I had this edit in mind for this piece, did the sketch for it, and then completely forgot about it. It wasn't until I was checking the old files that I discovered I had this left unfinished. So I took it upon myself to finish it before the month ended. There's always time and space for more paws.

It's the season for more werewolves, and more diamond dogs, and more big doggies doing doggie things. This is a commission, but it's the most self-indulgent commission I've ever drawn, if anything.

Imagine lying in bed at night, and suddenly you feel squished on both sides. You wake up and find your two dogs have sandwiched you in a doggie hug, and you go "This is both the worst thing and the best thing...aw crap, I need to go to the bathroom but I can't move, this is definitely the worst thing...or is it?". Jamesy is finding himself in that situation with his two friends, Brutus and Doggie Slate, who are squishing him like the birb lemon that he is.

Just to confirm it, Doggie Slate is bottomless here. Brutus and Jamesy are wearing clothes, but Doggie Slate is only wearing that very loose shirt. Thought you might like to know. my minotaur boy!! pls click on the photos for higher res! my thesis is focusing on trans men and creatures (how original ik) and this was last semester's final. i spent a lot of time looking at sculptures of the theseus/minotaur story, and yknow? a LOT of them are erotic! i'm pretty sure i saw some of them on tumblr a decade ago, and that's led to this now!

as you'll notice, the minotaur has a big t-dick! i wanted to give him breasts and an enlarged clitoris to present a very masculine trans figure. the boy on the bottom is also trans because i say so . the piece is about looking up to older, bigger, hairier trans men and seeing something awe-inspiring and beautiful. the minotaur was locked up by a cruel father for being different, and i think modern adaptations tend towards a sympathetic asterion (his name in one version)

making this piece was. so much effort. it took me about 3 months to get it all together - from clay model (plasticine) to 3D print to silicone mold to wax cast, and finally bronze pour into the shell mold. and then a TON of filing, sanding, dremel-ing, and various other metalworking techniques that probably took years off my life.

i started with sketches and made theeeeeee ugliest model ever:

then used a 3D scanner to get it digital, then spent a goooood month or two making him pretty in blender! then i spent an agonizing few weeks trying to get it print-ready, and fiiiiiinally did

^^^ an early resin printed draft of the model - you can see in the final that i added lots to theseus after some feedback, but sadly the nosering broke off every time i cast it so i just. let that be <3

then came the moldmaking, and then the wax dipping!! the yellow stuff is shell mold (ground up ceramic bits and algae soup, sticks to the wax, then silica sand in varying sizes on top) which gets the wax melted out, and bronze poured in!

then it's all metalworking, cutting stuff off, and working with hot metal. they don't tell you about all the bronze dust and how annoying it gets wearing a respirator AND goggles. but it is for me health, me boy. here's him all cleaned up before the patina:

and then i spray him down with various chemicals to make it "patina" (aka rust) in pretty colors. wait a few days, then apply paste wax to seal it and give it that shine!

then we get what you see above!!! the blue was actually unintentional, and i'm still not super sure why it looks that way.. but it's pretty so idc <3

Character Introduction 1:

The individual alongside Kuren is named Nicholas Macblaine. He is 27 years old and the protagonist of this story.

He is the son of a globally renowned veterinarian who can treat even beastmen. While he himself holds a veterinary qualification, he lacks the authorization to examine beastmen.

In order to become a specialized veterinarian for beastmen, he journeyed to the far northern lands to become an apprentice and assistant under Dr. Sasha and Dr. Lindsey, a married couple who are both acquaintances of his father, authorities in beastmen research, and Kuren's adoptive parents.

Nicholas is an outstanding individual, but he lacks practical experience and has never directly interacted with real beastmen, despite his knowledge.

Kuren is a werewolf capable of freely changing forms: a skilled human form, a swift beast form, and a strong, large half-beast form.

When Nicholas first encountered Kuren, he approached the smaller human form of Kuren with a sense of security, attempting to greet him just as he would a human. However, as he extended his arm, Kuren transformed into a large half-beast form and nearly bit Nicholas. He was saved in the nick of time by Sasha, who said.

Sasha said to Nicholas.

"Beastmen are both human and beast, yet neither. It's like dealing with both human and animal simultaneously. A misjudgment could be fatal."

Kuren only trusts Dr. Sasha and Dr. Lindsey, displaying an aggressive attitude towards the outsider, Nicholas. For Kuren, the couple is both like parents and the unchallengeable leaders of their pack, which is why Kuren's behavior is stern towards Nicholas.

Kuren believed that an outsider weaker in the pack's hierarchy had joined, leading to his aggressive attitude towards Nicholas. Therefore, Sasha assigned a task to Nicholas.

"To make Kuren acknowledge you as having a higher position than him within two months. If you fail, you won't be able to work here and will have to return home."

Sasha's words are stern, but they also serve to protect Nicholas. It's not only for Nicholas's sake but to avoid the possibility of having to shoot and kill Kuren if he were to attack a human. Thus, with kindness and firmness, Sasha interacts with them, unwilling to compromise.

From there, a new life for Kuren, Dr. Sasha, Dr. Lindsey, and Nicholas begins in the far northern lands.

Nicholas does his best to foster a connection with Kuren, even sacrificing sleep. Yet, in their daily life, Kuren remains hesitant to trust Nicholas. However, on a day when Nicholas is entrusted with Kuren's walk, they encounter poachers hunting werewolves. Nicholas puts himself in harm's way to protect Kuren, piquing Kuren's interest in him. It doesn't take too long for them to become excellent partners. While Kuren still sees Nicholas as a subordinate, occasional displays of affection emerge.

Nicholas is allowed to learn under Dr. Sasha and Dr. Lindsey, and he grows while overcoming various challenges.
