They are very protective over Yuri, and if they don’t like his girlfriend they get angry

However, they were very fond of you

At first they were skeptical of you and you make snarky tweets like “who does she think she is going after a worldly man like Yuri 🙄”

But after maybe a month of you guys dating they started to warm up to you

They would make edits of you guys together and post them tagging the both of you

Eventually they came up with that ship name that went viral

At every competition they would fangirl over you and Yuri together, and would ask you things about Yuri when you were caught alone

Yuri however, is not super fond of him fans clinging to you. Not because he wants them just as his fans but because he dosent want them annoying you.

You assure him that they aren’t annoying and that you actually quite like them.

One time when you and Yuri were out eating at a cafe in Moscow after a competition and a few fans saw you guys eating together.

They came inside and walked up to you two and asked for a photo

You quickly said yes and Yuri allowed it because you were fine with it.

After the picture they posted it on Instagram and it blew up with comments about how cute the two of you were together.

There is that one section of fans that hates you with every fiber of their being

But Yuri always manages to keep them in check

From my experience, it's both the projection stuff + cis writers responding to what's popular in fandom, but I also think some of it is because when trans fic started getting really popular, you had a lot of trans BNFs in various fandoms who insisted that writing these characters a particular way was THE right way to do it or you're offending them personally. I think that tends to be disproportionately likely with people who prefer pre-op or non-op vs. prefer post-op or don't care, both because if you care more you're angrier about it, but also people in the first category are more likely to be newly out (and thus in that obsession with their identity stage that plagues every LGBTQ+ person when we first come out) and younger and more online. So they're more likely to fit into the demographic of "people who obsess over what fic other people are writing" or "antis" in general.

I remember in Yuri on Ice fandom circa 2017-18, there was this one newly out pre-op trans guy who projected hard on to Yuuri and therefore insisted that any fic with cis Yuuri was hurting him personally. But it went beyond that.... Yuuri also had to be a bottom, because he was a bottom, and also this guy seemed to think that having a vagina meant you were automatically a bottom if your partner had a dick? Which made the whole thing kind of funny in a way... imagine declaring yourself the spokesperson for all trans men in your fandom (which he clearly did see himself as that, he clearly saw what he was saying as the One Right Way To Do Transmasc Rep) and yet being seemingly unaware that strap-ons are like, a thing that exists in the world, lol. That pegging exists. (Or at least, it would've been funny if he wasn't an obnoxious anti who harassed people, and had this parasocial fixation on someone who wrote a lot of bottom Yuuri and age-reversal Victuuri which he decided was the absolute worst thing for some reason.)

So just from that, I do have to wonder if some of these patterns in writing trans fic are just more popular vs. they're baked into fandom because some obnoxious individuals in a variety of fandoms (because he definitely wasn't the only person and YOI wasn't the only fandom where I saw that shit, though he was the worst) at a particular time were insisting that was the one right way to do things.

I was able to resist what he was saying even though I'm cis, just because I've had enough trans guy friends IRL to know that what he was describing as the One Right Way to Write Trans Sex is suuuuuper dysphoria inducing for a lot of trans men. Like, a lot of people who write M/M trans fanfic would be floored at how many pre-op trans men find that PIV is just completely off-the-table for them. They don't want to be penetrated at all, at least in the vagina. So much trans fic treats PIV as the gold standard. Like, it's weird to think gay trans men wouldn't be into butt stuff as much as cis gay men are? Am I the only person who thinks it's kinda weird how often that's assumed?

I have no idea what the state is like for trans women in F/F - even though I read a lot of F/F, there seems to be way less trans fic for whatever reason, even the stuff written by trans women IME seems to prefer to focus on cis women or at least women who both have vaginas - but while I've known fewer of them than trans men who just really don't want to use their vaginas during sex, a fair number of trans women just really don't want to use their penises during it either. Like, people, there's a reason that "bottom surgery" exists.

I do have some. Most aren't very solid though, they just come up alongside whatever story or emotion I want to explore.

I don't see Viktor competing for long. And not just because of his age. I think him going back into skating is half for Yuuri and half... to retire on his own terms? From a place of feeling fulfilled and satisfied, not from a place of burnout and feeling like he has nothing left to give. I think he doesn't need many more competitions to gives him that. He gets to compete against both Yuuri and Yurio. I enjoy thinking of Viktor winning gold in Russian Nationals, making Yurio eat his "Viktor Nikiforov is dead." And then Worlds being Yuuri getting gold, with Viktor and Yurio's places changing depending on my mood. I almost feel bad for all our other skaters, but it's just how I enjoy imagining that podium.

Yuuri definitely has to get gold, though. Constantly robbed. I think he'll keep skating for a while. I need him becoming as much of a legend as Viktor, but in a way that even he can't deny.

Also, Jewish headcanons. Obviously in canon Viktor eats pork, so it's not like my headcanons have him being particularly devout. In my mind, Viktor's disconnect from culture has to do with disconnect from family, and this is related to how I view his past and background. Parents that pushed him towards achievements, that he quietly distanced himself from once he could. Not necessarily even intentionally, but in canon I feel like he starts with so many walls up, keeping everyone at some distance and just playing a role for them. so the distance from his parents started forming because it was just a role he didn't feel like playing as often.

I imagine him and Yuuri going to live in Hasetsu once he retires, and there he has family. Yuuri's family, but he feels connected. And even though it's not a Jewish family or anything, I feel like having those connections can light a spark for him. So I do like the idea of him starting to celebrate a few more holidays. And a wedding that incorporates cultural elements from both directions.

One thing for example - in Judaism when you get married, the couple is seen as having a particular closeness to the divine, so you're often asked to bless your guests. This is something I like.

I feel like Viktor would use that to make some joke at Yurio. I don't have specifics, just the vibe.

I like the idea of Yurio going to live with them for weeks sometimes off season. Both the Katsuki family and the Nishigori family practically adopted him, and I see Viktor and Yurio's relationship as something sibling-like, so there's a lot of family for him to see. Beka might join him sometimes.

I personally don't see Viktuuri becoming parents. I don't have a reason for this, though, and I'm not all firm on that? Like, I did draw these:

So it's not like I hate the idea of them as parents, I just don't enjoy it as much.

If they do have a kid, though, they look a lot like Yuuri and Viktor is DELIGHTED about it.

30. one anime conclusion you would change

I'm torn between Tokyo Revengers and My Hero Academia. The first one was a bit disappointing because it was way too happy enging. As much as it sounds, someone could have stayed dead or on bad terms with other characters. And with My Hero Academia, I didn't feel satisfied at all with the career Midoryia chose. I've read too many Vigilante Deku fanfics to believe he didn't try to work as a hero.

Edit: Shit, these were mangas, not anime xD My mistake So Banana Fish. Because OH COME ONNNN. It could have ended differently, happier.

Part 2.

Searching for the right feeling and flow of the sound, I felt that the garrulous harmony (the flow of chords) in classic instrumental piano music is too melodramatic and doesn't fit here well. I decided to compose music that is as distant as it's possible from this kind of garrulous sound that tells you: "this scene is a very emotional scene", as soon as you hear the sound.

That's why this piece doesn't tell you what its image is like. There is a lot of "space between" sounds, I think. I thought that this piece needs this space, and because of this space, even if it has a theme, which is Yuuri's love, each person, who listens to this music can form their own image of it in their mind - my goal was to compose a piece that gives you this freedom of interpretation.

So, how do you write music with a lot of space, that lets each person have their own interpretation? My answer to this question was not to focus on one particular scene, but instead make it into "life flashing before you life" type of story.

[Notes: Even though I was actually on a translation program at uni, getting something like this to translate on the spot would make me cry 😂

This reminded me - there is that one YoI translation-related story about an event, I think it was in Mexico?, that Sayo and Mitsurou attended and somebody asked them what do they think when they see Yuuri and Victor. Sayo answered with one word - "Love". So their translator said "Love". Mitsurou, on the other hand, gave a very elaborate answer (probably she just started her usual mental gymnastics routine, because as much as I get that YoI fandom would like the "the creators confirmed victuuri is canon" to be true, the reality is that most of Mitsurou's answers in Jp would probably really annoy you) and the translator had to translate her answer as something like "friendship" 😂 Of course, I didn't attend the event, so I can only imagine what her answer was, but I bet it was really hard to follow and the poor translator just couldn't keep up with her stream of consciousness 😂

5. what's the first song that comes to mind when you think about him?

that's a good question! i have several songs that come to mind considering how his character and his relationship with Yuuri grow over the course of the anime, but during the first few eps, i totally feel like (if you're wondering if i want you to) i want you to by weezer fits Victor's time in Hasetsu! starting when he realized Yuuri wouldn't respond to his aggressive come-on tactics, and therefore spent the whole summer pining after him and dropping hints and still not getting what he'd initially come for x)

12. what's a headcanon you have for this character?

in a future AU where Victuuri has children, Victor is the strict dad!! to his human kids but not the pups obviously

don't get me wrong, he goofs around a lot and he adores playing and messing with his kids, he loves them soooo much and he shows them every single damn day, unlike his own parents (i hc them either as dead when he was young, or emotionally distant).

but imo, he's also very intent on not leaving them to their own devices to figure out shit on their own from an early age (like he had to do himself). these kids are going to be sat down and given multiple chances to explain themselves when they did something wrong, they're gonna get grounded (with a hug and a kiss, always, because proofs of love and affection are unconditional) when they deserve to, they're going to get a very extensive and absolutely mortifying Sex Talk with multiple hand picked recommendations for resources to find out more that Victor spent a whole ass month putting together, and they're not going to be (too) spoiled no matter how much it hurts Vitya's heart to stop himself from buying all the silly stuff he wants to (don't tell the kids, but he spoils Yuuri instead). i love picturing him being this unexpectedly responsible, and imagining Yurio continuously telling him that, of all the shit he pulled off in his life, this is by far the most surprising of the lot! *crying in Soft Victuuri Parents AU*

25. what was your first impression of this character? how about now?

well to be honest, i first thought he was basically a hot Himbo who was bored out of his mind and took the first excuse/flight he found to flee out of a life he couldn't stand anymore and get some adorable fan's dick on the other side of the world. which imo was equal parts Extra™️ + irresponsibly silly considering his career + incredibly brave... and then he needed like one week to fall in love and started pining like a fucking moron, which i found so, so damn endearing.

and THEN EPISODE TEN HAPPENED AND I- do i need to repeat the novel-length message i sent you about this the other day when we talked about this?? i don't think so. but i will say that this ep definitely made me fall even more in love with him, because it hints at so much unhappiness in his life before he met Yuuri??? and that only accentuates how brave he was to get himself out of that darkness and towards Yuuri's light (when he had no actual way of knowing how he'd be received, and was even severely rebuffed when he did get to Japan), i just.. i'm tearing up. he's a fucking legend, and i don't mean in the figure skating community only. i love him so much Nube!!!! *crying harder now*

Synopsis: Victor nikiforov throws a New Year’s party, and your friend Yuri plisetsky is having girl problems.

“Alright what do we think about..this one!” I say as I spin around, holding a dress by the hanger in front of my body.

“Hmmm..I don’t know..maybe try that silver one behind you” Mila advises.

Today was the day of victors party, and this being my first year in the senior division, it was my first time being invited.

“You know that the party really isn’t all that right? It’s just a bunch of drunk people playing cards against humanity and dancing” she adds as you turn around to put the dress back.

“I know but it’s my first time going and I don’t wanna look lame” I reply, the sound of clashing hangers echoing in my closet.

“Orrr is the real reason you wanna look good because Yuris gonna be there” Mila teased.

“Ughh are you kidding me he’s gonna be there too!” I say as I whip my head around to look back at her.

“Well yea it’s for all the seniors sooo” she adds.

I groan and turn around to reveal the dress.

“How does it look?” I ask.

“It looks perfect….for Yuri” she laughs.

“Cmon Mila you know how I feel about him! He’s arrogant and rude and I do not like him” I scold, my cheeks burning red in embarrassment.

“Yea I’m sure you feel veeeery stronglyyy about him” Mila adds as she continues laughing.

Around 20 minutes later Mila and I arrived at Victors house.

“Hey you guys made it!” He says, opening the door with a glass of champagne in his hand.

Me and Mila step Inside and she is immediately pulled aside by georgi, who is obviously drunk, complaining about his ex.

“Mila she posted on her instagram, she got a new boyfriend…hic…I’m going to go beat him up…” he slurs.

“Ok yea let’s not do that..” she says, grabbing a red plastic cup out of his hand.

“Um I’ll be right back I’m gonna go handle this..” Mila adds, looking back at me.

“Mila please don’t leave me I have no idea what I’m doing” I say awkwardly.

“You’ll be fine, I’ll be gone for like a few minutes” she replied.

“Let’s go Georgi” she adds, placing a hand in his shoulder.

She leads him into the kitchen and then completely out of my sight.

I decide to walk down the hallway and into victors living room.

The live countdown was on the TV and Victor, Chris, Yuuri, and Pitchit were all sitting on the couch playing cards against humanity.

Leo, Seung-Gil, and Guang-Hong were all standing in the corner loudly talking.

I leaned against the wall and huffed.

I was friends with none of the people here and the only person I knew was currently handling drunk Georgi.

I scan the room until I see Yuri standing against the opposing wall, talking to one of the girls in my division.

She was twirling her dark brown hair and she bitting her lip as she talked to him.

It infuriated me.

I waited until she left to go talk to him.

“Who’s that” I say, leaning on the wall next to Yuri.

He jumps at the sound of my voice.

“None of your business” he says, looking away from me.

“Jeez what’s your problem” I add.

He took a sip from whatever was in his plastic cup.

“Are you drinking??” I say in shock.

“No it’s water dipshit” he says as rudely as ever.

I scoff and roll my eyes.

“So again why were you talking to that girl” I persist.

“Since when do you care who I talk to?” He adds.

“Since now” I reply.

He lets out a loud sigh.

“She’s some girl from the US, she just came up to me and started talking” he says, taking another swig of water.

“She seems pretty into you” I reply with a twinge of jealousy.

“Well I’m not really that into her, she’s weird I don’t know why she keeps coming up to me” he adds.

“Oh shit I think she’s coming back” he says in a panic.

“Uhh we can go in the basement?i think I saw the door next to the stairs” I quickly suggest.

“Yea whatever just get me away from her”

I take a firm grasp on his hand and lead him down the hall to a white door.

I open it up and flick on the light.

Me and Yuri walked over to a corner and sat down on the carpet.

“I swear if I get caught in another conversation with her I think I might jump off the roof” he says dramatically.

I roll my eyes and laugh at his childish antics.

I never really got to have a good look at what Yuri was wearing. His hair was down and he was wearing a black button down and black dress pants.

As I examined his body I felt my face start heating up.

“Are you ok?” He asks.

“Oh yea I’m fine it’s just uh hot in here” I reply, embarrassed.

“So why did you decide to come?” I ask.

“I was bored, and Mila kept pestering me until I said yes” he said with an annoyed tone.

“She did the same to me, she asked me literally every day until I said yes” I laugh.

He lets out a slight laugh.

I open my phone to check the time and it’s roughly 11:50.

“Shit we gotta go back up” I say.

“No please I don’t wanna talk to that weirdo anymore” he whines.

“Just uh..say I’m your girlfriend” I blurt out.

His face flushes red.

“A-are you sure?” He stutters out.

“I mean it’ll for sure keep her away” I say awkwardly, realizing what I had just said.

“I guess it’s worth a shot”

I grabbed his hand again and we climbed back up the stairs to the main area.

Everyone was dancing, and the girl Yuri was talking to was leaning against the wall talking to Sara.

Me and Yuri walked to the center of the living room and started dancing.

I held both of his hands as I swayed along to the music.

“Hey Yuri~ who’s this?” The brunette girl said as she snuck up behind me.

I watched yuris face go white.

“It’s my girlfriend” he says as he removes his hands from mine.

She looks me up and down and gives me a nasty look.

“Hi, I’m Jessica” she says, forcing a fake smile on her face.

“Uh im Y/N” i add awkwardly.

“You know you’d be really pretty if you like..didn’t put on so much makeup. Guys don’t really like try hards..” she says with a snarky tone of voice.

“Well I don’t think my boyfriend has an issue with the amount of makeup I wear” I spat back at her.

“Hmph what a pity, I’m sure he’d like a more natural girl..like me” she says with a sarcastic smile.

“Well I guess I’ll leave you two to it..but I’ll be back” she adds as she winks and walks off.

Yuri shivers in discomfort.

“What a megabitch” i say angrily.

“Tell me about it” he replies with a scoff.

After the song ended, I watched the TV to see who was performing next.

A singer I didn’t know got up on stage and started singing “take my breath away”

All the couples started slow dancing with the song while I started awkwardly at Yuri.

We were both completely still, faces bright red.

Out of the corner of my eye I see the brunette girl making her way towards Yuri again.

I quickly wrap my arms around his neck and in response he gently wraps his hands around my waist.

I lean my head on his chest and whisper “she was walking over, go with it”.

We sway slowly to the music, starting to melt into each others touch.

In the middle of the song I look up at him, our faces almost touching.

He was so close I could feel the heat radiating off his face. His eyes were glistening as beautifuly as ever, and he smelled like expensive cologne.

His eyes were peering into mine, almost like he was about to kiss me.

“q-quit looking at me like that..” he stutters, quickly returning to reality.

His face was redder than ever as he turned to avoid my gaze.

“Shit sorry…I started zoneing out” I say as I return my head to its place on his chest.

As soon and my head hit the fabric, I felt him pull me closer and rest his head on mine.

My breath hitched at the sudden gesture.

Thank god he couldn’t see my face, it was as red as a tomato.

As the song slowly ended, I felt him lift off of me.

I felt an ache in my heart, like I didn’t want the moment to stop.

I removed my arms from around his neck as the TV reverted to the ball about to drop.

The countdown started.

I feel time stop around me, all the screams and cheers were completely muffled as I melted into his touch.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and returned the kiss.

It was sweet and gentle, and I wish the moment could last forever.

I pulled away as he looked me in the eyes.

“I love you..I always have” he says out of breath, a lovesick look in his eyes.

“I love you too yurio” I add as I jump back into his arms.

“Happy new years” he replies as he places a quick kiss on the top of my head.

Of course, it could be someone else's project, but it's fun to imagine DD knitting. I hope he is learning.

I once tried to take up knitting, and made my sister a HUGE long scarf in beautiful natural fiber that took me weeks and weeks to complete. The hobby never took hold beyond that. Maybe I took on too big of a project to start with and burned out my interest. 😅

I think she might still have that scarf. It was so long ago...
