There is Never A Right Time
Summary:
Jungkook hadn’t thought about the woman he had left for a long time. He had gotten secretly married to her, his judgement clouded under the influence of alcohol,  and all it took was a shadow of distrust to make him abandon her. If the world questioned the sanctity of her character, then the world had to be right. Right? He hoped he was right at least. Because if he wasn’t , he had lost the best thing that had ever happened to him in his life. As he continued to work as a top idol, artist, and entrepreneur time went by. He had other women but they never lasted long in his life. When he attended an award show with the rest of the members, he saw a girl there. Another artist. Definitely someone he knew he had never seen or heard of before. Who was she? Something about her was familiar. Maybe her eyes. And then it struck him, making him go as cold as a corpse. He had seen those same eyes somewhere else alright, in the mirror when he looked at his own reflection every morning.
DISCLAIMER: The character written in this fan fiction does not represent the real Jungkook’s personality or behavior. All of this is fiction.
WARNING: Fic mentions noncon/rape (does not describe it explicitly in this part), please don’t read if this is a trigger.
This series is slated to be a trilogy. Here is PART ONE, hope you guys enjoy. Also, I will be creating a permanent tag-list for all my chubby reader fics, please let me know in comments whoever would like to be a part of that.
  PART 1
The lady stood in front of him and the other members. She exuded a powerful aura, regal and dignified. These qualities were rather an unusual combination for idols, especially Korean idols so he was a little starstruck. Something that was rather unusual for any member of BTS to feel. She couldn't have been more than 18 years old though based on her appearance. The girl must be mixed race because she had very unconventional features for an idol. She had dark thick curly black hair that trailed to her hips and her skin reminded him of strongly brewed milk tea. The even more startling features were her plush lips, a prominent straight nose graced by a diamond stud, and double lidded eyes fringed with what seemed to be thick eyelashes.
She was sporting an unusual outfit as well; a customized skirt and bra set that he only saw gypsies and belly dancers wear. A gold belt adorned her waist sitting lower on her hips with a diamond belly piercing highlighting her lithe , toned figure. He couldn't stop looking at her because strangely enough something about her was familiar.
He made eye contact with her accidentally and what he saw made his heart palpate against his chest. He had seen those same eyes every day of his life in his mirror. Her doe eyes were too similar to his own. They say that eyes are a mirror to the soul, but her eyes were a mirror to his own.
Who was she? He felt a stir of panic as their eyes met and she bowed down low. She was of average height, but her presence seemed to envelope the room since other well known artists,  idols, and staff greeted her politely. The stage director came near her bowing. To Jungkook’s surprise , she spoke in fluent Korean though she seemed to be a foreign artist.
The stage director and the girl were a few feet away from BTS when the stage director exclaimed , “How is your mother doing Cha-ya? She must be worried since you have only promoted up til now in the US, Thailand, and India. Are you having a comfortable time adjusting over here?”
The girl’s eyes lit up in glee as she responded with a little chuckle, “It has for sure been a different experience than the U.S. and India for sure. The stage is so organized and everything is so close by for promotions. I am enjoying it to the max. Mom told me to eat well and sleep 8 hours a day. You know how doctors are like. She’s constantly checking in on me to see if I am stressed out. Saiyan and Arang are also being such worrywarts since this is the first time I’ve been here.”
The stage director continued in mild surprise, “Are they your brothers? I thought you were an only child ?”
She guffawed in a cacophonous fashion which made several idols and artists look her way, in awe and confusion. Jungkook thought that she was a rather different type of artist. Very uninhibited by social norms. Clearly she had not been brought up in Korea.
“Director, we are actually triplets but both of them were born a few minutes ahead of me so they insist that they are my older brothers. We are very tight knit and they will be coming to visit soon. Saiyan is a pretty popular model right now and so he will be finishing his Engineering degree at Washington State and rush over here for Seoul fashion week. Arang on the other hand finished his MBA/Medicine dual degree, so he will be managing a chain of Health and Wellness Resorts over here. “
The director’s jaw slid open in an exclamation. He sputtered in disbelief, “ How are all of your siblings so well studied and managing jobs like that? You must be the only sibling purely in entertainment.” The girl deliberated for a second before responding, “Mom made sure we all had solid educations before pursuing these types of careers. She is always skeptical of fame, and she brought us up to be extremely disciplined, stable, and loyal individuals. I am actually finished with my course in Law (focus in international law) ,but currently all that is stalled for the time being because of my activities in entertainment.”
As Jungkook was hearing this conversation along with the other artists in the room who were curiously eavesdropping as well, the Director continued in awe, “Your mother seems to be an extremely strong lady. I knew she was a doctor  who seemed extremely rich and well off, but she must literally be a goddess to give birth to such high achieving kids. What about your father, what does he do?”
Cha-ya scoffed with a quizzical, somewhat bitter look, “He actually left her before we were even born. We found out who he was when we all finished college. Our mother made sure our upbringing was never lacking. We saw him a lot on the Korean and world news growing up but never knew that he was our dad. You know,  he is someone whose popularity never fades strangely enough. He sold his soul for fame, so it is to be expected perhaps.” The director looked so intrigued and invested as he prodded for more info, “ Who is he? Definitely we would know who he is? Is he a singer, actor, businessman in the industry over here?”
Cha-ya’s entire expression became rigid and mask-like as she replied in what seemed to be a disinterested tone, “ We do not consider him our dad, so neither my brothers, nor I would like to claim him. He was a sperm donor. That is the long and short of it. Who he is, is as irrelevant as what today’s weather forecast is. He betrayed my mother and trusted the world over her. She went through so much pain just to be by his side. And when she thought the pain would end, he left her. I have to be on stage, so if you will excuse me now Sir.”
She side stepped the director and went closer to the entrance of the main stage. Jungkook could feel the bile and vomit rising to his mouth. She had been pregnant when he had left her? He had three kids, that he never knew anything about? This grown beautiful artist was his daughter?And he had two more accomplished sons?  His parents had grandkids? And how the hell did she brith triplets?!! Wouldn’t her vagina tear ??????!!!
His world was crashing down on him as the rest of BTS stared at him with stark grief painted across their faces. They all remembered her name, it was unforgettable.
Before he could process anything, he heard the booming noise starting up on the stage. Wait, wait up a minute! This track was the most popular pop/ rock release of the year all over the US. He saw his daughter he never knew he had on stage in an elaborate headdress dancing with precision and fluidity on stage. She had no backing track, the other idols could tell. This was live. Only one artist sang with no backing track in all her performances this year in the US. She was on MTV and all other award shows, becoming sensational, l hitting all headlines for singing with no backing track usually acapella . Shadow, that was her romanized name, but in all Asian countries she went by Nee-Da.
She had risen to the top for the past 3 years for her herculanean work ethic , creative marketing/business acumen. She was known for her cutthroat ruthlessness in the music industry, mostly aided by the fact that her mother was known to own and manage the world’s most innovative new security system, Poison. He did not know what to be more shocked about at this point? How could he not have recognized her? Seeing her in real life was different from seeing her on stage with all the makeup and ornamentation on.
She was the pop-star of the era, a business mogul with a net worth of close to 300 million dollars at such a young age due to her clothing and makeup line. She was his daughter. How could this even be possible? Jungkook could feel his identity crisis coming. How did he birth the most iconic popstar of this generation, who as of now hated his guts? What scared him even more was the realization of who her mother was.
The lady he had left, the woman he could never forget even in his dreams was her mother. And her mother owned the world’s scariest personal security company, Poison. The company had revolutionized personal security by founding a bracelet and many other gadgets that created magnetic repellant force fields around individuals. It was notorious for being marketed only towards woman and could only be activated when the device recognized the XX chromosome, so the device would never protect men.
Basically, women all around the world who had these devices now had a programmable magnetic forcefield around them which shielded them from the outside world. Firearms, Tasers, and aggressors were all repelled by this technology. Women could safely walk out in the middle of the night as long as they had a device, which was continuously made affordable at its very inception by the reclusive owner of the company.
With this  technology ,the owner instantly became the most powerful business woman, icon, feminist, that the world knew. That is in fact all the world knew. That she was a woman. But nobody knew anything else about her, she was an elusive person who didn't show up to most media events. Her personal motto was that the products advocated for themselves. Her financial officers and other company higher ups showed up in the media, but she never did. Most people in the world didn't even know how this woman looked like, because of how reclusive she was.
All people knew was that she was Cha-ya’s mother and that she had two other kids.
What Jungkook got to know that made him almost go into a stroke was the sheer fact that Cha-ya’s mom was his Y/N. The one whose heart he had broken years ago.
Y/N was a billionaire of gargantuan proportions, a net worth that made his look like chump change.  His daughter was the iconic popstar of the century, someone whose craze and popularity surpassed his own in his heyday. Which meant that his son Saiyan was the new model who had just walk in Paris Fashion Week as the face of Armani. The same one that Jimin’s daughter had raved about the other day. Which meant that his son Arang became the CEO of the exclusive wellness resort, Ellysium , a resort only catered to the richest of the richest. All this calculations overwhelmed Jungkook to the point that there was only one reasonable outcome. He fainted.
He woke up to the sound of his members whispering in anxious voices to one another. “Do you think he can handle this right now?” Jin asked Namjoon. “I have no clue bro, I mean he hasn't seen her in years and the last time he saw her, he treated her so badly that even I felt ridiculously hurt for her” Namjoon sighed in a rather morose tone of voice. Hoseok scoffed as he seethed,  “Do you think she will even acknowledge him after all he had done to her? Jungkook left her to face a whole media circus alone while he impregnated her when he was inebriated, mind you. Then, to top it all of with a cherry he not only remembered nothing of the process, but she found him shagging a whole different girl the next day. Do you think that you would forgive actions as heinous as those”?
Jungkook felt dizzy as he struggled to sit up on the sofa. Jimin rushed to him with a frown on his face and worry painting his eyes, “You doing okay Kookie? Are you alright staying here for the rest of the award show, or do you want to head back home?” Still dazed from his fall, Jungkook responded pensively, “No it’s alright. I just need to catch my bearings and I can be there for the rest of the show”. Before the rest of the members could stop him Yoongi spit out bitterly, “You say you are okay attending the show. But are you sure you really want to? Cha-ya’s mother will be in attendance, flying out to see her babygirl win an award. You sure you can handle that Jungkook”?
Jungkook felt his heart racing, panic overtaking his mind. How could he face her? He had wronged her in so many ways? How could he show his miserable face to her after the way he had ruined her life? Y/n was never even his girlfriend or fiancé at the time. But, he had compromised her in the worst way possible and then had not even remembered his mistake the day after. She had paid for his mistakes by bearing children and caring for them when he had not even known they existed. Even if he had known , it was questionable whether he could've done anything signifiant. He had been embroiled in multiple scandals and caught in alcohol addiction during that phase of his life. He was living wild and no way would he have been a sober, or healthy father to his kids.
With the help of a few assistants , the group slowly trudged towards the celebrity seating quadrant of the award show venue. Cha-ya was up on the stage receiving the award for Most Streamed Artist from the hands of a veteran Korean actress. As Jungkook watched his daughter---as strange as it felt to say those words, receive the award with a blinding smile on her face, he felt his chest hurt. What type of crime had he committed in his previous life that he didn't even get to see his girl grow up? She was beautiful, sharing so many of his features, his bulbous nose, doe-like eyes, and rounded face.
She resembled him more than she resembled her mother. And before anyone could even expect it Cha-ya spoke into the microphone, “I thank everyone at VEX entertainment for helping me get to where I am today. I would also like to thank my staff and all the people behind the scenes who have pushed me to this position. I hope to make all of you proud. None of this would be possible without all of you”. She took in a deep breath as she announced, “But, most importantly I have to thank my mother. She brought me up to be the strong woman that I am today. She worked so hard to give us everything and never left us lacking. We never felt the absence of a father because she is both to me and to my brothers. I would like to call her up on stage, so I can dedicate this award to her. Please mom, come up on stage”.
Everything was moving too fast around Jungkook as he breathed in shallow pants. He felt like he was breathing too fast and his brain was not functioning. He felt paralyzed. Stuck. But he couldn't even catch his breath when he saw the mother of his children sweep into the area where he and the members sat. He could barely recognize the bold woman he was looking at. She looked lethal, powerful, untouchable ---the direct opposite of what she had been, a warm approachable girl.
She was draped in a blood red shimmering sari crafted with gold thread, an ensemble exposing a massive fire breathing dragon tattoo overarching the entirety of what seemed to be her left hip barely reaching to her belly button . The dress was close to backless with just a red resolute thread holding the top sleeveless jacket in place. You could tell she worked out, but she had all the feminine curves befitting a woman, a rounded stomach hidden by the shadow of the sari covering her modestly. Her face was covered with black sunglasses and she adorned her wrists with plain gold bangles, her neck laced with a simple gold chain.
She walked onto the steps leading to the stage in blood red heels as the entire celebrity section of the audience got a view of her back and tattoo. The lady was arresting to look at--all the way down from her aura to her body to her attire.
Y/N walked up to her daughter with arms opened, hugging the girl on stage with all the warmth that you would expect a mother to have for her child. A smile as radiant as a sunrise obliterated Y/N’s face as she spoke into the mike, “I am so proud to be here today to see my baby girl receive this award. She has worked so hard and all her efforts have come to fruition today. Thank you for allowing me to be on stage to celebrate this award with her”.
Both mother and daughter walked off the stage hand in hand as one of the MC’s for the award show started to walk up the stage. Collective gasps rang through the aisles as people saw who the next MC was. It was Saiyan. He had donned a simple Black Armani suit which highlighted just how devastating he looked. He took after Y/N more as he had slightly more defined cheekbones and huge eyes fringed with thick dark lashes to make any woman envious. He hulked onto stage, towering over his mom and sister at a height of 6′3. He laughed and hugged both of them, kissing his mom on the forehead,  and strolled to the mike to present the next award.
Jungkook’s eyes felt like they were about to pop out his head and his head was about to fall off his body. All three of them were on stage looking like such a happy family, radiant and warm. He could tell how much love his kids had for their mother . Y/N kissed Saiyan back on his cheek and walked off stage with Cha-ya in hand, giggling with her. These were all the people who he should've had in his life for years, held closest to his heart, but his poorly made decisions or lack thereof had distanced him from his own flesh and blood.
Blinded by agitation and grief, Jungkook rushed out of the aisles, surprising his members as he absconded backstage to catch hold of Y/N and Cha-ya. But they weren’t alone. Cha-ya and Y/N were inundated by so many stage staff and artists who wanted to welcome them. His gut clenched as he saw all the men eyeing Y/N like she was the tastiest meal they had seen in centuries. He heard Y/N respond graciously to one staff member, “Oh, thank you for loving my outfit. It was designed by an upcoming Thai/Indian designer. She really went over the top with the gold motifs.”
Jungkook couldn't stop himself as he pushed people, shoving past them trying to get to Y/N and his daughter. Staff around him were startled as they saw him wading through the crowd to the center of the room, whispering in shock at his pushy nature. As soon as he got in front of them, he was finally able to process the magnitude of Y/N’s beauty. Y/N was shocked for a mere a second at his sudden appearance and to his great surprise, kissed Cha ya on the cheek walking away from him as she told her, “Baby, mommy will be in your changing room. I have to take care of something”. Cha ya nodded at her mother, her eyes glazing over with a coat of suspicion and bitterness. She bowed stiffly towards Jungkook , “Sunbae, nice to meet you. It is an honor to meet you”. Her eyes took up a hard glint as she saw the rest of BTS filter into the room. She faced them and bowed to all of them, speaking in a lackadaisical tone “It is an honor to meet all of you. I have grown up watching all of you”. Her face did not show interest in engaging with them and she looked at them with a rather disinterested attitude.
“Well I should get going. My mother is waiting for me”, she said as she glided seamlessly out of the room towards her dressing room.
Jungkook felt tears well up in his eyes and anxiety stain his mind as he could see how cold his daughter was being towards him, as though he were a stranger. She had greeted him as though he was just any person on the street, as though they didn't share blood. As though he meant nothing to her. Jimin and Namjoon closed in around him, steering him towards a secluded corner of the room as he started sobbing miserably as though he were not able to breath. His eyes were red, tears flowing down his eyes, wetting his cheeks as he understood the gravity of what sin he had truly committed.
He wiped frantically at his eyes, pushing away from his members as he ran towards Chaya’s changing room. He heard Yoongi scream beyond him, “Jungkook you better get back here! Don’t do this Jungkook, You need to calm down!!” Jungkook could not be reasoned with as he darted towards the room that a surprised staff had pointed at. He arrived in front of the door, barely catching his breath as he knocked in a hurried manner, desperate to speak with the most important people in his life that he had alienated.
Chaya opened the door in a pink satin robe, leaning against the door with a sigh, “I knew you wouldn't be patient. I told mom it was a bad idea for her to fly out. She did anyway knowing that she would have to contend with you.” She sneered as she bit out in a crisp manner, “Well, why don’t you come in Jungkook -sshi? Or will you stay outside and make a circus of our reputation? Funny how you are obsessed with keeping yours, but have no problem blemishing others. You couldn't stay away, could you? You managed to for so many years, but now you fail at what you claim to be best at. Not caring. How juvenile”. She snarked all this at him vindictively as she simultaneously opened the door, gesturing for him to come into the room.
The rest of the members stood outside as she sardonically queried, “Well, would you all grant us some privacy? I am sure we will have Jungkook-ssi out of the room soon enough. It shouldn't be a very long conservation. There isn't much to say anyway.” Yoongi’s eye twitched as he glared in silence at the rude girl who was literally the unexpected niece of all of the members.
She closed the door on their faces.
Inside the room, Y/N sat on the couch surveying Jungkook’s appearance with mild interest. “Why are you here Jungkook? Do you need to say something?”, she calmly asked.  Y/N’s mind whirled in turmoil even as she looked calm on the outside. Why was he in front of them all these years when he himself had shunned her at her weakest moment? Jungkook was hyperventilating as he asked in a cracked voice, “I am not going to ask you the Stu-pid question of whether these kids are mine or not. Because I know that they are all the same age and I can see it in their faces and their mannerisms. They are mine”. He took a deep breath as he felt the panic overtake him, “But why did you never tell me about them? Why did you take me away from their lives. You know how much my mother and father wanted grandkids. Out of everybody in the world, you knew it the best. Why did you deprive me and my parents of them?”
In an infuriatingly placating tone, Y/N responded without a hitch in her voice, “Don’t you remember? You didn’t want anything to do with me because I had apparently betrayed our friendship by being a characterless bitch and luring you into fucking me when you were drunk. Can you not make a quick trip down memory lane? Or has it been too long for you to remember the lurid media details that tore me apart? You may have forgotten but I never will”.
She took a sip of tea as she tapped her nails on her lap, “You wouldn't hear me out when I told you that we had both accidentally gotten married when were drunk. Even though I knew that you never wanted anything to do with me romantically, you still initiated intercourse even as I clearly told you no. I begged you to let go of me. But in your blind livid anger of finding the marriage certificate lying on the couch later that night, you didn't do what most men do. You didn't do the practical thing, which is to rage and get over it. You didn’t tear the certificate and put an end to it there. You decided that I deserved to pay, and you fucked me even as I begged you to not ruin me. But, then again,  why are you asking me all the gruesome details, when you were the perpetrator?”
As Jungkook clutched his head, bending it down in dismay and shame, she quietly drawled, “We could've simply dissolved the marriage. It was not done seriously. It was done in a compulsion, as both of us were under the influence. Influence that you forced down my throat if we are being truly accurate. But, why did you have to ruin my life even when you were in a sober state? What excuse do you have for that? Other than your ridiculously misplaced anger? So you forced me when you were sober, making me pay in the most pitiful manner.”
 She laughed bitterly, eyes bereft of emotion, retreating behind a mask of forced complacency , “You knew, out of everyone else, since you were my friend at the time, that I had never even done it before. But you still treated me more pathetically than a piece of trash on the sidewalk. You degraded me as you violated me, taunting me with the most hurtful epithets known to man. You stripped me of my dignity. Don’t you remember jungkook? Don’t you remember any of it ? If you do, why are you forcing me to re-live it? I had kids, and I moved on from that pathetic, trusting, giving version of myself. You taught me that I must always pay the price for being kind. I will never forget it”.
The torture was too much to bear. Jungkook crumpled off the sofa, onto the floor as he started sobbing, remembering what he had done to her. He remembered how he had hurt her again and again. They had been extremely close friends at the time, and he had ruined their friendship by crossing the line when both of them were drunk. At the time he had loved another girl, one who showed him how disgusting humanity could be. Y/N had warned him against her multiple times when they were friends , but he stupidly enough had stuck onto that girl, having a toxic relationship with her.
When that girl had walked in on Y/N and him, finding the marriage certificate splayed out on the couch, she had broke up with him. In that frenzy of indignation, he had committed the vilest mistake of his entire life. He had forced Y/N, someone with no sexual experience, to suffer. He had degraded her verbally as he had humiliated and forced her. He remembered it as if it were yesterday. He remembered it everytime he looked at his reflection. When the violation was done, she had walked away pitifully, stumbling away from his form as she quietly uttered, “I am sorry for taking away your chance at happiness. You have punished me in a way I can never forget. I will never forget what you have taught me about our friendship. Now I know how much our friendship meant to you. Don’t worry, you will never hear from me again .
As cum and blood had streamed down legs, she had dragged herself out of his house, to go back to her lonely hotel room where she sobbed and cursed at her mother for giving birth to her.  She cursed at god for her sheer existence. She would never trust again. He had damaged her forever.
An hour after she left his house, Jungkook had understood his grievous mistake and told his Hyungs the sin he had committed. They all stared at him in shock as Yoongi started beating him, “Is THIS what we taught you Jungkook? To be a rapist and a miserable excuse of a human being?!” Everyone else stared at him in shock. Namjoon went to Bang PD to ask him to contact their lawyer. What if Y/N launched a lawsuit against Jungkook and the group?
To all their collective surprise, they received news from Y/N’s friend Myrna, a foreign communications director at HYBE, that she had left for the U.S., going back to her home country. She had stopped at a hospital before leaving and handed Myrna an NDA drafted by a lawyer, before leaving, stating that she would not reveal anything that had gone down that day. The NDA also stated that she would like to never be contacted again, and that HYBE would face heavy legal repercussions if they ever attempted to do so. A divorce application form had been filled out and left in a pamphlet as well. All Jungkook had to do to nullify the marriage was to sign off on it”.
Jungkook lived through his memories once again as Y/N smoothed down her dress, “If you would like to get to know the kids, I will not stop you. In fact, I had reached out to your company regarding the kids when they were born. But, I never heard back from them since. I even personally tried contacting you and your members, but none of you ever responded. Regardless, bygones will be bygones. The past is in the past. Cha-ya, Saiyan, and Arang have been brought up to be kind, forgiving individuals. They are not ruthless like their dad. Though they are angry, rightfully so as of now, they will come around and try to get to know you eventually.”
“Now, I will leave the room and allow you to talk to Cha-ya and Saiyan if that is what you wish to do. Arang will be arriving in five minutes”.
As she got up to leave the room, she felt a firm vascular hand wrap around her wrist. She looked back to see Jungkook on his knees, head down, whimpering “I don’t wish to just know my kids. I wish to know the wife I never had”.
Y/N reached to remove his hand off her wrist, “You must not understand what the true definition of the words ‘too little, too late’ mean”.

face time - eris
summary: Things get heated between Eris and his sugar baby over face time.
a/n: I recently saw some modern au pic about the bat boys, and couldn't help myself when it comes to our boy Eris. Also, anything in italics is part of a text conversation.
warnings: sugar daddy/sugar baby relationship, mutual masturbation, swearing
wc: 2,000
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You never thought you would ever go this far when you became a sugar baby. The men before were wealthy, but not stupid rich. So, they were into spending money, but they had limits. That all changed when you met Eris Vanserra.
If someone looked up the definition of ‘old money’, the Vanserra name was bound to pop up. That family had a finger in politics, energy, manufacturing, oil, technology, the stock exchange and more. And at the head of it all: Eris.
What he was doing at your club, you don’t know. It catered to a wealthy clientele, sure. The average person spent a couple hundred to a thousand a night there and that was still some money to spend for them. But to people like Eris, that was change.
You were lucky to be on bottle service that night and not being a bartender. You had worn a short, tight leather skirt and a red lace long-line bra as a top. And on your feet, bright red chunky platform heels. The make-up you had done was dark and smokey, giving you a mysterious look and paired with a bright red lip, you were irresistible.
To Eris at least. You didn’t think he paid a lot of attention to you, beyond the basic male stares you always got. But the next day, you received a phone call from him, asking to meet for lunch, and that he would be willing to pay your fee.
You decided to meet up with him, despite your concerns about how he got your number and knew that you were a sugar baby. He just said, “There are few things that money can’t buy. Information is not one of them.”
And thus began your sugar daddy/sugar baby relationship with Eris Vanserra. You had to sign an NAD and another contract outlining the rules and code of conduct for the duration of the relationship. You were thinking about that code of conduct, and wondering if it included the picture you were about to send him.
He often asked what you were wearing that day. You would send him a picture or short video of your outfit when he asked. He said he loved seeing you in the clothes he bought you.
But today, you had seen the text when you got out of the shower. Normally, you would send him a picture once you got dressed, but your relationship had grown some in the last month, so you were eager to see if he would let you tease him this much.
Eris: Let me see your outfit today, princess.
Y/N: im not wearing much rn
Y/N: still want to see??
The text bubbles popped up and left three times before he responded.
Eris: Let me see.
You darted out of the bathroom and to your dresser. You threw open the drawer that you kept your lingerie in. You rifled through the various scraps of lace and leather till you found what you were looking for. The red long-line bra that you were wearing as a top when you first met and the matching thong. You hastily put it on, hoping Eris wouldn’t get impatient.
It had been a long time since you had taken a sexy photo. You decide to do it in the full-length mirror, standing, twisting your body so that your supple ass was on display and the silhouette of your tits could be seen. It took a few tries to get the angle right, but you finally liked one of the selfies.
You took a deep breath before sending it to him.
Eris: You look divine, Y/N.
Eris: I recognize that top.
Eris: You took that right now, princess?
The flurry of texts caught you off guard. Eris was either a short texter or paragraphs. He only ever texted out of necessity, like when he was at work. Any other time you texted him, he responded with a phone call.
Y/N: yes I took it rn
Y/N: wanna see??
Immediately, a Face Time call from Eris lit up your screen and you answered, laughing a little.
“Someone’s eager this morning, hunh,” you asked, amusement in your voice.
His phone was moving, and you heard a door shut. Eris sighed as he made his way over to his chair and plopped down, relaxing for a rare moment.
“I shouldn’t have asked to see you in the middle of the day,” he rasped. “I can’t think of anything but you.”
“I would apologize,” you said. “But I’m not sorry.”
He smiled. Another rarity. “I know you aren’t, you little minx.”
Eris’ smile faded into seriousness. “Show me more.”
You gave him a seductresses smile and switched the POV of the phone so that it was capturing the mirror with your reflection in it.  You began twisting and spinning, showing off all of you to the mirror, and Eris. You could see his expression darken with each swish of your hips and giggle of your tits.
“Thoughts,” you asked.
You saw Eris swallow, Adam’s apple bobbing near the collar of his shirt.
“You’re stunning, princess.”
“That’s all I get,” you mock pouted.
“You want more, you need to earn more.”
“Fine,” you agreed. “Hold on a second.”
You moved to prop your phone up on the base of the mirror so that you could still see him and see yourself in the mirror. Backing up a few feet from the phone, you gently lowered yourself down on the floor. You were on your knees, butt resting on your feet, and left your hands sitting on your lap.
“Can you still see me?”
“Yes, I can.”
“How do I look,” you asked coyly.
“Still stunning, just on the floor.”
“You’re impossible sometimes, you know that.” you laughed. “What do you want me to do?”
“Open your thighs, princess. Let me see you.”
You paused for a second. You knew another bottle girl who was also a cam girl and she told you stories about this all the time. And you had idea of where it was going. And you decided that it was worth it.
“Like this?” You spread your thighs wide, eager to give him what he wants.
“Good girl, princess. So perfect.”
Your blood thrummed at the praise and heat pooled in your core. Sugar baby or not, you craved the adoration and worship that came along in being with someone who knew how to properly praise their partner.
“What else,” you prodded him. “I’ll do whatever you want.”
“Whatever I want, hunh. Sounds tempting.” When you moved your phone, Eris had moved his so that it was further back on his desk, giving you a view of his whole upper body. He had taken off his suit jacket and rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, leaving his muscled forearms exposed.
“Are you wet, princess?” Eris asked.
“Yes,” you breathed. “Hearing you give me compliments makes me wet.”
“Oh, do you have praise kink, baby?”
You just gave the mirror a sly grin. You dragged your hand up from resting on your thigh, over your belly and breasts, finally finding purchase for it on your neck.
Eris’s gaze had heated to the point where you swore you could fell it from here.
“Do you like being ordered around, too?”
“I’m not opposed to it, provided there are limits.”
“We can talk about that later, princess. For now, pull that scrap of lace you are passing off as panties to the side.”
You didn’t know it was possible to be so turned on. You did as you were told, pulling the crotch of your panties to the side and started circling your clit. The other hand went to the floor for some balance.
“You read my mind princess,” Eris rasped. “Keep going.”
You did. Through the screen, you saw that he had unfastened his pants and now appeared to be palming himself through his underwear, though you couldn’t be sure from the distance you were from your phone.
“Holy hell, princess, just looking at you, sitting pretty like that was getting me hard. I just wanted to watch you, but now I need the release, or I won’t be able to think all day.”
“I like that you -ah- are getting off to me getting off,” you said, trying not to moan the words. “It makes me feel powerful.”
You felt the orgasm building in your core as you continued to rub your clit. This whole situation was an aphrodisiac.
“Finger yourself, baby. Fuck yourself like you would fuck me if I was there.”
You immediately plunged two fingers deep into your core and let you’re a lewd moan at the intrusion.
“That’s it, princess, ride your hand like a good little slut.”
You began moving on your hand. Riding it and grinding your clit down on the muscle of your thumb, creating the most delicious sensation. When you looked at your phone, Eris has taken his cock out and was stroking it in time with your grinds. In every other way, he was still composed. His tie was still fastened around his neck, his hair was styled in place, and he was seated in his office chair. However, his red, hard, throbbing cock was in his hand, and his face was contorted in his painful pleasure of watching you, but not being there physically to watch you cum.
“Eris, I wish this was your hand,” you moaned. And you weren’t lying to get paid, like your cam-girl friend had to do.
“I wish it was your pretty mouth on my cock, not my hand, baby,” Eris gritted out.
That made you ride your hand harder and faster than before, driven by his words.
You glanced up to look at yourself in the mirror. Your still damp hair was wild around you head. Your boobs were bounding with each motion you took, and the sight of you hand disappearing between your legs was intense. You just hoped Eris liked what he saw.
Any doubts about whether or not Eris liked the look of you were cut off when he let out a deep groan from the back of his throat. Even through the phone, the sound went straight to your core.
“Eris, I’m gonna cum,” you cried to the ceiling having dropped your head back.
“Yes, princess,” Eris demanded. “Let me see that that beautiful faces looks like when you find cum for me.”
So you did. You let out a sharp moan and let the waves of pleasure course through your body and you tried to keep riding your hand but couldn’t keep enough focus to.
When the orgasm faded enough that you had the sense to look at your phone, you saw Eris quickly lean forward and rip a tissue from a box on his desk. You crawled forward to watch as he stroked himself to completion. You watched as the pleasure overtook his features, enhancing his undeniable beauty even further.
As you both came down from your respective highs, panting at your efforts, you made eye contact with Eris, and smiled.
“Holy shit, Eris,” you breathed out. “That was amazing.”
“Agreed.”
You both sat there for a few more moments, looking at each other.
“Well, I’ll let you get back to work,” you decided to say, breaking the silence. “Are we still on for dinner tonight?”
“Yes, absolutely,” he said, looking around his office. “I’ll see you later.”
You said your good-byes and hung up.
You picked yourself off the floor, taking the soaked panties and uncomfortable bra off and changed into some sweatpants to do your schoolwork in.
You phone buzzed where you forgot it on the floor.
Eris: How much?
Y/N: that wasnt part of our deal
Eris: ?
Y/N: sex isnt part of our contract so no
payment needed
Eris: We will discuss this later.
Y/N: whatever you want
Y/N: but im not taking any money for it
Y/N: or any gifts
Eris: We will discuss this later.
Y/N: whatever, babes
You would be damned if you were going to get paid for that. You were a sugar baby. Eris was paying for your time, not sexual favors. You had the upmost respect for those who did get paid for sex, but that was not you.
And if Eris tried to make it that way, you would give him hell for it, weather it cost you your position or not.
Sadistic Siblings:
Tag: @the-slasher-madame
Tw: typical slasher gore
It was a typical day in Woodsboro, mundane, boring, and any other synonym you could think of. The weather was perfect, the school maintained its perfect rating and your brother, your dear twin brother was fucking perfect! You sighed heavily as you got dressed in the morning. You slid on a pretty dress and a cardigan.
As you ran down stairs you greeted your father first, as was tradition in you’re average household.
“Morning papa.” You kissed his cheek.
Then you moved over to the stove to greet your mother.
“Morning mama.” Another kiss on the cheek.
And lastly you greeted your brother, who was annoyingly always on time.
“Billy.” You nodded your head towards him.
“Y/N” he nodded back.
“You look lovely today dear, is that the new dress I got you?”
You gave he another nod, not feeling very talkative this morning. But your father frowned.
“I believe your mother asked you a question.”
“Sorry papa, yes mama. Thank you.”
She smiled brightly at you.
“We’ve gotta get going, I’m picking up Sydney before school.”
“Still with the Prescott girl?”
“Yes father.” Billy glared at the back of your old man’s head.
You waved goodbye to your parents as you took your toast to go. You knew you father would complain when you got home but you didn’t much care. You let out a sigh of relief as your brother pulled out of the driveway.
“You aren’t wearing that hideous thing all day are you? Stu will never let you hear the end of it.”
“Of course not.” You scoffed.
You always carried a spare outfit in your backpack. You parents were so traditional they believed women should only wear skirts and dresses not pants. You hopped into the back of the truck and began to change on the floor.
“Really? Do you have to change right there Merc? Gross!” Billy chastised.
“Calm your panties bro, I have my binder on. Besides you act like you’ve never seen tits before.” You joked.
“Yeah, I don’t want to think about my siblings tits fuck you very much.”
You flipped him off from your spot on the floor. You managed to slip into some black ripped skinny jeans, and an old band T-shirt with a flannel you stole from Stu around your waist. You brother had gotten you some boxers he hid in his room when you came out to him as nonbinary.
Of course he always suspected you weren’t a girl. Call it twinitiation. And he had no qualms with it. He didn’t like viewing you as a girl anyways. But of course your parents would throw a fit. You threw of your wig and stuffed everything back into your backpack, before climbing up onto the back seat. Sydney always sat up front but you didn’t mind. There were worse people your brother could be dating.
Billy looked back at you through the rear view mirror and chuckled under his breath.
“How mom and dad haven’t found you out yet with that’s stupid wig, is a miracle.”
“Hey, it’s not my fault they’re stupid, besides, I’m a good liar. We all have a secrets.”
His eyes narrowed dangerously at the road before him at your last sentence. Billy knew all too well about secrets, and he was keeping a big one. Yet somehow he knew your father would be more excepting of his secret than yours. You treated Syd as she hopped into the truck. You didn’t hate her, but you didn’t really like her either. There weren’t many people you liked at the school besides Stu and your brother. And of course, your best friend!
As you walked to your usual spot you got a wolf whistle from Stu.
“Damn Merc, looking good! Is that my shirt?”
You were about to answer, but rolled your eyes when Tatum smacked him. They hadn’t been going out long, but she was oddly possessive of him and you hated it. You hardly got time to spend with him anymore.
“Yeah, and you’re not getting it back. Have to pry it from my cold… dead… body!” You joked.
“That could be arranged.” He said darkly.
This time Billy smacked him in the back of the head. Randy was the next to speak.
“Did you hair get even shorter?”
“Yeah, my father called me his ‘pretty girl’ last night when we presented report cards. Almost threw up in my mouth. Had to fix that.”
You spun to show off you work. It was haphazard and choppy but it fit you grunge “I don’t give a fuck aesthetic.”
“Looks nice.” Tate said, pretending to be nice.
She assumed you were trying to steal her boyfriend, but you knew she should be looking at your brother for that. They weren’t as desecrate as they thought they were when your father and step mother were out of town. Stu didn’t know the definition of being quiet. The hair on the back of your neck stood up when somebody ruffled your hair. You reached out to catch their hand in your grip.
“Jesus Merc, it’s just me.” I exclaimed.
Your tight grip hurting the delicate skin of my wrist.
“What the fuck Fang, what have I told you about sneaking up on people?”
I bowed my head. “That’s it’s not polite… which is precisely why I do it. Wanna go scare Misses Wexler in math?”
You rolled your eyes at me.
“What did you fucking feed them Stu?” Randy asked.
I was practically bouncing of the walls. It wasn’t unusual but today in particular I couldn’t sit still. And I wanted to get away from the group and hang, just the two of us.
“Randy, I’m their brother, not their keeper.” He turned his attention to me. “Did you steal my energy drink from the fridge?”
I bounced on my tippy toes nodding frantically.
“And I got into your old Halloween Candy stash.”
Both Syd and Tate made a noise of disgust.
“Forgot about that shit, why the fuck did you eat it? You’re gonna get a all sick and shit.”
“Gotta live life on the edge Broski! I live for danger! ONWARDS TO MATH!” I screamed, dragging you down the hall with me.
“You’re sibling is on crack.” I heard Billy mutter to Stu.
As I pulled you down the hall, I abruptly pulled us into the boys bathroom. One of the boys turned to look at us with his dick still in his hand. I slowly looked down at it, then back up at him. You covered your eyes at least trying to give him privacy and hissed at me under your breath.
“We’ll at least you’ve got a pretty face, cause your LITTLE buddy ain’t doing nothing for y’a.” I joked.
I was know not to have much of a filter. It wasn’t that I couldn’t be nice, I just told things how they were. And I swore this boy was about to cry. He quickly zipped up his pants and left without washing his hands.
“Gross.” You muttered. “So what’s with the bathroom emergency?”
I stared looking around the room mindlessly.
“Fang!”
You grabbed my attention.
“Right sorry. I’m got another one of those vibes.” I started to explain.
“Like when my mom left?”
I nodded my head.
“But not as sad. More of a scary vibe. Like when something really bad happens to a lot of people.”
“Jesus.” You sighed, raking a hand through your hair.
“Haircut?” I asked.
“Haircut.” You deadpanned. “Anything more specific?”
“Not how it works I’m afraid. If my dreams were more specific don’t you think I would have found a way to make money of this freaky shit by now?”
You sighed heavily.
“All I can tell you is it’s gonna happen to someone we know. And it’s gonna hurt, I felt it. Woke up with blood on my shirt and shit. When Stu asked I just told him I got a bloody nose from looking at-“
“Ok I get it. You know for someone who’s asexual you sure like to make people think you’re getting some all the time.”
“Gotta be in demand. Have that just put off reach vibe”. I winked.
You rolled your eyes.
“Thanks for letting me know.”
I saw the furrow in your brow and frowned. “Don’t worry, it’s not you.”
“But you said-“
“I know I said they aren’t specific, but trust me, if I thought my bestie was in trouble, I’d figure out a way to make it specific. I would have felt more of it was more personal. Must be a friend of a friend or some shit.”
“Come on let’s get to class so we can put thumbtacks on Wexler’s seat!”
I gave you a high-five. School went by quickly that day. You didn’t feel like changing back into your parent proof attire. So we lied to your parents, saying we had a school project and you’d just spend the night. Told them it would take all weekend Stu would drive us to school on Monday. He always played nice in front of the parents so they trusted him.
You were on the floor, playing with one of my many switchblades and listening to the music we had playing. I was hanging off the bed upside down, playing with my curls. Then I suddenly had an idea.
“We should dye my hair!”
“Ok, no more exprired Halloween candy for you buddy. Gonna have to cut you off.”
“Ugh you’re not fun, live a little my non gendered amigo! I think Tate left her bleach in the bathroom.”
“Wait, that’s not her natural colour?”
“No, have you seen her roots? She wants to give off that dumb blood vibe so my brother thinks she’s hot. I think she’s trying to hard. Now come on, please?”
“Fine, we’ll head to the store get some snacks and pick up a new horror movie from Randy, then we’ll dye your hair.”
“Yay! You’re the best!”
Oddly enough, we ran into our siblings at the video store that day.
"Billy, what are you doing here?" You asked.
Billy turned to look at you but stopped when his eyes landed on me.
"Why the fuck does Stu Jr. look like a fucking tomato?" He questioned back.
"Well hello to you Mr I have zero sense of fashion. Explain to me again why every girl in school seems to want to hop on your dick?"
My brother broke out into a full-on cackle. He reached out to ruffle my fresh, red hair and leaned his elbow on top of my head. I was not gifted with his height, nor his charm.
"You know mom's totally gonna kill you right?" He asked.
"I'd like to see her try. Her mistake for pushing me out of her vagina, I didn't ask for this shit."
Billy rolled his eyes at my vulgarity. My brother was capable of having a filter at home, but we all grew used to him spewing his every thought around us. But I had given up on seeming "presentable" ages ago. Life was too short to give a fuck about what other people thought.
"Yout think it looks good, right Merc?" I asked.
You nodded your head. "Well I spent two hours son that shit, so I better like it as much as you do."
"That would explain the stains on your hands then." Billy chimed in.
You looked down at your hands, seeing the faint sheen of red around your nail beds. You fidgeted with your hands a little, suddenly uncomfortable under your brother's scrutinising gaze. It always seemed like you were never good enough for him. Despite how much he obviously loved you, sometimes he had a hard time showing it.
"You know you never answered their question Billy boy!" I cut in.
His gaze was back on me now, full annoyance in his eyes. I smirked up at him, shrugging Stu's elbow off my head finally.
"Obviously we're getting a movie."
"No shit, what movie dipfuck?"
"That's not even a word."
"And you're not even remotely convincing me that you actually came here to get a movie. You hate hanging out around Randy when it's not necessary. What's your angle here?"
"Your brother wants to watch some dumb horror movie. Considering he's my best friend I'm trying to be nice."
"Have you checked out Urban Legend yet? It's a little cringe but the twist and fun and the kills are decent." You chimed in.
"I knew there was a reason we kept you around Merc. Thanks for the suggestion. Come on Billy, we have a horror movie to watch."
I raised a brow at my brother's suspicious tone. I wasn't great at reading most people, but my brother wasn't like most people. We watched as they walked off into the horror section of the video store. I turned my attention back to you and pointed over to where Randy was failing to flirt with some poor girl checking out a RomCom.
"Wanna scare her away?" I prompted.
"Naw, I think he's doing a pretty good job of that on his own. Let's just grab The Elephant Man and get out of here. I wanna relax in the comfort of my home away from home."
I smiled up at you. It made me happy you liked hanging out at my place so much. You followed after the boys to the horror sections dn I waited over by Randy.
"You know he has headlice right?" I mentioned to the girl at the counter. I heard her two friends giggle behind her, and she suddenly shied away from Randy. He sent me a not-so-subtle glare.
"They're lying... They're lying you know!" He yelled after her as she exited the store. "Why?" He asked, sounding sad and pathetic.
"Because I enjoy your pain, Randy. It makes my face do that happy thing."
"Your family is insufferable."
"Tell me about it." I jumped up on the counter and sat down, dangling my legs.
"What are those idiots up to?" He questioned, looking over your way.
He caught your eye and you gave him an enthusiastic wave. It always amazed me how much energy you could have after school.
"Idiot One and Two, I have no idea. They say they're gonna watch some shit, but I've never seen my brother that excited about a movie. And Billy seems extra irritated today, I swear he synced periods with Syd."
Randy laughed at my joke.
"But Merc and I are gonna watch an old classic. Decompress after that stupid quiz today."
"Sounds fun, I'm stuck here until close and you just scared off my only entertainment."
"Please she was just gonna swoon you so you'd take her out and buy her dinner, then she'd run back to her little lackies and spend the whole night talking about how you tried too hard. Stick to girls in your range Romeo, the right one will like you for all of your... Randy-ness."
"Thanks? I'm not sure if that was a compliment or not."
I pat him on the back, offering no condolence. You handed the movie off to him and gave me a weird look. As we parted ways with Randy, we sent one last look over to our brothers who were spending a suspicious amount of time just standing there pretending to look for the movie you recommend.
"Something is definitely up with them right?" You asked a thin layer of worry in your voice.
"Yeah, the two of them totally need to get laid." I joked.
You hit me on the shoulder.
"Right sorry, I don't know what's up. Your brother is just PMSing. He gets like that sometimes. Syd probably ghosted him again and he's just being a little baby. A little bro time will do them some good. Keeps them out of our hair doesn't it?"
You gave an unsatisfied nod.
"Fine, we'll follow them, but we are still watching this movie, I didn't hold an entire conversation with Randy all by myself for you to not watch this shit."
You pulled me into a hug.
"Thank you, you're the best."
"Yeah, yeah. And when we find out Thing One and Thing Two are just sucking each other's dicks behind the bleachers, not only will we both need therapy, but you're gonna owe me."
"What is wrong with you?" You rolled your eyes in disgust at the thought.
"Everything... every fucking thing," I smirked.
I had to admit, my interest was piqued when we followed them to Casey Becker's house.
"Maybe they're all gonna get freaky?" I joked.
"Do you ever think of anything other than sex?" You chastised.
I thought for a moment, and I couldn't really come up with a retort. You pulled me forward, into a bush. We crouched down and watched as our brothers took out a black duffle bag.
"Now you remember what we discussed?" Billy's voice came through the air in a whispered hush tone.
"Yes, Billy. I'm not stupid. This was my idea remember. She's perfect for this."
We remained quiet, not wanting to risk giving away our position. This suddenly seemed way more serious than just spying on our siblings. Something about the way your brother spoke sent shivers down my spine. My own brother seemed way too giddy about whatever they were about to do. They pulled on these costumes, and I thought for a moment they were just pulling some weird prank. It wasn't that out of the ordinary for Stu. But Billy didn't seem the type for high school screamfests.
"Those costumes are kidna sick." You whispered.
I gave you a nod but shushed you as they began talking again. But their voices came out distorted. They pulled out a telephone and seemingly dialled Casey's number.
"We should go, I feel like my brother will tell us about it later. Besides, I really want to watch that movie." I sighed.
I knew Billy would be pissed if he ever discovered we were spying on him. So the less we knew about this silly teenage prank, the better. You rolled your eyes yet agreed that we should leave, the brush was beginning to be a little itchy. Casey's parents must have just sprayed the garden with pesticides.
"What's your favourite scary movie?" we heard as we snuck our way around the back of the house.
I quickly pulled you behind a tree as I heard footsteps approach. One of them was clearly still staking out the front for this prank, but I figured my brother must have gotten bored and wandered off. But the next sound we heard wasn't nearly comical. Everything happened so fast, but it was clear as day that Casey's scream rang through the air.
The faint sound of squelching flesh could be heard from our hiding spot, and I held my hand over your mouth. I could tell you wanted to leave, but I didn't dare let you move. It was different witnessing this stuff first-hand, versus in our scary movies. I slowly dropped my hand and put a finger up to my mouth, but we both knew you wouldn't speak. I pointed toward the back of the house. The clearing was wide open, there was no way we could make a run for it without being seen.
But these were the siblings we were talking about. A little deranged and standoffish. But Everybody loved your brother. And everybody loved to hate mine. You shook your head, begging me not to do what you knew I would. My decisions were never very thought out, but my mind was set on my plan. I would distract them so you could escape.
"Go home, I'll meet you there." I mouthed.
You tried to grab for my hand but I pulled away.
"Go!" I whisper and yelled.
I calmly walked out from behind the tree, pretending like I'd just stumbled upon the scene. Billy wouldn't be stupid enough I believe that, but I was hoping to run into Stu first. My stomach twisted as I saw Casey's boyfriend, gutted on full display on her back porch. I'd give them this, they didn't half-ass this shit. I saw from my spot as you made a break for the road. Whatever happened, at least you'd be safe.
I pushed forward, crouching down beside the body as I watched the lights turn on inside. Poor Casey looked terrified from what I could see. Her body was rigid and from her silhouetted form, I could see how hard she was breathing. I silently prayed she'd make it out of this, but it didn't seem likely.
She didn't know who they were, and I'm sure Billy was banking on this fact. But he was far too paranoid to leave it to chance. Upon further inspection, I could tell this was my brother's work. Dumbass left the knife sticking out of this Jock's forehead. Of course, he'd find some way to make a joke out of this, I don't even know why I was surprised. I pulled the knife from his body and cringed when the blood sprayed on my face. Whether I liked it or not, I was in this now. My fingerprints were on the weapon and I had literal blood on my hands.
I turned in time to see Casey make a run for it out the back door. I could have spoken, grabbed her attention, done literally anything. But I just stood there. I watched as one of them descended upon her in their Ghostface costume and plunged the hunting blade into her sternum. Her scream came out gurgled and I closed my eyes for a second.
When both of them were in sight, I knew it would be safe to try and sneak around through the house. I slipped through the door and made my way to the front. I didn't dare look back. I ran all the way back to the house where I was certain you would be waiting. The knife tucked into the tail of my pants. I didn't want to be unearned if they had spotted me, but boy was I glad they handed. We chose my place because my parents were gone for the week. I'm sure that is why Billy and Stu chose tonight to be their magnum opus.
I hadn't meant to sneak up behind you, but I'd just forgotten to make any sound. I flinched when you squealed, clutching the kitchen knife close to your chest as you turned to me. Your face paled when you saw the blood.
"It's not mine." I quickly clarified. Though of course, that didn't make this situation any better.
"I don't think they saw me. But they aren't going to get away with this."
"If we go to the cops..." Yous started.
"Oh no, we're not gonna do that. How stupid do you think we'll sound if we say our siblings just killed two innocent high school kids. They'll just think it's some dumb prank, or brush it off as a sibling feud. Nobody in their right mind would believe Billy Loomis, town heartthrob and Stu Macher the class clown could be killers. Besides, they'll use the adapter as an alibi. Plus, you, Randy and I saw them pick out tonight's movie. Randy will back them up unintentionally."
"So what do you suggest we do?" You asked.
"We play this to our advantage. They owe us, big time." I smirked.
You raised a bro, questioning my motives.
"My dumbass brother almost got caught leaving this knife behind. So, why don't we use it to send our own message?"
I grabbed some paper from my father's desk and began to write my note. You read it from over my shoulder.
"Remember The Titans, yet one has fallen. A ghost from the past, and one who's calling. A high school romance, that's cutting edge. Tell me, what's blonde, then red and now suddenly dead?"
"I don't understand."
"My brother knows I'll have his back as long as he has my front. This means we will have them wrapped around our fingers until they inevitably get caught on their own. We can get them to do whatever we want."
"You're devious, and disturb, you know that right?"
"And your brother jsut convinced my brother to kill two people, we can't all be perfect now can we?"
I folded up my note and headed up to my brother's room. We went inside and I pinned the note to the inside of his closet door with the knife.
"They'll have to change and clean themselves up when they get here. And we will be watching our movie when they do."
"I hate the way you think sometimes."
"But you love me." I teased.
You rolled your eyes as we made our way back to my room. Despite the trauma of witnessing a real-life murder, we were going to let that ruin our weekend. We sat and watched The Elephant Man until our siblings returned home. Billy and Stu were way over their heads, and if they wanted to avoid getting caught they would need our help. Who better than the self-proclaimed horror experts to help stage the perfect crime? An alibi for an alibi makes the whole town blind.
An: yes I know Billy’s mom left in the original, we’re just gonna say he has a stepmom. Deal with it 😂
--A (APPERANCE)--
Shape of eyes? Length/style of Lashes?
𖧷ɤ— Sumire's eye shape are curved slightly downwards, they sorta have a snake eye appeal to them, or maybe a similar appeal to bats. She definitely has her fathers eyes. Her eye lashes are of far length, not too long but not too short either.
just my fate pt 1
 I remember the very day that I became diagnosed with PCOS, it felt like I finally got the answer to all my problems but also like a part of me died. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is an incurable condition that only affects 1 in 10 women, which is a very small amount. I already have another condition that I was born with to deal with and when I got this diagnosis I couldn't help but think why me again. Although I had no control over this, I felt like I was at fault and was very hard on myself. “Maybe if you did this or hadn’t done that” I would think to myself constantly. But when it came down to it i knew it was just my fate, i lived a very healthy lifestyle before this diagnosis. I was a very athletic girl, very fit and would eat very clean, not in a million years would i have thought i would be the 1 in 10 women to live with this condition. There were so many questions racing through my head that I wanted answers to them. PCOS is a very under researched condition, that the doctors themselves could not even provide me with answers to the questions i asked.
  Every doctor's visit was the same old thing, new prescription for birth control and to state the obvious that I kept gaining weight due to the condition. These medical professionals did not care to offer any other solutions or resources. “Just lose weight” is all they said as if it is not 10x harder for the average woman to lose weight with PCOS. The symptoms that come with PCOS are facial hair, ovarian cysts, acne, rapid weight gain, type 2 diabetes, bi-polar disorder, depression, anxiety, insomnia and the list goes on.  Funny how one would think that Doctors are there to help you as much as they can when in reality they are just there to get your money. “Just lose weight” offered no solution, “losing weight” with pcos does not come easy which they are aware of. No knowledge or resources on how to lose weight successfully with pcos was provided which is something I resented, so much easier said than done.
  I remember looking into the mirror and not being able to recognize myself. I was gaining weight very fast and what made matters worse is that I was still living a healthy lifestyle. The cause of my weight gain was not the lifestyle I was living or my eating habits. The problem lies somewhere deep rooted inside me having all my organs working against me. I felt very helpless and depressed. I did not know how to stop my weight from increasing. My meals consisted of salads, greek yogurt w fruit, avocado toast, I would drink only water and no soda whatsoever. I was exercising like crazy but I could not catch a break. I was gaining weight no matter what I did. That is when the depression hit hard, the girl I looked at in the mirror was a complete stranger. I tried to remember her but she felt so unfamiliar and if I'm being honest sometimes it still feels that way. I see glimpses in the mirror of the girl i used to know but that she does not stay for long that it makes it hard to remember who she once was.
 The situation I was in was very isolating, I would constantly avoid going out with my friends and my boyfriend. I wanted to avoid  getting ready and looking in the mirror as much as possible. The times I did force myself to go out with my friends would only make me feel worse. I would wear sweatshirts and baggy pants to hide the fact that I had gained weight in such a short amount of time. They would all look so beautiful in their outfits and had so much confidence that I only wished I could have an ounce of. Having a boyfriend at this time, if my life was difficult, I constantly compare myself to other girls when I started gaining weight, which ruined my confidence. When we would go out I would be paranoid and be staring at him to see if he had wandering eyes, he never did. Though it  is probably obvious that the relationship ended in destruction, the insecurity, paranoia, mood swings, depression, anxiety and self pity I was going through was a cause for chaos that resulted in my relationship being doomed to fail. In my experience, you can never really love someone until you learn to yourself.
silken robes - lan bro hcs
seeing you in new hand sewn clothes for the first time
**✿❀ ❀✿**
Lan Xichen
when the changing curtain is pulled open, Lan Xichen doesn’t expect to be as winded as he is by your appearance
you’re usually in really simple, form fitting, bland colored robes
they’re aimed to accommodate how often you’re out on the field, battling and wielding your instrument
you also have had a tomboy streak to you ever since Lan Xichen had met you, so you don’t really ever wear anything too colorful or lavish
even on special occasions
but Xichen is happy that today, his birthday, is a special enough occasion for you to change your outfit
you’re donned in beautiful floral robes, flowers accentuated by the creamy white tone background of the smooth silk fabric
your hair is finally styled in something other than a quick ponytail,
it’s actually in a half up, half down kind of style, with small budding poppy flower tying the entire look together
you look quite shy when you meet his eyes, not used to how you look in such an outfit
you haven’t even turned to look at yourself fully in the mirror yet, too busy gauging Lan Xichen’s enamored expression in front of you
you’re quiet as Lan Xichen gets up from the small tea table and walks over to you,
when he’s close enough to you, he takes your shoulders gently, helps you spin around slowly to really take in the sight of you in such beautiful robes
you do as he pleases, though there’s a steady red blush rising on top of your face
Lan Xichen stops your spinning when you’re facing the mirror, and finally you see yourself
it’s different, the pastel colors and embroidered flowers
your hair, soft and brushed, flows down your shoulders like all the other girls that you see out in the marketplace
you wonder if you look too average...
“you are so beautiful, y/n,
thank you”
you’re surprised by his words, turning in his arms to look at him
“i should be telling you that, for buying me such beautiful robes,” you reply honestly
when Lan Xichen looks down at you, he only shakes his head a wide happy (loving) smile on his face
he can never get enough of your beauty
**✿❀ ❀✿**
Lan Wangji
you have always been beautiful in Wangji’s eyes,
whether you’re dressed in normal or fancy or any kind of clothing
Lan Wangji’s eyes have always been drawn to you
as of recent, you’ve taken to wearing a lot more pastel and light blue shades, as his wedded cultivation partner, living with him in Cloud Recess
and although the silk and fabrics of Gusu were anything but shabby
he can tell that you miss the vibrant colors of your home sect
so on a visit to Caiyi town
where you’re on your way to meet an old friend of his, Wei Wuxian you’re told,
Lan Wangji surprisingly stops at a clothing store on the way and turns to you with a simple,
“try on something you like,” Lan Wangji says
and though the strict rules of his sect have rubbed off a bit on you since your stay,
you still listen to your husband’s words and indulge a little bit at the clothing store
all the different fabrics and colorful clothing reminds you of when you were young naive child under your parent’s care at the inland sect
but all the colors around you, suddenly feel different in your eyes, a vibrancy that you feel you no longer see on yourself
you trail around the store eying a few dresses and robes here and there but ultimately not buying anything
it surprises Lan Wangji
makes him a little sad
because he’d been meaning to spoil you
“does nothing suit your taste?” Wangji asks when you return to his side and you just shake your head, interlocking your arm with his
“everything is beautiful, i’ve just, gotten used to...well,” you gesture vaguely down to the robes that you’re wearing, pastel blue and white that matches with his cloud embroidered robes
and Lan Wangji is a little surprised, a lot enamored
at the end of the day, after lunch and an outing with his friend, he still manages to get you new, specifically tailored robes
when you join him on a walk around Cloud Recess, a new set of pastel cream and sky blue robes, with you own embroidered cherry blossoms on the hems
you steal his breath away with every glance
"So, what do you think?" Loki asked spreading his arms and showing you his new outfit.
You shrugged. "Looks good to me."
"Don't you think it's too much?" he checked himself in your mirror.
"Is anything EVER too much for you?" you asked with a smirk.
"I just...I really like her and I don't want to mess up."
"You won't, trust me," you reassured him.
He hugged you tightly, to your surprise. "What would I do without such a friend like you?"
The younger prince bolted from your room faster than you could answer. You sighed and closed the doors after him so no one could hear your heart breaking, again.
You and Loki were friends. Best friends actually. But you started to to see him more than that years ago. And you hated it.
You already accepted the fact he'll see you as only his supportive friend. If only he could stop asking you to help him woo his love interests. He always asked your opinion on everything. Flowers, his outfits, gifts he wanted to give them.
Once he even asked to kiss you so he could practice. It was in general your and his first kiss ever. Your head spinned when your life long best friend and crush in one person gently placed his lips on yours, his tongue sliding to your mouth. When he pulled away he just mumbled simple 'thanks' and ran away, leaving you flustered and with a face on fire under your favourite tree. At first you often sat under that old oak, remembering the feeling and smiling to yourself. However with every new interest of Loki you started to avoid the poor tree. Hate it even. You hated how it represented how you foolishly threw away your first kiss.
You still stood by Loki. What else could you do? Confess your feelings? As if that'll help.
You started to see pattern in his interests and you never managed to tic the boxes. You were only average among everything; intelligence, looks, skills. There were hundred and one people who were exactly like you. Loki would never choose you over a noble woman or man he was used to courting.
Now, when you were finally alone, you could think about what are you going to do about your never ending crush. You layed down on your bed and stared at your white ceiling. You already tried to avoid him in hopes you will loose your feelings for him, that didn't work. You wrote down every negative thing about him, trick your mind he isn't a good boyfriend material. Didn't work either since he is the kindest person you've ever met. And the gentlest. And nicest. With the most beautiful smile and eyes. And arms that give the coziest hugs.
"Fuck," you whispered and closed your eyes. It always ended like this. No matter how much you tried, you could never see him as something less than a great person he was.
Suddenly you heard his melodic laughter under your windows. As well as some girl's. You couldn't take it anymore.
"You know what? If he can date around, so can I!" you told yourself in pure desperation to get rid of the jealousy and pain from knowing he will never love you.
First thing you did was hiding everything he gave you as a child, every little trinket you cherished in false thought he's starting to catch feelings for you. You removed all of it from your shelves and put in a big box sliding it under your bed.
There, now onto the more complicated part: the oak of your very first kiss. Your heart ached with every step you took towards it. It was already old and not so full of life like it used to be. Its bark was dry and overgrown with moss. The poor thing didn't have enough energy to grow its leaves as viscoulsy like few years ago. No one visited it anymore. It was lonely just like you.
"Looks like you're few years from death, old buddy," you patted its trunk. "Let's end your missery now."
*
You were on your way back to your room holding a little pot filled with soil. Nothing was growing out yet, but in few months you were expecting a small oak sappling to grow. You couldn’t say goodbye to your old wooden friend just yet.
There, deep in halls, sounds are resonating. Sounds you soon came to hate. Kissing, Loki chuckling, some woman moaning, door closing.
You sadly looked down at the pot and took the biggest diversion to your room, avoiding coming any near Loki's bedroom.
*
Few days later you still avoided Loki. That time was the first time he had brought anyone to his bedroom to do....that. It was good he didn't ask you to practice on you. If he did, you would've.... you don't know what would you do. Probably panic first and get angry next.
While Loki was, let's say, occupied you got closer to one soldier, Arne. He was kind, tall, ginger with freckles and very skilled fighter. He wasn't the smartest but he had a sense of humor and always tried to make you laugh. He wasn't Loki though, but it didn't matter. At least you kept yourself busy, so your heart could heal.
Right now you were in stables with Arne. He was telling you how he got his first horse when he finished his soldier training few decades back. You were braiding his mare's mane as he stood right beside you, his shoulder lightly touching yours. Everything was at peace.
"Y/N! Y/N, WHERE ARE YOU?" came Loki's voice.
Almost everything.
You turned your head towards his voice. He was rushing towards you until he stopped when he noticed Arne standing so close to you.
"Am I interrupting something?" he asked a little irritated.
"Well-"
"It doesn't matter, I have to show you something," he took you by the hand and started dragging you out of the stables only for you to slip your hand from his and hugging Arne. "See you tomorrow," you waved him goodbye and walked out, Loki trailing after you.
"So, what is it you wanted to show me?"
"What the Hel was that?" he pointed at you and behind him at the stables, completely ignoring your question.
"A hug. Why?"
"Since when are you hugging random soldiers? And since when are you even hanging out with low ranking soldiers like Hofferson?"
"His first name is Arne, and I'm allowed to hug whoever I want. Same goes for hanging out. Now are you going to show me the thing or can I return to him?"
"Right," he remember, took your hand again and ran to gardens. To the familiar now empty corner. "Look what some bastard did," he pointed at the wide oak stump.
"Yeah, I know."
"You do? Oh, darling," he threw his arms around you. You fought with yourself internally to not hug him back, but being close to him after a very long time felt just too good not to give in.
"I'm so sorry. I know it was your favourite tree. I will find the culprit and-"
"You don't have to," you interrupted and pulled yourself away from him.
"I do! That tree meant a lot to me too. I was actually working on a spell to bring life into it again."
"And how exactly did it mean a lot to you? I never saw you even near that tree."
Loki stuttered. "E-ehm, we had our first kiss underneath it."
"As if that meant anything to you," you muttered.
"What?"
"I said it was old and it had to be cut down."
"Well you could've asked me before you killed it," he spat rather angrily.
"My family planted it, I get to do whatever I want with it!"
"Did it mean so little to you?"
"No. On the contrary, it meant the world to me! That's why I had to cut it down!"
"What? Why? I don't understand you," he shook his head.
"Well excuse me for wanting to destroy the biggest thing that reminded me how my best friend stole my first kiss!"
"Stole? I asked and you complied!" Loki defended himself.
You groaned. "Okay fine, you didn't steal it, I lost it. Now can I go back to Arne?"
"Lost it?! Have you got any idea how many people would murder for a kiss from a prince? And why do you want to go to Arne so desperatelly? You never talked to soldiers before, so why the change of heart?"
"I like him, he's nice and courageous and-"
"I forbid it."
"What?!" you couldn't believe your ears.
"I forbid it. You can't whore around with soldiers like him, think about your reputation!" he crossed his arms infront of him.
"Whore around? Look who's talking! You've had at least 5 lovers in the past month!"
"T-that's different."
"And how exactly is it different, Loki?"
"I-"
You waited. Nothing came out of him.
"That's what I thought."
*
Few days passed, you continued avoiding Loki and he started to close off from everyone. Occasionally you saw some green sparkles in a shape of a person sitting on the oak stump. You figured that must be Loki under cloaking spell. All you wanted to do was run to him and hug him, he looked so depressed and lonely. Just like you were when you saw him with all those lovers in the past.
You felt bad for him. But you doubted he felt bad for you back then. Or now. So you always walked pass him, pretending you didn't notice him.
*
*knock knock*
You looked up from watering your growing oak sapling. Who could it be? You weren't expecting anyone. "Who's there?"
"Guess," came a dull voice.
You put away your watering kettle and hid the pot behind courtains. "Come in, Loki."
He stepped inside wearing one of his ordinary clothes, his hair wasn't slicked back like he used to style it and he had apologetic expression on his face.
"Y/N, I came to apologize."
Loki is apologizing. Now that's new. "What for?" you asked teasingly.
He sighed. "For saying you were whoring around. It wasn't right from me," he pulled out your favourite flower from behind his back, "friends?"
You took the flower. "Okay, friends."
Loki clapped his hands excitedly. "Great, now that we're at good terms with eachother I-"
"No!" you silenced him. You knew there had to be a catch. He made up with you just so he could ask you for help. Just like always.
"You don't even know what I was about to say."
"Oh, I think I do. You want me to give you advices again. Well, guess what? That's not happening. So you can, as mortals say, do 180 and walk out that door," you pointed behind him to your bedroom door.
Loki held out his hands in surrender. "I wasn't going to ask you that! I just want to talk."
"Oh," now you felt stupid. "Okay, a little talk never killed anyone I guess."
"Thank you," he let his hands fall down and took a walk around your room. "I see you were redecorating," he noticed all of his trinkets he gave you were gone. He assumed you most likely threw them out or burned them. Just the thought of it hurt him.
"Yeah," you hugged your arms to comfort yourself. "I still have them, I just didn't want to look at them anymore."
He turned towards you. "Why? First the tree, then my little gifts. What's next, me?" he joked to ease both your and his growing anxiety.
You chuckled lightly and shook your head. "No, don't worry."
He walked to you and put his hand on your shoulders. "Then why? We're best friends, right? We can tell eachother everything."
"That's exactly what I can't do," you grabbed his hand on your shoulder and slowly removed them.
"Why? Do you... do you hate me?"
"What? Heavens no! I could never hate you!"
He sighed from relief. "Good. But then why? I can't think of a single reason you would do those things. Wait. On a second thought," he held his chin between his thumb and index finger and looked down like he always does when he was thinking. He shook his head then and chuckled to himself. "No, that's absurd. You could never be in love with me."
You involuntarily tensed up. He noticed.
"Or could you?"
Tears started burning in your eyes as you nodded. "Sorry."
"For how long?"
After few minutes of thinking you shook your head. "I don't remember when it happened. It just happened."
"Well, when did you realise then? That you...you know? Are in love with me?"
"Few days before the oak kiss, I guess."
"But that was decades ago! This long time and I never saw," he facepalmed.
"And you...?" you asked hopefully. Maybe he will tell you he loves you too, right?
He sighed. "I'm sorry Y/N. I love you, but not like that. You have always been like a little sister I always wanted."
You nodded. Of course he doesn't love you like that. How even could he? You turned away from him and let some tears escape.
"Y/N, I'm so sorry," he rubbed your back. "We can still be friends. Nothing will change between us. I promise."
But it already did. Everything changed for you. How could you even look him in the eye?
You wiped away your tears and put on a perfectly rehearsed fake smile. "Okay, I can work with that," you offered him your hand, "friends?"
Instead of shaking it he hugged you. "Friends."
You hugged him back and let your fake smile fall. Your naive little self told you he will change his mind in the future. You are already so close with eachother. Closer than anyone you know. It's just a matter of time. For now, you can only dream.
Undeniable Feelings
Pairing: female reader x Sam Wilson
Warnings: swearing, fluff, friends to lovers
A/N: This wasn’t requested but I it was an idea I had written down and I finally had the time to write it. This is the longest one-shot I’ve done so far at over 3,000 words. I hope you all like it and if you did, heart, comment, and reblog! If you want to be added to a taglist feel free to ask!
Next Up: Peter Parker x Reader fluff request
Tumblr media
Your phone buzzes in your pocket. You pull it out to see a text from Sam.
“I gotta ask you something. I’ll come by later.”
You reply with a thumbs up emoji and put your phone away.
Huh, what did he want to ask you? You couldn’t imagine he would have time in his schedule to even talk to you now that he was Captain America. He sighed reminiscing on how far you both had come. You started out as some kids in the Air Force and now you were working undercover and Sam was Captain America.
It felt like just yesterday when you and Sam decided to enlist. You were basically kids back then. It was astonishing you managed to stay friends through it all.
You were proud of Sam. He deserves recognition for all his hard work. You had read multiple articles on how people felt about a black Captain America and it was mostly positive, which was relieving.
Your mind returned to the task you were supposed to do. You briskly moved past the pedestrians of New York and went into a small bar, rumored to be running an underground black market.
You got there just on time and waited in the corner as the first suspect rolled in. You approached the bar as the man walked in. He went to the end of the counter and you got as close as you could without being suspicious. The bartender came over and you ordered a beer, which you didn’t intend to drink.
The man next to you spoke to the bartender in a hushed voice, whispering things you could just barely pick up. You recited the words in your head as the suspect left the bar. You lingered for a few more minutes to receive your beer, which you gave to a woman that was a few seats down.
The sidewalk was packed as usual and you were shoved a few times on the way to your apartment. You shoved your key into the lock and opened the door to your average home. It wasn’t big by any means, but it was decent for New York City.
You relayed the information you gathered to your superiors, letting them know that you were done for the day.
You relaxed for a few hours, sitting on the couch and catching up on the shows everyone was watching. It was nearly eight when you got a knock on your door. It had a beat to it, only the type of knock you know Sam would do.
You don’t know why he even bothers knocking when he has a key. He didn’t live there but before he was Captain America and an Avenger he would come over all the time and you got tired of unlocking the door. You craned your neck as he walked in carrying a bag of takeout.
“I know you haven’t had supper yet so I stopped to get some. And it's your favorite, Chinese.” He flashes you a smile and sets the bag down on the coffee table in front of the couch. You don’t even wait for him to sit down before you grab a styrofoam container and plastic utensils.
“Damn you're hungry.” He chuckles and tucks into the couch next to you.
“As always,” you reply.
Eating Chinese on your couch with Sam felt so normal. It was something you hadn’t done in a long time due to your jobs. No matter how far away you were, you stayed friends. Sam wasn’t the type to just lose contact with people, especially not his best friend. You could remember how long and lanky he used to be in high school and looking at him now you could see how much he had filled out.
“Whatcha watchin’?” He made a gesture toward the TV with his fork.
“Random show.” As you popped another piece of chicken in your mouth you remembered the whole reason he was coming over. “What did you want to ask me?”
“Oh yeah. Well…” he trailed off and gave you a cheeky smile. “There’s this ball I’ve been invited to. They said I could bring a plus one and I was hoping you would come with me.” He cocked his head to the side slightly and raised his eyebrows as if saying, “So how about it?”
You had been to a few ball type parties before for your job but you were never there for your own enjoyment. You would be going as Sam’s date. No, not date, plus one. You would be happy to accompany him.
“When is it?”
“Uh… Friday night.”
“Oh that’s soon, like, in three days.”
“I know it’s short notice. You don’t have to go with me. I can go solo.”
“No, no, I’ll go. I’ll go.”
He gives you a smile, showing the gap between his front teeth. He used to get picked on for it in elementary school but you thought it was cute. Sam in general was cute, more like hot honestly. Gosh, why were you thinking about your best friend that way? It’s normal right? You’ve known each other for so long it’s natural to think of him like that. You’d thought of him that way for a long time actually.
Before you went your separate ways career wise you liked him. You kept on telling yourself you would tell him but you never got the chance. And then you were both so busy with your jobs you didn’t think it would work out. You still to this day regretted never telling him. Him working with the Avengers and now being Captain America made it seem even more impossible.
Sam stayed for a few hours longer, leaving when both of your eyes were droopy. Before he headed out the door he hugged you. A really tight hug at that. You hadn’t seen each other in a while but why did he hug you like that? He usually stuck to a one-armed hug if anything. Maybe it was because you accepted his invitation?
“I’ll pick you up at seven. See ya bug.” He laughed as you tossed a pillow towards him. He wasn’t literally calling you a bug. The nickname came from your childhood fear of all bugs, even butterflies. He always teased you about it, finding rollie pollies and hanging them in your face while you squealed. He thought it was hilarious but young you found it very aggravating.
You went about the days until the ball normally, but when you weren’t focused on work your mind would drift to the ball. You were going to be Sam’s plus one. That meant you would have to dance together right? You felt butterflies in your stomach when you thought about Sam’s hands on your waist as you were pressed together. You felt like a giddy teenager again for the first time in years.
You could remember in high school when Sam would ask his crushes out to dances and you would watch longingly off to the side with some random guy. For so long you were hopelessly in love with him, your best friend.
Friday night eventually rolled around. Thankfully, you didn’t have work that day. By five o’clock you finally started getting ready. You took a shower, did your makeup, did your hair, and picked out your outfit. The dress you chose was one you’d never worn before. It was gorgeous and you never felt like the events you were attending would do it justice. You knew that tonight was the perfect time to wear it.
After you put on accessories you stood in front of your full length mirror. You weren’t one to boast but you looked absolutely stunning. You knew you would knock the socks off of Sam.
A short while later someone knocks on your door. This time you open it. As soon as the door opened you were both staring at each other. Your jaw almost dropped to the floor as you took in the way Sam looked. He looked finer than ever in a well tailored black suit and shoes. If you looked up the definition of sexy Sam’s photo would definitely be there. He wasn’t the only one that was ogling. In his eyes you looked like a goddess, so beautiful you seemed unreal.
“Wow- You- Wow. You look amazing.” He couldn’t take his eyes off you as you slipped an arm into his.
“You’re looking pretty sharp yourself, Wilson.”
You got in Sam’s car and drove to the venue. The venue was magnificent. It was one of the few ballrooms you hadn’t been to before. Reports surrounded the building as you stepped out of the car, arm in arm with Sam. The flashing cameras nearly blinded you. Everyone wanted an exclusive photo of the Captain America.
Reporters thrusted microphones into your faces as you passed and one nearly smacked you in the nose. Sam pulled you closer and quickened his pace so you could get away from all the chaos.
The inside of the building was grand. The walls and ceiling were ornate with engravings and rich colors. Chandeliers hung from the high ceilings, casting the room in a dreamlike glow. The main ballroom was full and loud. There were definitely more than 300 people there.
Sam’s arm left your waist and dropped to his side as he took in the whole scene. You were somewhat disappointed that he stopped holding you, but he didn’t know that.
You had barely made it through the doors when a robust man came up to you both. “Welcome! Mr. Wilson, or should I say Cap, I’m glad you could make it!” The man spoke with a Jersey accent and in a very animated way, hands and arms accentuating every word. Just from seeing and hearing him you could tell he was a character.
Sam wasn’t deterred by the big personality and shook his meaty hand, “Thank you Mr. Gafner. It’s an honor to be here.” Unlike Mr. Gafner, Sam spoke with a cool confidence that made him seem even more suave than he looked.
“Ahh! You humble an old man! It’s an honor to have you. Now that the parties here we can get this shindig started. Shall we?”
Mr. Gafner clapped Sam on the back and sent a thumbs up to someone across the room. Not a second later music began to play from a group of people on the side of a stage. The music sounded familiar, classical music with a modern twist almost. It wasn’t your typical gala music, but it was far from rave music.
Mr. Gafner walked away to tend to other guests, leaving you and Sam to fend for yourselves. You didn’t recognize any of the people there. The mayor and a few other higher ranking government officials were the only ones you recognized. You guessed the rest or the attendees were also government officials and local socialites.
It was like being at a party where you only knew one person all over again. It was strange how often you had been feeling like a teen again recently. Maybe it was Sam’s close proximity in your life again. You texted and talked over the phone but it wasn’t the same as being in person and that must have been the reason for all these resurfacing feelings.
You didn’t know where to go or what to do. You never planned what you would actually do when you arrived. All you could think about was being with Sam. Luckily he was still by your side, but you assumed that wouldn’t last long.
Sure enough when other guests noticed him a flock of them came over. You thought you would be swallowed and then spit out on the other side of the room by the crowd but that wasn’t the case. Sam could sense your unease and made sure to keep you close, arm slinking around you once again. You didn’t know it but he was feeling just as lost as you were. It was all a part of his new job as Captain America.
Sam quickly became the center of attention. Even the mayor came to congratulate him. No one acknowledged you, and as the minutes passed you felt more like an accessory than a person. You were used to blending in, so why did this bother you so much?
You were shuffling back and forth on your feet, eager to move yet unable to escape due to the bubble that surrounded you both. You literally let out a breath of relief when Mr. Gafner went on stage and spoke into a microphone.
“Welcome ladies and gentlemen! You all look lovely tonight, but I’m sure you already know that.”
A few chuckles came from the crowd, which was now moving to sit at the circular tables on the sides of the dance floor. There were place cards for everyone to find their seats and it seemed like you and Sam were the only ones that didn’t know where yours were located.
As your host continued to talk you finally found your spots, which happened to be near the stage. You both sat down and got comfortable, preparing yourselves to hear a long speech. You tuned back into Mr. Gafner’s just as he was saying, “We have a very special guest tonight, and no it’s not me, someone even more special. We have in attendance tonight, the one, the only, Samuel Wilson.”
Polite applause erupted in the room but quieted when the man resumed speaking. “If you would, Mr. Wilson, grace us with a speech?” Your eyes shot to Sam as he said that. You didn’t know Sam was supposed to make a speech and from Sam’s wide eyes you could tell he didn’t either.
He quickly fixed his face, standing up and making his way to the front. Mr. Gafner handed over the mic, giving Sam the floor.
“Hello. As you know, I am Captain America, but formerly known as the Falcon. Since I took on this role I’ve been really busy. Steve never talked about the press conference side of things, unfortunately.”
There were a few laughs and Sam paused before he continued. As his speech went on you could tell he was getting a little nervous. He started talking faster, which was a tell-tale sign. You weren’t sure why he was nervous, the whole room was fully focused on him, listening intently as he talked. A reporter even managed to slip in with a camera and record.
Sam’s gaze momentarily shifted to the side to look at you and in that moment you smiled at him. Sam’s nerves seemed to melt away, and he was back to his grinning self in a second.
“This is truly an honor and I have so many people to thank for this. I want to wrap this up with a simple and short, thank you. Thank you my fellow people, thank you to everyone on this Earth, and the biggest thank you to my best friend, who was there through it all.”
The room erupted in applause once again, but much louder than before. Everyone in general was clapping loudly but you had no doubt that you were clapping the loudest. You were so goddamn proud of him.
He waved as he walked back to your table, beaming.
“I don’t know how you do it.”
“Do what? Become Captain America or give a speech?”
“Low blow! I can give a speech now for your information.”
“You sure as hell couldn’t in elementary. You puked as soon as you got off the damn stage.”
You were both cracking up, paying no attention to the other people at your table.
Inevitably more people flocked to Sam, praising his speech. You were saved once again by the music picking up and people migrated to the dance floor. You sat watching the crowd as they slowly danced.
“You wanna dance bug?” Sam held his hand out, offering it to you.
“Sure, why not?” You did your best to act nonchalant. You couldn’t tell if Sam knew that butterflies were fluttering in your stomach.
You took his hand, letting him guide you to the middle of the room. He wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you against him. Your arms slid behind his neck and then you started to sway along with the music. You rested your head on his chest and were able to hear his heartbeat. It was faster than normal, but that might have been because he was still pumped from the speech.
You closed your eyes, allowing yourself to be fully in the moment. It was something out of a fairytale. You two in the middle of the dance floor swaying together. It fulfilled all your teenage dreams, but you found yourself wishing for the same things now as an adult. You wanted Sam. There was no doubt about it. The past few days just proved that even further.
The song came to a close and couples started switching partners. You lifted your head to meet Sam’s eyes, which were already looking into yours. You wanted so badly to kiss him, to just lean forward and close that distance between you. After waiting for so long, for so many years, you were going to tell him.
“Sam-” you were cut off by a woman tapping your shoulder.
“May I?” she asked.
Of course that was just your luck. You felt dejected. You were finally about to tell him but you were interrupted. Maybe that was the world’s way of saying that it wasn’t supposed to happen.
You were about to let go of Sam when he spoke up, “Actually we were about to go outside for some fresh air. If you’ll excuse us.” You looked back at the lady as Sam pulled you along with a hand on your back. She looked dumbfounded, shocked that he would reject her.
Sam pulled you through the back doors and into the brisk night air. This area of the building was blocked off and could only be accessed by going through the hall, which meant that no paparazzi could get to you.
You were only able to take one breath before Sam turned to you. “Y/N- I- I love you.”
It was so sudden you thought you heard him wrong. But no, you heard him right. He had a vulnerable look in his eyes, did he expect you not to reciprocate those feelings?
Your heart fluttered and you felt a trickle of relief flood throughout you. “I love you too.”
“You’re not pulling my leg?” His eyebrows were turned upwards in the middle from genuine worry.
“No Sam. I’ve loved you for years.” You were unaware that you were inching closer and closer to him but he wasn’t. You both wanted the same thing and so Sam went for it. He put a hand on your neck, thumb grazing your jaw. He took the last step forward and kissed you. It seemed the whole word lit up, fireworks going off just for you two.
Time stood still, the world was revolving around you and Sam, together at last.
“so what are you? sophomore? freshman?”. bria asks, stuffing her foot into her platformed converse. gabrielle nods, folding a shirt and inserting it into her drawer. “wow I wasn’t expecting them to give me a freshman for a roommate”. she scoffs kind of smug. “is that a problem?”. gabrielle speaks up, pushing a puffy curly strand of hair over to the other side of her head. bria only grinned and shook her head no. “nah. that just means I have a lot to teach you”.
“teach me?”.
“yeah”, bria agrees, in the mirror coating her lips with gloss. bria was a dark skinned five foot eight beauty. if gabrielle didn’t know any better she’d mistake her for a model almost. she had gorgeous curly afro hair, similar to that of a lion’s mane. gabrielle hadn’t saw much of her wardrobe yet but just by the edgy outfit she was already wearing she could tell that her style was to die for. her lips were thick and full and complimented her cat-like eyes well. gabrielle thought maybe she could pick up a few tips from her, especially with makeup. it was so perfect she could feel herself shrinking into her own insecurities. she thought she was pretty decent looking but no where near bria's level. gabrielle herself had honey brown skin, big brown curly hair with lots of volume. heart shaped lips. large brown wistful eyes with clear glasses frames worn over them. she was sort of chubby. her physique wasn't something she saw as a win in her eyes. her chest was average sized and her ass was there yet barely visible. and her waist definitely wasn't as snatched as bria's. but still, if she was going to be in college amongst those who looked different from her she had to try and gain some type of confidence about herself.
“what is there to teach me?”.
bria scoffs again, screwing the cap back onto her gloss. “you don’t want to know what it’s like to live the life here? trust me girl I’m almost a senior I can teach you a few things”.
“like what? if you’re talking about partying and all that I’m going to have to pass. I just got here and I don’t want to be running into trouble”.
“girl how is partying going to get you in trouble? you’re grown now. you don’t have you parents watching over you anymore. you can be free and do what you want to do”.
gabrielle grabs another shirt. “yeah but suppose one of ya’ll do some illegal shit? and then what? I can’t tell the cops that I wasn’t involved because I’m just a freshman. I’m going to jail right with ya’ll”.
bria tilts her head back and laughs. “you’re a trip if you think we ever do illegal shit and get caught”.
gabrielle shuts her drawer, moving another box across the room to her desk. “yeah well, I don’t want to be involved anyway. even the risk is too much. plus I don’t know how my boyfriend is going to feel about me out partying with other guys and shit”.
bria made a tsk noise with her lips prior to walking to her closet for her collection of purses. “you really came to college with a boyfriend? just how dumb are you?”.
“what? what’s wrong with having a boyfriend?”.
“girl do I even have to ask? look at you. you’re already uptight. you don’t want to party, you’re worried about what he might think. he already has you right where he wants you. living a boring life like him”.
gabrielle shifts her weight on her feet. “he doesn’t--live a boring life. he’s just protective”.
“tsk. that’s what he told you?”.
“well yeah--”.
“how old is your little boyfriend?”.
“he’s seventeen”.
bria tilts her head back and does that laugh again. the one that made gabrielle seem out out of place. mostly because she didn’t know what was funny to begin with. “yeah he’s young he’s still a senior in high school so what?”. she quickly defends.
“girl that ain’t gonna work. you’re in college you have to level up”.
“my boyfriend is fine. he’s all the leveling up I need”.
“mhm. we’ll see about that. anyways, I’m going to my girlfriend’s suite later you should come”.
“suite?”.
bria rolls her eyes. “girl relax we’re not going to be doing anything illegal. just chilling. maybe a little drinking or smoking but--i wouldn’t call that illegal”.
“drinking and smoking? I’ll pass”.
“you don’t have to do it. you’re acting like there’s going to be people there forcing you. it’s going to be her friends and a little bit of mine. if you want to make some lit friends quickly then I suggest you come so you can get yourself out there a little”.
“don’t worry. I can make friends in my classes”.
“aren’t you a biology major?”.
“yeah”.
“then you definitely need to come. or else you’re going to be playing battle of the nerds these next four years”.
gabrielle rolls her eyes, “what’s your major anyways?”.
“fashion design”.
gabrielle nods her head in response. that made a whole lot of sense.
“so? gabby? you coming or what because if so I want to see what you’re wearing”.
“it’s just a suite gathering right? I’m not trying to wear nothing special. probably like a sweater, some ripped jeans and sneakers”.
“pft ‘gathering’. you are so proper. outfit sounds cute but don’t you want to wear something a little revealing? you need to get a new man”.
gabrielle rolls her eyes. “like i said before I’m happy with the guy I have. and no I don’t want to wear anything revealing, have these guys out here thinking that they’re going to get a chance to fuck me”.
“and what’s wrong with that?”.
“everything”.
“whatever. I’ll be back to come grab you later. be ready.”. bria prompts before swinging a bag over her shoulder and leaving the room. gabrielle rolls her eyes. she continues organizing the knick knacks on her desk, most importantly the picture of her and her boyfriend. she missed him dearly and with her college being two hours away from home she didn’t know what she was going to do away from him from so long. texting and facetiming helped but there was nothing like being around him. she huffs her breath though, trying to push the thought to the back of her mind until she was ready to think of it again.
when she started getting dressed she was thinking more and more about what bria was saying. she wanted to look like herself but she still wanted to look cute because at the end of the day, she didn’t know bria or her girlfriend’s friends. this would be their first impression of her so she wanted to make it count. she pulls a scrunchie through her ponytail in a half up half down hairstyle and throws on a couple of hand rings and necklaces to go along with her outfit. she wasn’t too keen on makeup but she did apply winged eyeliner and a bit of lipstick just to keep herself from looking too plain. she looked over at herself in the mirror almost one hundred times, posing so she could see herself from different angles. she wondered if she really looked as good as she thought she did.
“girl you ready--ou okay! so you want to get a new man tonight after all?”. bria says while barging in, scaring the hell out of gabrielle. “damn can you stop screaming? no I don’t want a new man. I just want to look nice”. bria smirks. “whatever. if we don’t leave now we’re going to get there hella late so let’s go”.gabrielle nods and takes her phone off it’s charger. it was getting kind of dark outside but she could already hearing laughing and playing inside the quads of campus. she figured night time was only the beginning of all the fun.
“so? how is it here for real?”. gabrielle asked while they were walking, bria held her phone in her face preparing to take a selfie. “it’s actually not that bad. it’s just like every other college. has it’s pros and cons but at the end of the day, it depends on who you know. as long as you surround yourself with lit people you’ll have a good time”. gabrielle nods. she wanted to surround herself with those kind of people but she needed to focus on her studies. in high school she wasn’t in the mix too much. so she didn’t really know how she was going to function being around them in college. for the most part she had good control over herself, so she wasn’t worried.
when bria said suite, gabrielle wasn’t taking it quite literal. she hadn’t known the seniors practically had two floor suites together. gabrielle had never felt the sudden urge to rush and be a senior in her life. the living room was full with a bunch of people which automatically gave gabrielle anxiety. bria kisses her girlfriend on the lips before intertwining her fingers with hers. “babe this is my roommate gabby. gabby this is my girlfriend diamond”. gabrielle gave her a shy greeting trying to figure out if everyone bria knew looked just as good as she did. diamond was also a fair-skinned doll. “she’s a freshman I’m trying to make her make some friends”. bria comments. “they roomed you with a freshman?”. diamond asks. “right? that’s what I thought. but don’t worry she’s gonna be lit soon”. gabrielle rolls her eyes and scans around the room. there were people in the living room and kitchen it seemed. there was music playing and some of them was drinking and/or smoking and some weren’t which gabrielle liked.
when scanning though she wasn’t expecting her eyes to land on a certain someone, or rather, a certain someone’s eyes to be landed on her. his hair was black and long down the nape of his neck and over his eyes a bit. he wore a black hoodie, black jeans and sneakers. his overall aesthetic was dark gabrielle noticed, he also had a couple of finger nails painted black and a large cuban linked necklace peeking from his hoodie collar. his lips were pink and supple and his eyes were deep set and light brown, boring into hers. needless to say gabrielle thought he was the most gorgeous thing she’s ever laid her eyes on. she looks away to avoid his gaze and he smirks in response.
bria went around introducing her to everyone before going elsewhere with diamond. it kind of scared gabrielle because now she was forced to fiend for herself. everyone seemed considerably chill though and welcoming, offering her blunts and drinks to which she kindly declined. they didn’t seem to care, instead talked to her about other things like asking her her major and telling her how pretty she was. and every so often she’d try to join in the conversation to stay on her toes. she thought college gatherings would be much more crazier than this, maybe some project X party type of scene. she was shocked to see how cool they actually were, and how easily she clicked with them. things didn’t start getting a little wilder until later when a bunch of them gathered in the middle of the floor to play a drunk spin the bottle game. something gabrielle declined also, well, her and others. specifically that guy that was staring at her earlier, whom was leaning on the wall talking to some of his friends. his eyes broke away from them and fled to her every so often, admiring how pretty she was. and if anyone knew heuning kai, which everyone had, they knew that girls like gabrielle were the type of girls he aimed for.
“I take it that you don’t drink or party often?”. he spoke lightly, making gabrielle almost freeze in place. his voice was smoother than she imagined it. subtle, yet serious. “um--yeah it’s not really my thing”. she assures nervously, wanting more than anything to detach from his eyes but he was leaning on the kitchen counter near her and he had this addictive gaze that she couldn’t get enough of. not to mention he was six feet even, tall enough to be quite intimidating over her five foot five frame. “what’s your name?”. he smirked a little at her nervous fidgeting. “gabrielle”. he nods. “hm. gabrielle. you pretty. you know that?”. he took a quick sip of his drink and it was there where she noticed the silver rings around his fingers. why the hell was he so attractive?
“thank you”.
“i don’t really do all of this either. maybe we can chill somewhere together”.
gabrielle scoffs. “no, I’m fine. I know what guys mean when they say they want to chill. and I’m not that type of girl”.
“I’m not the type of guy to beat around the bush. if i wanted something from you I would’ve just said it. but”, he shrugs. “I want to hang with you. and if you don’t want to that’s fine”.
she bit the inside of her cheeks thinking, which was a bad move because by the the time she conjured up an answer he already walked off, leaving her feeling kind of stupid and the scene ate at her for days. she kept thinking of other answers she could’ve given him to make her seem less rude. he probably hated her now and thought she was uptight. one thing’s for sure she wasn’t going to tell bria about this just to avoid the teasing and taunting about it all. but gabrielle couldn’t help herself. she found herself wanting heuning kai’s attention. she wanted to be the girl that he desired. and ever since that night it seemed as if she saw him everywhere.
“he’s so fucking cute--”. her seatmate mutters in philosophy, gabrielle was too busy doodling on the edge of her notebook sheet to pay attention. “who?”. she asked without even looking up. “him”.
she shifts her attention away from her paper and captures a sight of kai. his hair was parted over his eyes this time and he wore a white turtleneck underneath a black ripped jean jacket. he still had different fingernails of his painted black, and a thin silver necklace wrapped tightly around his neck. gabrielle watched as his hair sifted every time he walked. he was the type of gorgeous where every time you saw him it was like everything was happening in slow motion. he had the fair share of girls surround him and his guy friends who encouraged him to sit by them. while he was on his way to his seat his eyes locked with gabrielle’s for a swift moment. her heart raced. her seatmate tapped her vigorously. “girl! who was he looking at?! was he looking at you?”. she whispered excitedly. the professor arrives and sits his bag down on the desk in front of the class. “I don’t know”.
“I’m assuming you’re all coming to class with a fresh memory of the reading from last night”, professor witman started, “I want you to take out your notebooks, laptops, phones or whatever you use to take your notes on and I want to ask you this, would you rather be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond? and why?”. he takes a piece of chalk and scrawls the letters on the blackboard. “I want you to be really thinking about this”. almost instantly gabrielle could see everyone writing or typing away. but she was too deep in thought. about the question, and about heuning kai. he stared at her like that frequently and she never knew what it meant. or how she could reproach him. she was far too intimidated to. maybe he would’ve shrugged her off. maybe he would’ve just flat out ignored her. he had enough clout and divine looks to deny anyone and still have a line of people waiting to date him. gabrielle just wanted to smack herself. what the hell was she doing thinking about him? she had a boyfriend back home. a boyfriend whose been loving her for almost two years now.
“heuning kai. share your thoughts”. professor witman directed. and like always, but much more literal now, all eyes were on the attractive tall boy at the back of the lecture hall.
“the way I see it it’s kind of like a double edged sword”, he talked with his hands and with certainty, “if you’re a big fish in a small pond you’re among the privileged. you have life going for yourself. you do the best at everything, you’re at the top of everyone’s list, you cross every t and dot every I. life is good. but at the end of the day it’s just because you’re in a small pond. outside of that pond you’re just a normal fish like everyone else. however if you’re a small fish in a big pond you’re hidden. no one really notices you, everyone looks over your intelligence, talents , and wit. there’s going to be people miles ahead of you and people miles behind you. but in this big pond there are big fish that you can learn from and help you overall grow as a person. so even though you’re a small, you’re gradually improving yourself. you’ve made mistakes and you harness them to your advantage. so yeah”, he continues. “I’d rather be a small fish”. all eyes rested back on the professor who nods his head in agreement. quite impressed with his answer.
“well said heuning. well said”.
he began calling on others but gabrielle kept her mind fixated on kai. there was no way he was attractive and smart at once. she never heard of that before. attractive and rebellious yes. attractive with horrible grades yes. but she never came across someone like kai before. she was intrigued.
"cute right? I think I'm going to ask him out". gabrielle heard a voice beside her while she was walking out of class. the sudden voice startled her a little, she wasn't expecting to be interrupted by anyone especially when she was staring at the boy for what it felt like the umpteenth time. she quickly tried to act like she was looking for someone. "ask who out?". gabrielle asks. the girl nudges her, directing her attention to the infamous rebel at the end of the hallway, talking and joking around with some of his boys. "kai", she nods with certainty, "I think I'm going to ask him to go out with me this weekend or something. then again I probably shouldn't have told you that. you probably were planning on doing the same thing". gabrielle quickly shakes her head no. "I wasn't actually I was trying to figure out which way to go for my next class". the girl curled her lips into a dubious grin of disbelief. "yeah right. you're telling me you're not attracted to heuning kai at all?". gabrielle pushes her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "I never said that it's just I wasn't planning on asking him out or anything". the girl hummed. "yeah well don't tell anyone that I'm planning on doing that. I already know everyone else is going to try to rush to do it before I do". gabrielle fiddled with the corners of her notebook pages. "yeah no problem". and with that they parted ways. the girl went to meet him at the end of the hallway and gabrielle walked past them both, trying to process the fact that kai took a quick look in her eyes before he looked at the girl in front of him.
within a few weeks her newfound friend from her biology class observed her well. especially while they were walking in the quads. it seemed as if gabrielle couldn’t keep her eyes off of him. all the while he kept his attention elsewhere, either horsing around with his friends or talking to them.
“don’t tell me you’re falling for him too”. michelle insinuates.
“too?”,
“heuning kai has enough girls swooning over him that they all could probably wrap around this campus”.
“look at him. you don’t think it makes sense?”.
“well yeah it makes a whole lot of sense but you don’t want to get caught up with him. i heard he’s trouble“.
“what kind of trouble?”.
“trouble. why are you worried? i thought you had a boyfriend anyways”.
“I do but for some reason I just-- I can’t help who I’m attracted to”.
“well you need to. he’s no good”.
gabrielle exhales, listening. yet her eyes peered up at the boy anyways. what a mistake that was. she caught him doing the same thing. no smirk, no smile or anything. just a stare that captivated her enough to where the rest of the world blurred around her. she took heed to michelle’s advice for a couple of days, where she only focused on her school work and seeing what her boyfriend was up to back home. he was doing well and from the looks of his snapchat and instagram stories it seemed that he was having some fun of his own. he too was partying and hanging with friends also. it only made gabrielle think about the other possibilities. how was she so sure that he wasn’t with some other girl? or took interest in someone else? everything was so unclear while she was far away. she never took her boyfriend to be the cheating type. but the both of them were living in two separate worlds now. in his world he was still trapped in his high school lifestyle. but in hers, becoming appealing to heuning kai was all she could think about. and she hated it.
she drains the water out of her hair and fluffs it, throwing a bathrobe on to go to her room and study. she hoped bria wasn’t there because she really needed some alone time to collect her thoughts for a while. and let’s just say bria wasn’t the quietest person to study around. she twists the doorknob of the room and jumped back with shock, dropping her toiletries and clothes right in front of the door. it was heuning kai, relaxing on bria’s bed scrolling through his phone as if he belonged there. once his eyes laid on gabrielle’s he covers them with a hand and turns the opposite direction.
“heuning kai! what are you doing in here?”. “bria told me to meet her in here so she could give me the homework that’s due tomorrow. I’m not trying to be a pervert”. gabrielle squats to pick up her belongings, placing her clothes in her hamper and toiletries on her shelf. her heart was pounding through her ears almost but she tried her best to keep calm.
“well, she should’ve told me that. she didn’t tell you she had a roommate?”.
“well it’s common sense that she has a roommate but she made it seem as though you weren’t going to be here”. he says, speaking to the wall. gabrielle folds her arms.
“you know you can uncover your eyes. I’m not naked”. slowly but surely he reveals them, sliding his hand down his face until it was on his lap. their eyes met again, the same heart wrenching stare that they always gave each other at a distance. the one that made gabrielle just want to pass out right then and there. “why do you always do that?”. she mutters breaking the silence between them. “do what?”.
“stare at me. why do you always stare at me like that?”. she swallows nervously, afraid of the answer. “why do you always stare at me like that?”. he replies. she swallows again searching her mind for a response. how the hell does one tell someone that they stare at them because they want to be noticed without sounding too desperate? she didn’t want to sound that way. even though to an extent, she was.
she turns on her heels to place her phone on the charger, figuring maybe if she avoided his gaze she’d be able to think of something. kai licks his lips before he speaks again. “I like looking at pretty things”. by now her hands were practically shaking. she could’ve sworn he hated her by now. “what’s the matter with just telling someone that you think they’re pretty? you don’t think you’re going to look like a creep by just staring at them?”. kai shakes his head no. “whose to say I stare at everyone?”. she reaches into her drawer to grab some pajamas. she couldn’t believe she was even talking to him. “i thought you hated me”. she mutters. “why would I hate you?”. ,
“that night at diamond’s place. you walked off before I could even give you an answer”. kai thinks for a moment. “you made an assumption about me and brushed me off. and I’m not interested in courting girls who don’t want to be courted. so I left you alone”. “whose to say that I didn’t want to be courted?”. she blurted without even thinking. shit. she probably sounded desperate as hell right about now. “so tell me. what’s it going to be? because I’d love to take a pretty girl out on a date tomorrow night”. gabrielle played with her fingernails wanting to pinch herself. or run maybe. either way the question made her just want to curl into a ball and hide. “tell me who the pretty girl is and maybe she’ll provide an answer”. she shortly replies. kai laughs a little. “the pretty girl is you. go on a date with me”.
“mm - how do I know you’re not some serial killer or something?”. kai laughs again and god, how her heart fluttered at his laugh. “wouldn’t I have killed you already? we’ve been in the room alone for almost ten minutes now”. she nods and giggles soon after. “makes sense”.
“so yeah I have a car, maybe you can meet me at the side building tomorrow night? we don’t have to go anywhere far. downtown maybe”. gabrielle shrugs through the fact that she was practically dying inside. “that’s fine. does seven work?”. kai smiles a little. “seven is perfect”.
“damn kai how long you been waiting in here?”. bria marches in, more than late for the time she arranged with him. “since the time you gave me. by the time I turn this assignment in it’s going to be overdue”. bria playfully slaps him on the shoulder before sliding the homework sheet for him to copy out her folder. he laughs and rubs the spot in pain, “thank you mean ass”. she shoos her hand. “yeah whatever. get out my room I’m tired. did you say hi to my roommate on your way in?”. kai continues sliding his jean jacket over his arms before getting up to walk towards the door. he rolls his eyes. “yes I said hi. didn’t i say hi gabrielle?“. he smirks. she tried her best not to smile too hard. “yeah he did. get out like she said though. I’m tired too”. kai laughs and grabs the doorknob, “fine, I’m out”. bria was flipping him off but halfway between him closing the door he gave gabrielle a little smile that made her heart warm, almost as if to say “don’t forget about tomorrow night”.
which gabrielle hadn’t. hell, she straightened her hair hours prior just to prepare. she was happy that bria was out for almost the whole day, leaving her to get ready in peace. she wasn’t quite sure what to wear but she wanted to be comfortable. so instead of wearing a skirt or halter top she settled on a stylish oversized t shirt look with baggy pants and sneakers. and to be a little more girly, she grabbed a small purse. it was weird you know, just leaving her dorm and not having anyone to report to. not having to tell her mother or father that she was going out. not having to explain that she was going out with a boy and not them not having to meet him. it kind of felt nice and it was kind of freeing. she exhales deeply while walking to his car. he was parked where he said he was, in a car that was pretty gorgeous might she add. out of her dorm and now into the passenger seat of his car was an unbelievable feeling. that’s for sure. “you look pretty”. he compliments with a toothy smile that gabrielle couldn’t stop looking at. her cheeks flush deeply. “thank you. heuning”. he laughs at the name and shifts gears preparing to drive. “heuning”. he repeated. “just call me kai”.
“what if i like the sound of heuning?”. he laughs again. “no one does. but, if you do I wouldn’t mind you calling me that. it sounds cute coming from you”. she exhales for the umpteenth time, “please, with the flirting”. she smiles. he was truly killing her on the inside. “where are we going?”.
“shouldn’t that be a surprise? it will ruin the whole date if I told you”.
“how would it ruin the whole date? what if i want to prepare myself?”.
“you will. once we arrive”. she giggles and settles for his answer although she really wanted to know. cutting through her thoughts though was her boyfriend sending her multiple text messages at once. explaining to her how his day went and asking her how was hers. but while on a date he was the last thing she wanted to think about so she switched her phone to silent mode and shoved it back into her purse. “whose that? your boyfriend?”. kai jokes. she sat there with a frozen expression for a while until kai elbows her a little. “it’s just a joke relax”. he laughs. she tries her best to laugh through it when it really kind of scared her. she hadn’t planned on telling him a thing. especially since she really wasn’t obligated to. it wasn’t like heuning was her boyfriend anyways.
out of all places to take her an ice skating rink wasn’t on that checklist. she had no type of coordination, nevertheless skating in a rink full of pros. “have you ever been ice skating before?”. kai asks while slipping the money to the box office worker to pay for their tickets. he gives her a small thank you once she exchanged them. gabrielle shivers a bit, she forgot how cold the rink could be. maybe she shouldn’t have left her jacket in the car. “I have. i wouldn’t say I’m good though”. once their skates were all tied up kai slips his jean jacket off his arms and positions it behind her. “here put this on. you have to be warm when you skate don’t you?”. she shakes her head, “no it’s alright I got it. I think I’ll be fine”. he chuckles. “just put it on. I don’t want you getting a frostbite in here trying to be modest”. she finally gives in allowing him to slide her arms inside of it. it was much more oversized on her and warmer than any jacket she had in her closet. kai eyes the way the sleeves slip past the tips of her fingers, he thought it looked adorable on her.
stepping onto the ice was a brutal nightmare for her. she had no balance and hasn’t been ice skating in almost four years. before she could slip and fall to the ice in embarrassment kai catches her fall and lifts her back to her feet. “baby steps love. do you want to hold my hand maybe?”. her heart sank at the sound of his voice being so overwhelming when he was much closer to her. and as nervous as she was the last thing she wanted to do was fall. so she obliged. she clutched his hand and took glides with him, trying to get the hang of it but it was obvious that she was only surviving because of him. well kind of surviving. once a little boy zoomed past her it went downhill from there. she immediately lost balance and plopped right down on the ice on her butt. “this shit is embarrassing”. she shamefully admits and kai smiles. he squats down to her level and lifts her to her feet again. “it’s alright you just have to try harder.  do you want to hold my hand again coldbutt?”. kai chuckles and holds his hand out for her to grab. she rolls her eyes pretending to be annoyed with him. “not if you’re going to call me that”.
“okay fine. I won’t. come here stop being a baby”.
she takes his hand again and he guides her around the circumference of the rink slowly. she had her hands in front of her just in case though, trying to brace any future falls. “see? just carefully shift your weight around. it’s not that bad”.
“for you it isn’t. I almost died a couple of times. and you laughed”.
“i wasn’t laughing at you I was laughing with you”.
“I wasn’t even laughing!”. she said aloud with a light chuckle at the end of her sentence making kai chuckle as well. “you and bria must have a grand time together with your matching attitudes”.
“oh please. she gets on my nerves sometimes. how do you even know bria anyway? aren’t you a freshman?”.
“sophomore. and I know everyone”. she scoffs. “oh yeah of course. you’re thee heuning kai“. kai hums. “why are you emphasizing my name like that?”. she shrugs. “that’s how everyone else emphasizes it”.
he swallows. “I’m not what everyone says I am”.
“I figured”.
“you figured?”. she points. “yeah look at your face. you have too much of a baby face to do anything rebellious”. kai chuckles, “what’s that saying? don’t judge a book by it’s cover?”.
“yeah. I’m just saying. why you single anyway? with all those girls after you”. kai shrugs, gripping her hand a little tighter sensing that she was drifting off and on the verge of falling again. “I don’t want them”. gabrielle makes a pft noise.
“what?”.
“you mean to tell me out of all the thousands of girls that want you, you’re taking interest in absolutely none of them?”. kai looks away for a second before looking back down at her. “I’m taking an interest in you aren’t I?”. gabrielle waddles for a second before standing straight up, trying to glide her feet again. “oh please. who said I even wanted you?”.
   “why would you be on a date with someone you don’t want?”. she playfully rolls her eyes. “whatever heuning”. he glides in front of her, facing her and skating backwards, holding her hands that way. “how about we do it like this?”. he starts picking up his pace leaving her dragging with him. “wait! slow down a little”. he grins. “the only way you’re going to learn is if you take risks”. she panics. “I’m not playing you’re going to make me bust my ass on this ice”. he grins a little more and completely lets go of her hands skating circles around her making her dizzy and unstable. she tries her best to stay afloat but every time she looked up he was at another angle around her. she laughs. “stop playing! I’m going to fall“. he laughs along with her and continues his 360 circles until she put out a hand in attempt to push him out her way. he instead grabbed her wrists and leans forward so that she was dangling from his back. “come on hop up”. he coaxes, she breathed watching her breath become frost in the wintry air. "I'm too fat for that. please".
“oh shut up”. he hiked her legs up around his waist and dashed around the rink a couple more times, she had to admit it was fun riding on his back like this. more fun than she thought it would be. it was kind of like she was riding on a sleigh of some sort. she was nervous though, she hasn't really been carried by anyone before and it shocked her that heuning didn't care much about her weight. in a way she felt seen. she felt more appreciated. “heuning if we fall I’m beating your ass”. he chuckles. “why would I put you on my back if I knew there was a chance I’d drop you?”. he turns his head to the side to look over his shoulder at her features, never minding the fact that his lips were dangerously close to hers. she melted into the warmth of his eyes. they were pretty. so were his lips. so was his face. his voice was soothing and he was gentle with her. she turned her head the other direction to keep herself from becoming too flustered. “I’m hungry”. she babbles switching the subject of focus.
she begged for the bill but kai refuse to let her pay for her own food. had she known, she would've gotten something cheaper. but nevertheless the black haired boy was pooling out cash to pay for not only his own but her expensive meal as well. he clutches the tray and stuffs his wallet in his back pocket. he shoves one of his fries in his mouth heading towards the table. “are you mad at me coldbutt? I’m not letting you pay for your own food on a date. what kind of gentleman would I be”. he assures with his mouth full. she crosses her arms again pretending to be annoyed at the pet name. it was cute. she just wasn't going to admit that. “heuning i’m not afraid to fight you. you know that?”. he laughs when he sits down across from her. “so aggressive”. she grabs her slushie cup. “thank you though. you’re actually nicer than I thought you’d be”. he chews on another fry. “am I? thank you”. she carefully dips a nacho chip in it’s cheese. “so. heuning kai. if you’re not the person that people portray you to be, who are you?”.  he pulls a couple of napkins out of the dispenser and wipes the excess cheese from the corner of her lips while she chewed. “that’s for gabrielle to find out isn’t it?”. he finished his sentence with a smile so bright it could've blinded her.
and yeah, i guess you could say bria was right. how dumb was gabrielle to come to college with a boyfriend. every time she had a bit of free time she was out, spending it with kai. she felt like she was in high school again, waiting for his texts and swooning over the selfies he often sent her. she thought about him in her passing time. thinking about how she gotten lucky enough to catch a guy like him. as much as she wanted to deny it she was a bit happier too. god, it felt like she was obsessing over some celebrity. she didn’t want to make love and relationships the center of her college life. she came here to study and do well after all. but she couldn’t help herself.
she scrawls down her biology notes in the cafè with michelle in between classes. she had another class in about an hour or two and she wanted to have some downtime before then. “wait--do you know how to solve this?”. she questions, feeling completely out of focus. michelle eyes her paper and slides it toward herself and nods. she plucks up a pencil so she could show her. the bell at the top of the door chimes and in walks a couple of guys laughing and goofing off with heuning kai following behind. gabrielle’s eyes were soon fixated on his and he notices of course, and gave her a soft smile. she was studying so he didn’t want to go over and bother her. michelle follows her line of sight and scoffs. “gabby are you listening?”. gabrielle nods. “I’m listening I only looked away for one second relax”. she turns her attention back to the paper for a while prior to looking up again, seeing a group of girls surround kai.
he was good looking, it was normal for that to happen. at least that’s what gabrielle was trying to convince herself. but even if she wasn’t fond of the attention he so often got, she had no place to say anything because she wasn’t kai’s girlfriend. he wasn’t required to claim her. technically, he was still on the market. and there was nothing she could do about that.
“I think it could be a good way for you to mingle”. bria spoke in front of the mirror. gabrielle was too lost in her thoughts to listen to her though and once she finally heard the last word of bria’s sentence she jumped. “huh?”. bria turned back to look at her oddly. “girl you okay? you been out of it”. gabrielle sits up and sits her textbook on her lap. “I’m fine. what were you saying?”. “I was inviting you to a party but you seem a little too out of it to come....you sure you alright?”.
“I’m fine I’m just tired. and you know I don’t do parties anyway I already told you that”. bria swings her bag over her shoulder. “well excuse me I was just trying to invite yo-”. cutting through her sentence was a knock at the door. she went to open it and there was kai, hitting her on the head with his homework binder. “bri I need the study guide answers”. she throws a hand on her hip. “when are you going to start doing your own homework? nobody got time to be feeding you sheet after sheet”. she starts going through her drawers and kai rolls his eyes while her back was turned. kai peered over at gabby who in turn was peering over at him. “here. you’re about to make me late”. she handed him the packet and he snatches it playfully giving her a soft thank you. she gives him another eye roll and grabs her phone off her bed. “I’ll be back gabby”. she scurries past kai and out the door leaving him standing there awkwardly in the middle of the room.
“so? how was your day?”. he spoke trying to break the silence. “heuning if you’re going to be into other girls while you’re ‘interested’ in me then we can just stop this”. he exhales, already knowing that was coming. “I’m not into them. I can’t help who approaches me. plus haven’t I told you that I don’t beat around the bush? if i was into someone else I’d just tell you”. he plops down at the edge of her bed. she pushes his thigh with her foot. “whatever”. she turns her body over as if she was preparing to sleep. “aw. you’re jealous?”. he teases. she kicks his thigh a little harder. “stop it heuning”. he rubs her ankles. “my pretty girl is jealous isn’t she?”. she grasps a pillow and hits him over the head with it. he chuckles and caged her body between his arms, hovering over her. she refused to look him in the eyes though. he was much too good looking this close. he twirled his finger around the coils of her hair. “gabrielle. look at me. you know you want to”. he could see the small smile twitch at the corner of her lips. “no I don’t. get out”. he cups her cheek with his hand. “you’re so pretty”. she stifled blushes from rising through her cheeks. she finally turns over with his face just inches from hers. he looked just how she imagined him to be. utterly breathtaking. “I’m sick of you”. she lies, making kai smile. he deposits a gentle kiss on her forehead.
“no you’re not. and if you are that sucks. I wanted to take you out”. she rubbed shapes into his sharp jawline with her thumbs. “hm. where did you want to take me?”. “and why would I tell you that? you’re sick of me remember?”. he teases pretending that he was going to get off of her but she only pulled him back down begging him to stay. “no wait I was just kidding! I was kidding stop”. he laughs at her pleas and takes a glimpse in her eyes. it was moments like this where he enjoyed the silence. the silence that allowed him to admire her in every way that he could. in ways that her boyfriend hadn’t. the butterflies inside her stomach were on a rampage. he leaned in not too far but just enough for her to meet him halfway. he didn’t want to just go for it if she wasn’t onboard. but she was and she meets him with hesitance, shadowing her lips over his. he caressed her cheek with the back of his hand, making the connection of their lips painfully slow. but once they touched, magic was there. electricity sparked through her veins as his lips waltzed upon hers, dissociating her from the world and taking her to another reality. a reality where she was finally living the life she always wanted to live. not being known as the smart chubby girl and finally feeling normal. finally feeling like she deserved a love story of her dreams. whenever he broke away her world shattered. but she was always grateful for him distracting her from life's troubles for that moment.
"you ready to go? love?". he questions while still caressing her.
the burger joint was loud and rowdy but that was expected among college kids. the bar was full with drunk students watching the heated sports games and yelling obnoxiously without reason. gabrielle was grateful that was here at least with kai so it wouldn't bother her much. other than the reprehensible students she enjoyed the vibe of the place. it looked like something straight out of a 90's film with the pink neon glow lights and old license plates and polaroids hanging along the walls. "this place is nice huh?". gabrielle nods across the table from him, dipping her fry in the small cup of ketchup. "yeah it is. how do you find these places on campus?". kai shrugs, taking the tomato off his burger. "when you hang out with upperclassmen they show you the hotspots. I mean other than those drunk ass students over there this place is actually nice". gabrielle laughs. she remembers something. "so? when am I going to find out about you?". kai folds his arms on the table. "you think you still don't know me?".
"no i feel like I don't", she takes a minute to swallow her food, "I think you're too perfect. what's the catch? are you crazy or something?". kai laughs at her accusations. "no I'm not crazy. this is just me. I'm really a genuine guy and I want to start something with you. perhaps a relationship if I could". she hums even though it was kind of inaudible over the roaring music. "why me? that's what really raises a red flag in my head. I remember just a couple of weeks ago, this girl from our philosophy class told me that she was going to ask you out and she told me not to tell anyone. I guess what I'm trying to say is, why not her? why not the others". kai waits until his food was chewed and swallowed before he spoke. "what is with you and these others? I told you I don't want them. and the girl you're talking about is clara. she asks everyone out if you haven't noticed. I'm surprised she hasn't asked you out yet". gabrielle laughs a bit. "I'm sorry It's just I'm not the best looking and I know that. so in my mind me and you just don't make sense". he takes a sip of his milkshake. "gabrielle stop it. you're beautiful and I'm attracted to you. you make perfect sense". her cheeks began to flush but she ignored them of course. "well riddle me this because I'm curious. what do you want out of life heuning?". he gives a half smile and adjusts his seating. "I want love".
"love?".
"yes. why are you shocked?".
"most guys want you know, to be famous. to have lots of money. a big ass mansion somewhere. sexy super model ass wife. a pitbull or two".
"that sounds nice. but is it fulfilling though?".
"well...I'd think so".
"most guys want that because they want their ego to be stroked in every aspect of their life. there's highs and lows in life but they don't want to see the low of anything. no one wants to, really. but you have to. and when you put your ego first before everything, you become nothing. while a garage full of expensive cars and a mansion on a mountain side sounds nice, those things get old. I want something that never gets old. something that's timeless. like love". gabrielle's heart flutters and she got lost in the sea of his eyes again. "so above all else, love is what you aim for?". he nods. "i want to love someone the way I wish someone loved me". there was a swift moment of silence before he spoke again. "how about you? what do you want out of life?". she thoughtlessly shakes her head. "I don't even know how to respond to the question anymore after you said that. I'm very much questioning my morality now". he laughs. "what? did you want money and cars and a hot wife?". he jokes while dipping a fry into honey mustard. before gabrielle could answer she was interrupted by a drunk girl, approaching the table and grabbing the hem of kai's sweater before she sat beside him. "i m-missed yoooou kai", she pouts and leans in, giving him clumsy kisses along his neck. he annoyingly pushes her off. "jessica get off me. you're drunk and you need to go home". she pouts her lips again. "when are you coming back to me?". gabrielle was grateful for another guy reaching for the girl's wrists and helping her out the seat. he seemed to be her much sober friend. "come on we're leaving. leave them alone". she blew kai kisses before she staggered away.
gabrielle kept silent while taking a bite of her burger and wiping her face shortly after. kai only stared at her, sensing that she may have felt some type of way about the situation. "look, she's just an ex. I haven't been seeing her at all". she swallows. "I know, heuning. I'm not angry". that's what she said, but kai felt otherwise. he reaches his hand across the table just to intertwine his fingers with hers. "come on. let's ditch this place I got something to show you". she furrows a brow. "this late at night?". he took out his wallet and pooled out some cash to stamp on the table for their meals. "yeah. it's hilarious trust me".
with the utmost confusion gabrielle takes his lead and his word for it. the campus was rather dark at night with a light here and there but lights were often hard to come by. this is what made gabrielle the most scared while she was running through the woods in the darkened quads with kai, with him tugging on her wrist egging her on. "heuning slow down! I'm scared what if I fall?". she whispered with her heart racing and all she could hear was the leaves and twigs snapping beneath her and kai's moving feet. he chuckles. "you're not going to fall stop being a scaredy cat. we're almost there". she tried to ignore every ounce of fear she withheld until they were finally approaching a small light at the side of a building. she was still catching her breath while she was nearing what looked to be a small window low at the base of the building. kai was crouching down right beside it, waving her over and pushing his index finger to his lips to silence any further noise she made. "I'm about to fucking die". she gasps for air and kai shushes her again to point to the window.
she peaks her head in just a tad bit to see a security guard in the back of an empty library at his desk on the computer. gabrielle shrugs her shoulders. "you made me run through the fucking woods just to show me this?". kai laughs and points again. "no look. look at the computer screen". gabrielle takes another look and scrunches her eyes a bit. her heart dropped at what she saw and she immediately tucked her head into kai's chest in disgust. "ew! that's so fucking digusting". kai laughed at her reaction as quiet as he could. "this old guy watches all kinds of shit. felching porn is his favorite". she shivered at the thought. "I just don't see what's arousing about seeing someone suck semen through a straw out of someone else's ass". kai shrugs and peers through the window again. "to each their own I guess?". she fixed her lips to reply but felt something crawling along her leg and she panicked, she gripped kai's shirt. "heuning! something is on me something is fucking on me". he looked down at her body but it was hard to see any creepy crawlers due to the lack of lighting around. "calm down calm down, I don't really see anything". whatever bug it was had quickly made it's way into the palm of her hand and it felt abnormally large and furry. she freaked out, flailing her body around and in turn kicked the window, gaining the attention of the security guard who quickly closed the tab and got up hastily to go outside and chase after them. "oh shit! come on". kai shrieked pulling her upwards to her feet and tugging her through the woods once again. by now she was wiping her hand on the pants of her jeans running as fast as she could go wanting to just pass the hell out.
sweat trickled down her forehead and she struggled to breathe. after moments of running they were finally out in the open in the quads, which was a terrible mistake because their movement set the sprinklers off. she wanted to get agitated but she couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous kai looked trying to block the projectile shooting water from hitting him when his body was already drenched. "heuning stop you look like an idiot". his hand was still in hers when his feet slipped on the wet grass underneath an oak tree, causing their wet bodies to fall on top of one another. they breathlessly laughed at their efforts of trying to get up but eventually slipping due to how wet the grass and the bottom of their shoes actually were. normally gabrielle would get mad about wetting some of her favorite clothes and wetting her hair even. but for some reason she didn't care. kai sat up on his elbows once he finished laughing, taking a minute to admire her even in the messy, muddy condition that she was in. she removes her glasses trying find a dry part of her shirt to dry them with and he strings his hand through her tangled hair. "you look like a beautiful disaster". he commented with a small grin. she blushes trying not to smile. "yeah well, it's your fault anyway. had me watching an old guy beat his dick to felching porn". kai laughs and pulls her in so that her face was adjacent to his own. he brushed his thumb over the tiny water droplets on her cheeks and waited for her lips like he always had. she got lost again. swept into the sea of his eyes and the heat of the moment, clashing her lips onto his once again.
"girl look, there he goes again". her seatmates jeers in philosophy, watching kai enter the room like she always had. gabrielle continues doodling. "you say that shit everyday. give it a rest". she starts eagerly tapping gabrielle in excitement, "oh shit he's coming over here". by the time gabrielle looked up she saw kai standing in front of her, smiling, plopping his things into the seat right beside hers. it took everyone by shock, gabrielle knew it even though no one had quite said anything. but she knew they were surprised that he was sitting beside someone else today. a girl in particular. "why are you looking at me all weird?". he grins before sitting. "I wasn't expecting you to sit next to me". he dug around in his bag for his utensils and notebooks. he was wearing a black oversized zipper hoodie and a graphic band t shirt. looking just as attractive as he did any other day. "I can't sit next to you? were you saving this seat for your other lovers?". when he said that it made her mind resort to her boyfriend, whom she hasn't texted in a while. she quickly shook the thought out of her mind though and playfully punches kai's shoulder. "oh shut up. you're the only one with other lovers here". kai laughs, "see now you shut up". professor witman finally arrives and sits his things on the desk at the front of the room like he always had. he began speaking briefly about the reading from last night. kai rests his head on his hand. half paying attention to what the professor was saying and half sneaking glances at gabrielle, whose beauty he admired so much.
"girl are you and kai... a thing?". her seatmate whispers discreetly. gabrielle didn't quite know how to respond to that. she keeps a blank expression. "something like that, I guess you could say". she responds but still unsure if that was the right answer either. kai nudges her. "so? you and me tonight at my dorm? what you think?". gabrielle was still doodling along the edges of her pages. "I think it's time that I catch up on my chemistry notes once and for all. that's what I think".
"well after you catch up? take your time it's no rush. my roommate is going to be out for the night so. maybe we can watch movies?".
he raised his intonation like a kid convincing their mom to buy them candy at a candy store. it was adorable to say the least. needless to say, she was at his dorm like he asked that night with no further questions. it was kind of fun being out often to be honest. it gave her a break from her studies at least. entering kai's room though was something she never thought she'd be doing throughout her whole four years here. but here she was, plopping on his bed and gazing around at the posters and decals he had plastered on his side of the room. it was pretty neat to be honest. organized too. "you like it?". he questions while standing in front of the tv with the remote controller in his hand. he was switching through the selection of films. "yeah. to be an active student here your room is actually clean". kai chuckles with his eyes still fixated on the tv screen. "what are you trying to say? that I'm dirty?". she pushes her glasses up a little. "no but--the fact that you have time to keep it neat while doing everything you do. I expected it to be a little messier than this at least".
"you really think I'd invite a pretty girl in my room and leave it messy? you're crazy". gabrielle hums, "so what are we going to watch?". kai grins. "I should make you watch something sappy like the notebook". gabrielle scoffs. "please heuning. let's watch something funny". kai continues flipping until he finally settled on dumb and dumber. he sits the remote down and walks to the bed, grabbing the pizza boxes off his nightstand and sitting them between them. "you can eat as much as you want. I think I bought a little too much". she opens the box and laughs. "boy I'm not about to sit here and scarf down all this pizza. I have enough weight that I have to lose". kai chews into a slice. "where?". she deadpans him before gesturing towards her tummy. “right here. you don’t have to act like you don’t see it. it’s okay”.
“well, I don’t. you think every time I look at you I’m thinking about your weight?”.
“yeah. chubbier people have anxiety when it comes to our weight”.
“I think you look fine. And I’m never looking at you like that so don’t worry. eat all you want”.
“I’m going to throw this pizza at your face”.
kai chuckles at her response. “what? why? why are you so aggressive?”.
“you’re sweet. I don’t know how to respond other than being aggressive. I don’t want the moment to get too soft”.
“just kiss me”.
“heuning, that’s a soft response”.
“I know I just want a kiss from you”. he admits, she thought it was kind of cute the way he asked. “maybe when we’re finished eating”. kai held her to that though and made sure she cuddled with him as soon as they were finished just so he could get the promised kisses. his chest was comfy and warm, and she always felt safe in his grip.
she thought for a moment. “heuning?”.
“hm?”. he hummed with his eyes still fixed on the tv screen. she toys with his hoodie strings. “give me three confessions about yourself. go”. he chuckles but kindly obliged. “okay well 1. I hate math. 2. I have a horrible ‘losing my virginity story’ and 3. I think I’m actually a very lonely person”. gabrielle laughs and perched her head up just to look at him. “okay the first one I understand. but you’re lonely and your first time didn’t go good?”.
“yeah. I mean I have friends and everything but. I just feel like I’m not fully connected with them sometimes. feel like we’re all just there to entertain each other. and as for my first time, well. that shit was a nightmare”.
“I feel you. I know the feeling. It kind of feels like you’re just floating. but I guess that comes with growing up. you just have to find your people. don’t think that I’m not going to ask you to share your story though. I’m curious”.
kai laughs. “you’re right I guess I do have to find my people. so far, I think you’re my person”.
“do you mean that or are you just saying that to distract me from telling me the story?”.
“no I’m serious”.
“well I think you’re my person too heuning”.
kai scoffs, “pft. heuning”.
“hey you said I can call you that. and tell me the story please”. kai playfully groans. “no it’s too embarrassing”.
“it can’t be that bad”.
“how about this? if you tell me yours I’ll tell you mine?”. she reaches up to cup his cheek. “how am I going to tell you mine when I don’t have one?”. kai breathes and brushes his thumb over the back of her hand. “you’re precious gabrielle”. she hums while swimming in his eyes again. “why? because I’m a virgin?”.
“no. you’re just pure. I think it’s precious. don’t let anyone pressure you into doing it alright? It’s okay to wait”. gabrielle nods in a daze. “everyone always says that shit. wait until you’ve found the right person. but how would you even know whose the right person. what if you do it and then things don’t work out with them and then you find the right person later on in life”. kai thinks for a moment. “I think it’ll just happen without thought”. gabrielle chuckles. “don’t be cheesy”. he smiles. “I’m not being cheesy I’m just saying. you’re always being mean to me”.
“aw? are you getting sensitive?”. she playfully mocked like kai always did. “no I’m not I’m just saying”. she walks her fingers up his chest teasingly. “my heuning is sensitive for me isn’t he?”. Kai looked rather cute when he was blushing. a red hue splotched around his cheeks. “I’m not sensitive”. she perks her lips up to peck him on the cheeks which he greatly appreciated since he loved her kisses dearly. they made his heart flutter. “kiss me again”. he begged.
“and just where the hell have you been?”. Bria asked finally seeing gabrielle come into their room after her morning shower. “I’ve been here. you the one that’s been going out. that’s why you don’t see me”. Bria gives her the best ‘yeah right’ grin. she continues tidying up her side of the room. “well since you don’t be doing anything diamond is having people over at her suite again. same crowd. you should come through this time”. gabrielle looks in her wardrobe to find some clothes. she felt kind of weary. “honestly I’m beat. I need to nap or something before I do anything else. I don’t know if I can go”. wait. if it was the same crowd that meant kai was going to be there. she quickly changed her mind. “I’ll try to make it though”. Bria tosses one of her dresses in her hampers. “good. I’m glad you’re being more open to going out”. well she really wasn’t. just more open to going wherever kai was. when she arrived he was sitting on the couch in the living room conversing with a few of his friends. everyone was sporadic as usual, either in the kitchen drinking, in the living room, playing games somewhere, or upstairs. kai was more than happy to see her especially when she plopped down on the couch right beside him.
Bria eyed the way he smiled at her and she grinned. “oop don’t get yourself caught up kai! she has a boyfriend you know”. she blurts while making her way upstairs. gabrielle’s heart dropped and her eyes widened. she was lucky no one else in the room knew what was going on so they continued with their festivities. but kai’s smile disappeared. “what is she talking about?”. she tried to wave it off. “that’s just bria. you know she be saying anything”. the cold look that he gave her right after that line made her world stop. “gabrielle? what is she talking about?”. she swallows before responding. she knew she had to tell the truth or things would be much worse. “I kind of.. have a boyfriend heuning but -“.
“kind of have a boyfriend? what the hell does kind of have a boyfriend mean? how long have you had a boyfriend?”. kai looked sweet when he was smiling but god, when he’s angry he’s lethal. his sharp stare could split her in two. “we’ve been dating since high school”. he clenched his jaw. “so you’ve had a boyfriend this whole entire time? and you didn’t bother telling me? so what were you trying to play me or something?”. she quickly grew nervous. “no it isn’t like that I was going to break up with him I swear”. she tried to explain herself but he was already getting up, making his way out of the house with a slamming door.
good. she felt like complete shit. this is exactly what she needed. she didn't mean for it to all happen like this. she was really going to break up with him but it was hard doing that to someone you've been in a relationship with for years. the party for gabrielle was essentially ruined. she didn't even want to be there anymore. well, she didn't really want to be anywhere anymore. kai hadn't responded to her texts and calls for days on end. even when she apologized. and even when she lied and said she broke up with her boyfriend. nothing worked. seeing him in the quads was quite different now, he didn't make eye contact with her even when she tried to make it with him. instead he continued talking to his friends, continuing on whatever conversations he was having. while they were in the library michelle could sense that gabrielle was a little more off than usual. she finally laid her pencil down and addressed her. "alright gabby. what's the matter?". gabrielle continued writing with her attention on her paper. "nothing I'm fine".
"oh please. you've been more down than usual lately. what happened? what did kai do?".
"he didn't do anything. it's my fault".
"your fault? what did you do?".
"he found out I had a boyfriend".
"gabby? you didn't tell him that?".
"it's not that easy michelle. I wasn't expecting all of this shit to happen. hell, I wasn't even expecting kai to even ask me out".
"you've been hanging with kai for weeks now. you don't think you had time to tell him in between any of those times?".
she deadpans her. "how do you have time to tell someone that? in the middle of dates you think I'm just like hey I really like hanging with you and I'm starting to like you but I have a boyfriend".
"you could've said something. you have his number right? you could've made it easier on yourself and said it through a text message or something".
"but I was planning on breaking up with him. i swear I was".
"either way you should've told him".
gabrielle sighs. shit. she should've. michelle was right. but how would the timing ever be right to tell someone that? her mind was swarming with ideas for how she could resolve everything. she waited patiently after philosophy class. even though her heart was practically pounding through her eardrums she exhaled before she approached him down the hallway. for the first time he didn't smile when he saw her. he looked at her as if she was every other girl that approached her.
"what do you want gabrielle?".
"heuning. I'm sorry. that was wrong of me to just continue on with this without telling you. i wasn't trying to be two timing I just didn't know how I was going to do it. when I'm with you I don't think about him, i forget about him".
"I'm glad then. this time away is probably finally getting you to remember him again?". he spoke calmly while walking away, out of the doors of the building and to the parking lot where his car was. gabrielle followed.
"it's not like that. why the hell would I try to play you? after all you've confided in me, why would I play with your feelings like that?".
"why don't you ask yourself that question?". he pulled open his car door.
"you're acting stupid as shit right now. for real. you should basically know me by now. I would never intentionally do something like that to you".
"why would you go on a date with me if you knew you had a boyfriend? huh? when I first asked you, you knew full well you were with someone. all of this could've been avoided if you told me the truth".
"go on a date?". a familiar voice repeated behind her. she quickly turned her head to see her boyfriend, noah.
"noah what are you doing here?".
"I drove up here thinking that since it's been a while, I should take you out or spend some time with you. I didn't think you'd be up here seeing somebody else".
"noah it's not like that I swear to god. we have to talk".
"this is what you wanted to happen right gabrielle? you didn't want to break up with him and you didn't want to tell me so you got what was coming to you. go deal with that. I have problems of my own to deal with". and with that kai got in his car, pulling off and driving away before gabrielle could say anything else. she shamefully turned back to noah who looked so disappointed that it actually broke her heart.
"you promised me that even while you were away your love wouldn't stop for me. and then you go do this shit. I'm done gabrielle".
"my love didn't stop for you".
"you don't do that to people you claim you love. I hope you're enjoying it here". she stretched her arm to grab his wrists but he shrugged her off and walked back to his car, leaving her feeling absolutely stupid by herself. her face felt extremely hot on her way back to her dorm and she didn't want to look up because she already knew her eyes were rimming with tears.
"girl? you alright? what's wrong?". upon entry bria could already sense that someone was off. and since gabrielle was in the comfort of her room now she figured she might as well let her tears fall. "you remember that night you told kai that I had a boyfriend?". bria nods before a lightbulb went off in her head. she covers her mouth. "gabby. don't tell me he didn't know. ya'll was talking?".
"yes. we've been hanging out for a while now and we've been into each other. I didn't tell him about noah. so when you said that it pissed him off. he didn't talk to me for days and then finally today when I confronted him, noah decides to show up and overhear us. he broke up with me. and now kai wants nothing to do with me because he thinks I was two timing him".
out of guilt bria pulls her roommate in for a hug. "I swear I didn't know I'm sorry that's my bad. why didn't you tell me you and kai was talking? you know I joke around a lot. I wouldn't have said shit if he didn't know".
"I was scared to tell you because I knew you would tease me about it and to be honest I was just ashamed of the fact that you were right. I shouldn't have came to college with a boyfriend if I've never really been on the dating scene before. when kai asked me out I didn't think about any of that shit".
"girl. this is a mess and is one of the reasons why I don't deal with men and their attitudes. and if it makes you feel any better I could understand why you didn't think about noah when kai asked you out. that boy is fine as hell".
gabrielle playfully punched her in the arm with a small laugh. "shut up bria. I know and I feel bad. like why would I play kai? who in their right mind would play kai?".
bria curls her glossed lips into a small smirk. "aw? you're in love with kai? aren't you?".
gabrielle ignores her to keep from blushing. " this is not the time. I just got broken up with".
bria laughs and tugs on gabby's cheeks. "aw my gabby is in love! I'm so mad that you didn't tell me about this. how did this all even happen?".
"I'd tell you if I wasn't in shambles. he probably doesn't even want to talk to me anymore".
"girl bye. I don't date men anymore but trust me when I did, one thing I learned is that if they like you they'll never leave you alone. that boy is just a little mad now. he's not going to stay mad forever".
gabrielle moves a pillow to the other side of her bed. "yeah, well. until then I'm just going to go to sleep. I need a nap after this shit".
"aw. well I'm going to get some food later. you want me to bring you back anything?".
gabrielle shakes her head no while clutching a pillow, ready to drift off. she wasn't keeping track of how long she slept but she just wanted to sleep long enough to where she could forget about everything. or at least to where everything didn't hurt as much. when she woke up her forehead was clammy and her room was dark, not a sign of bria anywhere. she figured she stayed over at diamond's. she turns the lamp on beside her bed and was greeted by a food tray container sitting on her nightstand. she didn't know what was in it but she was grateful for bria. maybe she wasn't as obnoxious as gabrielle made her seem.
she couldn't eat though, not right now at least. she couldn't stop thinking about what happened earlier which kind of pissed her off since she thought sleep could lessen the blow. but her heart ached just as much as it did when she was awake. she thought about what bria said. she's right. if kai liked her then there was no way he could stay angry. with that being said gabrielle discarded every bit of fear she had and threw on more comfortable clothes and made her way to his dorm. it was late so she wasn't expecting him to answer but she hoped he would. she knocked softly and her heart pounded with each knock. she didn't know what he would do or even say if he saw her.
to her surprise there was light shuffling behind the door before it opened, revealing kai in an oversized grey hoodie and messy hair. his face was flushed and he looked as though he were crying too. but she didn't want to make any assumptions. he folded his arms, not expecting to see her at his door at all. "what? what do you want?".
"I know you've probably heard this one thousand times from me but heuning I'm sorry. honestly. what I did was shitty. I should've told you. I only didn't because like I said, when I'm with you I don't think about noah, or anyone else for that matter. when I first moved into this school me and noah made a promise that even while I was away we'd stay together. so when I got here i had no expectations of being interested in someone else. but you make me feel things I've never felt before and I didn't know how I was going to tell him that I fell in love with someone else. I'm in love with you. and I'll admit that". she croaked. she didn't want to cry. no-- she was going to try and stay strong. kai starts swiping her tears away with his thumbs.
"don't cry gabrielle. i wasn't doing any of that to hurt you but I was angry because I thought you were trying to hurt me", he presses a kiss into her forehead. "I'm in love with you too". he pulls her in for a warm hug. "cmon. I have a place where we can go to blow off all of this".
and when he said that gabrielle didn’t think he meant the empty recreation center where the swimming pool and gyms were. once he brought her in and shredded his shirt he dived in the deep end in the shorts he already had on, then swam to the shallow end where gabrielle was standing there poolside with her arms folded, grinning at him. he shook his wet hair and combed it back with his fingers. the pool room was warm and she felt comfort in the fact that it was just them two in there.
“heuning are we even supposed to be here?”.
“why would they leave the door open if we couldn’t? I come here all the time. mainly at night where I can be alone. just to clear my head sometimes. you should come in with me”.
“I’m wearing a hoodie and sweatpants. I’m not prepared to get in. plus I can’t even swim. don’t worry though I’ll just watch you from the pool chairs”.
“just wear my shirt. It’s not scary I promise. plus this water is warm”. gabrielle stood for a moment in thought. he could tell she was still trying to decide. “please? I’ll teach you”.
she swipes his shirt off the ground and playfully rolls her eyes. “fine heuning. fine. turn around”. he smiled at that and turned his body, waiting for her to give him the signal that she was done changing. once she had though he marveled over her features as soon as he turned back around. he hated the fact that she was self conscious about her body. especially when he loved every part of her, and every part of cellulite and series of stretch marks that came with it. his oversized shirt dangled just above her knees and she stood there shyly.
“why are you staring at me like that?”.
“because you’re beautiful”. he walked to the pool stairs and held his hand out for her to grab. she did so and felt her body shudder a little at the sudden contact with water. it was easy to get used to since it was fairly warm. they were already at four feet but she was already getting anxiety thinking about sinking underneath the water.
“we can stay here if you want. we don’t have to go to the deep end”. kai informed leaning back, letting himself float on top of the water. “how do you do that?”.
“what? float? just lay back and relax”.
gabrielle thought about it and positioned her body to do it but she quickly got frightened feeling her head almost sink into the water. kai clutched her body just in time. he was holding her bridal style just at the brim of the water.
“relax. don’t think about anything”.
“I’ll try not to think about how a cute boy is holding me right now”.
“and while I’m holding you I’ll try not think about how a cute girl is swimming in my shirt”.
“other than the fact that it’s clinging to my body right now it’s kind of comfy. I think I’ll keep it”.
“go ahead. there’s plenty more where that came from”.
“sounds like I need to go shopping in your closet?”.
“you’d probably wear my clothes better than me”. kai smiles. “look. you’re doing it and I’m barely touching you”. her eyes widened with excitement.
“wait I’m doing it? Oh my god I’m floating!”. he laughs. “calm down before you sink. you’re supposed to stay relaxed remember?”.
"I'm relaxed I'm just excited!". her voice bellowed off the pool room walls and soon she began to quickly submerge in the water with her frequent movements. she hadn't sunk that deep, maybe a couple of inches or two but water still filled her nose and lungs when she breathed it all in. kai panicked and lifted her out the water and threw her over his shoulder, he walked to sit her on the pool ledge so she could take a break from the water. she was coughing and her nose burned a shit ton, she mentally vowed to never do it again. kai pats her back and consoles her, wondering how everything even happened so fast. "you have to be careful baby I told you to relax". he consoles. yeah, she was still trying to get her eyes to focus on earthly things but her ears were open enough to hear the pet name. she got butterflies when she was finally feeling well enough to look down into his eyes.
"what?".
she shook her head, implying that it was nothing. "you called me baby".
"yeah. because you're my baby".
she blushed. "I am? without permission? you didn't even ask me".
he gives her a gentle smile, taking her hand and hugging her torso from the middle of her legs. "gabrielle? do you want to be my baby?".
"yes. yes I'd love that".
he smiles again, the smile that she loved. there wasn't a delay in the kiss that he gave her, it was swift and smooth and he held her close enough to where the world around her blurred and suddenly there was no noise. just the beating of their hearts together, hopelessly, cynically in love.
after swimming she didn't want to leave him. maybe she found herself a bit attached but she didn't care and neither did he.
"I know you're devising a plan to steal my hoodies so. I might as well donate some to you while you're here". gabrielle shuts the door behind her looking over at the vacant bed across from his. "where's your roommate?". kai digs around his closet. "he's probably at some party or spending the night somewhere". he turns and throws a hoodie at her chest and she catches it promptly. she turned to the mirror and pulled it over her head to see how it would fit. firstly, it smelled just like heuning so she was already starting to love it even if it fit a little big. she turned to the side and posed so she could see different angles of herself as she did with every new article of clothing she had. she didn't notice kai lowkey watching from the side in admiration and amusement. she was adorable in his clothes.
her heart dropped when he appeared behind her. she was too busy thinking about the things she could wear with the hoodie she completely forgot that she was even in his room. he smiles sweetly at her through the mirror. "you look so cute". it was hard for gabrielle to keep trying to hide her reddening cheeks so this time she embraced it. she embraced him. she embraced the fact that no matter what she thought she looked like, kai would always see her differently. she embraced the way he embraced her. "thank you heuning". she mutters, meeting his stare. it wasn't a creepy stare but rather wholesome, he saw paradise in her eyes even if it was through a reflective piece of glass. for the first time in his life he felt something. he felt a connection. and she felt his hands encompassing her waist and his lips sprinkling soft, heedful kisses along the expanse of her neck. gabrielle drew in a sharp breath, observing it all through the mirror ahead. she reaches her hand up and allowed it to entangle in the damp curly strands of his hair. her head tilts back a bit further, giving him the opportunity to kiss the places that he abandoned. her heart was pounding but she no longer cared. the butterflies in her stomach was wrecking her much harder. she tilted her head back enough for him to look into her eyes again before swooping in for a delicate kiss that rippled fireworks through their veins. they were stuck like that for a while, enveloping in each other's warmth while their lips moved en masse. it was was one foot after the other until they fell onto the bed, giving themselves to the ardent love that they were yearning for.
when gabrielle awoke the next morning she faintly remembered falling asleep on kai’s chest but it was hard to remember much of anything with the yelling that was ringing through her ears. her eyes flickered open to see that she wasn’t cuddled with Kai anymore but instead gripping a pillow, and kai was at the door arguing with some girl whom she couldn’t see.
“can you quiet down? you’re being too loud”. kai exclaimed, wanting to just shut the door on Jessica’s face.
“no! no I’m not lowering my fucking tone for what?! you need to hear me. shit everyone does. you’ve taken this too far! you need to tell her already!”.
at the sound of her words gabrielle leaned up a bit rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. “tell me what? heuning? what’s going on what is she talking about?”.
when kai looked back at her a guilty expression was drawn across his face. he looked as if he wanted to say something, he just didn’t know how. “It’s nothing gabrielle”. Jessica pushes his room door open and storms past him, approaching the bed where gabrielle was. “Jessica stop”. kai warned. but she ignored him and gave gabrielle an angry gaze anyway.
“kai never liked you. he never wanted to date you or any of that shit. since you rejected him the first time he made a bet with his friends that he could get you to fall in love with him and then sleep with you. all this shit is a lie”.
gabrielle clutched the blankets with her stomach churning and hands growing clammy. the walls around her seemed as if they were closing in and there was a large lump in her throat. she darts her eyes over at kai who was still wearing the same guilty expression from earlier. “heuning? what the fuck is she talking about? is it true?”.
“gabrielle”.
“tell me the fucking truth heuning kai”.
he swallows, just wanting to disappear. “it was true at first but—“.
before he could continue she felt sick to her stomach. she was upset beyond measure and instead of staying and listening to another lie she throws on her shoes and grabs her clothes, making her way out of the residence hall and into the quads. such a bright warm day contrasted the way she was feeling. her body was on fire and she didn’t know if whether she wanted to cry or go completely numb. she knew she probably looked stupid staggering through the crowded quad full of students in the midst of their Saturday festivities. gabrielle couldn’t even make it fully out the quad until she felt lightheaded and fell to her knees, puking her feelings onto the blades of grass. she couldn’t believe him. she couldn’t believe he would do something like that to her.
she hadn’t known that he followed her, stopping at a distance once he saw her throwing up. “gabrielle none of that shit is true anymore. here let me help you”. he reached his hand out but she spoke quickly with her stomach heaving. “don’t you fucking touch me heuning kai”. she wipes her mouth and dizzily stands to her feet, giving him the deadliest stare he ever saw in his life. fear and guilt washed over him. “gabrielle you have to believe me”. she draws a hand back and gifts him a stinging slap across his face. one so loud that it drew the attention of everyone surrounding them. kai was stunned, shocked even. he held his cheek in pain.
“that was such an asshole move I should’ve known. I was told to stay away from you and that you’re nothing but trouble but I decided to give you a chance because I thought that’s all that you probably needed. a chance to show someone who you really are but now I fucking know who you are. a lying piece of shit who doesn’t give a damn about anyone but himself”.
“gabrielle—“. he tries to grab her wrist but she swiftly pulls away. “I fucking gave myself to you. that’s something I vowed to do only when I felt like the timing was just right and you took advantage of that didn’t you? you got a kick out of knowing that I was a virgin freshman didn’t you? you’re such a bitch it isn’t even funny”.
“no you didn’t let me finish it was true at first I’ll admit that. I’ll admit I’m an asshole for even devising a plan like that but all of that changed once I met you gabrielle. I fucking forgot about the plan. I meant everything I’ve ever said to you. I want you and I’m so in love with you I can’t even put it into words. please. you have to believe me. I’m sorry”.
she shook her head in annoyance, unable to even withstand the sight of his face.
“fuck you, heuning kai”. she made those words her last before she turned on her heels to cut through the crowd, vowing to never speak to him ever again.
Can you write what Majima's wedding day would be like 🥺👉👈
Ooh I’ve wanted to write about this for a while in fact. 👀 I fully believe that unlike Saejima, who’d want a traditional Japanese wedding, Majima would lean more towards something low-key and modern, maybe he’d even want to just elope and call it a day.
But, as I’ve discussed before, if the marriage has any hopes of working, his spouse has to accept all of him, yakuza and bloodshed included... and he has to agree to share his whole life with them too.
So then, maybe a ceremony that introduces and includes his partner in the clan could work. And since I felt inspired... mini-fic below! 💗
Over and over, he runs a shaky hand down the back of his head, as the tailor circles him like a hawk. The two other men sitting behind him are also watching intently, following the old craftsman’s gestures — a tug on a sleeve here, a tightening of the seam there. It’s been going on for the past 20 minutes at least and he’s starting to get restless.
“Jeez, ya sewing me into this thing? I ain’t even the bride,” Majima grumbles.
“Seein’ how ya like to rip yer suits clean off, what’s an extra stitch or two, kyodai?”
“Hey, least I ain’t bustin’ through them just by bendin’ over,“ he quips back, making eye contact with Saejima through the mirror.
Normally he’d try to imitate his bro at this point, make a show out of flexing his slim biceps to the point where you could, maybe, just barely, make out their outline through the fabric. It’s the best you can when you’re not built like the big tiger. But he knows today isn’t a day to play the clown.
“Apologies, sir,“ the tailor speaks, fastening Majima’s sleeve button again, for the tenth time after he’s fiddled it undone.
“I’m almost finished. You haven’t had a new suit fitted in years, I want to make sure everything’s perfect as it should be.”
Well, come to think of it, there hasn’t been much reason to visit the old man’s shop lately. Snakeskin jackets are in constant supply, so much so that he doesn’t even have to call for a re-order, they simply deliver a new one right to his office every month or so. And as for suits... it’s not like he gets much use out of those, outside of the odd stuffy meeting Daigo makes him attend.
Heh. It pleases him to think that for once, the tables are turned and Daigo’s the invitee. Closing his eye, Majima can almost picture him pacing solemnly around the reception hall, chatting to Kiryu-chan or intimidating the hell out of every Majima family member, through his attendance alone. Maybe he’s getting to know the star of the ceremony, the one the boys already reverently call “ane-san”. Or maybe she hasn’t taken the stage yet, still busy getting fretted over, same as him. After all, that dress has gotta be just...
“Perfect. Right ya are. Y’know, I figured an occasion like this could use some new threads.”
And not the kinda fancy outfit you wear once and never again. Rather, something sharp and stylish and versatile. Attached to a memory, like all his costumes before. Only this one he’s determined to keep a pleasant memory, more comforting and symbolic than even the ring he’ll be hiding under his glove from now on.
He’s deep into daydreaming about how one day he’ll be wearing this same suit to his son or daughter’s wedding when Nishida, who’s been sitting quietly all this time, breaks the silence.
“Are you nervous, oyaji?”
“Haw? No way!” He smooths through his fresh undercut again, like a man who’s definitely at least a little bit nervous.
“I mean, it ain’t like I’m gettin’ cold feet, it’s just... “
“Not your everyday yakuza event, right?” Nishida offers.
Yeah. It’s not exactly a Tojo clan get-together, but it’s not your average wedding either. Tonight the guest list for large banquet hall at HQ skews much more eclectic: a handful of officers (the ones he can trust), some old friends like Kiryu, the chairman of course. There are no mother in laws or other relatives to speak of. Blood ties matter little. The former Sunshine girls, with Yuki at the forefront, make up the only other feminine presence apart from the bride and Majima can only hope they’re not already busy fending off advances from the more smooth-talking of his men. In fact, he’s not just hoping, he’s looking forward to putting them in their place, if need be. For all the Majima family youngsters, who’ve never even snuck a peek inside the Tojo walls before, this event is as much a treat as it is a test.
He blinks twice to dispel the haze that’s taken hold again.
“Man... who would’a thought an old hound like me would be turnin’ into a family man? Well, the other kind of family man,” he muses, picking his cufflinks as his new fidget toy. He can’t see it, but the other men exchange a glance that confirms they’re all in agreement: Majima was always “the other kind of family man.”
There’s only one more finishing touch to place — the bowtie. But as the tailor moves to loop it around his neck, Majima slips it from his hands.
“Gimme that.”
In over 20 years, not a soul has spotted Majima Goro wearing a bowtie, but somehow his fingers are uncannily skilled at tying it, a fact that doesn’t go unnoticed. They barely have time to comment on it though, because at once he turns around, beaming.
“How’s it look?”
“Handsome as always, oyaji!”
“Ya look... happy” Saejima mirrors his smile. “And handsome,” he concedes.
“But if yer ready... don’t keep her waitin’.”
Oh, Majima’s ready all right.
There’s Never A Right Time
This story is inspired by Say Goodbye by Chris Brown. I was in my feels and had a nice dramatic set of ideas that made me feel like writing angst. It’s a one shot because I have commitment issues with finishing my fanfics in case you guys haven't noticed.  It will be a pretty long fanfic. Here is the teaser. Hope you guys enjoy!
Summary:
Jungkook hadn’t thought about the woman he had left for a long time. He had gotten secretly married to her and all it took was a shadow of distrust to make him abandon her. If the world questioned the sanctity of her character, then the world had to be right. Right? He hoped he was right at least. Because if he wasn’t , he had lost the best thing that had ever happened to him in his life. As he continued to work as a top idol, artist, and entrepreneur time went by. He had other women but they never lasted long in his life. When he attended an award show with the rest of the members, he saw a girl there. Another artist. Definitely someone he knew he had never seen or heard of before. Who was she? Something about her was familiar. Maybe her eyes. And then it struck him, making him go as cold as a corpse. He had seen those same eyes somewhere else alright, in the mirror when he looked at his own reflection every morning.
TEASER
The lady stood in front of him and the other members. She exuded a powerful aura, regal and dignified. These qualities were rather an unusual combination for idols, especially Korean idols so he was a little starstruck. Something that was rather unusual for any member of BTS to feel. She couldn't have been more than 18 years old though based on her appearance. The girl must be mixed race because she had very unconventional features for an idol. She had dark thick curly black hair that trailed to her hips and her skin reminded him of strongly brewed milk tea. The even more startling features were her plush lips, a prominent straight nose graced by a diamond stud, and double lidded eyes fringed with what seemed to be thick eyelashes.
She was sporting an unusual outfit as well; a customized skirt and bra set that he only saw gypsies and belly dancers wear. A gold belt adorned her waist sitting lower on her hips with a diamond belly piercing highlighting her lithe , toned figure. He couldn't stop looking at her because strangely enough something about her was familiar.
He made eye contact with her accidentally and what he saw made his heart palpate against his chest. He had seen those same eyes every day of his life in his mirror. Her doe eyes were too similar to his own. They say that eyes are a mirror to the soul, but her eyes were a mirror to his own.
Who was she? He felt a stir of panic as their eyes met and she bowed down low. She was of average height, but her presence seemed to envelope the room since other well known artists,  idols, and staff greeted her politely. The stage director came near her bowing. To Jungkook’s surprise , she spoke in fluent Korean though she seemed to be a foreign artist.
The stage director and the girl were a few feet away from BTS when the stage director exclaimed , “How is your mother doing Cha-ya? She must be worried since you have only promoted up til now in the US, Thailand, and India. Are you having a comfortable time adjusting over here?”
The girl’s eyes lit up in glee as she responded with a little chuckle, “It has for sure been a different experience than the U.S. and India for sure. The stage is so organized and everything is so close by for promotions. I am enjoying it to the max. Mom told me to eat well and sleep 8 hours a day. You know how doctors are like. She’s constantly checking in on me to see if I am stressed out. Saiyan and Arang are also being such worrywarts since this is the first time I’ve been here.”
The stage director continued in mild surprise, “Are they your brothers? I thought you were an only child ?”
She guffawed in a cacophonous fashion which made several idols and artists look her way, in awe and confusion. Jungkook thought that she was a rather different type of artist. Very uninhibited by social norms. Clearly she had not been brought up in Korea.
“Director, we are actually triplets but both of them were born a few minutes ahead of me so they insist that they are my older brothers. We are very tight knit and they will be coming to visit soon. Saiyan is a pretty popular model right now and so he will be finishing his Engineering degree at Washington State and rush over here for Seoul fashion week. Arang on the other hand finished his MBA/Medicine dual degree, so he will be managing a chain of Health and Wellness Resorts over here. “
The director’s jaw slid open in an exclamation. He sputtered in disbelief, “ How are all of your siblings so well studied and managing jobs like that? You must be the only sibling purely in entertainment.” The girl deliberated for a second before responding, “Mom made sure we all had solid educations before pursuing these types of careers. She is always skeptical of fame, and she brought us up to be extremely disciplined, stable, and loyal individuals. I am actually finished with my course in Law (focus in international law) ,but currently all that is stalled for the time being because of my activities in entertainment.”
As Jungkook was hearing this conversation along with the other artists in the room who were curiously eavesdropping as well, the Director continued in awe, “Your mother seems to be an extremely strong lady. I knew she was a doctor  who seemed extremely rich and well off, but she must literally be a goddess to give birth to such high achieving kids. What about your father, what does he do?”
Cha-ya scoffed with a quizzical, somewhat bitter look, “He actually left her before we were even born. We found out who he was when we all finished college. Our mother made sure our upbringing was never lacking. We saw him a lot on the Korean and world news growing up but never knew that he was our dad. You know,  he is someone whose popularity never fades strangely enough. He sold his soul for fame, so it is to be expected perhaps.” The director looked so intrigued and invested as he prodded for more info, “ Who is he? Definitely we would know who he is? Is he a singer, actor, businessman in the industry over here?”
Cha-ya’s entire expression became rigid and mask-like as she replied in what seemed to be a disinterested tone, “ We do not consider him our dad, so neither my brothers, nor I would like to claim him. He was a sperm donor. That is the long and short of it. Who he is, is as irrelevant as what today’s weather forecast is. He betrayed my mother and trusted the world over her. She went through so much pain just to be by his side. And when she thought the pain would end, he left her. I have to be on stage, so if you will excuse me now Sir.”
 She side stepped the director and went closer to the entrance of the main stage. Jungkook could feel the bile and vomit rising to his mouth. She had been pregnant when he had left her? He had three kids, that he never knew anything about? This grown beautiful artist was his daughter?And he had two more accomplished sons?  His parents had grandkids? And how the hell did she brith triplets?!! Wouldn’t her vagina tear ??????!!!
 His world was crashing down on him as the rest of BTS stared at him with stark grief painted across their faces. They all remembered her name, it was unforgettable.
Before he could process anything, he heard the booming noise starting up on the stage. Wait, wait up a minute! This track was the most popular pop/ rock release of the year all over the US. He saw his daughter he never knew he had on stage in an elaborate headdress dancing with precision and fluidity on stage. She had no backing track, the other idols could tell. This was live. Only one artist sang with no backing track in all her performances this year in the US. She was on MTV and all other award shows, becoming sensational, l hitting all headlines for singing with no backing track usually acapella . Shadow, that was her romanized name, but in all Asian countries she went by Nee-Da.
She had risen to the top for the past 3 years for her herculanean work ethic , creative marketing/business acumen. She was known for her cutthroat ruthlessness in the music industry, mostly aided by the fact that her mother was known to own and manage the world’s most innovative new security system, Poison. He did not know what to be more shocked about at this point? How could he not have recognized her? Seeing her in real life was different from seeing her on stage with all the makeup and ornamentation on.
She was the pop-star of the era, a business mogul with a net worth of close to 300 million dollars at such a young age due to her clothing and makeup line. She was his daughter. How could this even be possible? Jungkook could feel his identity crisis coming. How did he birth the most iconic popstar of this generation, who as of now hated his guts? What scared him even more was the realization of who her mother was.
The lady he had left, the woman he could never forget even in his dreams was her mother. And her mother owned the world’s scariest personal security company, Poison. The company had revolutionized personal security by founding a bracelet and many other gadgets that created magnetic repellant force fields around individuals. It was notorious for being marketed only towards woman and could only be activated when the device recognized the XX chromosome, so the device would never protect men.
Basically, women all around the world who had these devices now had a programmable magnetic forcefield around them which shielded them from the outside world. Firearms, Tasers, and aggressors were all repelled by this technology. Women could safely walk out in the middle of the night as long as they had a device, which was continuously made affordable at its very inception by the reclusive owner of the company.
With this  technology ,the owner instantly became the most powerful business woman, icon, feminist, that the world knew. That is in fact all the world knew. That she was a woman. But nobody knew anything else about her, she was an elusive person who didn't show up to most media events. Her personal motto was that the products advocated for themselves. Her financial officers and other company higher ups showed up in the media, but she never did. Most people in the world didn't even know how this woman looked like, because of how reclusive she was.
All people knew was that she was Cha-ya’s mother and that she had two other kids.
What Jungkook got to know that made him almost go into a stroke was the sheer fact that Cha-ya’s mom was his Y/N. The one whose heart he had broken years ago.
Y/N was a billionaire of gargantuan proportions, a net worth that made his look like chump change.  His daughter was the iconic popstar of the century, someone whose craze and popularity surpassed his own in his heyday. Which meant that his son Saiyan was the new model who had just walk in Paris Fashion Week as the face of Armani. The same one that Jimin’s daughter had raved about the other day. Which meant that his son Arang became the CEO of the exclusive wellness resort, Ellysium , a resort only catered to the richest of the richest. All this calculations overwhelmed Jungkook to the point that there was only one reasonable outcome. He fainted.
Hey There Delilah | Misfits Timeline Anomaly’verse
an oc x oc collaboration between @seanfalco & @super-unpredictable98
Word Count: 3.2k Warnings: Language, Violence Summary: When the quad runs into Win’s step-sister on the street, things get heated and Lydia stands up for herself and Win.
[ masterlist ]
——
"I can't believe the sun is actually out today, I feel like I haven't seen it in like forever," Win exclaimed, a grin stretching her face as she slipped her hand in her Nathan's and Lydia's, swinging their arms as she walked, looking more carefree than they'd seen her in days.
"Yeah, I feel like I was starting to go into vampire mode at this point," Lydia laughed, excited to see Win so happy.  "I just hope my hair is okay, if the dye gets messed up I'm gonna punch someone."
"As long as it's not me," her Nathan mocked.
“Ooo you’d be a sexy vampire though,” Win pointed out with a laugh.  As they turned the corner however, her grin faltered and disappeared.
"Shit..." Lydia mumbled under her breath, her gaze following Win’s.
"What?  What'd I miss?" Lyddie's Nathan looked around confused until his clone nodded pointedly at the approaching blonde with a nasty aura and even nastier attitude.
“Delilah,” Win greeted tersely, her whole body tensing.
“Win,” she replied, wearing her usual fake smile.  “What are the odds?  We just saw you on tellie the other night.  Didn’t know your man had a twin—“ she said, eyeing Lyddie’s Nathan appraisingly, “—or that you were into that sort of thing.  But damn, I should have given you more credit,” she mused.
It took Lydia every single ounce of self-control not to jump on Delilah's neck when she stared at her fiancé like that.  It also didn't help that she remembered in detail all the pranks, the rumors, and the teasing from when she was younger.  She never really understood why someone would be so mean to a 12-year-old.
"Hey how's it--" Lyddie's Nathan began, only to be cut off when she elbowed him.  "Okay," he mouthed apologetically.
“Oh yeah, definitely into that,” Win replied acerbically, though she wore a rather wry smile that didn’t reach her grey eyes.  “Plus, this is my girlfriend too,” she said, pulling Lyddie closer to press a kiss to her cheek.  “The sex is amazing by the way.  Three at once will blow your mind.”
Delilah merely rolled her eyes.
"Definitely," Lydia held back her laughter, taken by a sudden fit of confidence.  "It's a little demanding to have so many orgies, but it's definitely worth the effort.  So glad you were able to see us on the red carpet though, it was so much fun, you should've been there."
“Oh, you thought I’d be impressed?” Delilah scoffed, eyeing each of them in turn.  “I was gunna say, you’re actually more of a slag than I thought, Win.”
Win’s Nathan snorted, cutting in before anyone else could, his arm tightening protectively around Win’s waist, though he grinned lightly.  “Aww someone’s jealous,” he pointed out.  “Can’t exactly be a slag when you’re technically in a committed relationship with all your partners, but y’know.”
"Jesus, you're a bitch!" Lyddie's Nathan laughed.  "How long has it been since someone gave you a good seein' to, love?  Sounds like y'need it."
“Why, you volunteerin’?” Delilah countered, smirking at Lyddie’s Nathan and Win groaned.
"In your dreams."  Lyddie's Nathan was ready to start a fight.
Lydia's blood was boiling, she knew this moment would eventually come, they couldn't avoid Win's family forever, but she never thought Delilah would be just plain rude like that.  "Better to be a slag than an envious cunt who bullies kids, but that's just me..." she murmured quietly, half hoping no one would hear it.
The situation was clearly escalating and Win didn’t exactly want anyone throwing punches... even if Delilah deserved one.  “C’mon guys, we’re gunna be late,” she said pointedly, giving Lyddie’s hand a tug.
"Yeah, let's go..." Lydia pulled her Nathan with them.  She was anxious to get out of that situation, she hated confrontation, but something didn't sit right with her.  "You know what?  No, the time I used to let people walk all over me is over!  I'm gonna go there and teach that bitch a fucking lesson!"
"Lollipop, there might be photographers..." her Nathan warned.
"I don't give a flying fuck!  She can't talk to my girlfriend like that, hit on my fiancé, dump a bucket of piss on me, and run free!"
"She did what?" he winced.
"Lyddie, trust me, if anyone wants to slug Delilah, it's me, but..." Win trailed off, shaking her head.  "I don't want any of us t'end up back in Community Service over this… or worse.”
"But baby... Community Service wasn't that bad," Lyddie argued.  "Am I still that scared little girl who's just gonna run away from a bully?  Nathan..." she looked for support from Win's Nathan, who grinned.
"Oh I agree, I mean, other than th'whole murderin' our probation workers and all that, Community Service wasn't all that bad.  Besides, I never woulda met yeh otherwise, Win baby," he exclaimed.  "Plus I bet Lyds would look hot as fuck punchin' that twat out."
"It's three against one, sorry," Lydia turned around to go after Delilah.
"Jesus..." Lyddie's Nathan followed her, wanting to at least make sure she didn't get hurt, but who was he kidding, she was a human fortress.
Win groaned, not moving for a moment, watching the others. "Alright, alright," she mumbled, reluctantly following after.
"Hey, hey there!" Lydia shouted when she spotted Delilah's tacky outfit in the crowd.  There were some people around, but she didn't care.  "I think you owe us an apology!"
Delilah turned around, frowning.  "Oh, y'think that do you?" she scoffed.  "I tell ya what, why don't you hold your breath."
Lyddie's Nathan let out a high-pitched laugh, thinking about how ironic it was that she actually didn't need to breathe that often with her power.  "Listen, I don't know who you think you are, but you can't talk shit about people and expect nothing to happen.  So, you can either apologize to my girlfriend and to me, or we can do things the hard way..." Lydia flashed the girl a hollow grin.
Delilah rolled her eyes.  “Oh, the hard way huh?  What are you?” she scoffed.  “I’m not afraid of you.  Scamper off now,” she exclaimed, making a shooing motion with her hand.
"What am I?" Lydia chuckled, fueled by rage.  "I'm your worst nightmare, bitch."
"Okay, that was kinda hot..." her Nathan whispered, nudging his clone's arm.
Win’s Nathan raised his eyebrows at Lydia’s fiery comeback.  “Yeah... that’s definitely hot,” he agreed, eyeing Win as she held back, watching.  He knew how much she hated her step sister, so he wondered what was going on inside her head.  Why wasn’t she saying anything?  He thought she of all people would be in Lydia’s place.
"Just do yourself a favor, apologize to my girlfriend and to me, so we can move on and you won't go home crying to your mummy," Lydia tried to sound threatening, but it probably came off more as mockery than anything else.  "And chop-chop cause we don't have all day, y’Paris Hilton wannabe."
Delilah’s mouth fell open and she turned back to face Lydia.  “Are you seriously threatening me right now?  No, I’m not gunna apologize to you or my slag of a step sister.  You call me a wannabe?  Look in the mirror, sweetheart.  You think you’re hot shit because you’re some singer.  Who gives a damn?  You’re tacky is what you are.  Your boyfriends are average and your girlfriend is a fucking slag who’s slept with half of Wertham by now.  She’s such a fuck up her own dad wants nothing to do with her.”
For a second, all Lydia could do was laugh, thinking that had to be some kind of joke, but as she stared deep into Delilah's eyes, her anger grew.  Without thinking twice, she tackled the other woman, which was easy taking in consideration that Lydia was taller.
"Some singer?  Some singer who just won album of the year, bitch!  What have you done?  Huh?  Didn't leave mama's house yet?  If my boyfriends are so average why do you wanna shag them so bad?" Lyddie shouted, pinning the girl to the ground while her Nathan tried to glamor them so no one would see it.
"What you've done to me… you made my life hell on Earth, but I don't give a shit about that.  You take back the things you said about my girlfriend!  She's not a slag or a fuck up and if her dad doesn't want anything to do with her than he's the stupid one!"
"Get off me you stupid bitch!" Delilah shrieked, trying to push Lydia off.  "I don't know what the fuck you're talkin' about!  I didn't do shit to you!  Winrey!  Get your crazy girlfriend off me!  You think my mum's gunna let you get away with this!!"
Win's lips curled evilly, but all she did was cross her arms over her chest. "Sorry, D, you brought this on yourself," she murmured.
"Your mum can talk to me instead, how about that?  So I can tell her that her daughter has been bullying children!  I know what you did to Blossom Bellamy, remember her?  You and your friend Karla decided to fuck her entire life up last year?" Lyddie's Nathan swallowed thickly, he didn't understand why he was so turned on when the situation was quite serious.
"Why do you care about Bellamy?" Delilah cried, confused as she continued to try to fend Lydia off, getting a few good swings in herself.  "Jesus, you're fucking crazy!  Winrey, I swear to God, I'm gunna make your life a living hell if you don't get this bitch off me!"
"I care about her because she's a defenseless child!  You traumatized her for life, you fucking monster!  And you're doing the same mind terrorism with my girlfriend, I won't stand for that!" Lydia's self-healing was coming in handy at the moment, whenever Delilah hit her, she barely had time to feel the pain.  "I'm not scared of your mum, or your dad, or whoever the fuck you’re gonna cry to!  Good luck telling everyone Lyddie Young did this to you... See who's gonna believe it."  Lydia punched Delilah square in the face, drawing blood.
Win raised her eyebrows, but she looked more bored than anything, enjoying watching Lydia get her revenge, even if she knew this would probably come back to bite her in the ass.  She knew Karen wouldn't let this go.  Her Nathan glanced down at her however, sensing an underlying tension and he placed his hand on her shoulder, squeezing lightly. "Win?"
Win tensed further at his touch, but she didn't look at him, just kept her eyes on Lydia and Delilah.
"Yeah, well, now I'm gunna go to the fuckin' police!" Delilah was crying now, tears streaming down her face.  "You're not gunna get away with this!" she sobbed.
"Good luck finding your witnesses, princess," Lydia taunted, ready to throw another punch, but her Nathan lifted her up as you would do with a kitten.
"That's enough, that was worth an apology and a half," he said, holding his fiancé tightly in his arms.
"Can you make my fingerprints vanish?  Don't leave a single trace of me on her," Lyddie whispered.
"Yeah yeah, leave it to me..." he snapped his fingers.
"Are you alright, baby?" Lydia turned and finally noticed Win's face.
Win nodded slowly, her gaze flicking past Lydia and Nathan to where Delilah was pushing herself up as people walked past, as if not even seeing her.  "Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine," Win answered, a hollowness to her voice, making her Nathan frown slightly.  "It was good to see you tackle her," she chuckled, sounding a little more like herself.
"I did it for you," Lyddie wrapped her arms tightly around Win.  "I know you're tense, but relax, she got what she deserved... I'm fine, see?  Not one scratch."
"Jesus, that was... I wish I had a camera, where's Barry with his stupid phone when we need him?" Lyddie's Nathan grunted.
"Y'know you have a phone, right?" Win's Nathan pointed out with a laugh as Win wrapped her arms around Lyddie.
"I'm glad you're okay, I never doubted you for a moment," she murmured.  "I'm not sure what's up with me," she admitted.  She'd wanted to take out her frustrations on her step sister for so long, so she couldn't understand why she felt so strange.
"So do you!  I was glamourin' them, what's your excuse?" Lyddie's Nathan stuck his tongue out.
“I-I don’t know!” Win’s Nathan exclaimed, giving his clone a playful shove.  He still felt worried about Win.  He knew something was going on with her, he just didn’t know what.
"Well, maybe we should get to our movie, yeah?" Lydia pecked Win's lips before dusting herself off.  "You guys are gonna love Percy Jackson, it's not as good as the musical but still..."
“Right, yeah, the movie,” Win exclaimed, letting Lydia pull her away down the street.  It was just as they’d gotten to the theatre, Lyddie getting their tickets that Win’s phone rang and she flinched as she looked at the screen.  “It’s my dad...” she murmured, looking to her Nathan.
“D’you want me t’answer it?” he asked softly.
"Hey, guys, I got tickets!  Are you ready for some lightning stealing demigods and young Logan Lerman action?" Lydia squeaked as she joined the rest of the group.  "I can get us popcorn and... what happened?"
"It's Win's dad," Lyddie's Nathan explained.  "The Wicked Bitch o'the West must've told him."
"Do you want me to take it?" Lydia asked, feeling suddenly courageous.
“No, it’s fine,” Win exclaimed, biting her lip.  She was half tempted not to take it at all, but she knew that would only make things worse.  “I.. I can talk to him,” she said, though it wasn’t very assuring.
"Put it on speaker then, this way you don't have to do it alone," Lyddie held Win from behind, kissing her cheek.  "Don't be scared, we're here for you, Winnie baby."
Win nodded, taking a deep breath.  “Yeah, that might be for the best,”she murmured, accepting the call and holding the phone out so the others could hear. “Hello?”
“Winrey Jane Lewis, is it true?”
“Is what true?” she replied, her dad’s voice full of disappointment more than anger.
“Did you and your friends assault your sister?” he asked incredulously.
“She’s not my sister,” Win grumbled stonily.  “And no, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Win, please.  Don’t test me.  She sent us a picture, she’s bleeding and covered in bruises, and she said it was you and your boyfriend and some girl.  Now is it true?”
Lydia tried not to laugh at the image of Delilah sending a picture to Win's dad to show how messed up she was.  Come on, Lyds, this is serious! "I don't know what this is about, do you know what this is about, Natty?" she covered her smile.  "There were some security cameras around, you can always check them..."
Win’s Nathan nodded, glancing back toward where they’d come from.  Spotting a couple traffic cameras he snapped his fingers and gave a flourish, a focused look on his face before turning back to them.  “This power comes in awful handy,” he mused.
“No, dad, I don’t know what she’s on about.  She musta... tripped and fell on her face or somethin’.”  There was a long pause as her dad sighed and Win could just imagine him running his hand down his face in exasperation.  “She is rather clumsy...” he replied slowly, though he knew it was a lie.
"How awful of her trying to pin this onto us..." Lydia fake cried, while high-fiving Win's Nathan and blowing him a kiss.  "She must be imagining things."
"Truly, truly horrible..." Lyddie’s Nathan whispered, laughing against her neck, while she tried to slap him away to hear the conversation.  Oh, she couldn't wait to tell Simon she was finally able to give that bitch a beating, he was gonna be so proud!
“What I’m more worried about... Winrey, is it true what she said... about you dating three people at the same time?” Win’s dad asked reluctantly.  “You know how I feel about the one you brought over here, but we saw you on tv the other night and Delilah...” he cut off with a heavy sigh.  “It doesn't sound natural!”
Win grimaced, unsure how to answer.  Of course she was dating three people at the same time, two of which were technically the same person.
"Hey, hello sir," Lydia took the phone when she noticed Win's discomfort.  She was really on a roll, after getting a taste of blood she wanted more.  "Hi, Mr. Lewis, I'm Lyddie, your daughter's girlfriend.  I can assure you there's nothing unnatural about our relationship at all... actually nature is pretty non-monogamist if you think about it.  You don't have anything to worry about really..."
Win bit her lip as Lydia took the phone, but her Nathan wrapped his arms around her waist, leaning over her to kiss her cheek.  “It doesn’t matter what he thinks, love,” he whispered in her ear and she nodded reluctantly.
Win’s father heaved a heavy sigh on the other end of the line.  “I just... I just want her to be happy,” he admitted, sounding torn and Win snorted.  It almost seemed like he wanted to say more, but held back, not wanting to be rude to Lydia.  “Just... don’t attack Delilah again.  It could have been a wind up, she’s pulled those before to get what she wants, but if it happens again, I don’t think I can hold her mother off.  Alright?”
"I can guarantee, sir, we're making Win very happy," Lydia winked at her, trying to make her feel better.  It seemed like living with two Nathans was slowly rubbing off on her.  "Besides we're all pacifists, we would never attack Delilah, we had a very civil conversation, that's all.  But you might wanna look into your step daughter's behavior, you know the name calling, the mean pranks... you might have a certified Veruca Salt on your hands, Mr. Lewis."
“Oh, he knows he that,” Win muttered, taking the phone back from Lyddie.  “He just has no backbone.”
Putting the phone to her ear she sighed.  “There, you happy dad?” she demanded.
“Not really,” he answered with a huff.  “I wish you’d come home—“
“That place is not my home,” she cut in.
“I’m home here with Nathan and Lyddie and...” Shaking her head she changed the subject. “Unless you wanna make more of an effort.  Piss off.”
“Wait!  Winrey, I lo—“ She ended the call before he could finish, a strange look on her face.
“There, now that that’s done, we’re probably late to our move,” she scowled.
"No, baby, we probably just missed the trailers... and even if we are a little late it only gets interesting after Percy goes to Camp Half Blood anyways, come here," Lydia pulled Win into a hug, waving her hand so the Nathans would join. "I love you, Winnie, if Delilah wants to set her mother onto us, so be it, but I'm not scared of anyone... Not anymore."  She thought for a second and huffed a laugh.  "Well, maybe I'm scared of some people, but not them."
A small smile spread across Win’s lips as she slipped her arms around Lydia, burying her face in her chest.  “I love you too.  You were pretty amazing today,” she murmured, feeling more arms envelope them.
She was right.  This was her home, these people, and the fierce amount of love she felt for them gripped her stronger than before.
Wedding Gifts - Jumin Han
Y’all I’m so sorry this isn’t gender neutral :( but I planned this out and it’s very specifically fem MC I’m sorry if that’s a disappointment! If it is, send a request my way and I’ll work something up for you :)
Summary: On the day of your wedding, Jumin finds out you don’t have a something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
The day had finally come. Admittedly, you hadn’t been dating for that long before you and Jumin got engaged, nor did you spend too long in your state of engangement; Jumin was eager to get married to you, and the same went for you.
He wanted you to feel like a princess. The custom wedding dress from a prominent fashion designer, the hair and makeup team, somebody in to do your nails, Jaehee getting paid three times her hourly wage to help out with the big day (in addition to her being a bridesmaid) he had everything in check.
Once your hair and makeup was done, you heard a knock at the door. You sent your maid of honor over to make sure it wasn’t Jumin, and in sauntered Zen, a bouquet of flowers in his hand. “Happy wedding day!” He cheered. You stood up from your spot to pull him in for a hug. He set the bouquet down very gently. “You look stunning. Maybe you can make silver spoon speechless for once.”
You couldn’t help but laugh. Although Zen and Jumin were closer now, that didn’t stop Zen from constantly poking fun at your fiancée. “You wanna see the dress?” You asked, leading him toward the door where it hung from.
His jaw dropped. “It’s really nice. I mean, I’m not surprised he’d get the best of the best for you but... wow, it’s really nice.” He brushed his hair off his shoulder. “You’re gonna look great. Everything’s gonna go perfectly.”
“I hope so,” you muttered, eyeing the dark clouds out the window. You surely hoped it wouldn’t rain, as your ceremony was outside.
“Hey, where’s your something blue?”
“My what?” You asked, turning to face Zen.
“You know... something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. It’s like the foundation of the bride’s outfit.”
“I’m pretty sure that’s just a superstition,” you huffed. You hadn’t even thought of that, but it was nothing to stress yourself out about. Today would be perfect.
He laughed. “I’m sure you’re right. Say, you’ve got his present you wanted me to deliver?” He asked, holding out a hand. Right, that was why you called him here in the first place. You had gotten Jumin a pair of socks (in case he got cold feet) and wrote him a cute little note. You were certain he was nervous, and something from you would definitely help. You grabbed the white box and handed it to Zen.
“Tell him I can’t wait to see him,” you added, a cheeky grin on your face. You were counting down the minutes until you could get married. Unfortunately, you still had a little over an hour, but it was getting pretty close.
“I will. You keep getting ready. You’re gonna look great,” he smiled, giving you a reassuring wink before heading out.
You hadn’t meant to have gotten ready this quickly. Fortunately, Jumin had sent in a pianist to play some music for you and your bridesmaids to pass the time. You let your eyes close, sipping on your glass of water (no drinking yet, you wanted to remember every second of the night), and allowing the anxiety to wash past you.
Another knock. “Special delivery!” Zen called, entering the room with a canvas bag. He plopped it in front of you with a sideways grin. “I shouldn’t be surprised. He got these for you, wants you to open them before you go out there.”
“Zen! You only have twenty minutes. You better start getting ready,” you exclaimed, eyeing his jeans and baggy t-shirt. Upon this realization, his eyes widened and he fled the scene.
You had to get into your dress pretty soon, but you’d open the gift first. A letter on top.
My love,
I’ve heard from Zen that you forgot to get your “something old, something new,” etc. Truth be told I didn’t know it was a tradition until about an hour ago. Of course, it is just a superstition, but I want to ensure absolutely nothing could go wrong today. So, I’ve collected some items for you. I hope you enjoy them.
Your soon to be husband,
Jumin Han
You let out a laugh. You couldn’t help it. It was no surprise Jumin would worry about something like this. There were four boxes. You picked one at random, excited to see what he had picked out for you. You were surprised to see only a letter in the box.
Something new: your wedding dress, custom made for you and I’s wedding.
Simple enough, and a valid choice. He had spent how much money on that dress? He told you not to think about the number so you stopped yourself. Anyways, that would be your something new.
The next box you opened had a letter and underneath, a pair of sapphire drop earrings that looked vaguely familiar.
Something blue: a pair of sapphire earrings. I had Assistant Kant find out what earrings you had planned to wear today and get the same style but with a sapphire. I hope you do not mind the change. I tried to keep it as close to your original plan as possible.
He was so over the top and extra. Nothing surprised you anymore. Points to Jaehee for figuring out what earrings they were and somehow acquiring a sapphire version in less than an hour. She’s superhuman, you’re convinced.
Next present! This one also only had a letter in it.
Something old: your grandmother’s ring. I recall when we attended the first RFA party together, you told me about your grandmother’s engagement ring and how you wear it to every special event so that she can be there with you. I’m certain you’ll be wearing it today and she will be watching over us.
You couldn’t help but feel your eyes water. You had so wanted for her to meet Jumin. It had been years and years since she passed, but she had been tour best friend: nobody could replace her. You vowed to take her ring to all your events so that a part of her would be with you. It made you feel special and comforted. You looked down at your right hand, the ring on your middle finger and smiled. He was right, as always. He truly did know everything about you.
You took a glance at the final box, giving it a light shake and hearing something rattle. You opened it to find a letter and... what was that?
Something borrowed: My Love, I struggled with this one. Believe it or not, Assistant Kang did not have any appropriate accessories for a bride to donate to the cause. Zen offered to give you his belt, but how would that have helped? It was quite a frustrating turn of events. Finally, V noticed that we could use Yoosung’s hair clips. Hopefully they can be incorporated into your updo (as Zen claims you have) to help keep it secure. Unfortunately, Yoosung’s hair will be out of place, but to promise order and love in our relationship for the rest of time, he was willing to make such a sacrifice.
You giggled, imagining Yoosung in his suit with his hair all in front of his face. You considered sliding the pins into your hair on your own, but decided against it when you realized how quickly you could ruin the style. The hair stylist incorporated them so that they peaked out but did not stand out. It was perfect. Your next step was getting into the dress. The way it flattered your body perfectly, flowing at the exact right length (Jumin had all your measurements memorized at this point, so custom ordering was simple), it was stunning. You put in your earrings and looked over your reflection in the mirror.
One more ring would change it all. A simple, single wedding band would change you from yourself, a typical person living the average life, to the spouse of a millionaire, director of a large company. To the parent of a cat, the parent to kids someday, to somebody’s other half. And you couldn’t wait.
Not Like In The Fairy Tales (But Just As Beautiful) (Crygi/Jankie) - Chaoticnachokitten
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/27419959
A/N: Heyy:)) I wrote this a few months ago and completely forgot to post it lol. Thanks to @cryshillz for giving me the idea for it and @aqtanawrites for beta-ing<3
Summary: Crystal is just your average high school student, (well, maybe except her makeup and outfit choices), friendly, dreamy and fairly popular. All she wants are her friends, One Direction songs, and maybe a fairy tale esque relationship. Everything would be perfect if it wasn't for that one girl that keeps staring at her with an expression that could kill...
Literally just your typical enemies to lovers high school au:)
It was 6am on a rainy Monday morning. Crystal woke up to the sweet tunes of 'What Makes You Beautiful' by One Direction. She had the habit of using a different One Direction song as her alarm clock every day.
Especially on Mondays she just needed a bit of extra motivation to get up and get ready for school, and that particular song never failed to make her smile, including today.
She slowly got out of bed, and walked up to her closet. It was a beautiful mess of almost offensively bright, colorful clothes. Crystal firmly believed that wearing as many colors as possible was helpful to stay positive all the time. 'Plain' or 'simple' clothing was something she liked to pretend didn't even exist.
Once she was done with picking out her outfit for the day, she went into her bathroom, preparing for her favorite part of her morning routine: her makeup. Firstly, she washed her face, and then applied some products that would hopefully protect her skin from what she was about to do to it. Then, she tried to find all of her needed makeup products. Unfortunately, she had a habit of trying out new looks constantly, and for some reason her products ended up being scattered in the entire bathroom. Her parents had given up on trying to keep the bathroom organized at this point.
After finding everything she needed, which were approximately 50 products, including tons of her beloved glitter, she started with her time consuming but fun painting, blasting her OD playlist to stay in a good mood. Her thoughts drifted around for a bit, eventually settling on the memories of how her high school had tried to get her to dress 'appropriately' and to stop her 'clown like' makeup. At first the teachers had assumed that she would get teased because of her looks, but they had been very wrong. Crystal had such a fun and loveable personality that no one really said anything negative about her, in fact, the only people who teased her about her makeup were her best friends, who obviously didn't mean it. Crystal was friends with just about everyone, except one person.
Crystal quickly tried to think of something else, she didn't want to ruin her morning by thinking about the only person she didn't like.
So, after the teachers had realized that no other student would tell her to stop with her makeup, they tried to threaten her by sending her to the principal's office multiple times. But, since she kept arguing about how she needed to express herself, and because her grades were good, the teachers gave up and her style was tolerated eventually. At least her art teacher loved her creativity.
Crystal checked herself out in the mirror one last time. Her long, curly hair was brushed nicely, it looked all shiny and soft like usual, she was wearing a full face of makeup, around three times the amount of what an average student would wear, and her outfit complemented her makeup nicely. Afterwards she went on her way to her high school, which happened to be just a few minutes away from her home. As always, she had her earphones in so she could continue to listen to her playlist, which she had named 'positive vibes'.
Before entering the big, old, dull building, she removed her earphones as electronic devices were strictly forbidden and had to be stored in the school bags, otherwise a teacher had the right to take them away. It was a stupid and annoying rule, but other than about her personal style, Crystal didn't like getting in trouble, so she just accepted it.
Crystal's morning had been pretty good so far, but of course, the first person she saw in the hallway was the one she didn't like. Her name was Gigi Goode, and, Crystal usually didn't like to swear, the only word that could be used to describe her was a complete bitch. Now, sadly, Gigi was gorgeous, everyone was jealous of her looks. Even after a long P.E lesson she still managed to look perfect, not even a single makeup particle out of place. Gigi exclusively wore expensive makeup and clothes, always looking like she was about to be on the cover of Vogue or something. Not only that, but she was smart too, a straight A student, nothing less ever. She regularly engaged in class, the teachers often used her as a good example. But beyond that, Gigi was also the most conceited person Crystal knew. She seemed to lack any kind of empathy or friendliness. The only thing she seemed to care about was herself and her reputation.
She wasn't really friends with anyone, everyone was intimidated by her. She didn't seem to care for friendships anyway. But Gigi just seemed to hate Crystal for no reason. Everytime Crystal was near Gigi she looked at the ground to avoid the look. Gigi liked to glare at Crystal like she was something unsightly, like a stain on her clothes or a disgusting bug or something along those lines. Nothing out of the ordinary, except today, if anything, Gigi looked at her with an even meaner expression than usual.
"Maybe her favorite brand of lipstick got discontinued,"  Crystal thought to herself as she searched for her friends, all she had to do was follow the sound. And sure enough, just a few meters away she spotted Jan and Jackie, who were talking about something. Jan seemed to be even more enthusiastic than usual, and Jackie looked slightly concerned.
"...it's a genius plan, I promise! And very easy to execute. We have to show them that they just belong together."
Jan was nearly screaming the last sentence, loud enough to hear clearly for Crystal who was just waiting for their conversation to end as she didn't want to interrupt them. But then, Jan saw Crystal and monitored for her to come.
"Genius plan? Jan, look, I love you very much, but the last time you said that, and canceled our movie night for it-"
"You're still mad about that?" Jan asked with a hint of amusement.
"Let me finish. Last time you had one of your 'genius ideas' you broke into the school with Nicky to save the frogs we were meant to dissect in biology."
"Well, obviously my plan worked because the frogs are now free, and we didn't have to dissect anything!"
Jackie sighed, fighting the smile caused by the adorableness of her girlfriend, and shook her head fondly.
"And I'm very happy about that. However, you and Nicky got detention for a whole month and only very narrowly avoided legal consequences. And you were grounded forever!"
Jan looked at Jackie with huge eyes.
"But..the frogs..they were worth all of that."
Jackie looked at Crystal who had just been listening to the fairly weird conversation. Though that kind of stuff wasn't uncommon for Jan and Jackie at all.
"Crystal, I'm dating an idiot."
Crystal just laughed and then shyly looked at Jan. The girl looked back at her with mock anger. Then she turned her attention back to Jackie.
"Oh, so I'm the idiot now? I would like to remind you of the time when I was still grounded, and you decided to do it like they do it in the movies and attempted to climb up my house to get into my room through the window, just because you wanted to see me..it's not like you see me at school literally every day."
"It was Saturday. And we spent some..quality time that day."
"That was after I quite literally had to pull you up myself after you almost fell down."
Jackie was about to respond when the bell rang as annoyingly as ever, announcing that the first class was about to start. Jan, Jackie, Crystal and, unfortunately for Crystal, Gigi were all in the same class. Jan attempted to leave, but she was pulled back by Jackie.
"No girl, no skipping classes anymore. You'll just get into trouble again."
"But..." Jan started.
"No buts. You're coming with us. Do you need a bit of..extra motivation?"
Jan smirked, getting the hint, and then nodding excitedly.
Jackie hugged her, and then placed a kiss on Jan's soft lips. A few seconds later they were full on making out.
Around a minute later the bell rang again, and the two of them broke apart. Jackie looked at Crystal, who was now staring at the ground, blushing, apologetically.
"Crys, oh my God, I'm so sorry you had to witness that."
"You're not sorry," Jan disagreed.
"It's fine, I'm used to it by now, I know how gross you guys are," Crystal smiled.
"Anyway, let's go, otherwise we'll be late for class," Jackie said in a slightly nervous tone. She hated being late.
Jan sighed.
"And I'm dating the teacher's pet."
Before Jan could try to run away again, Jackie grabbed the girl's hand and dragged her along.
On the way to class, Crystal couldn't help but feel jealous of her friends. Jan and Jackie were just such a cute couple. It wasn't like she was attracted to either of them, it was more that she had the desire to experience the same kind of love they had for each other. She wanted that kind of fairytale fantasy cute relationship, with the occasional playful teasing.
The three of them finally reached the classroom, just in time. Crystal sat down in her usual spot, and got out her needed school supplies. Since the teacher surprisingly wasn't there yet, she checked her phone, scrolling through her social media. Since there wasn't anything too interesting, she switched it off soon again and looked around for a bit. To her horror, she noticed that Gigi was looking at her. But something was weird about it. Crystal could have sworn that Gigi had looked at her with an almost friendly expression...probably as friendly as Gigi was able to, before using the look again. A few seconds later Gigi looked away again. Crystal missed that Gigi was blushing.
Crystal suddenly felt like she had invaded Gigi's personal space. It was stupid, but she felt her face heat up. To try and calm down, she ran a hand through her hair to fix it, even though nothing was wrong with it in the first place before opening her notepad, and started doodling tiny flowers and animals in it so she had something to focus on.
Just when she had calmed down enough to feel as comfortable as she could while being at school, the English teacher entered the room, greeting the students. Crystal looked up for a minute, listening to what the teacher was talking about, before going back to doodling. She was almost always more focused in class while drawing. It was accepted by most teachers, and a real blessing in art class.
Today was different. For some reason, she kept thinking about Gigi, and the way she had seen the unusual behavior of her today. It honestly wouldn't have been a big deal at all, but she had never seen Gigi without that I-accidentally-bit-into-a-lemon glance, and instead looked at Crystal like she was an actual person. Thinking about it caused Crystal to feel an odd, but definitely not unpleasant sensation spreading from her heart. Could it be..?
"No. No, definitely not, not her," she told herself before forcefully turning her attention back to the teacher.
"Okay, so today we'll start with a new topic: presentations. They are very important, you will have to do one in pretty regardless of where you want to work in your later life. Now, we'll work on your confidence first, therefore the topic of the presentation will be up to you. And because teamwork is very important as well, you'll work in groups of two."
The teacher noticed that Jan had raised her hand.
"Yes, Jan?"
"How about we get paired up randomly? Later on in our life we don't get to choose either who we'll have to work with, so this might be some good practice."
The teacher nodded, impressed by Jan's level of maturity, and surprised because the girl usually didn't participate that much.
The rest of the class seemed okay with that idea as all of them got along quite well. Jackie looked at Jan with a surprised look, Jan smiled at her before mouthing "all part of my plan, don't worry."
The teacher resumed.
"Great idea, actually, thanks Jan. Okay, everyone, please take out a piece of paper and write down your names. Then fold it and bring it to my desk."
Jan raised her hand again.
"Yes?"
"Can I please read out the teams?"
"Yeah, sure."
The next few minutes were spent by people asking for paper and pens and then writing down all of the names. Jan hastily scribbled the three letters of her own name before turning her attention to Crystal. She was writing down her name on that obnoxious rainbow colored paper she adored, making the next step of Jan's plan easier.
Then she looked at Gigi. She was using some expensive art paper she usually used to draw gorgeous pictures on. It even felt expensive, so spotting it later on shouldn't be too hard either. Jan couldn't quite believe that her plan was going so smoothly.
Jackie was ready to bring her paper to the teacher's desk, but Jan stopped her before she could do so.
"Wait, I want to be paired up with you. Mark it with a smiley or something," Jan whispered.
Jackie smirked before doing so.
"Fine, miss we-should-work-with-different-people-to-gain-new-experience."
"You'll understand later."
After every piece of paper was on the desk, Jan mixed all of them up to keep up the illusion that every pair would be selected in a fair and completely random way..
Crystal felt someone looking at her. When she looked around, it was Gigi once again. This time she was sure she had seen Gigi's initial expression which had looked almost dreamy before she was back to looking mean again. When Crystal didn't look right away again, Gigi even looked insecure for a split second before hissing "what the hell are you looking at?" before looking away herself.
Crystal was shocked. Had she just seen the usually overly confident Gigi Goode looking...insecure?
She didn't even have time to process everything that had just happened as Jan, who had already paired up quite a few people, called her name.
"Okay so Crystal and.."
Jan tried to make it seem like she was just randomly picking out a piece of paper.
"Gigi."
Crystal's jaw dropped. She didn't dare to look at Gigi. That was the worst team she had ever been in. She was shocked to the point of shivering. She felt her blood running both hot and cold at the same time. And just when she had tried to reason that she could just do her part of the assignment alone, and would just have to do the presentation with Gigi, the teacher spoke up again.
"To ensure you'll actually work together, you will get a grade as a team instead of individual ones. Before you can go, please note that you now have one week to prepare. Since I already wrote down the teams, please don't change them up again. Okay, that's it. Goodbye, see you all tomorrow."
Everyone except Crystal packed up and got ready to leave. Gigi, for once, looked unsettled and left as soon as she could in order to keep up her usual act and not show any emotions. Crystal, on the other hand, was too shocked to do anything other than staring off into space. This was officially the worst day in her life. There was no way she would survive working together with someone who looked like she was about to stab Crystal as soon as they were alone.
Jan pulled her out of her almost trance like state by waving her arms in front of Crystal.
"Hey, are you okay? You don't look good, you're so pale out of the sudden."
Crystal looked at Jan desperately.
"Okay?? No, I'm not 'okay' at all. In case you missed it, I have to work with Gigi out of all people and I can't switch partners...what am I going to do?"
Jan decided to act like she was sorry. In her opinion that drastic measure was necessary to make Crystal and Gigi talk for once, and hopefully that would be enough to make them see that they like each other. Jan had seen the way Gigi looked at Crystal when the latter wasn't aware of it, and she knew that Crystal had a hard time noticing and admitting that she liked someone, due to the fact that she once had her heart broken badly before, and it had taken lots of time and support from her friends to get over it. So, complaining about someone more often than usual was Crystal's way to try and suppress her feelings.
"I'm so sorry Crys, but I'm sure it's going to be fine. And if she's mean to you, I'll make her pay for it, I promise. In fact, I still have that weird hair dye that's supposed to dye your hair purple, but it turned mine green and it took an eternity to get it out again, remember that?"
Crystal forced herself to giggle. She did feel a bit better knowing that Jan would help her if things didn't go smoothly.
"Thanks, Janice, I appreciate it. And honestly, the green didn't look that bad. Besides, you obviously care about green frogs enough to risk legal consequences, so dyeing your hair to match them is just the natural next step."
"I probably shouldn't have told anyone that story, but I would have never thought that saving countless innocent lives would ever be used against me, at least not that frequently. But anyway, ready to leave now?"
Crystal sighed. She really didn't want to see Gigi anymore, at least today.
"What are the chances of Jackie killing you for skipping class one more time with me?"
Jan laughed.
"Unfortunately too high to risk it. Besides, you won't be able to avoid her all week, and if you don't want a bad grade you will have to work with her. Once again, I'm very sorry."
"Okay, fine. And don't apologize Jan, it's not your fault."
Jan had to suppress a smirk. If only she knew..
The rest of the school day surprisingly wasn't that terrible. Gigi didn't look at Crystal at all, not even once, instead she was fully concentrated on engaging as much as usual in each class. Crystal on the other hand didn't care about anything else that moment, she was trying and failing to come up with a way that would make working with Gigi okay. And she sure as hell wouldn't be the one to start the conversation. Since Gigi wasn't satisfied with anything less than an A, she probably would be the one to approach Crystal anyway. Hopefully.
When the school bell rang again, this time to indicate that the day was over, Crystal couldn't wait to get home, she carelessly stuffed her school supplies into her rainbow colored bag and nearly stormed out of the school without even saying goodbye to any of her friends. For once she didn't care about being nice and polite, she just wanted to go home, crawl into her bed, cry, listen to music, and ignore the world around her until she would feel better.
But today some higher force seemed to have something against her. Once she was back home, laying in her bed comfortably, surrounded by her plushies, she decided to check her phone before listening to music. It turned out to be a big mistake. She saw that she had received a message by an unknown number. Usually she would have just ignored and blocked it, but she couldn't. The number had a profile picture, and Crystal immediately recognized it. A pretty girl with perfect skin and shiny brunette hair. Gigi.
She decided that she deserved a break from everything that had happened today, so she turned on airplane mode so she wouldn't be disturbed by anyone anymore, put in her earphones once again, and then clicked on her playlist. She proceeded to close her eyes, trying not to think about anything, just listen to the music instead. She wasn't able to calm down though, even after 30 minutes of trying. The message she had refused to read out of fear earlier seemed to be haunting her. She decided to finally read it.
'Hey, it's Gigi.
It seems like we'll have to work together. I'm sure you're just as interested in a good grade as I am, so I think we should talk things out. Hating each other while trying to give a good presentation will probably not work out, plus we haven't even decided on a topic. So come to my place at 6pm, here is the address.'
Crystal checked the time. She had about an hour left. According to Google, getting to the location would take 45 minutes. She didn't want to make Gigi mad now that it seemed like they would maybe be able to finally work their problems out. She hastily jumped out of her bed, and ran into the bathroom to touch up her makeup as soon as possible.
Thankfully it wasn't terribly smudged or anything, so she was able to go on her way just a few minutes later. That way she would even have a bit of extra time in case she didn't find Gigi's house or if she needed some time to prepare herself mentally for actually ringing the doorbell, which was very likely going to be the case. Crystal had a pretty bad sense of orientation.
Meanwhile, Gigi was anxiously pacing around in her room, checking her makeup and outfit every time she passed a mirror. She had a lot of them in her room. Gigi knew that she was a mess on the inside right now, so it was even more important for her not to show it on the inside. She hoped that her facade that she had built up over the years was enough to hide her emotions from Crystal. The truth was, she wasn't as confident as she pretended to be. In fact, Gigi was a very insecure girl, afraid that someone would see right through her, able to tell just how weak she actually was on the inside. She was scared that people would make fun of her, so she just pushed everyone who tried to befriend her away. Being friends with people had never worked out in the past, instead she had been used and then she had been left with low self esteem and trust issues. Eventually she decided she wouldn't get hurt by people ever again, and that was when she started wearing expensive clothes to intimidate people and flawless makeup as it made her feel like a completely different person, beautiful and confident. Her makeup was like a mask for her as well, a constant reminder that she needed to keep up her facade to remain safe.
Gigi's thoughts were interrupted by the piercing sound of the doorbell. She checked her makeup for what seemed like the 100th time that day, and then went to open the door.
"Hey," Crystal greeted her, looking as nervous and anxious as Gigi felt. For some reason it made her feel better.
"Hey. Thanks for coming. Come in." Gigi managed to keep her usual cool tone despite the fact that she was extremely nervous.
Crystal did as she was told. Unexpectedly, Gigi's house was both huge, almost as big as a mansion, and the furniture looked extremely expensive and beautiful. But since Crystal was also a nervous mess, she wasn't able to focus on anything properly.
Gigi led her into her room (a gigantic one, beautiful and organized, girly but not at all kitschy) and monitored for Crystal to sit down on her bed. Crystal, again, did as she was told, it was her only option as she couldn't even think straight. Gigi carefully sat down next to her. She didn't look at Crystal because she felt like she would break if she did, and instead stared at her ceiling.
"Okay so, I guess I'll explain why I behave the way I do around you. The truth is, I don't hate you. I know you think I do, but I don't. In fact, I'm jealous of you."
Crystal couldn't believe her ears. First of all, Gigi talking about her feelings? And most importantly: How could Gigi Perfect Goode be jealous of her? Crystal bit her tongue to remain silent, the question was burning on her tongue, but she felt like talking wasn't a good idea right now.
"You're so lucky. You get to be yourself. You can wear and act however you want because you're so cute and loveable and everyone wants to be your friend."
Did Gigi just call me cute?
"You don't know what it means to constantly act like a bitch to keep people away from me. And all of that because I'm scared. I'm so scared of being judged. Of being used, of being hurt. I can't handle another person lowering my self esteem to the point where I can't leave the house anymore. It took me months to get where I am today. Why do you think I check my hair and makeup every few minutes? Why do you think I keep staring at you?"
Gigi was getting so emotional that she had to stop talking as her eyes were starting to get as glossy as her perfectly applied lip gloss. She tried taking deep breaths to calm down, but that just made everything worse.
"This is so stupid, I'm sorry…"
"Gigi, please don't call your emotions stupid. It's okay to express your feelings,you've been ignoring them for far too long already. I promise I won't tell anyone. And I know what being hurt feels like, believe me, and being able to talk about my feelings helped me a lot."
Perhaps it were Crystal's words, perhaps Gigi's feelings were too much for her to bottle up anymore, but just a minute later she found herself bawling her eyes out while Crystal had her arms wrapped around her in a protective and comforting way that Gigi actually felt like it was okay for her to cry and let out everything. It was weird, they didn't even really know each other, and surely she wouldn't have expected the meeting with Crystal to go like that at all, but strangely enough it felt so right.
After a solid ten minutes of crying, Gigi was finally starting to calm down. She decided that now, since she had told Crystal her secret already and she had also cried in Crystal's arms, which had probably ruined her pretty makeup/ facade, she had nothing to lose anymore. She freed herself from Crystal's grip, cupped the girl's face, and proceeded to kiss her like she had been wanting to for months. She was fast and aggressive, all of her emotions went into it.
Crystal didn't even think, the kiss felt more than right, so she kissed back just a second later with the same intensity to match Gigi's energy.
It wasn't like the start of her dream fairy tale beginning of a relationship, quite the opposite, actually. Gigi was still crying, Crystal's face was getting wet from the tears, but in that moment she could have cared less about the 'perfect' start of a relationship. What she had right here was just as perfect to her, if not more.
After what could have been seconds, minutes, or even days, both of them were blown away by the intensity of the moment that time didn't matter anymore, they slowly broke apart.
"Crystal I'm so sorry. I didn't know what came over me," Gigi started all of the sudden. She was breathing way too fast.
"Shh, calm down. My only question is, did you mean the kiss? Be honest."
Gigi nodded, looking away.
"I meant it too when I kissed you back."
Gigi looked like a weight had been lifted off of her. Then, she seemed to have an idea.
"I know this is incredibly early, but uhm..I'm alone and my parents won't come back until in a few days, do you maybe want to stay with me for the night? I just want to find out more about the girl I've been secretly admiring for the past few months."
Crystal smiled softly.
"Of course. I would love to know more about the girl that has been hiding every emotion for..I don't even know how long. Tell me what you're feeling, every single one, I want to know all about them. And please don't ever be afraid again to show people your vulnerable side. The world may be terrible, but not every single person is, I promise."
"You're the prime example of that," Gigi said quietly.
"You're still treating me like this even though I was such a terrible person to you...thank you so much Crystal."
With that, they intertwined their fingers, slowly getting closer until their lips touched again. This time it felt different, but just as amazing. It was all slow and tender, and neither of them wanted the moment to end. Maybe it was like in the kitschy fairy tales after all.
