I wanna talk about just how alone in the universe an object could possibly be

There are these areas of the universe rightly known as voids

These are defined as spaces between large scale structures in the universe that contain little to no galaxies. Now, though these voids typically have some matter in them, to an outside observer, they look completely or nearly empty.

Voids are typically 30 to 300 million lightyears in diameter, however the ones that aren't are the most interesting and are sometimes called supervoids.

Here's a map of some galactic voids. Every dot on that map isn't a star by the way, it's a fucking galaxy. That's how unfathomably massive these supervoids are

Empty voids so large, our entire planet, our entire solar system, is like a speck of dust in comparison

One of the biggest of these, the Boötes Void, is about 330 million lightyears across, or what is approximately 0.27% of the observable universe. It's colloquially known as the Great Nothing and contains only about 60 galaxies in a space that normally would have over 2,000

According to astronomer Greg Aldering "If the milky way had been in the center of the Boötes void, we wouldn't have known about other galaxies until the 1960s"

Empty space

To put it in a bit more perspective, a lightyear is 9.46 trillion kilometers or 5.88 trillion miles. This void is 330 million lightyears in diameter. I can't even imagine just how large this empty spot in space is, and that's fucking awesome

So yeah space is big and empty but there's bigger and emptier things in that emptiness

Even in the most soothing of lights, I can't sit still.

Voids have a nagging, clawing and cavernous way,

of begging to be filled.

I'm gonna keep an eye on Coraline. So she has had hairballs in the past, even though Ember hasn't, but she had a hairball on the 13th which I wasn't super worried about as her last one was quite a while ago. But she's just had another again today on the 18th, and while there is some conflicting info, generally it seems fine if they have them once a month/every few months, but once a week can be a sign of an issue. So that has concerned me as it was 5 days since her last one, the thing is she's still eating, going toilet, not showing signs of bloating or pain, super energetic as normal, she's not gagged or wretched outside of the hairballs, so nothing else seems wrong. Her Summer coat is coming in, so I'm hoping it's just due to the increased fur loss as to why she has coughed up another so soon? But if she has 1-2 more in a short period then I will take her to the vet

It wasn't the first time lil Robin stayed away from home for the night, possibly some days, due to vigilante stuff happening that she was excited for. Voids learned to trust her daughter with it and be fine with it.

Neither was it the first time Dante let Voids know that he's going to be out and about with friends for some magic trip or whatever. That Voids could also deal with.

What she couldn't deal with was the empty house when both of her kids weren't there at the same time, making that poor woman extremely uncomfortable and lonely.

Don't get her wrong, she loves how she did manage to raise her two kids to be as independent as they are, she really does. But she'd also like it if they stayed with her just a little bit more. Or at least plan a bit so at least one of them would be with her at times so she wouldn't miss both of them so much.

God damnit.

Void No. 7 (The Soil) Void 7 will be available in my site shop this Sunday March 26th at 12 pm EDT.  Void No. 7 has a lepidolite crystal heart. It's face is hollow and lined with black velvet to achieve the blackest black effect. The mushrooms are handsculpted out of a glow in the dark plastic. They are flexible and durable and will return to their positions when they are bent and bounced. The ears, face, and legs were cast in resin so they are also very durable. Although the mane looks like one piece of fur, the unique texture was achieved by sewing different types of white fur in individual layers on a fabric backing. The neck and forelegs have a fully posable plastic ball and socket armature inside that will not wear out over time. The tail has a posable wire inside and the back legs can bend only slightly at the hocks. The spine and thighs do not bend. The ears are attached with a ball and socket joint so they can pivot in every direction. See how it’s made in my Patreon!
