora said softly. “Especially not with recent events.”
“It looks like we’ll agree on something tonight after all,” Anvor said before a tense silence dropped upon the dining table again.
Aurora cleared her throat in an attempt to save the night. “I, uh… I made some peach cake,” she said to Percy. “I hope you’ll like it.”
Some of the weight on Percy’s shoulders seemed to wash off as he gave her a soft smile. “Is that what smells so great?”
“I’m sure it is,” Aurora said.
Anvor got up. “I’ll get it.”
It didn’t take a genius to realize Anvor wasn’t very happy with the current situation, but so long as Percy was there, Aurora didn’t want to ponder much on it. She looked over at Percy and gave him a reassuring smile, which thankfully, he returned. Silently, Aurora looked down below the table at her hand resting on her thigh, and she noticed Percy’s hand was perched similarly on his except for the fact that his hand was balled to a fist, his knuckles no doubt going white under his gloves.
She didn’t fully think of it. Slowly, her hand began to move closer to his, and she extended her pinky finger, shyly brushing the tip against his glove to get his attention. Percy noticed, and when their eyes met, Aurora could feel warmth rushing to her cheeks as a bashful, charming smile involuntarily curved her lips.
Percy exhaled, and not for the first time that night, he visibly relaxed. He hesitated, perhaps worried that Anvor would see him holding her hand and kick him out of his home for good.
It didn’t matter if he did, and if such a thing happened, it would have been worth it. Her eyes had a gentle, inviting sparkle, the friendliest look he’d ever been addressed with, and the way that she shyly beckoned to hold his hand squeezed his heart and made his chest ache. Reciprocating her sentiment, Percy relaxed his hand and extended his fingers until they found hers with the same reticence, with at first only their ring fingers entwining before their hands shifted to fully hold, now locking fingers completely under the table.
And her gaze was still friendly, warm. The mention of his heritage made Percy sink too far down in his own past; he hadn’t bothered to question why an odd family of two would be so wary of the same name. To bring it up again would be unwise, and besides, at any moment of his life, no matter the circumstances, he would rather settle for Aurora’s lovely gaze comforting him.
Tick!
The sound of what seemed like a little pebble hitting the window, as normal as it could have been, had both Aurora and Percy looking at the glass before them.
Percy went cold, and his free hand flew up to his forehead to hide his embarrassment, as Aurora stifled a giggle as she recognized the top half of the large Goliath head that was peering from under the window. The sight vaguely reminded Aurora of a child’s toy when another five head-tops took the same position, one at a time, each eyeing the inside of the little house with equal curiosity and lack of discretion.
As quietly as he could, Percy glared at them and made a gesture for them to leave, and just before Anvor made his way back to the table, the watchers outside the window disappeared from sight and left as quietly as they had arrived.
Percy sighed—he knew he shouldn’t have put it beneath them.
Thanks to Aurora steering the conversation, the rest of the night was as pleasant as it could be—despite the elephants in the room, of course. Aurora had never expected Anvor to rapidly become fond of Percy, as no father was ever quick to love their daughter’s new beau. Whenever the two of them could engage in some sort of conversation, even if it was small talk, her heart would do leaps with gratitude, but each of those conversations died out quickly, and ultimately, it was up to her and Anvor’s cooking to carry the chatter.
Aurora would have loved to hug or even kiss Percy goodbye, even if it was just a peck on the cheek, or him kissing her hand. Her mind went hazy whenever she looked at him, and there wasn’t a fiber in her body that didn’t want to feel him close. She still felt her hand buzzing with little shocks at the way they’d held hands, and since then, her cheeks had a faint shade of pink decorating them.
Sadly, Anvor watched them like a hawk, and the most Aurora and Percy could manage was a little smile and a distanced, faint bow like they lived centuries before their time. Percy handled it with grace, however, and he directed Anvor a well-mannered goodbye before stepping out of the house.
Percy sighed and looked up at the moons glowing in the sky; the larger one had a faint purple gleam to it that reminded him of Aurora.
Of course, he expected that as soon as he stepped into the keep, if not sooner, his friends would be all over him asking him questions. He chose to hold onto the memory of Aurora’s hand in his, and with a faint smile, he made his way back home.
Aurora wouldn’t be as lucky.
They had cleared up what remained on the table in silence, until Aurora was finally able to catch Anvor’s attention, causing him to give a heavy sigh.
“It’s not gonna happen, kiddo,” Anvor said as he headed to the kitchen.
“I beg to differ,” Aurora said calmly. “It really isn’t your decision to make.”
“Except you are going to listen to me on this,” he imposed.
“Pa—”
“Aurora, the lad is from Whitestone,” he said, his tone final. “I cannot understand how you’re overlooking that.”
“Pa, you say that as if he was the one who burnt down the village when for all we know he was but a two year old that night,” Aurora said, surprised at her own willingness to talk back to her father like that.
Anvor paused too, and he sighed. “Whitestone is bad news, Aurora. And I did not pull you out from the ashes of that raid for you to go and mingle with one of them.”
He turned his back on her and went on to dry a few of the recently washed dishes to try and wash some of the bitterness away from him, even though Aurora’s silence was deeply unsettling. Anvor knew how much she liked this guy, he could see the way she looked at him, but it wasn’t something Anvor could bring himself to allow.
“He left,” Aurora broke the silence. “He chose to leave Whitestone.”
Anvor put down the dishes and looked over at her, and he saw her more serious and confident than he’d ever seen her.
“And I’m certain he left because he wasn’t okay with any of it either,” she concluded.
He paced across the room and went over to his chair in front of the fireplace, staring at the flame.
“You’re certain?” He inquired.
“Yes. I feel it.”
“You hope too much,” Anvor said.
“And you have too little faith,” Aurora walked over and stood between him and the fireplace. “That kingdom’s sins cannot be his by default like Emon’s can’t be ours, we have to be better than that.”
Anvor sighed and rubbed his forehead. “I’m sorry, pumpkin. I just can’t allow it.”
Her heart sank. “Well… that’s a shame…”
And more than a shame, it would be a pain to disagree with her Pa on something so important to her, and besides, it would be a problem that would soon catch up to the course of events.
She felt there would be little that could stop chaos from erupting.
