was trying to remember which games i completed this past year and wow....can't believe i played through 4 (four) tales games in 2022! yeah........i'm definitely taking a break from tales games before picking up xillia 2 lol. this year i hope to not only complete xillia 2 but also give a long-awaited second playthrough to berseria and maybe finally complete phantasia. then with the symphonia remaster coming out soon that's at least 4 more tales games that i'll be playing through this year as well :)
other than that, looking forward to picking up sonic frontiers, the forbidden west dlc, and of course the new zelda. oh and i guess in december play through the xc3 dlc which hopefully will be decent enough....
will be another busy year of gaming that's for sure :)

So I plan on finishing an illustration today and hopefully get it uploaded. I have a tentative first day at a new job tomorrow and now I'm stressing over that.
but also I spent the entire day out of town yesterday. We took our first ever outdoor rock climbing trip yesterday and I think all of us are feeling it today.
I felt kind of bad because I didn't have a chance before January to talk about some stuff I accomplished last year of all my hobbies and what I wanted to accomplish this year. So I figured I'd do a looksy backsy and ramble for a bit. Hopefully with cute divider icons if tumblr formats correctly.
Tumblr media
so anyway, art related stuff. This time last year I was really wanting to try and build my own stationery set to sell at a local craft fair. Have to admit moving makes this seem too far out of reach. I do kinda feel like abandoning tiktok for youtube. Even though tiktok has the majority of my everything right now. Im at the moment enjoying the bloggy style rambling of youtube. I already have quite a few projects that I want to do but I feel like its been so long since I've uploaded an illustration that I need to do that first. I also have quite a few art supplies that I want to buy..maybe with like my first paycheck.
Tumblr media
Games, last year I somehow managed to utilize my switch a lot. That thing went up on a shelf for a long time after animal crossing a few years ago and this past year I pulled it out quite a bit. I really need a goodreads but for video games so I can track what I've played because my memory is getting so bad. I played quite a few cozy games like ooblets and disney dreamlike valley but I also did some jrpgs like Atelier Sophie and Xenoblade Chronicles. I did just download harvestella as a break from xenoblade but I did enjoy the style of that game and would kind of like to play its sequels. I also at some point had meant to play Octopath traveller because I'd never played it and the sequel is out/coming out soon and the sequel looks better than the original imo.
The bulk of my playing though was Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel. I played Assassins Creed Valhalla before that too so that was A LOT of open world explorey explorey, one right after another. I played HZD and immediately started Forbidden West immediately. I was really brain dead at the end. I get into insane map clearing mode and I cannot do anything until the map is clear. I really liked the idea of the story and I liked the open world nature. I originally wasn't interested in the game because of the machinery involved. Im more of a mystical dragons and castles person but I actually did really like the idea. I had some issues with the execution of the story. It taking itself so seriously yet being so cartoony at the same time. Ill play the triquel but I wasn't thrilled with HFW really.
Tumblr media
Books. Previous year I did a personal challenge of trying to read 100 books and I think I got to 98. So I was a bit burnt out this past year. I did read more than I thought. Think I thought I read maybe 15 but I counted and read about 33 not including the Harry Potter Philosophers stone reread that I read in spanish. I do plan hopefully to read book 2 in spanish this year. I'm studying spanish and HP is such a familiar story I think it makes the language less daunting.
My favorite books were definitely Legends and Lattes and Home Before Dark by Riley Sager.
This year I have no real plans to read any sort of amount and I dont want to feel pressured to do so. I'm finishing some books that I didn't complete before 2022 ended. I finished 5 Days at Memorial right before the clock hit midnight practically on 2023 and it made me so angry at the medical field. I added 2 more medical books to my tbr. Ill finish 2 more books that are halfway done probably in the near future and then I don't know what else to read.
Ill admit trying to film art for youtube really interupts ones audiobook experience. I may just ditch books for ambient music.

Hear me out — Reader saves Hannibal from some sort of “his ass was this -> <- far away from being caught by fbi & friends in the dumbest way possible” scenario. They don’t want his gratitude, money or gifts but instead worm their way into his office, home & kitchen — which we all know is his life. Disrespecting his desk by using it as a chair while he works, shuffling papers around, molesting his multitude of couches & books, re-arranging his coffee station, moving all the huge / weird and not nice to use cutlery to the bottoms of the holders. This plus other things that he doesn’t know if it’s slowly driving him insane or if he’s being brainwashed when he starts preferring their ways of organized chaos.
But then they also do less annoying things, like always walking around with only socks inside. Taking over a small section of his fridge / freezer. Tugging on his apron, jacket, sleeve - anything they can reach to get his attention. Pointing out the neighborhood cats that often sunbathe in his garden; with little recaps of some of their antics. Using non-metal cooking utensils in his pots and pans. Filling the bottom drawer of his desks with mini snack packs and tiny chocolates. Giving his patients or colleagues odd nicknames - usually to do with their actions or an item of clothing they were wearing when they accidentally met Reader. Playing videogames or reading on the top floor while he has patients & then making a short comment or 2 occasionally when they leave. Getting a very plush and huggable animal pillow and leaving it on his bed — the first few weeks it will get moved to the top of the dresser when he goes to bed, shooting it with untrusting side eyes. And then later it gets moved to the empty side. And every so often when he cooks Reader will sneak up on him & just hug him from behind, moving wherever with him and eventually letting go when they have energy for the world again or when their meal is ready.
Sorry this got so specific! You’re free to ignore any of it lol! I was thinking fem or GN reader. Reader also probably knows about his dietary quirks and isn’t that bothered - their own quirk is that they view vegetables as a luxury and will clear anything and everything he makes of the sort; while also making sure to leave some for their lunch the next day.
A/N; Hi! Sorry it took me a while to post, I was busy with work. Sorry for any typos, enjoy!
Warnings; None.
Tumblr media
When Hannibal Lecter looked at you from afar, his mind went back to the time where you changed his entire life. 3 years ago he was in Italy, teaching and enjoying his time. Well, maybe he was enjoying his time too much, because in his entire life this was the first time he almost got caught, one of the professors at the university he was teaching got too cocky and last thing he remembered was he was holding a blood dripping knife in his dominant hand, there was a knock on the door, -the professors wife- and you climbed through the window to save him. You were his assistant at the time, carrying his bag and papers, grading papers for him, you were following him almost everywhere. That night, you had a hunch, and you followed that hunch which led you to this scenario. The rest is history…
After 3 years so many things have changed, you started to live with him, he didn’t know if he wanted to kill you or not because you saw him killing, and you proved yourself to be useful so decided to keep you. Your rooms were separate, not even on the same floor, but whenever Hannibal was stressed you were always by his side, it was like a marriage but without the any complicated paper work. He liked to take you to his office sometimes, or dinners etc. Whenever someone would ask about you Hannibal’s first instinct was to protect you and tell people that you were his partner. You were protected.
At the moment he was watching you, you were watching a movie from your laptop (which Hannibal bought) covered in comfy blankets, sitting on your bed, you looked so calm and focused. He wondered what would’ve happened if he killed you that day..
‘’Is there a room for me?’’ he said, he was startled by his own question, sitting with a young person and watching a movie together wasn’t like him but over the years he found himself doing things he could not imagine before.
You looked up to meet his maroon gaze, your bedroom door was open and he was leaning on the door frame, his hair was a mess and rolled up sleeves showed his tense arms, you didn’t say anything just moved from the center of your bed. He approached with lazy steps, sat next to you, ‘’How was work?’’ you asked, ‘’Psycho was a handful as usual.’’
Hannibal had a patient and he was something else and you named him Mr. Psycho
‘’He asked about you.’’ Hannibal said as he got comfortable, ‘’What did you say?’’ that patient was asking about you a lot lately, maybe he was interested in you but whatever that was it made Hannibal irritated. You could tell by a glance, ‘’I said they are busy.’’ Even his tone was irritated. You could feel a smile forming in the corners of your mouth. No matter what you knew that Hannibal would do anything and everything to protect you.

Sometimes I really want to read a short summary of what to expect from a game with a very particular description that CATER to my OWN SPECIFIC interests, so here we go.
what to expect from VAMPIRE THERAPIST
Visual novel and completely voiced, relatively short game
Doesn't really have a plot
The gameplay is only choosing dialogue options and labelling statements (cognitive distorsions) like a therapist
There are a few minigames (clicking on thoughts, choosing a vein to drink from in some people)
The developers consulted real therapists to create the game
You play as Sam, an American vampire who wants to become a therapist for vampires and moves to Germany to learn from Andromachos
Most characters are bisexual/pansexual (the protagonist also talks about his previous male lover)
Sam will be able to choose what kind of thinking patterns his clients are doing
Before every session (a part from the first) you will have to select the main cognitive distorsions the clients use and those are the ones you will be able to work on
Andromachos will help you if you choose the wrong option
After each therapy you will have some extra short scenes in the bar to recap the day and learn more about Crimson (Andromachos' partner) and Andromachos
There are four clients in total, all with different problems and you will see them multiple times with more cognitive distortions being added
The sequence is: Client 1, night, Clien 2, night, Client 3, night, Client 4, night, a session about Sam with new cognitive distorsions to learn
These cycles are repeated multiple times while you work through Sam's past and your clients
I have not played multiple times but I am pretty sure you can change the outcome of the clients' therapist journey by choosing different cognitive distorsions before each session
The game ends with Andromachos helping Sam through some problems of his own
plot? There's not really a plot gameplay? visual novel characters? There are 6 main characters in the game and their stories are the main focus of the game (characters over plot). In particular the 4 clients. sadness level? medium low

Joifee's life series pixel gifs
Over the last two seasons of Life Smp, namely Limited Life smp and Secret Life smp, I created some pixel-art to celebrate it.
Why did I do it? I just had bought Asperite and wanted to learn it and what wouldn't have been better than a new series I adore? I also just had started drawing fanart so that was exciting!
Here is a collection of those gifs (+ some gifs I drew of other season out of season) This is obviously a WIP
Limited Life Limited Life Episode 1 recap Wheres Tilly Martyn? Look Grian! Martyn vs Joel Limited Life Episode 3 recap I am in danger scott RIP Bad Boys Bread Bridge Explosive Bday Party This is a death game
Secret Life (what if secret life was a videogame?) session 1: interface session 2: dialog box session 3: minigame session 4: mission interface session 5: decision interface session 6: Cut scene session 7: virus / bug session 8: minigame 2.0 session 9: boss fight - winning

personally i've been totally obsessed with man on the internet's morpho knight! the femme-leaning voice is so cool (and scratches the silly fangirl corner of my brain)! and the lyrics go so hard >_< usually i'm not one for videogames songs with lyrics but some of this vocalizing gives me literal chills
Oh yes! Sooo true! That one is extremely good as well!!
Fanon or no (though I like femme Morpho >w<) I completely love the choice to go with a female vocalist for Morpho, and Emily Go went SO HARD on that song! A total brain-scratch! (Plus we in this corner love a good mythology bonus, fufufu~)
The only reason I didn't list it with the others is simply because...I have a complicated relationship with Morpho Knight as a character?
Not a bad one! I just feel like as a fandom, folks have moved kinda fast with them?? I get it though! They're super cool and their appearance in Star Allies and then AGAIN in Forgotten Land were "throw your controller and scream" moments! It's not like we have significantly less info about them than we do any other Kirby character people have built up a lot of lore and HC around!
I just feel so many have rebuilt their entire Kirby cosmologies and mythologies around Morpho Knight, when we really do know SO little about them? XD (With the corollary that I feel strongly we WILL find out more. Kumazaki even teased more in that interview about RtDL, so I guess because he’s “in the middle of cooking something, I’m waiting to let him “cook”) As for Morpho being in everything, this last part is meant entirely playfully, but...take the Kirby OC Tournament cast. How many OCs include Morpho Knight somewhere in their backstory?/lh
Considering we're liable to see them again (assuming Chaos Elfilis didn't do any permanent damage) I personally prefer to hold off on making any definite statements or strong HCs of my own about Morpho Knight. And while the song's lyrics did the same, leaning toward the vague and verifiable, I still have a slight preference for the songs that told a complete narrative or are for characters who are otherwise "complete" in the game they debuted in.
....That said, what they pulled off was total FIRE though!! (Fufu... Get it? Cause Morpho's...?)
Anyway, this month has been such a feast of songs I found myself imagining what a version of "Prayer Song to God" or "Hyness Unhooded" or "The Star-Conquering Traveler" would sound like!
(Not that anyone from either song team is reading MY silly little blog, but I would love to see a version of The Star-Conquering Traveler that gives a short lyrical "part" to all the Dream Friends, similar to how that one official (?) recap video they made shows Kirby fighting together with the different Waves for the different phases!)
Dess just try writing your own lyrics if you feel this strongly about this stuff

hey, sorry if you’ve answered this before, but I am really struggling to find horror analysis yt channels that aren’t just “this is what happens in the movie and btw it’s about [generic one-word theme that is never elaborated on]”. Do you have any that you particularly like?
oh hmm well i like scaredy cats. they talk about a lot of movies i havent seen and probably wouldnt seek out on my own which i consider a plus. altho right now theyre doing a series of episode recaps for a canadian vampire police procedural so maybe not the best time to jump in if youre hoping for like newer stuff. good time to get familiar with their older videos tho i guess! or a good time to watch them talk about canadian vampire cops if youre into that!
i also am a rly big fan of nyx fears for particular more extreme horror stuff but i believe shes focusing on her music and writing rn. so again good time to catch up on her older stuff!
other than that jacob geller is excellent and has a lot of horror videogame analyses but i feel like everyone knows that. ragnarrox is also great for especially older and more overlooked horror games. night mind specifically talks about arg and horror unfiction projects but if thats something ur interested in at all you cant get much better than his videos imo.
and recently ive started watching acolytes of horror! i havent seen a lot of his stuff yet but i thought his video about so-called political horror that fears taking any actual political stance was really good and well articulated and helped me pinpoint why a lot of movies of that sort of subgenre really miss the mark for me.
hope this is helpful! followers feel free to add on if youve got any relevant recs you wanna share!

woo!! 2023 videogame recap! i was surprised at how many games i actually played through this year in comparison to last year (although last year i played through a LOT of long games). i managed to play through a bunch of old games that i had been meaning to for the longest time (like the old tomb raider trilogy!), but i think the pleasant surprises were crystal bearers and tales of xillia 2 due to the story and characters. i didn't finish the berseria replay this year like i planned to, but still, 3 tales games in one year is pretty good!
next year will still have at least 3 other tales games in the list--finish the berseria replay (which i'm enjoying SO MUCH right now), play tales of graces for the first time, and replay abyss which i haven't played since like at least 2013. i'm also looking forward to granblue fantasy re:link which comes out in early february, and with the new tomb raider nextflix series coming out, i think i would also like to get through the reboot trilogy again (give shadow another shot D: ).
other than that, we'll see what other games i feel like playing as the year goes on! :)

Relapse, back to normal
Tumblr media
Alright, so, this is going to be the last post of a personal nature. Recap: I am an adult with BiPolar. I am considered high-functioning enough that I have gone for long stretches without treatment (eg. no medication... but I still see a psychiatrist regularly). A number of weeks ago, I accepted a job, doing something completely outside of my wheelhouse. After two weeks of training, it became clear to me, that I did not have the mental nor emotional fortitude to handle this new role, and also maintain my mental health... at least not without treatment. So I spoke with my Psych about medication, and got started on it. Within 24 hours of starting the medication I had a Manic Episode, the likes of which I had never experienced. On top of the Manic episode, I also began experiencing aggressive heart palpitations (it was not an anxiety/panic attack, I have had enough panic/anxiety attacks in my life to know the differences... and when I eventually landed in the hospital, the EKG/ECG proved the heart anomalies were very real). Amidst the Physical and Mental breakdown, I had to resign from the job. Between the stress of the job, and the bad reaction to the meds... I had not slept for 7 days, and physically I could not even drive myself to the Doctor. It was during the stress and mental uncertainty of this scenario that I made a decision to de-porn my life. (I also made a decision to reconnect with my estranged father, a decision which, while impulsive, turned out very well, and I am very happy that I reached out to him). In hindsight. I view a lot of the decisions that I made, to be impulsive, and not from a place of mental clarity. I was essentially operating under a medication induced mental duress. Once I was taken off the medication, everything began to improve and go back to normal. I can sleep 6-8 hours a night again, the heart palpitations have stopped, I can drive, I can think straight, and my sex-drive has returned. I realize that the judgments I was casting upon myself were, not only coming from the fog of bad medication + lack of sleep, but they were judgments that were not my own, judgments projected onto me from past partners, and from an unaccepting society. Pornstars are people. Sex work is real work. Erotic art, is real art too. Some people end their day by cuddling and having sex with a partner. Some people read a book. Some people play videogames until they fall asleep at their desk. Some people drink a 6-pack of beer every night, or an entire bottle of wine. Some people binge watch TV until they fall asleep. I used to invite my girlfriend over for (mutual); cuddles, backrubs, scalp massages, sex, and TV watching... and that was enough to put me to sleep. Then I got dumped... Now I wind-down by watching paid porn actors, act-out some of the intimate things I used to do with my partner while I vape weed and reminisce about how nice it was to be in a relationship. No matter how shitty a day I've had. It's the one thing I can do at the end of the day, that consistently relaxes me and puts me in a position to get a good night's sleep. Is it ideal? Of course not. Ideal, for me, would be falling asleep next to a partner. But I don't have a partner. And until I do. Who am I, or anyone else, to pass judgement upon the coping mechanism that I am employing to get me through the night? I am thankful that my sex-drive came back. I am thankful that my coping mechanism hurts no one. I am hopeful that someday I will find a partner that accepts me for who I am, perceived flaws & all. Loves me when I'm at my best, and when I'm at my worst. Until I do, I will cope.

April 2024 Wrapup
The way this month has ended has coloured most of everything else happening within the month, none of which is stuff I consider meaningful content for the blog in general. Suffice to say this is a month in which I was trying to save money and do my best and by the end of the month I am extremely frazzled and uncertain as to how I’m doing what I’m doing. But you didn’t come here for that, you came here for posts! Posts about Spiderman!
Alright let’s dive on into this. What are the Game Pile articles this month?
Examining Gender and Capitalism in Braid. This video got me a comment I liked a lot where a commenter noted that being good at making puzzles doesn’t make you any good at criticising humans’ reactions to puzzles.
Sheriff of Nottingham, a dramatic tension and bluffing game, where players have to construct a language, then lie in it, all with a dash of political manipulation in the form of bribes. A great game in the ‘Anxiety Engine’ model that I like but never am likely to own.
Planetfall and Bioshock Infinite, a long form essay video where I both recapped the basic experience of Bioshock Infinite and brought into contrast the idea that videogames’ ability to affect their audience is directly in contrast to different aesthetic forms.
Gazillionaire, a truly awful looking game that, hilariously, just after I wrote this article I finally played to a victory. Know what happens when you beat the game? The game keeps going and just moves the goal post further.
And then the Story Pile articles?
Hazbin Hotel, a series you should steal about a particularly pre-modern Christian vision of Hell expressed through gnostic mysterio and also the story of a bunch of shockingly hot endearing monster weirdoes.
You Were Never Really Here, which is part of an ongoing series of Positronic Collection movies. This was chosen specifically to mesh with the theme of me, as a person, and it’s kinda eerie how good a job it does at that.
16 Bit Sensation: Another Layer, which is an anime that you might think of as ‘fun’ and ‘good’ and which made me so mad I specifically set aside the time to kick it in the teeth into my April articles.
Oshi no Ko, a series I like just enough to complain about it a bunch. I mean I really like it, and really like complaining about it.
Lords and Ladies, one of the many books I consider one of the best Discworld books. This one’s about elves!
But there’s more! I wrote about a brilliant idiot, in the form of the transformer Wheeljack, and I wrote about my demon boy OC big brother figure, Bael. I wrote about a Magic: The Gathering deck I like and technology in the game I dislike that we’re getting even though I dislike it. I also spent some time reflecting on my current WIP game designs, which I found a lot of fun and want to do more of.
I talk to you a little bit. I talked to you in terms of what I think of you as an audience, I talk to you about creating tension in your writing, and I talked about the way I treat you, and how your time is a gift. I reflected on what it means to be a part of my audience, and whether or not there are things about you I can control. I also encouraged you to make things and show them to me, as a present to me.
There was some world-building talk; I talked about the way planes can be seen and treated as distinct parts of the world, with Planar Lenses, and I also explained a setting element in Cobrin’Seil, a favourite place where the wizards and sorcerers train together but also learn how to swing a hammer. That place, The Laewaes Dramaturgist, also served to talk about the ways that people in universe, in general, discuss the idea of types of spellcasters. While I was on the D&D thread and organisational systems, I dug into the 3rd edition magic item system. While talking about my personal fascinations in D&D, then, I also talked about the druid, and Why Is Druid?
This turning of the years in April, again, does make me think about things I was told about how my life would go. One of the most miserable considerations there was the way I was told that my sex life was going to go, and what that meant and what I should be expecting, all told while we should definitely, definitely not have opinions or expectations for sex. This was told through a metaphor of a jellybean jar.
I noticed that the logo for Hazbin Hotel, the key, looks a bit like the Sonic the Hedgehog winged ring logo and that’s what gave rise to this. Behold! A drawing of two characters with one looking happily at her idiot. You can get it as a sticker, or coasters, or a t-shirt. For example.
I don’t like how much work I got done this month. Obviously, I fear that if I go back and look at all the other posts I made this past year that may be the case. But in the PhD, last month featured a dedicated chunk of work on my literature review, and this month should be the completion of the draft of the methodology. We’re now at the point of getting things onto the page, and as I write this – on the 27th – my birthday has proven to be an impediment for that. Like, turns out that people want to see you on your birthday.
At the late point in the month I devised a new idea for something cool and complicated (and more about that on the Patreon). I have a want to do something cool with a few different systems – a new game mechanical idea, and a push for a kind of video that’s a little easier to make than most.
May has five Fridays in it, and they’re set up so there are going to be three main videos in it, so look forward to that!
Check it out on PRESS.exe to see it with images and links!

The Last Faith
Tumblr media
The Last Faith will nämlich tatsächlich gar nicht soviel im Genre neu erfinden, sondern bleibt der eigentlichen Formel treu. Was Metroid Prime für die Metroid Reihe gemacht hat, nämlich ein 2D Genre perfekt in die 3 Dimension bringen, ist demnach also The Last Faith für das Soulslike gelungen, nur umgekehrt...obwohl ich viel frühere Vertreter, wie Salt & Sanctuary gar nicht gespielt hab, also auch nicht wirklich beurteilen kann, ob die das nicht schon deutlich früher noch besser gemacht haben.
Ich hatte jedenfalls mit The Last Faith sehr viel Spaß und den Hunger auf ein wenig Souls damit erstmal gestillt.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Tumblr media
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
Tumblr media
Die Rede ist von Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden vom Life is Strange Macher Don't Nod.
Final Fantasy Vll: Rebirth
Tumblr media

I saw someone else post an image of Doug from the "What if... the X-Men had stayed in Asgard?" story and though I'd post a couple too.
The story becomes a what if because in the mainstream universe, when offered a chance to stay in Asgard, where at east half of them would be happy in a non mutant-hating realm, they all agree to instead return to Earth to fight the good fight.
However, in this alternate timeline one decides to stay, and so Loki offers to return anyone who wishes to leave and let the remainder stay if they choose. So we get a number of different viewpoints and ideas.
Tumblr media
Now this doesn't quite work for me, Doug CAN read everything, but that doesn't mean he want's to read anything, and I'm pretty sure that 1980's Asgard has no computer acces or videogames. Also, his parents are still back home and I don't think he'd abandon them.
Also Warlock's not quite right either as he COULD transmode Asgardian plantlife etc (and has) for food, but I could see where he might not want an Asgardian Phalanx to develop, so we'll give him a pass.
So leaving those little quibbles to one side, what happens to our favourite little omniglot when left on Asgard, where the avergae resident can lift 15 tons without straining?
Tumblr media
Okay, this is cute. The Asgardians, as is seemingly typical for superstrong aliens, take one look at Doug and go "Awwww! Isn't he CUTE! and he can read all our old scrolls! That's ADORABLE!"
Later when a war breaks out between most of the major Asgardian deities, the New Mutants and X-Men, who have all taken on new roles, are heavily involved, culminating in Dani Moonstar leading the Valkyries in deposing and destroying Hela... and show show should up but Magik, now the new Enchantress, and Doug, who knows what the result of Dani's action is (I won't say what it was, because that would spoil things)
Tumblr media
The end result being that Storm becomes the new ruler and All-Mother of Asgard, and who is her right hand guy?
Tumblr media
That's quite the promotion there, Dougie-boy!
Check out "What If...?" #12 for the full story, which is great fun!
