Eeeeeeek, your dark Lucifer WIP is so captivating! Lucifer comes across so insanely creepy it makes me want to hide in a remote corner. And then you also said you don't really start off your stories with Alastor and Lucifer not really liking each and then developing feelings over time, and in the context here... I just wonder what that would look like. This dark, creepy version of Lucifer developing a crush on Alastor. I wonder what would be the start of that change. 'Cause Alastor already has this primal, instinctive fear of this version of Lucifer who very much seems to want him dead. At the point when Lucifer starts crushing, I bet there would be a moment where Alastor breathes a sigh of relief because even if he doesn't reciprocate at the very least he can rest assured Lucifer doesn't want to pop him like a grape any more, right? Only it's his momentary peace that gets popped because Lucifer's weird creepy unsettling behavior doesn't stop and can you tell I'm rolling around on my bed kicking my feet like a schoolgirl yet?
I'm glad people are finding dark!Lucifer as captivating as I do ^.^
God, there are so many things I want to get into with this AU, but I'm stuck between not wanting to spoil anything for when I DO write it, but really wanting to talk about it because it's been on my brain for sooooo long and I want it out T.T
I guess, one thing I can say is that you're right about Alastor being able to sigh in relief when Lucifer develops feelings, because it gives him reassurance that he won't get snapped out of existence. Although, Charlie would be sad if Alastor got snapped out of existence, so he also had that going for him.
When I get around to properly writing this, I'm very excited to get into Lucifer's creepy side. I adore writing thrillers and suspense, and I've been wanting to read a Hazbin thriller fic sooo much.

↬|Lucifer|
Lucifer's most dangerous/toxic behaviour would be how he deals with strong feelings of intense jealousy towards any of MC's interactions with other demon brothers. While he keeps his jealousy hidden under a confident and controlled demeanour, he has a tendency to subtly undermine their relationships with the other brothers, leading to strained dynamics within the group. He justifies this behaviour to himself as a means of "protecting" MC, but in reality, it stems from his own insecurity and deep-rooted fear of abandonment. Despite his intentions, this behaviour ends up creating more problems than solutions, leaving a trail of tension and discord in its wake.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Mammon|
As the Avatar of Greed, Mammon's most dangerous and toxic behavior is his limitless greed and desire to be richer at any cost. This leads him to engage in unscrupulous and manipulative behavior to accumulate money, power, and possessions, manipulating others and destroying relationships in the process. However, it is important to note that behind Mammon's sinister actions are deep-seated insecurities and abandonment issues that stem from his experiences in his past. At his core, Mammon is a complex character that hides a fragile side.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Leviathan|
Well, you see, Leviathan is a total otaku and a bit of a social misfit. Sometimes, when he's really really upset, he can get pretty aggressive and say some pretty cruel things. He can also get quite obsessive when he's passionate about something like a game or an anime. And let me tell you, he will *not* take any criticism about his favorite anime lightly! He can get pretty nasty when someone attacks his favorite characters. Just watch out when he starts making angry grunts and his tail starts lashing around.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Satan|
His most dangerous toxicity trait is probably his lack of empathy. He enjoys seeing others suffer. He takes ake pleasure in pain, which is why he often provoke others to fight. This has led to many dangerous situations.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Asmodeus|
There's a bunch of bad behavior with Asmodeus, considering his Avatar status. His most toxic behaviour being: that he tends to be quite possessive of those he loves and cares about, often being quite clingy and can sometimes get jealous whenever your attention is not focused on him. Although it is just how he is sometimes, it can get very tiring at times whenever you just want some space to yourself...
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Beelzebub|
Beel's most dangerous behavior is his excessive gluttony. His addiction to food makes him careless and willing to do almost anything for the sake of satisfying his hunger. He can go to great lengths to obtain food, even resorting to stealing or harming others in the process. Ultimately, Beel's dangerous behavior stems from his inability to control his impulses and desires. It can cause harm not only to himself but also to those around him.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Belphegor|
Hmm... His most dangerous and toxic behavior is undoubtedly his tendency to push people away and to be extremely closed off emotionally and physically. If you tried to talk to him or get closer to him, he would push you away and shut down completely, making it impossible to get through to him. It's a defense mechanism he has developed to protect himself but it only ends up hurting others.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Diavolo|
His tendency to underestimate others and act over-confident, leading to risky situations. His impulsiveness and tendency to make quick decisions without consulting his council, which could have serious consequences for the Devildom. His lack of empathy and care for the feelings of others, which has caused strained relationships with some of the other demon brothers.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Barbatos|
The most dangerous/toxic behavior of Barbatos is likely his tendency to conceal information. As the Devildom's butler and advisor to its ruler, Barbatos possesses vast knowledge and a deep understanding of the realms and their inhabitants. However, his strategic nature may lead him to withhold crucial information from the MC, to protect them or keep them in the dark. This can create a lack of trust and understanding between them, which can become problematic and potentially harmful.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Simeon|
One of his most dangerous and toxic behaviors is his tendency to place the needs and desires of others above his own. He often puts himself in positions where he sacrifices his own well-being and happiness for the sake of others. This leads to exhaustion and burnout, as he consistently neglects his own needs and feelings in order to help or please others. Over time, this behavior can cause him to feel resentment and bitterness towards the people he helps, creating a toxic cycle that negatively affects both parties.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Solomon|
His most dangerous and toxic behavior has to be his tendency to prioritize his own interests and goals above all else. He believes that the ends justify the means and have no qualms about using any method necessary to achieve his objectives. This often leads him to use people as mere pawns or tools to further his goals, without any consideration for their well-being or feelings. He may even use manipulation or deception to get what he wants. Ultimately, his self-serving nature can lead to dangerous and toxic outcomes for those around him.

"Great, meeting fucking over, go to Hell - oh wait, you're already there." Adam glared, shoving up from the table as Lucifer looked on with exhaustion deep on the lines of his face.
"Adam, will you please talk to me? You ignore me everytime I try to-" Lucifer stood trying to follow him around the length of the table, desperation in his voice.
"Why the fuck would I ever want to talk to you?" Adam snarled over his shoulder, fists balling up. "After what you did to me?!"
Lucifer opened his mouth, trying to find the words, but his brows stayed knit together. "I... We used to be close, didn't we? You know I would have brought both you and Eve with us, don't you? I was never trying to exclude you."
Adam rolled his eyes, laughing at him for the sheer implication that Lucifer ever cared.
"Yeah fucking right, that's why you fucked them, right? Because you weren't trying to sneak behind my back, steal from me, to run away from me, to fucking abandon me?!" Adam yelled, taking a step closer and closer, until he was towering over Lucifer in the meeting room, casting a long shadow over him, so dark it must have extended into Hell.
"I was trying to save you, Adam." Lucifer didn't back down, grabbing the front of his robes. "That's what I've been trying to tell you - yes, I fell in love with Lilith, but I was trying to rescue you, all of you! If you'd just listen to me!"
Adam grabbed his wrist and tightened his grip around it, leaning in with a sharp glare across his mask. "You thought you could save me from Paradise? How fucking arrogant are you?"
"Yes."
Lucifer used his free hand to reach up, pulling the mask off his face. Adam didn't look good, even as an angel, he had dark circles under his eyes, his facial hair was unkempt, his hair was messy.
"Look me in the eyes as I'm talking to you," Lucifer said, not flinching as Adam tried to break his wrist. "You weren't the first, Adam."
Adam glowered, before the words seemed to sink in on him, brows furrowing. "What the fuck are you talking about?"
"You weren't the first species we tried," Lucifer said barely above a whisper. The entire room felt like a church, eyes from every angle watching them. "You were the first human, but you weren't the first man."
Adam's eyes widened slightly, and his grip loosened. Lucifer could see his breath hitch slightly as insecurities rushed over him, because Adam had always, always been insecure.
"...You're lying."
Lucifer shook his head, regret written across his face. "We tried so many variations in the Garden. They were fine, all of them, nothing was wrong with any of them. They were good, obedient, they did what they were supposed to."
Lucifer's voice wavered, and he looked away from Adam's face, feeling tears pricking at his eyes. "Adam, we eliminated them once they served their purpose. Entertainment."
Adam dropped his hand entirely, taking a step back, fear and distrust clear in him. Lucifer had done too much, stabbed him one too many times in the back for Adam to fully believe him - yet he didn't know why Lucifer would lie right now, after so long.
"You and Lilith were different," Lucifer said, with the barest hint of a smile as nostalgia swept over him. "You two... You weren't perfect. You were both this mess of issues and fears and dreams and you both wanted to do so much. I couldn't let them destroy you, I...I loved you both too much got that to happen."
Lucifer looked back up, grabbing for Adam's hand this time. "The only way to prevent your extermination was to free you from the garden. Eating the apple was the only way. Once that happened, you would become as God, and Heaven would be unable to destroy your souls."
Adam pushed him away, shaking his head, as the hologram flickered and vanished. Lucifer was left alone in the meeting room, shoulders hung in defeat.

Also, since I'm divorce arc posting today, what if i said Dean wasn't wrong to say this:
CASTIEL The plan changed, Dean. Something went wrong. You know this. Something always goes wrong. DEAN Yeah, why does that something always seem to be you?
LIKE !!!!! Sure it was harsh and if emotions weren't heightened already and Dean wasn't still dealing with the very recent death of his mother and that grief (anger being a stage of grief!) and ALL the Chuck shit on top of that AND his own complicated feelings re: Jack's death (bc Dean was Not going to kill him, despite Chuck trying to manipulate him into doing that) he probably wouldn't have said that to Cas but like?? he's not really wrong.
You can easily trace a lot of the major season conflicts as a long line of dominoes starting with Cas's s6 betrayal. Leviathans. Purgatory. The tablets. Angels falling. Lucifer getting out of the cage via Cas possession. Etc etc. And most of the time Cas was doing things from a place of good intentions in his POV. Trying to fix things or spare others the burden of doing the hard thing. But still, these plans often backfire for Cas. Going it alone, not letting Dean (+ Sam) in on his plans, it usually does not end well !!!! They are TEAM Free Will for a reason. The show (and Dean) continuously emphasizes the importance of team and family and not going it alone. So, while what Dean says to Cas in this scene is definitely a harsh pill to swallow and not something I think Dean would say to Cas in normal circumstances, he technically isn't wrong. And that's what makes it such a heart-breaking scene.
And even more-so, he's saying this but he still, at his core doesn't want Cas to leave. ("Of course I wanted you to stay.") At the moment he needs space and time to process his grief re: Mary, and all the other stuff going on, but he still wants Cas there and ultimately wants to fix things. ("I'd rather have you." "We can fix this." "I was there where were you." etc etc)
But to fix things they need to address his huge persistent, recurring issue between them: not communicating effectively and Cas continuously leaving, going rogue, and/or deciding for them when to involve Dean.
Dean wants to work together, as a team. Dean wants to be involved. Dean wants Cas to not just up and disappear and "deal with things" on his own like he always does. Cas, in his own POV, sees his actions as perhaps a form of care. He's protecting! He's taking on the hardships! Also, his hubris, wanting to be the strong protector type. Wanting to be a warrior. Powerful. Securing "wins." And these desires stem from his years as a soldier of Heaven, of equating worth with Results. Not something Dean has put on him or required of him.
But Dean doesn't see Cas's actions the way Cas perceives them. We as the omniscient audience know more about Cas's motivations than Dean does too. Dean often just sees Cas leaving, prioritizing the mission and shutting Dean out. However, I do think it's important to note that Dean is also usually willing to give Cas the benefit of the doubt, defend him, and forgives easily / implicitly.
They both care deeply about each other and don't maliciously mean to press on each other's specific insecurities and traumas but like, Dean is abandonment issues boy. And Cas keeps leaving. Or ignoring his calls when their daily lives are a constant life or death battle because they are literally living in a horror show! Dean is not unreasonable to be worried when he doesn't hear from Cas for days, weeks, months on end. He's not being "clingy" or "demanding." Expecting some base form of communication from the people you care about is normal in any relationship. Cas refusing to communicate in these moments IS a problem between them.
So, when Dean says, "Yeah, why does that something always seem to be you?" re: Cas being the "problem" it's harsh yes! But it's pushing them toward addressing this recurring issue (Cas going rogue often = plans backfiring) and the root of that issue which is Cas continuing to leave to do things on his own, change the game-plan without running it by anyone, and keeping others out. This moment is a breaking point. Because Dean, under normal circumstances, is generally one to defend, forgive, and move past Cas's mistakes. Cas himself says it in this very scene: "You used to trust me, give me the benefit of the doubt."
But at this point something needs to give, they need an explosive moment to just bring all these issues to light. It's a rupture.
Yes, Dean might "still blame [Cas] for Mary" but Cas also knows deeply, as he expresses to Jack, that Dean needs time and space to process his emotions. That he feels things more acutely and intensely but that ultimately he usually comes to a place of acceptance / forgiveness / is able to move on.
That's what Dean wants and needs in this moment. He needs space to deal with his feelings and his grief (clearly in the anger stage of it). And he also wants to finally address these issues! But Cas is also struggling himself and in his own mind he's feeding old insecurities. He let Belphegor get under his skin. He thinks he's not needed or wanted anymore. So, he does what he tends to do. Leave.
CASTIEL Well, I don't think there's anything left to say. [Castiel makes to leave.] DEAN Where you going?
Cas decides to leave and Dean immediately asks where are you going? Because even now, feeling how he does, he doesn't want Cas to leave.
What Dean wants is to have a confrontation. He wants to get to the root of their issues. He asks Cas why didn't he just stick to the plan. And emphasizes the concept of WE, of being a team. "We would've figured it out....after. With Rowena." He wants them to stick together, work together. But he's struggling. He's grieving. And still, he wants Cas to stay, of course I wanted you to stay.
And I say it all here in this post but the whole "I left but you didn't stop me" is just, Cas really? From Dean's POV he sees Cas's leaving as a choice Cas makes. He respects his choice and doesn't ask him to stay because he also does not feel he deserves to ask people to stay for him. He is always putting his own wants and desires second to those of others. He thinks, if Cas wants to leave, who is he to stop him?
Anyways, I think too much of divorce arc puts blame on Dean or makes Dean out to be "the bad guy" and "the reason" Cas leaves and the one who needs to "grovel" and apologize / be forgiven. But Cas is not blameless. Cas leaves because Cas leaves. Cas leaves because he chooses to and because he does not want to confront the realities of the situation or his own role in their issues. And after Cas leaves he continues to bury his head in the sand and be avoidant (thee core issue!) while also going out and working a solo case in an effort to secure a "win" and prove to himself that he's still capable of getting things right and not always failing.
And all of this, the complexity, the layers, Cas's stubbornness and flaws, is deeply delicious to me. Cas is not a blameless innocent little baby who got his feelings hurt by "big meanie Dean" in this situation. He is someone who heard a hard truth from someone he cares about and made the choice to leave instead of confronting the issue. And throughout it all, they both still deeply care about each other. It's evident in everything they do. And they want to work it out, but are both at different places and struggling with their own feelings too.

Adam and the abandonment issues and the negligence of heaven
Hello hello folks, I've been thinking and searching a little lately about Adam and deep questions about his personality, and also because a person (a person who has caused me a lot of harm) came to fight with me because I like Adam and today I'm going to talk a little more about this, I hope you like it.<3
TW: Mentions of trauma, heavy subjects, negligence, profanity, and mention of sex.
Tumblr media
Firstly, I want to address his creation, Adam the first man, the perfect creation by the hands of God, molded and sculpted in his own image, the one who would be responsible for the earth's settlement betrayed by the two woman he was forced to love because they had been created for him.
And yes, I know that Adam tried to command Lilith and try to subject her to her unwillingness, but then I think, no one had ever told him that it was wrong, from the first moment he was created was told that he was God's perfect creation, so he probably felt so "special" that he thought he could boss Lilith around. And then, the first betrayal...knowing that the person he loved hated him and betrayed him with an angel and then falling to hell with him.
And then came Eve...made from a piece of his flesh, his rib, the one made from his own being that he would love just as Lilith did. And then again another betrayal, Lucifer again, but this time not only taking his wife's fidelity but also betraying his trust by trusting Eve and eating the forbidden fruit.
So I think, guys, how much did all of this must have hurt? What is the pain of being betrayed by the people you swore your love to and having your trust betrayed?
Adam all the time in the series he always seems to reassert himself to himself and to people, he look needs that, I just think how insufficient and useless he felt after everything he's been through, to the point of creating a false narcissistic and arrogant personality to hide the broken man deep within himself. Inside all that facade of "Dick Master" and "The First Man" there is only Adam, only a betrayed and hurt man.
The pain of betrayal, I know what it's like, the fear of being deceived and abandoned again by someone better than you, Adam knows what it's like, he knows what it's like to go through it twice. Hiding your real self for fear of being abandoned again, being ridiculed, being seen as weak, try to feel enough by reaffirming to yourself that he is the best, he is the most badass, that he is the first man like a little boy.
I have in my mind that Adam also wears that mask due to low self-esteem because he never takes it off, not even in heaven, unlike Lute who takes off the mask to walk freely in the heaven, but Adam keeps the mask on all the time even though he doesn't need to. I imagine when he got to heaven he was the only one with human appearance, all other angels and winners (Human souls going to heaven) had different appearances, such as animal appearances, so I think he may have made that mask with horns to feel more integrated into that society and less different, and uses it all the time because he feels insecure about his appearance, because of the trauma of being abandoned in the past, not feeling that his appearance was enough, that he wasn't good enough and then just like his false personality he keeps the mask as part of it.
But the question of all this is: did he realize most of it? Everyone thinks that Adam's actions were born out of conscious hatred and malice, like many villains in the series, but I see that more than his choices came out of ignorance and years of incompetent molding by others, pride manifested in negative ways like vanity and arrogance. , while Charlie was raised with limits, pride manifested in more reasonable things like self-respect. To make a long story short, Adam has always been an idiot since he was created, there are lines where he says without sarcasm or hesitation that he has never made a mistake in his entire life, sounding as if he sincerely thinks he has never made a mistake, the fact that he can say that with sincerity and a clear conscience despite being guilty of almost every sin in the book so far really sets him up for a question that makes you wonder what's going on in his head.
And then this line from him in the trial episode: "Well, yeah, they have me here, right, Sera?"
And there it is, the tone and voice of an insecure and confused boy who doesn't know what he preached seeking approval, that's another reason why you can't be mad at Adam, he never had proper guidance or teaching in his entire existence both in the garden of Eden and both in heaven.
In the final episode Adam then gives his final speech, and the way it was presented sounds less like a villain asserting, showing dominance one last time, it's more like genuine confusion, as if this isn't how he was told that things are supposed to be, this isn't how things are supposed to work, which feels a lot like his first dialogue when he's introduced, his understanding seems like such a soft thing and he believes it with all his might, as if he needed something to believe in.
All of us living beings we are generated in our mothers' wombs and then we are born and protected and taught by our fathers, taught what is right and wrong, protected and safe. But Adam, he was just raised as an adult and with a purpose behind him, so I think "Could it be that Adam was just a confused little boy in an adult's body with a big obligation on his hands?"
Adam was barely created and already had a purpose to fulfill, he was barely born and already came face to face with someone different from his physiognomy (different between male and female) and kind of practically forced to love her since he barely knew her (Lilith).
I'm not trying to rub Adam's head (I'd really like to stroke his hair) and put him in the position of victim, but guys, he is also a victim! He had never been taught that it was wrong, God, the Seraphim and all of heaven never lifted a finger to give him advice or try to teach him, no one consoled him after he was betrayed, no one was there for him, no one.
So I assert, that Adam is just protecting himself with his big ego and arrogant narcissism and obeying what he thought was right for the seraphim is all he knows.
I also want to highlight, about the first episode of the series, where the meeting with Charlie takes place. Man, he was practically having to have a face-to-face meeting with the DAUGHTER of his first wife's betrayal with Lucifer, and having to hear her say that what he was doing was wrong (not that it really wasn't, but it was the only way to balance the population of hell since most sinners refuse to redeem themselves), I'm honestly not impressed or surprised by Adam's rude reaction, practically having the living embodiment of his first wife's betrayal in front of him telling him what he was taught and allowed to do was wrong.
Adam is not an idiot without feelings, in the scene of his death you can see this, in the moment he looks at Lute and gives her one last smile as consolation to her because he knew she was little by little dying but this time forever, and also as said before in the court scene where he seeks approval from Sera, like a confused boy looking for approval.
Now moving on to Adam's abandonment issues, as I said before in a headcanons post, Adam reaffirms himself by saying that he hooked up with and had sex with several girls, an example of this is him bragging to Charlie during the meeting that he says he had sex with a girl who was interested in the drummer of his band, but honestly, I think that's all a lie, It may be true but I doubt he felt any connection with any of them, I doubt he took off the mask and showed his true self to them, and besides the fact of his fear of being abandoned again, fear of falling in love again and then being betrayed again, as someone who has been through this, I know how the fear of it continues to haunt you and how it hinders your relationships.
In short, I think that Adam was a victim of the negligent system of heaven, but he was also evil, killing demons en masse and causing genocides in hell in the days of extermination, but here comes a question...
"What would happen if there was no extermination?"
We have already been shown that hell ends up with an overpopulation due to the amount of sinners that go there, if I could guess I would say that more people go to hell than to heaven, and it is well shown that most people in hell don't listen to Charlie and her idea of redemption, so I ask you, Were the exterminations necessary or not?
Well, a while ago I was watching a very good YouTube channel and I found an incredible video where he talked about Adam and whether he deserved to die or not, that's the video if you want to see it, he gave me some inspiration for this post. ☝🏻🤓
youtube
Adam was actually a tragic character, in essence I believe Adam was someone who had a lot of insecurities and doubts about himself and hid all of this behind his facade, he built this idiotic bad boy and Dick Master persona around him, with the intention of keeping people at a distance and asserting oneself, thus avoiding more hurt and heartbreak.
When he was about to die, he saw that despite his idiotic facade and his best efforts to keep people away, someone (Lute) still cared about him. And in the end, I think that's all he ever wanted, someone who truly cared about him despite the rude way he treated her, and so he died with a smile on his face. Someone really liked him...(I would also love him regardless of his personality, I would try to understand why he is like that, the famous "I can fix him")
Returning to the subject of neglecting of the heaven, from the same channel I mentioned before I found a very good video that talks about this, addressing Adam, heaven and the history.
youtube
In my view, Adam was and was not a victim, he was the antagonist of the first season, of course, but we also have to see that he was also one of the victims and one of the most affected due to the lack of responsibility and negligence of heaven in not having disciplined him or at least taught him that it was wrong, I know that Adam is not a child but for me deep down he was just a confused boy in the body of an adult who had no reception or teaching and was betrayed and abandoned by those he loved and trusted more.
Tumblr media
Well guys, that's all for now at least, for me Adam is a deep character, full of hidden pain and confusion, honestly I love Adam, I love him very much, he is one of my comfort characters and one that I identify with a little (As for being neglected, I didn't have very good parents and I paid my price for that and nowadays I have some emotional problems because of that).
I wish more people could see the good in Adam and not just fight me and lecture me like how "you wish I talked about my dick all the time and had sex with all the girls he saw in front of me? Do you will like it?" , this was someone's comment during an argument with me and honestly I was hurt by it, yes I'm a slightly sensitive person, but man, it was hard to try to understand the character a little? not even a bit?
Well, thank you very much for your attention, I really enjoyed writing about Adam, it's always very good, kisses in your hearts, bye bye. 💗🎸

I really want possessive Lucifer to fight for Adam with the Eve situation.
So what if, yes, Eve wanted Adam back but it wasn't coming fully from a place of love. She's been in Hell a loooooooong time no one gets out uncorrupted. And her and Adam would have shared certain views, views Adam no longer shares since coming to terms with being bisexual.
What if also a big reason Eve wants him back is so she doesn't want him in a gay relationship ESPECIALLY if it's with Lucifer.
Maybe Lucifer just happens upon Eve one night and she's on the phone to one of her kids and hears it.
Eve, on the phone: Don't worry sweetie, that short asshole came between your father and I once I won't let that happen again.
And it's basically a case of she doesn't so much want him back but she just doesn't want Lucifer to have him. Stringing him along kinda.
Sorry if this is long, my Adamsapple heart just wants him to fight for what he has with Adam.
See, that's different. Usually when people talk about Eve, she tends to be more on the good side, you know? A sweet mother, a sweet woman, etc etc.
But if Eve, or whatever other woman, just turned out to be an asshole that just wants to use Adam, then a different part of Lucifer's brain would activate, the protective side. NOW we're talking.
In the other scenario, it's Lucifer's insecurity, depression and abandonment issues that would take the driver's seat and make Lucifer retract to his old coping mechanisms, but if he thought Adam was in DANGER (even emotionally), then all of that goes to the back and it's PROTECTIVE LUCIFER TIME
It doesn't matter anymore if Adam wants him or not, it doesn't matter if what they have is real or not, it doesn't matter if Adam ends up hating him afterwards, he IS NOT going to let that woman get away with that.

A hazbin hotel hot take that shouldn’t be a hot take is that I don’t feel bad for Adam. People just made up his “abandonment issues”. It was not even stated in the show.
Cause first of all, why would I feel bad for him because his wife chose to leave the toxic situation she was in? People who think it’s that easy to just “talk it out” with him have never been anywhere near a man like him. Like do you really think a narcissistic misogynist man would just say “okay” if you told him that what he is doing to you is harmful and not right? No!
Can we stop villainizing women for getting out of toxic relationships? Cheating is obvi wrong but what was lilith supposed to do? You can hate her for leaving Charlie and Lucifer for heaven cause there is no clear reason why yet, but villainizing her for leaving someone who doesn’t see her as an equal and therefore tries to assert dominance over her is pretty misogynistic.
Honestly if Adam hadn’t smiled at Lute when he died, people wouldn’t be saying “he’s insecure 🥺” or “he has abandonment issues 🥺”

Anyways! As proof that I can in fact write Vox, have a little RadioSilence thing I wrote.
Summary: Rumours say the revered Radio Demon is back in town, how does his old pal Vox react?
cw: semi rewrite of episode 2, minor staticmoth, angst, Vox's crippling insecurity issues, unreciprocated love
word count: 1.2k
Foolish One
How fucking dare he?! After all, they had been through, their business endeavours... Their friendship? Was it all for null? Was it his fault…? Fuck no, he was the best, nothing was ever his fault.
Said tumultuous thoughts plagued the Technology overlord daily. Ever since that wretched Radio Demon disappeared from Vox’s life, he had been void of all meaningful emotion.
Rather Vox drove himself mad with his own work, drowning in it to avoid having any time to dwell on his own thoughts. He spent more time with Val and Vel. Their partnership eventually becoming more of a casual sexual relationship with the doll, and a full-fledged relationship with the moth. Though, neither of which could fully satiate him.
In life, Vox wasn’t one for relationships, he was enamoured with his own work, much akin to what he had been doing these past 7 years.
Greed, power, fame.. It was all that ever pleased him, both in life and death.. His intricate way of words, how seamless it was to manipulate someone, especially with modern day’s technology.. A few advertisements here and there, and VoxTech stocks would be booming.
That was until he met Alastor, together they could take over Hell and be the true leaders instead of that pathetic excuse for a king, Lucifer. The media demons, covering both radio and tv.. The power the two would hold would be immeasurable.. Oh how Vox longed for the days where his dreams contained those two things. Power.. and Alastor..
Alastor.
To say Vox's relationship with the Radio Demon was bittersweet would be an understatement. He despised him, the thought of seeing Alastor being hurt brought the TV immense joy He despised that deer. Seeing him in pain would be glorious.. Dishevelled, bloody… The thought alone sent a shiver up Vox’s spine..
But yet, his stomach would drop ever so slightly if said thoughts weren't caused by him.
If anyone else was to injure Alastor, they'd have to be God himself.. No one struck more fear into people than Alastor.. No one was stronger than Alastor… Right..? Well, at least no one had made it known if that were the case.
Vox had to be the one to cause Alastor’s suffering. He of all people deserved it. That asshole was the one to betray him after all.. Abandoning him when he needed him most…
Raindrops pattered against the window, creating a soothing harmony. Hopefully it was lulling most inhabitants of Pentagram City to sleep.. Humans did always have a tendency to find great comfort in the rain, even searching for things such as 'Relaxing rain sounds to sleep to' or other types of white noise. The repetitiveness of the rain did reduce stress, but on nights like these, Vox found himself wide awake.
Mindlessly staring out the window from his bed, Vox let out a small sigh.. Was it out of frustration, from sadness, longing? Vox himself couldn't pinpoint it, perhaps it was an accumulation of all those, and maybe more.
Soft snores echoed in the almost barren room. Ah.. Right. Val was here, Vox had almost forgotten, being so lost in his thoughts.
Rumours had spread like wildfire around Pentagram City, rumours of Alastor being back in town, that he's been lurking about..
Vox had eyes and ears everywhere within the city, and somehow without fail, Alastor had managed to escape from every lens.
The rumours were even nonsensical things such as him helping out the Princess of all people?
That made no sense at all.. Scouring through his thoughts files, dating back at least two decades ago, not once did Alastor ever mention growing close to the Princess, the subject of all their discussions regarding the royal family was solely focused on Lucifer and how to kill him, or kidnap him, torture him..
It made no sense.
Even then, if Alastor truly was back in town, why wouldn't he visit, did their final conversation linger on Alastor's mind too?
Vox felt sick to his stomach reminiscing on it. A foolish mistake on his behalf. Yes, of course he tried to invite Alastor to join the Vees.. to which Alastor rejected. That pissed him off..
But even worse, Vox confessed his love for Alastor that very same day.
After working together for so long, Vox had grown to admire Alastor, Vox wasn't one to admit when he felt inferior to someone, but even without words, it was obvious to both overlords.
Admiration turned into idolisation. And idolisation turned into infatuation.
Many moons had passed since Vox’s realisation of this.. frankly, rather embarrassing crush of his. Words weighed heavy on his shoulders of how he would confess, if he was to do that at all.
But one thing was clear, even in the present day. Those feelings would never leave him.
Those words haunted Vox.. How meekly he sputtered out “I think I love you” after plotting their next business deal together.
He planned exactly what to say, why didn't he stick to it?! This internal battle is something Vox fought with every day.
But one thing confused Vox more than anything.. Why did Alastor only laugh before continuing their discussion?
Was it to ridicule him? Brush it off? Or was it a knowing laugh?
With being a Television, Vox held the capability to record his every day life, typically he would delete the recordings by the end of the day, or trim it so only relevant and important parts remain, but Alastors laugh, his own final goodbye to Vox, had never been deleted, in fact. It plays in his dreams every night. It meant too much to him.
Without realising it, said recording had been echoing throughout the room, waking up his lover in the process.
With a grumble, Val finally opened his eyes, feeling himself growing crazy from the laugh track repeating for the past five minutes. “Voxy, I swear if you do not stop playing that shitty deer’s laugh, I'll castrate you.”
Well.
That's certainly a way to snap someone out of their thoughts.
“Oh.. Sorry, I didn't realise it was playing.” Vox replied, too tired to put up much of a fight. “I'll just get some work done, sorry for waking you.” And with that, he got up and left for his surveillance room.
Rather uncharacteristic of him to just up and leave without even a small spat, even Val noticed. But the moth needed his beauty sleep after all, so paid no mind to it… He'll remember in the morning… probably.
Within no time at all, Vox had began scanning all of his monitors, just trying to see a glimpse of his old friend.
Nothing.
Zilch.
Nada.
Where.Was.He.
Frantically, he started to reverse the security footage, how idiotic.. Why would he be out at this time of night? But as he reversed through the evening, then afternoon, morning… To yesterday, even ereyesterday. He was nowhere to be found.
Vox could only feel his frustration growing stronger and stronger as his screen started to glitch rather periodically.
Within enough time, with seven years of pent up frustrations, sadness, betrayal.. The overlord’s emotions boiled over in a cacophony of glitches and harsh sobs causing the city to have yet another blackout.

// bc meowing on discord isn't enough for me. I need some more discussion on Adam's character and how actually yummy it is, mmk.
I have seen so many analysis on why Adam is a lazy villain and not well thought out at all, so here we go bitch- on why that's incorrect. And also my thoughts in general on the character (technically not canon, but we don't have more in depth scenes with Adam aside from him interacting with Sera and literally just death smiling at Lute.)
First and foremost - the man is a vindictive shit. Like what I get is that for episode 1, he was just going to tell Lucifer 'ok see ya next year' at that scheduled meeting. But Lucifer flakes out and sends his cuck child (which slightly irks Adam ofc). But the fact that she then tries to snake (haha joke) oil sell him on this stupid hotel shit is warrant enough for him to be like 'yeah, actuaaaaally... we gonna come back in 6 months now.' Cuz 1, it annoyed him, and 2- the subtle triggering of an old testament character that never got second chances as far as Eden was concerned and is very much in the 'you do to this to me ...I do this back' mindset.
So when Charlie actually goes over his head to Sera and exposes what they've been doing to heaven, that's when 'just coming back early' turns into attacking her hotel. He even shows this behaviour to Vaggie when she runs off to the bathroom instead of sticking around to help shut Charlie down like he'd told her to do- thus his rebuttal is exposing her angel lineage. It's all completely justified in his 'eye for an eye' equation.
Then when Charlie actually fights back that's another infraction and grounds for him lumping her in with all that should be exterminated too, deal or not. Because none of this would have happened at all if she had just 'stayed in her place' and hadn't attended that first meeting, let alone with her redemption plans.
Unfortunately how involved of a villain he is gets overshadowed by the dudebro jokes and memes. Viv actually did say she wished we'd gotten more time with Adam and most likely any hint of his actions and motives were overshadowed and not disclosed for it except the pretty little bow they put on him in the brief look he shares with Lute in the finale.
There's no question that Lute is like a protege to him and his views and values as they're always together/ sidekicks, possibly even lovers depending on how things pan out exposition wise. He's trained her to be about as insufferable and vicious as he is, and I don't think it's a coincidence aside from he just thinks it's funny as fuck to watch her go off on folks with her potential (and definitely exploitable) mental illness. In a sense, he's coaching her to be as insufferable as he is because then she won't ever be able to leave him (most likely his biggest insecurity sticking point) because no one else will tolerate her like he does. She clearly understands the assignment because even Adam gets occasionally rendered speechless by what comes out of her mouth as seen by her overly enthusiastic execution plans.
And lastly! Adam's abandonment issues are interesting in that he would blame everyone for leaving him being the reason why he treat folks as if they already had done that to him. But Lilith most likely leaves him because he tried to command too much of what happened between them/being a stifling, overbearing, and demanding partner. After that happens, he likely backs off a bit and takes a more lax approach with Eve in comparison because he doesn't want the same situation happening. Only it does BECAUSE he was too lax and thus was unable to be the voice of reason to Eve when she was being instructed to eat the apple.
Now because he knows neither approach will keep someone in their place, his final solution comes with how he interacts with Lute- basically convincing her and likely the other exorcists that the rest of heaven outside of the flock will never understand them and the lengths they go to in order to keep the peace in heaven. Because there's no clear way out of an echo chamber and you just keep returning to the source of it at the end of all things said and done.

(it’s me but I made a writing specific account)
To answer some of the questions you were posing: yes, the way he’s been treated by the other angels definitely add to his fears of being discarded again. At this point he probably feels like he can’t trust what the other person is acting like anyway, so while Lucifer is certainly warmer and more engaged than Sera or Michael, it’s not something that factors in yet because he’s still on eggshells mode. It also doesn’t help that he had ordeals with his human relationships: Lilith, which I’ve written about, and Eve which I might not fully get around to in this fic. They fall apart after Cain and Abel, a parallel to real life cases in which parents divorce or split up after the murder of a child. Literally everyone in Heaven (as far as he can tell) turning their back on him is just cementing his abandonment fears.
Each time he’s dropped it feels to him like he’s not performing well enough for some reason or another, so he’s afraid of failing the standard that he thinks Lucifer wants or is setting, but it’s a standard in his own head. Everything that tests it makes him anxious which we get in the more recent chapters, where he thinks he’ll be dumped because Charlie will demand it, or because Lucifer will be mad at him about Lilith. That threat Lucifer gave him at the beginning of the deal doesn’t help, because it sort of underlines his feeling that he’s expendable.
Really he’s at the point where his biggest issue in the relationship are those fears of being abandoned (which Lucifer shares! He’s also got insecure attachment!) that they both get to work through together.
Emily: I don’t think he takes her coldness as personally as Sera or Lute’s, because these two are so different I don’t think they’d have been close. I think he would have been fond of her like this sweetheart ball of energy I see at work sometimes, but he doesn’t take her seriously. So if she makes an overture of friendship he’d actually be receptive. He wouldn’t spill his life story or anything but it’d be fine.
Michael would feel like such a huge backstab, because the way I’ve written him into this he’s as much a mentor as Sera is if not more. Michael trains him in fighting and weaponry and I see Adam at first trying to fill that Lucifer-shaped hole (pfft) for someone to answer his questions and be kind of a guiding voice. He also deals with a super confusing crush on him for a WHILE, which is not reciprocated at all. Another relationship I would like to fit in to the fic proper but not sure where it would go.
I’m going to rant about Epic songs and splinter!Adam actually. You’re so right about it being Adam-coded, the themes of him voluntarily stripping himself of his humanity to become a monster in order to protect what he has to, his identity as a husband/father at the core of his person, even that struggle of desperately wanting to return home, but unlike Odysseus, he doesn’t have one to return to anymore. Also I listened to My Goodbye a lot for my idea of his relationship with Sera and Michael
Tumblr media
YESSSSS this is so GOOD!!!
I hadn't even considered My Goodbye in my "Adam as Odysseus" equation but it fits so well! He's trying to see the humanity in creatures that don't have any, that only ever saw him as a pawn for their own use, and moment he did anything they disapproved of they kicked him out!
Emily seems to be significantly better on that front, so I'm curious to see what interactions between her and Adam might look like. Will he be too hurt from his failed connection with Sera and Micheal to even try befriend her? Will she still be angry at him for the exterminations? Will she find out how much of himself he gave up to protect Heaven and the people he cares about?
Where does it put his relationship with Lucifer, who also used to be an angel? We know Adam is scared of being left behind, even more so now that Heaven (and by extension Sera and Micheal) ditched him. His connection with Lucifer does seem a lot more real... but I'm not sure if he thought that about Sera or Micheal too. Does their coldness and willingness to just leave him the moment he messes up (something Lucifer threatened him with at the start!!) add to his anxiety about messing up with Luci?
All of these are just my thoughts and speculations by the way, not questions you need to answer!
For "Just A Man" and "Monster" I have a lot more to say, and I'll talk about those in the other ask you sent about songs I associate with Splinter Fractures. It's a long one so it might take a bit, but I'm working on it!
Indigo (so hype for Splinter Fractures aaaa <333)

ok so i've had a running theory that simeon might actually want to *be* human, or at the very least abandon the celestial realm and live in the human one. I mean he already has a humansona wich he uses to write TSL and then theres the implications of what Raphael said about how he could almost mistake him for a human, and now theres the fact that he's diched his celestial outfit for his human one (though that could just be bc the devs have no other outfit for him). idk i might be reading into things too deeply but i've grown attached to this theory/headcanon lmao
I think it'd be more complicated than simply wanting to abandon the Celestial Realm?
For one there's someone in the Celestial Realm who terrifies him, he has a job he loves in the Human World, he has friends both there and in the Devildom, he desperately misses Lucifer (and his brothers), he doesn't agree with some of the things the Celestial Realm does
BUT
He's lived in the Celestial Realm for millions of years, he genuinely loves it despite it's faults, he has Luke, Luke who is still just a child and who should definitely not be left alone under Michael's guardianship, Luke who he adores more than anything else, Luke who'd never leave the Celestial Realm, Luke who might never understand or forgive him if he abandoned him
I think Simeon would have very mixed feelings about his loyalty to the Celestial Realm and that Luke would be major deciding factor
From what is said in the hard lesson, I think whatever's happening to Simeon isn't happening voluntarily. He's stressed & saddened by it and calls it his "issues" and is scared to tell Luke about them because he doesn't want to upset him.
If Simeon ends up in the Human World, even if a part of him likes it, I don't think it'll happen willingly. It could very well be a punishment for stealing from Michael (the S2 cliffhanger chat of Michael telling Simeon they need to talk that has not being revisited so far)
Simeon also opened a cafe in the first place under orders from Michael so yeah I feel like since they already demoted him for whatever he did during the brothers' rebellion or after it, they may be trying to take even more serious steps so trying to push him out? Or suspend him for the time being?
I think Rapheal saying that Simeon could almost be mistaken for a human, was a dig. It's something both Lucifer & Beel say that Raphael does. He makes snide and sarcastic remarks about people's insecurities. He did it to Lucifer about his brothers and he did it to Beel about his uncontrollable strength
Also I'm 100% sure the clothes were a deliberate choice by the devs because:
1. Everyone else is back in their S2/RAD clothes
2. Luke's dressed as an angel
3. Raphael is gonna be dressed as an angel and it's going to be glaringly obvious that Simeon isn't
4. MC being allowed to comment on his clothes
5. His dismissive comments when MC asked if he was representing the Celestial Realm
6. The devs didn't need to make a new outfit for him, they just needed to switch back to his previous outfit like they did for everyone else. They won't suddenly get lazy for just one character.

I, like many other fans, was disappointed with several aspects of Lucifer's final season. Although it could have been much worse, I feel like certain decisions ruined several aspects of the show. For example:
They didn't show nearly enough of Trixie this season and didn't give her a satisfying ending. Not only did it make no sense for Chloe to ignore her child so often after Trixie just lost her dad, but she never officially found out about the celestials in her life and never got to say goodbye to Lucifer.
It was tough to care much about a new daughter from the future who was introduced at the last minute, yet had such a huge impact on her parents' stories. Especially seeing how sidelined Trixie was this season for a biological daughter (with Rory even saying Lucifer wasn't Trixie's real dad 😡).
I disliked the reasoning behind Lucifer abandoning his family at the request of a daughter who shouldn't have been that invested in Lucifer's calling. Yes it was important, but why was she willing to put them all through so much suffering for a calling that had nothing to do with her?
It was especially tragic to see Lucifer's choice essentially taken away from him because of Rory's insistence/coercion that he keep everything the same, after how much the show emphasized personal choice and responsibility. Not to mention his separation from his family for most of their lives is just needlessly tragic after everything they've been through.
Here's how I think the final season could have been made 100x better while still keeping the overall plot and taking into account the scheduling/COVID safety issues with Trixie's actress:
Instead of introducing Rory, have Trixie be the one who time travels back from the future to see Lucifer (therefore keeping her character relevant while using a different actress). This could be explained by her having asked Charlie to send her back in time. Not only would it make sense for Charlie to be the one to develop time traveling powers (since Amenadiel's powers were also time-based), but his powers could even be teased briefly with baby Charlie earlier in the season.
Her anger would be due to two reasons - Lucifer abandoning her so shortly after her father died, and Chloe telling Trixie that Lucifer was the only one who could have freed Dan from Hell, but that he didn't do it before leaving. Perhaps Chloe waited until Trixie was in her 20s/30s before telling her this, and that was the breaking point that made Trixie ask Charlie to send her back in time.
In the past, she somehow conceals her identity and uses tricks Maze taught her over the years to (pretend to) threaten Chloe in order to force Lucifer to bring Dan to Heaven. Lucifer knows he can't do that and it would likely make Dan a ghost, but Dan agrees to it anyway to save Chloe.
Once he's back on Earth, Trixie demands to know why Dan isn't in Heaven and gives up when both Lucifer and Dan convince her it's impossible. Realizing she failed her father, Trixie frees Chloe and leaves (obviously never intending to harm her in the first place). She later comes back, revealing her identity and explaining why she did what she did, why she's so angry at Lucifer, and how things go down in the future.
All the same shenanigans ensue, with Lucifer asserting he would never leave Chloe and Trixie, and trying to prove that he does actually love Trixie as his own daughter. He could do the same goodbye tour just in case, but this time spend a day at the beach with Chloe and adult Trixie.
Meanwhile, child Trixie can be off at a camp designed for children who lost a parent(s) and want to spend time with counselors and other grieving kids to help them recover. This would be a much better explanation than Trixie being off at a science camp and never seeing her mother so shortly after the trauma of losing her father.
All the other plots could still happen with Dan trying not to be a ghost, possessing Le Merc, talking to Lucifer and realizing he needed to speak to (child) Trixie, etc. Lucifer would still realize he didn't want to be God while Amenadiel would realize he did want to be God, yet more emphasis would be placed on Lucifer wanting to find his true calling.
Le Merc could kidnap adult Trixie, and she could similarly need to be talked down by Lucifer so that she didn't kill Le Merc in revenge. They could still figure out that Lucifer ultimately helped Dan get into heaven, and that he has helped other people (like Lee and Trixie) move past their own mistakes/flaws.
Rather than pressuring Lucifer to keep the time loop the same like Rory did, Trixie could explain how important it is to her that Dan was able to get into heaven because of Lucifer (and the time loop). And how important it is to her that other people who made mistakes, like her father, can get into heaven with Lucifer's help too.
Chloe's acceptance would be due to several things: wanting Dan to get into Heaven, being happy Lucifer found his calling, and - tying into the background plot of police brutality/inequality- realizing that many 'criminals' are a product of our broken system and deserve the chance to better themselves in this life or the afterlife.
Perhaps if they changed the focus of the Hell episode (where Lucifer helped the guy he hated confront his deepest insecurity), to his brother Michael instead, Lucifer would have a deeper connection to his calling. If he could learn to care about and understand Michael, he could care about/understand anyone. Perhaps Michael's issues aren't fully resolved by the end of that episode, but some sort of progress was made. This would enhance Lucifer's motivation to follow his calling/keep the time loop and give the ongoing Lucifer and Michael plot a real conclusion.
To emphasize that this really is Lucifer (and his loved one's choice) - rather than Rory or fate itself - perhaps they could even include a conversation with Ella, theorizing the possibility of creating an alternate universe if he chooses to break the loop, rather than making it seem like the loop is inevitable.
As such, he willingly chooses to 'abandon' his family (with their consent) for the next decade or two so that Trixie time travels and all of this comes to pass.
But unlike the finale, he can become a part of their lives again after Trixie has completed the time loop. That way, he isn't apart from Chloe and Trixie for the rest of their lives, but they all had a chance to learn and grow on their own before coming back together and understanding one another.
All of this would have provided a much more satisfying conclusion to the show. It would respect the relationships already formed (and affirm the validity of non-biological family), respect Lucifer's newfound ability to make his own choices, keep character motivations realistic, and more.
What do you think? What would be your preferred finale of Lucifer?

A Lesson in Love - A “Character Analysis” on Asmodeus
I had to come for the tracks, wigs, and weaves of bitches when Pomade dropped because I saw people talking shit about my boy. This was a milestone “project” or “reward” I guess?
I hit 400 followers today while I was out running errands!!! Thank you guys SO SO MUCH for the love and support! I can’t WAIT to produce more content for everyone!!!
Below the cut there WILL BE talk of season 3, as well as some talk of chapter 16. There’s a healthy amount of theorizing on his personality as well, I hope you don’t mind! This came out more like a plea to get people to change their minds about how Asmo really is, rather than a comprehensive essay of sorts. So here we go!
Tumblr media
There’s something we apparently still need to talk about in this fanbase. The unrealistic idea of Asmodeus being a sex freak, and an unreliable person in general despite there being little proof of it. We need to set a few things straight about Asmo moving forward.
December 25th rolled around and Asmo’s audio drama and song were released. I take it everyone enjoyed both parts, as well as I did. My timeline both on twitter and tumblr were filled with Asmodeus content, as well as the other brothers and such. But I mostly got Asmo content. However, in peeks and cracks, if I looked hard enough, I still saw people who absolutely loathed Asmo or who were indifferent to him. Keep in mind; I think it’s okay. You don’t have to like everyone.
I’ve only joined the fanbase in September, but even I could tell some of these takes were old fashioned. I downloaded the game on October 17th, a very important anniversary for me, while I
was still in bed in the morning. I blazed through the entire story of season 1 and now I am stuck in season 2, specifically in Chapter 24. I obviously don’t have every card of Asmodeus with his Devilgrams, but I have been analyzing his character over the past few days for this.
So needless to say, I have a considerable amount of information on him, as well as personal thoughts that may help some learn to love him. Or at the very least, from spreading a negative idea of him around as if it were true. Enough that should help clear his name, so to speak.
Let’s look at his title; Avatar of Lust. Now naturally the thoughts that come to your head are sex and other sexual bits. So I can understand how some people would come to the conclusion that he’s just a sex freak. But if you look under the surface of his title, like I’m sure you’ve had to for your own personal favorites (*cough* Lucifer, Belphie, and Satan ESPECIALLY) you would discover that Asmodeus is more than just about sex. In fact, sex takes up very little of his pass time, if you were to believe it!
In recent chapters, as I’ve been told, Asmodeus doesn’t really get around much anyways:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Granted, this was said while in Celestia, but I imagine not much has changed for him since his fall, as well as his brothers.
Not really comfortable being with just anyone, huh…? Sounds like someone who doesn’t have sex so warily often as you’d think!
Being lustful can come in many shapes and forms. It can be merely in appearance, which Asmo is not afraid of doing. He’s very comfortable about skinship and it’s very apparent in how he dresses and acts that he wants you to adore his body. To worship it! Maybe not sexually, but aesthetically! Being lustful can mean just thinking about sex or sexual scenarios often, which if you take a peek at Asmo’s chat’s either with you or his brothers, is very apparent too.
Personally, I believe that people would assume he is not good in a relationship because he would have a “cheating problem”. I don’t think Asmo is a monster, just like I don’t think any of the brothers are monsters. They may be demons (technically fallen angels) now but they used to be angels too. Their falling out with their Father doesn’t mean they’ve completely abandoned morality, it was a rebellion for Lilith’s right to live. Not for them to sin as they pleased. For all we know they might have been fine in Heaven otherwise! (with the exception of Lucifer.)
A monster knows right from wrong and chooses evil anyways. An ignorant person doesn’t know right from wrong. Asmodeus is not a monster, nor is he ignorant.
When Asmo genuinely loves you, I think he would take steps to calm down that side of him, if it were to exist. Lust is fairly limited, but it is a part of love to some extent. LOVE is vastly different. Love has many languages, and they aren’t all spoken either. For me, personally, I found that Lucifer’s love language can be either very direct, or roundabout so as to not let it go to your head, for an example. Asmo is just far more direct about his care for you.
I feel as though Asmo gets a lot of crap constantly for his presumed nature and because we don’t get to see much else of him at first, especially in season 1, his impression on us sort of stays. With most of the fanbase either somewhat new to the game or somewhere lost in the sea of the difficulty curve that is season 2, we can only assume based on what we’ve seen, and what others have headcanoned about him.
Let’s break and talk about Satan for a moment; this is going somewhere.
I’m led to believe that Satan can control his sin fairly well. He’s easy to get irritated, sure, but he isn’t as much of a walking ball of rage as I suspected. I would argue that, aside from Leviathan, Satan can handle his sin the best out of the brothers. But again, we’re forgetting about Asmo. The Avatar of “Lust”. Like I’ve shown before, he doesn’t really sleep around a lot, according to anon.
At worst, Asmo being flirty is through text and he’s not actively trying to sleep with you. It can be interpreted that way, but for me personally, it comes down to having a friend that is very up close and in your personal space.
(I myself am one of these types of people. Having ADHD, my social cues are always sort of off, and I’ve struggled with coping with it for years. With my best friend, we have seen each other naked countless times and have slept in the same bed as well. We were never romantic with each other. We were just very comfortable being close and personal with each other.)
I’d like to point out also that Asmo isn’t even there for most of season 1 too. Which can give you the idea that maybe he just was out sleeping around a lot, but to me he probably just went out partying a lot. You don’t get known that fast for sleeping around. Maybe in 5,000 years, sure, but I’d imagine being a party boy, as his Devilgram “Guided by Desire” suggests.
Tumblr media
So the idea that Asmo isn’t in the house a lot because he’s out having sex all the time isn’t true is it? He’s probably just out partying, which can LEAD to sex with someone sure, but again, Asmo doesn’t feel comfortable doing that, now does he?
I feel like of all the boys, Asmo is the one who radiates with everyone else the most. Most people will never realize how surreal it is that Asmo is faking it until he makes it. He doesn’t always think he’s beautiful, or that he’s worth all the love he’s striving and straining to get. Something that is extremely relatable for a lot of people with self-worth issues. Asmo is just like that, but instead being sarcastic and self-deprecating, he simply works to make himself look as beautiful as possible, so that in his eyes, his beauty matches the affection he gets.
Which is why, when he falls in love with you, it’s strange. You are constantly telling him he’s nice and pretty, but you aren’t lusting after him. You’re just being nice. It may just be me, but when people are overly nice just for the sake of being nice, I’m very attracted to that. That is Asmo, to some extent. The fact that he reflects the insecurities and habits of others so clearly may make others uncomfortable, but that brutal honesty veiled behind insecurity is what a lot of people with self-image issues deal with.
Now for me to share my favorite personal idea for Asmo that completely changed how I saw him in season 1 onwards; Asmodeus is an empath. Now let me explain:
First, what is an Empath?
The term empath comes from empathy, which is the ability to understand the experiences and feelings of others outside of your own perspective. Seems simple, right? Everyone can do this to some extent. However, what makes you an empath is the fact that empaths genuinely feel the same pain as you do. So much so your experience becomes a very personal part of their own. They are capable of being able to feel other people’s emotions without them speaking, or even showing signs of it through their body language.
This would explain, for me personally, why there’s so little of him in season 1. The intensity of what goes on in the house, his sensitive soft-spoken mannerisms, the only time he truly gets mad is when he’s childishly arguing with Mammon? Asmo is afraid of true conflict, he’s afraid of violence and negative emotions. Let’s face it; everyone is indifferent or hates you at the start of the game.
While this changes fairly quickly, all the intense feelings come to a head in chapter 16. All those negative emotions swirling around, of course Asmo isn’t going to want to be in the house when it’s that intense. The attic didn’t just disappear completely, too. Belphie was still in the attic hating humans. That negative emotion could be affecting Asmo and he didn’t know why, so he could have been out of the house more.
Where Asmo can feel the emotions of others, it may mostly be the negative ones because they fill him with anxiety and panic if it persists. Which can be helpful in making him so urgent to want to make others smile and feel better, right?
Imagine being intimate with Asmodeus, and suddenly you aren’t in the mood for it anymore but don’t want to make things awkward. He could pick up on it in an instant and wouldn’t get mad because he understands how you feel completely.
Now to close this out about something that genuinely hurts me; Asmodeus is a narcissist.
I mean, the wiki says that he is, but personally? No, no he isn’t. Since when is loving yourself a bad thing? Sure he may go a bit far sometimes, but people with self-image issues need to go a little harder than the rest to make sure they're getting the love they need.
(Talking about myself AGAIN, but I do this a lot. At random, I will look up in my own mirror in front of my desk that I sit in front of all day and tell myself I am a cute bitch. I am VERY VERY cute and anyone would be lucky to have someone as drop dead gorgeous as myself. I say that a few times a day. In reality, I am very insecure about my looks. I do believe I’m cute, but sometimes it’s hard to say it. Which is why I force myself. Why wouldn’t Asmo do the same?)
Talking yourself up to be as beautiful as a sex god is no easy task, but Asmo isn’t the Avatar of “Lust” for no reason. When an insecure girl talks up her beauty, it’s her being strong and independent. When Asmo does it, its narcissism… it doesn’t really seem fair, now does it? Maybe he’s just an insecure person who needs to tell himself ALL THE TIME that he’s beautiful. That if he stares at his reflection long enough, he may see it too.
(Also, Simeon literally calls him out on being insecure. Insecure people tend to try and overcompensate where they feel they’re lacking.)
”Asmodeus is hinted to be insecure and seeking for love and attention. When Simeon was asked about what he thought of Asmodeus, he says that Asmodeus is still trying to fulfill the role of the angel he used to be; an angel that was adored and loved by many. Asmodeus laughs at Simeon's remark and brushes it off by saying that he is only jealous.” - A section from said Asmodeus Wiki.
People can choose to love or hate Asmo, obviously. Making things up about his character without having anything but speculation and having that dictate how he acts is plain silly. This entire “essay” if you can call it that, comes from the heart. I love Asmo as a character, and in the beginning he did make me uncomfortable, I didn’t like him that much. But I learned to look past that and figure out why he acts the way he does. Something didn’t sit right with me about him for a while, and it was that air of insecurity that I didn’t see at first.
All I can really ask for, is giving Asmo another chance as a character. He’s not as wild and wacky as Mammon, or as cool and sexy as Lucifer, or as edgy and precious as Belphie, but he matters in this story too. He fell from grace with his brothers for Lilith. Give him another chance, and let him show you that he is the Avatar of Love.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Tumblr media
Part One:
The Beginning
Tumblr media
Somehow, it felt like the fates didn’t think much of you.
You were lucky enough to be the youngest soul inducted into the Stela Consulate — your untimely death on your home planet was a quiet, humble affair. The fates took you young, by sickness; your family mourned, then moved on. Your parents grieved for longer, but then they too moved on with their lives.
Fate had a larger destiny in store that what Earth could have afforded you; or, at least you thought before...now.
“Stela Treis, I...Earth cannot be my assigned domain.”
The following silence in the room was palpable. Above you was what looked to be a seat made of live stars, gaseous and glowing. The platform below it was an endless black, along with the surrounding room.
You had just seen the stars from this same “chair” slowly spread across the now dark platform, your body seated atop it just moments before. The Stela Council had observed quietly as countless galaxies traversed beneath their feet, beneath your feet. You’d waited for this moment for what you felt, and were told, was your entire existence. You felt as if you were human again, insecurity and discomfort culminating into a massive pit in your stomach. You were convinced that if you could have, you would have shat yourself.
Whenever a new stela sat atop that chair, the fates mapped their destiny...and subsequently, the destiny of their star domain. You felt as if you had become one with the universe, the powers that be imbuing you with strength and purpose.
Your purpose.
Was...Earth?
The pretty blue object before you certainly looked familiar, the green colored earth standing out proudly. This unassuming planet was where you’d come to be, thus your learnings were centered around it’s history. Earth was not yet to the level of requiring an assigned stela as it has not reached the level of interfering with other cosmos; interplanetary travel within their own solar system was still far out of reach, for Fate’s sake! So how could your homely little birthplace have put itself on the map after billions of years of not even being a blip on the radar?
And smack above it was a brilliant green star. The North star had turned green.
“Head Stela Treis. That cannot be a - an unlucky star! Above Earth! How did I even get Earth?! Isn’t the likelihood of being assigned your home planet like one in a -- a -- an impossibility?!”
The blasted woman continued to ignore you, staring fixedly at the North star — Polaris. There were many iterations of the importance of the North star in Earthling history, but they all had the same general concept and meaning for what the star represented:
Home. A Guiding Light.
And such a symbol was currently heralding the dark days.
“Stela (Y/n),” Stela Treis began slowly.
This damned woman actually used your name, your actual name with your title, and your heart finally sunk to the floor. Stela (Y/n). You were Stela (Y/n) of fucking Earth with a goddamn green star hanging above it --
“Stela (Y/n) of Earth. This is your mission,” she continued.
Every eye in the room was on Treis, the massive throng of alarmed voices quieting down. Your heart was nearly beating out of your chest, and you were sure your face was a picture of horror. No new stela had ever taken over a green star before; it signaled the end of days for a domain and was nigh impossible to get rid of. Stelas who have had a history of leading turbulent domains to an unprecedented era of peace are generally reassigned green star domains -- much more seasoned and powerful stelas than you. And even amongst those figures, only a tiny amount across countless systems have actually succeeded in rehabilitating such a star. Darkness wins far more often, enveloping those systems in black holes, stellar explosions and obliteration.
It was a glorious thing to save a green star, but if you failed…
“Earth is in...trouble. I cannot yet tell what of, as the coming ominous lies beyond the domain still. It’s origin star has turned green, but there’s also a few more stars in your domain that concern me.”
Hearing Earth officially called your domain made you want to puncture your own eardrums in annoyance, but the serious look on Treis’ face and the clear discomfort of the councilmembers surrounding her made you swallow your indignation and elect to glare at the floor instead.
You’d spent your entire existence once inducted into the consulate learning the conflicts of Earth - something about learning on home ground and how it prepared you for your own domain some day. And now that day has come, and you learn that you’re going to be stuck in the same exact place?
It may be willful, but you were eager to prove yourself capable like every other accomplished stela. This included establishing yourself and your influence in new territory, your territory. The glory of your domain would rise and fall with you.
You had wanted to prove yourself, but this…
This terrified you.
The moving of the constellations beneath your feet once again snapped you out of your train of thought, the stern voice you’d previously been drowning out floating into your ears once again.
“This particular star seems to have been the beginning of it all. And even more peculiar is what it’s attached to -- or what’s attached to it,”
Treis had brought the map deeper into your star domain, finally stopping on a bright red star.
“Is that a star of misfortune?!” you shriek. Your eyes are wide as saucers, and normally you’d melt under the looks of disapproval you were receiving but right now you were too stunned to care. A bloody star of misfortune was the cause of all of this, one person! That was the brightest red you’d ever seen on a star, and you’d seen the stars of plenty of terrible figures in history.
The deep frown on Treis’ face said it all, the woman walking forward until she stopped right in front of you. She stared you dead in the face, placing her arms behind her back before responding.
“That is the star of Lucifer Morningstar.”
The hall burst into noise once again as voices started to raise and people clamoured over each other. Shouts of dissent rang out as everyone in the room voiced their opinions.
How could this have happened?
She’s not ready!
That entire domain is doomed!
Fate has abandoned them.
Disapproval was clearly the common theme the council had decided on, but you were too distracted with the prior revelation to properly acknowledge it.
Lucifer Morningstar had a fated star.
The fucking Devil.
Every soul was born with a fated star. Your star was fate’s marker on you. The only beings without fated stars were celestial beings and the Others - beings who operated outside of the universe’s workings. How celestials came into existence exactly was a mystery. Stelas generally believed it was the power of faith, though. In even looser, and probably more correct terms: ‘believe, and it certainly exists.’ Faith was a medium that didn’t operate within the confines of fate. Major celestials bore from Earth include any figure that has been immortalized via faith. Once borne of the world, they operate entirely on their own and outside of fate. An extreme example would be the elusive figure the humans frequently call God -- the current most powerful example of a celestial born from faith. These can even influence the fate of those in their domain.
This goes to say, even if Earth was not particularly advanced, a stela would have still been assigned to oversee it. But humans are passionate and complicated and a lot more stubborn than most races, which meant an unusual abundance of celestial beings were born from there. Because they operate outside of fate’s laws, their domains are usually hidden from the Constellation Map. This is the first time since humanity appeared on Earth that the planet has been seen on the map, a momentous occasion.
And it was assigned to a newbie like you.
“How on...earth did Lucifer Morningstar get a star? Shouldn’t that be impossible? He’s a celestial, he doesn’t have a tangible soul,” you exclaim.
“He didn’t.” she corrected. “But now…” she gestured to his star as you stared dumbly at the bright red light between you. After focusing your gaze, you can just make out a dim, faintly flickering light at the corner of it.
“Is that someone’s star?” you ask softly, moving closer. The star was barely visible, as if all the lifeforce had been drained from it. The red light from Lucifer’s star nearly made you overlook the pale white glow this one gave off, the two being infinitely close.
“This is the star of a regular person, isn’t it? Why does it seem attached to Lucifer’s? And its lifeforce seems young but very, very weak…” you trailed off. Something about this star called out to you, intense feelings of pity and nurturing washing over you. Your instincts wished to nurse this star, this person, back to the bright light you just knew it would have been. You can tell a lot about a person through their fated star, and you didn’t need to look too deeply to tell that this one was special. So how did it end up in this position?
“You are going to find that out,” a sharp voice rang out. You didn’t bother finding its source, beyond irritated with the situation already. This was the first time another councilmember had spoken this entire time, and you resisted the urge to roll your eyes back into your skull. They were criticizing your ability only moments before, but now expected you to play detective to a catastrophe caused by an actual celestial being?
“They are right. For now, this is still your assigned domain, and the fates must have had a reason for it. You are to find the source of this issue, starting with Lucifer. Have a word with him; we will project you to his location.”
“Before my ceremony?!”
“Will will arrange the details of your ceremony later. Until then, we shall deliver you directly to your destination.”
This was not how your domain assignment was supposed to go, you thought bitterly.
It was no secret how shitty you felt about the situation, but the heavy looks of distrust the rest of the council members were sending you as you approached the center of the Constellation Map had you seething. They didn’t believe you could handle it, hell, you didn’t believe you could handle it! But…
You were always a prideful thing.
At the beckoning of Stela Treis, you slowly reached your hand out before you to touch the bright red star in the center of the room. As reality warped around you, you heard warbled words of encouragement leaking through before everything went black.
And then, all you saw was RED.

How MC hurts the brothers
Ask: Hmm I'm not sure for how many brothers you write but could I get headcanons about how the brothers would get angry at their s/o? Like what would hurt them and how would they deal with it? If you don't want to it's fine🙆🏻‍♀️
Genre: hmm i guess angst? But not really. Comfort
Pairing: Headcanons, all.
Notes; thank you for your request love!! I have to be honest, i was a bit confused on how to go about this, so i hope this does it justice!
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*:・゚✧*:・゚✧・゚: *✧・゚:*・゚✧*:・゚✧ : *✧・゚✧・゚
Lucifer
* So, the main issue in any relationship would be how much work be takes on. He's always busy, or has something that needs to be done.
* This can go 2 ways.
* He can either be super hurt when MC tries to dump him, so he tries to change thing: a little, make more time for them, or talk to Diavolo. (He won't talk to Dia.)
* OR. MC can talk to Diavolo. Lucifer will pretend he doesn't know but, he does. His pride won't let him thank MC.
* He really likes having MC near him, just in the same room while he works. He's content.
* He gets angry when MC blows up, or comes at him on offense. If they come at him accusatory, his prideful self will shoot right back, and he probably will say some hurtful things.
* However if MC has a sit down, like "we need to talk," and then "I just feel like you've been so busy and we haven't had time together..." He is way more likely to feel guilty and want to fix things, and will take active steps to fix the issue so he doesn't see his love cry.
Mammon
* Mammon will be super hurt if MC ever insults him.
* "You can't do anything right" or any name calling.
* MC is the one person who has never called him names/insulted him, so if they ever do, he'll break down.
* When they say something, his first reaction is disbelief. Then he'll shout back, say something about how MC is like everyone else.
* Genuinely will need some time to recover, maybe a couple weeks, even after MC has apologized
* He needs lots of reassurance, love, and attention.
Leviathan
* The easiest way to hurt Levi is to joke about how dating him was a joke. Or to call him a name. Or talk about how you're leaving Devildom. It will really set him off.
* Immediately ignores MC, will not look them in the face.
* Completely stoic. "It's best if you leave now then."
* Immediately breaks down when MC leaves. He is terrified of being abandon and the fact that he has so many feelings for them and is so attached, terrified him. So for MC to go back home, why should they date when he can get more attached.
* Probably does something destructive during his breakdown, and then when MC comes back bc LOUD noice, he's sobbing, mid panic attack on the floor.
* Just hold him for a while and love on him, do some deep breathing with him.
* Once that's over, a long talk about what will happen when MC leaves, if they want to come back, if they, maybe, want to stay.
* Genuinely contemplating life in the human world. MC should probably stay in DD.
Asmodeus
* Probably starts when MC gets fed up with his self love.
* OR. MC is worried Asmo would cheat on them,,, and then Asmo is very upset.
* Initially believes that its about him, and his sin.
* Will avoid MC for a while, wallowing in self pity and self care. Cries while doing his nightly face mask.
* Needs a sit down and validation. Needs to know that MC is more so insecure, and that it isn't his fault.
* Feels bad but also has always done his best to make sure MC knows that they are his one and only, even if he is a bit flirtatious once in a while.
* Also tries to lessen his flirting, unless MC is okay with it.
Satan
* The most likely way he'll get hurt is when MC is scared of him.
* (Which, MC should be. He is a demon, of wrath. He needs to feel these negative emotions in order to work on them.)
* Thinks MC believes everything his brothers say, and how they have only dated him out of pity. Knows its not true but also is not really in his right mind.
* Has a whole downward spiral about how he will never be good, never be able to fix things and just won't be able to have a stable love life because of his anger.
* Firstly, he needs space. MC needs to leave him alone, let him stew and for his anger to run out of fuel. He would never hurt MC. Ever. But he will probably yell at them.
* After space, he needs love, reassurance. He needs to know that MC WANTS him. He needs to be wanted and known that he is him, not anyone else.
* Next, he's going to need a long talk. What should MC do when he's angry? What does MC need from him? He'll need a lot of explaining, because he isn't used to the actual conversation like this.
Beel
* Honestly is not super easy to upset.
* He can get a little sad, but he won't really get "angry" unless food is involved.
* It will probably someone else who insults him, or hurts his feelings.
* Honestly will just need some love and reassurance from MC, and maybe his brothers.
* He honestly gets over things quick, but will feel super guilty for a long long time if he hurts anyone elses feelings. He loves MC, and he is confident that they love him too.
Belphie
* Will definitely be hurt if MC calls him lazy, or gets angry at him for sleeping.
* Probably needs a sit-down talk instead of MC just "yelling" at him.
* Will be stoic, needs space to sleep. And recoop.
* He'll need MC to apologize before he is ready to have a sit-down talk. Realizes MC didn't mean it, and it was just out of anger but he's definitely still upset.
* Tries to be less "lazy" but doesn't do a great job of it. Will need love and affection to get over it, but will forget about it in a week or two
* Probably also needs time to wallow in self pity. Just let him be sad for a bit.

Mazikeen and the Importance (and Frustration) of Sub-Plot Characters
Looking over Lucifer Season 5a and the frustration fans are feeling toward the writers’ treatment of Mazikeen has me thinking about the role of subplot characters. More than any other reason, Mazikeen exists in the Lucifer universe in order to be a foil for our titular character, and that is why when we see Lucifer rise, Mazikeen falls.
--- Warning: Spoilers For Season 5a ---
According to The Anatomy of Story: 22 Steps to Becoming a Master Storyteller by John Truby, there are four main types of characters that populate every story: the hero (or protagonist), the opponent (or antagonist), the ally, and the subplot character. These characters can be further differentiated by adding in second or third opponents, a fake-ally opponent, or a fake-opponent ally. The more complex the story, the more characters that are needed to populate it, and the more often characters change or overlap in their duties; for example, in Lucifer Amenadiel, Linda, Charlotte, Dan, and Eve flip between being allies and opponents depending on whose side they are on, which is usually determined by what they know and dependent on whose character POV we are seeing them from, generally Lucifer’s. From Lucifer’s perspective, Chloe can be an ally one moment and an opponent the next for the same reasons, and vice versa.
So what, exactly, is a subplot character? According to Truby,
The subplot character has a very precise function in a story, and again it involves the comparative method. The subplot is used to contrast how the hero and a second character deal with the same problem in slightly different ways. Through comparison, the subplot character highlights the traits and dilemmas of the main character.
--
Before moving on, let’s examine Mazikeen’s arching story lines over the years:
Season 1: Maze is disdainful about the changes Lucifer appears to be undergoing; Lucifer is curious and takes steps to seek out what might be causing it. She consistently goads and riles him up to be the Lord of Hell she desires him to be, but her actions have a way of backfiring and pushing Lucifer toward further emotional development. As a result, she teams up the opponent (Amenadiel) against Lucifer.
Season 2: Lucifer’s mother enters as the opponent. Maze maintains her stance against her as Lucifer begins to befriend her. Mazikeen begins the process of developing emotional connections (notably with Trixie and Tribe Night), eventually moving toward allying with the opponent to spare Lucifer’s feelings, but becomes a temporary opponent toward him when she feels abandoned/wrong by his thoughtlessness. When the opponent threatens those she cares about, her actions ally with Lucifer’s (predominately in saving Linda’s life).
Season 3: Mazikeen sets out to discover her true self away from Lucifer. Amenadiel and Linda’s burgeoning relationship threaten Maze’s abandonment issues. She begins to demand more respect and care from Lucifer and others. When she doesn’t receive it, she desires to return to Hell. When that is denied her, she teams up with the opponent (Pierce/Cain) in order to get what she wants. Her emotional growth prevents her from taking further action, and she is allied with Lucifer once more.
Season 4: Linda’s motherhood story line brings up Mazikeen’s feelings about her mother and subsequent abandonment, causing her to project her insecurities onto Linda. As a result, she tries to discover her identity outside of the friendship, culminating in a desire to have a relationship with Eve. When Lucifer treats Eve badly, Maze teams up with her desire to have Lucifer return to Hell with Eve as his Queen, resulting in their switching over to become Lucifer’s opponent. When Eve’s desires threaten Linda’s well being, Maze returns as allied to Lucifer and helps defeat his opponent.
Season 5a: in an attempt to distract herself from both Lucifer and Eve abandoning her and Linda’s focus on Charlie, Mazikeen works with Chloe in Lucifer’s stead. When that backfires, she lashes out and learns that Michael is masquerading as Lucifer. Though her anger at Lucifer causes her to contemplate aligning herself with Michael (the opponent), her ultimate refusal causes Michael to turn on her. When Lucifer’s return and Michael’s reveal about Lilith brings up her abandonment issues, she projects it onto Linda’s motherhood, attempts to reconcile her problems by imitating Ella, then ultimately decides to team up with Michael in the hopes of him giving her her own soul. When Michael goes “a step too far” in threatening her established relationship with Chloe, she turns on him and allies herself with Lucifer once more.
--
The fan’s frustration comes from Mazikeen’s story lines feeling repetitive, which they are. She begins and ends allied with Lucifer, but at some point switches to being allied with the opponent.
However, each story line develops and challenges her emotional/character-driven issues in the same way that Lucifer’s are developed and enforced. Lucifer, too, backslides in his development and behavior, but the difference is that he is the protagonist and therefore is unable to side with the antagonist in an effort to get what he wants, because that would make the antagonist an ally. When it appears the antagonist is doing what Lucifer wants--Mum leaving of her own accord and Cain dying--these actions are taken because Lucifer has won the battle he set out to fight, making him the hero victorious.
Mazikeen is, essentially, one step behind Lucifer in terms of character development. Her role in season 1 was most similar to his opponent, and from that point on she is relegated with “chasing” him. Lucifer has also projected his issues onto someone else, desired to return to Hell, desired to feel wanted and needed in his job, imitated a coworker, felt threatened by others’ developing emotional connections without him, and so on.
The difference between Lucifer and Mazikeen’s development, however, becomes most stark at the end of each season.
Lucifer wins, but Mazikeen loses.
How so?
Season 1: Lucifer saves Chloe and Trixie, is brought back to life by his father, and sends the bad guy to Hell. Mazikeen uses her one ticket back to Hell to save Amenadiel’s life.
Season 2: Lucifer’s sends his mother away peacefully, reconciles with Chloe, and decides to move forward with the truth. Mazikeen’s final shot is of her unsure and in tears watching her loved one (Linda) bloodied and badly beaten being wheeled away on a gurney.
Season 3: Lucifer saves Chloe’s life, exacts retribution on those who would harm her, and kills the bad guy. Mazikeen, drugged, bloody, and badly beaten, is told by Linda that emotions are hard and then apologies for her behavior.
Season 4: Lucifer is told by Chloe that she loves him; he returns to Hell to save the lives of everyone he knows. Mazikeen, after defeating the bad guy with Lucifer et all, is told by Eve that there is an emotional connection between them, but it is not enough to keep her around.
Whatever season 5 will ultimately bring may or may not be similar.
But why is this the case?
Truby continues,
The subplot character, like the ally and the opponent, provides another opportunity to define the hero through comparison and advance the plot. The ally helps the hero reach the main goal. The subplot character tracks a line parallel to the hero, with a different result.
(my emphasis)
Mazikeen is consistently denied her heroic, triumphant moment at the end of each arc, because Lucifer gets his. All her heroic triumphs are in relation to Lucifer, not her own character growth. As a result, her character is the most likely to slide back and/or side with the antagonist because nothing she does benefits her in the end.
Despite Lucifer’s arguments otherwise, Mazikeen is still very much his henchman, his lackey, his subplot character.
At their core, Lucifer and Mazikeen share the same weakness: they are fearful of being left by those they care for. Since they approach the problem in different ways, we the audience get to see the pros and cons of each. It is important to note that the subplot character is rarely also the ally, and as a result they are allowed to change between being allied with the hero and opposing him.
It is because of Mazikeen that we understand Lucifer. She is our comparative tool. Her character showed us more about Hell and its dynamics than Lucifer. She showed us what Lucifer could have easily been, and throughout the stories, showed us what Lucifer has consistently grown from. Because of her, we know how far our hero has come. By comparing the two characters, we get to see how much each of them has changed in relation to where they began and where they stand in relation to one another at any given moment.
Mazikeen’s role in important in Lucifer, but it is a subservient one. No matter what arc she is given, the story centers around Lucifer. It is the same with any other character, but because we compare the two more often, her pitfalls are more obvious. I love Mazikeen, but given the way this story is structured, she would be unable to be the protagonist and as such is often left bereft.
The writers can change this by giving her happier endings at the culmination of each season, and the best way for them to do that is to not have to have her crawl her way back into our hearts after needlessly siding with the opponent again.
Give Maze a true happy ending please! Here’s to season 5b, and season 6!
