yesterday i wrote a scene where jade wasnt a plot device and was left the hell alone in A6A5 because this being dave and jade’s last proper conversation in years made me sad and i wanted to see them reunite properly. i mixed a bit of narration in too even though it was rare around this point in the comic but its just to paint a better picture. also i wouldnt mind feedback on character voice (it’s important to me that the dialogue sounds believable)

[3 years are over, everyone is in the new session. The prospit ship is on LOMAX, as is everyone who arrived on the meteor, safely warped by Jade onto LOMAX as well. Jade has banished B2 Jack to the Furthest Ring already. She hasn't seen her friends in 3 years, not to mention she never met the trolls in person yet.]

Ok so first things first every single member probably thinks you are nuts for agreeing to go out with their captain, but when they saw how happy you and Luffy were when you agreed to spend some time together they just couldnt help but smile, trying their best since they know how dense their captain can be.

After Sanji finally calmed down and stopped crying because Luffy got a date and he didnt, he and Nami are willing to teach him how to fucking eat like a normal person (in case you are going out to eat) because the way Luffy just crams a bunch of food into his mouth is not quite pleasant, no matter if its in front of his crush or in front of them.

But lets be realistic, after one and a half hours both of them would just give up because there is no way Luffy will use a fork or spoon correctly.

Usopp is the one responsible for taking care that Luffy showers properly, even if it means he has to get into that damn shower by himself and scrub his whole body. I think its no secret that Luffy barely showers, because... water? and Luffy? Nope, not gonna happen.

Robin and Zoro are not really interfering, just watching the whole rigmalore in front of them and smiling to themselves. They both think there is no need to change the way their captain behaves since you agreed to go out with the huge dork, not with a forced gentlemen, but instead of calming them down they both just watch the whole crew make a fuss. Its kinda like Luffys friends are more excited about the date then he is.

Franky is already searching for the fake mustaches they wore at dressrosa in order to follow you discreetly, thinking that this will truely disguise them. Plot twist: It doesnt.

Brook and Chopper are trying to convince him to change in some more appropriate clothes, but there is no way Luffy would change. He is comfortable in what he is wearing and he probably doesnt even own anything different than his colored shirts and blue shorts.

At the end of the day every one of his crew members got exhausted because there is no freaking way their captain will change and will become a gentlemen in less then half a day. Thats probably when Robin finally speaks up and calms everyone down.

You are probably in your own room, not noticing how the other members harassed Luffy the whole evening over, just trying to get ready by yourself, already excited to explore the new island you landed on some hours earlier with Luffy. At some point Nami even barges into the room, looking quite exhausted, asking if you are 1000% sure to go out with the gummy boy. And you are just like... Yes?? You are sure. At least you think you are lol.

Nami is giving Luffy some extra money to spend on the island - which is a very very bad idea actually since he will lose it in no matter of time or spend it on complete bullshit. Thats probably the reason why she also gave you a bit more money than usually, knowing that Luffy will throw it out of the window and you have to pay for him, but you dont mind at all.

Five minutes after you both left the ship to go explore the island, Franky showed up with the beards and hats in order to follow you and take care that everything is going smoothly. But no way would Robin let them leave the ship, no matter how much they begged or tried to convince her. She would even use her devil fruit powers in order to keep the other strawhat pirates on their ship. She just wants to respect your and Luffys privacy.

No one of them knows how the date was. They just sat on the Sunny all day, wondering about all the scenarios that could happen.

After some hours they finally hear your and Luffys voices again, even though its just a muffled dialogue since you are currently talking in front of the ship instead of climbing up. Even Zoro became curious on how it went, every single one of them looking down and trying to peek on both of you, reading your faces. The only thing they saw though was how you gave Luffy a big smooch on his red cheeks, and him showing you the biggest gummismile he has, giggling slightly. Even you could tell how the tense atmosphere upstairs left immediately, everyone smiling down on both of you, happy it went well.

and charles, is his peppy-ness an act? is he genuinely that upbeat? if he does it with otho, he does it with ethan for sure, is it to get their trust? otho obviously doesnt trust him, hence the way he tells otho "it worries me when you say cryptic things like that pal." showing this is probably a common way for otho to speak to him, and it points to a mutual rift. (also "wonderful... rapport.." from otho)

"hey big spender. spend a little time on me?" if i didnt see them so father/son (or mentor/mentee basically) they could be a ship in my head. but like. they cant be i cant do it. in some timeline that is literally his dad. and i wrote that timeline <3

is it normal for eddie to call fighters nicknames? he calls hannah his "little star", has he done that before? would he have continued to, given the chance?

BAR SCENE eek omg. this is The Scene. its coming. something about the way eddie explains otho to ethan makes me wonder if he knows more than he lets on in the way he acts around charles/hannah/otho/etc.

the way his face drops immediately make smenfucking crazy. hes so calm and then IMMEDIATELY hes tense and adjusting his clothes. is it real fear? the way he tells ethan to watch his mouth makes me think its real on some level, then the way he looks at charles when hes told to "take a walk, right out of town." tells me something i just dont know what it is exactly.

whether or not this is real, eddie very clearly believes its real, and he is going to die. i dont know if hes looking at ethan or charles or bruno or us, but he looks at someone for help, and they dont help him. and that seems to scare him more than anything else happening.

i dunno i think hes fascinating. charles too but not as much.

Telling the bots to be careful and give them loving hugs whenever the person enters a room (well tries to hug but you get it)

They always give the decepticons head pats whenever the human can and praises them for their work in a soothing way. Just them being treated with the love they deserved for all this time!

Extra (you dont have to): if some mechs get fed up with the human and tries to get rid of them and the human gets taking out the ship and back to earth. Oh goodness when the decepticons find out that their human is missing òwó. Also I know I didnt add a lot of characters, only three. But if you feel like it you can add whoever you want!

- at first he would be very very stiff about you showing him that kind of love and he would probably try to stop you.

- He wouldn't want the other Decepticons to see him as weak because a human cares for him and also, he would worry that you're only doing it to find a weak spot to hurt him. To many people betrayed him already to trust so easily.

- He isn’t used to kind words or innocent touches, so to have someone like you, it would drive him nuts especially because you are human.

- He wouldn’t say he loves your words of affection, your smile and your look in your eyes when you compliment him, when you praise him, when you hug him or when you just cuddle with him, but in fact he does.

- Although he can’t really understand why you’re doing this, why you’re being all that nice to him, cause he sees himself as monster and he knows besides you everybody does that too.

- Whenever he’s feeling down or he’s scared he comes to you, wanting you to pet his head and telling him how proud you are.

- You’re always there when he leaves the ship no matter the time, no matter the reason for him to leave, telling him to be careful.

- Every time he would pick you up, raising you up to his faceplate and promising you to come back alive and healthy.

- The moment he’s back on the nemesis, you’re there to welcome him back and asking him if he’s okay.

- The way you cares for him would warm his ice cold heart everytime

- Your definitely the person he trusts the most and means the most to him.

- He would do anything to keep you save and healthy, no matter the cost

Extra

- Every bot on the nemesis would know that Megatron and you, a human, are very close and that he became soft over the time, or at least, he became soft around you and some of them would hate you for that.

- So some of the bot would plan to snatch you away while megatron is away doing god knows what

- He immediately knows something is clearly wrong when you’re not there to welcome him

- The first thing he does is to look in your room and surprise, you’re not there.

- after that he contacts soundwave to find you, and after soundwave tells him there’s no “human” signal on the nemesis he’s scared shitless

- He knows your not able to get off the nemesis on your own, and he knows since you’re an allay of the decepticons it would be pretty dangerous too to go back to earth without him.

- The only ones who are authorized to take care of you are Soundwave, Shockwave and Knockout so if neither has take you to earth he knows someone took you.

- With soundwaves help he would find the traitors pretty quick

- He would do anything to get you back and the moments he finds you and the bot who took you, he sees red.

-After that you both would comfort each other and believe me when I’m saying something like that would never ever happen again

Soundwave:

- Same as Megatron he would be stiff about that kind of affection at first.

- He would ask himself a lot of questions, like, why are you so nice to him, why all those hugs and loving word’s. He wouldn’t understand you the slightest bit.

- You’re a human, why do you care for him? He’s just a bot, nothing else.

- He would get attached to it pretty fast though

- most of the time he’s on the nemesis, doing nothing but work, so to have you, praising him, cuddling him and petting his head after his duty’s are fulfilled, means everything to him

- He knows your mothering him and he’s done some research on why you’re doing this and if every human does that.

- He absolutely adores it that you care for him, that you ask him how he’s doing, that you hug him when he’s stressed and that you ask him to be careful when it happens that he has to leave the nemesis

- He doesn’t care if some other bot thinks he’s weak, he knows he is not and he also thinks that you’re not weak like some others say. In his optics you’re the strongest and most caring human that exists.

- You’re a role model for him, even though he’s so much older than you and knows like everything, cause even if he’s a huge war criminal who could easily crush you, you never feared him nor did you ever insult him.

-He likes to give you head pats too, just to show you without using his words that you mean everything to him

-because you mean so much to him, one of his little cassettes would always be by your side and would protect you.

Extra:

- As mentioned he rarely leaves the nemesis and if he does, one of his little cassettes watches over you

- So the moment his cassette sends a sos signal to him, he’s on his way to you

- Whoever the bot is that tries to steal you from him, his end is near

- Soundwave would be on his ass the moment he’s leaving the nemesis with you

- Give him lots of love, attention and praise cause he would need that after multiple spark attacks

Knockout:

- He's the one who would be the quickest to accept this new found affection

- Your praise, your kind words, the sweet pats on his head, the innocent hugs and the love you’re showing him would mean so much to him

- You’re his rock, his family, you mean everything to him and he’s willing to show you that you’re his family

- Not like the others, he wouldn’t ask himself why you’re so nice to him, he would simply accept and enjoy it. Way to many years filled with betray and war that he’s letting his chance of having someone like you in his life go

- He would ask you for physical affection all the time, like head pats or a hug cause his kind is just like the humans, it needs that kind of affection.

- He purr’s (only if you’re alone with him)

- Every time he leaves the nemesis you’re there to say goodbye to him, to wish him luck and to tell him to care of himself.

- You’re the only reasons he likes to go back to the nemesis, cause he knows you’re there waiting for him

- To welcome him, to tell him he did a good job, to be there for him.

Extra:

- He loves street racings and even though he knows your worried about him, he likes to go out and attend street races (mostly because every time he comes home, you’re waiting for him. Asking him if he was okay and giving him affection)

- So to come back to the nemesis and it seems you’re nowhere to be found he would be panicking.

- He knows a lot of the other bot doesn’t like humans so he would immediately try to find you (together with breakdown)

- In the end he would ask soundwave to help him to find you and together they would find you somewhere in the desert.

- After you’re back on the nemesis he would need a lot affection and words, cause he’s sure he had over ten spark attacks while you were nowhere to be found.

apologies as i do not like being negative on here, i prefer positivity and fun. but something ive been thinking about lately. You know, maybe i am just an old hat on the internet. I remember things like AOL, Going to newgrounds to play flash games, Old youtube layout, And i Remember Fanfiction.net (gosh this definitely shows my age). Ive been in the online space for many years, easily over fifteen years to say the least. And ive been in the fandom side of the internet for most of it, And i remember how delightful and fun it was growing up. Fandoms were fun, people did amazing art and wrote fanfictions and had fun. They shipped all kinds of characters and every ship under the sun was possible and ships from entirely different series. and nobody cared what you shipped, hell some of the most popular ships of the time were "problematic" and nobody cared. Because at the end of the day everyone knew fandom was just fun and games and playing pretend. we were all basically playing with dolls in our minds and it was fun. When did it become so hateful and aggressive? people attacking each other over fandom stuff that was the norm years ago? Before id see people shipping themselves with sailor moon and naruto and everyone would love it. We would see sasuke shipped with his brother in the naruto anime, or inuyasha (200 years old) and kagome (15 years old) being the main couple of the inuyasha anime and everyone loved it? Fandom was fun and people could do whatever they wanted because its fictional, nothing mattered and how you treated real life people was infinitely more important that what you did fiction wise because it didnt matter. fiction is fiction and people can do what they want in it? and if we didnt like it? (and there were things i didnt like) we just blocked and moved on, called em squicks and that was the end of it. But now? now fandom is such a violent hateful place. People are at each others necks because they like pixels in the wrong way, or like two sets of pixels kissing the wrong way. This is what I’ve been saying for a while. That regardless of anything else. The way they wrote that episode is cruel if they aren’t planning for Buddie canon. There was no reason to use Eddie for a bait and switch for Tommy knowing how beloved the Buddie ship is - if you’re not going to do anything later with that. If it truly was just meant to be a “gotcha you thought this was about Eddie?? Actually it’s about Tommy!” then it was bad writing and also just mean for no reason. There were a million different ways they could’ve written Buck’s bisexuality arc without involving Eddie if they hadn’t gotten the okay for Buddie, if they hadn’t planned to move forward with Buddie. And yes I love Buddie but I would say the same if this happened to any fandom with any popular ship even if I didn’t like that ship. Yes writers aren’t obligated to write things just because fans want them - but they also do not have to deliberately write things to mock or belittle them either, purposefully get their hopes up for no reason.

I don’t think you intended to come across this way but your post about how clearly romantically coded John and Arthur are, to the point you believe that the creator is intentionally doing it to mess with people because *clearly* the only reason that John and Arthur would call eachother friend and discuss their friendship as love really comes off unpleasantly. It seems like you’re indicating that it’s impossible for their platonic love for eachother to “just” be friendship because of the language they use, which kind of indirectly comes across like you’re saying that there’s no way someone could feel platonic love as strongly as John and Arthur do. One of the reasons aromantic people see themselves in this podcast is due to the emphasis on platonic love and friendship being incredibly powerful in a way that only romantic love is really given the spotlight for. So it kind of feels like you’re denying that and saying it MUST be romantic in order to be so important that John and Arthur continue to state it with such emphasis. It’s totally fine to ship them romantically, I do that as well, but you’re sounding as if you’re saying that there’s clearly no way Arthur and John can JUST have a really deep and loving friendship, when this is something a lot of people can see themselves in, especially in a world that pushes the idea that romantic love is more substantial than platonic love constantly.

Oh, no you are right. I didnt meant it to come off that way. I usually read them as only friends and not actually ship them fr (I sometimes do ship them but that’s not the case most of the time), which is why the emphasis threw me off a little. It was more of a feeling of “some phrases had a bit of an unnatural way to speak about them” than a “they are clearly in a relationship with each other in a specifically romantic way”.

It reminded me a bit to the Holliday special where Harlan did wrote a joke about people reading them as romantic and him not writing them that way. Like I said, it usually isn’t the case, but this last episode specifically, the emphasis felt like a bit too much and I felt like it was specifically addressed so that the people who ship them took this as a platonic interaction. So it felt like he was specifically clearing that up so that people DIDNT ship them other than him writing the scenes as fluid and concise as he usually does, which made it a bit awkward at some points, at least to me. But other than that I found it as moving and emotional as usual, which is why it stood out so much, in my opinion.

So basically, I meant it as in “you don’t HAVE to say they friends every time they say they love eachother, *we understand* that they are friends that love each other.”

And no as in “weird of you to say they are friends so many times, does that mean they secretly aren’t friends and are instead boyfriends?!?”

Also I meant it as in “is he specifically addressing the shippers and telling them to focus on the emotion not in the sipping in a very Harlan fashion? I find it interesting that that message sparked such a flood of defenders, when I did not send it in bad faith at all. From your answer it seems I'm lacking context so sorry if I took some of your statements the wrong way, but nonetheless I just found the parental love addition strange and reacted to that, that was all there was to it. I clearly stated (three times) I'm not taking any issue with your headcanons.

By saying they are far removed from canon I did not mean to say they are "too unrealistic" or something is wrong with that, I literally said the opposite. Someone did ask me about it, and you seem to have already seen that response, yet you still felt the need to send another message basically implying that an explanation wasn't enough (turns out it actually wasnt enough because people said I was lying and in denial) and that my explanation was weird too? Which is whatever I already ended up clarifying that, English is not my first language and I type things with the help of a translator (I wish people could actually keep this in mind. I only type in English because it'll reach a wider audience and it's the language most of my followers know. Often I have to google words people tell me online, or I ask my friends fluent in English to explain things for me)

The art I made where I said "if your parents didnt love you then it's obvious" was a direct response to people who were mocking me specifically for tagging the art as "non-coupling" because they didnt believe me. They got the context and decided I was trying to hide a fetish because a kiss on the cheek was "obviously shippy". They proceeded to compare this to drawing NSFW of Mob and Reigen by labelling it "non-ship" as if it was comparable to tucking a child into bed, that's what upset me. I did absolutely nothing to these people, I dont know them, if they said this privately I wouldnt care but it was public, and they also targeted another friend of mine for no reason.

All Im gonna say is that my drawing shouldnt have caused this much controversy in the first place. I labeled it "non-coupling" as soon as I posted it, which should've been enough honestly. It's not like I posted porn or anything like that, I got the idea from something Ive experienced in my family as a teenager and I could easily google stock images of the exact same scenario to use as reference, like I really didnt think it was that bad.

the notion that makorra breaking up in b2 means they could never work is idiotic ( neither of them would have worked with anyone they broke up due to mutual flaws  that led to them breaking up flaws which they overcame by book 4 ( its korra and asami who couldnt work out without korra bieng ooc in the last 2 minutes

makorra is more comparable to kataang ( and mako showed that he could support korra the way she needed it asami didnt

It’s not directly stated, but I think reading between the lines of the letter itself and Korra’s explanation of it makes it seem unlikely that she sent more than one:

“Dear Asami, I’m sorry I haven’t written to you sooner, but every time I’ve tried, I never know what to say.  The past two years have been the hardest of my life. Even though I can get around fine now, I still can’t go into the Avatar State. I keep having visions of Zaheer and what happened that day.  Katara thinks a lot of this is in my head, so I’ve been meditating a lot, but sometimes I worry I’ll never fully recover.  Please don’t tell Mako and Bolin I wrote to you and not them. I don’t want to hurt their feelings, but it’s easier to tell you about this stuff. I don’t think they’d understand.”

The thing to note here is that Korra feels guilty about not writing to Mako and Bolin and says she doesn’t want to hurt their feelings, but seems to feel the need to tell someone about her fears.  Considering the circumstances, continuing to write to Asami in spite of that guilt doesn’t make much sense.

She doesn’t really offer any room for a back-and-forth discussion in her letter, in any case — she’s treating it as a confessional rather than as an opportunity to talk.  It seems more like she’s trying to explain why she hasn’t been able to respond than opening a conversation.

The other part of it is this:

“I wrote to Asami while I was away. I asked her not to tell you. I’m sorry.”

I feel like, if Korra wanted to keep up a continuous conversation with Asami, the request not to tell Mako and Bolin about it would have been phrased differently (“Please don’t tell Mako and Bolin I’m writing to you and not them” rather than “I wrote”) as would the explanation (“I sent letters to Asami while I was away”).

Instead, “wrote” is in the past tense in both cases, instead of something less ambiguously repetitive, and the second one mirrors the first, which is clearly only talking about the present letter.

It’s also important to remember that there isn’t much time for her to keep up a conversation even if she wanted to do so — she went off the grid within a few months of the letter, and international mail isn’t exactly instant.

and zutara got actual moments and interactions which would say that they are close to one another

good writing and not having a forced ship where you throw away narrative and two characters make no sense to be with each other is more important then filling a quota or publicity stunt. its more important then the genders involved ina ship  

if they wanted to have a show with a same sex ship then make another show with a same sex ship canon with actual buildup etc

like say given that they are making another avatar series they could have not done korrasami and waited for the next avatar series to have a avatar in a same sex ship which would have actual buildup

For such an emotion heavy point in the story I feel that they had to have made some conscious thought on who would accompany her. It could have been Asami, or even Bolin. Do you believe that they saw something that Mako offered more to her arc than the others did? I'd love to hear your opinion!

Because Korra’s relationship with Mako is the only one she had that offered her the sort of support that she needed in that situation.

None of Korra’s other friends or mentors has as much trust and faith in Korra as Mako does.  Asami’s support is a bit too insistent and she worries a bit too much for her to have done what Mako did and stepped back when Korra asked.  Bolin is… Bolin.  He’s good at cheering people up, but he’s not the one to rely on when humor isn’t called for.  Even Tenzin couldn’t have taken Mako’s role, because he’d let Korra’s long recovery get to him.

Mako, in contrast, was able to let go when Korra needed him to do so.  Korra needed to confront Zaheer on her own, and she needed to do so without having to talk her moral support down from coming in with her.  Mako was the only one who could fill that role.

Anonymous asked: About Korra's letter to Asami and whether or not it's about Asami meaning more to Korra than anyone else: when I lost someone I cared about years ago, one of the first people I told about it was somebody who was a good friend but not one of my closest ones. This person had also lost someone and dealt with it strongly, especially for someone her age, and I knew she would understand without getting too gushy about it. It wasn't about who I "cared about more" and it definitely wasn't romantic!

It makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it?  If you’re dealing with something difficult and uncomfortable, talking to someone who understands (or seems likely to understand) the specific situation does a lot more good than talking to whoever you feel closest to and hoping they’ll respond in a way that actually helps.

Just because you’re closer to/romantically interested in someone doesn’t mean they’re going to be the one with all the answers.  As such, the idea that going to one particular friend for answers about something very difficult implies closeness or romantic interest just… doesn’t really comport with reality.  =/
