( I can't say much more because there are so many twists and turns and betrayals and revolutions that I don't want to spoil the whole series)

I actually don’t read individual books that much so if I had to pick a series it would be either Whisper and Weapon by Lynette Noni or Rangers Apprentice by John Flanagan. Both are extremely good and I recommend that everyone reads them.

- The Raven Cycle (Maggie Stiefvater) - a bunch of teenagers search for a dead Welsh king. There are gays, there are ghosts who like glitter, there are living trees, there are magic sentient forests, everything you could need. If you read nothing else on this list, this is the one.

- Skulduggery Pleasant (Derek Landy) - my favourite books since I was a kid. In terms of representation, in the later books we’ve got bi people, lesbians, trans women, and A GENDERFLUID CHARACTER WHO IS NOT A SHAPESHIFTER!!

- Beowulf (unknown) - I personally prefer the John Earle translation but you will need to google every fifth word, so probably go with a different version.

- Percy Jackson/Riordanverse (Rick Riordan) - bro just do it all the gays do.

- The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald) - one of my favourite books of all time just abjdkjledwm,ndscjhsdka.

- A Semi-Conservative List of Worst Nightmares (Krystal Sutherland) - massive trigger warning but tbh life changing.

- Friday Barnes (R.A. Spratt) - imagine Sherlock Holmes but funny and with an autistic teenage girl and excellent supporting characters. Also written by an Australian author so check it out.

- The Medoran Chronicles (Lynette Noni) - another one of my favourite series and another Australian one. Funny, heartbreaking, heartwarming, a sentient library, I may be in love with Kaiden.

- The Wife Drought (Annabel Crabb) - a must read. Nonfiction but also really entertaining. Feminist themes.

- Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte) - she’s queer, change my mind.

- Acting: The First Six Lessons (Richard Boleslavsky) - even if you’re not a theatre student, check this one out.

- Theatre and Sexuality, Theatre and Politics, Theatre and Gender, Theatre and Protest - a bunch of different essays published as books about the place of theatre in our current society.

I was hoping that I’d enjoy the completion of this duology more than I enjoyed the first book, but I have to admit that I feel just as indifferent about the story as I did last year. While Weapon was a super quick read, I felt like I kept waiting for something to actually happen. It was only in the last two chapters that action actually happened, and before that it felt incredibly repetitive of the events in the first book. Despite all of that, the twist in the last two chapters kept my attention and I honestly didn’t see it coming which was a surprise. The twist was incredibly shocking and the end chapter was incredibly dramatic and evocative, and I enjoyed every moment of it.
