I have returned to watching demon slayer after a year and it came up while I was having a serious late night talk with my big sister. I was talking about the relationship between Michikatsu/Kokushibo and Yoriichi and it turns out we both see each other in Yoriichi's shoes and ourselves in Michikatsu's place. Definitely surprising, but really relieving to know that we both worry too much and we are not so far apart in skill as we believe.

This is technically the first piece of fanart I've ever made for the characters in Demon Slayer, I have made OCs before but I never drew an actual character from the story. For context this is mostly just a fun "what if" scenario with them meeting in the afterlife. I like to think Yoriichi's love would reawaken Michikatsu's humanity.

I've come to the conclusion that loving young royals doesn't mean I can't be critical about it, maybe especially bc I love the show so much I have such strong feelings about it, good and bad and I can love parts of canon and agree with it and appreciate it but I don't have to love it all. I have accepted that it's okay if I don't accept the ending and I don't have to force myself to support it. It's okay to not agree with all of canon and it's okay to not side with all of the creators' intentions/views. Loving a show doesn't mean you have to take everything the writers say on face value and that's the only version that is allowed to exist. Canon isn't everything and fandom is about curating your own experience that makes you happy and not miserable. You don't have to dismiss canon in every aspect and ignore it entirely, that's certainly not what I want but there is a fine line between being canon respectful, allowing some parts to exist and sometimes, yes, you just have to say "fuck canon" and move on for your own sanity and wellbeing

I have the same philosophy towards the sharing of ideas in fandom spaces no matter the medium or craft, which is yes!! go!! and it's so much nicer when you cite your source or inspiration. It's like a nod. A handshake. We are playing with the same dolls and I liked your idea enough I want to play with it too. I love having friends to play in the sandbox with. It's all about Kreacher! Kreacher my beloved! I cannot stand idly by while he's left out of his own story. That miserable old elf in his miserable old loincloth was the most important thing in the world to Regulus and the real reason why he did what he did... this is a teenage death eater who has grown up entrenched in bigotry and pureblood supremacy with his murder pinterest board.... and he sacrifices himself for his house elf. because they couldn't get to him, not fully, they couldn't make him not believe that kreacher was family and someone worth showing kindness to and fighting for. and I think that's beautiful 🥺 perhaps most tragic story in all hp certainly one of the more powerful ones in terms of love and loyalty and sadly, oft overlooked
