it's election day I can be a little political as a treat. if you still purchase or publicly consume or create harry potter media or content, donate to a UK based trans person and sit with your morals for a bit. Both major political parties ran a campaign stoking a culture war against trans people because of Rowlings ideology and funding. Every time you line her pockets - and that includes by consuming and creating fan content publicly, thus proliferating the enjoyment of hp (because even if you don't spend money on it, you are making it acceptable for people who do spend) - you contribute directly, personally, to British trans kids dying early. I don't care if it's important to you - I wore a ravenclaw scarf to school well into my teens, and then I found out Rowling was a terf (and all the antisemitic shit in the books) and every piece of harry potter merchandise got stuffed in a box at the back of my wardrobe. It turns out, when the author of your favourite book is best buddies with the MP of your constituency and they talk about trans people like you're dirt on the bottom of their shoes, it sours the experience a little.

Read a better book. Do better by british trans folks

Being asexual and possibly aromantic but also being a huge shipper and hopeless romantic is such a wild experience ngl. I'm always freaking out about my favorite ships and giggling internally reading ship fics, getting invested in characters finally kissing or reading about their pining and their love and I think "I want what they have!!"

But then sometimes you have a slamming realization that your sweet shipping scenarios you imagine in your head look totally different irl and that you are extremely aspec.

One time I went down a YouTube rabbit hole and stumbled across Vsauce's "Why Do We Kiss?" video and let me tell you. When I saw that stock video footage of two people kissing each other I was a little flabbergasted lmaooo

I've been afraid to talk about this for fear of backlash, but fuck it. Do other romance-repulsed aros recoil at even queer kisses?

Like I'm romance-repulsed and loveless, and most, if not all, romance makes me cringe or groan or gag depending on the scenario. Straight romance, queer romance, anything. Kisses gross me out, no matter what the couple looks like.

I can acknowledge queer people being allowed to kiss is good and progress, it's just... not my thing. I'm probably going to lose followers over this.

And it feels like a homophobic thought, but in reality, I'm romance-repulsed. I love queer people! Queer people are great! Queer people should be allowed to kiss!

But I'm romance-repulsed. I'll never view queer romance the way alloros do. And the internalized arophobia tells me that's wrong.
