Ok, so a little rather late for an Audio Drama Sunday post, but I wanted to share what an epic weekend we had at Horrorcon UK in Sheffield 11-12th May.
Myself, Daivd Ault and James Cleveland (all from The NoSleep Podcast) were there promoting "Horror in Audio Fiction", trying to get more people to discover audio drama and fiction through podcasts, and not assuming all podcasts were two blokes talking about stuff into a mic.
Having worked on over a 100 shows between us, (with a lot of horror), it became a game of "Tell us what kind of horror you like, and we'll recommend a show for you to listen to".
From the big anthology shows like NoSleep, and the very British and queer Shadows at the the Door, we kept finding more shows to talk about and add to an ever-growing flow chart.
Shows we were flag waving for included:
The NoSleep Podcast
Shadows at the Door
@re-dracula
@thekilda
@woebegonepod
Dark Dice
Red Odyssey
Audible Visions Drama
Creepy
Campfire Radio Theatre
The Wicked Library
Victoria's Lift
The Dead
@lessismorguepod
The Hidden Frequencies
And it wasn't just horror! We gave shoutouts to @camlannpod and the sci-fi series Cyclone as well!
In all, a wonderful weekend introducing people to the incredible world of audio drama and fiction.
i cannot say if wildbow did it on purpose but a child regarded as innately evil removed from her parent through force and adopted into a white family with the express purpose of exploiting her power and removing the villian influence ("civilizing" her) while resenting her for her origins and her failure to achieve their ideas of whiteness, othering her to the point she cannot see them as family or develop any healthy connections, then treating her as an infection of their ideal family that corrupts the perfect white american ideal glory girl stands for is an incredibly racially coded arc. Treating amy as a disease is racist and homophobic. you can't just decide there is no racial implications. the tragedy of the dallon sisters is a direct result of the new wave's distinctly white nuclear family and there was never going to be a way for them to survive within its constraints
Pre-relationship #2 and General #8 for Gilded Chrome!
tysm for the ask! 🥰 Questions are here!
What was their first impression of each other?
Victoria long had her first impression of Smasher before they met in any official capacity, spotting him throughout the Arasaka offices; she was absolutely envious of him, of how everyone, even herself, quietened as he entered a room. While others might've been (rightfully) terrified, she was absolutely in awe.
“Bold,” however, would sum up Smasher’s initial impression of Victoria. Usually people make active efforts in avoiding him if they can help it, so when the elevator stopped and Victoria just stepped on, looking at him as if he was a fly near her coffee, he was curious.
(Her boldness was in fact due to several factors: that she was dangerously close to being late to an op brief, and was running on maybe five hours sleep across three days. She was lucky that he was in a damn good mood at the time.)
Who gets jealous easier?
It’s a tossup, but I do reckon Smasher would get jealous easier than Victoria would – more for the fact that I see him being more possessive and doesn’t like people touching his shit. That includes his netrunner.

my roman empire is how the cats revival tour somehow lost a ton of the nuances and fluidity from the 2016 revival choreography. my best guess is they're just so small that they were lost in reteaching
