going to a comedy open mic tomorrow mostly to watch my friends (it's at a cool venue that my improv troupe performs at once a month and a few improv troupe friends are doing standup there) but when these friends were asking if i'd be interested in coming they were like "btw there's usually a ton of open spots on show days if YOU want to do something... and they're not strict about it only being standup either, people have done character pieces and sketches etc like they embrace the weirdness... and they're not strict about time limits you could probably do anything between three and eight minutes... sometimes if there's not enough people signed up they'll even let you go twice..." and i'm like god damn it i thought i was gonna take a break from aubrey but this setup is like tailor made for an aubrey appearance lmao
#still on the fence about it bc the burnout i experienced at the beginning of may extended to aubrey#especially bc so much of my aubrey stuff is comedy about gender and my brain was more in ''set everything on fire'' mode#and i think i've gotten to a good place with that burnout but i still haven't worked on any aubrey stuff since i got home from college#but even still even tho my mental health is better than it was a few weeks ago#recently i have had this horrible insomnia where i haven't been able to fall asleep at night in over a week#(i've made up for it with naps but still i am not mentally 100% rn. i've tried so many things and nothing has worked.)#so that's my justification for *not* doing aubrey tomorrow. however.#i reeeally need to get more performance experience bc there's only so much you can develop a sketch character without performing them#and this venue is so good. it's an art gallery like an hour away that's designed to be part gallery and part performance venue#especially for comedy. like the venue owner is this veteran comedian who used to work with bobcat goldthwait and a lot of other big names#and it's a low-pressure environment bc everyone there has seen me do comedy before with my improv troupe#but they still haven't seen me do aubrey at all so it's bringing a new side of my comedy to some of my main collaborators#like this is so much better than my previous aubrey performances bc they were all either#1. shows in CLASSROOMS with a bunch of my classmates who generally don't get my comedy (very clique-ish)#or 2. a guest spot on a show at a coffee shop where everyone knew each other except me#plus the biggest thing for me is the lack of a strict time limit. like as much as having a good 3-minute monologue can be#i think aubrey is a character you need to get to know a bit longer than 3 minutes. and a lot of my stuff is long while also being very tigh#like not every monologue is like this but my best aubrey monologues are almost like aubrey is telling you a sitcom storyline#and removing too many lines makes the whole narrative jenga tower fall over#and as much as i want to figure out how to make every monologue a good starting point#having the chance to perform multiple monologues if i get to go twice so that they can build off each other would be perfect#idk i'm not sure how often the open mics are there. at least monthly tho i might be missing next month's depending on when i'm in toronto#so like this wouldn't really be my only chance. but yeah i'm on the fence about whether to bring aubrey back for a performance tomorrow#i probably wouldn't do new material. i'd do the 5 minute version of my uncle reg monologue bc it's the one that's worked best so far#and if i get to do multiple. maybe i'd do the ''nom de plum'' monologue bc i think it's also very strong#and it has a good callback to uncle reg#but idk i also think doing the song would be very fun and on-theme since it's pride month and the song is a satire of rainbow capitalism#tho i'd probably have to rework the monologue that leads into the song bc even tho i loved the concept i don't think i articulated it well#or i could write an entirely different lead-in and make the previous monologue (''C/H/M'') a separate thing to revise later#which would probably go better and somehow be less work to write. but even so i don't know what the venue's sound setup is

Two things can be simultaneously true.
"Rainbow Capitalism" does not in any way signal whether corporations actually care about or help queer & trans people and only serves to generate positive PR and/or free advertising from "outraged bigots." And Corporations openly displaying symbols of pride and queer/trans community serves as modest barometer on the social acceptance of queer & trans people, and business after business pulling back it's pride merch/symbolism because of right-wing backlash is not good and potentially a sign of even worse to come.

Propaganda
James Stewart (It's a Wonderful Life, The Philadelphia Story, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington)—the thing about Jimmy Stewart is that for a weird-enough looking guy, he is yet somehow SO hot and SO believable, ALWAYS. He always plays the same person—he's always, well, Jimmy Stewart—yet that person can be a murderer, a dark cynic, a naive idealist, the boy next door or an old man who knows better, and every one of those is hot. I would jump his bones in a heartbeat
Toshiro Mifune (Rashumon, Seven Samurai, Grand Prix, Stray Dog)—i love and respect my boi tab hunter (rest in peace you beautiful, beautiful man ❤️), but after i watched like 12 of his movies in a row on tcm last year, i ALSO love and respect toshiro mifune, son of a literal actual hatamoto’s (a high-ranking samurai) daughter, also very possibly related to the best judokan EVER, AND, he’s the guy who SHOULD have been obi-wan kenobi. the fact that he’s ALSO hot as hell just adds to his appeal.
This is round 4 of the bracket. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage man.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
James Stewart propaganda:
Tumblr media
"Ough I saw him first in It's A Wonderful Life, where he is very charming as a suicidal family man being absolutely crushed by capitalism. But then. The Philadelphia Story, in my opinion, should get the same kind of press The Mummy does for being a bisexual dream. Now I'm not really bi (not into women) and it's honestly up for debate whether i'm attracted to men or not, but COME ON!! The movie stars James Stewart as well as Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn (and Ruth Hussey). Stewart plays a common working man, a journalist, to contrast with Grant's character, who is mega-rich. He is scrappy and hates rich people. Hot! They have a whole scene together where he's super drunk and being really physical with his acting, which I love because he is kinda wet noodle shaped. Hot! He carries Hepburn in his arms while singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Hot! He gets punched in the face by Cary Grant. Hot!!! In The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, we get to see him portray an alternative type of masculinity, opposite John Wayne doing John Wayne. He is even more wet noodle-y, to put emphasis on his incompatibility with the rugged masculinity of the cow-boy, he wears an apron for a lot of the film, again, to blur his masculinity, and he gets shot. Hot! Also he's older here, if that's your thing. Long story short: He's giving librarian chic and The Philadelphia Story made me want to be poly."
youtube
Tumblr media
“Here he is next to Grant, in what I believe to be a promotional shot for The Philadelphia Story. Please don’t get distracted by Grant (or do, i’m submitting him next).”
Tumblr media
“He’s a nice guy and a good guy and deserves all the happiness and joy ever! Classic boy next door/class president kid that everyone loves for real. Stand-up for the Little Guy vibes. With a charming fun side!!”

Toshiro Mifune propaganda:

"In addition, he spoke fluent mandarin and every time he was casted in foreign films, he said his lines in the language of the movie (although they ended up dubbing him. He wasn’t happy about it though).”

imo there’s a difference between “queer coding” and very specifically playing to both sides whether or not the writers/artists/directors intended to make a character queer or not. I think that for enstars specifically, with the new valkyrie event, while people are happy that some characters such as shu and mika in the new event are being shown expressing their love for each other and their views on their sexuality and expression, people are frustrated that it is not explicitly said because of the company’s need to not confirm a character as queer in order to not alienate (homophobic!) fans. Because at the end of the day in happyele’s eyes, if that homophobic fan spends a lot of money on the game then they’re worth pandering to (shrug emoji) And I mean some people also just don’t like shumika
anon i understand where you're coming from but i think you are wildly missing the point in my original post
my point is EXACTLY that if you need the characters to walk up to the screen and say "i'm gay" or "i'm [insert some 21st century-friendly label]" or "this is my boyfriend" for it to count as queer media in your eyes than i think you need to do some reexamining about what exactly your views on queer media as a whole are
plus, they DO do this. they explicitly talk about queer themes out loud many many times in enstars. shu says to mika that they should, together, create the happiness that his grandfather was never allowed to have, after they spent the entire story detailing shu's grandfather's queer romance story. they probably kissed in hermitage, and the lyrics to acanthe talk about them kissing. rinne proposes to niki in every other story they appear in together. he told him to do a striptease during nightclub. tori has very explicitly gay feelings for eichi. arashi narukami exists. eichi, while talking to arashi in pretty mission, says "people like us," confirming himself to also be some form of queer. kuro calls keito an old word for spouse or husband. and SO many more examples. this is not "queer coding" or subtext, its just text.
in any case, authorial intent is generally of no interest when it comes to examining media. the conversation of what the author could have meant by something is wildly less interesting than the conversation about the ways in which the audience can interpret it. what the writers intended should have little to no place in the discussion. what we should be talking about is what the thing itself is saying, both implicitly and explicitly.
expanding your view on what exactly can be seen as "queer media" can only do you good. and it would do so much good to not give a shit about the possibility that homophobic people will also like the thing and interpret it as not queer. that is literally not my problem whatsoever, and it shouldn't be yours either.
what it seems like to me is that no matter what pieces of queer media will always be criticized in some capacity. if they're not explicitly queer enough, they're just bait and have no merit. if they are explicit, then they're promoting stereotypes, or its rainbow capitalism, or it's fetishization. there is no winning. the standards for queer media are absolutely absurd, but they don't HAVE to be. you don't have to look at a piece of media through this kind of silly cynical lens if you don't want to.
the discussion about a work loses so much interesting and important nuance when you try to shove it into a box of "good representation" or "bad evil queerbait." thats just really really boring way to view stories

people who complain about "rainbow capitalism" have good points but they're also some of the most obnoxious people to crawl out of the woodwork during pride
because there was a time, really not all that long ago, where you wouldn't see a single goddamn thing with a rainbow (gay) on it. there was no pride merch at the store, companies didn't put up pride flags, there sure as fuck wasn't clothing with pronouns on them or fun (cringey to you) accessories and shoes and all manner of wearable items & collectable items. flags, drinks, signs. there was nothing at big stores, you weren't going to see makeup brands or any brand supporting gays, there wasn't going to be even empty support from alcohol companies - ESPECIALLY not ones beloved by stereotypical rednecks.
these companies might not mean any of the things they say during pride, but i personally don't care all that much. we haven't had this shit long enough for me to be tired of it, to be over the joy of seeing these sections and items for my community just.. out there in the world. loud and easily accessible.
for one month we are EVERYWHERE. we have visibility and we have gay power because the threat of losing hateful dollars apparently does not stand up to the threat of losing gay dollars. these places could roll back their pride stuff, could stop and bow to angry conservatives. and sometimes they do. but a lot of the time they don't. and i'm sorry but that means something to me. this outcome wasn't something i ever imagined as a small-town midwestern kid in a conservative family.
progress is being made. whether you're happy with the pace of it or not it IS happening and i myself am thrilled by every little win we get

Random Fallout 4 headcanons for my fave companions because I’ve been replaying the game despite the rapidly accelerating deterioration of my Playstation 4
Tumblr media
Some of these headcanons contain suggestive content. There is also a mention of su*cide attempts so tread carefully but know that neither the sexual content or su*cidal issues are described in detail.
Nick Valentine (he/him)
Tumblr media
He’s a massive flirt. Pre-war!Nick was very much the smooth talker and would flirt with just about anybody for any reason. What Nick doesn’t realize is that nowadays his flirting with Sole is most definitely not just fun and games but rather a genuine desire to connect and impress the ol’ vault dweller.
Of all the aspects of his figure, he’s most insecure about his eyes. Their piercing glow only seems to serve as a reminder of his inhuman physicality.
As a synth, he obviously doesn’t have blood or hormones so typical sexual attraction and physical reactions don’t occur. However, he loves giving Sole attention. Pleasuring them and watching them unravel is a gift that keeps on giving.
Man’s best friend is Nick’s best friend too. He’s a dog guy. Dogmeat is easily his favorite co-companion. Any chance to spend time with Sole’s four-legged friend is time well-spent.
Even though it literally cannot kill him, he really wants to quit smoking. Pre-war!Nick’s addiction is the only thing he really can’t stand about the guy whose identity he’s borrowed from. With Sole’s help, maybe he can rewire the brain and kick the habit.
There isn’t a single person in the Commonwealth more open-minded and inclusive as Nick. Regardless of race, gender identity or sexuality, he respects and seeks to aid every single person that comes to him for help. Maybe it’s the fact that he’s a synth with a dead man’s memories that makes it easier to empathize or the fact that he just loves people. Either way, he’s the most reliable guy in Diamond City.
Nick hates power armor. He doesn’t have any qualms with Sole wearing it since the stuff does wonders to keep them alive. However, he just can’t stand wearing it himself. It’s too clunky and too heavy, and it just makes him feel more inhuman than he already is.
Hancock (he/they)
Tumblr media
He’s the gayest ghoul in the Commonwealth. Well, more like the queerest. Hancock is the poster child for pansexuality. Doesn’t matter what your gender identity is, if he thinks you’re hot, he’s down to clown.
Eternal life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. There have been some very low lows in his ghoul-ish life that have brought him to breaking points. There’s been more than one suicide attempt, but he just can’t seem to die. Fortunately, the desire to help the folks of Goodneighbor and keep Sole safe has given him a new purpose and love for life.
No one throws a rager like Hancock. This guy knows how to party like it’s 2069. Mixing drinks, picking killer music, and sparking wildly fascinating conversations are just some of the skills on his Life-of-the-Party resume.
Freak of nature? No. Freak in bed? Hell yeah. Hancock is down for anything and everything. Whether it’s a kink you like or a desire to try something new, he’s gonna give you a run for your money. And lemme tell ya, he’s good at what he does.
Though he loves Sole with his whole heart and wants to horde them like treasure, he is very much open to polyamorous relationships. If Sole finds themself connecting with another companion, he has no problem exploring possibilities with this new party member. And hey, who is he to complain if it means the sex life gets some new flavor?
MacCready (he/him)
Tumblr media
He’s the sharpest shooter this side of the Mississippi. After all his experience in the Capital Wasteland and his time spent with the Gunners, his rifle handling is basically unmatched. Give him a target and he will not miss, I guarantee it.
Now there’s a nut that’s awfully tough to crack. MacCready may seem like a jerk who doesn’t share his feelings, but it’s all just a means to protect himself. Can’t get your heart broken if you don’t let anybody in. However, the more time he spends with Sole, the more that wall around his heart chips away. And once you make it inside, it is impossible for him to push you out.
No one loves harder than this guy. A single dad who has risked it all for his son, MacCready is the kind of guy to go all in on a genuine connection. If he cares about you, he will go to the ends of the Earth—quite literally if he has to—to make sure you stay alive. Sole is lucky enough to be the person that receives that insane devotion.
This. boy. is a bottooooooommmm~ No, but for real. When it comes to intimacy, MacCready is putty in Sole’s hands. He’s spent far too many years having to keep that tough mercenary reputation in tact, so much so that he’s been touch-starved and desperate for romance. Call him handsome or pet his hair and he will melt like candle wax.
The internalized homophobia is strong with this one. He’s a bisexual king, he just takes far too long to realize it. The pressure to fit into the stereotype of loving dad with beautiful wife made him bury some less heterosexual thinking early in life. Fortunately for him, exposure to more queer folk in Goodneighbor and surrounding Commonwealth settlements has made it easier for him to accept that he may not be as straight as he thought he was.
Deacon (they/he/she)
Tumblr media
Deacon is a genderfluid icon. Though he typically chooses more masculine personas (and I’m defaulting to he for this just because of the game canon), he has no reservations about taking on the identity of a woman or non-binary/agender individual. As a result, Deacon’s a-okay with people referring to him by any pronoun.
Though he’s got game and can flirt for days, he’s asexual and aromantic. Life’s too chaotic to settle down, especially when said life involves changing identities every couple of years and disappearing underground for days at a time to help the Railroad. A significant other just isn’t something Deacon’s looking for at this point.
Sole is his hero. As much as he plays off confidence and doesn’t hesitate to stick his neck out for the vault dweller when they first come by HQ, he is absolutely starstruck by Sole’s reputation. He’s been watching this Commonwealth legend for so long, meeting them face-to-face basically gives him whiplash.
Though he changes his story left and right to make it difficult to maintain an aura of mystery and secrecy surrounding his character, I strongly believe the bit about him being a synth is true. He’s one of the OG’s, one of the Institute’s first Gen 3′s and a technological marvel. After breaking free from the Institute’s control, he made it his life goal to ensure others can find the same freedom.
He’s the glue that holds the Railroad together. When a groups one and only job is to risk their lives to save synths in a world that hates them, it’s easy to get weighed down by responsibility and hopelessness. Deacon, however, always seems to be the perfect distraction. Whether he cracks a joke or annoys somebody with gentle bullying, he can easily take folks’ minds off of the negativity.

not to ramble in your askbox, but...
imo, both the rainbow fish and the giving tree (whether or not it was the original intention of their authors) helped contribute to people internalizing the idea that if any part of them is special or good, they owe it to society to sacrifice themselves for their partners, their friends...and their jobs.
I know those books weren't the main cause of this, but when I see yet another person go, "well, there's this thing I'm passionate about, something that I'm good at, so I guess I'm legally required to try to profit off of it somehow" all I can see is a beautiful rainbow fish scraping its scales off one by one.
and when I see someone so entirely dedicated to their horrible, draining, underpaying job, convinced that all of this will someday be worth it, all I can see is a strong tree bending over, offering its limbs to someone who will only take and take and take and never give back. someone who will, uncaring, profit off of the physical and mental harm they cause.
I just think that if those books had been interpreted by the public as cautionary tales rather than as life lessons for kids to live by, maybe we wouldn't all feel, deep down, that we're only as good as the parts of us that can be cut off to make other people "happy".
(of course, it's capitalism that's actually at fault here, but I don't think these books helped.)

A “Girlboss” is still a boss
Gender/Sexuality doesn’t matter. A boss, whether man, or woman, gay, straight, or pan, is still a boss. And as a boss their primary directive is still to withhold wealth and goods from the workers. Rainbow capitalism is still capitalism. Just because Nestle has a rainbow in their logo for June doesn’t mean they aren’t benefiting from slavery. And one of these “minority bosses” is only successful as long as they are oppressing their own minority for material gain. The issue is entirely systemic. It is utterly ridiculous to think that things will be perfect for gay people in a queer-capitalist society. To say that is to ignore the fact that most straight people aren’t well off now. The problem must be addressed as a whole; the problem that is capitalism.

Some thoughts on “queerbaiting”. cause i saw someone acuse gerard of it and i’m mad about it.
The term queerbaiting has done way more harm than good. mainly forcing ppl to come out, and criticizing ppl for just being themselves.
The only way the term should be used is not toward people but rather corporations. It should be used to call out a marketing tactic. It should be used within the discussion about rainbow capitalism, and should only be a part of that conversation. it should not towards ppl just being themselves. The end goal should always be queer liberation which means letting ppl express themselves however the fuck they want, and dismantling systems of oppression such as capitalism. we should be celebrating anyone who dares to be themselves!
Also we as a community have WAY more important things to worry about than whether or not someone is “queerbaiting”. we r literally being killed all over the world!! We don’t need to waste energy on bullshit discourse!!
rant over, just needed to get that out

In the year of our lord 2023, are we really being forced to continue this pointless debate on whether or not people, real life, alive and breathing, living people can queerbait? Seriously?? Have we not had enough of this already?? Especially after the consequences we've seen this behaviour have in the last few years, but ESPECIALLY in 2022???
I can't believe that this is still needed but here we go: Real people CANNOT queerbait.
Queerbaiting implies playing with or toying at queerness without ever explicitly engaging in it in order to capitalise on queer people. By stating that people can queerbait you are not only implying you know every given instance of a person's life and can therefore attest to their non queerness (which is an absurd statement because you don't even know the entire life of your friends and family, who would say celebrities you have never even met) but also that there is a distinctive way to act queer, that it can be performed, that dressing, acting or speaking in a certain way is reserved to queer people and that, therefore, people who aren't queer cannot behave like that. This, as by now should be clear, is not only putting every single queer person into a thin narrow box of stereotypes that we have been trying to escape for long now, it also invalidates many of us and creates a ravine between us and the non queer folk who may or may not exhibit this traits and are fighting this war by our side. In conclusion: it sends us back years and rejects every principle and the freedom you so claim to be fighting for.
Not only that, I belive we have all seen where this type of behaviour leads: a queer person, who did not feel ready to come out is forced to in order to stop being harassed and maintain a career. Not once, so far, and correct me if I am wrong, have I seen this bullshit lead anyone anywhere good. Our strongest example, of course, being Kit Connor, a TEENAGER, who was harassed and threatened for supposedly going out with a girl. Which not only proves you're biphobic but also that you have no regards for anyone's mental health, not even a boy's.
And yes you can argue that people are capitalising on queer folk with their queerness and that is wrong and I will never deny to your faces the existence of rainbow capitalism but I do think you fail to see the bigger picture. It's not about whether or not money is being made on queerness. It's about the fact that queerness is being out out there, regardless of by who. It's about the fact we're working towards normalising non conformity, regardless of who's performing it. And that helps EVERYONE. Literally. You can't fight this war by gatekeeping being outside the norm because that just reinfores the idea that we're the other and the odd ones out when actually, by definition, as humans, we are all weird as fuck. We are only free when EVERYONE is free. And I know it's easier to see things black and white but dichotomies are a lie. I know we're used to see cisallohets as the enemy, but just like men also suffer under patriarchy, cisallohets also suffer under gender norms and homophobia. And even if they didn't. It's no way to stand up against oppression by throwing our own people under the bus. Representation is worth nothing compared to the sanity and rights of a person to live their life in peace.
So I hope you all learn this lesson sooner than later, before this shit starts getting used to exemplify how we're obsessed with children's sexualities and making everything about being gay.
In conclusion: Leave people alone. No one owes you shit about their life, even if they're famous. This behaviour is harmful and unhelpful. Don't make life for your community harder than it already is.
Thank you.

Hey. I know you 100% mean well and you treat all your anons with respect and the assumption that they mean well too, That makes you a good person. But the whole Louis is an addict thing comes entirely from Harries, not least the appalling zot3 who makes up a major part of the destroy-Louis nutters project all on her own. The idea that he’s permanently drunk is demonstrably stupid and untrue along with every other insane accusation against Louis they’ve hurled against the wall in the hope it’d stick, but it’s become about the only thing they have left to attack Louis on, after the success of his last tourThat’s not to say some genuine Louies haven’t taken it up too now but maybe that shows how young or naive they are. Louis comes from a UK working class culture and a generation that views alcohol as generally fun, not as a fast track to addiction. A lot of people can drink a lot on nights out and thats it. No hurtling toward the gutter. A bottle of vodka on the table in rehearsals. So what? What time of day or night was that taken? Why the assumption it’s there just for Louis? The OTT puritanism and extreme safety-ism of subsequent generations hasn’t bitten Louis or the people he works with. And btw drinking to party or just to relax and smoking a bit of weed is quite a bit safer than the kind of substances Harry promotes and those same faux pearl clutchers defend. Louis smokes far too much, yes, but that’s a stress thing I suspect. He’ll make an effort to stop if he wants to. And a lot of singers smoke. It’s not new sadly. Bowing to bad actors making huge deliberately destructive claims about addiction, worrying well meaning younger fans, is a huge gift to the inadequates who need to hate him and genuinely suffer when they see how brilliant his tours are and how happy he makes his fans.
bestie I know all this, that's why I said these conversations would go differently if everyone had good intentions!
I've just decided to not answer an anon I just got bc I could tell from their tone they're one of those assholes who'd rejoice in louis actually suffering from serious conditions and those are just not people I'm willing to speak with
but at other times I think there's fans (and people) who are genuinely just not informed on the matter and who are genuinely worried for him bc they Care and I think it could be useful to have these conversations for them !
also in general i think people forget that fans are people too and we all live in the world so what people learn within the context of fandom is still something that they will take with them in the world and that shapes how they will act and that's why I think the narratives people create here are extremely important and not just silly things about some celebrities! that's why I always expand the conversations from just talking about louis or harry or liam etc to also point out the deeper issues that are driving these choices and these conversations whether that is capitalism, hyper individualism, selfishness, rainbow washing, victim blaming, addiction stigma, mental illness, misogyny etc those are all really huge issues and real ways of living and thinking that inform people's behavior and actions in this fandom just as much as they do in the real world and I try to make an effort to speak about them hoping that if I even manage a little to make someone question their beliefs then I am making a small difference
anyways all this to say that I get where you're coming from and I do try to pick the right anons to answer and to make it harder to derail the conversations into just hater territory even if I don't always succeed rip but I also think it's important to call things what they are and to not minimize the risks of ALL substance abuse just as its important to defend those people's rights as human beings!
also remembering that like I mentioned, we can't diagnose anyone without actually knowing them and a few pictures or videos of someone are definitely not enough to declare anyone anything!

Made a webbed site for my HTML class over the summer, so I decided to post it! Hosted on everyones favorite old web hosting service neocities :D
Find Your Flag is a site for those wanting an LGBT resource that covers the "basics": common flags, identities, and terms, as well as some history on them! Good for allies and if you're new to the community trying to find a label for yourself!
It is a HUGE fucking mess, I need to do alot of work on it, but if I dont put it up and post about it I'll either never post it or forgot I posted it.
I'm aware of a couple of the things I need/want to change, both grammatically and code-wise, but if anyone wanna leave their findings or suggestions please do comment them. Below the readmore and edits/changes I need to make and things I want to add!
On the rainbow page under Progress pride there is the abomination known as "tabindexhe". Its supposed to be "taking the." This motherfucker has been in that file for like half a year and I didn't notice it for months. How
In the LGBTQIA section under Queer/Quesitoning, "ginned" is supposed to be "designed."
The A-Spec intro needs an "on" added to "someone either the"
In the Genders intro I need to pluralize "everyone."
In the Gender section under Xenogenders I need to change "social media" to "online" and remove the space in "a ssociated."
In the Misc section under Pan I misspelled anonymously and appealing. Cringe.
In the Misc section under Omni I need to add be to "The flag was meant to similar..." and change "it" to "is."
In the Misc section under Leather I need to change "wther" to "whether." (so many spelling errors in the Misc section..........)
The logo at the top takes you to home.html which is what used to be the home page. I shall make it lead to index.html
I wanna add more links to sources of info on flags, there's a few for more obscure flags but I think each flag needs one. Personally I like having sources to my info.
I don't have a source for the demisexual or frayromantic flag.
Add the old Intersex Flag to the Intersex section.
General rewording of certain sections/paragraphs.
I need to standardize my capitaliztion of words (ie I flip flop between capitalizing the first letter of identities and Not doing that)
More use of slideshows for sections with 2 or more flags maybe.
Look more into accessibility options!
I wanna change the "Contact" to "Support this site" or something along those lines to plug my ko-fi (and also have my email/Tumblr for people to submit suggestions to and stuff)

Propaganda
James Stewart (The Philadelphia Story, It's a Wonderful Life, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington)—Ough I saw him first in It's A Wonderful Life, where he is very charming as a suicidal family man being absolutely crushed by capitalism. Long story short: He's giving librarian chic and The Philadelphia Story made me want to be poly.
Gilbert Roland (Camille, The Cisco Kid movies, The Bad and the Beautiful)—no propaganda submitted beyond pictures below the cut
This is round 2 of the bracket. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage man.

"Here he is next to Grant, in what I believe to be a promotional shot for The Philadelphia Story. Please don't get distracted by Grant (or do, i'm submitting him next)."

"He’s a nice guy and a good guy and deserves all the happiness and joy ever! Classic boy next door/class president kid that everyone loves for real. Stand-up for the Little Guy vibes. With a charming fun side!!"

The Perpetual Discourse Over LGBTQ+ Pride: A Kinky, Political Ride
Ah, Pride that colorful explosion of rainbow flags, glitter, and sass strutting through the streets every June. Depending on who you ask, Pride is either a fabulous display of love and unity or a battlefront where the war over visibility, inclusion, and good taste rages on. But under the sequins and spectacle lies a more provocative debate: **Is Pride still political, or has it become just another party?**
### Pride: Party or Protest? ###
It’s the age-old argument should Pride be a celebration of how far we’ve come or a protest about how far we still have to go? In the early days, Pride was undeniably political. I mean, you don’t exactly hurl a brick at police outside a bar (here’s lookin’ at you, Stonewall) without making a statement. But flash forward to today and you’ve got corporate sponsors showering the parade with rainbow logos, while people twerk on floats blasting pop anthems. It's a vibe for sure, but is it still a revolution?
For some, seeing major corporations throw rainbow-colored money at Pride feels like the community's rebellious soul has been, well, commodified. **A parade or a protest?** They ask as the glitter cannons go off. On one side, you have the party-goers, arguing that visibility is its own form of protest that being unapologetically queer in public is a rebellion against societal norms. On the other side, you have activists holding up signs that read, “The first Pride was a riot!” and wondering why we’re sipping margaritas while trans rights are under siege.
### The Politics of Respectability ###
Now, let’s talk about the elephant or should I say the leather daddy in the room: **respectability politics**. Nothing says “heated debate” like whether kinks and fetish gear belong in Pride. Every June, a certain subset of the discourse pops up like clockwork: “Do we *really* need people in assless chaps at a family event?” Some argue that the visibility of queer kinks is essential to breaking down sexual taboos and combating repression. Others, well, clutch their pearls and argue that it’s not exactly kid-friendly.
The real fight here? It’s about who gets to define queerness, and whether queer spaces like Pride should cater to broader, more “respectable” audiences. Is Pride for the queer community in all its diverse, often messy, glory? Or is it for allies and families who want a more palatable version of queerness, sans leather harnesses and BDSM undertones?
### Corporate Kink: ###
Love It or Leave It?
Then there’s the curious case of corporations suddenly *loving* queerness every June. Rainbow capitalism is real, darlings. Nothing says “we support you” like seeing banks, fast-food chains, and tech giants proudly flying the rainbow flag… for a month. It’s a bit kinky, really these corporations are like that ex who only calls when they want something. You’re here for the drinks and the attention, but do you actually care?
On one hand, corporate support for Pride can mean big bucks and visibility for LGBTQ+ causes. On the other, it can feel like these corporations are using queer people as a marketing tool, cashing in on woke points” without any real commitment to the cause. It’s all fun and games until you realize that some of these same companies are donating to politicians who actively fight against LGBTQ+ rights the other 11 months of the year.
### What Are We Really Fighting For? ###
Here’s the thing: the fights over Pride are really about **what Pride means in 2024**. Is it a political movement? A celebration of survival?
An excuse to dance in the street in nothing but rainbow suspenders? Spoiler alert: it’s all of these things and more. But for those who’ve fought tooth and nail for LGBTQ+ rights, the idea that Pride is becoming depoliticized or even worse, corporatized is frustrating.
The community is still battling serious issues: trans rights under attack, violence against queer people, and the rollback of hard-earned legal protections. So when people see Pride turning into a commercial carnival, complete with rainbow-colored burgers, it raises a valid question: are we still fighting the fight, or are we just selling the rainbow?
### The Bottom Line ###
At the heart of the debate is a tension that’s as old as the LGBTQ+ rights movement itself: **visibility vs. respectability, celebration vs. protest, kink vs. corporate.** Some want Pride to be a space where we flaunt our authentic, radical, and occasionally kinky selves. Others feel it’s time to clean up our image and focus on gaining mainstream acceptance.
But here’s the juicy part, Pride has always been both political and personal, sexy and serious. It’s a space where you can throw on a harness and protest, where you can demand rights and dance to Lady Gaga in the same breath. And as long as there are still battles to fight, Pride will remain a glittery battlefield where politics, parties, and maybe a little bit of kink all come together.
After all, who says you can’t fight for your rights and look fabulous doing it?
