#just saw a post that was like 'if you have religious or moral objections that stop you from providing certain types of medical care maybe#you shouldn't work in healthcare' (paraphrased) and...#what a way to look at the world tbh#like. they're talking about me i think - i am a conscientious objector when it comes to euthanasia#(which granted has come up exactly twice and both cases in a theoretical capacity only this is not a frequent request to me)#and... i am also a good doctor#last week i told someone that her weight doesn't matter to her health with receipts to prove it and she cried#no one had ever told her that before#and that was something that came from me specifically. that was something i would not trust all of the GPs in my practice - a practice of#excellent and compassionate GPs! - to say#i am verifiably doing good in my job that is coming from specifically who i am as a person#i cannot put that down when it comes to issues i care deeply about#fundamentally the fact that i cannot put it down is what makes me a good doctor#i think that's what i'm trying to get at#the reason that i do well by my patients is that i practice out of my values and my ethics#if i did not stand on that core i would not stand at all#so you can't have it both ways. you can't have engaged and active and compassionate healthcare providers without sometimes those engaged an#active providers having things they do not feel comfortable doing#and it is to everyone's service if they are up front about it and do not try to hide (i am suspicious of people who try to hide this)#i am literally figuring this all out as i type hence the v long tag ramble and also being nowhere near the post that started this train#(honestly in med school we talked so much about ethics as like. abortion! euthanasia! trans rights! and the ethics in practice is the littl#things. do you apologise when you mess up. how do you manage a consult with your patient with paranoid dementia and her child in the same#room at one time - or one by one bc that's fraught too. (that one's on top i had one of those today.) how do you act with grace when#you're a bit stressed and your patient is a bit stressed and the nurse wants to add five more things to your book. the day to day ethics is#SUCH a bigger thing when you come to actual practice.)#this is obviously entirely about me and leans on the fact that i largely do think i am doing a good job i am really feeling my own way#to a Thought. but i think to a certain extent it is generalisable

i have written again! this is very exciting for me because i have had no time for such this summer and it was driving me up the wall. so. have a fun little angsty piece about morrigan coping-spoiler alert, not super well-with her childhood, and jupiter being there for her.

It was just so fucking wild to me, the concept of being nice to someone influencing their shopping decisions like that, particularly in my country where generally if you don't suck the customer off then you're getting fired, but for some reason if that customer uses EBT then it's okay to be fucking rude to them???

Phone calls have been made! I have not cried in frustration while on the phone! This is a win.
I still can’t get anything filled before Thursday, though I have at least confirmed I will be RECEIVING them on Thursday, but I at least get where the issue is. (Either: There has in fact been a massive misunderstanding between the pharmacist and the person giving the instructions on how often it has to be taken, and calling the clinic while I’m at the pharmacy on Thursday to make sure everyone’s on the same page while I’m there to clarify ‘This means I need it refilled every twelve days, is this doable?’ should get us what we need, OR everyone does in fact understand that I’m on a prescription where I will go through a new box every twelve days, however, it cannot be filled every twelve days for whatever arbitrary bureaucratic reason, so I cannot take it as prescribed, in which case calling the clinic while I’m at the pharmacy on Thursday should make it clear that I have to be taking it three times a day logistically.)
(The person at the clinic who gives instructions believed the ones she gave were very clear and explicit. Given the previous instructions were at least ‘not clear enough NOT to confuse an autistic person whose memory is still spotty enough from all the Assorted Issues not to remember the doctor said to take it four times daily,’ I’m a bit skeptical, but I can also fully believe it’s a problem on insurance’s end and arbitrary limitations, so.)
Either way, come Thursday afternoon there WILL be both cromolyn and a gameplan so that I know how to take my meds to get them sustainably refilled. So there’s that.

3 straight days of work starting tomorrow at the Hilton, then next week I’m booked in for waiting shifts there again for a couple days and hopefully I’ll get shifts at this other fancy place I done waiting shifts at before next week too coz it’s cool working there and I need the shifts lol
Is it sad I’m excited to work lol? I haven’t worked since the 6th and I’m so use to a busy schedule with work I’ve been kinda going crazy lmfao

IDK WHY I WNJOY IT#bar work is the best but I still enjoy waitressing. I’ve had some shitty jobs man. i enjoy it but it’s more than that ifk#I don’t question it if I’m happy I’m happy. I’m quite bubbly irl kinda annoying to some but whatever#worker at this Hilton so many times but usually it’s breakfast/afternoon tea service but this is a fancy function but I’ve done loads#of those but point is: different permanent staff idk work there whereas I’ve gotten to know ALL the fucking morning:afternoon staff &#they’ll be at another part probably which isn’t far away lol I just wonder who tf my manager tomorrow will be#but I know my temp agency worker will be there for everyone this time but she isn’t usually they must be desperate for staff she’s known to#also help out when needed which is so cool of her#it’s funny you get to know the agency workers. i know a few we even message each other lol.. we run into each other almost all the time#sometimes you get on with people sometimes not lol but if it flows it flows so whatever right? idk I’m high but yes

#you sweat too hard using an iphone and it bricks itself android you could throw in the ocean and a crab would have cell service until the#battery dies#marquilla#both times i wasn't even using the toilet and it managed to drop in :(#first time i was listening to music and i went to set my phone on what i thought was the closed toilet and threw it in the toliet 😭😭#it was still playing music the whole time svdgdggdgdgdgdgdg#this time i was fucking taking off my pants and i went to kick something on the floor and it jostled my phone out of my pocket and bounced#it into the bowl... i was facing the toilet man#dont worry i took the case off and sanitized my phone with alcohol (i do that everyday anyway after work but i took extra care today)#and washed AND sanitized my case and let it dry before putting it back on

#i still to this day don't know if she's in denial or thinks what i'm doing is a hobby#it gets funnier every time#especially today#i was like 'mimma i just came back from work i'm so tired' and she was like 'i make food right now for our future doctor'#like ???????#grandma i love your food pls don't give it to someone else#who doctor ? doctor who ?#me ??????#that is so NOT my career#my already existing one that i fought my entire bloodline for put aside#i can never be a good doctor let alone willingly choose it#1) i suck at biology and science and those pure memorization shit#2) i'm really sensitive to blood or injuries i might faint at just the mention of certain stuff (surgeries are crossed off i would DIE)#3) it's just not meant to be and that's okay#as a society we can't survive with one or two careers all of them are important in their own way#an exercise i would usually tell my students to do at this topic#is everytime you feel like someone's job is useless to close your eyes and imagine a world without it#if i managed to convince them hurray to them#if i didn't i ask them to imagine someone they care for work hard then get told their job is useless#(that on usually does the trick)#the thing is even if you're stuck with a job you hate or can't find a better one#there's still some impotance to that job in a way like they offer service or blah blah#yet it will suffocate you because it's not the career you were meant to have#that summed up means the work environment/pressure/nature are what we really define as useless because they can be unfair#but not the work itself#when we delete those previous stuff off the definition all careers are equally important#i hope i was clear#and i also hope my grandma remembers that too#story time

don't mind me i just got angry at the job i quit 2 years ago again
#so we had to prepare these roasted chickens as a part of the closing shift right#i usually was the one who did this when i was closing#and while one person was doing chickens the other person was managing case and prepping salads for the next day#the person doing chickens was NOT ALLOWED to do case until they were done#because. y'know. cross contamination and all that#they were raw chickens we were handling and we were giving people cooked and ready to eat food#but on more than one occasion i would have to stop doing chickens#because my COWORKER WASNT THERE TO COVER CASE!!!!!!!!!!#and its not like we could go 'oh btw can you wait like 20 minutes?' NO#we had to serve them THEN and THERE#the longer it goes on the more i resent that job and everything it was#do i regret working it? kinda but not really#would i go back? FUCK no#i do not care if my livelihood depends on it#i dont think people realize how bad it was for me and how i'm not exaggerating at all#when i'm losing speech mid shift losing sleep because of stress and my ears are constantly ringing i know its bad bad bad#treat the low wage entry level customer service workers in your life with respect#because they don't get treated with enough respect for what they do
