no ok because forevers solo mission into the nether and all the vague ‘if I don’t return’ and ‘I’m sorry’ messages he’s left behind is made all the more heart wrenching because he wasn’t meant to be the martyr.
bad has been setting himself up for tragedy. it’s in the self destructive choices he makes, his hyper paranoia, his self isolation, the way he’s literally turning blue and can’t seem to notice it himself. and from a meta perspective, it’s obvious - he talks about lasting consequences, he makes very clear framing and music decisions, the story arc has been setting up for something big. he’s got a book that says it’s for forever’s eyes only and hinted at him needing his help. he’s said to tina that he’s 100% sure of one person ending up dead at the end of all this. he’s made it clear he’d do anything he thinks would get the kids back - self sacrifice included.
it’s been an anxious build up as bad gets worse and worse. as his friends pick up clues and notice. bagi says she knows that bad lies and can cause havoc, but she’s not going to leave his side because he is too sad to be left alone. foolish takes note of his color blindness before anyone else. forever demands his time and reassures bad daily that he is there for him. gives him a flower every day. makes an entire party just showing how much bad is cared for and loved. keeps talking and visiting even when he’s ripping out his hair with annoyance because bad just won’t quit being a nuisance, or argumentative, or a probable kidnapper.
it feels like love and doomed endings. it feels like a build up to something tragic. it feels like trying to save a drowning man who won’t let anyone pull him up. because bad is ready to work for the feds, torture people, burn down anything in his way, sacrifice himself in his desperation and grief.
but now its forever who’s gone and decided any danger to himself is worth it for his son. who’s left behind vague goodbyes and see you soons, unsure if he’ll survive but set on the kids surviving at the very least. he’s already decided his death is worth it.
and while it’s not a surprise, it’s enough of a script flip to punch us all in the gut. because we expected tragedy, we expected uneasy goodbyes and self destructive choices and that effect felt across the island - but we didn’t expect it to be forever.
and neither did bad - who relied on that flower every day

Look I understand the desire to see yourself in your favourite characters. But Jason growing up and liking girls is a very important part of the story, it’s a marker of his growth. It’s also an important contrast between his wishes before and after Whizzer gets sick, the very normal teen boy excited about presents and girls and the boy who now just wants his friend to live.
Jason says love isn’t beautiful because the ‘love’ he witnessed between his mother and father led to hurt on all sides. That’s a large part of what Father to Son is about. Marvin is reassuring Jason that he doesn’t have to make the same mistakes he did, that he’ll sing his own song, but he also doesn’t have to figure it out yet, he just has to “be [his] son”.

oh those omegaverse ideas are so good. personally i have the thought of, like, medic reader sort of shyly gives ghost a leash and he picks out a collar for reader to wear in return. they'll walk around on base together with ghost always holding it loosely in his hand, both happy as clams
ASDFGHJK YESSSS
I'm sorry, I have never written leash/collar stuff so I hope I didn't disappoint :)
And, as always, not proof read sk lmk abt any errors
The leash scared him. It signified something permanent, something so much more than just helping you through your monthly heathe does so much more but won't admit to it
At least that what he said when you asked him why he was growling.
He was scared, actually, because he thought the leash was meant for someone else. Dont ask him why, he cant tell you he cant imagine being wanted like that He didn't even notice he was growling until you looked at him funny. To his suprise, instead of hiding it, you come over to him, leash in hand. He can smell the fear on you as you present him with the leash, cheeks flushed and eyes trained on the ground as you hold out the little black rope(?), decorated with skulls and band-aids.
Oh gods, the things he'd do to you if he didn't have to leave in 5 minutes. Which brings him back to why he came to see in the first place. He says his goodbyes, kisses you a little rougher than he should have, and pockets the leash before sprinting out the door to make it to the transport on time.
A week later and Soap is begging him to "just pick one already!" He's been dragging his comrade from store to store for over 3 hours trying to find the perfect collar for you. It won't be as special as the leash, the leash that he'd come to realized you had made him with your own two hands, but he could at least put thought into it.
Two stores and another hour later, he finally finds it. He's still wishes he knew how to make you a collar, but the pretty little thing he's picked out for you is satisfactory enough, or so he hopes. Soap nearly sobs with relief as the head back to the safe house, the collar all wrapped up nice and pretty with a bow on top.
He decides that the agony of shopping with his Lt was worth it when he see you and Ghost the next day. Your smile is blinding, and his Lt looks happier than he's ever seen. Yeah, it was worth wasting half a day in Italy to see that look on his best friends face.

Do you think when Philip first started having outbursts, he worried that when he would find Caleb, he would not see his little brother but a monster?
Do you think he was scared he was going to hurt him?? That Caleb was gonna see him and see the very same witches that spirited him away??
Do you think Philip maybe considered that after saving Caleb, he couldn’t return home as he was? That he could no longer live life as a normal human ?
Then one of his worst nightmares come true, Caleb does see him while he's on a rampage. And worse, he is scared… of him? No… Caleb inches closer…The bittersweet sense of relief and anguish that he must have felt. Caleb recognizes right away and he embraces him..
Do you think Philip ever talked to Caleb about his curse? Do you think he’s shocked when he sees Caleb accepts that his brother can do magic? He’s too uncomfortably okay with all this. His little brother is damaged, in pain, and barely human, but he still loves him…
But worse of all he accepts a part of him that Philip himself never did.
