[24 May 2022] First, I love your demo, your art, god I can't get Ren out of my head since the first time I played. Now my stupid questions. Ren gets asked on the street if he cosplayed Haruko? Since he is a walking cosplay And.... Where do I sign my marriage certificate with Ren?

Ty ty!! ♡ Ren has been stopped maybe 2 or 3 times out in public due to the striking similarities between him and Haruko, but in actuality, he /doesn't/ look 100% like Haruko! He only took the hairstyle and dressing-style aspects of Haruko and ran with it ^^'

For reference; Haruko's design is much more vibrant and his hair is faaaar more fluffier. Plus you have to take into consideration that Haruko is an anime character in Ren's world (whereas Ren is considered human)

If, or when a friend...

Judges you for enjoying/not enjoying a character the "right way"

Constantly belittles, mocks or insults a character you enjoy in a way that is not meant to be teasing or sarcastic

And does not afford you the same courtesy of reserving or preventing themselves from speaking negatively of a character you enjoy, but they do not...

Then they are probably not your friend. Or at least, a very good one.

And if a "friend" ever tries to FORBID you from enjoying, talking about, or even passively liking a character? They are DEFINETLY not someone you should want to be friends with. Life is far too short, and you should love yourself enough to not put up with cop-like behavior from someone who claims to be your "friend".

It does not matter how much older or younger they are than you. It does not matter how long the two of you have been friends. When someone tries to police how you enjoy things, you should take a serious look within yourself and decide if you would find yourself happier if you no longer had to deal with that kind of bullshit.

Because that's what it is.

And on a similar, shorter note, if someone ever tries to apply their self-chosen cut-off point of what they consider "canon" to YOU: tell them they have no right to police you like that.

And the sooner you do it, the better. Trust me on that.

Never give someone the ability to determine what is canon FOR you.

I realize that we’re not entitled to your blog; but you don’t have to be rude about it. I used to be subscribed to your Patreon but had to stop because I could no longer afford it. You’re not the only one who has life going on, and 12 dollars per month isn’t cheap…

Personally, I don't really consider it rude to reply to a request with "No", and express my vexed feelings about the request in the tags of my own blog.

I do think that it's impolite to go onto a person's blog and ask them for free content, especially right after they already posted an ask explaining why they haven't been updating regularly recently.

Nobody is ever required to subscribe to my Patreon, especially not if it's a strain on their finances. But you don't have the right to request chapters from me whenever you please, or imply that my prices are too high, just because you were a patron at one point.

Imagine if this situation was reversed: I sent direct messages to people asking them to please send me 12 dollars because I want it, and then defended that decision by saying that I wrote stories they read in the past, so I deserve their money. Do you see how behavior like that would seem entitled and demanding?

I work hard on my writing. Being badgered for updates when life is already being difficult can be very frustrating and discouraging. That's all I wanted to express in my initial response. I'm sorry that it felt rude to you.

There's this weird phenomenon where the people who are really, really invested in Campaign 3 being The Best try to argue that it's the most closely bonded party. when in fact the absolute strongest material with Bells Hells thus far is them realizing with a shock that they've spent almost three months alternating between "my way or the highway" and smoothing things over to the point that they almost shatter along with Ashton and realize that they absolutely cannot go on a time-sensitive, mission-critical journey to save the world without stopping to take a team-bonding vacation.

And to be clear, this rips, but it feels as though while Campaign 1 and Campaign 2 fans might disagree on their favorite campaigns, they do like their campaigns for what they actually are and simply have different preferences with regards to what kind of story they like. This particular flavor of Campaign 3 fans, and there's a decent number of them, only care about winning on the most kindergarten-ass "all you need is love 🥺" axis (also, shades of the bean-counting/points approach to media analysis) but as a result they put forward an idea of the campaign that's simply not the reality and it's like, do you like Campaign 3? Or do you like the fanfiction version of it you wrote in your head based on the first 10 episodes and into which you have slowly dissolved your brain? There's plenty of valid reasons to enjoy or even prefer the campaign, but it's easily the most dysfunctional party and that's fine!

Today I had one of the great Internet experiences of my LIFE.

So, you know how nowadays, if you search something on Google, it sometimes gives you a sidebar of (purportedly related) previous searches you've entered? Operating, presumably, on the AI myth that a person's Google Searches are ever at all related to each other and meant to be connected?

I was Googling a choir and in the Related Searches:

HISAGI IS A MUSICIAN, CONFIRMED AND VALIDATED BY GOOGLE.

...POTENTIALLY ON THE BASIS OF BEARING PASSING RESEMBLANCE(???) TO DAVID ARCHULETA. BUT GOOGLE CONFIRMED NONETHELESS.

Hisagi, 9th Division Vice Captain? Nah. Hisagi, Seireitei Communications editor? Nah. Hisagi, job-locked-in-before-graduation? Nope. ❌

The next question, of course, being, what kind of music does Hisagi play? I always envisioned his repertoire as being very garage band. Early work influenced by 90s grunge, has trended toward more acoustic noodling because "acoustic solo career" seems more plausible in his mind than finding himself a dummer and a bassist, at minimum.

Ever since this happened I've also been imagining the TYBW OPs as being sung by Hisagi's Band, which has endeared them to me greatly.

But Google seems to think that Hisagi's music is similar to David Archuleta's, which, I mean... let Google cook???

A third option is that Hisagi, despite appearances, is not any kind of rocker at all, but is also not David Archuleta. Because when he came up in the Related Searches, I was actually Googling wildchoir, which is a social justice-focused choir that sings healing music:

PIAAAA oh my gosh, the new UTB chapter ! I swear, I have never re-read something as much as I’ve re-read the Underline series, you’re such a brilliant writer. Every single protagonist has my heart ! And HENTON. Oh my gosh. Haven’t gotten around to reading FFS but I knew the gist of what was going to happen from context clues/your responses to other asks but somehow STILL got surprised. Poor Ef ! I am self soothing with the thought of “Gary and/or Temsen are going to kill him.”

And Faber going missing was a twist I never saw coming ! The poor lad. The build up of Gary thinking about what Faber could do when he got back like providing insight and organising calls, only for the dramatic reveal at the end ? Incredible. Can he hypercompetence himself out of this one, folks ? We’ll see soon enough.

Yeah Michael Henton really speaks differently once he's around Efnisien on his own, which is like, welp. Welp. We have some big, big cliffhangers coming over the next few chapters, that's for sure.

But we also have a few peak alphas who have absolutely had it, and are feeling deep in their murderous instincts right now, so I'm sure it'll all work out. Sort of. Messily, perhaps.
