Warnings: Blood, magic whump, hypothermia, stranger caretaker, hallucination(?)
Leader always believed that their worth was defined by the people willing to help them when they were in their lowest. They always believed having people back them up was the real tresure.
Judging themselves by their own thoughts, Leader was worthless.
Trembling in the water, Leader tried to stay still. They were floating on their back, their blood oozing around and their thoughts as blurry as their vision. They had no strength to get themselves to the shore. Hell, they had no idea where the shore was.
Leader should have been panicking by now. But there was no point in trashing. Waste of their precious time and strength. They were probably not going to make it, and they could only hope the blood loss would rock them to sleep before hypothermia could.
When they eliminated panic, only an odd feeling left. The magic showed them another death. A lot more merciful one. A good ending, at least, even if getting there was torture.
Leader didn't think magic could be mistaken, or the future could be changed. They didn't think they would be dropped off in the middle of water just because of fear, after being ambushed by their own. If they had only listened Leader... that future could happen.
But maybe it wasn't the magic that showed Leader those. Maybe it was just what they wanted to see, and the truth just came to spit on their face. There was no way that they could explain how they didn't break any rules yet cast such powerful spell after fighting all day.
Leader felt their will crumbe as if it was frozen with the cold and someone was hammering it. Not for the first time, they felt the line between dark magic and the forbidden magic blur into each other. Sure, Leader was willing to sacrifice their emotions or give up some of their strength, but they weren't desperate enough to sacrifice something else.
Why not just give in? They could save themselves.
Leader trembled again, pushing the poisonous thought away. They didn't want to become a mindless puppet, and they were stronger than the temptation.
But did it really matter? When they were slowly fading away?
Leader breathed, their lungs screaking for some air. Those were dangerous thoughts, and they didn't belong to Leader.
A cough shook their body. They had to turn to expell some of the water from their lungs. Their head was barely above the water as they coughed their lungs out, their control over their body slipping.
Leader forced themselves to turn on their back again, not able to keep themselves afloat. They ignored how much water they swallowed in the progress and how it made their stomsch turn. They were too drained to care about it.
Leader’s vision blurred, the sky above merging with the depths below. The cold seeped deeper into their bones, numbing their limbs until they could barely tell where the water ended and their body began. They tried to take another breath, but their chest tightened, and a sharp pain shot through their ribs. The taste of salt and iron filled their mouth, darkness taking over their other senses momentarily.
A wave rolled over them, pulling them underwater for a brief, terrifying moment. When they resurfaced, Leader’s body barely responded to their will. Their wet clothes were sticking on them, the howling wind freezing their skin through the thick and wet layers.
They were so, so tired.
Deprived of their magic and strength, they didn't want anything else than closing their eyes. They doubted they would wake up, but at least they weren't in pain. Breathing slowly, they let their thoughts focused on only one thing.
Cold.
All they could feel eas cold. Reasonably, Leader thought. But it didn’t feel right. They had passed the point they were supposed to feel cold. They tried to move, but they didn't feel the swaying feeling of the waves. They were... still. Their back ached on the solid ground, their heavy body slumped on the floor.
Barely able to crack their eyes, Leader met with darkness. Soon, it became a thick, suffocating sight, as if it was wrapped against their throat and pressing their chest. Were they sinking? Was all of this just a last cry of help from their body to wake up their mind?
"You suffered too much," a voice whispered, gentle and soft. Leader struggled as they tried to remember if they had ever heard that voice before, but their mind failed to progress.
Slowly, it got easier to think. They could feel warmth embracing them, giving them a break from the constant shivering.
"You know you don't have to," the warmth burned their cheeks, the voice feeling closer to their ear. "You have the strength to make it stop."
Leader wanted to argue, but their body wouldn’t move, their voice trapped in their throat. The heat held them captive, and all they could do was listen as they felt their skin burn.
"You tried so hard," the voice murmured. "To be strong, to lead, to protect. Only to die alone, bleeding and broken. The people you cared never cared about you. But I won't let this injustice go on any longer."
Leader clenched their fists, nails digging into their palms as they struggled against the crushing weight on their chest. "No," they managed to whisper, the word barely audible. There was nothing to do within their strength to save themselves.
Leader’s heart pounded in their chest as they tried to move again. "No," they muttered again. They tried to open their eyes. Their body seized with pain as they found themselves on a softer ground, the world spinning around them. They were still cold and hot at the same time, still weak, but they were alive. Every part of them hurt, from the deep wound at their side to the biting cold that clung to their skin. The remnants of the dream (hallucination? nightmare? they weren't sure) clung to them, and for a moment, they almost wished they had given in—at least then, they wouldn’t be in this agony.
It took several long moments before Leader realized they weren’t alone. Someone must have pulled them from the water and wrapped them in a blanket. Not that they weren't grateful, but it did very little to chase away the cold.
Blinking through their blurry vision, Leader noticed a figure kneeling beside them.
Leader’s heart pounded in their chest. They flinched away from the person, their body too weak to do much more than that.
The figure said something softly, holding up their hands to show they meant no harm. Leader didn't understand one word from the stranger, and even though the gesture was clear, Leader wasn't buying it.
Leader tried to push themselves up to get away or at least seem intimidating, but their limbs were uncooperative, trembling violently with the effort. They barely managed to prop themselves up on one elbow before collapsing back, their breath coming in ragged gasps as a coughing fit took over.
The figure panicked, helping Leader back down with more words Leader couldn’t understand.
Leader’s vision swam as they stared up at the stranger, every instinct telling them not to trust, not to let their guard down. But they were too weak to fight, too drained to argue or make a point. They gritted their teed with frustration as they realized just how helpless they were.
The stranger mumbled, their voice soothing, almost hypnotic in its calmness. A magic circle with light colors glowed over them, but Leader couldn't summon the strength to break through it.
Leader’s eyes fluttered closed despite their efforts to stay awake, exhaustion - or the spell, they couldn’t tell - winning over. The last thing they felt before sleep claimed them was the gentle touch of the stranger’s hand on their forehead, cool and reassuring over their warm skin, even if it failed to ease the alarms taking over their fading consciousness.
Leader drifted in and out for a frustratingly long time, their mind a haze of pain and fevered dreams. The warmth that surrounded them was a far cry from the icy grip of the lake, but it was no less disorienting. Every breath was a struggle, their chest tight and burning, each inhale rattling painfully in their lungs.
But alongside that pain was something else—something softer, warmer. A hand, perhaps, carefully dabbing at their forehead with a damp cloth, or the feeling of a thick, scratchy blanket tucked securely around them.
When they finally managed to crack their eyes open, Leader found themselves in a small, dimly lit room. A fire crackled softly somewhere nearby, filling the air with warmth and the faint smell of burning wood. For a moment, Leader wondered if their mind finally pitied them and gave a calm dream, but the pain in their chest and the wet, rasping cough wasn't something they could make up.
The stranger was sitting on a stool beside the bed, busy with something Leader couldn’t see. When they noticed Leader’s eyes on them, they turned, offering a small, reassuring smile.
Leader tried to sit up, but their body refused to cooperate, a wave of dizziness forcing them to stay down. The stranger made a soft sound—something between a shushing noise and a hum—before gently pressing Leader back against the pillow.
The stranger patted the bed with a frown, pressing their hand to Leader's forehead.
Leader whined, frustration bubbling up inside them. They needed to know where they were, who this person was, and most importantly, why they had saved them. But when they tried to speak, their throat burned, and all that came out was a hoarse, unintelligible croak. They couldn't even raise their hand to push the stranger away.
The stranger sat next to them. They gestured to themselves, placing a hand on their chest. “Caretaker,” they said slowly, enunciating the word as if trying to make it easier for Leader to grasp.
“Caretaker…” Leader murmured, the name foreign on their tongue. They tried to repeat the gesture, but their hand barely lifted from the bed before falling back, too weak to complete the motion. Caretaker smiled again, this time with a hint of sadness, and placed their hand over Leader’s, giving it a gentle squeeze.
For a while, there was silence. Leader’s eyes drifted shut again, but they fought to keep them open, determined not to slip back into the void. Caretaker seemed to notice and began speaking softly, their voice low and melodic, though Leader couldn’t make out the words. It didn’t matter; the sound was comforting, a lifeline in Leader’s confusion and pain.
Leader tried to get a hold of themselves, and they did, even though they noticed Caretaker was gone by the time they regained awareness. Leader felt the loneliness crush them again, the emotions they supressed for the sake of staying calm surfacing. But they couldn't have that. They weren't ready to deal with any of those. So, they did the only thing they knew with those. Used them to cast a spell.
They knew how pathetic it sounded, but they were desperate to save their team, and it left them absolutely drained. Now they were feeling even worse. They had to relieve some of the pain to keep their sanity.
Leader weakly moved their hand to their chest, curling their fingers. They murmured the spell and let the dark circles surround their body like a blanket, their pain fading to the depts of their mind temporarily just like their feelings.
Leader flinched when they heard a gasp, the spell breaking with their concentration. Usually, such things wouldn't affect them, but they were too weak to keep the spell under check without focusing on it.
Leader turned their head to where the sound came, only to see Caretaker frozen in their place. Then suddenly, Caretaker began checking their plants with panic.
"Hey," Leader rasped. They tried again when Caretaker ignored them, but a coughing fit took over. Caretaker hesitantly came over, unsure if they want to help.
Leader pointed the plant in the corner, and weakly made a gesture like pulling it before shaking their head, hoping it meant no for Caretaker too. Then they pointed themselves and made a pulling motion towards up, magical energy forming for a moment before disappearing as Leader felt their strength fail.
Caretaker checked that plant. Leader knew what the other person thought, but they also believed they proved it wrong. Leader wasn't pulling life force from other things, which was the core of forbidden spells. There was nothing to be afraid of as long as Leader had their self-control.
Caretaker came back after making sure the plant was untouched. They took a paper and a pen, scribbling something. Leader recognised the basic healing spell, of course. The source came from the caster's magical energy, which Leader lacked. It was the reason of their lean towards dark magic they used their emotions to make up their shortcomings.
Caretaker put the pen to Leader's hand. Leader wrote their own slowly, their hand trembling. Only a few symbols were different, but it must have satisfied Caretaker because Leader could see the relief in the other's eyes.
Leader closed their eyes as Caretaker looked at the spell more carefully. They were lucky that the magic came from the same runes. It proved Leader innocent.
With an excited smile, Caretaker tore the paper from Leader's hand— it didn't require much strength. They scribbled some spells and circled some symbols.
Safe, sleep, heal.
Caretaker looked at them proudly. Leader would laugh at the solution to their lack of communication if they had the energy. But they also knew if they laughed, they would start crying.
Did Leader deserve this? From a stranger? Perhaps not. But fate - and the stranger - decided they were worth it.

It’s safe to say that everyone in the chain has ptsd or trauma of some sort right? I’m thinking about hero’s aspect!Wild having a nightmare and screaming and talking and begging in his sleep and he can’t wake, and the chain has no idea what he’s even experiencing because they can’t understand him
-🪱
OH BOY I know i kind of touched on this in the original Fic, but hell, Worm Anon, you gave me Brain Worms.
Aspects of A Nightmare
He'd been with them for two weeks. Long enough that the chain was starting to feel like they were getting to know him - or at least getting used to him - but not really long enough that they could communicate with Wild in any sort of meaningful way.
It grated. Warriors was a leader of men, 'The Captain', always in control, who prided himself on being able to relate to those he served with. Sure, he wasn't in the army now and his brothers were anything but soldiers, but still. The point was, he liked to know the people he was fighting with, and despite his best efforts he just didn't know Wild.
It was easy to ignore most of the time. Ah, yes, that was Wild. He likes to cook, fights like a maniac, and will straight up pick you up if you're being annoying.
Sometimes, though, their lack of communication was all too obvious.
Like tonight. Wars was on second watch when he heard it. Wild, but not his customary rumble or the soft purrs he made in his sleep. A whine, long and low and distressed. Like a call for help.
Wars dashed over to him, wondering if somehow a monster had invaded the camp while he was turned the other way, but no.
As usual, Wild was sleeping with Wind cuddled up beside him. While their newest brother's blanket was thin and ratty, barely big enough to cover his massive form, Wind's was vast, more than big enough for the both of them.
Wild had somehow gotten himself tangled up in the blanket as he slept. Wars could see him trying to lift his arms, move his legs, but to no avail. He whined in his sleep, the sound pitiful and terrified.
Warriors didn't know what he was dreaming of. Nothing good, that was for sure, especially if it had to do with his current trapped position.
Wild tried to thrash again, and still stuck, he whined.
Wars bent down. Normally waking up a hero was something best done from a distance. They could be a violent lot, especially when woken from nightmares, but. Well.
It wasn't like Wild could move enough to do anything.
Wars gently touched his shoulder and shook him awake. Wild's eyes flew open in a flash, and as expected he bared his teeth, snarling. Not particularly intimidating, though, given that he was currently a giant cat-burrito.
"Hey." Warriors whispered, glancing over at where Wind was somehow still asleep. "You were having a nightmare."
Wild blinked, coming back to himself, and then looked down at the sheets. As if reassuring himself that it was just a blanket. That his nightmare wasn't real.
He whimpered, a low grumbling noise almost as if he was attempting speech. Then he sniffed and began to wiggle out of the blankets. Wars helped him untangle himself, and then guided his massive brother over to the fire.
"It's okay." he said, not knowing if it was true or not. He didn't know what Wild had been dreaming about, after all. It was hard to comfort someone when you didn't know what you were comforting them about. "It- it's over now."
Wild fixed his gaze on him, his lower lip trembling. He made a few more of those almost-word-mostly-grumbles before his face just. Crumpled. Here he was, this massive, musclebound lion man, dissolving into tears.
And Warriors? Warriors froze. He wasn't proud of it, and it was only for a second, but he froze.
Wild was big. He was strong. When Wars shot him through the shoulder the other day he barely flinched. But whatever that nightmare must have been about, it must have been truly, unrelentingly terrible. Warriors could scarcely imagine what could be so horrible that it made someone as big and strong as Wild sob.
Then his body kicked into action. Like waking them up, giving heroes unexpected hugs could go very badly, but Warriors was on autopilot. He gathered Wild into his arms (well, as best he could, with the height difference) and pulled him into a hug, stroking his hair and rubbing the fur on his back.
Wild sobbed into his chest, twisting his hands into his tunic. He may have tried to communicate again, but honestly, Warriors found it hard to distinguish from the sobs and he sort of hated himself for that. He wanted to talk to Wild. He needed to know what had hurt him so very badly, what had taken his arm and left him scarred and sobbing in a strange place in a strange time. He need to know so that he could go and fight it, make it pay for hurting his brother.
But he couldn't do that. So he did the next best thing. He held his brother as he cried, and helped him dry his tears when he finally calmed down. He made him a cup of tea and sat with him until his hands stopped shaking enough that he was ready to go back to bed.
Warriors knew next to nothing about Wild.
But by Hylia, he would do anything to learn.
#it me#replies#hero’s aspect au#hero's aspect#my writing#i probably should have saved this for the hiatus#but whatever#wild was dreaming that he was put back in the Shrine#and forgot everything again#ah#shrine trauma#you are an excellent stick with which to beat the blorbo#kinda whumpy#hurt/comfort

Alright hear me out, I've been really thinking about this thing I want to make for a target audience of one person, and that person is me
I remembered that one comment in my drawing saying that maybe something impaling Legend's mer tail could keep him from being able to turn back into a hylian, and I got the idea of giving him a nice tail piercing just to make him have a really bad time ♡
It'd probably be actually a thing that goes from end to end in a narrower part, but I can't figure out how that could look, in a way that:
a) he can't take it off
b) it's not that bulky nor impedes movement that much (even though pain probably would lol but preferably it's not heavy)
And I've been trying to look for inspiration but let's say I can't find stuff that much similar xD
Anyways I'm sorry but the thought of something so small being such a major inconvenience and leaving him fully trapped in the hands of a captor is just *chef's kiss*
#getting a lil too comfortable here huh#smol text. imagine i'm whispering#HE'S SO SQUISHABLE I NEED TO CRUSH HIM#the way hed be so dead if this actually happened but thank god he lives in a world with magical healing & I can do whatever my heart please#(^literally talking about a fantasy species and worrying over medical inaccuracies)#If anyone wants to add to this idea pls pls do. feed me.#writers please let ur characters get kidnapped for a few months (as a treat)#kinda unrelated but I understand why some people may shy away from including body modifications in their whumpy work#but some of us will eat that shit up I promise#sighs maybe you really need to make the art u want to see#Idk if I'll actually draw this tho lol but I can dream#I simultaneously hope no one sees this post and that everyone does KMFKD

Just woke up from a dream where Alex had boat troubles (again) and had to run her aground on a little strip of beach cuz he wasn't going to be able to make it to a boat dock. When he landed on the beach there was a gang of thugs waiting and they told him he was going to have to pay them a bunch of money for being on their beach. They called it "protection money."
He was like "yeah right! I can protect myself."
Then they kidnapped him and tortured him until Kai and Ernesto found and rescued him.
#i have quite a few whumpy dreams and most of them don't really make any sense but this one kinda did#i might have to take a break from my leverage wip to write this#almost paradise#alex walker#kai mendoza#Ernesto Almares#almost paradise whump

I know we like to clown on Omegaverse here in fandom but I gotta admit, some of my favorite fics have been these massive epics that happen to have A/B/O dynamics and I’ve just gotten desensitized to the fact that some of the mechanics are cringy and off-putting because I’ve been so inspired by them. But like, I don’t even care about appealing to the Omegaverse haters. I’m gonna write this Robb/Jaime Omegaverse fic if it kills me
#It’s a fuck or die type deal#this pairing haunts my dreams#side of thramsay btw. can’t decide whether it will be whumpy Thramsay#or like half wump half murder husbands thramsay#Jaime is the omega…

Sharing a bit of my own fever symptoms, too, if that's okay!
(Fevers between 100,4°F and 104,9°F)
Usually, my fevers make me feel very, very cold, but I don't let myself get a lot of covers because the cold is a consequence of how hot my body temperature is. So if I use a lot of covers, I will only get my body even warmer, which will worsen the fever. I usually use cold towels on the forehead or neck. (At least, I've been taught those things all my life, don't take my words as professional advice, I'm just sharing my own experience)
I personally never had a boost of energy. Fever always leaves me extremely tired, without appetite, with a headache (especially the temples and behind the eyes), shivering, weak, and usually nauseated. I usually depend on someone else to help me do most daily stuff, even a little.
My emotional state truly goes a bit wild during fevers. I feel the need to cry easily, but I don't think anger is a feeling I usually have during fevers (perhaps because I don't feel it often even when I'm healthy). I get clingy, perhaps because of a natural human instinct to need someone else during a vulnerable state. Besides that, I get very bored (because I don't have the energy or strength to do much) and frustrated with how uncomfortable the symptoms are.
(This is the 104,9°F fever). As far as I can remember, I've only ever had an actual delirious episode once during a fever (if it happened more times, I was too sick or too young to remember them).
- It started at night, when I was asleep. My fever went higher, and my nausea got worse, so I woke up and tried to make myself more comfortable, but my coordination was terrible, the room seemed all wrong (too wide, then too small), the lights seemed dimmer than I remembered, and I couldn't think well.
- I remember that night seemed to last days, because I checked my phone, and everytime, it had absurd numbers that went higher than 24 hours, or that made no sense comparing to the last number I checked (like going back a few hours or show that it was day, when it wasn't).
- I also remember being so out of it that I talked to myself, thinking someone was with me (I didn't see anyone) for some reason, and I didn't even think of calling for someone in the house.
- Other memories were lost on me because of how sick I was, but I remember being so, so distressed and confused that I cried during it, because I knew something was wrong, and the delirium symptoms just kept coming in waves and not letting me sleep. It was one of the most scary feelings I've ever had in my life, because it felt like being trapped in a weird time loop of nausea, weakness, hallucinations and confusion, without being able to even sit on the bed or call for someone.
- (I'm pretty sure I had a lot of fever dreams because I kept waking up and going back to sleep with how sick and tired I was, but the thing is... I couldn't tell when I was awake and when I was asleep. The delirium made it all seem like one thing, so these symptoms I've described could be real life or fever dreams, but it felt like all real to me, and I remember them clearly as a memory. So you can make a feverish whumpee think something happened, and caretaker being like, "ahm, I was here the whole time, whumpee, that didn't happen")
So yeah, those are the things I remembered about my own fevers. I just thought it would be okay to share them, too. Fevers can be a bit different for each person, especially depending on WHY you're having a fever (an injury infection, a virus infection and what type, heat stroke, medications, etc), so the most experiences you read, the better you can write a feverish whumpee :)
Hope this helps someone!
As someone who has had an 104 (40 for my celsuis folks) fever: I just thought it would be fun to document some things I experienced but never see in fever prompts (also this is all personal experience so I assume it's 'medically accurate' because it literally happened to me but idk do what you want)
-My energy levels were like being on a roller coaster; I would be half dead for an hour or two, laying under layers of blankets and would then have five minutes of energy pumping through my veins. I stayed home from school that day and I remember feeling awful in the morning, I took a nap, and then was up and normal for a few hours. I showered, I worked on school, I scrolled on here, I listened to music. And then it plummeted real fast: I remember trying to focus on an assignment and then getting a massive headache and feeling light-headed so I laid down and covered myself in blankets and I was half-dead for basically the rest of the day
And I think that should be used more often in whump. Imagine Caretaker checking in on Whumpee: who was dead asleep, cold yet sweating, and melting into the bed; only to see them up and about 30 minutes later getting food or a glass of water like they didn't just look like a person on their death bed: then Caretaker's like 'dude what the, get back to bed you idiot, you're sick' and Whumpees just like '???? I feel fine?' and then 30 minutes later Whumpee is back where they started, stuck in a vicious cycle
-I know we've all seen the 'such high fever that they're deliriously emotional' but sweetheart I don't even think I was that delirious and that was probably one of my most emotional days of my life; I would get mad, then angry, then I would want to cry, and then I would just go back to neutral: I think I remember being on the verge of tears because of my covers not cooperating
-I WAS SO COLD. I WAS FREEZING MY BUTT OFF. I always see fevers that make Whumpee feel hot but that was NOT me, I remember literally shivering even though I had MULTIPLE layers on and I low-key don't know why because I also assumed that it would feel hot while being on the verge of being baked alive in your own body but that's just me
And that's all pookies
(If anyone is a medical professional or smth and has the science behind any of my symptoms, please reblog/comment/message me privately about it because I am genuinely curious)

My fic based on the Eleonora's falcon's whumpy hunting strategies is here! Summary:
For generations, a certain population of Eleonora’s Falcons have been observed learning to capture smaller birds by shredding their wings and trapping them in rocky crevices to have fresh food available later. In the Avian tongue, Eleonora translates to Elytrian. In the Avian brain, Elytrian translates to nightmare. But while Avian Techno is dreading the moment he’s turned into lunch, Elytrian Philza hasn’t slept in three days trying to take care of his newborn. When the line between chick and chick food starts to blur, how will predator and prey handle it?
Design details below cut :) featuring lots of speculative biology and culture based on real birds.
General
Both species don't have feathers around their mouth for hygiene.
Evolutionary, they follow the
Their teeth are convergent evolution. They are not the same as mammal teeth.
We are ignoring the fact their flat faces are not the most aerodynamic.
Head wings are to increase mobility and the face aerodynamic problem. Somewhat similar to dragonflies where they have a lot more aerial precision, but doesn't allow them to hover.
Languages are grouped by Order. Some portions are instinctual, others are learned.
Avians
Avians are passarines. There are multiple species of Avian. Technoblade is based on colorful songbirds, but doesn't have a specific source.
Omnivores. Diet includes fruit, nuts, fish, insects, grains. Become more herbivores during migration because they can store long term.
Technoblade's feathers mimic the spears of a crown, with his back similar to cTechno's blue cape. His shoulders are very fluffy to mimic the fur of cTechno's hood, and because it's winter.
Evolved for long distance migration across the ocean. Their arms were primarily an adaptation for holding supplies during migration, but have found new purposes with the invention of society.
Because of their long head wings, Avians can't wear typical shirts. They also don't have a concept of chest modesty. The halter top is a way to carry more supplies while flying, and has a net interior. The sleeves are to keep their arms warm during migration. (and to mimic ctechno skin).
The long head wings make them incredibly agile in flight. Combined with their incredible endurance, if they can survive the initial attack they tend to do well.
Walk more upright than Elytrians since they don't have to counterbalance the same magnitude of wing.
Like to wear shiny stuff like gold.
Baggy drop pants to trap heat and because they don't tend to walk too much.
Can sleep with only one half of their brain while migrating so they're able to keep going.
Good mimicking abilities.
Elytrians
Elytrians are falconiformes.
Elytrians don't typically do the de-winging thing, it is a learned behavior within Philza's area (much like Eleonora's falcon). They find arms very useful for tearing while clutching the prey in their feet talons.
Nearly exclusively carnivorous.
Elytrians live further south of Techno's species, and migrate about a month after they've passed through.
Their general diet does not typically consist of Avians but instead other birds, or terrestrial prey like deer or smaller. They only eat Avians during migration/hatching season, targeting exhausted migrators.
The main hunting strategy is divebombing at incredible speeds. If they miss, they might pursue it little bit, but have a lower success rate.
As such, they have small head wings to avoid getting in the way of aerodynamics.
Small head wings also mean they can have more of a shirt! Tend to have sleeves, and don't cover up the chest because there's lots of fluffy feathers there, particularly in females. They don't have boobs. They're birds. That's. That's not how that works.
Females are larger.
Giant talons for ripping and shredding.
I uh did read articles about the Cretaceous–Paleogene mass extinction and stuff about gigantification and what not, but I think I'll stop myself before pontificating about the oxygen ratio in the atmosphere and potential gravity differences.......
